Stereotyping And Stereotypes
Stereotyping someone without knowing someone can bring unwanted conflicts and wrong
impressions. The other college students talked about me, as they tended to, not knowing that I could
hear what they were saying. Look at her, she looks mean and rude. The look on my face must be ugly,
I suppose. Stereotypes always upset me and when the other girls were talking about me was no
exception. After hearing what was said I began to grow angry as the elevator started to go up. I was
alone, so I started thinking and talking out loud to myself about what was said about me, when the
elevator stopped on my door room floor, I realized I shouldn t be that upset, because it was not true. I
do not have to prove anybody wrong, or explain myself to anyone until they talked to me to see what
they thought of me was wrong. I continued to walk in the direction of my dorm room. I got to my
dorm room and I introduced myself to one of my roommates and her family. I picked my bed,
dressers, and computer desk. I started unpacking and moving my furniture around to accommodate
me. One by one, I put my clothes in the dressers neatly while my family brought the rest of my things
into the room. After a couple of hours, I was done unpacking and all I had to do was go to the store
and get food, drinks, and other things that I needed. I came back to my dorm and it was time for
parents to leave, so I walked my family out and talked to them and told them that I will call them later.

French Nouvelle Vague Movement
French Nouvelle Vague, also known as The French New Wave, is one of the most influential and
significant movements in the film history. The films produced during French Nouvelle Vague has
earned many praises and made a huge impact in the film history.
French Nouvelle Vague lasted from the late 1950s to early 1960s. The movement was founded by a
group of film critics who wrote for Cahiers du Cinema, a French film journal. In the group of film
critics, there were Francois Truffaut, Jacques Rivette, Claude Chabrol, Jean Luc Godard and Eric
Rohmer. The film critics were originally writers and they became well known, recognized directors
through The French Nouvelle Vague. They were exposed to foreign films after the Nazi censorship
ended and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was born in Belgium but worked in France. She was originally a photographer before she released
her first film, La Pointe Courte. She is considered as one of the significant figures in the French
Nouvelle Vague. She often collaborates with filmmakers from the left bank. Her films were
categorized as feminist as she usually uses female protagonist. Representable film from Agnes Varda
were La Pointe Courte, which was released in 1955, Cleo from 5 to 7, which was released in 1962 and
Jacquot de Nantes, which was released in 1993.
If the French Nouvelle Vague didn t happen and amazing directors of the movement didn t exist,
movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield wouldn t be the same without
it. This shows the importance of The French New Wave and the techniques and theories that came
along with it. Movies nowadays adapt those techniques and theories to look like they are today. The
movement also gives out a message that proves, without expensive and high technology filming
equipments or expensive fancy sets, great films could be made.

Hunger Banquet Report
Yesterday we had a hunger banquet. The class was split up into three groups: the low class, the middle
class, and the high class. The low class had half of the class. They were the people that could not
afford to support themselves and their families. They earn around 2,000 dollars a year and usually the
whole family has the work, even the children. 50% of the world are the low class. They live in
poverty. They usually do not have homes and spend all day trying to find food and water, so they can
stay alive and not die of starvation. In class the low income class got cold rice and a little bit of water.
I started of in the low income class, but then moved up to the middle income class. The middle income
class earns about 8,000 to 3,000 a year.

Groupthink Assessment
1. What was the Chapter # and name of the Assessment?
The chapter number is ten, and the name of the assessment is Delegation.
2. What was the purpose of the Assessment?
The purpose of the assessment is to analyze personal tendencies regarding sharing tasks in group
assignments and activities. The measurement contrasts delegation and perfectionism.
3. What was your score/result on the Assessment and What does it mean?
The assessment deals with perfectionism, the desire to be in personal control, compared to delegation,
or the entrusting others with work, which I am responsible for. Questions one through five focused on
delegation, and questions six through ten focused on perfectionism. I had three mostly true answers in
both categories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Media Article On The Media
Reframing Sexting Media Article Media has been known to stretch many stories throughout history.
These misinterpreted stories have increased in the last decade due to more media forms taking place
such as Facebook, Twitter, and the wide range of media sources now produced on the internet. One
who is searching for accurate information must be careful about what they are are looking for because
many articles misrepresent what actually happens. Biased information is very common in
experimental findings. There are often media sources that make findings more interesting so that the
particular company will get more attention. There are also articles that simply misinterpret data and
publish false findings. However, there are also media articles that do publish information correctly.
When searching for media articles one must be careful to decipher the information given. Recently,
CNN published an article on sexting. Sexting is a frequent topic in the news today, but what stands out
is that the news article said that sexting can actually improve relationships. Now, the stereotype that
most people have heard about sexting has been negative (and probably rightly so), so this stood out to
me as an article that had to be misinterpreting the experiment. This article exhibited some information
that was in fact true, but some of the information was also slightly biased. The actual experiment itself
rose some questioning. When looking at the article and study in sexting, the important

Comparing The Economic And Cultural Benefits Of...
Introduction
Background and Significance:
The goal of this action research project is to contrast and compare the economic and cultural benefits
of multigenerational households in the Midwest of USA since the economic downturn. This research
will focus on multigenerational households of families attending the Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville (SIUE) Belleville Head Start Center . The families at this particular Head Start are
diverse, young parents with low income and other factors that fit the criteria for this project. The
center s population would have the perfect variables and characteristics for my project. The project
would include information on the economic and cultural aspects of different racial/ethnic groups, elder
care, single parents, immigrants, black and Hispanics who live in multigenerational homes. The
multigenerational families have become a growing topic of interest. Multifamily households are
defined by the U.S. Census as family households consisting of three or more generations (U. S.
Census Bureau, 2012).
The purpose of this project is to investigate how beneficial it is to families to live in a
multigenerational family household. For over twenty years, I have worked with these families and it
has been a vital balance to create stability for the family and directly impacted the child. I will use the
findings of this action research project to better assist my families to reach a level of self sufficiency.

Proposal For A New Communication Structure
Proposal for a new communication structure is a major factor in an organization. Five concepts play a
significant role in a successful communication within an organization setting. The concepts of
successful communication are active listening, organizational culture, conflict resolution, key
principles of human communication, leadership strategies, formal and informal communication. There
is some corporate groups formal and informal communication structure within the organization.

One of the most significant roles of active listening is how well an individual listen to a significant
impact on the job effectiveness and the quality of the interactions with others. Active listening help to

communicating. Organization Culture is the second concept that plays a vital role in a new
communication structure in an organization. No matter what an organizational culture might be, the
goals are to work for a common goal and be successful in new communication structures. Our text
states Organizational culture refers to the cooperatively held underlying beliefs, logics, and legends
concerning corporate life that organizational participants learn and use to guide their behaviors. These
ideas, philosophies, and myths are embedded in and transmitted through both formal and informal
channels of organizational communication (Kreps, 2011). Organizational culture defines the
individuality of the organization to both members and nonmembers, cues members of the culture
about how they should represent the organization, and helps members make sense of their role in the
organization and the higher part of the group within society (Kreps, 2011). Having

Hysteria In Jane Eyre
Bertha Mason has become a significant literary character since Charlotte Brontë included her in Jane
Eyre in 1847. As discussed in chapter one, there was a social correlation between women and hysteria,
and a great fear by women of false committals or home imprisonment by their husbands. Jane Eyre is
a novel that plays upon that fear and brings these frightening scenarios to life. Brontë s depiction of
Bertha Mason also reveals society s views of hysteria. This is an illness that is difficult to understand,
and Jane s descriptions of the hysterical woman have a visceral feel to them. This chapter will argue
that Bertha Mason is a literary response to public debates concerning mental illness, specifically
hysteria in women. It will begin with an analysis of her character, from her description to her actions.
This analysis will show how Brontë used the knowledge available to society to exploit the fear of the
mistreatment of wives while using current treatment methods. This chapter aims to read Bertha Mason
not only as the hysterical woman but as a figurative illustration in the novel.
Charlotte Brontë includes the phenomenon of women s hysteria in her novel; inasmuch, she depicts
characters of different social ranks and how they view the one hysterical woman. Before Bertha
Mason introduces as a character to the reader, Jane Eyre describes the distinct laugh she hears while
accompanying Mrs Fairfax to the attics as it was a curious laugh; distinct, formal, mirthless and a

Cardboard And Cups Experiment Essay
Have you ever wanted to stand on something that is very very light without crushing it? Something
you can t stand because it is impossible. Here s an idea though how about taking cardboard and cups?
Now, what can you do with these items? I know. How about you try to do the paper cup walk. It
would be amazing if you could stand on dixie cups and just two pieces of cardboard with all your
weight. The goal to do with this project is to not crush one dixie cup. Also you should try cutting out
the bottom of the cups and see if you can stand on them without crushing one cup. Everyone does this
experiment different that is why it is fun. Pressure is a physical force exerted on or against an object
by something in contact with it. When you stand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tension is the state of being stretched tight. For example if you have a piece of paper and you try to
stretch it won t this is called tension. If you cut out the bottom of a cup the tension is gone. If you try
to replace the bottom of the paper cups with something else for example, sand you can also see that
the sand replaces the bottom of the cups. The sand replaces the base to make it even stronger than it
was before. The sand s replacing the tension which causes the cups to stretch back out again and make
this experiment a lot more interesting. Compression is the last thing going on here in this experiment.
Compression is thrust, load, stress, compressing, squeezing, crushing, weight, and heaviness. Take the
paper again and after you ve used tension with it let s use compression. If you crush the paper into a
ball. This is compression. Now compression is similar to pressure in this project actually, pressure
causes compression but they are a little bit different. Take another example an air compressor. The
machine inside is compressing and compressing because it is trapped. When you cut out the bottoms
of the cups you see that the cups fall and you do too this is compression in this experiment. You can

Belfast Of Canada
Smith s (2015) evaluation of the Toronto as the Belfast of Canada is important because it defines the
existence of a strong pro Ulster faction of Irish Protestant that received large scale support from the
British government to countermand the rise of Irish Catholicism in the city. In this manner, the term,
The Belfast of Canada , defines the undercurrent of hostility and social barriers that created such
political and social tensions for Irish Catholics in Toronto in the 1860s. This posthumous term defined
the existing struggles between Protestant and Catholic Irish tat would be historically compared to the
struggles in Belfast:

In this manner, Irish immigrants all understood the complexity of being in a foreign land, which had
different circumstances in relation to life in Canada. The comparison of Toronto to Belfast has its
limitations due to the far lesser scale of violence experienced between Irish Protestants and Catholics,
but it must also be acknowledged that many Irish immigrants coming over during the Great Famine
endured poverty and similar economic conditions.
The majority of the Protestant emigrants of the Famine era appear not to have been well off. Most of
them spent a few years visiting relatives and working in Carleton or Middlesex counties after arriving
from Ireland in the 1850s (Elliot, 2014, p.111).
In this deeper analysis of Irish population arriving during the Famine, it is apparent that protestant and
Catholic both suffered from poverty after coming to Toronto. Certainly, a majority of immigrants were
of Catholic descent, but there were certainly Protestant Irish being forced off their land in Ireland
during the Famine. These are important details that define why Toronto was not nearly as hostile as
Belfast, since the similar aspects of poverty, Irish nationalism, and Irish culture were shared values in
the overall disposition of Irish immigrants

Mother Tongue Literary Analysis
Mother Tongue by Amy Tan is an example of powerful family love that helps to overcome obstacles.
According to Reinhold Niebuhr, family life is too intimate to be preserved by the spirit of justice. It
can be sustained by a spirit of love which goes beyond justice. Therefore, a family is a large organism
that needs to be nourished and maintained. Mother Tongue is a sentimental and emotional story about
a great writer Amy Tan and her lovely mother who struggles from imperfect knowledge of the
language of the country in which she lives. Mother Tongue is one of the examples of a pure and honest
love in the family of immigrants, who tried to identify themselves in the new society and overcome
the language barrier. As a Chinese woman, Amy Tan, whose culture based on respect and veneration
of parents, supports and helps her mother on a long way to tide over her broken English. (Tan 119)
The connection between a daughter and a mother allows Amy to understand her mother s limited
language just by a heart. (Tan 119) Language is a very powerful and strong instrument, but the related
blood between the two main characters is capable to express everything without the words. Amy loved
her mother so much and did not want to hurt her feelings by calling her English broken or fractured ,
as if it were damaged and needed to be fixed, as if it lacked a certain wholeness and soundness . (Tan
119) Despite the global misunderstanding of society and her mother, Amy thinks that her mother s
language is vivid, direct full of observation and imagery. (Tan 119) It is her mother tongue and she is
ready to protect and support her in any situations. Almost every family of immigrants going through a
process of self identification in the new society and suffers from language limitation. Amy s mother
faced many problems because of her imperfect English. Amy said: when I was fifteen, she used to
have me call people on the phone to pretend I was she. (Tan 119) Like every normal person,
immigrant need to have a medical support, a bank account and a lot of simple vital things, to get
which becomes a big problem because of language limitation. The accident in the hospital showed
how people, whom the ordinary patient

In August of 2002, Toshiba NEC proposed the next generation optical disc format HD DVD
(Williams, 2008). HD DVD (High Definition/Density DVD) transformed the way we view digital
media in the early 2000 s. It was predicted that the HD DVD would be the successor to the standard
DVD format.
As the creator of the successor to the standard DVD format, Toshiba created a paradigm shift phasing
out the standard DVD which played at 704 pixels by 480 pixels and introduced HD DVD which plays
at 1920 pixel by 1080 pixels ( The difference between, ). The HD optical disk held up to 15GB on a
single side and produced a crisp picture for in home entertainment. The HD DVD Promotion Group
was a group of manufacturers and media studios formed to exchange thoughts and ideas to help
promote the format worldwide (Rapid Response Team, 2006).
With marketing and management Toshiba convinced companies such as Paramount Pictures,
Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO and New Line Cinema to announce support for the
HD DVD format. This shift in technology, with the help of HDTV, moved in home entertainment to
new heights. Toshiba NEC were able to capitalize on the market meeting the needs of the PC industry
driven optical drive business and the next generation DVD media ( Toshiba and nec, 2002). As

All tax revenue in the state of Texas help fund state programs available. Sin tax is no different. Sin Tax
is a tax on items that are considered harmful, like tobacco, alcohol, and gambling. In Texas, casinos
are illegal so most revenue from sin taxes are based off the sale of tobacco products and alcohol. Texas
also has placed sin taxes on places of business that host live nude shows and allow alcohol
consumption at the business. This specific sin tax has been nicknamed the pole tax for obvious

Cultural Differences In Culture And Business
Although we may not notice it, differences in culture affect our everyday lives including business. In
the business world, it is inevitable that you will cross paths with people of differ from you.
Understanding these differences can play a major factor to being successful in business. Improving
your level of knowledge of international cultural difference in business can help in building
international skills as well as empowering you to increase competitive advantage. Hofstede s theory
allows for statistical comparison of cultures through various studies. His extensive work gives an
insight of the culture and how its impacts business strategies of members of that society. Hofstede
studied and categorized cultures into 5 different sections; Uncertainty Avoidance, Individualism, Long
term orientation, Masculinity and Power index. There are always a few generally clear signs you
should notice that shows how a country cultural and business are created. Hofstede s study results
show vast differences between the United States and Japan s culture and business. A clear majority of

What is effective communication?
Communication refers to the means of using words to express feelings, thoughts and ideas. Effective
communication is the process whereby, verbal communication is presented clearly to the
understanding of the service user. There is two types of communication the first one is verbal
communication and the second one is non verbal communication. However, there is different forms of

Forms of Verbal Non Verbal Communication
Non Verbal:
Posture: Posture is a form of non verbal communication which can be used by individuals, this is the
act of positioning a specific part of your body in a way that is sending a message to the second party.
For example, shaking your head while someone is talking indicates that you don t agree with what

Analysis Of Sir Luke Fildes The Doctor
Sir Luke Fildes, a renowned painter of the late Victorian age, completed an oil painting titled The
Doctor, in 18871. It captures in a glimpse the socio historical milieu which shaped the identity of the
General Practitioner in Victorian England since the 1840s. The painting shows a doctor attending the
sickbed of a poor child. Though a candle is burning still, a natural light also comes in, suggesting that
it is now dawn, and the child has survived the night. The doctor s figure represents a calm and
soothing heroism at the face of death. He has spent, it seems, a sleepless night, nursing the sick child.
The painting not only depicts a positive and humanitarian image of the Victorian General Practitioner,

Doublespeak In English Language
Today s world is rife with inaccurate use of the English language. Some, like George Orwell in
Politics and the English Language, may even argue that the English language is on the decline. In The
World of Doublespeak, Lutz claims that doublespeak is a major contributing factor to the decline of
the English language as it limits our ability to think crucially. Ultimately, doublespeak is a dangerous
phenomenon, and each form of doublespeak comes with its own danger. Doublespeak is language that
is not technically a lie but is not the full truth either. As described by Lutz, Doublespeak is language
that pretends to communicate but really doesn t (347). Doublespeak is the incongruity between what is
said or left unsaid (Lutz, 348). It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lutz defines jargon as the specialized language of a trade, profession, or similar group (349). This is
necessary for professionals to be able to communicate effectively with people of the same profession.
On the other hand, jargon can be used pretentiously, making simple concepts appear more complex
than they need to be in order to impress an audience. Even something as simple as smelling can be
turned into medical sounding nonsense organoleptic analysis (Lutz, 349). When professionals use this
language around people that would not be expected to know what they mean, it is purposely
confusing. Consequently, this causes people to overlook important details because they cannot
comprehend them. Thirdly, gobbledygook is a matter of piling on words, of overwhelming the
audience with words (Lutz, 350). This makes people seem cultured and reputable. It sounds
impressive as a speech, but then makes no sense when it is fully analyzed as a text. People who speak
like this ultimately come across as knowing nothing about what they are saying. This was especially
prevalent in NASA s shuttle program, which ultimately led to the Challenger disaster in 1986.
Gobbledygook is dangerous because people do not want to admit that they cannot comprehend the
text, so they just go along with whatever is said to protect their pride. Finally, inflated language is used
to give an air of importance to people, situations, or

surviving in the sewer. Cristiana story was much detailed while in the poem there s just not a lot, but
we learn how much they are being torchered. This is not much because the story features torture too.
Last in the differences is the help. While Pavel Friedmann is not in the sewer he not receiving any help

Seeking treatment is unlikely for a majority of people that are physically abused, and the ones who are
seeking treatment are usually under some form of legal constraint. The prevention and treatment
options for physically abused children include: enhancing positive experiences early in the
development of the parent child relationship, as well as changing how parents teach, discipline, and
attend to their children.
Evidence based interventions include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as video feedback
interventions and child parent psychodynamic psychotherapy; all of which specifically target anger
patterns and distorted beliefs, and offer training and/or reflection, support, and modelling that focuses
on parenting skills and expectations, as well as increasing empathy for the child by supporting the
parent s taking the child s perspective.
These forms of treatment may include training in social competence and management of daily
demands in an effort to decrease parental stress, which is a known risk factor for physical abuse.
Although these treatment and prevention strategies are to help children and parents of children who
have been abused, some of these methods can also be applied to adults who have physically

Human Resource Management Of An Organization Essay
Graschl (2011) commented on the essential piece of information that Human Resource Management
of an organization is one of the integral part of the organization that helps in maximizing the
performance of the employees for meeting the objectives of the organization. In this contemporary
world, the importance of hotel and hospitality industry is increasing in a rapid rate and hence
managing the people within the hotels and restaurants is now a major concern. This is because, it is
generally seen that the hospitality industries that deals with the welfare and satisfaction of the
customers, do not give much care and importance to the employees. As mentioned by Lean Darder,
Villar Garca
a Pla Barber (2011) the employees therefore are not at all treated well that leads to the less
employee retention and dissatisfaction. The hotel industry in New Zealand is in a consistent growth
over years and hence it is essential for the hotels to look after the interest of the employees. The HR
practices should be present that includes both the appraisals and employee engagement that is
essential for each and every hotel industry.
In this research work, the researcher deals with the identification of the contemporary issue of Human
resource management along with the discussion on the employee engagement process as the
contemporary issue. In addition to this, the management of the identification of the issues that includes
the approaches and its innovative proceedings are also discussed by

What Events Led Up To Pearl Harbor
The Article I selected for this assignment was President Roosevelt, Admiral Stark, and the Unsent
Warning to Pearl Harbor: A Research Note. This article clarifies some of the more controversial events
leading up to pearl harbor. Specifically, why pearl harbor was not prepared for the attack. The article
starts off with the writers interviewing Admiral Harold R. Stark who took most of the blame for the
incident when it occurred. The interview itself was a regurgitation of information the writers already
knew but after they finished up the interview and were heading out the door Admiral Harold R. Stark
said Somebody had to stand up and shoulder the blame. It was up to me to do that. I ll carry that
burden, always. I ll keep that secret, always.

How Did Thomas Malthus Inspire Charles Darwin s Theory Of...
Introduction to Biological Anthropology Exam 1 Name: Sean Cook Short Answer: Answer each
question in a few sentences, as specifically as possible. Remember to use appropriate terminology and
answer all parts of the question. (5pts each) 1. How did Thomas Malthus inspire Charles Darwin s
theory of natural selection? Define natural selection. Thomas Malthus stated that the human
population would eventually decrease significantly. His reasoning was that there would be a scarcity
of food and other vital resources, leaving only the fittest of the species to survive. These fittest of the
species would then pass on their traits to their offspring. Darwin used this is a firm foundation for his
natural selection theory. Natural selection is the idea that the organisms that are the best suited for the
environments they live in, are able to survive and pass on their genetic traits with huge success to the
next generations of said organism. 2. What s the difference between a stem cell and a differentiated
cell? Give an example. Why are stem cells important in science? The difference between stem cells
and a differentiated cell is the fact that stem cells have the ability to become any kind of cell once they
are more developed. Differentiated cells already have a purpose set for them and will fulfill that one
purpose once they have developed and matured fully. Stem cells are basically cells that haven t
differentiated yet. Stem cells are important to science because of their

Effects Of Human Immunodeficiency Virus
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus spread by bodily fluids of infected individuals; it
results in a depressed immune system as the virus destroys CD4+ cells. There are currently
approximately 89,000 people living with HIV in the UK with 78,900 diagnosed cases. HIV cases are
declining with 5,164 cases diagnosed in 2016 compared to 6,286 in 2015.
The discovery and implementation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) changed the prognosis for many
with HIV from a fatal death sentence to a manageable chronic disease which enables sufferers to lead
full lives. 96% of people living with HIV in the UK accessed ART treatment (Figure 2) in 2016.
Sustained treatment results in viral suppression which makes HIV untransmissible, ... Show more

Non adherence also increases risk of developing drug resistant viruses putting other members of the
population at risk.
Depression is a common aliment for people suffering from HIV sometimes triggered by life stresses
and stigma resulting from a HIV+ diagnosis. Stress itself is important as it can decrease adherence and
also directly suppress immune function thereby decrease CD4+ levels exacerbating the effects of non
adherence. Patients who were diagnosed as depressed were 1.76 times more likely than those who
were not depressed to not adhere to their ART regimen.
Prescription of antidepressants and psychotherapy sessions demonstrated an increase in ART
adherence. Mindfulness training (MT) involves redirecting attention, avoiding emotional reactions and
developing skills of self regulation. In comparison to a control group the group with an MT
intervention had a decreased viral load on follow up suggesting increased adherence. Studies have
shown that MT decreases anxiety, depression whilst improving sleep quality and cognitive function.
As ARTs do not result in a cure throughout a person s lifetime many different regiments may be
prescribed targeting various stages of the virus replicative cycle. To decreases risk of resistance many
countries prescribe a combination of drugs with multiple doses throughout the day, the NHS
prescribes between one to four pills daily. As shown in the AACTG and the Danish

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and the Student
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common obstacles that some
students face in the process of learning. ADHD is often confused with Attention Deficit Disorder
(ADD). It is very important to understand the difference between ADHD and ADD. It is also very
important to understand the symptoms and behaviors associated with ADHD, as well as the causes and
treatments available. After a complete understanding of the basics of ADHD, a closer look at the
education system is essential. The education of children relies on the teacher s knowledge of ADHD,
as well as parent student teacher relationships. There are also some important teaching tips that ...

According the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM4),
children must have at least six out of nine listed criteria in order to be diagnosed with ADHD. Some
examples of these criteria includes, but is not limited to, paying little attention to detail, lack of
organization, forgetfulness, easily distracted, impatience, talkative, and fidgety ( Teaching , 1998,
Zeigler Dendy, 2000).
Diagnosing ADHD can be a difficult task because of the variance of symptoms and behaviors. What
often makes an attention deficit so complex is that two thirds of student with a disorder have at least
one other coexisting condition such as learning disabilities, anxiety, or depression (Zeigler Dendy,
2000, p1). One key identifier is a two to four year lag of age appropriate developmental skills (Zeigler
Dendy, 2002, p3). Other symptoms and behaviors that may be an indicator of ADHD include
disorganization, forgetfulness, impaired sense of time, variability in school work, sleep disturbances,
inability to learn from either punishment or rewards, and also the inability to adapt easily to change
(Zeigler Dendy, 2000).
A few facts to be aware of involve the heredity of ADHD, and the difference in behaviors between
boys and girls. Forty to fifty percent of children with ADHD have at least one parent who has been
diagnosed with ADHD, and

Allegory Of The Cave Vs Plato s Cave
By writing The Allegory of the Cave or Plato s Cave, Plato tries to convey to people that they must
escape the world of illusions and shadows and look at it with other eyes because that is the only way
that they can find the true view of the world. In other words what I mean by other eyes is that people
should see not only what is presented to them but see what is the real message hidden behind the
illusion. People should think outside the box in order to break away from the delusions and discover
the reality. Plato s allegory tells us about people s way of thinking about the world. In the essay I will
explain why not everyone wants to open his or her eyes, how people are misguided by illusions, and
why sometimes it is hard it is to see the reality. To begin with, we as a people have the ability to see
but not everyone actually sees things, and often we believe in what is presented to us blindly. In the
The Allegory of the Cave or Plato s Cave is written that the power to learn is presented in everyone s
soul and that the instrument with which each learns is like eye that cannot be turned around from
darkness to light without turning the whole body. By that he means that everybody has the ability to
learn things but not everybody wants to see learn them. In other words, the power to learn is ability
that everybody has but not everyone uses it properly. Plato s allegory reveals that education is the craft
concerned with doing this very thing, this turning around, and which

Effectiveness Of 4 Psychotherapies During The Treatment Of...
Crits christoph et al10 designed a trial to determine the effectiveness of 4 psychotherapies in the
treatment of cocaine dependent patients. In this multicenter study, 487 patients were randomized into
one of the four treatment groups: individual drug counseling (IDC) plus group drug counseling
(GDC), CBT plus GDC, SE plus GDC or GDC alone. Intervention included a 6 month active phase of
treatment and a 3 month booster phase and follow up of 3 months. All treatment groups recorded
significant improvements from baseline mean (SD) 30 days cocaine use of 10.4 (7.8) days (median,
8.0; range, 1 30; n=487) to 3.4 (6.5) days (median, 0; range, 0 30; n = 387) at 12 months. Among the
four groups, IDC plus GDC was superior on the number of cocaine use days and also on the Addiction
Severity Index Drug Use Composite score. The authors noted that despite the low average drug use
found in in the IDC treated patients during the 12 month trial, abstinence was not maintained in most
patients as only 36%achieved 3 consecutive cocaine free months. Discovering an effective
pharmacotherapy for cocaine use disorder remains a top research priority nationally since there are
currently no FDA approved medication for the treatment of cocaine dependence. While several classes
of medications have shown some efficacy in some phase two clinical trials, none has been proven to
show consistency and lasting efficacy. Recent progress in the understanding of the effect of cocaine on

Iron Deficiency Anemia
Iron deficiency anemia is a common type of anemia, a condition in which blood lacks adequate
healthy red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body s tissues. As the name implies, iron
deficiency anemia is due to insufficient iron.
The cause of iron deficiency anemia is diet, if you don t eat enough foods high in iron, inability to
absorb iron, Crohn s disease may cause low iron levels, growth spurts, children younger than 3 years
of age grow so fast that their bodies may have a hard time keeping up with the amount of iron they
need, pregnancy, women who are breastfeeding need more iron than women who are not pregnant or
breastfeeding, blood loss, and genetic disease such as sickle cell disease.

Treatments that are associated with iron deficiency anemia depends on what s causing your anemia. If
anemia is caused from losing too much blood, your doctor will need to treat the cause of the blood
loss. If anemia results from your diet being too low in iron, the doctor may recommend a change in
your diet or iron pills. Managing the condition that is causing the anemia is the most important part of
treating it. If anemia is very bad, you might get shots of erythropoietin to help your bone marrow
make more red blood cells.
Nursing interventions: monitor vital signs and oxygen saturation, monitoring lab results, encourage
balance between activities in the day, dietary education and lifestyle changes, make sure patient has

A Hectic Schedule Analysis
A Hectic Schedule The term struggle is used frequently amongst the teenagers of this generation. It is
commonly used for almost every job which is not appealing. They say life is such a struggle which is
a true statement, but it is such a broad statement it has different meaning for every individual. My
struggle in life is time management. Sophomore year was not too hectic for me as I was taking honors
classes and deeply involved in Asian and Pacific Islander Club. I was also in the musical which taught
me how to balance my school life and after school curriculars even more. I also committed to
volunteer at PAST E for a few months after school. With my experience of balancing school life and
activities sophomore year, I thought it would be fun to add more extra curriculars to my schedule. At
the end of my sophomore year I applied to be the head chairwoman of the diversity and community
committees as I believed I had good attributes of leading these communities. I wanted to give back to
the CC community. I was denied both positions, but the diversity committee called me back after a
day within the interviews. I accepted it graciously even though I was warned there would be a lot of
extra work. In addition to accepting a leadership role, I also committed myself ... Show more content

Essay about Cannibalism
Cannibalism is the consumption of human flesh by other human beings. The concept of people eating
other people is highly debatable, but it has been proven to occur throughout history. The word
cannibalism comes from the Carib Indians of the West Indies, which were called Caribales quot; or
Canibales (Spier 543). The Spanish word canibales translates to thirsty and cruel in English. Another
known term for cannibalism is the Latin form anthropophagy (Bell). Anthropophagy derives from the
Greek words anthropos meaning man and phagein meaning eat. The term anthropophagy was used in
ancient times, which suggests that people from ancient times consumed other human beings (Spier
543).

After half of the travelers had died, the remaining people started to eat the flesh of the deceased in
attempts of survival. Forty six survivors were eventually rescued, but they received excessive
judgement for their actions. They were tried for their crimes of cannibalism, and they all served six
months in prison before they could return to their communities (Bell).
Another case of survival cannibalism took place in 1972 when a group of South American rugby
players were stranded in the Andes Mountains. Forty five people left on an airplane for their
destination of Chile, and only sixteen would make it alive. Their plane crashed into the Andes
Mountains, killing thirteen people from the crash itself. The crash also injured many others who would
eventually die over the weeks from their injuries. The mountains offered no supplies or food for
support. With no food, many of the crash survivors resorted to eating the deceased. Those survivors
who refused to eat their fellow people died of starvation. This group of people spent seventy days in
the mountains before the sixteen survivors were rescued and brought home (Bell). The story of these
South American athletes would be the plot for the movie Alive (1993) which was based on a true story
(Goldman).
Another form of cannibalism that has taken place is spiritual and ritual cannibalism. There are many
forms of it worldwide. The first is exocannibalism which is when a group or

Ferraro s selection was a great moment during this period in American history. Her selection brought a

for the democrats, with the economy booming, so was Reagan s popularity. President Reagan and Vice

Rome in The Age of Augustus
30 BC ~ Octavian was given the title of Imperator, which was used in the Eastern provinces.
Imperium suggests unlimited imperium (or power) (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was the
first of many titles that were to be given to Octavian after his defeat of Mark Antony in 31 BC at the
Battle of Actium. It indicates that the provinces thought Octavian was worthy of being honoured, and
that the power he possessed at the time should remain his. Therefore this was the first factor that
initiated the rise of Octavian.

(Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) The Senate s reaction to Octavian s transfer of power to them was
to beseech Octavian to reverse his decision. After an initial refusal, Octavian accepted their offers,
which left him in a much more powerful place than before. There were two main elements to Octavian
s new position; these were the office of Proconsul and Consul. Proconsul was a position held for 10
years, and granted control over Spain, Gaul, Syria, Cilicia, Cyprus and Egypt, as well has having the
right to appoint legates, make war and conclude treaties. These areas of the empire were in need of the
most defence; therefore, the majority of the Roman army was stationed there. Octavian s control over
these regions now extended to the control of a large section of the Roman army. A Consul was elected
annually and had authority over Rome and Italy. There were several provinces belonging to the
Roman people, and Octavian used his position as Consul to claim power over the proconsuls of such
provinces. He also now had considerable influence over the Senate and the assembly of Roman
citizens. (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) Virgil indicates that Octavian already had the support of
the Senate and the people well before this time, The battle of Actium [31 BC] ... On one side Augustus

  • 2. Stereotyping And Stereotypes Stereotyping someone without knowing someone can bring unwanted conflicts and wrong impressions. The other college students talked about me, as they tended to, not knowing that I could hear what they were saying. Look at her, she looks mean and rude. The look on my face must be ugly, I suppose. Stereotypes always upset me and when the other girls were talking about me was no exception. After hearing what was said I began to grow angry as the elevator started to go up. I was alone, so I started thinking and talking out loud to myself about what was said about me, when the elevator stopped on my door room floor, I realized I shouldn t be that upset, because it was not true. I do not have to prove anybody wrong, or explain myself to anyone until they talked to me to see what they thought of me was wrong. I continued to walk in the direction of my dorm room. I got to my dorm room and I introduced myself to one of my roommates and her family. I picked my bed, dressers, and computer desk. I started unpacking and moving my furniture around to accommodate me. One by one, I put my clothes in the dressers neatly while my family brought the rest of my things into the room. After a couple of hours, I was done unpacking and all I had to do was go to the store and get food, drinks, and other things that I needed. I came back to my dorm and it was time for parents to leave, so I walked my family out and talked to them and told them that I will call them later. Saying bye, was ... • 3. French Nouvelle Vague Movement French Nouvelle Vague, also known as The French New Wave, is one of the most influential and significant movements in the film history. The films produced during French Nouvelle Vague has earned many praises and made a huge impact in the film history. French Nouvelle Vague lasted from the late 1950s to early 1960s. The movement was founded by a group of film critics who wrote for Cahiers du Cinema, a French film journal. In the group of film critics, there were Francois Truffaut, Jacques Rivette, Claude Chabrol, Jean Luc Godard and Eric Rohmer. The film critics were originally writers and they became well known, recognized directors through The French Nouvelle Vague. They were exposed to foreign films after the Nazi censorship ended and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was born in Belgium but worked in France. She was originally a photographer before she released her first film, La Pointe Courte. She is considered as one of the significant figures in the French Nouvelle Vague. She often collaborates with filmmakers from the left bank. Her films were categorized as feminist as she usually uses female protagonist. Representable film from Agnes Varda were La Pointe Courte, which was released in 1955, Cleo from 5 to 7, which was released in 1962 and Jacquot de Nantes, which was released in 1993. If the French Nouvelle Vague didn t happen and amazing directors of the movement didn t exist, movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield wouldn t be the same without it. This shows the importance of The French New Wave and the techniques and theories that came along with it. Movies nowadays adapt those techniques and theories to look like they are today. The movement also gives out a message that proves, without expensive and high technology filming equipments or expensive fancy sets, great films could be made. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hunger Banquet Report Yesterday we had a hunger banquet. The class was split up into three groups: the low class, the middle class, and the high class. The low class had half of the class. They were the people that could not afford to support themselves and their families. They earn around 2,000 dollars a year and usually the whole family has the work, even the children. 50% of the world are the low class. They live in poverty. They usually do not have homes and spend all day trying to find food and water, so they can stay alive and not die of starvation. In class the low income class got cold rice and a little bit of water. I started of in the low income class, but then moved up to the middle income class. I think I pull the tasks back in, because I have something to prove to myself as well. • 6. Media Article On The Media Reframing Sexting Media Article Media has been known to stretch many stories throughout history. These misinterpreted stories have increased in the last decade due to more media forms taking place such as Facebook, Twitter, and the wide range of media sources now produced on the internet. One who is searching for accurate information must be careful about what they are are looking for because many articles misrepresent what actually happens. Biased information is very common in experimental findings. There are often media sources that make findings more interesting so that the particular company will get more attention. There are also articles that simply misinterpret data and publish false findings. However, there are also media articles that do publish information correctly. When searching for media articles one must be careful to decipher the information given. Recently, CNN published an article on sexting. Sexting is a frequent topic in the news today, but what stands out is that the news article said that sexting can actually improve relationships. Now, the stereotype that most people have heard about sexting has been negative (and probably rightly so), so this stood out to me as an article that had to be misinterpreting the experiment. This article exhibited some information that was in fact true, but some of the information was also slightly biased. The actual experiment itself rose some questioning. When looking at the article and study in sexting, the important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparing The Economic And Cultural Benefits Of... Introduction Background and Significance: The goal of this action research project is to contrast and compare the economic and cultural benefits of multigenerational households in the Midwest of USA since the economic downturn. This research will focus on multigenerational households of families attending the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Belleville Head Start Center . The families at this particular Head Start are diverse, young parents with low income and other factors that fit the criteria for this project. The center s population would have the perfect variables and characteristics for my project. The project would include information on the economic and cultural aspects of different racial/ethnic groups, elder care, single parents, immigrants, black and Hispanics who live in multigenerational homes. The multigenerational families have become a growing topic of interest. Multifamily households are defined by the U.S. Census as family households consisting of three or more generations (U. S. Census Bureau, 2012). The purpose of this project is to investigate how beneficial it is to families to live in a multigenerational family household. For over twenty years, I have worked with these families and it has been a vital balance to create stability for the family and directly impacted the child. I will use the findings of this action research project to better assist my families to reach a level of self sufficiency. Statement of the Problem: In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Hysteria In Jane Eyre Bertha Mason has become a significant literary character since Charlotte Brontë included her in Jane Eyre in 1847. As discussed in chapter one, there was a social correlation between women and hysteria, and a great fear by women of false committals or home imprisonment by their husbands. Jane Eyre is a novel that plays upon that fear and brings these frightening scenarios to life. Brontë s depiction of Bertha Mason also reveals society s views of hysteria. This is an illness that is difficult to understand, and Jane s descriptions of the hysterical woman have a visceral feel to them. This chapter will argue that Bertha Mason is a literary response to public debates concerning mental illness, specifically hysteria in women. It will begin with an analysis of her character, from her description to her actions. This analysis will show how Brontë used the knowledge available to society to exploit the fear of the mistreatment of wives while using current treatment methods. This chapter aims to read Bertha Mason not only as the hysterical woman but as a figurative illustration in the novel. Charlotte Brontë includes the phenomenon of women s hysteria in her novel; inasmuch, she depicts characters of different social ranks and how they view the one hysterical woman. Before Bertha Mason introduces as a character to the reader, Jane Eyre describes the distinct laugh she hears while accompanying Mrs Fairfax to the attics as it was a curious laugh; distinct, formal, mirthless and a ... Here s an idea though how about taking cardboard and cups? Now, what can you do with these items? I know. How about you try to do the paper cup walk. It would be amazing if you could stand on dixie cups and just two pieces of cardboard with all your weight. The goal to do with this project is to not crush one dixie cup. Also you should try cutting out the bottom of the cups and see if you can stand on them without crushing one cup. Everyone does this experiment different that is why it is fun. Tension is the state of being stretched tight. For example if you have a piece of paper and you try to stretch it won t this is called tension. If you cut out the bottom of a cup the tension is gone. If you try to replace the bottom of the paper cups with something else for example, sand you can also see that the sand replaces the bottom of the cups. The sand replaces the base to make it even stronger than it was before. The sand s replacing the tension which causes the cups to stretch back out again and make this experiment a lot more interesting. Compression is the last thing going on here in this experiment. Compression is thrust, load, stress, compressing, squeezing, crushing, weight, and heaviness. Take the paper again and after you ve used tension with it let s use compression. If you crush the paper into a ball. This is compression. Now compression is similar to pressure in this project actually, pressure causes compression but they are a little bit different. • 11. Belfast Of Canada Smith s (2015) evaluation of the Toronto as the Belfast of Canada is important because it defines the existence of a strong pro Ulster faction of Irish Protestant that received large scale support from the British government to countermand the rise of Irish Catholicism in the city. In this manner, the term, The Belfast of Canada , defines the undercurrent of hostility and social barriers that created such political and social tensions for Irish Catholics in Toronto in the 1860s. This posthumous term defined the existing struggles between Protestant and Catholic Irish tat would be historically compared to the struggles in Belfast: To them, progress and societal standing could be achieved only if they could identify and eradicate the political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this manner, Irish immigrants all understood the complexity of being in a foreign land, which had different circumstances in relation to life in Canada. The comparison of Toronto to Belfast has its limitations due to the far lesser scale of violence experienced between Irish Protestants and Catholics, but it must also be acknowledged that many Irish immigrants coming over during the Great Famine endured poverty and similar economic conditions. The majority of the Protestant emigrants of the Famine era appear not to have been well off. Most of them spent a few years visiting relatives and working in Carleton or Middlesex counties after arriving from Ireland in the 1850s (Elliot, 2014, p.111). In this deeper analysis of Irish population arriving during the Famine, it is apparent that protestant and Catholic both suffered from poverty after coming to Toronto. Certainly, a majority of immigrants were of Catholic descent, but there were certainly Protestant Irish being forced off their land in Ireland during the Famine. These are important details that define why Toronto was not nearly as hostile as Belfast, since the similar aspects of poverty, Irish nationalism, and Irish culture were shared values in the overall disposition of Irish immigrants ... • 12. Mother Tongue Literary Analysis Mother Tongue by Amy Tan is an example of powerful family love that helps to overcome obstacles. According to Reinhold Niebuhr, family life is too intimate to be preserved by the spirit of justice. It can be sustained by a spirit of love which goes beyond justice. Therefore, a family is a large organism that needs to be nourished and maintained. Mother Tongue is a sentimental and emotional story about a great writer Amy Tan and her lovely mother who struggles from imperfect knowledge of the language of the country in which she lives. Mother Tongue is one of the examples of a pure and honest love in the family of immigrants, who tried to identify themselves in the new society and overcome the language barrier. As a Chinese woman, Amy Tan, whose culture based on respect and veneration of parents, supports and helps her mother on a long way to tide over her broken English. (Tan 119) The connection between a daughter and a mother allows Amy to understand her mother s limited language just by a heart. (Tan 119) Language is a very powerful and strong instrument, but the related blood between the two main characters is capable to express everything without the words. Amy loved her mother so much and did not want to hurt her feelings by calling her English broken or fractured , as if it were damaged and needed to be fixed, as if it lacked a certain wholeness and soundness . Some, like George Orwell in Politics and the English Language, may even argue that the English language is on the decline. In The World of Doublespeak, Lutz claims that doublespeak is a major contributing factor to the decline of the English language as it limits our ability to think crucially. Ultimately, doublespeak is a dangerous phenomenon, and each form of doublespeak comes with its own danger. Doublespeak is language that is not technically a lie but is not the full truth either. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lutz defines jargon as the specialized language of a trade, profession, or similar group (349). This is necessary for professionals to be able to communicate effectively with people of the same profession. On the other hand, jargon can be used pretentiously, making simple concepts appear more complex than they need to be in order to impress an audience. Even something as simple as smelling can be turned into medical sounding nonsense organoleptic analysis (Lutz, 349). When professionals use this language around people that would not be expected to know what they mean, it is purposely confusing. Consequently, this causes people to overlook important details because they cannot comprehend them. Thirdly, gobbledygook is a matter of piling on words, of overwhelming the audience with words (Lutz, 350). This makes people seem cultured and reputable. It sounds impressive as a speech, but then makes no sense when it is fully analyzed as a text. People who speak like this ultimately come across as knowing nothing about what they are saying. This was especially prevalent in NASA s shuttle program, which ultimately led to the Challenger disaster in 1986. Allegory Of The Cave Vs Plato s Cave By writing The Allegory of the Cave or Plato s Cave, Plato tries to convey to people that they must escape the world of illusions and shadows and look at it with other eyes because that is the only way that they can find the true view of the world. In other words what I mean by other eyes is that people should see not only what is presented to them but see what is the real message hidden behind the illusion. People should think outside the box in order to break away from the delusions and discover the reality. Plato s allegory tells us about people s way of thinking about the world. In the essay I will explain why not everyone wants to open his or her eyes, how people are misguided by illusions, and why sometimes it is hard it is to see the reality. To begin with, we as a people have the ability to see but not everyone actually sees things, and often we believe in what is presented to us blindly. In the The Allegory of the Cave or Plato s Cave is written that the power to learn is presented in everyone s soul and that the instrument with which each learns is like eye that cannot be turned around from darkness to light without turning the whole body. By that he means that everybody has the ability to learn things but not everybody wants to see learn them.
