II. Body
A. (Main Point #1)There are a variety of situations that require a tooth to be restored with a dental
crown, and there are a few ways Dentist s determine if a crown is needed.
1.One of the most important tools a Dentists uses to diagnose any treatment is X rays.
The use of radiography enables the dentist to practice better dentistry. This obviously benefits the
patient but also protects the dentist in the event of a dispute with the patient. ( Wolf R. de Lyre
/ Orlen N. Johnson, 1990, p.6)
Radiographs are visible evidence of prior conditions or the nature of work performed and furnish
legal evidence of the patient s dental condition or need for treatment. ( Wolf R. de Lyre/ Orlen N.
Johnson, 1990, P.6)
2. ( Perfessional testimony) Mel L. Kantor DDS, MPH, PhD. has been practicing in the dental

Of Mice And Men Rhetorical Analysis
Through everybody s eyes is their own version of the American Dream. Whether it s the
stereotypical dream with a good job, a family, and a house with a white picket fence, or it could
be just getting by at the end of the month financially. The American Dream doesn t have a specific
image but rather a particular mindset. Lots of people have a goal in their life that they have to
work hard to be successful towards that goal, but in most cases that goal may be unrealistic.
Everybody has a different mindset on how their way of life and what their goals are. In this
generation it is easy to see that people s minds will take them through a journey to achieve their
best way of living. One piece of evidence that points to this is We trample friends, relatives, and
strangers who get in out way of our achieving it; and once we get it we shower it on
psychoanalysts to try to find out why we are unhappy (Steinbeck 2). The author uses the word
trample to demonstrate how we as humans will step on each other to succeed our goals. Trample
gives off a harsh connotation rather than just saying We forget about our friends... . By saying that
it seems as if what we want might not be that important to trample our close ones and even
strangers.Another great piece of evidence that helps supports this is Americans seem to live and
breathe and function by paradox, but in nothing are we so paradoxical as in our passionate belief in
our own myths. (Steinbeck 3) The author uses paradox

The Multiculturalism And Education Policy
Multiculturalism and Education Policy
How we educate our students is a contentious topic. Many stakeholders have different ideas about
what will make our schools more successful. Without going into great detail about the past, it is safe
to say the current paradigm is one of standards and assessment. Schools have gone back to basics
reading, math, science, and little else (Newman, 2013). In order to be considered successful,
schools have resorted to teaching to the standardized tests. Effective school advocates believe that
the country should pay less attention to racial issues and student racial composition of schools and
instead concentrate on academic quality only (Newman, 2006). I do not agree. I do not feel that
school success is an all or nothing venture where we have to decide between concentrating only on
academic quality or multicultural issues. Instead, I think that concentrating on multiculturalism
issues, such as racial issues and racial composition of schools, creates a nurturing and supportive
environment thereby improving academic quality. Although educationis often promoted as a
pathway out of poverty, American educational disparities are such that the families with the
greatest need are often relegated to the least adequate educational resources (Sue Sue, 2013). 60
years after de jure segregation was outlawed, schools are almost as segregated as they were before
desegregation (Hannah Jones, 2014). Such segregation is sometimes called

Social Deviance Essay
When it comes to the hypothetical and useless questions that people often think of, one of the
most persistent ponderings is what would someone do if they were to achieve a very high level
of power such as a being a king. So how would I make such classifications of behaviors that were
to be deemed as deviant from the social norms of my kingdom? That is a question that proved to
be quite intriguing to me as a set forth to come up with a system regarding social deviance. My
ultimate conclusion was the laws regarding such deviance would be limited only to those at which
lead to the violation of the negative rights of others. This would include things such as rape, assault,
and kidnapping in addition to non violent aggressions such as stealing... Show more content on

My reasoning is that many forms social deviance are acts which ultimately are extremely
subjective or relative in terms of their nature. For example, saying things that are perceived as
racist in nature is widely viewed as being deviant of the social norms since they are incredibly
offensive in nature. Thus many areas even have created laws to combat such racist speech since
it defies the social order and also is said to incite people. However such deviance of social norms
(by saying racist comments) is quite relative since there are many contexts where such supposed
racist speech could be within what some would call the social norm depending on how such
speech is handled. One example that I think of would be Ice Cube s classic album Death
Certificate which contains the song Black Korea. The song was removed from the United
Kingdom s release as they felt that the content of the song would be classified as a violation of
laws against racial incitement (which is viewed as being against the social norm in the area). In
some sense finding the song to be a deviant of social standards is quite normal since the language
of the song is very strong and includes language that obviously would be found as offensive to
those of Asian descent. So should the song be banned due to racial incitement that goes against the
social norms ( IT S NOT A BLACK THING ,

Parenting Styles And Styles Of Parenting
Parenting Styles My term paper will discuss the 4 Styles of Parenting, including; the styles of
parenting that we as single parents and couple parents may identify with. My paper will also
discuss how each parenting styles impacts our children, if it works and the style of parenting that s
most effective. Authoritative Parenting Style The Authoritative Style of Parenting, children are
expected to follow the rules and guidelines that a parent with this style of parenting has put into
place. This type of parents are responsive to their children and willing (eager) to listen to questions.
Authoritative parents gives reasonable demands, consistent limits, expresses warmth and affection
which every child, I think, yearns for. Rules are set and reasons behind the rules are explain to
ensure that the child (ren) understands. They re also willing to listen to the child s feelings when
setting these limits. Parents with this style of parenting are flexible and willing to bend the rules in
certain cases for example, allowing the child to stay up an hour pass the normal bedtime, so that the
child can finish watching television. When a child (ren) fail to meet the expectations that an
Authoritative Parent is more of a nurturing and forgiving parent rather than punishing. These types
of parents uses rewards, praises, and positive consequences for good behaviors. Baurmind (1971,
1991) suggests that these parents, monitor and impart clear standards for their children s conduct.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Research Paper
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of the strongest voices in the world presenting a nuanced and

types of muscle but not in any other tissue.
Muscle tissues all have elongated cells.

them different from each other and easy to identify. You need to describe THREE features and

Partisan Policing
In the early stages of the development of policing in the United States there were a lot of issues,
concerns and problems with how police forces functioned through the entire country. All these
Issues were noticed and changes within police departments began to take place. Before any changes
were implemented American PoliceDepartments fell directly under the influence of each state
specific partisan government. Fortunately, America was able to stray away from the corruptions of
how police officers were selected into their position because of their political preferences and also,
how departments functioned, and other exploitations from law enforcement agencies throughout
the country.

officials in charge of selecting police would only select members in favor of their specific
political party. They would do this because they favored certain people to fill the role of a police
officer who shared the same core values, preferences and idealizations that pertained to their
specific political party. Because politicians were in charge of choosing whom they wanted to fill
these roles they were also able to obstruct the management and effected how departments operated.
It was considered that there was no consistency or efficiency within divisions and the primary focus
of the police force was corruption because of politics.

Theme Of Visual Imagery And Symbolism In The Poem Wilfred...
Decapitated Souls: A Study of Visual Imagery and Symbolism in Wilfred Owen s Disabled and
Sylvia Plath s The Applicant
Poetry often harbors an individual s outlook on society and harnesses their feelings into a work
of literature that evaluates the existential situation and holds a mirror to humanity. The poems
Disabled , by World War I poet Wilfred Owen, and The Applicant by Confessional poet Sylvia
Plath, are renditions of self identity. In his poem, Wilfred Owen discusses the dark, post war
neglect faced by a war veteran as he struggles to adapt to his life after being decapitated on the
battlefield and secluded from society. Whereas, Sylvia Plath s monologue illustrates women
essentially stripped of identity and being forced to conform to gender stereotypes. Both poems make
use of visual imagery and symbolism to reflect the discrimination that leads to segregation within
society and dehumanization of spirit.
The poems, Disabled and The Applicant both make use of imagery to identify dehumanization of
spirit, however, both poets approach the idea with different images and perspectives. The anti
war poem exhibits the rejection felt by the wounded speaker, presumably Owen, through solemn
imagery. The poem illustrates that no matter how honorable the speaker s sacrifice appeared, his
role in the post war lifestyle is to be in the sidelines while people touch him like some queer disease
(Owen 13) because of his disability. The poem further moves on to reveal

Disparity Between Passion of the Christ and the Bible Essay
The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus of
Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most anticipated and popular
religious movies in modern society, it therefore becomes susceptible to criticism. Although the film
is based upon the stories within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many
exaggerations and non biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a
movie, but the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the
most publicly criticized themes and concepts present in the movie. The Passion emphasizes the
brutality Jesusendured to give himself for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of independence, but the high
priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy or respect. Even at the voice of the
governor Pontius Pilate, who several times mentions that he doesn t find any guilt or reason to
persecute Jesus, the people still wish for his crucifixion. The movie did not really make sense of
the motivation of the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the
gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out
of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited
the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore, according to
the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be
crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered
outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain
why the Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests
that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are
adamantly screaming for his death, but the gospels do not explain it. The appearance of Satan
within several important scenes of the movie is also something that is not found within the Bible.

truckload before it comes to the store. Also being able to see the shipment a head of time allows
the company to distribute the merchandise to the stores that are in need of the merchandise. This is
a big part of the chain because if the merchandise is not shipped then the company might not be

The Clanton Gang Essay
In the middle and late part of the nineteenth century, the West was a harsh and dangerous place to
live. Bar fights and murders were being committed in every town. This was acceptable behavior
however in those days. Men settled their problems face to face, and normally, the slower man
ended up dead. Gunfighting in the West was started and carried on by a group of men known as the
Clanton Gang. Old Man Clanton was the leader and founder of gunfighting, his sons carried some
of his fights and continued with their own fights, and his last surviving son parted with gunfighting
and started his own successful business.

Modernism In The Wasteland And Wyndham Lewis sTarr
In the past one hundred years there has been a diverse kind of literature often mentioned to as
modern and differentiate it from the current. For where the contemporary refers to a period, the
modern refers to a style. Modern literature may be coming to an end; however, many critics would
argue that given the nature of the society in which we live in, it is merely impossible to bid
goodbye too. The aim of this essay is to focus on T.S. Eliot s The Wasteland and Wyndham Lewis s
Tarr , amongst with other texts to discuss the elements of modernist literature and how cultural
modernismeffects its authors through their portrayal of the modern.
New Paradigms:
T. S. Eliot s The Wasteland can be seen in a form of paradigm, as he liked to use mythical
methods that offered a new way of giving a shape and meaning to the view of disorder which is
modern history. I will also mention the ambiance of The Wasteland and explain Ted Hughes An
assemblage of human cries . And how that relates to the unconventional.
Then I will Introduce Lewis s Tarr and state how The novel balances Tarr s nominal ability to
look at life objectively, from the outside , and to separate his relationship to art from his
relationship to sex, against Kreisler s increasingly clear inability to separate art from life and
sexuality from violence. (Klein, 6)
Avant garde:
This will be the second element discussed. The literal definition would be explained and what is
also means in terms of modernist literature and what roles writers have, in conjunction with this
element I will also include artistic experimentation and how that helped modernist culture. I will
also refer to cubism and surrealism and why it affected literary writers as many visual artists.
Avant Garde in The Wasteland . Fragmentation in the poem.
A form of avant garde which Lewis founded was Vorticism along with Ezra Pound. I will consider
writing into detail regarding vorticism in the book and how that is a response to modernism.
The Unconscious:
Will be explained with reference to Sigmund Freud and his important theory which consists of the
ego, superego, and id. How he thought humans have become civilized by repressing primitive
drives. I will also look at how

Stress
CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Statement of the Research Problem
How do you cope with stress in the workplace to achieve a more balanced lifestyle? Stress is a part
of everybody s life. Depending on the level of stress, it can control our lives, especially in the
workplace. We begin to spend several long hours at work, and thus have less time for other things.
Stressed employees may be unhappy and thus produce nominally. Stress can deteriorate social and
family relationships and eventually burn you out; ultimately it can take toll on your health.
Organizations need to recognize stress as a problem and decide whether or not to act upon it.
Background Information

The research will explore factors causing stress in the workplace and its impact on organizations.
Effective methods of coping with stress will be given, but limited to ones examined in the
secondary resources.
Research Procedures
The project will focus on stress factors in the workplace and effective methods to balance a
healthy lifestyle. The sample group will consist of 30 individuals randomly selected from general
business areas. The survey will be conducted during lunch periods when several employees leave
and return to the workplace.
The questionnaire will attempt to see if the sample individuals believe stress is a problem and
what can be done to resolve it. The questionnaire will be delivered in person and each individual
will fill out the survey at that point.
Since the survey will be conducted in a general public area, no authorization is needed to
administer. Once I receive all the surveys, I will quantify the data into an Excel spreadsheet. I will
report the data mostly in percentages (e.g.
70percent of the individuals acknowledge that stress is a problem in the workplace). The data will
be utilized to see if stress is a factor impacting the American workforce. Stress management
techniques will be presented where appropriate. Additional Information
Data and references will be collected between now October 12, 1996 through
November 5,1996. I will conduct the survey individually. The gathering of references will also be

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of Western Media
Stereotypes have the ability to put a person down. To make them feel as if they do not belong. In
this cruel society, there is an image being portrayed of every individual. Ethnicity, race, religion,
gender, and many more. This image many not describe who you are as an individual, but it is
how you are judged by this barbarous world. As more Chinese people came to America, the more
they were stereotyped. They did not have the same advantages and treatment as the majority. They
were looked down upon as nothing more than cheap, hardworking labor workers who worked in
the fields. Western media portrays the Chinese in a negative way, by using the power of

This causes them to become exhausted, depresses, and self destructive to become the stereotype
that everyone thinks they are (Opinion). It is not a bad thing to strive for good grades and such, but
the media directs it only to the Asian population. No one expects the white, the African American,
or any other race that is not the Asian to be born smart. No one is born naturally like that. It takes
determination and the willpower to work hard and strive to be the best. In the 1800s, after the
California Gold Rush, many Chinese people started moving to the United States looking to
strike gold to send back to their poor families. They worked there as a source of cheap labor in
wool mills, and cigar, shoe, and garment industries (Luo). They were known for being cheap and
hard working. Then in the 1900s, the image of the Chinese changed. They passed African
Americans in average household earnings and closed the wage gap with the whites. They became
widely mentioned as being glorified because they kept their heads down and never complained.
Moving to the 2000s, they became known as threatening degenerates but people were less racist to
them because they proved themselves (Guo). They have moved significantly up the socioeconomic
ladder and became successful. However, they are still not treated fairly. They are continued to be

Sonnets In Shakespeare s Sonnets
Sonnets are known for its rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery love confessions and
tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that cliche topic of love and the
traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not defined by these archetypal features.
Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and Collins s Sonnetsatirically defy those typical
sonnets. However both poems differ, as Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style and
parodies the classic subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be; while
Collins on the other hand, breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of
sonnet structures to define typical sonnet rules.
Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the Petrarchan
style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet form. My mistress eyes
are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument on love cliches, and ends with a
couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The sonnet consists of ten syllables each line,
adhering to the rhythm of the iambic pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme
scheme of an English sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Conversely, Collins attempts to stray from the
general sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style,
as the lines are grouped into one octave, a stanza of eight lines, and one sestet, a stanza of six lines,
in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic
pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn in the beginning of the sestet, a recurrent
feature of a Petrarchan sonnet. Collins begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then
turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone, yet the poems
parody the classic styles of sonnets in different ways.
Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets about love.
However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress through unpleasant ways, in distinct to
typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their lover through

Explain How The Circulatory And Respiratory System
The Living body
Task 2: Use the results from experiments 1 and 2 and research, to explain how the circulatory and
respiratory systems work together to maintain the function of the cells and the body as a whole.
In the human body, the circulatory system consists of the heart, blood vessels, arteries, veins and
capillaries. The heart pumps blood around the body via the veins.
The circulatory system works when nutrients and oxygen are distributed to every cell in the
human body by the blood. The Circulatory system also gets rid of waste products such as carbon
dioxide and urea. The heart and blood vessels together make up the cardiovascular system.
The respiratory system provides the blood with oxygen from the lungs while at the same time the
respiratory system gets rid of carbon dioxide in the blood.
Oxygen is vital for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two nervous systems. One is called the Perphial Nervous system and another is called
the Central Nervous system. However, both nervous systems can fail. One cause of the nervous
system to fail is a condition called Botulism and another is a syndrome called restless legs.
Botulism is a serious illness, which is caused by bacteria named Clostridium botulinum. These
bacteria can be found in in soil, dust and rivers. The bacteria is not harmful but when placed in and
area where it does not have enough oxygen such as in closed tins, jars, bottles, soil and mud it
produces poisonous toxins.
Botulin can affect the nervous system by attacking the brain and the spinal cord. Resulting in
muscle weakness and loss of muscle tone and subsequent paralysis. It normally starts from the
head down to the legs. It can lead to symptoms like blurred or double vision, eyelids dropping and
difficult breathing (Dysphagia) or speaking (Dysarthria). If it is not treated properly, the paralysis
can become permanent and it can also cause a fatal respiratory

Fluoride Water System
Understanding Fluoride Water Systems
Summary: The article highlights that there are certain water systems which use advanced
technology to get rid of harmful contaminants from water like fluoride. This is useful to attain pure
drinking water.
One of the main contaminants that are found in water is fluoride. One should know that the greater
amount of consumption of fluoride can be hazardous to health, so one has to keep in check the
consumption pattern. If you want to get rid of this from your drinking water, then you should install
a water filter that will remove the fluoride, and give you pure drinking water, that is safe from
harmful chemicals and contaminants.
The question that you should ask yourself before purchasing a water filter to ... Show more content

You can purchase an ion exchange based filter that will remove fluoride unlike simple distillation
or chlorine purification process. Again, you can also buy filters which make use of AquaMetix, a
new proprietary filtration technology which removes almost 50 85% of fluoride.
Some companies sell their products claiming that regular carbon filters will remove fluoride, but
this is not entirely correct. Also, you should not be fooled by single multi media cartridge units
that contain a small amount of media in addition to carbon. A cartridge of 100% fluoride removal
media is needed to allow proper contact time for effective fluoride removal from the water.
The water system should remove chlorine, lead and mostly all other chemical and non chemical
contaminants, but at the same time should ensure that the essential minerals are not filtered out and
we get pure drinking water. Take time to find out the most suitable filter at your home or office for
healthy drinking water. You should not hasten in these matters, and find out the system that will
make obtaining fresh fluoride free water

Gender Roles in Shakespeare Essay
It is a peculiar feature of Shakespeare s plays that they both participate in and
reflect the ideas of gender roles in Western society. To the extent that they reflect existing
notions about the proper roles of men and women, they can be said to be a product of
their society. However, since they have been studied, performed, and taught for five
hundred years, they may be seen as formative of contemporary notions about the
relationships between males, females, and power.
Derrida was right in asserting that quot;there is no outside to the text. quot; His claim is that every
text is
affected by every other text and every other speech act. As an instance, most of Shakespeare s

Elizabethan society had a loosely determined set of normal behaviors that are frequently
linked to gender. Despite diffusion of these gender expectations in both time periods (see
Dollimore, Traub), there are definite behaviors that either lie within the constructs of gender or
exceed/transgress patterns accepted as conventional. Through the mechanisms of exaggeration or
transgression, Shakespeare s comedies focus attention on the matter of gender and derive comedy
from the situations created. Characters that are natural representations of their gender do not
contain the same possibilities for comedy.
Beatrice says quot;O, that I were a man quot; (Much Ado About Nothing, IV.i.303), implying in
context that her gender has made it impossible for her to act. Other female characters in
Shakespeare do take on male roles, and whether it is because their true identity is hidden or simply
by virtue of their acceptance as non female, they are able to function in the text in ways
that an undisguised female character could not. Rosalind/Ganymede instructs Orlando in the ways
of love. Viola/Cesario enters Orsino s house and, consequentially, his heart. Portia argues a case
at law; actually serving as a judge in a dispute involving her new husband s best friend. In
assuming a man s role, these women overcome the limitations to which Beatrice finds her sex
subjected.

Random Acts Of Kindness Analysis
Random Acts of Kindness During the week, I decided to engage in some simple acts of
kindness that some people may overlook on a daily basis. The last two, I had done previously,
but chose to list them here so that I can discuss my experience. I opted to do the following deeds:
I let someone go ahead of me in the supermarket. I waited to hold the door open for someone. I
picked up two women with a baby, who were caught in the rain as they tried to make their way to
Walmart. I purchased a lunch for two young boys who were sitting behind my sister and me. I
picked up someone who needed a ride into town and bought them a meal from Mcdonalds. As I
was doing these deeds, I found that most of them came naturally; however, it was partly due to
how I was raised, but most importantly, because I was lead by the Holy Spirit. Whenever a need
must be met, I fill it if I am able. I find that anytime I do something good for someone else,
whether in secret or publicly, I benefit either way because it makes me feel good. I try to get
honest and introspective with myself asking, Why do I/we do good deeds? What is the motivation
behind it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire
to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out (Romans, 7:18). I find that even when I do carry it
out if I am honest with myself, many times it is probably for self gratification. In all of our
depravity, can we honestly say we did it out of the kindness of our hearts? Scripture tells us our
hearts are desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). I have no good, nor is there goodness in me apart
from Christ (Psalm 16:2). I say that because Christ Himself said no one is good, and that all of us
have gone astray. There is no one who does good, not even one (Romans 3:12, New International

“a Rose for Emily”
A Rose for Emily Character Analysis of Miss Emily Grierson A Rose for Emily written by
William Faulkner, is a story of Miss Emily Grierson, a woman who was born into a wealthy
family in the town of Jefferson. She grew up and lived in a huge Victorian home with servants.
After the Civil War, it seems that her family s wealth started to diminish but the Grierson s were
still trapped in the past of their family s wealth. Emily Grierson s past and present life is being

there were still others, older people, who said that even grief could not cause a real lady to

Emily, she takes to him due to the fact that she no longer has her father around to run anyone off
and she is free to court anyone she wants. Emily, though arrogant and stubborn, grows up in a
conservative society where puritan womanhood is firmly believed, so she is well aware of the
power of tradition. Not only does she know the gossips concerning her dating with a Yankee, but
also cares a lot about those rumors, as described in the story She carried her head high enough
even when we believed that she was fallen. It was as if she demanded more than ever the
recognition of her dignity as the last Grierson. (Faulkner 792) This could be the reason why Miss
Emily decides she wants to buy poison from a druggist and gives

In the bible it tells us this, When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters
were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took
as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for
he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also
afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to
them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown (Genesis,6). This is
where the Lord talks about the Nephilim, they were hybrids, half human and half demon. When
Satan was casted down to Earth, his followers were thrown down with him. They then mixed
their DNA with the DNA of a human, creating what is known as the Nephilim. And there was

Deviance, Crime, And Crime

individuals departing from norms and laws in society. The feelings that Deviance and Crime

Analysis Of Nineteen Shades Of Grey
There was a movie which was called Fifty Shades of Grey was released on February 2015. It had
a number of controversies when it was just on show. That was because this film was based on E.
L. James same name novel which has erotic content in the text. Essentially it was a romantic
drama film, but it was divided into R rated movie because of some sex scenes. This movie was
directed by Sam Taylor Johnson with a screenplay by Kelly Marcel. It stars Dakota Johnson as
Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey.
This film was about literature student Anastasia Steele went to interview young entrepreneur
Christian Grey which supposed to be done by her friend Katherine Kavanagh. And she met with
Mr. Gray by accident. When she went into his office, she was falling down so that it made her
impressive. Christian noticed that she was unique and attractive by chatting with her. Likewise,
Ana had been attracted by Christian. But they had to say goodbye, because the interview was

heart. That was their first met. After that Christian found her in a store which she did some part

Optimism And Pessimism In The Great Gatsby
I believe that the three texts that I have studied contained moments of optimism and pessimism
which in turn have shaped my opinion of the general vision and viewpoint. This alludes to the
feelings and emotions portrayed through the omniscient camera in The King s Speech , the morally
inclined narrator Nick Caraway in The Great Gatsbyand the protagonist in the novel Foster . I was
very intrigued to find out more about these societies and the vision the author/director hoped to
convey.
The Great Gatsby opens in the boom years in the summer of 1922, commonly known as the Jazz
Age . The opening is conveyed as a mix of optimism and pessimism. At first we are introduced to

In T.K.S, Bertie faced a barbaric upbringing which he solemnly shared with Logue. This is
evident when he revealed how cruel his nanny was, tunelessly singing She pinch me so I d cry,

my parents to notice. As you can imagine, it caused some stomach problems. This left me feeling
much more sympathetic towards Bertie and further implemented my pessimistic opinion of the
portrayal of children in the past. This is also seen in T.G.G as Pammy, Daisy s daughter is only
seen once during the entire 1920 s novel and we realise that she, like Bertie, had nannies who
took care off her rather than her parents. A sense of negativity is also conveyed towards children
here as Gatsby ,when first introduced to Pammy, was described as looking at the child with
surprise. I don t think he had ever believed in its existence. she is described as an it and Gatsby
then realises that he can t repeat the past with Daisy and that his obsessive longing for her was a
waste of time. I believe that this pessimistic feeling was a factor in his volatility towards Tom in
the Plaza. Similarly in Foster , Mildred like a predator, pounced on the innocent protagonist and
questioned her about the Kinsella s personal affairs such as where does the old dog sleep, Is she
allowed to spend.... . Mildred then inconsiderately informed the little girl of the Kinsella s boy s
passing, stating sure didn t he follow that auld hound of theirs into the slurry tank and drown......

children s lives in a negative

Room 101 Essay
I am here today to convince you that the outrageously rude, belligerent, and hazardous road hogs
also known as cyclists in central London should be put into Room 101. Cyclists are impertinent,
self centred people who feel that whatever they do is correct. They ride around on their annoying
two wheeled children s toys, which have no protection, and they render themselves invisible by
refusing to wear reflective clothing.
The Red light riders are a mysterious bunch of clowns who travel day and night, acting innocently

motorists but yet don t follow simple instructions? Cyclists travelling through a red light are narrow

Cyclists prowl the streets of London knowing that they cause problems to other motorists since a
cycle is the least protected on the roads. No helmets, no florescent clothing, this is what makes
cyclists not welcome in this city. According to the Department of Transport 24 out of 112 road
accidents in 2008 were cyclists. This just shows the threat that cyclists can pose to other motorists
in central London. The deaths of cyclists increases each year, this shows how vital it is to put all
cyclists in Room 101.
The bad mannered, foul mouthed cyclists have no respect for others. From personal experiences,
I have witnessed verbal abuse from a cyclist to another motorist; the car horned for him to move
from the middle and cycle on the left, where he should be! The cyclist was completely furious
with what the motorist had done; this aggression and volatile behaviour shows that they are not
worthy of having the privilege of cycling on the roads of London. We can make a difference by
banishing them to Room 101, as citizens of London, we can make the difference.
No helmet, no safety clothing, what is the world coming too? Wearing safe clothing is an issue but
not wearing a helmet is just absolute nonsense. The clothing is as important as a helmet since it is

Impossible Job Of Child Protective Services
Impossible Job of Child Protective Services The article immediately starts out with a gruesome
horror story that no child should have to endure. Then talks about the history of the cycle we
have fallen into. child protective services has been driven by horror stories that have become a
meta narrative: social workers screw up by missing the telltale signs of abuse, kids get hurt,
laws are reformed, and thus more at risk children are taken out of their homes and given to
loving adoptive families. then goes to say that they do not live happily ever after. That only 20%
of kid come out of the system well adjusted. The article talks about how the media is quick to job
on Social Service for being the cause of childrens deaths and that is why the system takes kids.
The media expects you to remove kids at the warning signs, but not too early because you will
be portrayed as a monster if you violate parents right. Warning signs do not predict the future,
just because a police officer interviews a man who is black and poor, and has committed a
crime before and they think he will commit a crime again, they can not arrest them. The police
officer who had an interview with the man is not going to get blamed for not taking the man off
the streets if that man leaves the interview and commits a crime. So why would a social worker
get the blame? The article basically paints Child Protective Services workers as racists legalized
kidnappers. The removal of children into the system

Administrative Discretion Essay
Administrative Discretion
Melissa T. Massey
Public Administration
13 December 2011
Administrative Discretion
Administrative discretion is a discretionary action is informal and, therefore, unprotected by the
safeguards inherent in formal procedure. A public official, for example, has administrative
discretion when he or she has the freedom to make a choice among potential courses of action.
Abuse of Discretion is the failure to exercise reasonable judgment or discretion. It might provide a
Cause of Action for an unconstitutional invasion of rights protected by the due process clause of
the Constitution (West s Encyclopedia of American Law, edition 2. Copyright 2008 The Gale
Group, Inc). So do I think that public administrators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where administrative discretion can go wrong because it can be bias for personal reasons,
sexual reasons, anything. My question would be what it the faculty members were having their
own personal issues and they could not separate work from home and the allowed there personal
issues control the decisions of the students punishments that could probably effect the rest of their
lives. Another factor of a disadvantage is the sex linked method the female faculty member may
have been an emotional to her decision with the students if they were crying or had a compelling
story of how they would act out oppose to the male faculty member who was demanding as far as
being a disciplinarian. Then we also have to take into consideration age and race could have
played a factor for the faculty in this case. The female had to deal with she was younger so she
may have related to the students as well as being African American which did honestly play a part
back in that time even current statics dated in 2010 showed that African Americans were only 9%
of the teacher population within the whole nation..
In conclusion, administrative discretion has its good points and bad. I do not think that all
government power should have the discretion. As the people of the United States, we should take a
moral and value poll towards the administrators within our government, or like a genuine lie
detector

A Split Between People During The World
Division within Pacific Rim During times of crisis, there is still a division. This division is the
idea of a split between people during an apocalypse. This idea is known as Marxism. Marxism is
the analysis between the working class, which is the majority of the population, and the rich
class, which is the minority of the population. Marxism is used to analyze history through social
and economical views to better understand about the differences in the world. A prime example
of Marxism is the movie Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim is a monster story that shows humanity pitting
against monsters known as Kaijus. Humans of this movie united together to make Jaegers in
order to get rid of the Kaijus. Fighting these monsters is shown as an apocalypse, however
during these times, we can still see a split between people. Through the lens of Marxism, Pacific
Rim portrays it through the social hierarchy and lifestyle of people within the community during
an apocalypse. The working class which is the majority of the population must work to make a
living. Without work, they will not be able to stay alive during the apocalypse. Throughout
Pacific Rim, workers must work hard in order to stay alive. At the beginning of the movie,
Raleigh was a pilot for the Jaeger (Pacific Rim). After tragic events, Raleigh was forced to quit
being a pilot and went to work for building the wall (Pacific Rim). Yeah a man in my
position....travels with the wall, chasing shifts to make a living (Pacific Rim).

Hysterectomy Essay
As previously mention, hysterectomy is the most frequent non pregnancies related surgeries
performed on women in the United States (Qi et al., 2013). Hysterectomies are the 2nd most
commonly performed procedures among women of childbearing age (Everyday Health, 2015). The
majority of women that undergo hysterectomy are usually between the ages of 35 and 54; within
that group women between the ages of 35 and 44 have the highest risk of undergo the procedure
(Right Diagnosis, 2015). 90% of the women are not really medically in need of the procedure,
because they are not life threatening conditions such as uterine fibroid, endometriosis and uterine
prolapse (Everyday Health, 2015). According to National Women s Health Information Center

Some of the risk factors associated with uterine fibroids are African American women, obesity,
and socioeconomic status (SES) and health access (National Institute Health, 2015). African
American Women African American women compared to Caucasian women are more probable
to have hysterectomy surgery (Bower, et al., 2009). The reason for that is African American
women are 2 3 times more likely to be diagnosed with uterine fibroid, which is the primary sign
of hysterectomy surgery (Weiss et al., 2009). The fibroid in African American women tend to
have more profuse amount of tumor, they can be massively large, and are prone to more serve

How To Repair Your Concrete Walkway So It s Safe And Attractive
The walkway to your front door should be kept in good condition so it doesn t ruin the appearance
of your home. Repairing cracks is important so no one trips and falls on your property. Falling on
concrete could break a bone or cause a head injury. You could even get sued for not maintaining
your walkway properly and creating a hazard. Here are a few tips for repairing cracks in your
concrete walkway and improving its appearance.
Fill In The Cracks
You can probably fill in small cracks yourself. Start by cleaning your walkway to get rid of sand
and dirt. Focus on getting debris and weeds out of all the cracks. You can buy concrete crack
filler in a squeeze container that s easy to use. Just squeeze the filler into the crack and scrape off
the excess, so the surface is level. Filling big cracks takes a little more work. To get the filler to
adhere properly, you ll need to widen the bottom of the crack. With the bottom wider than the top,
the filler will be trapped in place.
Use a pick and hammer to knock pieces of concrete loose from the bottom of the crack, being
careful not to make the top of the crack any wider. You may want to buy a bag... Show more

Call a concrete contractor to take a look and offer an opinion. Grinding the higher side of the
crack will make your walkway even again, and it is much less expensive than tearing out part of
the sidewalk and putting in new concrete. The contractor can grind away all raised portions of
your sidewalk so it is level and safe. The contractor can fill in the cracks and apply a coating on
the concrete to restore its appearance, or leave that job to you. Another time you may need to hire
a contractor is when your walkway has crumbling sides. Those need to be repaired by creating a
wooden frame along the walkway and then filling it in with

Peloponnesian War Essay
There were two sides to the Peloponnesian War, Sparta and Athens. Athens was the head of the
Delian League, and Sparta was the head of the older Peloponnesian League. The war lasted from
approximately 460 to 404 BCE. There were two parts of the war. The first lasted from 406 to 446
BCE. The second part, the most important stage, was from 431 to 404 BCE. Both Spartaand Athens
were two very powerful forces in Ancient Greece(Cartwright). They never really trusted or liked
each other. Even though they united against Persia together, they never could get along. The two
city states had some fights every once in awhile. To help prevent this, they created a treaty in 445

Some of which included the ongoing rivalry of the two city states. They both felt intimidated by
the other s growing power. Sparta feared Athens naval power and their allies. Second, Sparta was
threatened by Athens project to reconstruct their Long Wall. It would keep their harbor of Piraeus
safe from outside forces. They were also scared that the other dominate city state, Corinth would
align with Athens (Cartwright). Third, a fight between two other city states, Corcyra and
Corinth broke out. Athens decided to helped Corcyra, but Sparta helped Corinth. Sparta chose to
try to keep the peace and not go against the treaty at first. To negotiate this, Sparta decided to ask
Athens to get rid of the law that one of the people apart of the Peloponnesian League could not
trade with Athens. The Delian League rejected this negotiation. Therefore, a message was sent
by the Peloponnesian League that said, Sparta wants peace. Peace is still possible if you will
give the Greeks their freedom. Perikles, a politician in Athens, asked the people of the city state
to vote to go to war. He said they were stronger than Sparta because of their powerful navy (Gard).
Moreover, a war broke out between Sparta and

types of light, light in space, light intensity and how to detect and measure the light transmitted.
Light intensity is the amount of energy transmitted from a light source and in this lab report I will

Since this graph does not show any outliers, I thought that the line of best fit should be
polynomial since the polynomial curve. I think this because the curve passes through most of
the data points and is the closest R2. These are a bigger difference in the value of 0,02 cm and
0,04 cm. I think this happened because the holes that were being blocked by the overlapping of
the cloth in value 0,04 were more than in the value of 0,02 cm. The more holes getting blocked
by the overlapping of the cloth will cause the light to not be able to pass through which then
causes the results to be low. This is a pattern that we also can see. Starting form value 0,04 to 0,10
then results do not have as big of a difference as 0,02 and 0,04

Analysis Of V For Vendetta By James Mcteigue
It s a title with a strong letter used as somewhat like a alliteration to exaggerate the ideas within
this film, V for Vendetta , directed by James McTeigue, this defines what the true meaning of
injustice which seems to be over exaggerated through action, sci fi and thriller scenes. V for
Vendetta is a type of film where in a future, where there was a British tyranny or corruption in the
government, a shadowy freedom fighter plots to overthrow it with the help of a young woman.
This film shows the message of the best advice is to stop fighting it and embrace the fact that you
have been given an opportunity if you chose to view it with a different set of eyes. And yet there
will be many who miss this opportunity as they feel a false sense of security operating in the belief
systems that harbor fear, anger and hate rather than letting go to face the very emotions that enslave
them. This film uses fancy quotes or catch phrases, with a strong act of violence in acting around
the main character(s), especially the protagonist V and to the eventuality, Evey at the end of the
story. Special effects and the fanatical costume visuals (with the famous Guy Fawkes mask) all is
used intently to make the audience with a tint of exhilarance, to make them think, what does this
mean? What is the idea that V is trying to show in injustice? Through elements found in the film I

An Analysis Of Mechanical Solidarity
Last month, Harvey Weinstein, an extremely successful Hollywood producer, was accused of
sexual harassment and assault by many women. Following the occurrence, other highly respected
men, particularly those involved in the movie industry, have also been accused of similar offences.
There has been a snowball effect of allegations as more recent incidents have been mentioned that
encourage victims of earlier incidents to come forward. These accusations, previously hidden and
ignored, are being mentioned now because of improved social networks amongst women, stronger
solidarity against the issue of sexual offences, and feminist politics in rape response. To understand
social networks, relationships and their forms are analyzed. In those networks... Show more content

By providing care and assistance to victims of sexual assault, rape crisis centres are effective and
lasting products of second wave feminism (Corrigan 2014). Although rape crisis centres are
institutions created by feminist politics, workers refuse to use the term feminist as a label for their
services (Corrigan 2014). According to Corrigan (2014), the label rejection is a useful tactic in
keeping the feminist movement alive in politic; the label rejection keeps feminism versatile.
Although rape crisis centres have been successful, the institutions continue to face obstacles as a
result of being politically marginalized. Relating back to Simmel and Wolff (1950) and social
network analysis, strong ties are meaningful ties where relationships between individuals and
groups can benefit. However, the marginalization can make the ties weak by preventing access to
potential resources provided by national connections (Corrigan

its future growth potential. Relative to this assertion, it is vital for Apple Inc. to align its
procurement processes and supplier choices not only with the demands of its consumers but also
the demands of business in general. Rafdahl (2014) provided 7 steps for a company to maximize
its sourcing effort. Apple Inc. can consider this step by step process to meet future demands.

Market Analysis. Rafdahl (2014) asserted that companies should have a list not only of incumbent
suppliers, but also potential alternative ones. In line with this assertion, it is significant for Apple
Inc. to know suppliers which have good service reputations. Further, the company must also
determine what the suppliers can offer, such as its expertise to meet Apple s high standard and its
ability to fulfill both the present and future needs. Apart from these, the suppliers should
consistently deliver quality products and services, and promote ideas and products that would
advance Apple s competitiveness, profitability, and success. 4.Strategy. Although Apple s strategy
is already commendable, it is necessary for the company to develop strategies to meet the
changing conditions of business. Rafdahl (2014) believed that in doing so, it should consider the
collaborative efforts it must undertake together with its suppliers to increase efficiencies and
reduce costs. Further, Apple must yearn to enhance its business process so that its products are
also improved. Considerably, there is also a need for Apple to have inventory reduction and

There are numerous issues that immigrants encounter that create hardships for one, like Trump s

thinking otherwise about moving to a new country, where it is different. Having friendships and

King Lear Gender Roles
Gender in King Lear
During the early 17th century, women had very little influence over social, political, and economic
relations. Shakespeare s female characters Goneril and Regan, in The Tragedy of King Lear (1623),
defies this standard. I find that Goneril and Regan s actions throughout the play precedent aspects
of modern feminism, as suggested by Judith Butler in Performative Acts and Gender Constitution:
An Essay in Phenomenology and Feminist Theory. It is apparent, Shakespeare was ahead of his

(Main Point #1)There are a variety of situations that require a tooth to be restored with a dental crown, and there are a few ways Dentist s determine if a crown is needed. 1.One of the most important tools a Dentists uses to diagnose any treatment is X rays. The use of radiography enables the dentist to practice better dentistry. This obviously benefits the patient but also protects the dentist in the event of a dispute with the patient. ( Wolf R. de Lyre / Orlen N. Johnson, 1990, p.6) Radiographs are visible evidence of prior conditions or the nature of work performed and furnish legal evidence of the patient s dental condition or need for treatment. • 4. Of Mice And Men Rhetorical Analysis Through everybody s eyes is their own version of the American Dream. Whether it s the stereotypical dream with a good job, a family, and a house with a white picket fence, or it could be just getting by at the end of the month financially. The American Dream doesn t have a specific image but rather a particular mindset. Lots of people have a goal in their life that they have to work hard to be successful towards that goal, but in most cases that goal may be unrealistic. Everybody has a different mindset on how their way of life and what their goals are. In this generation it is easy to see that people s minds will take them through a journey to achieve their best way of living. One piece of evidence that points to this is We trample friends, relatives, and strangers who get in out way of our achieving it; and once we get it we shower it on psychoanalysts to try to find out why we are unhappy (Steinbeck 2). The author uses the word trample to demonstrate how we as humans will step on each other to succeed our goals. Trample gives off a harsh connotation rather than just saying We forget about our friends... . By saying that it seems as if what we want might not be that important to trample our close ones and even strangers.Another great piece of evidence that helps supports this is Americans seem to live and breathe and function by paradox, but in nothing are we so paradoxical as in our passionate belief in our own myths. (Steinbeck 3) The author uses paradox ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Multiculturalism And Education Policy Multiculturalism and Education Policy How we educate our students is a contentious topic. Many stakeholders have different ideas about what will make our schools more successful. Without going into great detail about the past, it is safe to say the current paradigm is one of standards and assessment. Schools have gone back to basics reading, math, science, and little else (Newman, 2013). In order to be considered successful, schools have resorted to teaching to the standardized tests. Effective school advocates believe that the country should pay less attention to racial issues and student racial composition of schools and instead concentrate on academic quality only (Newman, 2006). I do not agree. I do not feel that school success is an all or nothing venture where we have to decide between concentrating only on academic quality or multicultural issues. Instead, I think that concentrating on multiculturalism issues, such as racial issues and racial composition of schools, creates a nurturing and supportive environment thereby improving academic quality. Although educationis often promoted as a pathway out of poverty, American educational disparities are such that the families with the greatest need are often relegated to the least adequate educational resources (Sue Sue, 2013). 60 years after de jure segregation was outlawed, schools are almost as segregated as they were before desegregation (Hannah Jones, 2014). Such segregation is sometimes called ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Social Deviance Essay When it comes to the hypothetical and useless questions that people often think of, one of the most persistent ponderings is what would someone do if they were to achieve a very high level of power such as a being a king. So how would I make such classifications of behaviors that were to be deemed as deviant from the social norms of my kingdom? That is a question that proved to be quite intriguing to me as a set forth to come up with a system regarding social deviance. My ultimate conclusion was the laws regarding such deviance would be limited only to those at which lead to the violation of the negative rights of others. This would include things such as rape, assault, and kidnapping in addition to non violent aggressions such as stealing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My reasoning is that many forms social deviance are acts which ultimately are extremely subjective or relative in terms of their nature. For example, saying things that are perceived as racist in nature is widely viewed as being deviant of the social norms since they are incredibly offensive in nature. Thus many areas even have created laws to combat such racist speech since it defies the social order and also is said to incite people. However such deviance of social norms (by saying racist comments) is quite relative since there are many contexts where such supposed racist speech could be within what some would call the social norm depending on how such speech is handled. One example that I think of would be Ice Cube s classic album Death Certificate which contains the song Black Korea. The song was removed from the United Kingdom s release as they felt that the content of the song would be classified as a violation of laws against racial incitement (which is viewed as being against the social norm in the area). In some sense finding the song to be a deviant of social standards is quite normal since the language of the song is very strong and includes language that obviously would be found as offensive to those of Asian descent. So should the song be banned due to racial incitement that goes against the social norms ( IT S NOT A BLACK THING , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Parenting Styles And Styles Of Parenting Parenting Styles My term paper will discuss the 4 Styles of Parenting, including; the styles of parenting that we as single parents and couple parents may identify with. My paper will also discuss how each parenting styles impacts our children, if it works and the style of parenting that s most effective. Authoritative Parenting Style The Authoritative Style of Parenting, children are expected to follow the rules and guidelines that a parent with this style of parenting has put into place. This type of parents are responsive to their children and willing (eager) to listen to questions. Authoritative parents gives reasonable demands, consistent limits, expresses warmth and affection which every child, I think, yearns for. Rules are set and reasons behind the rules are explain to ensure that the child (ren) understands. They re also willing to listen to the child s feelings when setting these limits. Parents with this style of parenting are flexible and willing to bend the rules in certain cases for example, allowing the child to stay up an hour pass the normal bedtime, so that the child can finish watching television. When a child (ren) fail to meet the expectations that an Authoritative Parent is more of a nurturing and forgiving parent rather than punishing. These types of parents uses rewards, praises, and positive consequences for good behaviors. Baurmind (1971, 1991) suggests that these parents, monitor and impart clear standards for their children s conduct. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is a human rights activist and feminist who is dedicated to changing our society one step at a time. Adichie grew up in a traditional African household where women were told that they would not have a voice because of limiting factors like their religion, gender, and race. Partisan Policing In the early stages of the development of policing in the United States there were a lot of issues, concerns and problems with how police forces functioned through the entire country. All these Issues were noticed and changes within police departments began to take place. Before any changes were implemented American PoliceDepartments fell directly under the influence of each state specific partisan government. Because politicians were in charge of choosing whom they wanted to fill these roles they were also able to obstruct the management and effected how departments operated. • 12. Theme Of Visual Imagery And Symbolism In The Poem Wilfred... Decapitated Souls: A Study of Visual Imagery and Symbolism in Wilfred Owen s Disabled and Sylvia Plath s The Applicant Poetry often harbors an individual s outlook on society and harnesses their feelings into a work of literature that evaluates the existential situation and holds a mirror to humanity. The poems Disabled , by World War I poet Wilfred Owen, and The Applicant by Confessional poet Sylvia Plath, are renditions of self identity. In his poem, Wilfred Owen discusses the dark, post war neglect faced by a war veteran as he struggles to adapt to his life after being decapitated on the battlefield and secluded from society. Whereas, Sylvia Plath s monologue illustrates women essentially stripped of identity and being forced to conform to gender stereotypes. Both poems make use of visual imagery and symbolism to reflect the discrimination that leads to segregation within society and dehumanization of spirit. The poems, Disabled and The Applicant both make use of imagery to identify dehumanization of spirit, however, both poets approach the idea with different images and perspectives. The anti war poem exhibits the rejection felt by the wounded speaker, presumably Owen, through solemn imagery. The poem illustrates that no matter how honorable the speaker s sacrifice appeared, his role in the post war lifestyle is to be in the sidelines while people touch him like some queer disease (Owen 13) because of his disability. The poem further moves on to reveal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Disparity Between Passion of the Christ and the Bible Essay The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most anticipated and popular religious movies in modern society, it therefore becomes susceptible to criticism. Although the film is based upon the stories within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many exaggerations and non biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a movie, but the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the most publicly criticized themes and concepts present in the movie. The Passion emphasizes the brutality Jesusendured to give himself for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of independence, but the high priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy or respect. Even at the voice of the governor Pontius Pilate, who several times mentions that he doesn t find any guilt or reason to persecute Jesus, the people still wish for his crucifixion. The movie did not really make sense of the motivation of the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore, according to the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain why the Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are adamantly screaming for his death, but the gospels do not explain it. The appearance of Satan within several important scenes of the movie is also something that is not found within the Bible. Satan appears ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was acceptable behavior however in those days. Men settled their problems face to face, and normally, the slower man ended up dead. Gunfighting in the West was started and carried on by a group of men known as the Clanton Gang. Old Man Clanton was the leader and founder of gunfighting, his sons carried some of his fights and continued with their own fights, and his last surviving son parted with gunfighting and started his own successful business. • 16. Modernism In The Wasteland And Wyndham Lewis sTarr In the past one hundred years there has been a diverse kind of literature often mentioned to as modern and differentiate it from the current. For where the contemporary refers to a period, the modern refers to a style. Modern literature may be coming to an end; however, many critics would argue that given the nature of the society in which we live in, it is merely impossible to bid goodbye too. The aim of this essay is to focus on T.S. Eliot s The Wasteland and Wyndham Lewis s Tarr , amongst with other texts to discuss the elements of modernist literature and how cultural modernismeffects its authors through their portrayal of the modern. New Paradigms: T. S. Eliot s The Wasteland can be seen in a form of paradigm, as he liked to use mythical methods that offered a new way of giving a shape and meaning to the view of disorder which is modern history. I will also mention the ambiance of The Wasteland and explain Ted Hughes An assemblage of human cries . And how that relates to the unconventional. Then I will Introduce Lewis s Tarr and state how The novel balances Tarr s nominal ability to look at life objectively, from the outside , and to separate his relationship to art from his relationship to sex, against Kreisler s increasingly clear inability to separate art from life and sexuality from violence. (Klein, 6) Avant garde: This will be the second element discussed. The literal definition would be explained and what is also means in terms of modernist literature and what roles writers have, in conjunction with this element I will also include artistic experimentation and how that helped modernist culture. I will also refer to cubism and surrealism and why it affected literary writers as many visual artists. Avant Garde in The Wasteland . Fragmentation in the poem. A form of avant garde which Lewis founded was Vorticism along with Ezra Pound. I will consider writing into detail regarding vorticism in the book and how that is a response to modernism. The Unconscious: Will be explained with reference to Sigmund Freud and his important theory which consists of the ego, superego, and id. How he thought humans have become civilized by repressing primitive drives. I will also look at how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Sonnets In Shakespeare s Sonnets Sonnets are known for its rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery love confessions and tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that cliche topic of love and the traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not defined by these archetypal features. Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and Collins s Sonnetsatirically defy those typical sonnets. However both poems differ, as Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style and parodies the classic subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be; while Collins on the other hand, breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of sonnet structures to define typical sonnet rules. Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the Petrarchan style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet form. My mistress eyes are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument on love cliches, and ends with a couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The sonnet consists of ten syllables each line, adhering to the rhythm of the iambic pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme scheme of an English sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Conversely, Collins attempts to stray from the general sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style, as the lines are grouped into one octave, a stanza of eight lines, and one sestet, a stanza of six lines, in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn in the beginning of the sestet, a recurrent feature of a Petrarchan sonnet. Collins begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone, yet the poems parody the classic styles of sonnets in different ways. Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets about love. However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress through unpleasant ways, in distinct to typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their lover through ... To the extent that they reflect existing notions about the proper roles of men and women, they can be said to be a product of their society. However, since they have been studied, performed, and taught for five hundred years, they may be seen as formative of contemporary notions about the relationships between males, females, and power. Despite diffusion of these gender expectations in both time periods (see Dollimore, Traub), there are definite behaviors that either lie within the constructs of gender or exceed/transgress patterns accepted as conventional. Through the mechanisms of exaggeration or transgression, Shakespeare s comedies focus attention on the matter of gender and derive comedy from the situations created. Characters that are natural representations of their gender do not contain the same possibilities for comedy. Beatrice says quot;O, that I were a man quot; (Much Ado About Nothing, IV.i.303), implying in context that her gender has made it impossible for her to act. The last two, I had done previously, but chose to list them here so that I can discuss my experience. I opted to do the following deeds: I let someone go ahead of me in the supermarket. I waited to hold the door open for someone. I picked up two women with a baby, who were caught in the rain as they tried to make their way to Walmart. I purchased a lunch for two young boys who were sitting behind my sister and me. I picked up someone who needed a ride into town and bought them a meal from Mcdonalds. As I was doing these deeds, I found that most of them came naturally; however, it was partly due to how I was raised, but most importantly, because I was lead by the Holy Spirit. Whenever a need must be met, I fill it if I am able. I find that anytime I do something good for someone else, whether in secret or publicly, I benefit either way because it makes me feel good. Perhaps everyone is truly composed of multiple personalities embodied within one whole. Whether these split personalities are actual or purely metaphorical, no one human being has a single sided mind, and a single sided position on everything. Within the brain many battles are raged between opposing sides of issues, between the personalities. Goblin Market is one of Christina Rosetti s sister poems, a form in which she used sisters to represent different aspects of the split personality that was caused by conflicting attitudes and mixed emotions towards love (Bellas 66). Laura is the wild, passionate sister, unafraid to hold back her feelings. In two of the first lines involving the sisters these personalities are developed. In response to the goblin men Lizzie veiled her blushes a modest gesture, hiding her femininity. Laura, however, bowed her head to hear. The initial impression is of modesty from the act of bowing her head, yet a curiosity is displayed because she bows her head to hear. Lizzie then tells Laura that she should not peep at goblin men. This warning seems parroted in response. A lesson told by someone that the conservative Lizzie does not question. Despite this warning Laura rear[s] her glossy head to look. Cyclists are impertinent, self centred people who feel that whatever they do is correct. They ride around on their annoying two wheeled children s toys, which have no protection, and they render themselves invisible by refusing to wear reflective clothing. No helmets, no florescent clothing, this is what makes cyclists not welcome in this city. According to the Department of Transport 24 out of 112 road accidents in 2008 were cyclists. This just shows the threat that cyclists can pose to other motorists in central London. The deaths of cyclists increases each year, this shows how vital it is to put all cyclists in Room 101. The bad mannered, foul mouthed cyclists have no respect for others. From personal experiences, I have witnessed verbal abuse from a cyclist to another motorist; the car horned for him to move from the middle and cycle on the left, where he should be! The cyclist was completely furious with what the motorist had done; this aggression and volatile behaviour shows that they are not worthy of having the privilege of cycling on the roads of London. We can make a difference by banishing them to Room 101, as citizens of London, we can make the difference. No helmet, no safety clothing, what is the world coming too? Another factor of a disadvantage is the sex linked method the female faculty member may have been an emotional to her decision with the students if they were crying or had a compelling story of how they would act out oppose to the male faculty member who was demanding as far as being a disciplinarian. Then we also have to take into consideration age and race could have played a factor for the faculty in this case.
