Naomi Wolf
I found the film of the lecture given by Naomi Wolf to be exceptionally interesting and thought
provoking. The beginning of her discussion surrounding the topic of beauty and the reason women are
seemingly so obsessed with it was presented in a way that I have never considered myself. The idea
that the media and culture surrounding women is one of a purposeful preoccupation with beauty and
the conceived notions of what that means is very striking. To continue the discussion about her idea
surrounding women and girls and their preoccupation with beauty standards it is easy to segue the
conversation into the dangers of this preoccupation. The numerous repercussions of this preoccupation
with unrealistic beauty standards is manifested in both physical and mental effects. One of the effects
that was discussed to a large extent is eating disorders, which affects both the physical and mental
aspects of a woman s (or man s) well being. The effects of eating disorders, in particular anorexia
which is categorized by restrictive and obsessive eating behaviors, can be catastrophic. As Naomi
Wolf discussed in a person story about her own eating disorder ... Show more content on

It was obvious to me just watching the film and the shots of the crowd, especially at moments of
interaction, that these unrealistic standards of beauty to one extent or another have an effect on women
from all walks of life. Speaking in the realm of the United States alone it is possible to say that any
woman is who is continuously exposed to mass media, especially from an early age, will be in one
way or another affected by this beauty myth . To what extent the effect is I believe does vary between
ethnicities. This ideal beauty is often portrayed as overwhelmingly blonde and caucasian so I could
see how this would cause even more of a negative impact among women of color than on white

How Technology Helps With The Sales Process And How It Can...
The purpose of this essay is to discuss how technology can assist with the sales process and how it can
develop a trust based relationship between businesses.
Technology plays a very important role in the sales process, as new trends arise such as the use of
mobile applications, social media, database management systems and cloud computing the ability to
store information online and be able to access your data conveniently, everywhere and anywhere you
go as long as you have an internet connection has become the new meta. The concept of selling has
evolved into a many different activities comparatively to just a decade ago. The successful
professional salesperson of today and the future is likely a better listener than a talker (Thomas N.
Ingram, 2011). As mentioned by Thomas, a typical salesperson today are more focuses in developing
long term relationships with their customers rather than the historical methods such as the short term,
heavy selling methodologies. Businesses have moved on, the world has accepted and adopted the new
technology to help improve the sales process. Seller have become more aware of the customer needs
and requirements and are finding new ways to help satisfy them. There are many selling approaches
and are used for different types of selling situations. Each approach has their own distinctive way of
persuading the buyer and can result in different levels of effectiveness. Using technology can have its
benefits and also comes with a cost that can

The Effects Of Video Advertisements On Society Essay
Introduction
Video advertisements are quick and momentary but their influence is pervasive and prolonged. The
power of video advertisements shape norms and common societal expectations on how a person
should look and behave. Overtime these gender roles (societal expectations associated with men and
women) and behaviors become implicit thus implying normal (or in some instances ideal) men and
women should exhibit these qualities and characteristics. Subconsciously, video advertisements
impact a person s perception of what it means and what it takes to be a man or woman. The objective
of this paper is to observe secondary socialization, ...learning behaviors and attitudes associated with
specific situations and roles... , in YouTube video advertisements by comparing recurring patterns,
symbols, statuses, and roles directed to men and women (Lecture Notes Nalkur 7). In addition, this
paper seeks to explain how YouTube video advertisements act as socializing agents by portraying
arguably exaggerated yet stereotypical traits of men and women that influence watchers perceptions
and beliefs about their own gender identity and that of others.
Methods
The approach of this study was to obtain a total of eight YouTube video advertisements. Four of which
focus on women/women s products and the other four video advertisements focus on men/men s
products. The YouTube video advertisements were obtained randomly by watching the YouTube
channels I normally visit. All video ads were obtained

The Sanctuary of the Family Cabin Essay
The Sanctuary of the Family Cabin
The TV in my room blares the sounds of some show in which I am not even interested. There is too
much on my mind for me to worry about the show on television.
I need money. I need a job. My car needs gas. What am I going to do when school starts this fall? My
life is going downhill. I need to get away.
Just before my mind explodes, my father comes in and says, Let s go to the cabin.
That is exactly what I have needed. My family s cabin has been my sanctuary for years. It is where I
go when I need to get away from the chaos of everyday life. It is this way for not only me, but also for
many family members of the three generations who go there.
I stick my hand out of the window of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I look down, I realize that parts of the stairs are buried from dirt sliding down the mountain.
I finally make it to the old wooden deck that extends across the front of the cabin. I look at the old
wood under my feet and wonder how it could possibly hold my weight. The rest of the deck however
is beautiful. My uncles have recently replaced the old wood framing roof. They also repainted the four
pillars holding it and the railing on the side a dark forest green. The entire cabin is covered in a light
tan brown color to keep a natural look. I walk to the middle where a group of three trees project out
just inches away from the deck. This was my fortress of solitude for many years as a child. I look over
the deck at the lake and woodland forest surrounding me. The aroma of the evergreens surrounds me,
leaving my mind wonderfully peaceful.
After taking in the beautiful scenery from the deck for a couple of seconds, I walk over to where the
key is hidden and place it in the new locks on a heavy, polished, new wooden door. I hear the deadbolt
click and twist the knob on the door. It creaks open, and a dark, but extremely welcoming sight greets
me. It has been nearly a year since I last saw this stunning place.
I have barely opened the door and already, a feeling of complete serenity has almost totally
encompassed me. The scent that I remember so well flows out from the cabin and into my nose. It is a
mixture of

Positive And Negative Effects Of Religion
Religion is like the numerous amount of languages that exist in the world, diverse and culturally
diffused. Not subject to any one specific group of people or era in time. Religion is a way for people
to express their beliefs, it s a style of living, a way of life that people decide to adopt and live even
throughout many obstacles imposed by society. Even when said obstacles were negative, and
degrading, people in history chose to prevail while simultaneously standing up for their beliefs.
Thankfully the United States has given people the right to practice any religion of their choice freely
and safely, but it hasn t always been like this. Religion has had positive and negative effects on
politics, society, and the economy all throughout history, some more significant than others. Religion
hasn t always been a right that every american citizen is granted, many were neglected this right. From
the colonial times in America, only 1 of the 13 colonies that would later become the U.S, gave their
citizens the right to worship there god or practice their religion of choice. Most colonies appointed a
church for the state, and everyone had to pay and participate at this church, no matter their religious
preference or beliefs, everyone was subjected to follow this rule. Many disagree with this statement,
by declaring that people had the right to worship the god of their choice due to the creation of The
Maryland Toleration Act of 1649. This document is presumed by many to have

Coco Chanel Bibliography
Coco Chanel
At the start of the twentieth century, the idea of women in business seemed crazy. In those days, men
held all the positions of power and made all the decisions about money. They believed that a woman s
place was in the home, looking after her children, cooking for her family and managing the house. If a
woman needed to work she could perhaps find a job in a shop or in a factory, but she had no chance of
working as a businesswoman or a banker or a lawyer.
Women s fashions in the US and Europe at that time supported this idea of their position in society.
Fashionable women wore long dresses that almost touched the ground. This made it difficult for them
to drive a car, ride a horse or even walk quickly. As a result, they ... Show more content on

Some people were frightened, but most were in a good mood. Don t worry, they told each other. The
war will be finished by Christmas. But after a few weeks, it was clear that they were wrong. More and
more men left Deauville to go and fight in the French army. Soon the expensive hotels were changed
into hospitals, full of soldiers who had been hurt in the fighting. The rich Frenchwomen of Deauville
saw that it was their duty to help the French army and many of them took jobs as nurses in the
hospitals or did other kinds of war work. But after a few days they realized that it was impossible to
work in their long dresses. They looked around for different things to wear. They found the answer in
Coco Chanel s new shop. Her simple hats, loose jackets and straight skirts were just what these
women needed. They were stylish, but they allowed women to move around quickly. Coco was soon
selling clothes as fast as she could make them.
For the next three years, Coco travelled between her businesses, while the First World War continued
in the north and east of France. By 1916, over three hundred people were working for her. She soon
made so much money that she could pay back Boy Capek all that she had borrowed. Coco had been
lucky because the war had given her a chance to make her new designs popular. When the war is

Gugu Like The Chinese Government In Mo Yan s Frog
Frog was partly inspired by William Faulkner, in which Mo Yan, the author fictionalized his birthplace
of Gaomi County in Shandong province as Northeast Gaomi Township. Frog is about Gugu (paternal
aunt), the aunt of Tadpole , the novel s narrator that performs various abortions after the
implementation of the One Child Policy.
Mo Yan was born in 1955 to a family of farmers. His real name is Guan Moye and writes under the
penname Mo Yan. In Chinese, it literally means Don t Speak . Mo Yan s work often is characterized
by a darkly comic, sometimes surreal storytelling style. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature
in 2012. Making him the first resident of mainland China to receive the award.

heartlessly placed the policy in action. They do so by forcing vasectomies, implanted intrauterine

According to Yan, I ll take a bath and burn incense before delivering babies for those who follow

when she became the head of the planning committee. She enforced the policies with all her might.
People of Gaomi tried to retaliate with her, but each of them failed in their attempts. It was not until
several mothers died under Gugu s care that she lost her zeal in executing the policy and thought of

Surface Area Volume Ratio Experiment
Surface area / Volume ratio Experiment
Introduction:
The surface area to volume ratio in living organisms is very important. Nutrients and oxygen need to
diffuse through the cell membrane and into the cells. Most cells are no longer than 1mm in diameter
because small cells enable nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell quickly and allow waste to
diffuse out of the cell quickly. If the cells were any bigger than this then it would take too long for the
nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell so the cell would probably not survive. Single celled
organisms can survive as they have a large enough surface area to allow all the oxygen and nutrients
they need to diffuse through. Larger multi celled organisms need specialist ... Show more content on

Interpretation:
In all the blocks of gelatin the rate of penetration of the hydrochloric acid from each side would have
been the same but all the blocks take different amounts of time to clear because they are different
sizes. As the blocks get bigger it takes longer for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse through the entire
block and so clear the dye. It takes longer to reach the centre of the cube even though the rate of
diffusion is the same for all the cubes.
As the volume of the blocks goes up the Surface Area / Volume ratio goes down. The larger blocks
have a smaller proportion of surface area than the smaller blocks.
When the surface area to volume ratio goes down it takes longer for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse
into the cube but if the ratio goes up then the hydrochloric acid diffuses more quickly into the block of
gelatin. Some shapes have a larger surface area to volume ratio so the shape of the object can have an
effect on the rate of diffusion.
By increasing the surface area the rate of diffusion will go up.

M.C. Escher Essay
M.C. Escher occupies a unique spot among the most popular artists of the past century. While his
contemporaries focused on breaking from traditional art and its emphasis on realism and beauty,
Escher found his muse in symmetry and infinity. His attachment to geometric forms made him one of
modernism s most recognizable artists and his work remains as relevant as ever.
Escher s early works are an odd mix of cubism and traditional woodcut. From these beginnings, one
could already note Escher s fondness for repetition and clean shapes. While simple and exploratory,
these works were the signs of a nascent art career.
Beginning in the mid 1930s, Escher s work turned very pointedly to the style we associate with him
today. Some of his most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something that recurs references itself. The reflection in a mirror of a mirror is recursive: the reflected
mirror is reflecting its own image and doing so indefinitely. You ve also likely seen the Droste effect
when using camcorders hooked up to a TV or a computer: when the camcorder is looking at the
screen, you can see an infinite series of screens generate themselves, since the camcorder is recording
the same image that it s sending to the screen. The game Portal is a great example of recursion, when
two portals could be opened side by side in a narrow space and looking in either one produced an
infinite series of the same image.
Escher combined recursion and pattern repetition in a unique way. Some of the works featuring this
combination exhibits some complex mathematical and physical ideas, but to the casual viewer the
works are sublime. The swans image above features this sort of combination. Note that the swans are
tiled very precisely, with the same distance from adjacent swans and swans in the next row. Note also
that they are in a closed loop, which is one construct made possible with recursion.
The above image is an example of the Mandelbrot set. The Mandelbrot set, along with other sets, is an
example of a fractal. Fractals are fundamentally based on the idea of infinite recursion. If you zoom in
to a particular spot in the fractal, you ll perhaps see a different arrangement of patterns, but you would
still be able to

Value Chain Analysis By Jim Riley
Jim Riley published study notes about value chain analysis and he teaches that value chain analysis
describes the activities that take place in a business and relates these activities to an analysis of the
competitive strength of the business. This paper includes comparing and contrasting two articles. The
first article is The 7 Steps of Software Development Case Study Chapter 1 but the second one is Value
Chain Analysis by Jim Riley. Also, these two articles will be applied to the company Pep Boys, which
I chose to do the value chain analysis to. Since I do not work yet, I chose Pep Boys because my close
friend works there as a vice president of marketing. There are seven traditional steps that can go bad in
a software development project but if you follow all these steps than your software project is going to
be in a better shape and it should not have that many crashes. The first step is preliminary
investigation or analysis, where software developers and project managers clarify the requirements to
project sponsors. Second is specification and requirements analysis, which involves taking the
requirements and describing them in a way meaningful to programmers. The third step is design or
architecture, which gets into more low level details. The next step is where the program is built, also
called as development or coding. The fifth step is testing and documentation, which makes sure that
the program functions as required and that the program s functionality is

Telemedicine Ethical Dilemmas
The use of various forms of technology by people from all areas of the world expands seemingly
everyday. The prominence of technology has allowed for people to virtually connect from different
sides of the globe. As technology has grown, however, there has been increasing ethical concerns as to
whether the intent of various connection platforms (such as, Skype , FaceTime , etc.) have
overreached personal boundaries. Platforms as simple as chat rooms that allow people to connect via
text, and as advanced as global news/email servers have been intercepted by hackers with intent to
invade privacy and steal confidential information. For example, in 2016 the United States formally
indicted two Russian hackers, with dozens of cyber security offenses, that were behind the theft of
over 500 million Yahoo accounts in 2014 (Volz). These charges, which came during possible

Essay On Malicious Algorithms
In [10], author proposed a scheme which identifies the malicious nodes by using aggregate signature
algorithm. It associates three algorithms.
(1) The proof creating algorithm: Whenever the nodes involved in a communication receive a
message, they create a proof that is based on aggregate signature algorithm.
(2) The checkup algorithm: This algorithm is called when the source node suspects that the
transmitted packets are dropped. If the destination reports that it does not receive all transmitted
packets, it will invoke this algorithm to detect the malicious node.
(3) The diagnosis algorithm: works with the results of check up algorithm. Simulation is done in ns2

Performance metrics are measured which shows that packet loss is less than AODV. Packet Loss
increases as mobility increases. In route discovery process, an intermediate node will try to create a
route and this route should not contain a node whose legitimacy ratio lesser the lower threshold level.
[18] Proposed a black hole avoidance scheme. An enhancement is made in the AODV routing protocol
to eliminate the black hole. The source first sends the route request and waits for responses from all
neighboring nodes with which it gets a reliable route. According to this proposed scheme the source
node should not send data packets immediately after receiving the first reply. Timer Expired Table is
used to set timer after the reception of first reply. This table stores the sequence number of the packet.
Collect Route Reply Table is used to store arrival time. Node s waiting time depends on the distance.
Entries in the table help to identify malicious node.
[19] presented a black hole detection scheme. In this method, when the source node receives RREP
packets, it generates a new RREQ. RREQ has the highest sequence number and it is unicast through
the route which the RREP packet was received. Malicious node generates a RREP with highest
sequence number on receiving RREQ. Malicious node sends the fake RREP packet to the source node.
Now source identifies the malicious node. This method has very less overhead.

outcome. Cleófilas in Sandra Cisneros Woman Hollering Creek and Rosa from Cynthia Ozick s The

relationship for being a societally unacceptable single mother. Cleófilas once believed that it would be
a disgrace ... [to come] home ... with one baby on her hip and one in the oven (50). It is hard enough
that Cleófilas is a married woman who is leaving her husband, but to make her situation worse she is
pregnant and already has a young son. People can be very mean especially to single mothers. Cleófilas
was also concerned about being the center of gossip (50). It was not the norm for wives to leave their
husbands and domestic abuse is not a topic that is frowned upon in the work because men saw their
wives as disposables. Because Cleófilas was absorbed into the novelty of marriage that telenovelas,
Hispanic soap operas, depicted, she had to learn that soap operas poorly depicted real relationships the
hard way. Consequentially, she also understood that there are some circumstances like marital abuse
that warrant the need to leave a relationship. When Cleófilas father bid his farewell upon her initial
departure her promised her that he was [her] father, [and he] will never abandon [her] (43). Cleófilas
father is an admirable figure because no matter how far his daughter is, he is willing be there for her.

How Did The Treaty Of Versailles Treaty Affect Germany
On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allies signed The Treaty of Versailles. The treaty established
strict punitive damages in Germany. However, Germany was greatly affected by three significant
cases.
The first case was the physical result of the Treaty. Germany suffered a major territorial loss, for
example, the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine were returned to France and it was not only their
territories but Germany itself. Therefore Germany lost over one million square miles of land.
The second case is about the economic impact of the Treaty. The Treaty of Versailles criticized
Germany for begging the war. This makes Germany responsible for the cost of the war. Reparations
would be paid monthly and would total some £6,600 million. In addition,

When we see these three colors together, we know we are in great spirits because the color purple
symbolizes justice; green symbolizes faith; and yellow symbolizes power. According to Mardi Gras
New Orleans, the colors of Mardi Gras can be traced to the first Rex parade in 1872 (Mardi Gras New
Orleans 1) and are used on the infamous King Cake. The colors were chosen to resemble a jeweled
crown that honored the Wise Men and a plastic baby is placed inside of the cake to embody the day
Jesus showed himself to the three wisemen. Those who get the plastic baby inside of their slice of
King Cake are deemed as the King for the day and have to bring a new cake to the next celebration.
Both the colors and the King cake are very important to the many residents of New Orleans as they

The Germ Theory Of Modern Medicine And Vaccines
Morgan Brewer

10 November 2015
The Germ Theory The germ theory is crucial in the development of modern medicine and vaccines. It
states that many diseases are caused by the presence of specific microorganisms within the body and
that infectious diseases caused by infectious agents. It was a theory developed in the middle 1800 s, by
Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, and Joseph Lister. This theory still underlines contemporary bio
medicine. It s responsible for the reduction in the numbers of infectious diseases. The development of
the theory eliminated environmental, diet, and climate influence on disease. The germ theory is
closely associated with existing ideas about health, hygiene, and sanitation. It encouraged the
reduction of disease to simple interactions with microorganisms and their host. The development was
largely initiated largely by the Industrial Revolution. Infections and disease have been the biggest
challenge to human health. This theory is also known as the Pathogenic Theory of Medicine. It
revolutionized medicine, understanding diseases, and the microorganisms that cause them. Infectious
diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi; the
diseases can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another (World Health Organization).
They evolve from four main different types of germs. These are viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protozoa.

Existentialism In The 1967 Film The Graduate
The 1967 film, The Graduate is a classic film that is bound to stand the test of time. The fictional story
revolves around Benjamin Braddock, a 21 year old graduate who returns home from college and is re
introduced to his father s friend s wife, Mrs. Robinson. Through enticing conversation and alluring
conversation, Mrs. Robinson seduces Ben. After an affair that lasts weeks with Mrs. Robinson, Ben is
introduced to and finds his heart to be with Elaine Robinson. Their relationship is strengthened and
after trials of hardship and rejection, but the taBen and Elaine marry regardless of the wishes of their
families. The film, directed by Mike Nichols, a German native, is riddled with Existentialist, Marxist,
Feminist, and Archetypal scenes and perspectives. Approaching the film from the Existentialist lens,
we find several examples throughout the film of when characters follow an Existentialist viewpoint or
outlook. An Existentialist typically questions their true identity, the meaning of life, the meaning of
their life, or the purpose of their life overall? The movie starts up with Ben Braddock sitting on a
plane bound for Los Angeles, which pans outward to reveal passengers with blank, empty faces, a hint
at Existentialism s belief that no one has meaning or purpose. After Ben has landed, he leaves the
airport, and in the background 3 arrows point in all directions, yet he chooses the path with no arrow
or guidance. The doors he does leave out of, are also marked with

Symbolism in as I Lay Dying
As I Lay Dying Essay In the novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner each chapter is written
through a different character s perspective. The book follows the Bundren s family on their journey to
fulfill Addie s dying wish. There were many motifs and themes throughout the book but one of the
most important ones was the use of symbolism. Cash s tools and Anse s farm equipment symbolizing
their stability becomes threatened from the carelessness of the Bundren s journey. The coffin stood the
burden of dysfunction the Addie s death put on the family. There were also a couple instances where
Faulkner used animals to symbolize emotions and as a comparison to a couple of the characters. Cash

My mother is a fish. (84) This statement came from Vardaman who caught a fish the day his mother
died, because the fish and also his mother was dead he felt that he mother must be a fish. Vardaman
couldn t comprehend want had happened to his mother but then later understands that his mother is
not in the same state that she used to be in, she is in the state of death, just like the fish. Dewey Dell
also compares her problems to an animal but instead of her deceased mother, she compares herself
because she has a more bigger problem. After Addie s death Dewey Dell goes to the barn hoping to
find Vardaman but as she leaves she is confronted by a cow that needed to be milked. The cow nuzzles
at me, moaning. You ll just have to wait. What you got in you aint nothing to what I got in me, even if
you are a woman too (63). Dewey s pregnancy is being compared to a cow that is needed to be
milked.. The milk that the cow has is similar to the child that Dewey Dell is carrying. They re both
unwanted burdens that Dewey Dell doesn t want to deal with, the unpleasantness is shown in this
comparison. Darl compares Jewel s love for his mother to his love for his horse. On the ride home
Darl announces to Jewel that their mother is dead. Darl says to Jewel But it s not your horse that s
dead and says to himself later, I cannot love my mother because I have no mother. Jewel s mother is a
horse (95). Darl comes to a conclusion that since Jewel love

How Social Reformers Influenced Edward Bellamy, Henry...
How did social reformers such as Edward Bellamy, Henry George, and the Knights of Labor conceive
of liberty and freedom differently than the proponents of the liberty of contract and laissez faire like
Herbert Spencer and Andrew Carnegie? Which of these groups was successful in imposing their
vision on the larger society in the years before the turn of the century? Why?
Introduction
Liberty and freedom was conceived differently by the social reformers and the proponents of the
liberty of contract and laissez faire. The difference actually emanated in the manner in which the two
groups interpreted the suitability of the operation of the economy. While the economy can operate on
the basis of capitalism where individualism and private property are the basis of creating wealth, it can
also operate on the basis of collectivity, where communism and pooling of the labor and output
together forms the basis of wealth accumulation for the society. In this respect, the social reformers
such as Edward Bellamy, Henry George, and the Knights of Labor conceived the freedom and liberty
to entail the rights of the laborers to earn better wages, work for a few hours and have a legal tender
mechanism from the government that was not under the control of the banks . On the other hand, the
proponents of the liberty of contract and laissez faire like Herbert Spencer and Andrew Carnegie
conceived the liberty and freedom to entail individualism and private property ownership as the basis

Using Technology As A Way Of Creating A New Way
S.T.E.A.M a New Approach to Learning
Using technology as a way of creating a new and interesting approach to learning we will reengage
children to love learning. Through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics also,
known as S.T.E.A.M we can allow our children to discover the world in a new inventive way.
S.T.E.A.M technology allows children to have a hands on approach that builds cognitive, social/
emotional skills, and fine motor skills. Developing these skills in early childhood is important in
developing their minds and building necessary skills that help them later in school as well as life.
Using technology is a way of creating a new and interesting approaches to learning.

Educators are discovering new ways to incorporate S.T.E.A.M which takes longer for planning,
however, more standards are addressed with S.T.E.A.M than with separate lessons. (2) Each lesson
needs to present a problem for the students to solve. For example, a group of four year old s must
determine how many buckets it takes to fill a sand table. To solve children must analyze the size of
buckets used and the sand table. (2) Key points that are used to solve this problem is problem solving,
communication, representing ideas, inquiry skills. (2)
Social/Emotional Skills Social and emotional skills are addressed with S.T.E.A.M allowing children to
work together to create a product. They encourage children to try new situations in life. (2) Fred
Rogers encouraged social skills on his television show while connecting arts and science. (2)
Connecting meaningful lessons encourages children to connect our technical world to a perspective
that they can begin to understand. (1) When children connect themselves to things that they
understand, they can discover more of themselves and learn to understand each other. Using
S.T.E.A.M can be used with a variety of objects, even objects that are recycled such as paper, plastic,
etc. Everyday materials such as wood, rocks, and leaves can be incorporated to the lesson bringing

The Most Active Area Of Our Plate Tectonics Essay
While tracking all of Earths major earthquakes and volcanos there became trends that developed.
These trends allowed me to actually learn from our own Earth. The most active area of our plate
tectonics was subduction zones. This type of plate boundary was the reason for the majority of the
earthquakes documented over the semester. Most of these earthquakes were shallow, but at times had
very deep focal points. Because of the old, cold plate being sub ducted I saw significantly more deep
focus earthquakes in this tectonic setting. Subduction zones were also responsible for the deepest
earthquakes that were experienced throughout the semester. While capturing the title of the most
active, deepest earthquakes, it also produced the largest earthquakes of the semester. Subduction zones
accounted for nearly all of the earthquakes that registered a magnitude above 5.7. Because of these
earthquakes being the largest, they also created the most damage. These plates were able to cause the
most damage because of how much elastic energy they could store in their old, cold, and brittle plates.
There were several earthquakes throughout the semester that took the lives of the people living in the
area while causing destruction on their community infrastructure. Subduction zones also turned out to
be the setting for most of the active volcanos that I charted throughout the semester. The most
common type of volcano over the semester was a stratovolcano. Most of these were found along the

Alienation In The Misanthrope
According to Florencia, the play The Misanthrope is very contemporary because the story revolves
around the feeling of rejection towards society and almost everything that surrounds it. Also, she
added the subsequent isolation that a person feels. It happens all the time. People tend to hate the
people around them yet, they can t stand that deep loneliness they find. People will have different
perceptions why they would experience such situation. Some would believe that they are indeed
cursed or have been hit by karma and then kind of give up, accepting that miserable existence. They
might accept it until they find that special someone that dislikes that side of the world, too. That What!
You too? I thought that no one but myself... moment. Or they die alone, whatever comes first. No
matter the time or place, some people feel like outcasts, and that brings the issue of alienation. Other
people would start to look at them like the personification of abnormality. Like human beings that just
hate humanity for the hell of it. Like misanthropes.
Moreover, Florencia said that the book was an insightful play about the essence of human nature, our
virtues and flaws. Molière brilliantly portrayed the hypocrisy of its time through Alceste, the
protagonist. A man with a profound existential conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How BFI Meets the Requirements of Health Promotion
The main focus of the Baby Friendly Initiative strategy is to promote successful breastfeeding and
support the mother through out the process (Pound Unger, 2017). This strategy encourages mothers to
breastfeed for at least up to 6 months (Pound Unger, 2017). This is accomplished by teaching mothers
about the importance of breastfeeding, advantages and disadvantages of breastfeeding and proper
breastfeeding techniques (Pound Unger, 2017). The educating process in the BFI starts from

One of them is disagreement regarding the valid use of 10 Step process (Cadwell Turner Maffei,
2004). Prenatal teaching programs have limited number of staff to provide teaching prenatal teaching
(Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Immediate Postpartum assessments have become a priority before
breastfeeding (Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). This is preventing the BFI focus of mother and baby
bonding and breastfeeding right after birth, because important that the mother and the baby bonds for
the first hour after birth (BCC, 2012). The health care workers have limited time with each patient,
due to this reason conducting assessment and patient teaching is limited (Cadwell Turner Maffei,
2004). Patient s misconceptions about complications of breastfeeding may discourage them from
accessing the BFI program (Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Different cultural practises can dis courage
mother from accessing or following the BFI (Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Patient unknowing about
the BFI or other services can prevent them from accessing the program or from seeking support
(Cadwell Turner Maffei, 2004). Women who live in rural areas in third world countries, where they
have no access to medical assistance have a lower chance of accessing the BFI program (Penwell,
2010). Women who choose to free birth or unassisted birth at home have a lower chance of accessing
or participating in the BFI program (India Parenting, 2016).

The museum s Collections of the art turn out to rely on the contributions of passionate individual
collectors. Both the museums were founded for the purpose of encouraging and developing the study
of fine arts and are open for the public, and situated in the United States.(Walter 3)
Viewing art in Frick Museum is fascinating since it serves as a monument to an individual founder and
memorizes the founder s personal taste of art.The collection displays the beliefs, choices and values of
an era. The advantage of this is that the collectors idealized the time of art history, thereby creating
museums to represent them after their death. It offers special opportunities for self representation as
reconciles the supposedly opposite values of private and public. They sort to retain control over their
creations. The museum allows an exceptional visual understanding of a crucial aspect of the history of
art. (Walter 3)The disadvantage in viewing art from Metropolitan museum is that the art, themuseum

The Importance Of Being Earnest Truth And Truth Essay
In The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Algernon tells Jack that The truth is rarely pure
and never simple and because the truth is this way, it makes modern literature a complete impossibility
(10). Throughout this play, all the characters try to find their own truths, some by bunburying and
others by writing their own truths. Either way, Wilde makes the truth about his characters nuanced and
ambiguous, which in turn allows his audience to question his true intentions for The Importance of
Being Earnest. For the characters, the truth is hard to figure out because there is confusion between
things being serious or trivial. This confusion is the source of inspiration for the characters to create
their own truths, which are clearer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Human Ghosting Essay
Existing conceptual frameworks to understand person in cyber environment A historical analysis of
the theories of technology suggests that there is a broader demarcation of these theories anti
humanism, humanism, and post humanism (Pelt, 2002, 307). The anti humanist approach has
portrayed technology as a driving force and generally sees human beings and their environments from
the lens of technological determinism. Falling in line with social constructionism, the humanists
approach depicts human beings as the main actors in order to give importance to the agency. The post
humanistic approach considers humans, technology, other species, and any other organic agents of the
environment as actors. In this model, humans are not at the top nor do they come first horizontally on
any axis of human existence. Post humanists recognize the importance of agency but they bequeathed
its importance to other organic parts of the human existence such as non human objects and
recognized them as actors. In this schema of analysis, human ghosting falls in the post humanist
category. Giving credence to the pluralistic theoretical approach, this paper tries to see if the new
virtual cyber environment and human ghosting can be explained by any of the following theory or
they set a stage or contribute to understanding the new environment and human ghosting. ... Show

The Ecology Of Fear By Mike Davis
Earthquakes, fires, tornados and many more are part of one branch of disaster and are known the most.
Poverty, famine and political upheaving are also disasters. These are known as economic disasters and
affect society in many ways. We can then define disaster as being any event, natural or economical,
that causes impairment of the natural/urban environment. Many regions of the world face these
challenges, and Los Angeles is a part of these. The Ecology of Fear, by Mike Davis, claims that the
urbanization of Los Angeles has led to fear of the natural environment. As a result, an apocalyptic
society was made and is not able to interact with its natural environment. The city of Los Angeles was
developed in harm s way. Market driven urbanization transgressed environmental common sense
(pg.9). Categorized hazardous areas, such as a floodplains and wildfire prone regions, were developed
into suburban areas and industrial districts. As a result, Los Angeles has secured many disaster
tragedies in its future, with higher body counts and greater distress (p.55). We are not victims of
sprawl...we are sprawl! Urbanization in Los Angeles was through Selfish, profit driven presentism
(pg.65). This has deafened Angelenos (natives to Los Angeles) to the warnings of environmentalists
who have cautioned about environmental crises and ways to prevent them. This later becomes linked
to social injustice. For example, when homes are on fire in Malibu, where they should have never

Total Control In The Handmaid s Tale
Have you ever stopped to think, How would my life change if someone was in total control of it? How
do you think it would change? Do you think it would be difficult living this way? Would people adapt
to the environment? What do you think would happen if nobody was in control of their own lives, if
we at the mercy of someone else. What if our lives were a prison to our society? In the The
Handmaids Tale this is what happens. People are forced out of their daily lives and brought into new
ones. Of fred, the main protagonist, is trapped in Gilead as a handmaid. She is considered a two
legged womb and only valued for her potential as a surrogate mother. The town of Gilead shows male
dominance and women only for reproduction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of fred talked about how she could never be like her and how she didn t have half the courage she did.
Moria was a declared lesbian; this went against all foundations of Gilead Childbearing. I think if Of
fred didn t have Moria for support, not in person but in mind, then she wouldn t have made it as far as
she did. Makes me feel safer now that Moria s here (Pg. 70) After many times with the Commander
trying to get Of fred pregnant, Serena Joy the commander s wife secretly set up meets with the
chauffeur, Nick. Of fred already knew who he was because he was her signal if it was all right to go to
the commander s office for a discreet meeting. Nick and Of fred continue their meetings secretly
without anyone knowing. Eventually this affair becomes more than just sexual pleasure, but emotional
pleasure too. I think Of fred felt bad for having feelings for another man other than Luke, but she was
lonely. Loneliness can cause many problems, depression and sometimes as far as suicide, which some
people did do. The outcome of this story is unknown. Its kind of like our lives, we don t know what is
going to happen. Our future is in Gods hands. Who knows what s going to happen? This is actually a
scary thought. It sounds dumb, but I learned a lot from this book. I learned that your life can change at
the drop of a hat, nothing is always the same. I wouldn t have ever thought it was possible for an all
women society, but it is. I

Hariprasad, V. Yoga Increases the Volume of the Hippocampus in Elderly Subjects. Indian Journal of
Psychiatry, vol. 55, July 2013. This study is similar to the first two studies, except it focuses on the
elderly and goes beyond stress reduction. This journal shows that yoga can alter the structure of the
brain in some cases. It does not just merely change hormone levels. Yoga is able to increase the size of
the brain in the elderly. For several decades, scientist believe brain damage to be quite permanent. The
brain usually can rewire itself to function more efficiently. However, very rarely has it essentially

Clinical Support System Analysis
1. A Clinical Support System is a system that aids physicians and clinical staff in finding the right
course of action for patient care. The system recommends the action and also explains why that route
was chosen for that specific patient. An example of a clinical support system is one that assists with
the retrieval of scientific medical information as well as takes into consideration the particular clinical
context. The system does not perform the clinical decision making but it provides relevant
information, analyses and recommendations about the specific patient, this helps the healthcare
provider make an educated decision about the care that needs to be provided. Clinical support systems
can also allow for patient specific alerts, situation specific alerts, and assist physicians with order sets
to facilitate decision making which enhance the effectiveness and quality of care.
2. The critical difference between a clinical decision support system and a personal health record is
that the two differ greatly in the degree to which they interpret data and recommend patient specific
action (Cimino Shortliffe, 2014, p.190). A clinical decision support system are clinical systems that
allow clinicians to consult expert knowledge for the diagnosis and treatment planning of the patient.

Old Disney Channel Persuasive Speech
It was late Saturday night, and I was scrolling through channels, and all of a sudden my childhood
flashed before me. To hear the main theme song Thats So Raven playing out of my tv speakers; made
me realize how much I missed The Old Disney Channel. I watched and cherished the moments of
faces and theme songs that made my childhood complete that Saturday night; I m 16 now, but I still
watch Disney Channel. Just not the new Disney of course. From where I stand, the new generation of
Disney is complete nonsense, but of course everybody has his or her own opinion, and it drives me
nuts not to smack them upside the head and say What s wrong with you? the 90 s and 2000 s shows
were the best.
Some say todays Disney Channel is quite refreshing, the humor is out of this world, or it teaches us
life lessons. Now what does K.C Undercover teach us? How to be spies and capture evil people. Let s
be realistic here! OLD DISNEY CHANNEL WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST! We need shows that
apply to real life situations, and there was only one era where we learned that from: 90 s. I don t
understand why you re laughing? What s so funny about this show? It s pointless. I find myself asking
these questions regularly when I watch todays Disney Channel. Why do the producers or directors

and who gets to watch what, or taking my stuff without my permission, but at the end of the day I still

Becoming A Texas Senator Essay
Texas Senator
If I were to become a senator of Texas I would have to be at least thirty years of age, have been a
citizen for nine years, and live within the state of Texas. Since the Senate consists of a hundred
members, two per state, I would be one of two people to be elected for Texas State Senator.I would be
active six terms and would make $174,00 a year. A Congressional Session usually last most of the
year. The Senate met 136 days through the course of ten months according to Congress.gov.
As a Senator of Texas I would like more strict gun laws. I know that this issue has been brought up
over the past few years and that it didn t do so well with texans, but I do believe that a better gun
control plan would benefit the state. Statistics state that the United States has over three hundred
million civilian firearms in circulation and twenty times the homicide rate than all other western
nations combined. And recent practices conducted in other countries have proven that the restriction of
guns has had a dramatic impact on the death rate. For example, Japan passed a law in 1958 prohibiting
the possession of firearms. Since then Japan has become the country with the second lowest death rate
in the world. Similarly, after passing strict gun laws in the 1990 s, Australia and the United Kingdom
have noticed a drastic decrease in gun related deaths. Don t get me wrong I like the sense of security

Summary Of Mere Christianity By C. S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity, defends the religion from the critics that believe that it is a religion
that does not have foundation. He further goes to show the type of life that a Christian live. The book
is divided into four different sections. In each section, there are things that Lewis touches on. In the
beginning, he talks about natural law and how it needs to exist since humans did not invent, but they
respond to it. He states that God exists and that it is made of three parts: The Father, the son and the
Holy Spirit. Lewis goes on to describe what a Christian believes and how a Christian should behave.
He highlights that one of the steps in being a Christian is to accept Jesus Christ and try to be like him.
He goes on to also point out that non believers should not know how Christians have differences
within the faith because then there is where the notion that the religion is not well put or that its
foundations are not strong become faulty.
Book one deals with human nature law and the laws that apply to that. It talks about some of the
objections that there are and moral law. In the first chapter from this section, he goes on to state that
there is a universal right and wrong and that God is the only one that can instill that in us. He talks
about the law of nature and how that makes one behave in a certain manner that one would not
otherwise act like. Chapter two deals with moral law and how that is directed to the way that we are
able to learn things as

Andy s innocence, Andy decided he had been there long enough. On a stormy night, he took the

Shakespeare In Love Combination of Romantic Comedy and Shakespearean Tragedy
William Shakespeare once told us, All the World s a Stage and now his quote can be applied to his
own life as it is portrayed in the recent film, Shakespeare In Love. This 1998 motion picture prospered
with the creative scripting of Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman and direction of John Madden. The
combined effort of these men, on top of many other elements, produced a film that can equally be
enjoyed by the Shakespeare lover for its literary brilliance, or for the romantic viewer who wants to
experience a passionate love story.

Shakespeare becomes captivated by the beautiful Viola at the same time that her father is promising

not before asking his name. Shakespeare is quick to tell him that his name is Christopher Marlowe, the
name of the current playwright for The Curtain Theatre. Having found his muse, Shakespeare soon
hands a complete script of Act I to his actors, now calling the play Romeo and Juliet . He is in a
blissful state until he receives a letter from Viola, telling that she must marry Lord Wessex. After a
man to man conversation about this with Thomas Kent, Shakespeare realizes that Thomas Kent is

Spotlight Essay
Spotlight, directed by Thomas McCarthy, has been nominated for three Academy Awards in the
categories of Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. This film should win for
Best Picture because of its faultless execution, powerful ensemble, and subject matter. Spotlight is one
of the best journalism movies ever made. The film concentrates not only on the big picture of how the
journalists discover new information but the little details as well, such as what offices look like in the
time period and how the staff reacts to a new boss. Director Thomas McCarthy celebrates journalists
and recognizes that what they do is important and necessary, but he doesn t idealize them. McCarthy
doesn t need to go into graphic detail about the sexual abuse because all he has to do is lightly tap into
it for the audience to be affected. McCarthy is conservative by handling the subject very carefully and

  • 2. Naomi Wolf I found the film of the lecture given by Naomi Wolf to be exceptionally interesting and thought provoking. The beginning of her discussion surrounding the topic of beauty and the reason women are seemingly so obsessed with it was presented in a way that I have never considered myself. The idea that the media and culture surrounding women is one of a purposeful preoccupation with beauty and the conceived notions of what that means is very striking. To continue the discussion about her idea surrounding women and girls and their preoccupation with beauty standards it is easy to segue the conversation into the dangers of this preoccupation. The numerous repercussions of this preoccupation with unrealistic beauty standards is manifested in both physical and mental effects. One of the effects that was discussed to a large extent is eating disorders, which affects both the physical and mental aspects of a woman s (or man s) well being. The effects of eating disorders, in particular anorexia which is categorized by restrictive and obsessive eating behaviors, can be catastrophic. As Naomi Wolf discussed in a person story about her own eating disorder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was obvious to me just watching the film and the shots of the crowd, especially at moments of interaction, that these unrealistic standards of beauty to one extent or another have an effect on women from all walks of life. Speaking in the realm of the United States alone it is possible to say that any woman is who is continuously exposed to mass media, especially from an early age, will be in one way or another affected by this beauty myth . To what extent the effect is I believe does vary between ethnicities. This ideal beauty is often portrayed as overwhelmingly blonde and caucasian so I could see how this would cause even more of a negative impact among women of color than on white ... • 3. How Technology Helps With The Sales Process And How It Can... The purpose of this essay is to discuss how technology can assist with the sales process and how it can develop a trust based relationship between businesses. Technology plays a very important role in the sales process, as new trends arise such as the use of mobile applications, social media, database management systems and cloud computing the ability to store information online and be able to access your data conveniently, everywhere and anywhere you go as long as you have an internet connection has become the new meta. The concept of selling has evolved into a many different activities comparatively to just a decade ago. The successful professional salesperson of today and the future is likely a better listener than a talker (Thomas N. Ingram, 2011). As mentioned by Thomas, a typical salesperson today are more focuses in developing long term relationships with their customers rather than the historical methods such as the short term, heavy selling methodologies. Businesses have moved on, the world has accepted and adopted the new technology to help improve the sales process. Seller have become more aware of the customer needs and requirements and are finding new ways to help satisfy them. There are many selling approaches and are used for different types of selling situations. Each approach has their own distinctive way of persuading the buyer and can result in different levels of effectiveness. Using technology can have its benefits and also comes with a cost that can ... • 4. The Effects Of Video Advertisements On Society Essay Introduction Video advertisements are quick and momentary but their influence is pervasive and prolonged. The power of video advertisements shape norms and common societal expectations on how a person should look and behave. Overtime these gender roles (societal expectations associated with men and women) and behaviors become implicit thus implying normal (or in some instances ideal) men and women should exhibit these qualities and characteristics. Subconsciously, video advertisements impact a person s perception of what it means and what it takes to be a man or woman. The objective of this paper is to observe secondary socialization, ...learning behaviors and attitudes associated with specific situations and roles... , in YouTube video advertisements by comparing recurring patterns, symbols, statuses, and roles directed to men and women (Lecture Notes Nalkur 7). In addition, this paper seeks to explain how YouTube video advertisements act as socializing agents by portraying arguably exaggerated yet stereotypical traits of men and women that influence watchers perceptions and beliefs about their own gender identity and that of others. Methods The approach of this study was to obtain a total of eight YouTube video advertisements. Four of which focus on women/women s products and the other four video advertisements focus on men/men s products. The YouTube video advertisements were obtained randomly by watching the YouTube channels I normally visit. All video ads were obtained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Sanctuary of the Family Cabin Essay The Sanctuary of the Family Cabin The TV in my room blares the sounds of some show in which I am not even interested. There is too much on my mind for me to worry about the show on television. I need money. I need a job. My car needs gas. What am I going to do when school starts this fall? My life is going downhill. I need to get away. Just before my mind explodes, my father comes in and says, Let s go to the cabin. That is exactly what I have needed. My family s cabin has been my sanctuary for years. It is where I go when I need to get away from the chaos of everyday life. It is this way for not only me, but also for many family members of the three generations who go there. I stick my hand out of the window of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I look down, I realize that parts of the stairs are buried from dirt sliding down the mountain. I finally make it to the old wooden deck that extends across the front of the cabin. I look at the old wood under my feet and wonder how it could possibly hold my weight. The rest of the deck however is beautiful. My uncles have recently replaced the old wood framing roof. They also repainted the four pillars holding it and the railing on the side a dark forest green. The entire cabin is covered in a light tan brown color to keep a natural look. I walk to the middle where a group of three trees project out just inches away from the deck. This was my fortress of solitude for many years as a child. I look over the deck at the lake and woodland forest surrounding me. The aroma of the evergreens surrounds me, leaving my mind wonderfully peaceful. After taking in the beautiful scenery from the deck for a couple of seconds, I walk over to where the key is hidden and place it in the new locks on a heavy, polished, new wooden door. I hear the deadbolt click and twist the knob on the door. It creaks open, and a dark, but extremely welcoming sight greets me. It has been nearly a year since I last saw this stunning place. I have barely opened the door and already, a feeling of complete serenity has almost totally encompassed me. The scent that I remember so well flows out from the cabin and into my nose. It is a mixture of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Positive And Negative Effects Of Religion Religion is like the numerous amount of languages that exist in the world, diverse and culturally diffused. Not subject to any one specific group of people or era in time. Religion is a way for people to express their beliefs, it s a style of living, a way of life that people decide to adopt and live even throughout many obstacles imposed by society. Even when said obstacles were negative, and degrading, people in history chose to prevail while simultaneously standing up for their beliefs. Thankfully the United States has given people the right to practice any religion of their choice freely and safely, but it hasn t always been like this. Religion has had positive and negative effects on politics, society, and the economy all throughout history, some more significant than others. Religion hasn t always been a right that every american citizen is granted, many were neglected this right. From the colonial times in America, only 1 of the 13 colonies that would later become the U.S, gave their citizens the right to worship there god or practice their religion of choice. Most colonies appointed a church for the state, and everyone had to pay and participate at this church, no matter their religious preference or beliefs, everyone was subjected to follow this rule. Many disagree with this statement, by declaring that people had the right to worship the god of their choice due to the creation of The Maryland Toleration Act of 1649. • 7. Coco Chanel Bibliography Coco Chanel At the start of the twentieth century, the idea of women in business seemed crazy. In those days, men held all the positions of power and made all the decisions about money. They believed that a woman s place was in the home, looking after her children, cooking for her family and managing the house. If a woman needed to work she could perhaps find a job in a shop or in a factory, but she had no chance of working as a businesswoman or a banker or a lawyer. Women s fashions in the US and Europe at that time supported this idea of their position in society. Fashionable women wore long dresses that almost touched the ground. This made it difficult for them to drive a car, ride a horse or even walk quickly. As a result, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people were frightened, but most were in a good mood. Don t worry, they told each other. The war will be finished by Christmas. But after a few weeks, it was clear that they were wrong. More and more men left Deauville to go and fight in the French army. Soon the expensive hotels were changed into hospitals, full of soldiers who had been hurt in the fighting. The rich Frenchwomen of Deauville saw that it was their duty to help the French army and many of them took jobs as nurses in the hospitals or did other kinds of war work. But after a few days they realized that it was impossible to work in their long dresses. They looked around for different things to wear. They found the answer in Coco Chanel s new shop. Her simple hats, loose jackets and straight skirts were just what these women needed. They were stylish, but they allowed women to move around quickly. Coco was soon selling clothes as fast as she could make them. For the next three years, Coco travelled between her businesses, while the First World War continued in the north and east of France. By 1916, over three hundred people were working for her. She soon made so much money that she could pay back Boy Capek all that she had borrowed. Coco had been lucky because the war had given her a chance to make her new designs popular. When the war is finished, in November 1918, Coco was ready to start the next and most successful part ... • 8. Gugu Like The Chinese Government In Mo Yan s Frog Frog was partly inspired by William Faulkner, in which Mo Yan, the author fictionalized his birthplace of Gaomi County in Shandong province as Northeast Gaomi Township. Frog is about Gugu (paternal aunt), the aunt of Tadpole , the novel s narrator that performs various abortions after the implementation of the One Child Policy. Mo Yan was born in 1955 to a family of farmers. His real name is Guan Moye and writes under the penname Mo Yan. In Chinese, it literally means Don t Speak . Mo Yan s work often is characterized by a darkly comic, sometimes surreal storytelling style. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 2012. Her role changed drastically from revered midwife to hated abortionist. Gugu s loyalty to the Communist party was proven when she states, I have been always been a Party member, and I will die a Party member! (Yan, 58). They do so by forcing vasectomies, implanted intrauterine devices (IUDs), and late term abortions on men and women. According to Yan, I ll take a bath and burn incense before delivering babies for those who follow family planning policy, but I ll deal mercilessly with those who go beyond one pregnancy every last one them! She made a chopping gesture (103). Gugu loyalty to the Communist Party grew intensely when she became the head of the planning committee. She enforced the policies with all her might. • 9. Surface Area Volume Ratio Experiment Surface area / Volume ratio Experiment Introduction: The surface area to volume ratio in living organisms is very important. Nutrients and oxygen need to diffuse through the cell membrane and into the cells. Most cells are no longer than 1mm in diameter because small cells enable nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell quickly and allow waste to diffuse out of the cell quickly. If the cells were any bigger than this then it would take too long for the nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell so the cell would probably not survive. Single celled organisms can survive as they have a large enough surface area to allow all the oxygen and nutrients they need to diffuse through. Larger multi celled organisms need specialist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interpretation: In all the blocks of gelatin the rate of penetration of the hydrochloric acid from each side would have been the same but all the blocks take different amounts of time to clear because they are different sizes. As the blocks get bigger it takes longer for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse through the entire block and so clear the dye. It takes longer to reach the centre of the cube even though the rate of diffusion is the same for all the cubes. As the volume of the blocks goes up the Surface Area / Volume ratio goes down. The larger blocks have a smaller proportion of surface area than the smaller blocks. When the surface area to volume ratio goes down it takes longer for the hydrochloric acid to diffuse into the cube but if the ratio goes up then the hydrochloric acid diffuses more quickly into the block of gelatin. Some shapes have a larger surface area to volume ratio so the shape of the object can have an effect on the rate of diffusion. By increasing the surface area the rate of diffusion will go up. • 10. M.C. Escher Essay M.C. Escher occupies a unique spot among the most popular artists of the past century. While his contemporaries focused on breaking from traditional art and its emphasis on realism and beauty, Escher found his muse in symmetry and infinity. His attachment to geometric forms made him one of modernism s most recognizable artists and his work remains as relevant as ever. Escher s early works are an odd mix of cubism and traditional woodcut. From these beginnings, one could already note Escher s fondness for repetition and clean shapes. While simple and exploratory, these works were the signs of a nascent art career. Beginning in the mid 1930s, Escher s work turned very pointedly to the style we associate with him today. Some of his most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Something that recurs references itself. The reflection in a mirror of a mirror is recursive: the reflected mirror is reflecting its own image and doing so indefinitely. You ve also likely seen the Droste effect when using camcorders hooked up to a TV or a computer: when the camcorder is looking at the screen, you can see an infinite series of screens generate themselves, since the camcorder is recording the same image that it s sending to the screen. The game Portal is a great example of recursion, when two portals could be opened side by side in a narrow space and looking in either one produced an infinite series of the same image. Escher combined recursion and pattern repetition in a unique way. Some of the works featuring this combination exhibits some complex mathematical and physical ideas, but to the casual viewer the works are sublime. The swans image above features this sort of combination. Note that the swans are tiled very precisely, with the same distance from adjacent swans and swans in the next row. Note also that they are in a closed loop, which is one construct made possible with recursion. The above image is an example of the Mandelbrot set. The Mandelbrot set, along with other sets, is an example of a fractal. Fractals are fundamentally based on the idea of infinite recursion. If you zoom in to a particular spot in the fractal, you ll perhaps see a different arrangement of patterns, but you would still be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Morgan Mitchell Biography Morgan Mitchell The only reason why I am doing all this is because I am running fast. If I am not running fast, it s not going to happen. Morgan Mitchell, 2016. No need to worry about running fast, Morgan. I think you ve pretty much covered that one. As bubbly as she is fast, Morgan Mitchell, age 21, is following in the footsteps of her idol, Cathy Freeman, and running in the elite 400m and 4x400m relay. Whilst not always associating with her outstanding running ability, she was always known for her incredible athleticism. The race begins with runners in staggered positions, so that each athlete is running equal distance, and those who false start twice, or obstruct another runner from moving forward will be disqualified. As a 400m runner, you require considerable speed endurance, in order to maintain a high intensity over a considerable distance. • 12. Value Chain Analysis By Jim Riley Jim Riley published study notes about value chain analysis and he teaches that value chain analysis describes the activities that take place in a business and relates these activities to an analysis of the competitive strength of the business. This paper includes comparing and contrasting two articles. The first article is The 7 Steps of Software Development Case Study Chapter 1 but the second one is Value Chain Analysis by Jim Riley. Also, these two articles will be applied to the company Pep Boys, which I chose to do the value chain analysis to. Since I do not work yet, I chose Pep Boys because my close friend works there as a vice president of marketing. There are seven traditional steps that can go bad in a software development project but if you follow all these steps than your software project is going to be in a better shape and it should not have that many crashes. The first step is preliminary investigation or analysis, where software developers and project managers clarify the requirements to project sponsors. Second is specification and requirements analysis, which involves taking the requirements and describing them in a way meaningful to programmers. The third step is design or architecture, which gets into more low level details. The next step is where the program is built, also called as development or coding. The fifth step is testing and documentation, which makes sure that the program functions as required and that the program s functionality is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The prominence of technology has allowed for people to virtually connect from different sides of the globe. As technology has grown, however, there has been increasing ethical concerns as to whether the intent of various connection platforms (such as, Skype , FaceTime , etc.) have overreached personal boundaries. Platforms as simple as chat rooms that allow people to connect via text, and as advanced as global news/email servers have been intercepted by hackers with intent to invade privacy and steal confidential information. For example, in 2016 the United States formally indicted two Russian hackers, with dozens of cyber security offenses, that were behind the theft of over 500 million Yahoo accounts in 2014 (Volz). In some countries, such as Ethiopia and South Africa, there is significant progress in Telemedicine, while in countries such as Burkina Faso and Nigeria the progress is slow because of lack of political support. (1) The proof creating algorithm: Whenever the nodes involved in a communication receive a message, they create a proof that is based on aggregate signature algorithm. (2) The checkup algorithm: This algorithm is called when the source node suspects that the transmitted packets are dropped. If the destination reports that it does not receive all transmitted packets, it will invoke this algorithm to detect the malicious node. The source first sends the route request and waits for responses from all neighboring nodes with which it gets a reliable route. According to this proposed scheme the source node should not send data packets immediately after receiving the first reply. Timer Expired Table is used to set timer after the reception of first reply. This table stores the sequence number of the packet. Collect Route Reply Table is used to store arrival time. Node s waiting time depends on the distance. Entries in the table help to identify malicious node. [19] presented a black hole detection scheme. In this method, when the source node receives RREP packets, it generates a new RREQ. RREQ has the highest sequence number and it is unicast through the route which the RREP packet was received. Malicious node generates a RREP with highest sequence number on receiving RREQ. Malicious node sends the fake RREP packet to the source node. Now source identifies the malicious node. English III 10 November 2015 The Germ Theory The germ theory is crucial in the development of modern medicine and vaccines. It states that many diseases are caused by the presence of specific microorganisms within the body and that infectious diseases caused by infectious agents. It was a theory developed in the middle 1800 s, by Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, and Joseph Lister. This theory still underlines contemporary bio medicine. It s responsible for the reduction in the numbers of infectious diseases. The development of the theory eliminated environmental, diet, and climate influence on disease. The germ theory is closely associated with existing ideas about health, hygiene, and sanitation. It encouraged the reduction of disease to simple interactions with microorganisms and their host. The development was largely initiated largely by the Industrial Revolution. Infections and disease have been the biggest challenge to human health. This theory is also known as the Pathogenic Theory of Medicine. It revolutionized medicine, understanding diseases, and the microorganisms that cause them. Infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi; the diseases can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another (World Health Organization). How did social reformers such as Edward Bellamy, Henry George, and the Knights of Labor conceive of liberty and freedom differently than the proponents of the liberty of contract and laissez faire like Herbert Spencer and Andrew Carnegie? Which of these groups was successful in imposing their vision on the larger society in the years before the turn of the century? Why? Introduction Liberty and freedom was conceived differently by the social reformers and the proponents of the liberty of contract and laissez faire. The difference actually emanated in the manner in which the two groups interpreted the suitability of the operation of the economy. While the economy can operate on the basis of capitalism where individualism and private property are the basis of creating wealth, it can also operate on the basis of collectivity, where communism and pooling of the labor and output together forms the basis of wealth accumulation for the society. In this respect, the social reformers such as Edward Bellamy, Henry George, and the Knights of Labor conceived the freedom and liberty to entail the rights of the laborers to earn better wages, work for a few hours and have a legal tender mechanism from the government that was not under the control of the banks . On the other hand, the proponents of the liberty of contract and laissez faire like Herbert Spencer and Andrew Carnegie conceived the liberty and freedom to entail individualism and private property ownership as the basis of ... These trends allowed me to actually learn from our own Earth. The most active area of our plate tectonics was subduction zones. This type of plate boundary was the reason for the majority of the earthquakes documented over the semester. Most of these earthquakes were shallow, but at times had very deep focal points. Because of the old, cold plate being sub ducted I saw significantly more deep focus earthquakes in this tectonic setting. Subduction zones were also responsible for the deepest earthquakes that were experienced throughout the semester. While capturing the title of the most active, deepest earthquakes, it also produced the largest earthquakes of the semester. Subduction zones accounted for nearly all of the earthquakes that registered a magnitude above 5.7. Because of these earthquakes being the largest, they also created the most damage. These plates were able to cause the most damage because of how much elastic energy they could store in their old, cold, and brittle plates. There were several earthquakes throughout the semester that took the lives of the people living in the area while causing destruction on their community infrastructure. Subduction zones also turned out to be the setting for most of the active volcanos that I charted throughout the semester. The most common type of volcano over the semester was a stratovolcano. • 36. Human Ghosting Essay Existing conceptual frameworks to understand person in cyber environment A historical analysis of the theories of technology suggests that there is a broader demarcation of these theories anti humanism, humanism, and post humanism (Pelt, 2002, 307). The anti humanist approach has portrayed technology as a driving force and generally sees human beings and their environments from the lens of technological determinism. Falling in line with social constructionism, the humanists approach depicts human beings as the main actors in order to give importance to the agency. The post humanistic approach considers humans, technology, other species, and any other organic agents of the environment as actors. In this model, humans are not at the top nor do they come first horizontally on any axis of human existence. Post humanists recognize the importance of agency but they bequeathed its importance to other organic parts of the human existence such as non human objects and recognized them as actors. In this schema of analysis, human ghosting falls in the post humanist category. He further goes to show the type of life that a Christian live. The book is divided into four different sections. In each section, there are things that Lewis touches on. In the beginning, he talks about natural law and how it needs to exist since humans did not invent, but they respond to it. He states that God exists and that it is made of three parts: The Father, the son and the Holy Spirit. Lewis goes on to describe what a Christian believes and how a Christian should behave. He highlights that one of the steps in being a Christian is to accept Jesus Christ and try to be like him. He goes on to also point out that non believers should not know how Christians have differences within the faith because then there is where the notion that the religion is not well put or that its foundations are not strong become faulty. Book one deals with human nature law and the laws that apply to that. It talks about some of the objections that there are and moral law. In the first chapter from this section, he goes on to state that there is a universal right and wrong and that God is the only one that can instill that in us.
