Andy Goldsworthy Analysis
In the second half of the twentieth century, artistic movements made pushes in order to move beyond
the traditional gallery space, changing the terrain of displaying and making art. An artist s body of
work no longer needed to reside inside of a gallery or art collection, and artists became free to explore
other ways of creating and displaying work. In this vein, Andy Goldsworthy works sculpturally with
natural media, and leaves the sculptures within a particular environment, often expecting his work to
decay quickly. Many times, the only evidence of any art he makes is the photographs taken during the
process. By more traditional standards, art of this nature is entirely contradictory. What is the point of
pieces of visual art that cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goldsworthy had constructed a dome made out of sticks at the edge of a tide pool during low tide,
right next to a river meeting an ocean. This is described further by Jeffrey L. Kosky in his book Arts of
Wonder. There Goldsworthy has gathered driftwood into a dome, with a hole at its top, an echo of the
vortex around which a whirlpool might spin or an eddy might form... before being released into the
rushing flow. (156). After finishing constructing the piece, Goldsworthy steps back to view his piece
and is confronted by a man walking by, who asks after some conversation, What do you expect will
happen?... Will it stay intact? , to which Goldsworthy responds, No it won t, absolutely not. (cite) The
tide begins to pull in, and some of the outer shell of sticks begin to float away. Shortly after though,
the entire piece is picked up at once by the tide, and begins to float above where it was built. After
this, the piece slowly floats away, down the river and away from the camera. Goldsworthy then

Canada s Leading Financial Institution
Canada s Leading Financial Institution
The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) was founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1864, and started its
expansion into the Maritime Provinces in the 1970s. Today, RBC is Canada s largest financial
institution by market capitalization and total assets . RBC competes globally among the largest banks
in the world with over fifteen million clients in forty six countries worldwide. Although the majority
of RBC s revenues are produced in Canada (64%), a bit over a third are in the U.S (18%), and
internationally (18%) , (See Exhibit 1).

RBC s efficient use of capital this past quarter is one of many reasons this financial intermediary was
able to report a record third quarter with net income surpassing $2.3 billion; a 4% increase from Q3,
2013 .
Despite this financial intermediary s immense global success, RBC s diversified business operations
face a significant amount of risk. These risks involve liquidity funding, market risk, operational risk,
foreign exchange risk, insurance, regulatory compliance, strategic risk, competitive risk, as well as
credit risk. RBC manages these risks through ensuring that the business activities provide an
appropriate risk return trade off, while staying within their Risk Appetite. RBC s specific Risk
Appetite is based on four major components and encouraging the types of risk and amount of risk that
RBC is willing to take on in order to meet their strategic goals , (See Exhibit 3).
RBC engages a strong risk culture, with an understanding of risk awareness and responsibility. They
use several methods to manage and alleviate their vulnerability to different types of risk. This bank s
risk management process includes in depth risk measurement, risk control, and risk governance, with
setting the right risk culture at the top with their Board of Directors through their Three Lines of
Defence Model , (See Exhibit 4).

The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method
Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental
approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in which the
child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no relationship between
the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply
organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach
rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is mathematically reasonable,
proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This progression is, however, very
difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically
speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also
causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major scale.
According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six tones and cannot
produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the child development approach of the
Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns that align with the sequence of normal
child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child
related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter

John Wilkes Booth had eight accomplices who helped with the assassination of Lincoln. The people
who helped Booth were close friends or, they were people who wanted revenge. Booth and his eight
conspirators planned the whole assassination ( An overview of... ). They planned the assassination in

DBQ On Genetic Modifications
DBQ Imagine if one day, humans were modified to be better people. Well that day is almost here,
because scientists have already attempted to genetically modifying humans in China (OI). Although
humans have the chance to be modified to be better, is that really a good thing? Genetically modifying
humans is not a good idea. For example one of the modifications is to help people not feel pain, but it
can also keep them unaware of harm (Doc. 2). Furthermore genetic modifications on humans is not
good and shouldn t be allowed. Like it was said, humans should not be genetically modified because
the modification could harm the person or others around them. The painkiller gene is meant to help
people not feel pain, but it can also harm

Impact Of Migrations Of Pastoral Peoples On The Middle Ages
Paper 2: Migrations and Pasturalists
Analyze the impact that migrations of pastoral peoples had on the development of civilization from
the Second Wave civilizations to those of the Middle Ages. It is called migration all population
displacements that occurs from a place of origin to another destination and brings a change of habitual
residence in the case of people .The history refers to the great cultural movements, economic
geographical and political that led to massive displacements of the population, both spontaneous or
forced. The development of the first polis also caused a migration from the countryside to the city then
has all civilizations. Mass migrations took place approximately the third century and eighth century of
our era in Europe marking the transition between ancient history and the Middle Ages that goes by the
name of Late Antiquity. Historians often speak of several phases in these invasions, the role
corresponding to the first Germanic peoples (of the third century to the sixth century), while the latter
correspond to the Vikings and the Magyars and the Arabs (protagonists of the invasion Muslim
seventh century and eighth century). The bronze age witnessed the development and expansion of
pastoralism to the central and eastern steppes, the growth of urban areas in Central Asia oases, and
ongoing mutually beneficial commercial activity between those cultural areas (Christian 902). All
these migrations brought drastic consequences in

The Importance Of A Well Protection Of Well During...
This section is an overview of the demands and tests associated with the integrity of well during
production from and injection to a reservoir.
The process begins after the well construction/well intervention organization has handed the well over
to the production organization and concludes with a handover back to drilling and well organization
for intervention, work over or abandonment.
Well integrity during this phase is used to keep hydrocarbons from the pay zone inside the well and by
protecting it from leaking off to contaminating groundwater for environmental purposes.
Well barriers are an envelope of one or several dependent barrier elements preventing fluids or gases
from flowing unintentionally from the formation to the surface ... Show more content on

These well barrier elements have to be tested and must meet the requirements and guidelines that will
enable them carry out their demands. Demands are an event or a situation that needs functioning well
barrier elements and they could be continuous or instantaneous. A continuous demand is the constant
high temperature and pressure that a well barrier must be able to withstand to avoid burst or collapse
while and instantaneous demand could be an emergency shutdown of the system from the platform.
The importance of well integrity in the production phase cannot be undermined and it could be easily
categorized in three phases, namely pre production, in production/operations and postproduction.
Pre Production
This phase as the name implies, is the phase just before we start producing from the well and pumping
up the hydrocarbons. This is also the phase when the completion personal hands over the well to the
production crew. Well integrity in this phase is very critical because we have to check the well barriers
and the well barrier elements and make sure they can handle the different types of demand prior to
pumping the hydrocarbons out of the formation. Also important is the well barrier schematics and well
barrier diagrams for the well and the necessary procedures to be taken should there be a well barrier
failure . A well barrier schematic and well barrier

The State Of Discipline Essay
The State of the Discipline History cannot be changed, but as time goes on different discoveries,
interpretations, issues, and concerns for the discipline arise that cause historians to analyze the state of
the discipline. To investigate these concerns, I read articles from Perspectives on History, particularly
the October 2017 issue. During this research, I discovered that some of the ideas, topics, and debates
that are occupying historians right now are: student enrollment, the preservation of history, and the
rewriting of history via alternative facts. One major concern currently for historians is how to revive
history in the classroom. In almost every month so far in 2017, there has been at least one article
concerning low numbers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important aspect of these monuments are that they are beginning to memorialize all the victims
from the Holocaust, such as the Jews, handicapped, and homosexuals. Another issue concerning
historians is the idea of alternative facts popularized by the United State s current president, Donald
Trump. The author, Robert Blackey, makes his opinion about alternative facts clear: they are
detrimental to history and are not alternative, but false. An important distinction he makes is that
alternative facts are not synonymous with alternative interpretations. Historians (and students of
History 200) learn how to formulate historical narratives. As discussed in the last paper, certain
aspects can deviate and focus on various factors that ultimately shape the narrative. However, there
are always facts and evidence supporting every claim. Alternative facts are a lie, and it believe so as a
historian is to betray history, and this is why it is an important issue plaguing the nation. In order to
prove a point or save face, individuals are undermining history and facts.
The topics that are being presented in this article are present issues that have been influenced by the
past. When individuals decide on a stance on the issue of confederate monuments, it is important that
they investigate the past for the context, and this article specifically encourages individuals to do so.

The Economics Of Happiness Is An Indicator Of Economic...
For centuries, economists have deliberated on the most effective ways to promote growth, to increase
employment, to boost consumption and to eliminate poverty, but where does this all lead? Surely these
are all means to an end? Today, some economists may define the end as happiness. This essay will
explore the potential benefits and drawbacks of using happiness as an indicator of economic success,
analyze how it can be measured and examine the current theories on whether happiness can cause
economic growth, or vice versa. Whilst economic growth first and foremost implies an increase in
GDP per capita, increasing happiness can be attributed to many different determinants such as health,
education, stability and inequality. Therefore, the economics of happiness is a multi layered and rather
subjective area that divides economists when asked whether happiness can cause economic growth.
To begin with, Stevenson and Wolfers (2008) propose that as countries grow richer, their citizens
report higher levels of satisfaction. This is achieved not only through higher income per capita levels,
but through the expected byproducts of an improving economy such as increases in levels of
education, access to healthcare, opportunities for employment and equality. Non income determinants
can be weighted against GDP levels to assess whether economic growth does impact happiness. For
example, using the Corruptions Perceptions Index it was found that Sub Saharan Africa, one of the

Cause Slower Heart Rates On Diabetes
cause slower heart rates [95]. We cannot rely solely on reduced heart rates only to diagnose CAN
because with advanced nerve dysfunction, heart rates can be normal [95] but it persists in higher rates
than patients without any diseases [96]. As a result, heart rate cannot be a reliable factor to determine
CAN; however, decreased heart rate is the primary manifestation of CAN [95]. CAN is considered as
a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus that threatens life of patients with diabetes [97].
Its worldwide prevalence varies from 1.6% to 90% [98]. Dysfunction of autonomic nerve fibers that
regulate heart rate, cardiac output, myocardial contractility, cardiac electrophysiology, blood vessel
constriction and dilatation can be defined as CAN [97, 99]. There are many cardiac disorders that are
associated with CAN such as resting tachycardia, intraoperative cardiovascular instability,
arrhythmias, asymptomatic myocardial infarction and ischemia and increased rate of mortality after
myocardial infarction [97, 99]. CAN is diagnosed by several clinical symptoms, such as postural
hypotension, dizziness, light headedness, presyncope, syncope and early fatigue and exhaustion during
exercise; all of these are demonstrated in later stages [98]. The first finding of CAN is, decreased heart
rate variability (HRV), which is a subclinical finding and can be diagnosed through deep respiration
[100]. It can occur even in normal heart rate conditions [100]. Increased resting heart

Citizen Kane Opening Scene Analysis
This week movie was Citizen Kane by Orson Welles. In short, this movie shows the life of the
mysterious Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles) and the misfortune he did. The audience doesn t really
know that much about him at the beginning with him. It s through the use of many flashbacks from his
many confidants that the audience gets a better understanding of him. As a result, the understanding is
that he was a lonely man with him losing everything ranging from his parents, his first wife, his
political reputation, his second life, and his life. Orson Welles elaborates this troubled person through
the use of many film terms that are bounded as a synthesis response. Some of these terms includes

High key is a style of lighting emphasizing bright and even illumination with few conspicuous
shadows. Used mostly in comedies, musicals, and light entertainment films. (Giannetti, 524). One
example of this can be seen with the same scene previously mentioned above where he hides behind
two people, the singer and his political opponents, where both of them tell his wife that Charles is
having an affair. Charles in a cloak of darkness both literally and figuratively is astounded of what he
is experiencing of the sudden dismissal of his wife and his political career. This use of high edge
photography is used to show the current worsening condition of Mr. Kane, but also foreshadows an
ominous future with other misgivings. The use of high key photography helps spell out the current
character of Mr. Kane and the future form of him with him losing everything. Citizen Kane by Orson
Welles uses the two predominant elements of flashbacks and high key to convey to the watcher the
troubled past of Mr.Kane and the characters that surround him. Flashbacks and high key are used
throughout the movie. An example of these two different terms was demonstrated when Mr.Kane
being oblivious to the situation of his marital problems. Overall, the use of flashbacks and high key
photography helps to show the struggles of Mr.Kane and his associates; without them the movie

The greatest war novel of all time, All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque, is a
novel that depicted the hardships of a group of teenagers who enlisted in the German Army during
World War 1. Enlisting right out of high school forced the teens to experience things they had never
thought of. From the life of a soilder on the front line to troubles with home life, war had managed to
once again destroy a group of teenagers.
Throughout the novel, we saw the men of the Second Company adapt to the harsh conditions of war

Paul explains that every man is intimately acquainted with their stomach and intestines. Being that
they all had the same parts there was no need to be embarrassed. In addition to the effects of battling
on the front line, the teens were affected by the thoughts of their home lives.
Considering the boys were only eighteen when they enlisted in the army they did not have a chance to
experience life after high school. They had been cut off from life just as they were beginning to live it.
Paul remembers that as a high school student, he wrote poetry. He now has no interest in, or time for,
poetry, and his parents seem to him a cloudy and unreliable memory. Reminiscing about his home life
upset him. Paul soon learned that he would receive a leave of seventeen days; fourteen days leave and
three days for traveling. Paul also learns that he will not return to the front immediately after he is
done with leave but to a camp for a training course. After Paul learns of his leave he says farewell to
his fellow comrades. He begins to worry about if the men he has grown so fond of will still be there.
Despite all of this Paul packs up and heads to the train station to leave for home. As the train
approaches his hometown all the memories come flooding back to him. When Paul finally got to his

Effective communication is not just about speaking and listening. It is also about watching and
feeling. Our body language and tone of voice actually communicate more strongly than the words we
use. So, listening effectively involves tuning in closely to the other person s body language and tone of
voice as well as their words. How positive relationships are built and maintained(Ref 1.1): *
Identifying and sorting out conflicts and disagreements Children, like adults will have their
disagreements. As children get older their arguments can become more serious and are not simple
squabbles. In order for children and young people to trust us, it is important that we can identify
difficulties and help them wherever possible to find ways through them. It is essential that children
and young people perceive our way of doing this as fair. When you have a conflict with a child, there
is an opportunity for learning about how to solve problems. Conflicts help children to understand that
other people have different thoughts and feelings to their own. Listen to the child and try to
understand their point of view, and help them to understand yours. Then together, try to think of ways
to solve the problem that you are both happy with. It might take a while but it will be worth it, and

The employees get trained well enough where they feel confident that they can perform the tasks
required of them, meaning they were trained well and were well informed. One of the employees was
a shift supervisor and the other a regular employee, I believe that there was disagreement in whether
there was performance monitoring because the regular employee always feels that whatever he or she
does is being monitored. What I found strange was that the question if the supervisor was present
during the task was marked NO for both of the employees. I would have assumed that the regular
employee would have marked yes but I can only assume that they believed the question meant the
manager the person who supervises every employee.
Hypothetical Intervention
If I were to intervene on employees not giving customer greetings I would make it so that the door
would have a sound when opened. Like what some stores have that when someone enters a ding sound
is heard. That will alert the employee that a customer has entered. Another method could be getting
the manager to deliver performance feedback in regards to the greetings in an effort to make the
employees more aware that they need to do a better job at it. Preferably in a group, like mentioned in
class to not alienate a person.

Examples Of Iago Evil
Iago is one of William Shakespeare s most evil villains. From the very beginning Iago is out to destroy
Othello. No one really knows why Iago hates Othello so much, but there are many theories to why he
does, such as iago states he s angry that othello looked past him for a promotion or the possibility that
othello is having an affair with his wife. Iago s ability to manipulate and deceive people is truly evil,
yet also genious. Iago is absolutely evil and shows it throughout the entire play. Iago s evil is shown in
everything he says, does, and has a part of. For him to be able to constantly deceive his wife and
friends shows how evil he is. Iago double crosses all the characters who consider him their friend.
Most shockingly perhaps, he kills Roderigo, a Character who he has colluded with and been mostly
honest with throughout the play (McCulloch). Iago could be described as amoral. He doesn t care
about anything but himself. He will do anything to achieve what he wants and will not lose a bit of

does it. His ability to deceive and turn people on each other is absolutely genius. it is Iago s talent for
understanding and manipulating the desires or those around him that makes him both a powerful and
compelling figure (Spark notes). Through out the play, the reader often times finds humor with iago.
Iago is often funny, especially in his scenes with the foolish roderigo. which serve as a showcase of
Iago s manipulative abilities. He seems almost to wink at the audience as he revels in his own

was taking by King Henry the VIII. This decision was primary related to his personal want to have a
male heir to continue the Tudor dynasty in the region. This decision was supported by the people of
England with their dissatisfaction of the Catholic Church. We analyzed the factors involved in his
decision and found couple bias such as short term emotions, confirmation bias and overconfidence
bias.

Class Ethics And Values At Jackson State University
When I first entered the field of social work at Southwest Mississippi Community College, I was
clueless as to what the social work profession entailed. At Southwest MS Community College, we
mostly focused on perquisites and a few classes related to family. After, leaving Southwest MS
Community College and entering Jackson State University, I realized my previous college did not
teach me anything relating to the field of social work. However, my entry in my first class Ethics and
Values at Jackson State University taught me about the six core values in social work, such as service,
social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity and
competence. Upon, my entry into JSU, Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) program, I understood that
social work was not about assisting only children. There is masses of people who need, social workers
to advocate for better housing, food, medical care and other basic necessities to survive everyday life.
The question asked what is my understanding of the social work profession , social work is a field,
where people are compassionate about helping others live comfortably within their environment. By
providing them with services needed within that moment. It serves as a guide to people, who are not
aware of resources that is available to them. The social work profession generates the needs and
emotions of other people. I imagine the social work profession as a listening ear. For instance, a client

Constructing The First Transcontinental Railroad
Constructing the first transcontinental railroad in the United States of America was arguably our
country s crowning achievement for engineering ingenuity and determination in the 19th century. The
railroad was a herculean of a task that required extensive proper prior planning, muscle, blood and
tears that has rarely ever been seen before or to this day. In addition to the brains behind the operation
and the labor force that drove this project to completion, the railroad companies (Central Pacific and
Union Pacific R.R.) responsible wouldn t have even gotten beyond the first mile without the political
representatives that lobbied on their behalf in front of Congress. The man by the name Judah was the
sole individual that garnered government backing behind Central Pacific.

Campbell s Five-Viewpoints
The five paragraph formula is a destructive formula that cuts the blood flow of creativity from
students. As Campbell essentially argues in his paper, Beyond the Five Paragraph Essay. Campbell s
main idea that he reiterates and stresses over and over again; is that the five paragraph formula doesn t
properly allow students to express themselves with their own unique voice through writing. The
alternatives to the five paragraph formula are better suited for students as they allow students to use as
he stated, their authentic, authoritative voices.
Campbell sets the scene by showing how some teachers defended the five paragraph formula when he

Campbell did a great job in laying out and showing the main reasons and arguments against the five
paragraph formula. However, in terms of his essay, he neglected to mention a few things that would ve
further enriched his essay. One of the critical aspects he neglected to mention that I would add would
be mainly statistics instead of heavily relying on anecdotal evidence. For example, on page 62 as he is
discussing the key issues with the formula he stated, it doesn t ensure success on standardized tests or
in college. I would ve added a statistics further enriching the say by getting his point across and
having a somewhat of a shock factor. A shock factor would ve really made his point stand out and
would not just have the essay rely on anecdotal evidence but a mixture of scientific and anecdotal
evidence. Moreover, I would ve also included a more sound concluding paragraph. I felt like the last
paragraph left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth; I would ve added now that they are able to write
better essays their writing has drastically improved and really highlighted the overall difference in
quality between using different formulas. I believe that would ve enriched the essay and left a more
sound concluding paragraph with a much sweeter taste.

A Summary Of Women Effrage
Gender gap cannot be dismantled by only amending laws against sex discrimination, but when it
enables all to the same share in law. Women need to break through barriers to be on the path to
success. Women are not men and need not compete with men to show her vitality. Women bleeds and
is not a choice, this does not mean men need to bleed. Women require challenging patriarchy rather
than each other. Akhila had a barrier in her life of her fears to do things for herself. Fear can give no
power, but facing truth sets a being free. Her emotions are not to be squished but nurtured well.
Wearing masks one after another to please the society only weakens the natural energy of a female.
We need not cover up our insecurity from the world. Women should stop dying from things that
happened in past. It is ok to be imperfect, which is human. Women do not require finding their identity
in the comparison with men. When a woman stands up to voice for herself, she raises up for all the
women globally.
Anita Nair s Ladies Coupe has narratives by six women characters who by chance meet in a train

of a patriarchal India. Though they are from different community or cultural, all women share pain in
different means. The novel is a bildungsroman either narrating the childhood to adulthood life or the
characters liberation by developing confidence to shun the web of patriarchal metaphors.

Venus Craters
Venus, named after the Roman goddess of beauty and love, is the brightest planet in the solar system.
The surface of Venus cannot be seen with an ordinary telescope, as it is covered with water vapor and
clouds of sulfuric acid. Although Mercury is closer to the sun, Venus is the hottest planet in the solar
system at a whopping 460 degrees Celsius on average. The radiation of the sun heats the surface, but
the heat cannot escape due to the carbon dioxide and methane filled atmosphere, which produces the
greenhouse effect. Sadly, there could never be life on Venus due to this blistering heat (exterior).
Although there is no life, Venus has a plethora of mountains, continents, and craters. The craters imply
that the surface of Venus is between three hundred and five hundred million years old. Impact craters
have several classifications. To determine the impact origin for a crater, scientists look for a circular

The small number of craters documented by the Magellan missions indicates that Venus is comparably
young. Venus is thought to be less than eight hundred million years old. Although Venus has signs of
plate tectonics, they are very different from the plate tectonics on Earth. The plate tectonics on Earth
are typically signs of continental drifts and spreading of the basin floor. These are not apparent on
Venus. However, this planet shows other signs of tectonics such as zones of global rifts and a plethora
of wide and deep dome shaped formation named coronae. These coronae were produced by the

Summary Of Initiation By Sylvia Plath
In the short story, Initiation, by Sylvia Plath she uses symbolism to create meaning, express feeling
and thoughts. One reason why the heather birds symbolize freedom is because they are shown as
individuals, that can be free to do whatever they want. Lying in bed on the morning of the Rat Court
Millicent thought of the heather birds. Swooping carefree over the moors, they would go singing and
crying out across the great spaces of air, dipping and darting, strong and proud in their freedom and
their sometime loneliness This quote shows that Millicent is thinking about how the heather birds have
freedom of expression. She wants to have the same abilities the heather birds have. Millicent is
rethinking joining the sorority because then she can t be friends with Tracy or getting asked out by a

Analysis Of The Movie Kane Monroe
KANE MONROE presents with a very intriguing blend of story types. It blends an old fashion
western revenge story with fantasy and action. The goal is clear and the stakes are high. It s a story
that easily engages. The audience effortlessly roots for Kane Monroe.
The setting feels authentic to the time period and to the culture. The characters are likable and seem to
be castable, especially Kane. The action sequences are nicely crafted.
The script offers a three act structure. The first act establishes that Kane has visions of past lives, but
in all his lives he encounters one villain. The inciting event is when he sees a wanted poster that looks
like his nemesis. He leaves home on a determined quest that propels the story forward. The ... Show

Perhaps it s because there isn t one consistent backstory regarding William that the audience can
follow.
If the past lives element is important, the story might work more appropriately if the fantasy element
were more developed and one could fully understand the love story and the rival between William and
Luther.
Instead of the idea that Kane has lived multiple past lives, perhaps consider the idea that he has just
lived one. In fact, the script doesn t really show his other lives in detail. There s a vision of being a
Japanese Samurai, but it s very short lived and no real story is developed and Luther/Moss isn t in that
fantasy.
Thus, the rules of the world need to be clarified. The audience is told he lives other lives, but with one
consistent nemesis, but the story doesn t follow through on this.
The other alternative is to just create an old fashioned western revenge story, but to make it more
unique by having Kane trained in the art of martial arts and sword fighting (similar to Kung Fu TV
series).
There are features of the script not well understood and would benefit from more development.
The sequences involving Lillian are a bit confusing. Is she working with Moss? Why were the bandits
after Kane? What might not be clear is if Moss has ordered his men to find Kane and/or when Moss
realizes Kane is on his trail. This should be clarified.
The other area of the script that becomes perplexing is Traveling Bear and Running Flower. When

Essay about Book Summary The Bible Among the Myths
INTRODUCTION
The book opens with an introduction comparing the study of the Old Testament and the other religions
and cultures of other peoples from the Ancient Near East. Scholars used to believe that the Old
Testament was unique among other beliefs in the Ancient Near East but they now view the Old
Testament as identical to other religions of its day and time.
The author also discusses the vital philosophical distinction between essence and accident. When
removing an essential feature of an object, it will cease to be itself but if you remove an accidental
feature of an object, there will be no change in the object s essential being.
The author also introduces the characteristics of myth.

One of the groups of definitions falls under the category of the historical philosophical definition. The
first definition of myth in this category is the etymological definition. This definition stresses the
falsity of the deity or event or thing being described. The second is the sociological theological
definition where the truth is seen as relative and something is considered true if it is seen as true by
others. The third is the literary definition. These kinds of definitions claim to make no value judgment
about their material. The events are not seen as right or wrong and the narrative makes use of
symbolism to express it meaning.
The many definitions of a myth have one thing in common; they all give to the philosophy of
continuity. Continuity assumes that all things are not only related to one another, but are literally one
another in some fashion. Overall it can be said that whatever the Bible is, whether symbol or literal,

Benzocaine And 9-Fluorenone Lab Report
In order to isolate benzoic acid, benzocaine and 9 fluorenone, each component needed to be separated
from one another. All three compounds began together in one culture tube, dissolved in methylene
chloride and formed into a homogenous mixture. In this culture tube, two milliliters of aqueous three
molar hydrochloric acid was added, which immediately formed two layers, the top acidic aqueous
layer was clear in color and contained benzocaine, and the bottom organic formed was yellow and
contained benzoic acid and 9 fluorenone. Benzocaine s amino group is protonated by the aqueous
layer hydronium. This protonation forms the conjugate acid of benzocaine, benzocaine hydrochloride.
Thus, the conjugate acid, benzocaine hydrochloride is a salt in which is soluble in water and
furthermore can be isolated from the organic mixture. When testing out the pH levels in benzocaine,
the pH test strip was dark blue in color, indicating a pH level of around 5 to 7. When isolating benzoic
acid, two milliliters of aqueous three molar sodium hydroxide was added, which deprotonates the
carboxylic group in benzoic acid, forming its conjugate base, sodium benzoate. As with benzocaine
hydrochloride, sodium benzoate is a water soluble ionic salt in the aqueous layer that can then be
separated from the bottom organic layer containing the 9 fluorenone. The pH test strip was a vibrant
red for benzoic acid, indicating a pH of 2. Now the 9 fluorenone is left, deionized water is added to

CULTURAL ARTIFACT PAPER THE CHRISTMAS STOCKING

The Christmas stocking symbolizes Christmas, which is traditionally a Christian holiday, but also

The gift giving in the stockings is an important part of the Christmas experience and represents a spirt
of generosity, goodwill and giving. (King, 2017) These beliefs are also embodied within the Christian
culture.
Now that I ve portrayed the stockings symbolism, let s learn about some of the current ways to use
them. Although in the past stockings were used for gold coins, or citrus fruits such as oranges, the
modern day traditions are somewhat different.
Stockings are usually created in the shape of an oversized sock. Many families practice the tradition of
personalizing their stockings with names, favorite hobbies and/or interests of the individual. Stockings
can be handmade or store bought. They come in many colors, themes, materials and fabrics. The
options are endless when it comes to personalizing your own stocking. (Witham, 2017)
In the present day stockings are hung by the chimney to be filled by Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.
They are traditionally filled with small gifts known as stocking stuffers. The Merry Stockings online

Budweiser Argumentative Essay
This Budweiser commercial was aired in 2014 as a part of the company s campaign to reduce drinking
and driving. This commercial was about the importance of finding an alternative ride home or a place
to stay for the night if you have been drinking. By finding an alternative ride home or a place to stay
would prevent you from causing an accident on the way home. The producers of this commercial used
the bond between a yellow lab and his owner to show the importance of getting home safely after you
have been drinking. They were able to achieve this by starting the commercial when the owner brings
the dog home for the first time and then showing clips of them together as the dog grows older up

Since this commercial was only a minute long they were able to use the same song throughout the
commercial. They chose a song that represented the bond between the dog and his owner but the lyrics
would have also worked if it were two humans instead of a human and a dog. The producers were
probably very careful when selecting this music because they wanted it to transition into everyday life
and have not just be applicable with the relationship between the dog and his owner. This is evident in
one of the lyrics of this commercial, A lifetime is not long enough to show you what you mean to me.
If you were only listening to the song, then you would unable to know that this was not about a couple
who were falling in love but about a dog who does not want his owner to leave him behind. Using a
song that would also apply to many different types of relationships was a smart choice because it will
have the ability to gather an emotional response even if some people do not like dogs. This song
selection was also a smart choice because it was not overpowering the message of the Budweiser
commercial but rather it enhanced the message that people and pets are waiting for you to return home

The Curse Of The Poisoned Pretzel Analysis
Its a Doughy Situation
Food, the backbone of a community, the foundation on which an empire stands, or even the soulmate
of a society. Although I may be straying from the topic, food is technically where this story began.
Two brothers, one rich, sucessful, brawny, and has a knack for snacks. The other, sad, closed off,
creepy, and not surprising, does not have a knack for snacks or sweets. Two opposites, the story not
complete without the other. Now the story would not be complete without one becoming completely
jealous and despising the other. Commonly this leads to several things such as arguing, fighting, or to
better put it, leads to betrayal. Betrayal, a common theme among siblings, say one thing do another, it
s inevitable. In The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel , Skidmore (creepy brother) is accused of murdering
his brother Manchester (snack knacker), yet did he do it? The author of this story portrays interesting
attributes to compell readers to point fingers towards Skidmore without actually saying Skidmore s
guilty. During the introduction of Skidmore, the inevitably creepy individual, the fact that the author
calls him creepy , or saying He gave everyone the creeps already makes Skidmore out to seem like a

character introductions always foreshadows that characters purpose in the story. Whe someone

Although many of those stores had signs in Chinese, it doesn t change the effect the stores had on the
neighborhoods. While external threats are a looming danger, they are not the only threat. Internal
threats also can compromise the established local structure.
There are many internal threats prevalent as well. As people live life in the U.S, or experience other
culture, they may want to integrate the new culture into their own. One such example is with kids.
When kids go to school, they meet people of other cultures, and beliefs. Over time, they may think
that an aspect of their beliefs is better than their own. This can cause a recession in the local culture of
an area. Another internal threat is that of movement. As kids grow older they may get bored of their
surroundings and decide to move out. When people move, buildings generally become open for sale,
and often for low prices. These vacancies are enticing to many people who are seeking a home. This
can greatly disrupt a neighborhood, as suddenly what was previously a Chinese neighborhood, is now
half polish. One last example is with oriental Chinese food. Asian dishes are generally spicy, with
many herbs. People often change recipe to fit the American palette. Over time Chinese American may
come to enjoy the new Americanized flavor more.

  • 5. The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in which the child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no relationship between the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is mathematically reasonable, proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This progression is, however, very difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major scale. According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six tones and cannot produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the child development approach of the Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns that align with the sequence of normal child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Importance Of A Well Protection Of Well During... This section is an overview of the demands and tests associated with the integrity of well during production from and injection to a reservoir. The process begins after the well construction/well intervention organization has handed the well over to the production organization and concludes with a handover back to drilling and well organization for intervention, work over or abandonment. Well integrity during this phase is used to keep hydrocarbons from the pay zone inside the well and by protecting it from leaking off to contaminating groundwater for environmental purposes. Demands are an event or a situation that needs functioning well barrier elements and they could be continuous or instantaneous. The importance of well integrity in the production phase cannot be undermined and it could be easily categorized in three phases, namely pre production, in production/operations and postproduction. Pre Production This phase as the name implies, is the phase just before we start producing from the well and pumping up the hydrocarbons. This is also the phase when the completion personal hands over the well to the production crew. Well integrity in this phase is very critical because we have to check the well barriers and the well barrier elements and make sure they can handle the different types of demand prior to pumping the hydrocarbons out of the formation. The State Of Discipline Essay The State of the Discipline History cannot be changed, but as time goes on different discoveries, interpretations, issues, and concerns for the discipline arise that cause historians to analyze the state of the discipline. To investigate these concerns, I read articles from Perspectives on History, particularly the October 2017 issue. During this research, I discovered that some of the ideas, topics, and debates that are occupying historians right now are: student enrollment, the preservation of history, and the rewriting of history via alternative facts. One major concern currently for historians is how to revive history in the classroom. In almost every month so far in 2017, there has been at least one article concerning low numbers ... An important aspect of these monuments are that they are beginning to memorialize all the victims from the Holocaust, such as the Jews, handicapped, and homosexuals. Another issue concerning historians is the idea of alternative facts popularized by the United State s current president, Donald Trump. The author, Robert Blackey, makes his opinion about alternative facts clear: they are detrimental to history and are not alternative, but false. An important distinction he makes is that alternative facts are not synonymous with alternative interpretations. Historians (and students of History 200) learn how to formulate historical narratives. As discussed in the last paper, certain aspects can deviate and focus on various factors that ultimately shape the narrative. However, there are always facts and evidence supporting every claim. Alternative facts are a lie, and it believe so as a historian is to betray history, and this is why it is an important issue plaguing the nation. • 12. The Economics Of Happiness Is An Indicator Of Economic... For centuries, economists have deliberated on the most effective ways to promote growth, to increase employment, to boost consumption and to eliminate poverty, but where does this all lead? Surely these are all means to an end? Today, some economists may define the end as happiness. This essay will explore the potential benefits and drawbacks of using happiness as an indicator of economic success, analyze how it can be measured and examine the current theories on whether happiness can cause economic growth, or vice versa. Whilst economic growth first and foremost implies an increase in GDP per capita, increasing happiness can be attributed to many different determinants such as health, education, stability and inequality. Therefore, the economics of happiness is a multi layered and rather subjective area that divides economists when asked whether happiness can cause economic growth. To begin with, Stevenson and Wolfers (2008) propose that as countries grow richer, their citizens report higher levels of satisfaction. This is achieved not only through higher income per capita levels, but through the expected byproducts of an improving economy such as increases in levels of education, access to healthcare, opportunities for employment and equality. Non income determinants can be weighted against GDP levels to assess whether economic growth does impact happiness. For example, using the Corruptions Perceptions Index it was found that Sub Saharan Africa, one of the poorest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We cannot rely solely on reduced heart rates only to diagnose CAN because with advanced nerve dysfunction, heart rates can be normal [95] but it persists in higher rates than patients without any diseases [96]. As a result, heart rate cannot be a reliable factor to determine CAN; however, decreased heart rate is the primary manifestation of CAN [95]. CAN is considered as a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus that threatens life of patients with diabetes [97]. Its worldwide prevalence varies from 1.6% to 90% [98]. Dysfunction of autonomic nerve fibers that regulate heart rate, cardiac output, myocardial contractility, cardiac electrophysiology, blood vessel constriction and dilatation can be defined as CAN [97, 99]. There are many cardiac disorders that are associated with CAN such as resting tachycardia, intraoperative cardiovascular instability, arrhythmias, asymptomatic myocardial infarction and ischemia and increased rate of mortality after myocardial infarction [97, 99]. CAN is diagnosed by several clinical symptoms, such as postural hypotension, dizziness, light headedness, presyncope, syncope and early fatigue and exhaustion during exercise; all of these are demonstrated in later stages [98]. The alternatives to the five paragraph formula are better suited for students as they allow students to use as he stated, their authentic, authoritative voices. Campbell sets the scene by showing how some teachers defended the five paragraph formula when he was doing a presentation on common core standards. Campbell s main reason for writing the ... However, in terms of his essay, he neglected to mention a few things that would ve further enriched his essay. One of the critical aspects he neglected to mention that I would add would be mainly statistics instead of heavily relying on anecdotal evidence. For example, on page 62 as he is discussing the key issues with the formula he stated, it doesn t ensure success on standardized tests or in college. I would ve added a statistics further enriching the say by getting his point across and having a somewhat of a shock factor. A shock factor would ve really made his point stand out and would not just have the essay rely on anecdotal evidence but a mixture of scientific and anecdotal evidence. Moreover, I would ve also included a more sound concluding paragraph. I felt like the last paragraph left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth; I would ve added now that they are able to write better essays their writing has drastically improved and really highlighted the overall difference in quality between using different formulas. The surface of Venus cannot be seen with an ordinary telescope, as it is covered with water vapor and clouds of sulfuric acid. Although Mercury is closer to the sun, Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system at a whopping 460 degrees Celsius on average. The radiation of the sun heats the surface, but the heat cannot escape due to the carbon dioxide and methane filled atmosphere, which produces the greenhouse effect. Sadly, there could never be life on Venus due to this blistering heat (exterior). Although there is no life, Venus has a plethora of mountains, continents, and craters. One reason why the heather birds symbolize freedom is because they are shown as individuals, that can be free to do whatever they want. Lying in bed on the morning of the Rat Court Millicent thought of the heather birds. Swooping carefree over the moors, they would go singing and crying out across the great spaces of air, dipping and darting, strong and proud in their freedom and their sometime loneliness This quote shows that Millicent is thinking about how the heather birds have freedom of expression. The characters are likable and seem to be castable, especially Kane. The action sequences are nicely crafted. The script offers a three act structure. Perhaps it s because there isn t one consistent backstory regarding William that the audience can follow. If the past lives element is important, the story might work more appropriately if the fantasy element were more developed and one could fully understand the love story and the rival between William and Luther. Instead of the idea that Kane has lived multiple past lives, perhaps consider the idea that he has just lived one. In fact, the script doesn t really show his other lives in detail. There s a vision of being a Japanese Samurai, but it s very short lived and no real story is developed and Luther/Moss isn t in that fantasy. Thus, the rules of the world need to be clarified. The audience is told he lives other lives, but with one consistent nemesis, but the story doesn t follow through on this. The other alternative is to just create an old fashioned western revenge story, but to make it more unique by having Kane trained in the art of martial arts and sword fighting (similar to Kung Fu TV series). There are features of the script not well understood and would benefit from more development. The sequences involving Lillian are a bit confusing. Is she working with Moss? All three compounds began together in one culture tube, dissolved in methylene chloride and formed into a homogenous mixture. In this culture tube, two milliliters of aqueous three molar hydrochloric acid was added, which immediately formed two layers, the top acidic aqueous layer was clear in color and contained benzocaine, and the bottom organic formed was yellow and contained benzoic acid and 9 fluorenone. Benzocaine s amino group is protonated by the aqueous layer hydronium. This protonation forms the conjugate acid of benzocaine, benzocaine hydrochloride. Thus, the conjugate acid, benzocaine hydrochloride is a salt in which is soluble in water and furthermore can be isolated from the organic mixture. When testing out the pH levels in benzocaine, the pH test strip was dark blue in color, indicating a pH level of around 5 to 7. When isolating benzoic acid, two milliliters of aqueous three molar sodium hydroxide was added, which deprotonates the carboxylic group in benzoic acid, forming its conjugate base, sodium benzoate. As with benzocaine hydrochloride, sodium benzoate is a water soluble ionic salt in the aqueous layer that can then be separated from the bottom organic layer containing the 9 fluorenone. The pH test strip was a vibrant red for benzoic acid, indicating a pH of 2. Now the 9 fluorenone is left, deionized water is added to remove any excess ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They chose a song that represented the bond between the dog and his owner but the lyrics would have also worked if it were two humans instead of a human and a dog. The producers were probably very careful when selecting this music because they wanted it to transition into everyday life and have not just be applicable with the relationship between the dog and his owner. This is evident in one of the lyrics of this commercial, A lifetime is not long enough to show you what you mean to me. If you were only listening to the song, then you would unable to know that this was not about a couple who were falling in love but about a dog who does not want his owner to leave him behind. Although I may be straying from the topic, food is technically where this story began. Two brothers, one rich, sucessful, brawny, and has a knack for snacks. The other, sad, closed off, creepy, and not surprising, does not have a knack for snacks or sweets. Two opposites, the story not complete without the other. Now the story would not be complete without one becoming completely jealous and despising the other. Commonly this leads to several things such as arguing, fighting, or to better put it, leads to betrayal. Betrayal, a common theme among siblings, say one thing do another, it s inevitable. In The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel , Skidmore (creepy brother) is accused of murdering his brother Manchester (snack knacker), yet did he do it? The author of this story portrays interesting attributes to compell readers to point fingers towards Skidmore without actually saying Skidmore s guilty. During the introduction of Skidmore, the inevitably creepy individual, the fact that the author calls him creepy , or saying He gave everyone the creeps already makes Skidmore out to seem like a bad guy.
