Responsible Stewardship Of Wild And Marine Life
Responsible Stewardship Page 1
Responsible Stewardship of Wild and Marine Life
And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he
given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all . Daniel 2:38
The above mentioned scripture from the Holy Bible may be interpreted in many ways, but in regards
to stewardship, it displays God s overwhelming trust in mankind to protect and preserve the wildlife
that he created. Even so, stewardship should not be taken lightly. It is a privilege bestowed upon
mankind that not only embellishes God s plan to protect what he created but it also gives mankind a
moral and ethical responsibility to ensure that our planet will continue to have sustainable resources
for future generations to come. The word stewardship can be defined in many ways to suit many
purposes, but for the purpose of preserving wildlife and other natural resources, the best definition
comes from the Merriam Webster online dictionary. According to Webster, stewardship is defined as
the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one s care (2012). When it comes
to managing and planning resources related to our planet, stewardship embodies this concept fully. In
the criminal justice field there are several areas in which stewardship is used to preserve our natural
resources such as land and water. One of the most prevalent stewardships pertains to the conservation
of wildlife

The Effect Of Job Satisfaction On College Students
Abstract
Many studies and observations on job satisfaction as it relates to age is well known and continues to
be a rising trend in today s society. Job satisfaction is the contentment an individual feels while
working .There are so many effects and leading causes of satisfaction while working. This paper looks
into causes and effects within working college students and how to avoid job dissatisfaction while
attending college. While age may play a role in job satisfaction during college attendance, each
individual student handles working and studying differently. Maintaining positive job satisfaction
while attending college should be more positive and less stressful to all.

Obese Children Working Out
People need to use obese children s emotional problems as a way to help the child lose weight. Obese
children struggle with making friends and keeping up with other children, however, people can use
this to their advantage to help the child become healthy. Children with these emotional problems have
numerous emotions buried in them, and people can use this to make a child work harder. The child can
physically work through all of the emotional and social struggles they have been through. Working out
can be an outlet for the obese child to let all their frustrations out. By helping the children emotionally
we can encourage the children to eat healthier and give rewards to the children for following a diet
and regular exercise. Parents and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cultural And Social Lens Identity
Through a cultural and social lens identity has to do with a person s appearance, beliefs, and language.
People with cultural differences have different identities. Appearance wise, they tend to have a
different skin color, a different dress code, different facial features, different hair, etc. These
characteristics can easily help others categorize what cultural group they are in. People with different
cultural backgrounds sometimes dress a certain way so you can easily see their identity through their
clothes. The beliefs of a certain culture is also a part of their identity being that it is something they
believe within themselves. Many cultures have different religious systems such as Christianity, Islam,
and Buddhism. They either chose

A Context Dependent Memory Experiment Essay
The experiment is as follows; one hundred students, randomly selected, participated in a context
dependent memory experiment. twenty five were in each of the four following learn recall situations;
hot room hot room, hot room cold room, cold room cold room, cold room hot room. They were asked
to spend thirty minutes learning a list of thirty words. The next day they were asked to recall those
words in a fifteen minute time period. There are no results.
Context Dependent Memory in Environments with Hot and Cold Temperatures
Context dependent memory is the concept that things are often best recalled in the same environment
that they were learned. Smith and Vela (2001) provide four hypotheses as to how context dependent
memory works. They appear as follows; reinstatement is the idea that memory is better when testing
occurs in a reinstated environment as opposed to a different environment (Smith Vela, 2001) and this
is true across all studies (Smith Vela, 2001), outshining implies that non contextual cues when used for
guiding memory often diminish or eliminate the effects of contextual cues (Smith Vela, 2001),
Overshadowing is the concept that if one s incidental environmental context is suppressed during
learning, then environmental information will not be encoded and stored in memory, thereby reducing
or eliminating effects of experimenter manipulated environments on memory (Smith Vela, 2001), and
finally mental reinstatement

Evaluation Of Research Methods And Data Collection A...
In the textbook s evaluation of research methods and data collection a useful acronym referenced for
remembering and evaluating research was LOTS of data (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The L stands for life
record data that is obtained by looking at a person s life history. A person s life history can be accessed
and assessed by looking up police, court, or public records. The O stands for observational data which
is information given by knowledgeable observers of the person in question. This data is obtained
usually via questionnaires or other rating forms. The T stands for test data in which the information is
collected from experiments where researchers measure performance. This data is usually performed in
a lab where the environment can be controlled in order to test and measure a specific item. The last
letter of the acronym, the letter S, stands for self report data in which participants report about
themselves usually via questionnaires. Additionally to the LOTS of data acronym, sources of data can
also differ in their respective measures. Two categories of measures cited in the textbook are
nomothetic measures and ideographic measures (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Nomothetic measures are
fixed procedures that use the same test items for every participant and calculate the scores for all
participants in exactly the same way. An example of nomothetic measures would be true or false
questions, and yes or no questions. This method is most commonly used in

Ray Bradbury s Short Story The Flying Machine
ENGLISH Task 5; Journal ~ Syairah Abdul Basher
Written Text;
The Flying Machine Ray Bradbury
Mains Ideas Evident In The Text
The Flying Machine explores the idea of new technological improvements with no clear goal; will
they be used to aid humanity or harm it? In one hand, the man creates a flying machine of bamboo and
paper; which allows him to soar in the sky and explore beauty of the land. However, the inventor only
sees the good in his creation. On the other hand, the Emperor sees the negative consequences of the
machine, where he feels the danger of it falling into the evil hands; therefore, bringing ruin to his
people. However, the Emperor has a machine of his own; a miniature toy like town, where people

The Flying Machine was set in a Kingdom inside the Great Wall of China around the time period of
400 A.D.
It is set early in the morning, as the emperor states, The air is sweet this morning . The short story also
mentions, Early on the morning of the first day of the first week.. We can assume that the short story
happened around February 1st as the Julian calendar was referred. However, we can also conclude that
it might have happened after February 1st based on the Chinese Lunar calendar. It mentions in the
short story that the land is readying however it doesn t reveal which crops, therefore we can predict
that it is either spring or summer.
This information is significant as it suggests rebirth and a new beginning. The atmosphere created in
the story was peaceful and tranquil which juxtaposes the natural world of the setting to the mechanical
world of the inventor.
Along with setting, the characters also play a major role in The Flying Machine. The main characters
are; Yuan, the emperor of China, the inventor, and the

Separation Between the Narration in Response to...
In reading Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, a motif of distance and separateness can be discerned from
the text. In the structure of the narrative, the reader is distant from the action. The setting of the
narrative is situated often in isolated and nearly inaccessible areas, creating separateness between the
action of the story and the everyday world. The Frankenstein monster is remote compared to the rest
of world by narrative structure, geographic area, and his namelessness. The reader must look through
several lenses throughout the novel. The letters that begin the book are addressed to Mrs. Saville from
Robert Walton. So already in the beginning, the reader is asked to participate in voyeurism, looking in
on a world through letters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The light of the story is passing through the lenses of Robert Walton, Victor Frankenstein, and finally
the antagonist of the story: the nameless Frankenstein monster. Shelly gradually drops these lenses
once again until we are back to Walton s letters to Mrs. Saville. The three main lenses of this narration
are also separate in space from the rest of humanity for the majority of this novel. Walton first sees the
Frankenstein monster and then Victor on his voyage north into the ice. It is only these two creatures,
and the adventurers of Walton s crew that would travel this far away from the comfort and
companionship of humanity. The first spoken encounter between Frankenstein and his monster occurs
on the icy glacier in the Swiss Alps near the source of the Arveiron. After Victor s ascent into the
mountains he is confronted by the monster and is led to an even higher peak to the hut of the monster
where the he begins his tale. The monster exists outside the sphere of humanity, right on the fringe. He
spends his formative months in the woods or inside his hiding place outside the cottage of the exiled
French Nationals. The only people who ever hear the monster are Victor, the blind father of the
cottage, and William right before he dies. The rest of humanity, even if the monster tries to speak, is
unable to hear him. The monster is so far from what is right and normal that the capacity for
understanding is not within the grasp of normal human experience. The

The Patent Of Patent And Design Patent
1a) A patent is a new invention, or any new and useful improvement of an existing invention. The
patent owner has an exclusive right, in which the invention can normally only be exploited
(manufactured, used, sold, imported) by the owner. An invention may relate to a product or process.
There is, however, an important distinction between a utility patent and a design patent. A utility
patent protects the functional aspects of an invention; a design patent protects only the appearance of
an invention and not its structure or utilitarian features. Moreover, a utility patent covers any process,
machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvements
thereof. A design patent covers any new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture.
The word useful is critical in differentiating between utility patent and design patent. Despite their
cleverness and novelty, many design patents lack utility. The shapes or ornamentations that make up a
design do not necessarily perform any function or contribute to the utility of the underlying article.
Nevertheless, the design clearly can have commercial value without having a functional aspect. For
instance, the shape of a particular brand of a sippy cup lid may influence purchasing decisions due to
its familiarity or appeal.
It is important to note, however, that in Canada (and Europe), design patents are protected as industrial
design registrations (a separate form of IP).

Julius Caesar Bust Essay
Since the ancient mesopotamian civilizations sculptures have played a crucial role in society and
history. Sculptures and busts have served varying purposes as far back as prehistory. They served as
guides for young women to understand their role as child bearer. Ancient civilizations began the
practice of sculpting gods and deities in order worship and comprehend their divine nature. Others use
busts and sculptures represent kings. Often times propagandic in nature, these depictions of rulers
often time presented the elite in a powerful and regal manner. Once the reign of the leaders end, often
due to death, busts and sculptures are created in their image to preserve their legacy. Funerary busts

Ultimately, the Greeks achieved mastery of human anatomy and proportion. After the Greek
civilization came the Roman Empire. The Romans captured the essence of the Greek style and added
their own personal flair to the sculpture. Though, their sculptures mostly mimicked the Greeks it also
provided a unique historical record and a deeper perspective of the ancient rulers of the time and
Roman dictator Julius Caesar is no exception. Many busts were sculpted of Julius Caesar throughout
his lifetime and after his reign. These busts ranged from materials such as bronze, marble, terracotta,
and most distinctly green schist. The green schist bust of Julius Caesar is a 16 inch sculpture sculpted
after his death. The bust was created with the many ideals of proportion and realism established by the
Greeks, that were later adopted by the Romans. This sculpture chooses to throw away the classical
style of idealism and takes on a defining sense of precise realism. Gloria states that these busts are,
unflattering as for they are honest .... In their lack of idealization and their affection for literal detail
they reveal Roman sculpture as a record of commonplace reality. The bust of Julius Caesar is
significant in Roman history because it gives insight into Roman ideals for art and architecture, it
provides a historical reference of Julius Caesar, and it demonstrates the importance of the ancestral
legacy of the Ancient

How Does Lee Use Injustice In To Kill A Mockingbird
False Justice She ran up to me, arms flailing at her sides. Her face was streaked with tears. She tripped
and tumbled as her six years old feet raced towards me. The little girl collapsed into my arms, her
tears slowing down. She doesn t need to be asked, for she tells me immediately: They think Donald
Trump will hurt me! I glare at the sneering boys, then look down at her dark, pretty face.
Discrimination is a terrible flaw in American society. Although those who are discriminated against
are victims of bias, a small portion of people learn to see through the lies and acknowledge the wrong,
as presented in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird and Maya Angelou s Still I Rise. Ms. Angelou

Harper Lee is careful with her word choice to create a heavy tone in the verdict scene: ...Mr.Jem, I ain
t ever seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man (238). The purpose of this
dialogue between Reverend Sykes and Jem is to foreshadow the wrongful outcome. While Scout is
waiting for the verdict, she thinks to herself I had never seen a packed courtroom so still (238). This
line builds suspense within the scene. The reader can visualize a room full of people holding their
breath. A jury never looks at a defendant it has convicted...none of them looked at Tom Robinson
(240). With this line, the reader knows that the jury has gone against rightful morals, convicting an
innocent man. This line further insinuates the focal point of the scene: color can dictate your fate, even
when you ve done nothing unlawful. In Still I Rise, Ms.Angelou uses action verbs to set an upfront
tone in the poem. ...shoot me with you words (21). The strong connotation of the word shoot contrasts
with words as words are not meant to be tangible weapons. Lines in the poem that reflect such a
contrast as well are ...cut me with your eyes (22) and ...kill me with your hatefulness (23). These lines
are essential to the overall poem, as they help the reader understand the extent of which Maya
Angelou fights the status quo. Both authors have a different approach to set up the tone of a scene or
poem:

How Did Erasmus Influence The Church
Desiderius Erasmus was born in Holland in 1466. Margaret, his mother, was the daughter of a
physician and his father Roger was a priest. He was given a semi monastic teaching and at a young
age, his father sent him to a Latin grammar school. Erasmus had little time with his parents due to the
plague that killed them both in 1483. After his parents died, the guardians with whom Erasmus was
being cared by were persistent about him becoming a monk. In 1492, Erasmus took the holy vows of
monks at the canonry of Stein in Holland. He was soon ordained a priest and poverty was a big factor
in his decision to enter the monastery. In the adult years of his life, Erasmus was a traditional scholar
who studied and resided in France, England, and Italy. 1516 was a major year for Erasmus. He
prepared to release copies of the New Testament in Latin and Greek versions. By translating the New
Testament into Greek and Latin, it presented a new reasonable and logical idea of the Christian
doctrine. This raised questions that would later on impact the Reformation greatly. Erasmus used the
theoretical methods invented by Italian humanists to help his understanding and to help others further

generate no waste, to be 100 percent powered by renewable energy and to sell lots more products that

what any company, even one as vast as Walmart, can do. Most of its environmental gains have come
from doing what Walmart has always done very well driving efficiency in its stores and supply chain.
When sustainable initiatives cost more money, as they sometimes do, progress has been halting. Still,
Walmart deserves at least two cheers, maybe two and half for its efforts, particularly in the current,
dispiriting political climate. As Elizabeth Sturcken of the Environmental Defense Fund, which works
closely with Walmart, told me: Leadership on environmental issues is coming from Bentonville these

protection on clean air and clean water, saying it s bad for business. Our work with Walmart proves
that s not true ... Generally, all the signs that I see are full speed ahead. Andrea Thomas, who has led

Celebrities Acting with Humanism
In the reading Existentialism is a Humanism , the author Jean Paul Sartre presents the idea of
Existentialism. He introduces this idea by stating that man s plan in this world is not pre determined,
as we only determine who we are or who we want to become throughout life. Sartre states that a
person is what a person does. He also uses a metaphoric scenario of a man jumping on a scene before
defining himself. These two ideas imply that man has no ultimate meaning, and it is up to us to find it
through experience and by taking action. Additionally, Sartre also implies that humans have a huge
responsibility on becoming who they want to become as it is only up to them to do so, making us
entirely responsible for our existence. Sartre states that, when we say that man is responsible for
himself, we do not mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he is responsible for
all men. This quote implies that men are not only responsible for their own lives but also responsible
for the development of society as we are all an example to everyone that is born after us. Everyone
that is new to this world looks up to their ancestors in order to see what they were like and to use them
as a point of guidance in order to go through life. This quote also implies that men should behave in a
way that improves this society because their actions will likely be replicated in the near future. An
example of such behavior can be the one of a mother, as she is very

Halos Research Paper
Scientists using NASA s Hubble Space Telescope have discovered that the i halo of gas enveloping the
Andromeda galaxy, our nearest massive neighbor, is about six times larger and 1,000 times more
massive than previously measured. The dark, nearly invisible halo stretches about a million light years
from its host galaxy, halfway to our own Milky Way galaxy. One of the most common types of
galaxies in the universe.
Halos are the gaseous atmospheres of galaxies. The properties of these gaseous halos control the rate
at which stars form in galaxies according to models of galaxy formation, explained the lead Nicolas
Lehner. The gargantuan halo is estimated to contain half the mass of the stars in the Andromeda
galaxy itself, in the form of a hot, diffuse gas. If it could be viewed with the naked eye, the halo would
be 100 times the diameter of the full Moon in the sky. This is equivalent to the patch of sky covered by

Macbeth Tragic Hero
In Shakespeare s play Macbeth, the main character goes from being a virtuous war hero at the
beginning of the story to a malevolent tyrant towards the end. This defines Macbeth as a tragic hero
throughout the play. A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably
leads to his/her own destruction. Not only does he fit the definition of a tragic hero, but he also
exhibits many important characteristics that shape this description. These characteristics include being
an individual of high noble birth and incorporating many admirable heroic qualities. Further, tragic
heroes are doomed to make a serious error in judgement and are responsible for their own fate. As
well as this, they have a tragic flaw, leading them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to the first murderer telling Macbeth that Fleance had escaped the murder, Macbeth states,
The young snake that escaped will in time become poisonous and threatening (3.4.32 33). This shows
how Macbeth realized how he made an irreversible mistake as he knew that the witches predicted
Banquo s sons to eventually become king. Therefore, Fleance could be a threat to his throne. Before
this occurred, Macbeth also says, Then comes my fit again. I had else been perfect, Whole as the
marble, founded as the rock, As broad and general as the casing air. But now I am cabined, cribbed,
confined, bound in To saucy doubts and fears (3.4.23 27). This event proves how Macbeth is worried
about his throne as confidence in safety and innocence collapses. Now that Fleance has escaped as
well, Macbeth is put up with the greater threat of trying to find him again later on in order kill him.
This allows Fleance to stay safe for a while, and become a larger threat to Macbeth as he is becoming
more prepared and older for the throne if something were to happen to Macbeth. After he realizes that
he had made an irreversible mistake, Macbeth then accepts responsibility for his own fate. Upon
seeing the ghost of Banquo at his banquet, Macbeth says, You can t say I did it. Don t shake your
bloody head at me (3.4.59 60). This highlights how Macbeth is unconsciously facing and accepting
the responsibility for his own fate. Since Macbeth saw a ghost of his best friend that he killed, this
shows how guilt is definitely on his mind, and how he must be ashamed of his actions. If Macbeth
honestly didn t face and accept responsibility for his own fate, he would have disregarded the ghost
altogether and probably would have went with the assumption of having too much wine when he first
came in contact with the ghost. Towards the end of the play, Macbeth decides to leave his castle and

Critique Of An Article Aimed At Obesity Prevention Within...
A critique of an article aimed at obesity prevention within preschool children (aged 3 6 years old) An
article, published by Health Promotion Journal of Australia discussed the results of a 10 month study
focused on improving Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), increasing fruit and vegetable
consumption, and reducing the consumption of unhealthy snacks (Zask et al. 2012, p. 10) within 18
community preschools of 3 6 year olds. Our perception of healthy eating is formed at an early age, and
by commencing an early healthy eating and physical activity plan it will provide children with a good
basis for adulthood. The aim of the study has been achieved by increasing fruit and vegetable
consumption and improving FMS which has led to a decrease in the children s body mass index
(BMI), an increase in fruit and vegetable serves in children s lunchboxes, and improved physical
activity skills (Zask et al. 2012, p. 13). The study has tried to minimise discrepancies in the data
collected by using the same researchers to collect the data/measurements and by ensuring the control
and intervention group were similar in socioeconomic status (Zask et al. 2012, p. 11). I felt the study
was unable to monitor the fruit and vegetables consumed and physical activity, out of preschool hours.
This information was obtained via a parent survey, which may be inaccurate, therefore may have
impacted on the data collected. Overall I felt, the study has achieved its goal of promoting healthy

Langston Hughes Guilt
Langston Hughes definitely wanted to get an extremely critical point across with this essay. That point
was about the amount of guilt a young teenager can experience when not reaching the religious
standards that were established by those around them. This also brings up many questions similar to,
Is a young teenager s brain capable of comprehending religious concepts? and Does society pressure
young people into being a certain way? I believe these are the types of questions that the author truly
wants readers to consider. These issues weren t difficult to capture from the essay due to Mr. Hughes s
clever cause and effect technique. For instance, we saw Langston Hughes s emotional reaction to the
lie he had made about seeing Jesus.

The Complexity of the United Nations
I choose this topic to reflect more about the complexity of the UN as an organization. In this paper I
want to present an overview standpoint of documents, publications, databases and websites to show
the history and the different branches in the organization and raise some of the accusations behind the
peacekeepers.
After the First World War, people felt the necessity of an international organization with the task of
maintaining global peace. After the 1st World War the League of Nations was the outcome of that
feeling, but it was found that nations were unwilling to give any international authority the jurisdiction
over their lands. But after the result of these selfish policies the Second World War started. At the
close of this second catastrophic war, the minds of men turned again to evoke a more effective world
organization, to establish peace and mutual understanding.
Chapter I of the United Nations Charter lay out the purposes and principles of the United Nations
organization. These principles include the equality and self determination of nations, respect of human
rights and fundamental freedoms.
This organization was planned at a Conference of Nations held at Dumbarton Oaks, U.S.A., and at
another held a few months later at San Francisco. It was named the United Nations Organization
(UNO) and was inaugurated on October 24, 1945. Now, membership has doubled since its
inauguration with 192 member states. New members are admitted if the five sponsoring nations, USA,

Macbeth is a play about loss. Discuss
In the tragedy Macbeth, William Shakespeare explores the theme of loss through protagonist Macbeth.
At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is a hero of noble stature whose fortunes are reversed as a result
of weakness. He becomes overwhelmed by his tragic flaw of vaulting ambition and his own actions
lead to his very nemesis. Macbeth loses his conscience after murdering King Duncan, sold his soul to

We can assume any activity in the control is from enzymes besides SDH since there is no succinate, or
substrate, for SDH added. By subtracting this amount from the other reactions ,we obtained a more
accurate result of what SDH activity was, The normalized SDH activity of two homogenates can be
compared by looking at the class statistics for the Liver and Kidney homogenate samples in the data
sheet attached. The kidney exhibited higher enzyme SDH activity than the liver. This was in
agreement with the proposed hypothesis. Comparing the same two homogenates in which malonate
was present, it can be seen that the kidney exhibited higher SDH activity than the liver. Thus, both
homogenates did in fact have a decrease in enzyme activity, as malonate inhibits the activity of SDH.
In successive experiments more malonate was used, and class statistics, not the activity itself, showed
lower amounts of enzyme activity/mg protein as reaction number increased and a greater significance.
Thus, malonate s effect did increase proportionally to its concentration. There was a significant
difference in SDH activity between the liver and kidney homogenates (p=0.0001)0.05). (Figure 1)

The Persian Gulf War, otherwise known as the Gulf War was an international conflict that began in
August of 1990 when Iraq invaded Kuwait. Kuwait is located on the northwestern corner of the
Persian Gulf. Kuwait is considered a wealthy country, with many oil refineries and a great military
advantage with the location along the Gulf ( Kuwait ). Iraq s leader Saddam Hussein, ordered the
invasion, with the goal of gaining possession of large oil reserves and expanding Iraqi power in
Kuwait ( Persian ). On August 3, 1990 the United Nations calls for Iraq to withdraw their forces from

Development of a Lab-on-a-Chip Device to Detect DNA Double...
Proposal Summary
We propose to develop a lab on a chip device for the detection of DNA double strand breaks in situ.
Current technology requires laborious manipulation of the cell sample by fixation and staining with
antibody and an optical based detection. All in all, the process may take up to several days before
results are retrieved. The development of an on site, immediate monitoring system will greatly benefit
our understanding of DNA damage causes and prevention as well assessment of radiation risk by
tracking such events instantaneously. Our proposed device is based on individually addressable carbon
nanotube (CNT) array capable of multiplexing for detection of multiple analytes and targets from a
biological sample. The impact of this device in our information based world is manifold. Not only will
the device make it accessible for the user to track, assess and follow trends of their own DNA damage
levels but also empowers the user in making more informed lifestyle choices. Introduction
With rising urbanization, the DNA in our cells is increasingly being exposed to DNA damaging agents
such as UV light, mutagenic chemicals, reactive oxygen species generated by Ionizing Radiation (IR)
or redox cycling by heavy metal ions and radio mimetic drugs etc. DNA Double strand breaks (DSBs)
occur when reactive oxygen species react with DNA bases causing lesions in the chromosomes and
the formation of foci known as Radiation induced foci (RFI). RFI are marked by the

Renaissance Jousting And Fencing Essay
Renaissance Jousting and fencing John choi pr 1
One of the earliest forms of weapon to weapon combat was jousting and fencing. Jousting was one of
the earliest forms of horseback combat for soldiers, before it was even a sport, and fencing dates back
to the Egyptians as an early fighting style. The art of jousting involves the use of a lance which was a
long pointed spear with a cone all the way to the base of the handle and fencing required a Rapier,
which was a thin long sword that was more of a jabbing weapon than a slicing weapon. These two
martial arts have been through lots of changes throughout the renaissance. Jousting was one of the

Fencing has always been regarded as more than a sport; it is an art form, an ancient symbol of power
and glory, and a deeply personal, individual form of expression. The lance or Pike was a cone like
spear that was to be used on a horseback knight and was used as the leading charge in the cavalry. On
the back of the shaft where pole meets spear there was a guard called a Vamplate to prevent the hand
from sliding into the spear, after the Pike had hit the target. The lance was typically not used in close
range melee due to its tremendous weight and size and the lancers, would always carry a small sword,
or mace for had to hand combat when they were off of the horse. The Fencing sword or Rapier is a
thin long pointed sword that was mostly used as a jabbing weapon than the traditional slicing weapon.
The Rapier relied on quick thrusts the pierce open spots on ones armor. The Rapier consists of the

By: Woody Guthrie
There are many fold songs that go unheard. But when you go back to the roots of folk music, there is
one that most every American recognizes. This Land Is Your Land has been a staple of Americana for
nearly 75 years. The lyrics start off by giving a visual image of the vastness of America. It mentions
California and the New York Island which focuses on the widest breadth of the country. Then it
mentions the Redwood Forest (Which is also in California), and the Gulf Stream waters which are two
easily recognizable features that are unique to America. While reminding the listener in the first line

Nobody living can ever make him turn back, because this land was made for everyone. He is just
saying that he will not give up just because it is hard. When the land was MADE for everyone, he is
not going to stop until he has reached it. The last verse that is kept out of the song is without a doubt
the very best one. It says that he has seen his people in the squares of the city and in the shadow of a

after everything that he had seen, was this land really made for everyone? After seeing all this

Super Rugby Research Paper
Rugby Union is a sport that has been a key part of Australian culture for hundreds of years. It began as
a modest competition between a few clubs but slowly went through many changes over the last
century. In this paper, I will discuss the history and outcomes of the gradual commercialization of
Rugby Union and relate it to my experience at a Super Rugby game. By the turn of the 20th century,
Rugby Union was already undergoing a significant change. Popular clubs were being disbanded in
favor of creating district clubs . Although it was met with criticism 100 years ago, I believe this was a
step in the right direction, as we learned the importance of linking a club to its community in our
studies of Rugby League. After a brief period of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First and foremost, a game that was once played and viewed for fun now requires fans to purchase
tickets to enter. Also, they were playing in a stadium sponsored by the insurance company Allianz, and
that was only the beginning of the advertisements I saw. All over the stadium were billboards
advertising various companies. The jerseys that the players wore even had advertisements on them, as
did the ones being sold to adoring fans. Furthermore, concession stands sold average food and
beverages at relatively high prices. This certainly does not mean I did not enjoy my experience at the
game far from it, in fact. The matchup and game itself was a far more exciting experience than I had at
the Rugby League game, and the blatant commercialization did not take away from the event.
Nonetheless, it was quite obvious that the franchises try to nickel and dime the fans at every turn, but
this is something I have come to expect after years of attending sporting events. All in all, it is easy to
see how and why Rugby Union has become commercialized over the years. The sport had to make
changes to survive, and it ended up working out well for the sport and its fans. Even if it now costs
money to attend an event that was somewhat recently free to watch, I am happy to pay money to the

Adolf Hiltler Shows Good Can be Manipulated into Evil
Is humanity inherently good or evil? I believe that humanity is inherently good and really does believe
in doing good and helping. But I believe that if that good is put into the wrong hands or is treated the
wrong way then that good can be manipulated into the evil that we find today in our world. The
political figure that I have chosen to show how I express this belief is Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler was
born on the 20th of April in the year 1889, in the small Austrian town of Braunau. Both of Hitlers
parents came from very poor families, his father was the illegitimate son of a housemaid, Alois Hitler
was a intelligent and ambitious man and was very much respected man at hitlers time. Alois was a
senior customs official in lower Austria. Klara Polzl, hitlers mom, left her home at the age of sixteen to
live with her cousin, Alois Hitler, in the house hold that the cousins lived in Alois started a sexual
relationship with a house maid, Franziska Matzelberger. Franziska saw Klara as a potential rival who
could get in the middle of her and Alois love and insisted that she leave household which she did. In
1882 Franziska gave birth to a son named Alois. When Anna Hitler(woman Alois first married) died in
1883, Alois then married Franziska and two months after the wedding Franziska gave birth to the
second child, Angela. Soon after Franziska developed tuberculosis and Alois told Klara to come back

The society of Waknuk is driven by a Definition and true image. They teach subjects in favour of their

behind the beliefs ingrained in a person from a young age and take on a new set of beliefs

of America and Wells Fargo. After reviewing all the options for different accounts and the pros and
cons of each bank, I believe Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union is the right bank for me.
Bank of America and Wells Fargo have multiple types of checking accounts. For the purposes of
comparisons, I chose the most basic account type to compare to HVFCU, which only has one
available type of checking account. Bank of America offers Core Checking and Interest

Stephen King s Insight On Dreams
Stephen King s insight on dreams are all based on personal experiences. King begins by comparing
the functionality of a dream to a mirror I ve always used dreams the way you d use a mirror to look at
something you couldn t see head on . By using this idea of dreams being like mirrors, King is able to
alleviate his writer s block by depicting his dreams directly onto paper. An example would be when
King had already written seven to eight hundred pages of his novel which he could not seem to finish.
Then later reveals how a nightmare provoked the ending, he states how he woke up frightened yet at
the same time relieved he d finished the book. According to King all he had to do at this point was to
take his dream and transfer it to paper. Without a doubt, King s personal experiences can justify why
he believes dreams are a way that people s minds illustrate the nature of their problems. Or maybe
even illustrates the answer to their problem in symbolic language .
After reading Stephen King s essay, it is easy to conclude that his dreams are extremely valuable to his
writing. King makes it clear that he has a consistent writing habit, but an unpredictable though
process. King also believes that a strong writer can dream while awake. He illustrates many example
where he uses dreams to create or finish a novel or film. This approach is random and unpredictable.
An example of his approach would be when he was working on the Salems Lot. King explains how he
relied on a nightmare

Totalitarianism Dbq Essay
In the 20th century totalitarian governments had come to power in Italy, Germany, and the Soviet
Union. These governments had forced their political authority and centralized control over all aspects
of life (Document 3 and 6). The government had imposed public gatherings to invade people s lives
and indoctrination of totalitarian ideas had influenced youth organizations and literature to help the
government gain authority over one s country (Document 2). One method used by totalitarian
dictatorship is having mass rallies and speeches. The totalitarian government that used these method

They implemented Communist values throughout youth programs, and used collective farmers
ransack villages, and gave it to the government to distribute in the cities. In the Soviet Union the
government mainly targeted youth groups since it was easier to manipulate children then adults; In the
schools, Communism was always the theme in everything they learned. Red Challenge Banner
(Document 6). This challenge was issued by the Communist government to help aid failing students,
the aid was issued by the government and they had named it red, which is the primary color of the
U.S.S.R ; showing how they implemented government colors into a child s life. Collective farmers,
which were issued by the government, were ransacking their own villages, taking away harvests and
household valuable such as sterling silver. The reason why this indoctrination is because the collective
farmers are harming their own assets just to see Communism be successful, or for the universal
triumph of Communism (Document 5). This shows that the government had introduced indoctrination
to their people allowing the totalitarian state to thrive especially if the Soviets were spreading

Defining Financial Terms and Role in Finance Essay
Running Head: DEFINING FINANCIAL TERMS AND ROLE IN FINANCE
Defining Financial Terms and Role in Finance
University of Phoenix
FIN 370/ Finance for Business
November 10, 2010
Defining Financial Terms and Role in Finance The following paragraphs contain financial terms and
their role in finance. The terms are finance, efficient market, primary market, secondary market, risk,
security, stock, bond, capital, debt, yield, rate of return, return on investment, and cash flow. The
fourteen terms all have an important relationship in the world of business. The first term is finance.
Finance is managing money or supplying funds to provide a resource. A bank or loan company is a
source of finance because they both provide cash. Cash is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The price is more or less than the issue price of the original company. The fifth term is risk. Risk is the
uncertainty or chance of a difference in the actual return earned on investment and the expected return
earned on the investment. There are three types of risk: market, credit, and operational. The company
return on an investment depends on which risk the company took. For example, people and companies
take risk sometimes when they make a financial investment or provide equipment and supplies for an
opportunity to receive a high return on their investment. The role of finance for a risk is the
uncertainty if they will receive payment for their investment. The higher the risk means the higher the
return. The lower the risk means the lower the return.
The next three terms have a correlation. The terms are security, stock, and bond. Security in finance is
the relationship and representation of stocks and bonds. Some securities are interest and dividend
based. Common and preferred stock, bonds, notes, debenture, and option are some examples of
securities. A stock represents ownership in a business, has face value, and may not carry a maturity
date. A stock s role in finance is as follows. Common stock has no fixed rate of dividend and has
voting rights. Preferred stock has a fixed rate of dividend and no voting rights and preferred are the
two types of stock. A bond is the last term of correlation. A bond is a fixed income security. A

Abe Lincoln Research Paper
Abraham Lincoln was considered by many American s as one of the greatest Presidents of the United
States. Having come from humble beginnings it could be said that Abraham Lincoln rose up to meet
all the challenges that would greet him, and it could be argued that at the time the only person who
could successfully guide the United States through the Civil War was Abraham Lincoln. At the time of
his presidency, the United States was falling apart, with the South trying to secede from the North,
creating much chaos that Lincoln had to deal with. He worked slowly and throughly, which sometimes
got people agitated but he was a very careful working man and knew that it was better if he took his
time. Abraham Lincoln was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 Lincoln felt as though African Americans were not equal to the white people, but he believed that all
men were created with certain rights. In 1857, the Supreme Court issued its controversial decision
Scott v. Sanford, declaring African Americans were not citizens and had no inherent rights. 3 This act
influenced Lincoln to stand up and speak out to what he thought was right and wrong, and in 1860,
Abe Lincoln became the President of the United States. Lincoln stands out as a great war president,
probably the greatest in our history, and a great natural strategist, a better one than any of his generals.
4 Lincoln was not a natural strategist, he worked hard to master the subject, just as he had done to
learn how to read and study to become a lawyer, nothing came easy to him and he had to work hard to
achieve whatever he wanted. He had no time to prepare becoming commander in chief, he had to learn
it on the job. Tried By War showed the dilemmas Lincoln had to overcome like, generals disobeying
orders, and the south trying to secede from the north. Lincoln wasn t a master of war, and did a lot of
studying to help him become a great commander in chief. Tried By War tells us how Lincoln had to
gradually overcome the slave issue because if he abolished slavery all at once, he would lose many of
the border states that had slaves, but were on the Union side.

Pilgrim Vs. The Thing, Make It Happen
The upcoming movie trailers we get before the start of every feature can either be a great advantage or
a great disadvantage. I have complained more than once about how the trailer ruined what otherwise
would have been a great scene simply because we d already seen it. Spoiler alert much? Or the trailer
looks so great! Just so amazingly awesome that this is definitely the movie we cannot miss...only to be
hit with crippling disappointment that the movie is 95% horrible and the 5% of the good stuff was
what pretty much made up the trailer. Or we have a movie like 10 Cloverfield Lane. Where the trailer
gives us so little to go on we are intrigued. I couldn t even find a satisfying enough summary for the
movie. When we get a teaser trailer like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These three character s trapped in this small space were able to pull off one hell of a story so kudos to
them on that! Michelle gave new meaning to the term Girl Power here, after finding herself trapped
she cries for like one minute and then the next thing you know she s starting fires and filing her
crutches into a shank all for the sake of escaping. We need more female role models like this. Emmett
was the kind of harmless country guy you d enjoy having a drink with. properly placed as the comic
relief he gave Michelle someone to conspire with. And then there s Howard. Goodman came out on
top as the very heart of this movie with Howard s constantly changing motives. Throughout the whole
movie you re never quite sure what to think of Howard, just as Michelle you re left wondering Is he
the hero? (He certainly likes to think he is) Or is he the one they need to escape from? Because you re
always in this frame of questioning, because of the tension from all three with their forced living space
there is never a dull moment and that s what makes this movie

  • 2. Responsible Stewardship Of Wild And Marine Life Responsible Stewardship Page 1 Responsible Stewardship of Wild and Marine Life And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all . Daniel 2:38 The above mentioned scripture from the Holy Bible may be interpreted in many ways, but in regards to stewardship, it displays God s overwhelming trust in mankind to protect and preserve the wildlife that he created. Even so, stewardship should not be taken lightly. It is a privilege bestowed upon mankind that not only embellishes God s plan to protect what he created but it also gives mankind a moral and ethical responsibility to ensure that our planet will continue to have sustainable resources for future generations to come. The word stewardship can be defined in many ways to suit many purposes, but for the purpose of preserving wildlife and other natural resources, the best definition comes from the Merriam Webster online dictionary. According to Webster, stewardship is defined as the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one s care (2012). When it comes to managing and planning resources related to our planet, stewardship embodies this concept fully. In the criminal justice field there are several areas in which stewardship is used to preserve our natural resources such as land and water. One of the most prevalent stewardships pertains to the conservation of wildlife ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People with cultural differences have different identities. Appearance wise, they tend to have a different skin color, a different dress code, different facial features, different hair, etc. These characteristics can easily help others categorize what cultural group they are in. People with different cultural backgrounds sometimes dress a certain way so you can easily see their identity through their clothes. • 6. A Context Dependent Memory Experiment Essay The experiment is as follows; one hundred students, randomly selected, participated in a context dependent memory experiment. twenty five were in each of the four following learn recall situations; hot room hot room, hot room cold room, cold room cold room, cold room hot room. They were asked to spend thirty minutes learning a list of thirty words. The next day they were asked to recall those words in a fifteen minute time period. There are no results. Context Dependent Memory in Environments with Hot and Cold Temperatures Context dependent memory is the concept that things are often best recalled in the same environment that they were learned. Smith and Vela (2001) provide four hypotheses as to how context dependent memory works. They appear as follows; reinstatement is the idea that memory is better when testing occurs in a reinstated environment as opposed to a different environment (Smith Vela, 2001) and this is true across all studies (Smith Vela, 2001), outshining implies that non contextual cues when used for guiding memory often diminish or eliminate the effects of contextual cues (Smith Vela, 2001), Overshadowing is the concept that if one s incidental environmental context is suppressed during learning, then environmental information will not be encoded and stored in memory, thereby reducing or eliminating effects of experimenter manipulated environments on memory (Smith Vela, 2001), and finally mental reinstatement ... • 7. Evaluation Of Research Methods And Data Collection A... In the textbook s evaluation of research methods and data collection a useful acronym referenced for remembering and evaluating research was LOTS of data (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The L stands for life record data that is obtained by looking at a person s life history. A person s life history can be accessed and assessed by looking up police, court, or public records. The O stands for observational data which is information given by knowledgeable observers of the person in question. This data is obtained usually via questionnaires or other rating forms. The T stands for test data in which the information is collected from experiments where researchers measure performance. This data is usually performed in a lab where the environment can be controlled in order to test and measure a specific item. The last letter of the acronym, the letter S, stands for self report data in which participants report about themselves usually via questionnaires. Additionally to the LOTS of data acronym, sources of data can also differ in their respective measures. Two categories of measures cited in the textbook are nomothetic measures and ideographic measures (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Nomothetic measures are fixed procedures that use the same test items for every participant and calculate the scores for all participants in exactly the same way. An example of nomothetic measures would be true or false questions, and yes or no questions. This method is most commonly used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Separation Between the Narration in Response to... In reading Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, a motif of distance and separateness can be discerned from the text. In the structure of the narrative, the reader is distant from the action. The setting of the narrative is situated often in isolated and nearly inaccessible areas, creating separateness between the action of the story and the everyday world. The Frankenstein monster is remote compared to the rest of world by narrative structure, geographic area, and his namelessness. The reader must look through several lenses throughout the novel. The letters that begin the book are addressed to Mrs. Saville from Robert Walton. So already in the beginning, the reader is asked to participate in voyeurism, looking in on a world through letters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The light of the story is passing through the lenses of Robert Walton, Victor Frankenstein, and finally the antagonist of the story: the nameless Frankenstein monster. Shelly gradually drops these lenses once again until we are back to Walton s letters to Mrs. Saville. The three main lenses of this narration are also separate in space from the rest of humanity for the majority of this novel. Walton first sees the Frankenstein monster and then Victor on his voyage north into the ice. It is only these two creatures, and the adventurers of Walton s crew that would travel this far away from the comfort and companionship of humanity. The first spoken encounter between Frankenstein and his monster occurs on the icy glacier in the Swiss Alps near the source of the Arveiron. After Victor s ascent into the mountains he is confronted by the monster and is led to an even higher peak to the hut of the monster where the he begins his tale. The monster exists outside the sphere of humanity, right on the fringe. He spends his formative months in the woods or inside his hiding place outside the cottage of the exiled French Nationals. The only people who ever hear the monster are Victor, the blind father of the cottage, and William right before he dies. The rest of humanity, even if the monster tries to speak, is unable to hear him. • 11. The Patent Of Patent And Design Patent 1a) A patent is a new invention, or any new and useful improvement of an existing invention. The patent owner has an exclusive right, in which the invention can normally only be exploited (manufactured, used, sold, imported) by the owner. An invention may relate to a product or process. There is, however, an important distinction between a utility patent and a design patent. A utility patent protects the functional aspects of an invention; a design patent protects only the appearance of an invention and not its structure or utilitarian features. Moreover, a utility patent covers any process, machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvements thereof. A design patent covers any new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture. The word useful is critical in differentiating between utility patent and design patent. Despite their cleverness and novelty, many design patents lack utility. The shapes or ornamentations that make up a design do not necessarily perform any function or contribute to the utility of the underlying article. Nevertheless, the design clearly can have commercial value without having a functional aspect. For instance, the shape of a particular brand of a sippy cup lid may influence purchasing decisions due to its familiarity or appeal. It is important to note, however, that in Canada (and Europe), design patents are protected as industrial design registrations (a separate form of IP). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Romans captured the essence of the Greek style and added their own personal flair to the sculpture. Though, their sculptures mostly mimicked the Greeks it also provided a unique historical record and a deeper perspective of the ancient rulers of the time and Roman dictator Julius Caesar is no exception. Many busts were sculpted of Julius Caesar throughout his lifetime and after his reign. These busts ranged from materials such as bronze, marble, terracotta, and most distinctly green schist. The green schist bust of Julius Caesar is a 16 inch sculpture sculpted after his death. She doesn t need to be asked, for she tells me immediately: They think Donald Trump will hurt me! I glare at the sneering boys, then look down at her dark, pretty face. Discrimination is a terrible flaw in American society. Harper Lee is careful with her word choice to create a heavy tone in the verdict scene: ...Mr.Jem, I ain t ever seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man (238). The purpose of this dialogue between Reverend Sykes and Jem is to foreshadow the wrongful outcome. While Scout is waiting for the verdict, she thinks to herself I had never seen a packed courtroom so still (238). This line builds suspense within the scene. The reader can visualize a room full of people holding their breath. A jury never looks at a defendant it has convicted...none of them looked at Tom Robinson (240). With this line, the reader knows that the jury has gone against rightful morals, convicting an innocent man. This line further insinuates the focal point of the scene: color can dictate your fate, even when you ve done nothing unlawful. In Still I Rise, Ms.Angelou uses action verbs to set an upfront tone in the poem. ...shoot me with you words (21). The strong connotation of the word shoot contrasts with words as words are not meant to be tangible weapons. Lines in the poem that reflect such a contrast as well are ...cut me with your eyes (22) and ...kill me with your hatefulness (23). • 14. How Did Erasmus Influence The Church Desiderius Erasmus was born in Holland in 1466. Margaret, his mother, was the daughter of a physician and his father Roger was a priest. He was given a semi monastic teaching and at a young age, his father sent him to a Latin grammar school. Erasmus had little time with his parents due to the plague that killed them both in 1483. After his parents died, the guardians with whom Erasmus was being cared by were persistent about him becoming a monk. In 1492, Erasmus took the holy vows of monks at the canonry of Stein in Holland. He was soon ordained a priest and poverty was a big factor in his decision to enter the monastery. In the adult years of his life, Erasmus was a traditional scholar who studied and resided in France, England, and Italy. 1516 was a major year for Erasmus. He prepared to release copies of the New Testament in Latin and Greek versions. By translating the New Testament into Greek and Latin, it presented a new reasonable and logical idea of the Christian doctrine. This raised questions that would later on impact the Reformation greatly. Yet a closer look at the report demonstrates that there are limits to what any company, even one as vast as Walmart, can do. Most of its environmental gains have come from doing what Walmart has always done very well driving efficiency in its stores and supply chain. When sustainable initiatives cost more money, as they sometimes do, progress has been halting. Still, Walmart deserves at least two cheers, maybe two and half for its efforts, particularly in the current, dispiriting political climate. As Elizabeth Sturcken of the Environmental Defense Fund, which works closely with Walmart, told me: Leadership on environmental issues is coming from Bentonville these days, not from Washington. • 16. Celebrities Acting with Humanism In the reading Existentialism is a Humanism , the author Jean Paul Sartre presents the idea of Existentialism. He introduces this idea by stating that man s plan in this world is not pre determined, as we only determine who we are or who we want to become throughout life. Sartre states that a person is what a person does. He also uses a metaphoric scenario of a man jumping on a scene before defining himself. These two ideas imply that man has no ultimate meaning, and it is up to us to find it through experience and by taking action. Additionally, Sartre also implies that humans have a huge responsibility on becoming who they want to become as it is only up to them to do so, making us entirely responsible for our existence. Sartre states that, when we say that man is responsible for himself, we do not mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he is responsible for all men. This quote implies that men are not only responsible for their own lives but also responsible for the development of society as we are all an example to everyone that is born after us. Everyone that is new to this world looks up to their ancestors in order to see what they were like and to use them as a point of guidance in order to go through life. Halos Research Paper Scientists using NASA s Hubble Space Telescope have discovered that the i halo of gas enveloping the Andromeda galaxy, our nearest massive neighbor, is about six times larger and 1,000 times more massive than previously measured. The dark, nearly invisible halo stretches about a million light years from its host galaxy, halfway to our own Milky Way galaxy. One of the most common types of galaxies in the universe. Halos are the gaseous atmospheres of galaxies. The properties of these gaseous halos control the rate at which stars form in galaxies according to models of galaxy formation, explained the lead Nicolas Lehner. The gargantuan halo is estimated to contain half the mass of the stars in the Andromeda galaxy itself, in the form of a hot, diffuse gas. If it could be viewed with the naked eye, the halo would be 100 times the diameter of the full Moon in the sky. In response to the first murderer telling Macbeth that Fleance had escaped the murder, Macbeth states, The young snake that escaped will in time become poisonous and threatening (3.4.32 33). This shows how Macbeth realized how he made an irreversible mistake as he knew that the witches predicted Banquo s sons to eventually become king. Therefore, Fleance could be a threat to his throne. Before this occurred, Macbeth also says, Then comes my fit again. I had else been perfect, Whole as the marble, founded as the rock, As broad and general as the casing air. But now I am cabined, cribbed, confined, bound in To saucy doubts and fears (3.4.23 27). This event proves how Macbeth is worried about his throne as confidence in safety and innocence collapses. Now that Fleance has escaped as well, Macbeth is put up with the greater threat of trying to find him again later on in order kill him. This allows Fleance to stay safe for a while, and become a larger threat to Macbeth as he is becoming more prepared and older for the throne if something were to happen to Macbeth. After he realizes that he had made an irreversible mistake, Macbeth then accepts responsibility for his own fate. Upon seeing the ghost of Banquo at his banquet, Macbeth says, You can t say I did it. Don t shake your bloody head at me (3.4.59 60). This highlights how Macbeth is unconsciously facing and accepting the responsibility for his own fate. Since Macbeth saw a ghost of his best friend that he killed, this shows how guilt is definitely on his mind, and how he must be ashamed of his actions. If Macbeth honestly didn t face and accept responsibility for his own fate, he would have disregarded the ghost altogether and probably would have went with the assumption of having too much wine when he first came in contact with the ghost. A critique of an article aimed at obesity prevention within preschool children (aged 3 6 years old) An article, published by Health Promotion Journal of Australia discussed the results of a 10 month study focused on improving Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), increasing fruit and vegetable consumption, and reducing the consumption of unhealthy snacks (Zask et al. 2012, p. 10) within 18 community preschools of 3 6 year olds. Our perception of healthy eating is formed at an early age, and by commencing an early healthy eating and physical activity plan it will provide children with a good basis for adulthood. The aim of the study has been achieved by increasing fruit and vegetable consumption and improving FMS which has led to a decrease in the children s body mass index (BMI), an increase in fruit and vegetable serves in children s lunchboxes, and improved physical activity skills (Zask et al. 2012, p. 13). The study has tried to minimise discrepancies in the data collected by using the same researchers to collect the data/measurements and by ensuring the control and intervention group were similar in socioeconomic status (Zask et al. 2012, p. 11). We can assume any activity in the control is from enzymes besides SDH since there is no succinate, or substrate, for SDH added. By subtracting this amount from the other reactions ,we obtained a more accurate result of what SDH activity was, The normalized SDH activity of two homogenates can be compared by looking at the class statistics for the Liver and Kidney homogenate samples in the data sheet attached. The kidney exhibited higher enzyme SDH activity than the liver. This was in agreement with the proposed hypothesis. Comparing the same two homogenates in which malonate was present, it can be seen that the kidney exhibited higher SDH activity than the liver. Thus, both homogenates did in fact have a decrease in enzyme activity, as malonate inhibits the activity of SDH. In successive experiments more malonate was used, and class statistics, not the activity itself, showed lower amounts of enzyme activity/mg protein as reaction number increased and a greater significance. Thus, malonate s effect did increase proportionally to its concentration. There was a significant difference in SDH activity between the liver and kidney homogenates (p=0.0001)0.05). Current technology requires laborious manipulation of the cell sample by fixation and staining with antibody and an optical based detection. All in all, the process may take up to several days before results are retrieved. The development of an on site, immediate monitoring system will greatly benefit our understanding of DNA damage causes and prevention as well assessment of radiation risk by tracking such events instantaneously. Our proposed device is based on individually addressable carbon nanotube (CNT) array capable of multiplexing for detection of multiple analytes and targets from a biological sample. The impact of this device in our information based world is manifold. Not only will the device make it accessible for the user to track, assess and follow trends of their own DNA damage levels but also empowers the user in making more informed lifestyle choices. • 38. Super Rugby Research Paper Rugby Union is a sport that has been a key part of Australian culture for hundreds of years. It began as a modest competition between a few clubs but slowly went through many changes over the last century. In this paper, I will discuss the history and outcomes of the gradual commercialization of Rugby Union and relate it to my experience at a Super Rugby game. By the turn of the 20th century, Rugby Union was already undergoing a significant change. Popular clubs were being disbanded in favor of creating district clubs . Although it was met with criticism 100 years ago, I believe this was a step in the right direction, as we learned the importance of linking a club to its community in our studies of Rugby League. After a brief period of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First and foremost, a game that was once played and viewed for fun now requires fans to purchase tickets to enter. Also, they were playing in a stadium sponsored by the insurance company Allianz, and that was only the beginning of the advertisements I saw. All over the stadium were billboards advertising various companies. The jerseys that the players wore even had advertisements on them, as did the ones being sold to adoring fans. Furthermore, concession stands sold average food and beverages at relatively high prices. This certainly does not mean I did not enjoy my experience at the game far from it, in fact. The matchup and game itself was a far more exciting experience than I had at the Rugby League game, and the blatant commercialization did not take away from the event. Nonetheless, it was quite obvious that the franchises try to nickel and dime the fans at every turn, but this is something I have come to expect after years of attending sporting events. All in all, it is easy to see how and why Rugby Union has become commercialized over the years. The sport had to make changes to survive, and it ended up working out well for the sport and its fans. Even if it now costs money to attend an event that was somewhat recently free to watch, I am happy to pay money to the cause if it means keeping these teams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Adolf Hiltler Shows Good Can be Manipulated into Evil Is humanity inherently good or evil? I believe that humanity is inherently good and really does believe in doing good and helping. But I believe that if that good is put into the wrong hands or is treated the wrong way then that good can be manipulated into the evil that we find today in our world. The political figure that I have chosen to show how I express this belief is Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler was born on the 20th of April in the year 1889, in the small Austrian town of Braunau. Both of Hitlers parents came from very poor families, his father was the illegitimate son of a housemaid, Alois Hitler was a intelligent and ambitious man and was very much respected man at hitlers time. Alois was a senior customs official in lower Austria. Klara Polzl, hitlers mom, left her home at the age of sixteen to live with her cousin, Alois Hitler, in the house hold that the cousins lived in Alois started a sexual relationship with a house maid, Franziska Matzelberger. Franziska saw Klara as a potential rival who could get in the middle of her and Alois love and insisted that she leave household which she did. In 1882 Franziska gave birth to a son named Alois. When Anna Hitler(woman Alois first married) died in 1883, Alois then married Franziska and two months after the wedding Franziska gave birth to the second child, Angela. Soon after Franziska developed tuberculosis and Alois told Klara to come back to the house to care for his two children to relive the stress on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the novel, The Chrysalids, John Wyndham portrays a society so secluded from the world that it remains stagnant. Waknuk has such an extreme belief system and those beliefs have been drilled in the minds of the people in Waknuk. It created a society full of convergent thinkers. They believe their ways are the only true way. They look down on people in their own society who are different in regards to the Definition of Man and the true image. Anyone who violates the Definition of Man or the true image is severely punished. They teach subjects in favour of their ideologies and ignore any outside information that might allow any dispute. However, in Sealand, people are able to have their own set of beliefs and they are free to share any of their opinions. If they do, they are not punished, rather, their opinions are taken into account and valued. Through the use of David Strorm, John Wyndham displays how hard it is to leave behind the beliefs ingrained in a person from a young age and take on a new set of beliefs characterized by one s own beliefs and values. Human nature is to rebel against change and follow tradition. Time and time again, we see people struggle to embrace new ideas, follow their own beliefs and values and live according to their own will, not one dictated by society. As the novel displays, it takes a strong individual to stand up and oppose the ideologies of their society to welcome their own morals and principles to live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Stephen King s Insight On Dreams Stephen King s insight on dreams are all based on personal experiences. King begins by comparing the functionality of a dream to a mirror I ve always used dreams the way you d use a mirror to look at something you couldn t see head on . By using this idea of dreams being like mirrors, King is able to alleviate his writer s block by depicting his dreams directly onto paper. An example would be when King had already written seven to eight hundred pages of his novel which he could not seem to finish. Then later reveals how a nightmare provoked the ending, he states how he woke up frightened yet at the same time relieved he d finished the book. According to King all he had to do at this point was to take his dream and transfer it to paper. Without a doubt, King s personal experiences can justify why he believes dreams are a way that people s minds illustrate the nature of their problems. Or maybe even illustrates the answer to their problem in symbolic language . After reading Stephen King s essay, it is easy to conclude that his dreams are extremely valuable to his writing. King makes it clear that he has a consistent writing habit, but an unpredictable though process. King also believes that a strong writer can dream while awake. He illustrates many example where he uses dreams to create or finish a novel or film. This approach is random and unpredictable. An example of his approach would be when he was working on the Salems Lot. King explains how he relied on a nightmare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The price is more or less than the issue price of the original company. The fifth term is risk. Risk is the uncertainty or chance of a difference in the actual return earned on investment and the expected return earned on the investment. There are three types of risk: market, credit, and operational. The company return on an investment depends on which risk the company took. For example, people and companies take risk sometimes when they make a financial investment or provide equipment and supplies for an opportunity to receive a high return on their investment. The role of finance for a risk is the uncertainty if they will receive payment for their investment. The higher the risk means the higher the return. The lower the risk means the lower the return. The next three terms have a correlation. The terms are security, stock, and bond. Security in finance is the relationship and representation of stocks and bonds. Some securities are interest and dividend based. Common and preferred stock, bonds, notes, debenture, and option are some examples of securities. A stock represents ownership in a business, has face value, and may not carry a maturity date. A stock s role in finance is as follows. Having come from humble beginnings it could be said that Abraham Lincoln rose up to meet all the challenges that would greet him, and it could be argued that at the time the only person who could successfully guide the United States through the Civil War was Abraham Lincoln. At the time of his presidency, the United States was falling apart, with the South trying to secede from the North, creating much chaos that Lincoln had to deal with. He worked slowly and throughly, which sometimes got people agitated but he was a very careful working man and knew that it was better if he took his time. Abraham Lincoln was not ... In 1857, the Supreme Court issued its controversial decision Scott v. Sanford, declaring African Americans were not citizens and had no inherent rights. 3 This act influenced Lincoln to stand up and speak out to what he thought was right and wrong, and in 1860, Abe Lincoln became the President of the United States. Lincoln stands out as a great war president, probably the greatest in our history, and a great natural strategist, a better one than any of his generals. 4 Lincoln was not a natural strategist, he worked hard to master the subject, just as he had done to learn how to read and study to become a lawyer, nothing came easy to him and he had to work hard to achieve whatever he wanted. He had no time to prepare becoming commander in chief, he had to learn it on the job. Tried By War showed the dilemmas Lincoln had to overcome like, generals disobeying orders, and the south trying to secede from the north. Lincoln wasn t a master of war, and did a lot of studying to help him become a great commander in chief. Tried By War tells us how Lincoln had to gradually overcome the slave issue because if he abolished slavery all at once, he would lose many of the border states that had slaves, but were on the Union side. ...
