What Is An Employee s Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy
1. What is an employee s reasonable expectation of privacy? An employee s privacy rights in the
workplace come down to the word Reasonable . The employee s rights in the workplace are very
different than it is in their personal lives. An employee cannot expect the workplace to be private, nor
their electronic communications to be private as well. Within the workplace, employers have the right
to reduce liabilities within the scope of the law to which they must adhere. For example, employers
have the right to ensure that email communication is being used for work related purposes (Gidin,
1999). Federal laws provide employers the right to monitor communications, retain records, and
conduct surveillance given that they provide proper notification

My Life Changed My Character
The event that permanently changed my character happened as I was on a life changing trip to Africa.
For some background information, I learned about the trip a year before and was immediately ecstatic.
At first it was just going to be me with some family friends journeying to Africa. With the personality
God gave me, I was probably even more excited with the aspect of being basically on my own. Ever
since I could read and fully utilize my imagination, the unsocial life of living in the abundant fantasy
worlds that authors and producers have created throughout the century has always been a solid thing
to fallback on whenever an escape is needed. Also, the sense of being utterly detached from my old
life entirely was another huge factor in the building of my anticipation. However, my dad got his
schedule rearranged and thus an unforgettable father son trip was born. If anyone were to ruin my
alone time and me be happy, the one person would have to be my father. The flights were going to be
long and awful if it was not for a good book that I picked up in an airport bookstore. I do not possess
the ability to sleep well on planes. Therefore, a long and enthralling book was perfect for me. Before I
knew it the plane landed in Kigali, Rwanda. My corrupted American view of Rwanda immediately
vanished once I saw a beautiful city on top of an even more beautiful plateau. The hotel car drivers
were polite and informative. They were also full of some great stories, but alas the

Science In The 1600s
Thought history scientists finding have been ignored, only to be discovered that their information was
beneficial. In the 1600s and 1700s, many astronomers and mechanics were focused on finding a way
to find the longitude of a ship s position at sea. John Harrison, a self taught carpenter and clockmaker
was able to create a solution, but no one with enough power to enforce his studies would listen to his
ideas. Similar to this, when Nicolaus Copernicus discovered that the earth revolved around the sun, no
one believed him because the belief at the time was that the earth was the center of the universe.
Despite no one appreciating what the two had discovered, several years after they had died, their
theories surfaced again and people began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, the two men worked in different fields of science. John Harrison worked in geography and
Copernicus worked in astronomy. Geography is the study of land and the relationships between the
land and the communities living in the area. If one studies geography, they also study the physical
properties of the land and how the people and animals use the land. Astronomy is the study of
astronomic objects, space and the physical universe. Besides this difference, Harrison had an
immediate successor to continue pressing the ideas of using clocks to solve the longitude issue.
Copernicus, on the other hand, had no one to help him continue his work once he had died; no one
wanted to be associated with his work because the Church had renounced it. Both men faced struggles
during their scientific career, but Harrison s work was able to continue to grow while Copernicus s
work came to a halt for several

The Yellow Wallpaper Essay
One additional reading of the color of the wallpaper is that it promotes a counter intuitive reading. The
color yellow is normally associated with happiness and light; in this case, it is linked to a malignant
source that drives the narrator insane. Because the reader expects the color yellow to be benevolent
and is disappointed, the reader is also forced to question everything else in the novel, especially those
things that seem to be obvious. The yellow wallpaper itself is presented as a symbol of creativity. With
its endless swirls and ornaments, the wallpaper does not follow any set pattern; in fact, it is this lack of
organization and structure that preoccupies the narrator to such an extent. In contrast to the unwieldy

Far more than any other type of illness, mental disorders are subject to negative judgements and
stigmatization. Many patients not only have to cope with the often devastating effects of their illness,
but also suffer from social exclusion and prejudices.Mental disorders are classified as a psychological
condition marked primarily by sufficient disorganization of personality, mind, and emotions to
seriously impair the normal psychological and often social functioning of the individual. People with
mental health problems say that the social stigma attached to mental ill health and the discrimination
they experience can make their difficulties worse and make it harder to recover. It s no secret that
mental health is routinely treated differently than physical health, but sometimes it s difficult to

From The Late Eighteenth To The Mid Twentieth Century,
From the late eighteenth to the mid twentieth century, European countries predominantly England and
France oversaw the expansion and collapse of their empires, during which time they had come to
understand their Eastern colonies through the lens of Orientalism. A term coined by the literary critic
Edward Said in 1978, Orientalism refers to the project through which Western artists and intellectuals
fabricated an image of the Orient an area stretching between India and the Bible Lands in order to
legitimise their control over it. This project characterised the East as an inferior, post civilised realm,
where order had been displaced by as Said writes an Oriental backwardness. However, by the end of
the nineteenth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having grown out of the post war Dada movement, Surrealism emerged in the early 1920s, formed by
a group of artists who aimed to challenge the bourgeois values that they saw as being responsible for
World War I. As Archer Straw writes, It is through this departure from redundant aspects of Western
culture that these avant garde figures became enamoured with Africa; however, it is apparent that this
obsession raised many problems.
One example of Man Ray s work that reveals an interest in negrophilia is his Portrait of Nancy
Cunard, created in 1926 (Figure 1). In this photograph, Cunard a socialite and ardent negrophile is
captured wearing thick ivory bangles , a leopard print dress, and dark kohl eye makeup, details which
reveal a predilection for African forms. By adopting this appearance, Cunard becomes a pseudo exotic
personality, expressing both her and Man Ray s desire to separate themselves from Europe through
racial otherness . However, although they attempt to achieve this they appear unsuccessful in doing so,
as this portrait merely suggests racial difference, a quality that figures like Cunard could exploit to
further their reputation in the West. Moreover, while the avant garde praised such images for
supposedly championing equality between black and white people, Archer Straw correctly identifies
them as regressive, as they perpetuate the myth that black culture can be understood

Analysis Of Marcus Aurelius And Cicero
Both Marcus Aurelius and Cicero try to create a guide, based on their stoic views, on how a person is
supposed to live a purposeful life. Marcus Aurelius was an emperor and Cicero was a politician, so
both serve somebody or something. In Cicero s On Friendship he bases his guides on what he has
learned from important people in his life. In Marcus Aurelius Meditations he bases his guide off of
what he has learned as an emperor with stoic views. Some of what he Aurelius has learned is different
from Cicero s view of stoicism; an example of this is in section seven of Meditations. Section seven of
Meditations is about what Aurelius learned from his tutor. He states, Endure hardship, and have few
needs; to do things for myself and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This point goes with what was previously stated, Cicero encourages doing things together and
allowing a friend to help. He also encourages interference with a friend s hardships or needs. In
section 73, Cicero answers the question, how much should we aid our friends? His answer is, We must
give them only such aid as is within our powers; second, only as much as the man we love and wish to
help can himself sustain (Cicero 77). Cicero definitely believes we should get involved with our friend
s issues but to a certain extent. As long as we can handle the amount of aid given and they can sustain
the amount given. Cicero does not believe friends should help with every little issue but he would say
that they should help with the larger issues that we cannot handle ourselves. Cicero would also
disagree with the point, turn a deaf ear to slander . Again, Cicero seems to be very confrontational. In
Cicero s view, he talks about flattery as a kind of slander. He is definitely against the use of flattery,
but he does not believe it should be ignored. He states in section 89, We may admonish, but we must
not scold; we may reprimand, but we must not humiliate (Cicero 84). Cicero believes people who
flatter should be confronted, whether it s by criticism or by reprimanding. He would say that they
should know what they are doing wrong because flattery is one of the worst things a friend could do.

Differences Between Pssycho And Psycho
When the topic for the research paper was decided on finding out how the cultural differences in a
movie and its remake versions are dealt with by film makers , it was astonishing to find many similar
works which were already done related to this topic. This proved that many observed films rather than
just watching it and were curious to learn the potential of films for holding up the cultural values and
beliefs of a particular society. In addition to this, all this studies were a sneak peek into the ways in
which films act as a medium for reinforcing the norms of a particular society, also how films create

the process what stood out was the effect the Hitchcock scene had on the audience that is his version
made it compelling to watch than its remake. This led to the conclusion that details matter and it is
what makes all the difference. Raymond Durgnat mention this in his book A Long Hard Look at
Psycho as thus: The superiority of Psycho over its apparent genre, lies not in its structure, but in its
fine detail (what Leavis used to call texture ) . Thus the essay concluded by saying that while it was
possible to duplicate a film shot chemically or digitally, it cannot be reproduced by re shooting.

Picture Paris And Bicycle Thieves Similarities
Sometimes people forget that food is an art and that it has the power to move us emotionally just as
music, literature and paintings can. Picture Paris and Bicycle Thieves are two films that both employ
the usage of narrative devices hand in hand with food to develop the characters and their family
bonds. Although each narrative revolves around the central themes of food, family and dignity the two
are developed in radically different ways. The Bicycle Thieves uses the concept of neorealism to
employ the theme of hunger by focusing on the day to day struggles the Italians faced after World War
II to develop a family bond whereas in Picture Paris the theme of food is used to draw a parallel
connection between her obsession with Paris and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the entirety of Picture Paris, we are following the story as an external narrator who seems
to know all the actions of everyone, primarily of Ellen, tells it. The audience is under the impression
that this narrator is predicting what will happen to Ellen even though noting has happened to her
through an omniscient perspective. Until the very end the narrator is anyone but someone who plays a
major role in the short film. Towards the end the narrator is revealed to be an internal character, the
protagonists boyfriend. Due to this newly acquired knowledge it has the audience question the
accuracy of the story. Did Ellen really kill her husband and bake him into the Pâté or did the narrator
toy with our minds and make us think what he is revealing is the truth. Bicycle Thieves conversely
mounts the story without a narrator. Without the narrator the story is unbiased and the audience knows
without a doubt in their mind where the story is heading and that Ricci unfortunately will most likely

Case Study On Intellectual Property
Based on Zizi s case study, there are some legal issues on intellectual property and the legal methods
that Zizi have to understand so that he may employ to protect his business property.
The purpose of intellectual property is to encourage creativity as well as to ensure reimbursement for
the labour of individuals. There are different type of intellectual property such as patent, trademark,
and copyright.
Patent is concerned about how it works rather than focus on the abstract ideas. In other words, it focus
on the process or method of making of a work or invention. On the other hand, trademark is a symbol
or sign which form by letter or number. It used to indicate a particular product or services. In addition,

According to the law of breach of confidence in the context of intellectual property is meant to protect
secrets and confidential. In addition, the law of confidence often acts complementary to copyright law
as well as the patent law. According to the case study of Zizi, when Zizi narrates the idea for a
software program to the Ben, the programmer. The latter would be under an obligation not to exploit
the idea without the permission of Zizi. Therefore, if Andrew uses the idea of Zizi without permission,
Andrew has infringe the breach of confidence.
On the other hand, fiduciary relationship such as partnership and trusts have been held to be relevant
in determining a duty of confidence. For example the case of Morison v Moat (1851). Therefore, if
Zizi found that his partner has break the duty of confidence. Zizi can take action about it.
Employment contracts usually have express terms imposing an obligation of confidence. All employee
will be under the obligation to protect trade secrets, even if this is not an express term in the contact.

Essay on Television as a Cultural Forum
Television can be considered a cultural forum. By cultural forum, this means issues and points of view
can be discussed openly and almost without punishment. These issues can vary anywhere from male
dominance in the household, to wars, to racism, to political jabs and still be covered under freedom of
speech. Television can hold a wide variety of opinions which may offend, but for the most part due so
to prove a point.
In the All in the Family episode we watched in class, it is no secret that Archie Bunker is racist. In

Men, being as stubborn as they are, continue the racial barrage and eventually stop talking.
In the episode of Father Knows Best, Betty seeks to pursue a traditionally male dominated profession.
Even though society looks down upon it, Betty still perseveres in her endeavors to pursue a job she
likes. Due to the current times, society sets a certain standard and you are expected to follow along
with it. Going against the grain is usually shunned or you are set apart from everyone else. I feel this is
a great quality, and more people should be like this.
In these two episodes, discrimination is evident. In Father Knows Best Betty is discriminated against
for attempting to pursue a profession that, in that time, was male dominated. In 2005, men and women
should be considered equals in the work force, and be entitled to the same opportunities. In that era,
women were teachers, men were doctors, etc. There were standard jobs for each sex. This is fine to
talk about because it is in the TV realm. Writers are allowed to poke fun at society s unwritten
standards. In All in the Family Archie discriminates again African Americans and George
discriminates against Caucasians. Archie is brutally honest, even for our generation. His complete
disregard for feelings almost makes him appear archaic, but when put under a microscope, we see the
writers are challenging society, pushing the envelope even further. This freedom

History, Preparation, Execution, Results, And Lessons...
Introduction In February 1941, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel received command of the recently
created Afrika Korps. The unit deployed to Libya in order to support the Italian Army that had recently
suffered setbacks against the British forces. For the next two years, Rommel s forces fought across the
North African desert against British forces led by Generals Archibald Wavell, Claude Auchinleck, and
Bernard Montgomery. The culminating point for this campaign was the two battles of El Alamein,
after which the Germans retreated to Tunisia and eventually surrendered. This case study will examine
the history, preparation, execution, results, and lessons learned during the Battles of El Alamein and
how that defeat helped lead to the overall Axis defeat in World War II (WWII).
History
The fighting on the African continent began before WWII. Italy, in the late 19th century, had colonies
in Libya, Eritrea, and Somaliland (now Somalia). In 1935, Bunito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy,
wanted to have an Italian East African Empire. To accomplish this, his Italian forces conquered
Ethiopia by 1936, forming his empire consisting of Somaliland, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. The British,
meanwhile, provided soldiers for the defense of the Suez Canal in Egypt in accordance with the Anglo
Egyptian Treaty of 1936. With Mussolini declaring war on England and France in June 1940, Britain
found itself surrounded by Italian forces.

Early in the 1900s, women were encouraged to consume liquids for energy throughout their labour by
Dr DeLee, an American (Singata, Tranmer, Gyte, 2013). Since then the common practice became to
reduce women s intake of food and fluid during labour as a result of a study conducted by Mendelson
in the 1940 s. Mendelson found that during a caesarean section with general anaesthetics women who
had a full stomach were at a great risk of having their stomach contents entering the lungs during their
caesarean section, a condition known as aspiration, which led to serious complications that were fatal
(Singata, Tranmer, Gyte, 2013). As this was contributing to a high number of maternal mortality and
morbidity the findings of Mendelson was a turning point for the care provided to women in labour. It
led to all women labouring, regardless of their risk status of having a caesarean section being advised
to restrict their intake of foods and fluids during labour by health care professionals (Singata, Tranmer,
Gyte, 2013). However, since the 1940 s medical technology has evolved immensely and with the new

The Importance Of Cemeterys
A cemetery is a burial ground, a graveyard, a sacred place, a grieving place, and for some, a place of
communication and healing. A graveyard is a sacred area set apart to hold graves, tombs, or funeral
urns, usually located on a church s property or in a large public park (Swensen, Nordh, Brendalsmo,
2016). Although some people are buried above ground, in most cultures around the world, bodies are
buried underground (Kearnes Rickards, 2017). A cemetery is the last part of the death system that an
individual will encounter. Other parts of the death system include hospice care, funeral homes,
emergency medical systems, police, hospitals, nursing homes, and clergy and coroner s offices. With
cemeteries being the place where loved ones are buried, society has put a spotlight on cemeteries. But
what happens when these places of spiritual and religious importance are labeled as haunted and
become areas of high tourist interest? Savannah, Georgia is known as one of the most haunted cities of
the United States (Gentry, 2007). Along with the obvious, noticeable graveyards spread throughout
Savannah, there are also lost graveyards that are marked using plaques (Gentry, 2007). In earlier
times, the dead were buried just beyond the city limits, areas paved over as the city expanded, which
means that it is impossible to walk through Savannah without walking on graves (Gentry, 2007, p.

The Role of the Supernatural in the Play Macbeth Essay
The Role of the Supernatural in the Play Macbeth
Fair is foul and foul is fair such a well known line from the play Macbeth, with such power behind the
words. I have reason to believe that the role of the supernatural plays a very important part in
Shakespeare s play Macbeth, we can say that the supernatural occurs 4 times throughout the play that
we can call supernatural because they are physically unnatural things to be seen, e.g. the appearance of
Banquo s ghost, the prophecies and the air drawn dagger etc. But I have gone further into depth to find
that the supernatural isn t just physically noticeable but also mentally through hallucination etc. I have
many reasons to believe this because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because of the history of the witches at the time that Shakespeare had written the play. At the
time that the play was written, there was a strong belief in the existence of witches, anyone that was
seen to do things differently or better than anyone else they were accused of being a witch, and it was
very offensive to be accused of being one. This therefore is the reason why the supernatural is a
recurring theme in many of his plays. That is why the supernatural is seen in many varied forms such
as the floating dagger, the witches and many more. With Macbeth s entrance in the play, he has a
reaction to the witches the same that anyone in the audience would have had too. He is shocked to see
them, but also wants to listen to the words that the witches speak because they talk about what
Macbeth has always desired. This reaction too would have been what the audience would have had,
and this draws them into the play further, as if they can feel what Macbeth too is feeling. I feel that
with the power of the audience in the play as well as the story seems almost supernatural in a way
because of the power that it holds. I feel that Shakespeare would have wanted this effect because of
the great impact that the audience get from watching the play.

What Is The Nature Of A White Heron
Although A White Heron is such a short story it says so much about America and some of the ideals
that were held at the same time this was written/set, it embodies the purity and innocence of a new
America. The story is also a microcosm for nature and the drive for expansion; it only shows a sliver
of what is happening in the world but it still embodies those qualities. It encompasses not only the
beauty and hope that Sylvia discovers while searching for the white heron, but also the strength and
determination that she gains through saving the herons from the hunter. America is a beautiful and
hopeful nation, but it s also strong and determined to protect what is right and good. Sylvia at her core
is the epitome of America itself; young, adventurous, and full of spirit.
The tree seemed to lengthen itself out as she went up, and to reach farther and farther upward. It was
like a great main mast to the voyaging earth; it must truly have been amazed that morning through all
its ponderous frame as it felt this determined spark of human spirit winding its way from higher
branch to branch. The first line talks about a tree stretching itself out, growing. Which is what America
was doing. Like Sylvia and the tree, the country was growing, becoming its own being by expanding
westward and developing the Frontier. Next is the voyaging Earth. A voyage typically means a long
journey, a quest to find something new, like the West. Like how Sylvia takes a journey within

Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia/ Sesquipedalophobia. If that isn t a mouthful I don t know
what is. If you haven t been discouraged to know more this awful word has 35 letters in it. It comes

vocabulary or spelling bees during childhood and the difficulty to memorize or mentally process
multisyllabic words. It is suggested that perhaps people who have come to rely on modern technology

The Importance Of Swearing
As kids we are taught that swearing is bad, and not to use swear words. We are told that it is
inappropriate and tells people that you are uneducated or that you don t have an extensive vocabulary
because you chose a swear word instead of a more appropriate word . Children are shielded from just
another word in the dictionary because society has a negative connotation with swear words. As
children grow up, learn and use swear words they are reprimanded for being disrespectful or
inappropriate. There is too much of a social stigma around swearing that says that it is inappropriate,
should not be used often and shows lack of intelligence.

After finding this Dr. Jay said as fluency goes up, so does the ability to say swear words, not the other
way around. Since the people that generated the longest lists of words incorporated swear words, the
stigma that says swearing shows you have a poor vocabulary is proven wrong. When someone has
more words to use, more words can be generated. This proves the stigma around swearing is incorrect
because swearing shows that you have an extensive vocabulary instead of the limited vocabulary that
the stigmas says you have.
Swearing helps with both pain and stress tolerance. Richard Stephens, a senior lecturer in psychology
at Keele University, conducted an experiment to test if swearing increases pain tolerance. Stephens
asked subjects to come up with a list of words, including swears, they would yell out if their finger
was hit by a hammer. They were then asked to submerge their hand in ice water and repeat one word,
swear or normal. Subjects who repeated a swear word were able to keep their hand submerged for 50
percent longer than participants who repeated a normal word such as dog, for example. Participants
said repeating a swear word made the pain less intense. Researchers came to the conclusion that
swearing reduced both sensitivity and pain. The study also reported, swearing increases pain tolerance,
increased heart rate and decreased perceived pain compared with not swearing. This demonstrates the
fact that swearing is helpful in everyday life.

Aids Memorial Quilt Research Paper
The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt is a place for people to celebrates the lives of people who
have died for the causes that related to AIDS. It works as a commemoration for social and personally
expressive. During the 20 centuries, many people who died of AIDS related causes did not have
funerals since the surviving family members felt social imputation of AIDS, and many funeral homes
or cemeteries refused to accept the deceased s remains. This social phenomenon made AIDS activist,
Cleve Jones, have an idea for the AIDS Memorial Quilt. In the candlelight March in1985, Jones asked
people to write the names of their family members who were killed by the AIDS related causes on
signs. Then he was inspired by the signs that were taped on the San Francisco Federal Building. To
Jones, all the signs looked like a huge patchwork quilt. In 1987, Cleve Jones, Mike Smith, and
volunteers first started the NAMES project in San Francisco. The goal of the Quilt is to bring

Ethnographic Interview Essay
Ethnographic studies can give insight into the way that stereotypes are seen and perceived in the real
world. Audrey Shalinsky defines ethnographic fieldwork as a scientific and artistic approach to the
description and analysis of cultural systems (Shalinsky, 968). I chose to do the ethnographic interview
as I wanted to learn about someone else s experiences and hear a different point of view than my own.
I interviewed one of my Cambodian friends who asked if their name could be omitted for privacy
purposes. He and I met at a Starbucks so that I could conduct my interview in a relaxed setting where
my interviewee would feel comfortable and open to talk about his experiences as someone from
Southeast Asian descent. Throughout my interview, I asked him what stereotypes he has encountered
and what stereotype he himself projects onto others. He talked about how he goes about his day to day
life and how that causes him to be stereotyped in a certain way and the way that he makes assumptions
about others based on their lifestyles and appearances. I wanted to mainly focus on the ways that he
has been racially stereotyped, but I also wanted to be able to analyze any other stereotypes that people
may have developed towards him. Also, I asked him how other people stereotyping him affect him
and why he thinks that other people create and use stereotypes to define people that they do not know.
Michael Pickering defines stereotyping as gain and loss and can change the social

Analysis Of Somaliland Announced s Secession From Somalia...
Somaliland announced its secession from Somalia in 1991 and has operated as a more or less
independent country ever since. It has its own president, parliament and constitution. It even boasts a
central bank that prints its own currency, the Somaliland shilling. The peaceful existence of its three
million mostly Muslim, but secular, residents contrasts sharply with the disorder and instability of
Somalia. The world, however, has refused to recognize Somaliland. Reluctant to encourage other
separatist movements, the West remains committed to supporting the embattled Transitional Federal
Government in Somalia, which opposes its separation.
Now let me talk about the Economy in Somaliland even though Somaliland is not totally independent
country and still share a lot with Somalia when it comes to economy. In this paper I will concentrate
four aspects that s makes Somaliland economy weak or low.
Certification
Somaliland government does not have the capacity to participate in certification schemes or to provide
authenticity documentation that would enable businesses to sell goods globally. Firms instead have to
find unconventional, and often costly, workarounds. Although sesame seeds are grown in large
quantities in Somaliland in 2012 the country was the 12th largest producer in the world exporting

This means that the government of Somaliland loses money, because if the

The American Of Revolt Against Great Britain
There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but some
of the more major causes of the American revolution were the banning of arms , the very unpopular
Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea Port Acts. Another unpopular Act enforced on the
colonies, by His Majesty of Great Britain, was the now famous Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a set of
laws created by the King and parliament, saying that the American colonists had to pay more taxes
than the people in Great Britain were paying, as a way to pay off the cost of the Seven Years War. This
Act was upsetting to the colonists because they didn t get the chance to have a say in wether or not
they were okay with/wanted such large taxes being imposed upon them. This can be seen in Document
A, when the colonists wrote in a letter to the king that it is inseparably essential to the freedom of a
people, and the undoubted right of Englishmen, that no taxes be imposed on them, but with their own
consent, given personally, or by their representatives. This quote shows that the colonists did not agree
with the taxation, or at least not without them being represented in Great Britain. The King placing all
of these taxes on the American colonies made them feel as if they were not being treated as actual
Englishmen, but rather as the outcasts and criminals that no one else wanted. This is evident in the
letter written to the King, when the colonies say that His Majesty s

Crime Problem In The United States
Crime is a major problem in the United States. It is happening to often than it should. Everyday there
is always a crime story taking place in the news or in the daily newspaper. It is difficult for individuals
to not be drawn to negativity happening in their community. There are many different ideas on how to
solve the crime problems that are happening in our country. First we need to have stricter punishment
and stick to it for all criminals. Many of the criminals are getting off with little to no punishment,
which sometimes they become repeat offenders. With some criminals having good behavior while
serving time, the justice system are allowing them be released early from confinement and out on
parole. This is unacceptable. If they committed

Social Security Privatization and Its Impact on Society Essay
Social Security Privatization and its Impact on Society
II. Introduction
Each day that goes by there is a politician or journalist arguing about social security, the plans for
saving it, and the repercussions of said plans. These topics are constantly flowing through newspapers,
internet sites, online journals, and economic journals as well as many other forms of media. The major
topic of discussion is the plan put forth by the current administration to reform social security, or more
specifically, privatize it. There is no correct argument or correct opinion on how the situation with
social security should be handled. Unfortunately, the government has the power in their hands to do
with it as they see fit. Presented in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, it focuses entirely on the benefit distribution of Social Security. It is evident that an
overwhelming amount of African American males die before they reach the age set forth by the
government to receive Social Security disbursement, yet are still required to pay in the same amount
as every other hard working American. When the Social Security act of 1935 was passed, sixty to
seventy percent of African Americans were excluded from receiving benefits based on occupation
alone. The occupations excluded were the ones in which women and African Americans were most
likely to work, such as education, government, agriculture, domestic service and charitable nonprofit
institutions. It is understandable as to why the Social Security act was built this way. President
Roosevelt faced a solid block of white southern congressman who refused to support any social
security legislation that included blacks. What is amazing is that no subsequent amendments to these
laws have done anything to change this. According to present and past census data, the African
American male is actually underwriting the white American male. Just as in slavery, the African
American male provides much of the base of support for white Americans during their retirement
years. Low income wage earners tend to pay a larger proportion of their income to social security and
other taxes. According to 2000 census data, there is a life expectancy difference of 6.8 years between

Naturalism Research Paper
According to (Naturalism.Org, 2017), the definition of naturalism in terms of art and literature is
defined as a style and theory of a type of representation based on the accurate depiction of detail.
However, whereas, in a philosophical viewpoint, it is considered to be everything that arises from
natural properties and causes, as well as supernatural or spiritual explanations that are excluded or
discounted. Furthermore in moral philosophy, it is the theory that ethical statements can be derived
from non ethical ones. Lastly, it can simply be defined as another term for natural religion.

In terms of philosophical naturalism, the belief is that there are not any supernatural entities. No such

contemporary evolutionary theories are different ideas, and despite the fact that the latter is normally
thought to be one of the main pillars supporting the group of the former as each progressed. I see no
similar problems with the conjunction of theism and the idea that human beings have evolved in the
way contemporary evolutionary science suggests of a course of time. More particularly, I argued that
the conjunction of naturalism with the belief that we human beings have evolved in conformity with
current evolutionary doctrine. Meaning god caused evolution to take place. Personally I have a hard

Persuasive Essay On Fentanyl
Once more, the lives of Canadians are being claimed by addiction and overdose of a new drug in the
streets. For those of you who don t know what fentanyl is, it s a powerful opioid, 100 times stronger
than morphine, that is often prescribed to help patients manage moderate to severe pain. As a highly
addictive substance, many are now dependent on it, and it is one of the most frequent causes of drug
overdose. Readily available for purchase online are quantities of pure fentanyl from China, but when
improperly diluted in clandestine labs, it can lead to an immediate overdose. Recently, an antidote for
opioid overdose called naloxone has become available without prescription, so that anyone can use it.
Fentanyl has become a severe problem in the past few years, and while we yet to find a way to
eliminate dependence on this drug, we must keep those who use it safe.
Developed in 1959 by a Belgian chemist, Fentanyl came into widespread use in the mid 1990s as a
painkiller and anesthetic. With the widespread availability of this drug as a common prescription, it s
not difficult to understand how easy it is to become dependant on. Here begins the problem, for once
their prescriptions run out, people need to buy drugs off the street to feed their addictions. Now,
buying drugs off the street can be incredibly dangerous, as drugs produced in illegal labs without a
way to control dosage can be deadly. This is an especially big issue with fentanyl, because of its

big trip for the week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I tend to have more time these days to drive, shop
and unload and I don t like feeling rushed during a trip. I always make a list of all the items I need
before hand, which means I take inventory of our fridge, freezer and pantry. Every couple weeks I like
to mix things up, so I ll dive into my Trader Joe s Cookbook or Cravings Cookbook and pick a new
recipe or 2 to try. Once I m in the store, I like to shop the perimeter of the store first. Fruit, veggies,
meat and all the good food that fuels your body is normally stored here. By grabbing the good stuff
first, when I see the pint of frozen ice cream, and look down to a cart already packed, I am more likely
to opt out. I only eat out 1 4 meals a week, and it is usually lunch or dinner on the weekend, so making
sure I have wholesome food is important for a healthy diet. unnamedAlthough my grocery list changes

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning by Allan Sillitoe
Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is a novel following the rebellious life of twenty two year old
Arthur Seaton. Arthur spends his weekdays working at a bicycle factory and relaxes on weekends with
plenty of drinks while in the company of various lady friends. The novel was written by Alan Sillitoe
who came to be known as one of the angry young men. This group of writers was a dominant literary
force during the 1950s and was immensely popular due to their accurate portrayal of postwar Britain
and the working class. The angry young men produced a number of books (amongst other things)
expressing their contempt with the class system, postwar welfare state and the lack of class change

The frustration of not being able to climb any higher then the class born into is evident within Sillitoe
s novel. The very title of the book gives readers an insight into the life of a factory worker. Saturday
night is a metaphor for the youthful times in life, when one went to work to earn money to have more
then a few drinks on the weekend and were spirited in their rebellious fight against the government;
whereas Sunday morning is the acceptance of their destiny, and a symbol of conformity. Stilltoe
provides reader s a look into this metaphor right from the very beginning, when Arthur states it was
Saturday night, the best and bingiest glad time of the week, one of the fifty two holidays in the slow
turning Big wheel of the year, a violent preamble to a prostrate Sabbath. The reader is not aware of the
double meaning of this sentence until the end when Arthur appears to be reformed of his cheating
rebellious ways and begins planning a wedding and future with Doreen. Saturday Night and Sunday
Morning reveals almost nothing about the upper classes. Arthur only refers to this class with words
such as: them, those chaps and blokes with suits and bowler hats. The novel implies the working class
labours away during the week and relaxes on the weekend. This shows a clear divide amongst the
classes and how there is no inter class mingling. Saturday Night and Sunday

Behavior Modification Plan For Ourselves
When I first learned that we were doing a behavior modification plan for ourselves I did not know
what to think. After having it explained to me I knew that it had to be something related to my stress
and anxiety levels. My entire life it has been something that has hindered me from getting outside of
my comfort zone to better myself. So I started from there and had to figure out a way to measure my
stresses in numbers. I wasn t sure how I was supposed to mathematically lay out what gives me stress.
Our awesome teacher then asked me what it was that I did to relieve stress. I told her that I like guns
and going to the shooting range. From there I was off and running. My goal was to go to the shooting
range to help manage my stress levels. My first sub goal was to schedule times twice a week to go to
the range. I decided that I would go on Tuesdays and Fridays after work. I researched local shooting
ranges in my area and determined that Fletcher Arms in Waukesha was the best bet for me based on
price and location. Another sub goal that I gave myself was to find all my information by September
10, 2015 which I was able to accomplish. That was easy to accomplish but not all of my planning paid
off for me at first. There were a couple of issues that I ran into during the semester that were not
significant; but they were things that I needed to figure out in order to be successful. When road

advantages that DIMCO can gain by implementing supply chain management. DIMCO may gain
many advantages by implementing supply management chain. Implementing SCM can reduce
problems within the company s internal functions, external suppliers, and external distributors. Some
advantages DIMCO can gain from implementing SCM are as follows; the supply chain would
improve the quality of service to the end user; reduce channel cost; and create a competitive
advantage. (Reid Sanders, 2010) The implementations of SCM will strengthen DIMCO partnership
with suppliers and distributors. Supply chain management can also prevent such challenges such as
the bullwhip effect, caused by erratic replenishment of orders placed on different levels in the supply
chain that have no apparent link to final product demand. (Reid Sanders, 2010) An effective and
efficient SCM will allow partners to share information concerning health, safety, government
regulations and environmental issues. SCM will provide a common network for communications,
suggestions, and feedback. This will assist DIMCO in meeting the need of customers quickly and in

Nt1110 Memory Lab Report
In computer organization and architecture, memory is the most important part of a computer. Every
computer must have its own memory. Memory represents two stable or semi stable states that are
representing 1 and 0. It is capable of being written to at least once and read multiple times. In this lab,
we will learn briefly on two parts of memory only, which are RAM and ROM. As we know that a
memory can either be non volatile (as seen in a read only memory) or volatile (used in random access

There are several types of semiconductor memory, such as Random Access Memory (RAM), Read

ROM is a form of semiconductor that can be written to. It was used to store the programs called
firmware that a computer executes when switched on. ROM is still used in systems with constant
functionalities. PROM is similar to ROM but allows the users to write their own programs and data.
However, it needs a special PROM writing equipment. For EPROM, we can erase the data of the chips
and rewrite with new information. It is normally used to store the boot program of a computer

bytes whereas EPROM updates the whole memory. FLASH memory is a cheaper type of EEPROM
where updates can only be carried out on the blocks of memory but not on individual bytes. It is found
in USB sticks, flash cards and typically range from 1 GB to 32

Differences In Living A Conventional Life In Housekeeping...
There are two primary classifications of lives one can live: conventionalists and drifters. Most
Americans fall into the conventional way of living. In Marilynne Robinson s novel Housekeeping,
Robinson uses the different character development to contrast differences in living a conventional
lifestyle versus living an eccentric lifestyle as a drifter , such as events like when the sisters first meet
Sylvie and when Lucille leaves to go live with Miss Royce.
Soon after Ruth and Lucille were born, there father abandoned them. While living with their mother in
Seattle, Bernice, their neighbor below them in their apartment, looked after them, even though Helen
was perfectly able to. A few years after the abandonment, Helen, Ruth and Lucille s mother, drops the
girls off at Sylvia, the girl s grandmother s house, then drives off cliff into a lake and drowns. Sylvia
takes care of Lucille and Ruth for five years until she passes away from an unknown illness. When
Grandmother Sylvia dies, Lily and Nona, Sylvia s unmarried sisters, take care of the girls for a while,
then quickly fetch for Aunt Sylvie, who takes care of the girls for the duration of the rest of their
adolescent years.
First, Lucille and Ruth immediately recognizes Sylvie s transience. We had planned to try Sylvie, but
perhaps because Sylvie had her coat on and appeared so very transient, Lucille did not wait till we
knew her better, as we had agreed to do (Robinson 55). Typically, people have their coat on when

Essay On How Did The British Rule Of 1763
There were several major disagreements between the American colonists and British rule between
1763 and the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The British, along with the colonists, had won a
costly war against the French and their Indian allies. It was during this time that England s views of
the New World had started to shift. Rather than focusing on the trade opportunities, more and more
policymakers concerned themselves with the land expansion of the British colonies. The British also
felt that the Americans were the primary beneficiaries of the war, and should help pay for the debt.
American colonists up until this point had been governed very loosely by Parliament and were not

The Proclamation of 1763 was put in place to control and slow the westward expansion of the land
hungry American colonists. The British thought that a slow and limited westward expansion would
reduce the clashes with the Indians and also prevent migration away from the heavily invested eastern
seaboard. A demarcation line along the Appalachian Mountains was negotiated, somewhat
begrudgingly, with the Indians of the region. The Proclamation of 1763 was almost wholly ignored by
the colonists who continued to push west in search of new land. One of the biggest issues for the
British was the mounting debt incurred during the French and Indian war, along with the maintenance
of British troops garrisoned along the border of the Indian lands. The British made several attempts to
recoup monies from the Americans, the Stamp Act, the Townshend Duties, and the Tea Act were
among the most troublesome. The Stamp Act prohibited the Americans from producing and using their

Kellogg s Case Study
Question One:
There are three key sectors of the supply chain, namely; primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. The
former encompasses all processes and activities geared towards transforming natural resources into
primary products which are then to be used in manufacturing finished products (Choi, 2011). For
instance, the forestry industry falls under the primary sector bearing in mind the fact that it focuses on
transforming a natural resource, i.e. trees, into a primary product (timber).
On the other hand, the secondary sector is concerned with transforming the primary products
generated from the primary sector into finished products. For instance, Kellogg s is a ... Show more

This gives a candid explanation as to why Kellogg s entered into an agreement with Tesco meant to
allow its products to continue being displayed in the latter s stores. Kellogg s collaboration with
tertiary sector entities can also be attributed to its allure in ensuring it continues to purport successful
business activities. For instance, maintaining good relationships with banks makes it possible for the
entity to acquire additional funds to finance its operations or investment activities (Leeman, 2010).
Question Four: The major benefit that can be realized from the decision of large manufactures like
Kellogg s to outsource some its activities to specialist companies like TDG is that of making the
former s supply chain and distribution channels to become more efficient. The achievement of this
objective is usually facilitated through the emphasis of these specialist entities to employ
computerized systems while purporting stock handling and logistic functions for their clients, with this
enhancing the timely and cost efficient delivery of stock in the larger manufacturers retail stores
(Choi, 2011). Moreover, these specialists assist larger firms such as Kellogg s to minimize the
wastages which normally occur within their supply chains, more so through streamlining their
transportation, distribution and storage systems (Leeman,

However, differentiation is very important in helping children to become motivated and reach their
potential (Pollard, 2000) as children feel both sufficiently challenged yet are still able to complete the
work set. Although this view is currently being questioned within current reports as a new set of
pedagogy comes into place in some schools within mathematics entitled mastery, suggesting that
differentiation is becoming obsolete in mathematics for those who follow this program, as it suggests
the whole class to learn the same content at the same rate (NCETM, 2015).
The first lesson highlighted is a mathematics lesson taught within a streamed class, the lesson
revolved around perimeter (appendix 2). Differentiation within this lesson was a weak area, although
it was attempted. The dominant use of differentiation within this lesson was through choice, as shown
in the mathematics plan (appendix 2) children were given a choice of two activities. They were able to
choose which activity they felt they could do. This was inspired by research stating, If students are
given choice, they challenge themselves more than teachers do (TES, 2012) this suggests that a higher
level of challenge may be created for some children who were perhaps usually given the average
ability group work could now challenge themselves if they felt confident. However, in practise many
capable children were choosing to do the easier activity, the challenge created failed to motivate them,

Thematic Transformation In Pixar s Up
Thematic Transformation in Up Released on May 29, 2009, Pixar s Up made its debut onto the big

development of multiple new adventures, despite the positive and negative circumstances, take place

Giacchino created a musical arrangement that, for the most part, would mold itself in order to suit the

Desire May Lead To Destruction In A Streetcar Named Desire
Desire May Lead to Destruction In the play Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows
Blanche as a symbol of a Southern lady, the pinnacle of a civilization. In the forties, upper class
southern women s expectations were based on a Victorian model of a woman. The perception was that
women did not express their sexuality and wore clothing that did not expose any body parts. Also,
women did not have many roles except for a housewife, and two appropriate jobs as a teacher or a
nurse. Blanche is an English teacher from a Mississippi. She was raised in a wealthy family and got a
great education. At sixteen years old, she fell deeply in love with a boy named Allan Gray (Williams
1857). Their marriage served as different grounds for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right away, he told his wife and Mitch about it. While Blanche was taking a bath she was singing, But
it wouldn t be make believe if you believe in me ( Williams 1861). Blanche knows that she lied to
Mitch and kept the truth from her sister. Thus, the lyrics she was singing show that she lives in her
world of illusions. That day, she was expecting Mitch to come over to celebrate her birthday.
However, he did not show up. At a table, Stanley gave Blanche a ticket back to Laurel as a gift,
knowing that she can not go back there. Stella was upset about it because she knew that it will ruin her
tender and trusting sister (Williams 1865). According to Encyclopedia Britannica, psychotic behavior
can come and go as a result of various influences. The effects of some drugs can cause psychotic
episodes, or a traumatic situation that affects a person s psychological well being might trigger the
episode of neurosis ( Neurosis ). Blanche feels like her future is slipping away from her and becomes
highly neurotic. In her head, she hears the same polka tune, the Varsouviana , (after which Allen shot
himself) and she started to drink to escape the reality (Williams 1866). The Same night when Mitch
came to confront her, she admits to him about intimacies and school expulsion. When he said that she
told him all lies, in return she said, Never inside, I didn t lie in my heart and I don t want realism. I
want magic! (Williams 1869). Maybe in her mind she was still married to Allen. At the very last, it
gives Blanche a credit for her honesty. Nothing in the play justifies the condemnation of her. Yet,
nothing justifies her innocence either after her husband s death (Thomieres

  • 2. What Is An Employee s Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy 1. What is an employee s reasonable expectation of privacy? An employee s privacy rights in the workplace come down to the word Reasonable . The employee s rights in the workplace are very different than it is in their personal lives. An employee cannot expect the workplace to be private, nor their electronic communications to be private as well. Within the workplace, employers have the right to reduce liabilities within the scope of the law to which they must adhere. For example, employers have the right to ensure that email communication is being used for work related purposes (Gidin, 1999). Federal laws provide employers the right to monitor communications, retain records, and conduct surveillance given that they provide proper notification ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Life Changed My Character The event that permanently changed my character happened as I was on a life changing trip to Africa. For some background information, I learned about the trip a year before and was immediately ecstatic. At first it was just going to be me with some family friends journeying to Africa. With the personality God gave me, I was probably even more excited with the aspect of being basically on my own. Ever since I could read and fully utilize my imagination, the unsocial life of living in the abundant fantasy worlds that authors and producers have created throughout the century has always been a solid thing to fallback on whenever an escape is needed. Also, the sense of being utterly detached from my old life entirely was another huge factor in the building of my anticipation. However, my dad got his schedule rearranged and thus an unforgettable father son trip was born. If anyone were to ruin my alone time and me be happy, the one person would have to be my father. The flights were going to be long and awful if it was not for a good book that I picked up in an airport bookstore. I do not possess the ability to sleep well on planes. Therefore, a long and enthralling book was perfect for me. Before I knew it the plane landed in Kigali, Rwanda. My corrupted American view of Rwanda immediately vanished once I saw a beautiful city on top of an even more beautiful plateau. The hotel car drivers were polite and informative. They were also full of some great stories, but alas the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Science In The 1600s Thought history scientists finding have been ignored, only to be discovered that their information was beneficial. In the 1600s and 1700s, many astronomers and mechanics were focused on finding a way to find the longitude of a ship s position at sea. John Harrison, a self taught carpenter and clockmaker was able to create a solution, but no one with enough power to enforce his studies would listen to his ideas. Similar to this, when Nicolaus Copernicus discovered that the earth revolved around the sun, no one believed him because the belief at the time was that the earth was the center of the universe. Despite no one appreciating what the two had discovered, several years after they had died, their theories surfaced again and people began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the two men worked in different fields of science. John Harrison worked in geography and Copernicus worked in astronomy. Geography is the study of land and the relationships between the land and the communities living in the area. If one studies geography, they also study the physical properties of the land and how the people and animals use the land. Astronomy is the study of astronomic objects, space and the physical universe. Besides this difference, Harrison had an immediate successor to continue pressing the ideas of using clocks to solve the longitude issue. Copernicus, on the other hand, had no one to help him continue his work once he had died; no one wanted to be associated with his work because the Church had renounced it. Both men faced struggles during their scientific career, but Harrison s work was able to continue to grow while Copernicus s work came to a halt for several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Yellow Wallpaper Essay One additional reading of the color of the wallpaper is that it promotes a counter intuitive reading. The color yellow is normally associated with happiness and light; in this case, it is linked to a malignant source that drives the narrator insane. Because the reader expects the color yellow to be benevolent and is disappointed, the reader is also forced to question everything else in the novel, especially those things that seem to be obvious. The yellow wallpaper itself is presented as a symbol of creativity. With its endless swirls and ornaments, the wallpaper does not follow any set pattern; in fact, it is this lack of organization and structure that preoccupies the narrator to such an extent. From The Late Eighteenth To The Mid Twentieth Century, From the late eighteenth to the mid twentieth century, European countries predominantly England and France oversaw the expansion and collapse of their empires, during which time they had come to understand their Eastern colonies through the lens of Orientalism. A term coined by the literary critic Edward Said in 1978, Orientalism refers to the project through which Western artists and intellectuals fabricated an image of the Orient an area stretching between India and the Bible Lands in order to legitimise their control over it. This project characterised the East as an inferior, post civilised realm, where order had been displaced by as Said writes an Oriental backwardness. However, by the end of the nineteenth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having grown out of the post war Dada movement, Surrealism emerged in the early 1920s, formed by a group of artists who aimed to challenge the bourgeois values that they saw as being responsible for World War I. As Archer Straw writes, It is through this departure from redundant aspects of Western culture that these avant garde figures became enamoured with Africa; however, it is apparent that this obsession raised many problems. One example of Man Ray s work that reveals an interest in negrophilia is his Portrait of Nancy Cunard, created in 1926 (Figure 1). In this photograph, Cunard a socialite and ardent negrophile is captured wearing thick ivory bangles , a leopard print dress, and dark kohl eye makeup, details which reveal a predilection for African forms. By adopting this appearance, Cunard becomes a pseudo exotic personality, expressing both her and Man Ray s desire to separate themselves from Europe through racial otherness . However, although they attempt to achieve this they appear unsuccessful in doing so, as this portrait merely suggests racial difference, a quality that figures like Cunard could exploit to further their reputation in the West. Moreover, while the avant garde praised such images for supposedly championing equality between black and white people, Archer Straw correctly identifies them as regressive, as they perpetuate the myth that black culture can be understood ... His answer is, We must give them only such aid as is within our powers; second, only as much as the man we love and wish to help can himself sustain (Cicero 77). Cicero definitely believes we should get involved with our friend s issues but to a certain extent. As long as we can handle the amount of aid given and they can sustain the amount given. Cicero does not believe friends should help with every little issue but he would say that they should help with the larger issues that we cannot handle ourselves. Cicero would also disagree with the point, turn a deaf ear to slander . Again, Cicero seems to be very confrontational. In Cicero s view, he talks about flattery as a kind of slander. He is definitely against the use of flattery, but he does not believe it should be ignored. He states in section 89, We may admonish, but we must not scold; we may reprimand, but we must not humiliate (Cicero 84). For the next two years, Rommel s forces fought across the North African desert against British forces led by Generals Archibald Wavell, Claude Auchinleck, and Bernard Montgomery. The American Of Revolt Against Great Britain There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but some of the more major causes of the American revolution were the banning of arms , the very unpopular Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea Port Acts. Another unpopular Act enforced on the colonies, by His Majesty of Great Britain, was the now famous Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a set of laws created by the King and parliament, saying that the American colonists had to pay more taxes than the people in Great Britain were paying, as a way to pay off the cost of the Seven Years War. This Act was upsetting to the colonists because they didn t get the chance to have a say in wether or not they were okay with/wanted such large taxes being imposed upon them. This can be seen in Document A, when the colonists wrote in a letter to the king that it is inseparably essential to the freedom of a people, and the undoubted right of Englishmen, that no taxes be imposed on them, but with their own consent, given personally, or by their representatives. This quote shows that the colonists did not agree with the taxation, or at least not without them being represented in Great Britain. According to present and past census data, the African American male is actually underwriting the white American male. Just as in slavery, the African American male provides much of the base of support for white Americans during their retirement years. Low income wage earners tend to pay a larger proportion of their income to social security and other taxes. Naturalism Research Paper According to (Naturalism.Org, 2017), the definition of naturalism in terms of art and literature is defined as a style and theory of a type of representation based on the accurate depiction of detail. However, whereas, in a philosophical viewpoint, it is considered to be everything that arises from natural properties and causes, as well as supernatural or spiritual explanations that are excluded or discounted. Furthermore in moral philosophy, it is the theory that ethical statements can be derived from non ethical ones. Lastly, it can simply be defined as another term for natural religion. It is my opinion that naturalism and contemporary evolutionary theories are different ideas, and despite the fact that the latter is normally thought to be one of the main pillars supporting the group of the former as each progressed. • 29. Persuasive Essay On Fentanyl Once more, the lives of Canadians are being claimed by addiction and overdose of a new drug in the streets. For those of you who don t know what fentanyl is, it s a powerful opioid, 100 times stronger than morphine, that is often prescribed to help patients manage moderate to severe pain. As a highly addictive substance, many are now dependent on it, and it is one of the most frequent causes of drug overdose. Readily available for purchase online are quantities of pure fentanyl from China, but when improperly diluted in clandestine labs, it can lead to an immediate overdose. Recently, an antidote for opioid overdose called naloxone has become available without prescription, so that anyone can use it. Fentanyl has become a severe problem in the past few years, and while we yet to find a way to eliminate dependence on this drug, we must keep those who use it safe. Developed in 1959 by a Belgian chemist, Fentanyl came into widespread use in the mid 1990s as a painkiller and anesthetic. With the widespread availability of this drug as a common prescription, it s not difficult to understand how easy it is to become dependant on. Here begins the problem, for once their prescriptions run out, people need to buy drugs off the street to feed their addictions. Now, buying drugs off the street can be incredibly dangerous, as drugs produced in illegal labs without a way to control dosage can be deadly. My obsession with Trader Joe s might seem pretty apparent here by now. A reader asked me what I buy on a weekly basis at the store, and I thought it would be a good post to share with you. A little bit more about my grocery shopping habit before we get started.... I like to do a big trip for the week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I tend to have more time these days to drive, shop and unload and I don t like feeling rushed during a trip. I always make a list of all the items I need before hand, which means I take inventory of our fridge, freezer and pantry. Every couple weeks I like to mix things up, so I ll dive into my Trader Joe s Cookbook or Cravings Cookbook and pick a new recipe or 2 to try. Once I m in the store, I like to shop the perimeter of the store first. Fruit, veggies, meat and all the good food that fuels your body is normally stored here. By grabbing the good stuff first, when I see the pint of frozen ice cream, and look down to a cart already packed, I am more likely to opt out. • 31. Saturday Night and Sunday Morning by Allan Sillitoe Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is a novel following the rebellious life of twenty two year old Arthur Seaton. Arthur spends his weekdays working at a bicycle factory and relaxes on weekends with plenty of drinks while in the company of various lady friends. The novel was written by Alan Sillitoe who came to be known as one of the angry young men. This group of writers was a dominant literary force during the 1950s and was immensely popular due to their accurate portrayal of postwar Britain and the working class. The angry young men produced a number of books (amongst other things) expressing their contempt with the class system, postwar welfare state and the lack of class change post war, the disdain of these issues are very prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The frustration of not being able to climb any higher then the class born into is evident within Sillitoe s novel. The very title of the book gives readers an insight into the life of a factory worker. Saturday night is a metaphor for the youthful times in life, when one went to work to earn money to have more then a few drinks on the weekend and were spirited in their rebellious fight against the government; whereas Sunday morning is the acceptance of their destiny, and a symbol of conformity. Stilltoe provides reader s a look into this metaphor right from the very beginning, when Arthur states it was Saturday night, the best and bingiest glad time of the week, one of the fifty two holidays in the slow turning Big wheel of the year, a violent preamble to a prostrate Sabbath. The reader is not aware of the double meaning of this sentence until the end when Arthur appears to be reformed of his cheating rebellious ways and begins planning a wedding and future with Doreen. Saturday Night and Sunday Morning reveals almost nothing about the upper classes. Arthur only refers to this class with words such as: them, those chaps and blokes with suits and bowler hats. The novel implies the working class labours away during the week and relaxes on the weekend. This shows a clear divide amongst the classes and how there is no inter class mingling. Our awesome teacher then asked me what it was that I did to relieve stress. I told her that I like guns and going to the shooting range. From there I was off and running. My goal was to go to the shooting range to help manage my stress levels. My first sub goal was to schedule times twice a week to go to the range. Most Americans fall into the conventional way of living. In Marilynne Robinson s novel Housekeeping, Robinson uses the different character development to contrast differences in living a conventional lifestyle versus living an eccentric lifestyle as a drifter , such as events like when the sisters first meet Sylvie and when Lucille leaves to go live with Miss Royce. Soon after Ruth and Lucille were born, there father abandoned them. While living with their mother in Seattle, Bernice, their neighbor below them in their apartment, looked after them, even though Helen was perfectly able to. A few years after the abandonment, Helen, Ruth and Lucille s mother, drops the girls off at Sylvia, the girl s grandmother s house, then drives off cliff into a lake and drowns. The British, along with the colonists, had won a costly war against the French and their Indian allies. It was during this time that England s views of the New World had started to shift. Rather than focusing on the trade opportunities, more and more policymakers concerned themselves with the land expansion of the British colonies. The Proclamation of 1763 was almost wholly ignored by the colonists who continued to push west in search of new land. One of the biggest issues for the British was the mounting debt incurred during the French and Indian war, along with the maintenance of British troops garrisoned along the border of the Indian lands. The British made several attempts to recoup monies from the Americans, the Stamp Act, the Townshend Duties, and the Tea Act were among the most troublesome. For instance, the forestry industry falls under the primary sector bearing in mind the fact that it focuses on transforming a natural resource, i.e. trees, into a primary product (timber). Question Four: The major benefit that can be realized from the decision of large manufactures like Kellogg s to outsource some its activities to specialist companies like TDG is that of making the former s supply chain and distribution channels to become more efficient. The achievement of this objective is usually facilitated through the emphasis of these specialist entities to employ computerized systems while purporting stock handling and logistic functions for their clients, with this enhancing the timely and cost efficient delivery of stock in the larger manufacturers retail stores (Choi, 2011).
