Both of the main characters fit into stereotypes but in many aspects also break these stereotypes.
Naruto fits the stereotype of a young boy in the fact that he is a trouble making and is out
seeking adventure. He is very violent and breaks the stereotype of a young boy in the fact that
he is a ninja and that he has superpowers. Nakaba in Dawn of the Arcana is a young princess and
she fits that stereotype better than Naruto fits his stereotype of a boy. Nakaba has all things that
a stereotypical princess has, servants, guards, a castle and royal attire. But she still does break
the stereotype of a young princess in many ways. Most princess aren t forced to marry in order to
stop a war and Nakaba is much too violent to be a princess. Both of these characters can be related

Advantages Of Proactive Approach To Aviation
Benefits and Drawbacks of the Proactive, Reactive and Predictive Approaches to Aviation
Safety Management.
Aviation is a field where there are lots of real time challenges as the requirements are much more
stringent when compared to any other field except perhaps the medical science. There are very
few fields in the world today which cannot afford any failure in their operations due to high stakes
of human lives as in the case of aviation industry and intrinsic as in case of space shuttle programs.
The most important factor aviation industry is concerned about is the Safety . From the day Wright

and analyzing it. This approach is concerned with present analysis of the organizational processes.
Proactive approach is the best way to extenuate the errors and predict the hazards before occurrence.
There are many advantages of this approach than the disadvantages. The important components of
proactive approach are: Assessment of risk before each operational activity, developing a safety
management plan for a planned change, provides the risk report before the occurrence of event to

Ivy League College Selection
An analysis of Ivy League college selection processes among students reveals an alarming trend;
students are selecting college environments based solely upon the prestige of the institution
without regard to the application of their studies. For many people, their goal university would be
an Ivy League University. William Deresiewicz, once a Yale professor, wrote a book explaining
how Ivy LeagueUniversities are creating an unequal society amongst students. Mr. Deresiewicz was
once on the inside of the Ivy League institutions and now he is showing people what the Ivy League
institutions are really like from the inside establishing ethos through narratives regarding himself,
students, and society. First, Mr. Deresiewicz makes it known that many people do not realize that

Deresiewicz shows is once the student has chosen the highest level of college to attend then
they won t stray away from their path. I taught many wonderful young people during my years in
the Ivy League bright, thoughtful, creative kids whom it was a pleasure to talk with and learn
from. But most of them seemed content to color within the lines that their education had marked
out for them. Very few were passionate about ideas. Very few saw college as part of a larger
project of intellectual discovery and development. Everyone dressed as if they were ready to be
interviewed at a moment s notice (Deresiewicz 203).Mr. Deresiewicz included this section for
parents and students to see how the students acted at an Ivy League institution, they were only for
earning more money or a job and not seeing that there is much more than jobs and earning more
money in college. If he had not included this part many would not realize that students at the Ivy
League institutions act like that since it s so common nowadays. Mr. Deresiewicz used narratives

Diabetes Mellitus As A Chronic Metabolic Disorder Essay
Chapter 23
Diabetes
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that prevents the body to utilise glucose
completely or partially. It is characterised by raised glucose concentration in the blood and
alterations in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. This can be due to failure in the formation
of insulin or liberation or action. Since insulin is produced by the p cells of the islets of
Langerhans, any receding in the number of functioning cells will decrease the amount of insulin
that can be synthesised. Many diabetics can produce sufficient insulin but some stimulus to the
islets tissue is needed in order that secretion can take place. During the early stages of the
disease, the Insulin Like Activity (ILA) of the blood is often increased, but most of this insulin
appears to be bound to protein and is not available for transport across the cell membrane and
action of the cell. Globally, as of 2010, an estimated 285 million people had diabetes, with type 2
making up about 90% of the cases. In 2011 it resulted in 1.4 million deaths worldwide making it
the 8th leading cause of death. This is an increase from 1 million deaths in 2000. Its rate has
increased, and by 2030, this number is estimated to almost double. Diabetes mellitus occurs
throughout the world, but is more common (especially type 2) in more developed countries. The
greatest increase in rates is, however, expected to occur in Asia and Africa, where most people with
diabetes will

the most common joint disorder seen in humans, affecting 60% of adults 60 years of age and older.
Many studies have attempted to treat patients with DJD in a number of different ways including the
use of the drug glucosamine, glucosamine and alendronate. Hamid Reza Arti and Mohammad
Ebrahim Azemi undertook their own research in 2012 by comparing the effect of glucosamine and
glucosamine with alendronate in symptomatic relieve of degenerative kneejointdisease. They
believed that due to the high prevalence of osteoarthritis especially knee osteoarthritis identification
of effective treatment methods was an important factor in medical treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
According to Arti and Azemi (2012) no previous study had addressed these issues.
The nature of their study was a prospective double blind randomized clinical trial study. Double
blind studies are experiments designed to test the effect of a treatment or substance by using groups
of experimental and control subjects in which neither the subjects nor the investigators know which
treatment or substance is being administered to which group (Farlex Partner Medical Dictionary,

glucosamine and alendronate administration to treat knee osteoarthritis. Arti and Azemi aimed to

George Washington Carver Essay
George Washington Carver
George Washington Carver was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri during the spring of 1864 or
1865. Like many slaves, he was uncertain of his birth date. His mother, Mary, was a slave who
belonged to Moses and Susan Carver. As an infant, slave raiders kidnapped his mother. The
childless carvers reared George and his older brother, James.
Growing up, George was captivated by plants. Many neighbors referred to him as the Plant Doctor
. Since Carver was an African American, he was not accepted at any local schools, therefore he
had to attend school eight miles away from home. He did very well in school. In 1885 he was
accepted to Highland College in Kansas. However, race became an issue again and they took away

As well as creating the Farmers Institute, Carver also helped the farmers of Alabama and the
southern states a great deal. An insect called the boll weevil became an enormous threat to the
cotton fields of southern United States. Carver recommended to these farmers that they should
substitute their cotton crops with sweet potatoes and, the more successful recommendation,
peanuts. This switch would provide farmers another source of income and would also help to
prevent the spread of the insect. The one problem with this solution was that no one knew what to
do with all the peanut crops. Carver was quoted as saying: we can learn to synthesize materials for
every human need from the things that grow. So that is what he did. In total, Carver was able to
create close to three hundred different products from the peanut plant. These wide variety of
products include dyes, ink, insulation, cosmetics, stock feed, medicines, glue, soap, and peanut
milk. Although most of his products never became commercially sold, Carver became widely
known as the Peanut Man . He also created nearly one hundred uses for the sweet potato crops.
Even though George WashingtonCarver was well known throughout parts of the south, his real
rise to fame started in 1916. Carver was invited to join the Royal Society for the Arts. Shortly
afterward, the Carver Products Company was founded to market his many products. Carver was
also honored with the medal of the National

and poems for about 16 years, Anne and Emily created a poem called Gondal which they
published under a fake name; all the sister had fake pen names they would publish under their
poems and novels under. Emily went to publish Wurthering heights ,as Ellis bell, in December
1847. However, the book did not gain much popularity because readers were shocked and horrified
by the sheer violence of Emily s novel. (GS 1)
Sadly, in September 1848 Emily s brother had fell victim to drugs and alcohol after failing to
become a famous painter, around the same time Emily s illness had started. Strangely, Emily didn
t put any notice to her illness she continued to get up early every day to feed her numerous
animals even when she could barely walk. (GS 2) Her death came around December and Emily
resisted all help from doctors until just hours before her death. (Summers 1)
After, Emily s death Wurthering Heights then started to gain more attention by the readers, it then
became recognized as literary masterwork (Editor 1). Today, Wurthering heights is

Dissociative Identity Disorder And The Disorder
Disorder and TopicThe disorder I chose to research for my paper was Dissociative Identity
Disorder. Dissociative Identity Disorder is formerly known as multiple personality disorder and
is characterized as an individual presenting two or more alternate personalities. Those said
personalities are said to essentially help an individual escape the stress and overwhelming
struggles of everyday life (Traub, 2009). As for my topic I chose to explore was whether or not
Dissociative Identity Disordereven existed. The reason I chose to explore DID was the curiosity I
have always had over the disorder, because I feel that I have a sister that has a mild form of it
and it is something I always have struggled with understanding. My older sister I believe has a
mild for of the disorder, was indeed severely traumatized and sexually abused for years as a
child. After watching Sybil I do have a better understanding of what DID is and how childhood
trauma can definitely attribute to this disorder. So when choosing my topic of whether the
disorder even existed, I definitely wanted to explore why the disorder is still typically a debate of
existing or not and what has been researched on the disorder.
Articles
The three articles I chose to explore on DID all compare and contrasted the validity of existence
pertaining to the disorder. Thee first article compared its validity to what generally constitutes a
mental disorder, and its challenges. The second article surveyed psychologist

Is It Better To Grow Up In A Small Town Essay
Some believe it is better to grow up in a big city. However it is more beneficial to grow up in a
small town. Rural communities have a lot to offer. It offers numerous benefits to living in a bigger
community. For example, they have several job opportunities offered to the residents. There is less
conflict between each other because half of the people don t even know eachother. Therefore,
everyone is minding their business and keeping to themselves. The bigger the community you live
in the more money the cityprobably makes, for example, they offer a better education and provide
more options as what a student wants to pursue in after graduating high school. In my opinion there
are more sights to see when there are more places to experience and explore, therefore stating
why a big city is better to live in. In a more populated area, it expands the opportunities for jobs
in the community when there are more options to choose from. It s difficult to live in a
populated area, but it benefits almost everyone around you trying to make a living as well as
you are. Resulting in a huge reason why families move to bigger towns for job offers or
opportunities. As everyone knows businesses thrive better in cities, because they have more
people needing the opportunity to work for them. If the staff increases, the business will grow as
well. Businesses provide jobs for numerous people to help the company and provide for the
employees to receive what they needin daily living. The

A Brief Note On Guinea Worm Eradication ( Group 7 )
Postal 2: Guinea Worm Eradication (Group 7):
The condition for the commissioning setting was a supposed guinea worm outbreak that has
been reported in three Local Government Areas of Akoko town in Ondo State Nigeria by the
State s Ministry of Health among people aged 6 46 years. Their rationale was based on high
density of cases in Ise, Auga Okemole and Iboropa areas of Akoko local government areas, after
WHO had declared Nigeria free of the infection. Based on continuous surveillance and disease
notification, it seems guinea worm is a WHO s notifiable infectious disease, and Nigeria is a party
to it. According to WHO 2000), there is a need for immediate action whenever any WHO notifiable
diseases is spotted. Hence a stakeholders meeting was held with the locals, government officials and
community health workers for immediate Health Needs Assessment. The population profiling data
was from national surveys and hospital records.
Analysis of data was done, the case was prioritized, procurement done, and prompt intervention
followed with full participation of all necessary stakeholders. Effective Monitoring and Evaluation
would be carried out quarterly after implementation: this monitoring and evaluation will be done by
the commissioners themselves.
Strong Points:
Looking at the given scenario, a notifiable disease requires an immediate emergency response,
since there was a good rationale backing their action. The evidence was also strong as the report

Tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union in...
The Cold War was the name given to the time period from 1945 to 1991. After World War II,
tensions began between the United States and the Soviet Union. Fighting between the United States
and Soviet Union did not happen directly against each other. Instead they fought with arms races,
space races, and spying. Both superpowers set aside their differences to defeat Adolf Hitler, even
before the war the United States distrusted the Soviet Union. The United States disliked the way the
Soviet Union ran government. They believed that the Soviet Union wanted to overthrow the non
communist governments.
The Cold Warwas rising when a revolution in Russia occurred. One of the socialist majority
parties, the Bolsheviks overthrew the Czar, and it led to a communist government. The creation of
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) feared America that the Soviet Union challenged the
democratic values of the United States. President Woodrow Wilson saw that the Bolsheviks leader
Vladimir wanted to spread communism around the world. Wilson sent troops in 1919 to try to
defeat the revolutions.
Before World War II, Soviet troops occupied most of Eastern Europe. Stalin promised to hold free
elections in these Eastern European nations. Later he broke that promise. By 1948, Communists
controlled the governments of every Eastern country except Yugoslavia. In each country the Soviets
placed dictators.

World War Iwas the excuse Germany needed to advance these aims. Although Fischer s claim

The movie Still Alice takes place in New York and is about a very well known linguistics

well as get lost when she goes for a jog. At that point in time, Alice decides that she needs to see a

Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye
In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many
intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form
and order of cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the
cone cells are compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered
together but, are not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central
vision the vision is clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear
vision. When someone looks around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many
things, yet so much is going on in the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they
see to create a smooth movement. This makes the brainlook at it as a motion picture. The eyes see
three dimensional to notice every side of an object. This can result in two different types of
vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is produced from both eyes. The other type is
Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different angles of an image and gives it depth. All the
different forms and and visions in the eye can create a different perception for each individual. The

Review Of Crime And Punishment
In Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov is depicted as crushed by poverty, but the anxieties of his
position had of late ceased to weigh upon him (Dostoyevsky 3). During 1861, the Emancipation
Reform had recently taken place. The economy was suffering and the need for money became
crucial. The protagonist of the novel, Raskolnikov, struggles to earn money, which associates with
his behavior. Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the author of the novel, considers Raskolnikov a divided
character with different opinions. Raskolnikov displays characteristics of being delusional, self
centered, and confused, which makes his character intriguing. Throughout the course of Part One,
Raskolnikov has become delusional which contributes to his insanity. Over a course of time, he
lost his ability to think and function on a normal basis. In addition, Raskolnikov lost his ability to
control himself and has become impulsive. After the murder of the Pawnbroker and her sister,
Lizaveta, Raskolnikov evolves into paranoia. His thoughts have become irrational and erratic.
Raskolnikov has a conversation with himself where he mentions [h]e suddenly began to imagine
that the old woman is still alive and might actually come to. Abandoning keys and bureau, he ran
back to the body, seized the ax and lifted it once more over the old woman... (75). In this brief

government. Nehru s administration would not allow the plebiscite to be administered until all
Pakistani military forces left their territory in Kashmir, and the protection of Kashmir s people was
guaranteed. Addressing the Indian Congress, Nehru said, So long as the raiders, who have driven
out Kashmiris from their homes, remain in parts of Kashmir, the return of the refugees to those
areas cannot be expected. Till they return and settle down in their homes, how can you expect them
to express their free will? Nehru s argument was convincing to the leading... Show more content on

President Truman through Assistant Secretary of State George McGhee invited Liaquat to
America, and the ongoing Pakistani Soviet communication ceased. The Pakistani visit to
Washington D.C. was held in much higher regard than Nehru s visit by many newspapers such as
the New York Times. Liaquat explain to President Truman that Pakistandesired American
investment, and it would fully cooperate in the UN plebiscite. Though Liaquat did not publically
make requests for military support during his official visit, there is great evidence that shows he did
in private. On May 20, 1950, there was a large explosion at a harbor in South Amboy, New Jersey.
The explosion involved antitank and antipersonnel mines that the Pakistani Army had purchased
and were on route to Karachi, Pakistan. The growing relationship between the United States and
Pakistan was displayed when the Truman Administration requested that Pakistan join the UN
collation that was fighting in the Korean War, but Liaquat decided that his country could not afford
to dedicate their military resources to another conflict while they were constantly threated by the
Kashmir crisis. The Pakistani visit to America may have solidified Pakistani America relations, but
it led to the destruction to Indian American relations as the Indians suspected the United States was
supplying Pakistan with military equipment that could be used against

Dominance of the Ohio Valley Region Essay
Dominance of the Ohio Valley Region
The Ohio Valley Region was known as the American frontier during the time period from 1760 to
1813. The white expansion into the Ohio Valley Region brought about the decline and the eventual
dissolution of the Native American way of life. The struggles of the French and English in the north
and the westward push of American settlers in the south were met with unified pro nativist
resistance. The individual struggles of three men characterize the turmoil between whites and
Native Americans. Pontiac s war against the English, Tecumseh s organization of a unified Indian
Confederation, and Daniel Boone s leadership in the western migration into Kentucky demonstrate
the fight for control in the Ohio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In turn, the French protected the Indians and supplied them with guns, gunpowder, ammunition for
hunting, and with provisions during harsh winters (Hough, xii). This European influence had
radically changed the lives of the Great Lakes tribes. By the time of Pontiac s boyhood, the stone
and bone tools of his people had been replaced by steel axes, knives, and traps (Hough, viii).
In the 1740s, commercial competition between France and Great Britain had intensified, and war
broke out in 1744. Ottawa warriors fought on the side of the French, as they did in all four major
wars from 1689 1763 (Eckert, 127).
British forces under British Commander in chief Sir Jeffrey Amherst swept through the Great
Lakes region, seizing control of most of the French forts by 1760. Amherst was well known to be
arrogant and contemptuous of the Indians. He insisted that the good behavior of the natives should
be bought with fear.
Under British occupation, unrest grew among the tribes (Hough,xii0). Pontiac called a meeting
of Ottawa, Chippewa, Huron, Potawatomi and other Lake tribes. Pontiac was a powerful orator
as well as warrior, and possessed a keen intelligence and skill as a strategist. He spoke to the
council of the wrongs they had suffered under the British and spoke of the Master of Life and his
urging for the Indians to turn back to their old ways. The warriors

The Seventh Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan (2006) once said that Gender
equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing
poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance. However, despite this
and all of the actions done by the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) groups, gender
discrimination is still visible in our country especially in the sectors of employment, education and

Miss Pao Alcantara (personal communication, November 15, 2013), a member of the organization
of LGBT students from the University of the Philippines, told us through an interview that:
It is really difficult to be an LGBT individual in the Philippines. For one, it s really hard to come
out as an LGBT because of the fear that our families won t accept us, or people will judge us
because of our sexual orientation and gender identity. We also see discrimination everywhere, from
the companies not accepting transgender applicants, or firing employees who do homosexual
acts.... For now, it s really difficult. But I hope that it will change through time.
Recent studies reveal that more big companies abroad are now accepting LGBT in their
companies. Discrimination among these LGBT is diminishing in other countries. They can get
promoted and are given greater work responsibilities based on their abilities (Hewlett Sumberg,
2011). According to a 1996 Newsweek magazine poll cited by Fitch (1997), a majority of
American voters and even successful companies are conformed in the equality for gays and
lesbians in the workplace. Likewise, Human Rights Campaign studies revealed that more than 300
employers are also giving benefit to the LGBT employees and are supporting their groups.

The redistricting lines are to be done by the state. Mal apportionment is population inequality and
that is a violation of the 14th amendment of the US Constitution, the guarantee of equal protection
clause (CA, Redistricting). The purpose of redistricting is to review and redraw electoral districts
if needed in areas where population changes have occurred so that political power is equally
divided. Many types of elected bodies require redistricting, including state, county, municipal,
school, and special districts (CA, Redistricting). Different redistricting bodies have different rules
for what criteria, other than equal population, should be used to decide how and where lines are
drawn (CA, Redistricting). Texas has worked in more of a partisan fashion since Republicans
control the Texas legislature and this has caused questionable redistricting practices (McKee). In
order to comply with the constitution districts must contain approximately the same population
according to the Supreme Court. This is known as the constitutional slogan One Person One Vote ,
where each person vote counts the same. The districts are never completely equal and an allowance
of up to ten percent deviation between districts has never been objected by the courts (Brunell).

The Walking Dead Essay
The Walking Dead: Michonne is a choose your own , point n click adventure game presented as a
three part mini series developed and published by Telltale. It serves a side story featuring an
entirely different cast than the one found in Telltale s main Walking Dead series. It focuses on the
trials and tribulations of Michonne, a prominent character in both the graphic novel and in AMC s
tv series. Does The Walking Dead: Michonne stand up to scrutiny on its own, or does it feel like an
unnecessary detour from the main series?

utilizing the left stick, face buttons, and, in some instances, R2. Arrows displayed on the screen
indicate the direction you have to flick the stick, and pictograms of the face buttons inform which

MK Ultra was a project formed by the CIA as a mind control program ( Project MKULTRA,

marijuana and LSD ( Project MKULTRA, 2016). The reason for these tactics were to weaken
the individual so the agency could get a confession through mind control ( Id, 2016). Headed by
Dr. Sidney Gottlieb, MK Ultra was started officially on the order of CIA director Allen Welsh

against the Soviet bloc in response to the allegations that North Korea, China, and the Soviet Union

Although sometimes top officials at these institutions were aware of the CIA s involvement,

They also conducted business through other organizations by having subprojects ( Id, 2016).
These projects were the research that most did not know MK Ultra was driving ( Id, 2016).
Some of these subcontracts were also through colleges ( Id, 2016). Project MK Ultra was first
brought to public attention by anonymous tips ( Id, 2016). Because of those tips, in 1975 the
Church Committee of the U.S. Congress and Gerald Ford began to investigate CIA activities
within the United States ( Id, 2016). Investigative efforts were initially hampered by the fact that
CIA Director Richard Helms ordered all MK Ultra files destroyed in 1973; however, the Church

direct participants and on the relatively small number of documents that survived Helms

experiments today. Once Project MK Ultra officially got underway in April 1953, experiments

Pros And Cons Of The Transcontinental Railroad
The Transcontinental Railroad and the American Government System The Transcontinental
Railroad is a contiguous network of railroad track that crosses a continental landmass with
terminals at different oceans or continental borders. Construction began in 1863 and concluded in
1868; the tracks stretched 1,776 miles long, connecting the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The idea
of building this monumental rail line was present in America decades before the Pacific Railroad
Acts of 1862 authorized the construction. The Pacific Railroad Acts were passed because at the end
of the American Civil War, the southern Democrats (who opposed the idea) were now absent from

to advance the ways and means of transporting goods, supplies, mail, and people. Look at what it

Atlantic to the Pacific. From giving jobs to those minority groups and once former slaves after the

Edmund Burke On The Sublime Analysis
Many people around the world get scared but we never stop and ask ourselves what is it that
causes us to be scared or to have fear over something or someone ? . Most of this has to do with
our brain chemistry since our brain is lightning fast at processing threat . There are people out
there that enjoy being scared because they see it as entertainment and accomplishment of facing
their fears and leaves them with a sense of confidence after it s over. Just the same way there s
people that enjoy being frightened there are other people that don t enjoy the feeling of being
scared. From experience, most people might think it s horrible to overreact and get scared but
really all of us get scared at some point. It all comes naturally even when we sleep we have
nightmares which scare the living hell out of us. Have you ever catched yourself being drawn to
something that looks creepy and can t stop staring at it for some reason ? We all have at some
point and it gives you the chills that runs down your spine making your hairs at the back of your
neck stand up. When staring at these fearful objects, a part of you wants to turn away and leave but
the other part of you wants to keep looking at it because it s so scary but yet amazing. There is a
name for this term which is called the sublime and beautiful that catches a person s attention. In the

In my opinion, I think I can partly identify with David Wilkerson because of the way he treated
people. I m a girl of my words, what ever I say, I will do. David Wilkerson said he wanted to help
Nicky, and that is what he did. I m not a 100% peace maker, but I know when to be mature and
bring peace and I know when to be loud and noisy. There is a time, in a place.
Also, the fact that David wanted to make someone s life better and make them realize that god/love/
energy is the power of all humanity. I try to do that. I try my hardest, to make everyone feel special
and love themselves.
I have many perspectives of the movie. Though, the feeling that often returns is fear. I loved the
movie because it is was very inspirational, but I felt fear because this was what our world was a
long time ago and it still is now. I felt that the movie was describing reality.
I said the movie was inspirational because if someone tries hard enough, they can change you in
a negative and positive way, but if you try twice as hard, you can change yourself in which ever
way you desire. The movie itself might have changed people lives, you saw the point of views
from both sides. Negative and positive. Now its your turn to determine that path you wish to seek.

The Influence Of Public Policy In The United States
Public Policy is the way that our Executive branch of government help maintain the order of the
country as well as the needs of its citizens. Of course, no one system can be individually perfect
and solve all issues. But the public policies in the United States have been molded on off racial
prejudices in the past, and off legacy racism in the present. Discrimination that affects the racial

Public policy has influenced philanthropists to do some of the beneficial deeds they have done

necessarily benefit the people . Laws and bills passed such as the Bill of Rights or the Fair
Housing Act of 1968. Although there are actions being executed by the government, sometimes
they are not as beneficial as they were intended to be. Regular citizens as well as executives of

The Universe In Elie Wiesel s Night
Master of the Universe There is one singular question that persists in humanity from the beginning
of time, a question regarding the existence of perhaps the most influential figure in the universe:
God. In the memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel details his experiences in the holocaust, his journey from his
small Jewish community in Transylvania to the subsequent concentration camps which housed him
in his later youth. In this haunting account, Wiesel explores his own journey from a devout young
man to one that will question his own faith, the existenceof God, and how one could still believe in
a right and just God after witnessing such atrocities. Prior to his imprisonment Wiesel existed as
an incredibly pious member of the Jewish faith. As his fate and the Jewish people s becomes

of the last passages in the text that mention faith. Where is God s mercy? Where s God? How
can I believe, how can anyone believe in this God of Mercy? (Wiesel 76) With the many questions
that plague Wiesel, only more questions come about. The final one being, How can one still believe?
To say nothing of, there is still one more critical factor remaining in regards to Wiesel s faith.
The capitalization of one simple word, God. Throughout the entire memoir of Night, not once
does Wiesel fail to capitalize the word, God. Surely, it was out of respect. This would give hope to
the reader that even after all is said and done, Wiesel was not completely stripped of his

main characters in this movie, Gordy, Chris, Teddy, and Vern. In this essay, I will discuss how
communication, and self concept, affects the characters, and their interactions. Gordy La Chance,

the boys are considering cutting through the woods to find the body, and he stays behind, trying
to reason with the group to follow the safe path along the railroad tracks, but in order to fit in, he
reluctantly follows. His presenting self is assured and agreeable. Inwardly, or his perceived self,
is actually worried, vulnerable, and gullible. Throughout this movie, we learn how relationships
are formed and maintained, and how our perceived self, and presenting self can be very different.
The boys continually use identity management to jockey for position in the group, however each
one knows where they actually belong. It is only when they encounter a difficult situation, that
they show their true emotions and feelings. They do stick up for each other, and show true
concern and caring when the need arises, however, in the presenting face, they play it much more
cool, and even somewhat unconcerned for each other s feelings. In the end, the relationship
between the four dwindles, and only Gordy and Chris remained friends. Gordy helped Chris to
overcome his self fulfilling prophecy by encouraging him to attend college, and become a lawyer.

Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd )
What Is Autism? Autism Spectrum Disorder, (ASD) is a development disorder and affects the
brains normal development in social and communication skills. ASD is now defined as a single
disorder and includes disorders that were previously considered separate such as Childhood
Disintegrative Disorder, Asperger s Syndrome, and Persuasive Developmental Disorder not
otherwise specified. There is no exact cause of ASD, but scientists believe that a variety of factors
both genetic and environmental may play a role. Scientists believe that several genes are involved
in the development of ASD. There is a genetic susceptibility to ASD. This was initially determined
by twin and other family studies. Although many chromosomal and gene abnormalities have been
associated with symptoms of ASD, none of these are present in all affected children (Errol, 2014).
Scientists believe that some genetic problems seem to be inherited, while others happen randomly.
Although genetics do not fully explain the occurrence of ASD, researchers looked at the additional
environmental causes such as prenatal and perinatal factors, early toxin exposure, viral or bacterial
infections, vaccinations, and autoimmune concerns. Scientists are studying how environmental
factors affect certain genes. By studying how environmental factors affect genes, it provides many
new ways to study how ASD develops and changes over time. ASD affects a child s ability to
interact and communicate with others. No child is the same

The Proposal В¬в€
Џ Directed By Anne Fletcher Essay
One of my personal all time favorite movies, The ProposalВё directed by Anne Fletcher, is a
drama/romance that illustrates two people who weren t meant to fall in love (Lieberman, 2009).
The following movie trailer assists in outlining the storyline of the movie and how a series of
unforeseen events can change animosity into romantic love.
From the beginning of the movie, Andrew and Margaret had a work relationship that embodied
intimacy. Intimacy, as defined by Kyle Hill, is [f]eelings of attachment, closeness, typified by
sharing secrets, etc. (Hill, 2012, May 18). The intimacy shared between Margaret and Andrew is
due to the nature of their career; they had spent [a]ll those late nights at the office and weekend
book fairs (Lieberman, 2009). As Margaret s assistant, Andrew handles some, if not most, of her
personal and private matters like the midnight Tampax runs and her appointments, Two years ago,
your dermatologist called and asked about a Q switched laser (Lieberman, 2009). Their work
relationship created an intimacy that typically is nonexistent between two coworkers or an
employee and their boss.
As the movie progressed, their relationship took on another component; commitment. Commitment,
as defined In The Triangular Theory of Love, is [a] willingness in the short term to create and
maintain a relationship and long term plans to sustain the relationship (Hill, 2012, May 18). The
commitment exhibited between Margaret and Andrew is not the

Norms Are The Expectations, Or Rules Of Behavior
Norms are the expectations, or rules of behavior that develop to reflect and enforce values. A
norm violation is when a person goes against a certain way that culture and society expects one
to act. When going against the norm it means that you are doing something that is not
acceptable to one s society or their culture. Normative behavior is expected to be in every
culture. For example, in our society men and women have the freedom to wear whatever they
please, we are allowed to show our legs, arms, feet etc. because its an expression of who we are
and what we like. In the Muslim culture when a women reaches puberty no part of her body
should remain uncovered except the face and the hand up to the wrist joint. If the Muslim woman
wore shorts and a t shirt it would be considered a violation of a norm. But because this violation
differs from our American Society it wouldn t be considered weird or strange to wear shorts and a
tee.
The norm violation i preformed was the invasion of privacy. People are used to being in a
bubble, having a couple feet of space among themselves and strangers. So what i did was go to
my local Target and basically creep four people out. I started off by walking up to these people
individually. and standing so close to them to where our shoulders met. The only common reaction
they shared was confusion. Two of the customers didn t see me coming, i snuck up on them. One

The Cause And Causes Of The Spanish Inquisition
The Spanish Inquisition
Introduction
The word Inquisition refers to the tribunal court system used by the Catholic Church to suppress
and punish the heretics. All people who were considered against catholic teachings were called
heretics
The Spanish Inquisition was the prosecuting, trying and killing of all heretics. Clergymen from the
Catholics Church went around and persecuted anybody that questioned the ChurchВґs teachings or
was any other religion. In consequences, all the Protestants, Jews and Muslims from Spain where
considered as heretics and persecuted.
In this work, we will firstly explore the roots of the Spanish Inquisition. In a second part, we will
analyse how the Spanish Inquisition occurred. Finally we will consider the different ... Show more

Its definitive abolition occured in 1834. The activity of the Inquisition also varied across time.
The Effects of the Spanish Inquisition
We identified three principal categories of effects of the Spanish Inquisition: sociological effects,
economical effects and political effects.
Sociological effects
The end of a multicultural framework. Massive conversion of Jews. The elimination of a plural,
open society. Thousands of people were arrested, tortured and executed in spain
Economical effects
Research shows that Spanish regions that were more affected by the Inquisition are associated with
lower economic development ( An Economic Analysis of the Spanish Inquisition s
Motivations and Consequences by Jordi Vidal Robert)
A less innovative mindset. The repressive behavior of the Inquisition have negatively affected the
willingness to innovate or to invest in new technology to avoid being punished
Political effects
An impossibility to express any political ideology that differed from the official ideology.
With the Inquisition the Kings of Spain and the spanish Catholic Church were adquiring more and

Theme Of Alienation In Richard Cory
In these three stories we have three different characters who are cast outs and seem to stray away
from the world around them. The difference in these three characters is that they each have a
certain way they express this theme of loneliness and alienation. While some characters may
seem to have no troubles or problems whatsoever on the outside, it does not mean that they are
normal on the inside as well. To figure out why these characters appeal to us, like so, takes a
more psychological bearing into their well being and how they think. It also means looking closer
at how they view the world around them as well as other people.
Starting with Edwin Arlington Robinson s Richard Cory , we find a man of riches. His kind and ...

Instead of others pushing him into a corner, he rather does it himself out of spite. His reason for
being alienated comes from a question that he initially would have liked to ask a certain woman
he seemed to be interested in, but was not able to do so because of fear of what her response
might be. He decides in the end that it would not be worth the risk and having the dread of
rejection pile on him. So he decides to cut his losses which have not even yet occurred and loses
himself in a dark cloud of sadness.
Lastly, our character from Edwin Arlington Robinson s Miniver Cheevy , a known town
drunkard is lost in his own thoughts on the difference between a romantic heroic past and a
mundane modern society. However with these thoughts, he doesn t think once to change himself
for the better. The way that he takes a look on life is almost like a double edged sword. On one
hand he wishes for a better community and environment, yet does not want to contribute his help
towards it. Certain thoughts of creating his own fantasy town about legendary personages, one of
them being the Medici rulers of Renaissance Florence, whose wickedness would incite him to
perform acts of his own evil deeds. He sees himself as a run of the mill bum on the street, and
gladly says that would much rather trade his commonplace clothing for medieval armor, although
he still holds on to the corruptions in every day life, such as his love of money, which otherwise he

The Role Of Visual Arts For Stage Interventions Into The...
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate in practice and conceptually the function of the
mirror in visual art, with particular reference to the portrayal of women.
By drawing from the
field of art and literature featuring the mirror and reflection, I will be looking at how the work of
contemporary women artists and photographers challenged traditional attitudes and practices. This
dissertation will be about women who use visual arts to stage interventions into the representation of
the female self .
The female body and mirror have repeatedly featured in visual art over the
centuries. It is the purpose of my dissertation to discover the reasons behind the use of the mirror in
both western and contemporary art, giving a historical overview of women artists differing
strategies towards self portraiture throughout the twentieth century and analysing why this area has
proved so fruitful and inspiring for women. RESEARCH
This research aims to: examine the significance of the mirror in art:
 simulation of reality;

metaphor for framing images:
In the aesthetic realm, as in philosophical, the frame constructs
the image or the knowledge. The frame places certain material into the centre of discourse and
marginalises others . (Meskimmon, 1996:4)
 definition of the self :
 Through seeing itself in
the mirror with the mother, the infant is enable to differentiate its polymorphous experiences of its
body from those of the mother and

Media Violence and Its Effect on Society
Media Violence And Its Effect On Society
Does entertainment influence society s attitude towards violent behavior? In order to fully answer
this question we must first understand what violence is. Violence is the use of one s powers to
inflict mental or physical injury upon another; examples of this would be rape or murder. Violence
in entertainment reaches the public by way of television, movies, video games, music, and novels.
Violent images on television, as well as in the movies, have inspired people to set spouses on fire
in their beds, lie down in the middle of highways, extort money by placing bombs in airplanes, rape,
steal, murder, and commit numerous other shootings and assaults. Over 1,000 case studies have
proven that media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These children do not understand that the violence is shown strictly because the public wants to
see it. They cannot grasp the meaning of ratings and entertainment as well as adults can. All they
know is, if the TV portrays violence as cool, then it must be cool! The problem isn t the violence
in the media though; it is the media s failure to show the consequences of violence. This is
especially true of cartoons, toy commercials, and music videos. Children often do not realize that
it hurts to hit someone else because they see it all the time on TV. Everyday a cartoon character is
beat up, injured, or killed, only to return in the very next episode, good as new. As a result, children
learn that there are few, if any repercussions for committing violent acts.
In a recent incident in Norway, two children beat another child by jumping and kicking the child
in the head and other parts of her body numerous times. As a result, the child died from being left
out in the cold because she was not able to move due to her injuries. Later the officials had
discovered that the barbaric incident was due to the fact that the children had watched the violent
cartoon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The children thought that the girl would later get up
because in the show the characters never die. Consequently, the show Mighty Morphin Power
Rangers was canceled throughout Norway.

The American Dream In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was written in 1952, a time in which the African American
community was facing new hardships that differed from the hardships of the generation before
them. Slavery in the United States was outlawed in 1865 after the Civil War with the passing of the
Thirteenth Amendment, but Jim Crow Laws, social norms, and inherited biases continued to make
the American Dream virtually impossible for anyone whose skin color was darker than eggshell.
Today, many of us believe that outright racismhas been defeated; that because we eradicated
sayings like separate but equal , and white is right means there is no way we are like the people in
the 1800s or the early 1900s. In Invisible Man, Ellison highlights the differences between two
generation s problems, however, many of the stereotypes, phrases, and anecdotes Ellison utilizes in
this work shines a light on our own generational issues with race.
President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to
win or lose. L.B.J alludes to the idea of an American dream that if you failed yesterday you can
work hard enough and still make a good life for yourself or your family, but can African
Americans work hard enough? Many older generations of the black community did truly believe in
the American dream. When someone goes from being in bondage to being free, even if that
freedom is limited, it may feel as though anything is possible but for the generations that were

  • 7. Diabetes Mellitus As A Chronic Metabolic Disorder Essay Chapter 23 Diabetes Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that prevents the body to utilise glucose completely or partially. It is characterised by raised glucose concentration in the blood and alterations in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. Since insulin is produced by the p cells of the islets of Langerhans, any receding in the number of functioning cells will decrease the amount of insulin that can be synthesised. Many diabetics can produce sufficient insulin but some stimulus to the islets tissue is needed in order that secretion can take place. During the early stages of the disease, the Insulin Like Activity (ILA) of the blood is often increased, but most of this insulin appears to be bound to protein and is not available for transport across the cell membrane and action of the cell. This switch would provide farmers another source of income and would also help to prevent the spread of the insect. The growing relationship between the United States and Pakistan was displayed when the Truman Administration requested that Pakistan join the UN collation that was fighting in the Korean War, but Liaquat decided that his country could not afford to dedicate their military resources to another conflict while they were constantly threated by the Kashmir crisis. The Pakistani visit to America may have solidified Pakistani America relations, but it led to the destruction to Indian American relations as the Indians suspected the United States was supplying Pakistan with military equipment that could be used against ... The white expansion into the Ohio Valley Region brought about the decline and the eventual dissolution of the Native American way of life. The struggles of the French and English in the north and the westward push of American settlers in the south were met with unified pro nativist resistance. The individual struggles of three men characterize the turmoil between whites and Native Americans. In turn, the French protected the Indians and supplied them with guns, gunpowder, ammunition for hunting, and with provisions during harsh winters (Hough, xii). This European influence had radically changed the lives of the Great Lakes tribes. By the time of Pontiac s boyhood, the stone and bone tools of his people had been replaced by steel axes, knives, and traps (Hough, viii). In the 1740s, commercial competition between France and Great Britain had intensified, and war broke out in 1744. Ottawa warriors fought on the side of the French, as they did in all four major wars from 1689 1763 (Eckert, 127). British forces under British Commander in chief Sir Jeffrey Amherst swept through the Great Lakes region, seizing control of most of the French forts by 1760. Amherst was well known to be arrogant and contemptuous of the Indians. He insisted that the good behavior of the natives should be bought with fear. Under British occupation, unrest grew among the tribes (Hough,xii0). Pontiac called a meeting of Ottawa, Chippewa, Huron, Potawatomi and other Lake tribes. Pontiac was a powerful orator as well as warrior, and possessed a keen intelligence and skill as a strategist. Edmund Burke On The Sublime Analysis Many people around the world get scared but we never stop and ask ourselves what is it that causes us to be scared or to have fear over something or someone ? . Most of this has to do with our brain chemistry since our brain is lightning fast at processing threat . There are people out there that enjoy being scared because they see it as entertainment and accomplishment of facing their fears and leaves them with a sense of confidence after it s over. Just the same way there s people that enjoy being frightened there are other people that don t enjoy the feeling of being scared. From experience, most people might think it s horrible to overreact and get scared but really all of us get scared at some point. It all comes naturally even when we sleep we have nightmares which scare the living hell out of us. ASD is now defined as a single disorder and includes disorders that were previously considered separate such as Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Asperger s Syndrome, and Persuasive Developmental Disorder not otherwise specified. There is no exact cause of ASD, but scientists believe that a variety of factors both genetic and environmental may play a role. Scientists believe that several genes are involved in the development of ASD. There is a genetic susceptibility to ASD. This was initially determined by twin and other family studies. Although many chromosomal and gene abnormalities have been associated with symptoms of ASD, none of these are present in all affected children (Errol, 2014). Scientists believe that some genetic problems seem to be inherited, while others happen randomly. Although genetics do not fully explain the occurrence of ASD, researchers looked at the additional environmental causes such as prenatal and perinatal factors, early toxin exposure, viral or bacterial infections, vaccinations, and autoimmune concerns. • 41. Theme Of Alienation In Richard Cory In these three stories we have three different characters who are cast outs and seem to stray away from the world around them. The difference in these three characters is that they each have a certain way they express this theme of loneliness and alienation. While some characters may seem to have no troubles or problems whatsoever on the outside, it does not mean that they are normal on the inside as well. To figure out why these characters appeal to us, like so, takes a more psychological bearing into their well being and how they think. It also means looking closer at how they view the world around them as well as other people. Starting with Edwin Arlington Robinson s Richard Cory , we find a man of riches. His kind and ... His reason for being alienated comes from a question that he initially would have liked to ask a certain woman he seemed to be interested in, but was not able to do so because of fear of what her response might be. He decides in the end that it would not be worth the risk and having the dread of rejection pile on him. So he decides to cut his losses which have not even yet occurred and loses himself in a dark cloud of sadness. Lastly, our character from Edwin Arlington Robinson s Miniver Cheevy , a known town drunkard is lost in his own thoughts on the difference between a romantic heroic past and a mundane modern society. However with these thoughts, he doesn t think once to change himself for the better. The way that he takes a look on life is almost like a double edged sword. On one hand he wishes for a better community and environment, yet does not want to contribute his help towards it. Certain thoughts of creating his own fantasy town about legendary personages, one of them being the Medici rulers of Renaissance Florence, whose wickedness would incite him to perform acts of his own evil deeds. He sees himself as a run of the mill bum on the street, and gladly says that would much rather trade his commonplace clothing for medieval armor, although he still holds on to the corruptions in every day life, such as his love of money, which otherwise he scorns ... • 42. The Role Of Visual Arts For Stage Interventions Into The... INTRODUCTION The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate in practice and conceptually the function of the mirror in visual art, with particular reference to the portrayal of women.
By drawing from the field of art and literature featuring the mirror and reflection, I will be looking at how the work of contemporary women artists and photographers challenged traditional attitudes and practices. This dissertation will be about women who use visual arts to stage interventions into the representation of the female self .
The female body and mirror have repeatedly featured in visual art over the centuries. It is the purpose of my dissertation to discover the reasons behind the use of the mirror in both western and contemporary art, giving a historical overview of women artists differing strategies towards self portraiture throughout the twentieth century and analysing why this area has proved so fruitful and inspiring for women. RESEARCH This research aims to: examine the significance of the mirror in art:
 simulation of reality;
 metaphor for framing images:
In the aesthetic realm, as in philosophical, the frame constructs the image or the knowledge. The frame places certain material into the centre of discourse and marginalises others . (Meskimmon, 1996:4)

  • 43. Media Violence and Its Effect on Society Media Violence And Its Effect On Society Does entertainment influence society s attitude towards violent behavior? In order to fully answer this question we must first understand what violence is. Violence is the use of one s powers to inflict mental or physical injury upon another; examples of this would be rape or murder. Violence in entertainment reaches the public by way of television, movies, video games, music, and novels. Violent images on television, as well as in the movies, have inspired people to set spouses on fire in their beds, lie down in the middle of highways, extort money by placing bombs in airplanes, rape, steal, murder, and commit numerous other shootings and assaults. Over 1,000 case studies have proven that media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These children do not understand that the violence is shown strictly because the public wants to see it. They cannot grasp the meaning of ratings and entertainment as well as adults can. All they know is, if the TV portrays violence as cool, then it must be cool! The problem isn t the violence in the media though; it is the media s failure to show the consequences of violence. This is especially true of cartoons, toy commercials, and music videos. Children often do not realize that it hurts to hit someone else because they see it all the time on TV. Everyday a cartoon character is beat up, injured, or killed, only to return in the very next episode, good as new. As a result, children learn that there are few, if any repercussions for committing violent acts. In a recent incident in Norway, two children beat another child by jumping and kicking the child in the head and other parts of her body numerous times. As a result, the child died from being left out in the cold because she was not able to move due to her injuries. Later the officials had discovered that the barbaric incident was due to the fact that the children had watched the violent cartoon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The children thought that the girl would later get up because in the show the characters never die. Consequently, the show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was canceled throughout Norway. Music ... • 44. The American Dream In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was written in 1952, a time in which the African American community was facing new hardships that differed from the hardships of the generation before them. Slavery in the United States was outlawed in 1865 after the Civil War with the passing of the Thirteenth Amendment, but Jim Crow Laws, social norms, and inherited biases continued to make the American Dream virtually impossible for anyone whose skin color was darker than eggshell. Today, many of us believe that outright racismhas been defeated; that because we eradicated sayings like separate but equal , and white is right means there is no way we are like the people in the 1800s or the early 1900s. In Invisible Man, Ellison highlights the differences between two generation s problems, however, many of the stereotypes, phrases, and anecdotes Ellison utilizes in this work shines a light on our own generational issues with race. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. L.B.J alludes to the idea of an American dream that if you failed yesterday you can work hard enough and still make a good life for yourself or your family, but can African Americans work hard enough? Many older generations of the black community did truly believe in the American dream. When someone goes from being in bondage to being free, even if that freedom is limited, it may feel as though anything is possible but for the generations that were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
