Attenuation Types Of Photon Energy
The CBCT is relatively recent technology, with the first commercial scanner being introduced in 1998
for dental imaging (87) This is a type of CT that uses a cone X ray beam instead of the conventional
fan beam (88). For standard full field of view for CBCT, polychromatic X rays are generated from a
source tube excited by 100 120 kV tube potential with 1.5 10 mA current (89). The emitted X ray
photon energy is absorbed by materials located be¬tween the X ray source and detector. The
remaining energy after absorption is recorded on a detector as expressed by intensity (I) that
represents energy per area and time. For example, the flat panel detector consists of a pixel array of
hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin film transistors (88). A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

1. Larger detectors have a greater chance of encountering the scattered X ray pho¬tons leading to
streak artefacts during reconstruction pro¬cess for the CBCT image (90). Beam hardening occur as the
energy levels of polychromatic X ray beams used in the CBCT are not identical, the lower energy
photons can be easily absorbed at the edges of the scanned subject resulting in hardening of the X ray
beam, which produces lower gray values toward the center of the subject (cup¬ping artifact) even if
the density of the subject is homoge¬nous (91) Defects or un calibrated components in the detector
may cause ring artefacts with concentric rings in the CBCT im¬age. Scanning dense metallic materials
can cause severe streaking artifacts when their gray values exceed the maxi mum level of operation
that the software can handle (91). Shading or streaking artefacts may be observed when the gray
values are incorrectly registered due to patient motion during CBCT scanning (90,91) This artefact
com¬monly appears as double contours in the CBCT image. To date, CBCT based BMD measurement
has been used mainly to estimate bone properties for dental implanta¬tion (92). The BMD measured
from CBCT images showed a better predicting power to estimate cortical bone frac¬ture than assessed
by the conventional DXA images (93). More applications are performed for the diagnosis of oral bone
disease, improvement of orthodontic treatment,

Bigelow s Use Of Mise-En-Scene In The Hurt Locker
In Kathryn Bigelow s film, The Hurt Locker, the director utilizes Mise En Scene to create a constant
presence of danger and unease throughout the film. With the goal to show the horrific reality of war,
Bigelow used specific elements such as characters outfits, lighting, types of camera techniques, setting
and overall pacing are the directors strongest weapons in creating the pressing tension felt in her film.
James, the films main character is the lens which Bigelow uses to show the audience the pain that war
causes for both sides of the fight. Bigelow shows how war can change someone so much, altering
them to the point to where they no longer feel welcome upon their return. From the beginning of this
film the army units are portrayed as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James is thrown in between the warzone and a presumably American supermarket, where shock and
sterility is felt, contrasting the two worlds that James is a part of. James is surrounded by poverty and
suffering while in Iraq, a result of the war that he is fighting in. When it cuts to the supermarket,
James is clean in civilian clothing and surrounding by a cornucopia of food. The lighting is also used
to show the difference between the two places. Iraq is a place covered in a layer of dirt and sand while
the supermarket is a stark bright white, showing off the cleanliness of the land. Right before it cuts to
the supermarket scene James is riding in the car in the dark, making the viewer focus on what is
shown and making it feel controlled. Then when it shifts to the supermarket, we are greeted with a
sense of lost when presented with the seemingly endless rows of food. The elements of brightness,
color, dress and pace create conflict with each other. The audience can tell that while Iraq is a chaotic
mess, James is happy in it because it is his identity. Back in America he has no purpose, no drive. Like
many veterans, the surrealistic nature that is felt upon leaving war is impressed onto the audience and
we to begin to understand the feeling of alienation in one s own home. We are given a glimpse into
what the horrors of conflict due to a solider and what they

Ufo Conspiracy Research Paper
The Truth is Out There The truth behind the UFO conspiracy In this chapter, an event in the 1980 s
was portrayed wherein American people claimed to have seen an unexplained object in the sky. The
government said that based on their investigations, it was a UFO due to alien visitations. However, the
claim of the government was just a giant cover up. The entry of UFO in the world that the American
government spread to the public was just a fake conspiracy to mislead the people. It is not a UFO but a
high technology weapon prepared by the government to ensure that they can be at least on the same
strength as the growing strength of the Soviet Union. As much as possible, the American government
want to keep the high technology weapon as a secret but they could not keep it away from the eyes of
the public that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Commission on Global Governance (2005) defined global governance as the sum of the many
ways individuals and institutions, public and private, manage their common affairs; it is a continuing
process through which conflicting or diverse interests may be accommodated and cooperative action
may be taken . The perception management which mislead the people from the complexities of reality
that the American government adopted in 1980 s, do not conform with the definition of global
governance since it includes the individuals as an actor that has to be involved with the process of
conflict resolution. Since global governance is synonymous to international organizations, this imply
that it is the IOs responsibility to ensure that global governance is being adopted across the globe. We
cannot fully relate the case of the UFO conspiracy to the Philippines since we have to consider that the
country could not afford creating such kind of technology so what I tried to analyze here is the
perception management that the American government used to mislead the people from the

Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions...
1 .1 Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions The beginning The beginning of the
counselling process starts when the client first meets the counsellor, the saying first impressions count
is absolutely true for both the client and counsellor, the client will be very nervous and unsure what is
about to take place. The way the counsellor approaches the client in this infant stage is vital for the
client to gain trust and has the willingness to open up in later sessions. Some clients may just rush into
what is troubling them or say nothing, in both cases the counsellor will need to be patient, observe and
listen to what is being said as there will be vital information given and without understanding this it
could damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.2 Evaluate the importance of an appropriate opening of a series of sessions In my opinion the
beginning of the counselling session is one of the most important stage of the process, the client will
be very nervous and will not fully trust the process they are about to embark on, their unknown
journey they will be nervous. The Client may hold back what they are feeling until they have gained
the trust of the counsellor, and know they are safe and in a confidential environment. Another
important factor in the opening stage is to draw up a contract and discuss the content with the client,
this will demonstrate it s a working relationship and both the client and counsellor will know their
barriers, it also gives structure and prevents any misunderstanding in the relationship. By having a
contract it demonstrates to the client they are safe and able to speak freely also it shows the client that
each session if totally confidential, there are exceptions to the rule and these will be included in the
contract and what the process will be if they disclose anything that is unlawful. Having unconditional
positive regard from the beginning will display to the client there is no hidden agenda and that the
counsellor is non judgmental, this will support the client to develop the working relationship and show
the client they are valued and wanted, they will start to relax to open up freely and loosen up their
attitude towards the session. 1.3

The Principle Of The Glandular Fever Test
1) What is the organism responsible for the occurrence of IM? What patient group is mainly affected?
The organism responsible for the occurrence of IM is the Epstein Barr virus (EBV). This virus belongs
to the Herpes group and was first identified in cultured cells from biopsies of Burkitt s Lymphoma.
The patient group that is mainly affected are 15 to 25 year olds. Infants and younger children have
been affected, but the virus is very rarely found in middle aged or elderly people.
2) Explain the principle of the glandular fever test.
A patient sample is added to an absorbent pad on the test strip which contains bovine erythrocyte
glycoprotein. The patient sample mobilises the blue microspheres that are contained in the test strip
and they move up the strip. The test strip contains a region of immobilised bovine erythrocyte
glycoprotein in the result window. If any IM heterophile antibodies are present in the specimen, then a
blue line should appear in the result window. The Clearview IM test strips used in the laboratory
provides an integrated control feature.
3) What is a heterophile antibody?
A heterophile antibody is an antibody produced in one species that reacts with the cells from another
unrelated species. These antibodies, which are IgM in nature, are not specific for sheep red cells but
also react with horse and ox, but NOT human, red cells.
4) What are atypical lymphocytes and how do they appear on: a) blood film, b) graphics plot?

Macbeth Consequences
Every action has a consequence
Every action has a consequence, this statement relates to Shakespeare s play Macbeth , as Macbeth is
a tragic hero who destroys himself by his own wicked and selfish ambitions. At the beginning of the
play Macbeth is portrayed as a courageous, noble hero of Scotland who has bravely won victory over
the war. After this win, Macbeth and Banquo come across three supernatural beings who prophesies
Macbeth s rein as king of Scotland. As the story unfolds, the witches prophecy is proven to be correct
and Macbeth soon becomes a tyrant king who is willing to murder anyone who will bring his rein to
an end. Macbeth s spouse, lady Macbeth is also shown destroying her reputation of a noble woman
through her barbaric actions. The statement every action has a consequence also correlates to the film
the lion king directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff. The similarities of scars reckless actions to
lead Simba and Mufasa (the king) into a stampede of wildebeests that ended in the death of Mufasa, is
what led to scars downfall and death. Therefore, Shakespeare play Macbeth implements the statement
every action has a consequence through various ways, many similar to the film the lion king.
Macbeth s actions are what lead to the consequence of death. His first significant choice that lead up
to his fatal consequence was to kill king Duncan. This ambition originated in the early stages of the
text when the witches caught the heroes attention by

Professional Documentation In Business
Professional Prospective Process documentation aids in capturing the perceptions of stakeholders and
the fueling of need for change, process improvement, and growth. Proper business needs and
documentation help to add the necessary vibrant detail about how to understand how, why, when and
what it takes to be successful with change. While most organizations understand that change is
inevitable and paramount, change can be hard to embrace especially when the organization does not
have any details of that the business actually does on a daily and granular level. When an organization
is knowledgeable about the details to remain relevant in the market in which they exist, it offers
leverage given the ability to reflect back on what has already ... Show more content on

In some areas of business this has not appeared to be a relevant need, but that is changing for
organizations on a daily basis. Sadly, the revelation for organizations to make the necessary changes to
include detailed documentation are often not realized until there is a major event at the organization
that is not easily resolved due to the lack of a process being in place or documentation being in place
that proves to be effective. In all areas of business there is an urgent and significant need for process to
be written and verified. It is not enough that a person who completes a task or process on a daily basis
documents what one believes is done on a regular basis to address the needs of the organization, but
that there needs to be a quality measurement that verifies that the information that has been provided
is not only correct, but also effective. Wynn (2009) states, These types of business processes can be
found in various domains, such as application integration, B2B commerce, and web service
composition and workflow systems. Even though cancellation and sophisticated join structures are
present in many business processes, existing verification techniques are unable to deal

The Demon Lover, An Analysis Essay
In The Demon Lover, by Elizabeth Bowen, Kathleen Drover returns to London from her house in the
country in order to gather some things that she and her husband had abandoned during the bombings
of the war. It is a humid, rainy day in late August and her once familiar street is now mostly deserted.
The caretaker of her house is supposed to be out of town for a week and her arrival is assumed
unknown. Mrs. Drover enters the old musty house and discovers a letter addressed to herself and it is
marked with the present date. Curious to know if the caretaker is back in town and a little annoyed by
the letter seeming to have no urgency in being mailed to her, she proceeds upstairs to her old bedroom
to read it. In utter shock and complete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she was nineteen she made a promise to her fianc #233;, who her mother claimed was set on
her, not in love. A couple months after he left for war he was reported missing and presumed dead. At
thirty two she met and married her current husband and had children. Now, it seems that the demon
wants his fianc #233; to keep her promise. Bowen may have chosen to give her the last name of
Drover, because a drover is someone who herds animals to market and it seems as though her fate will
meet the same demise as the demon takes her away. Mrs. Drovers internal conflict occurred when she
did not come through on the promise that she made and now, it seem she can not even recall what the
promise was. She is faced with an external conflict as well because she will no longer have her family.
She is in the hands of a demon. The third person objective point of view forces the reader to conclude
for themself what is really happening. We can not hear her thoughts so it is impossible to know if she
really remembers this so called promise. The two main elements that really work together to make this
story felt by the reader are setting and language. The excellent use of literal imagery evokes the
readers senses and sends a chilling feeling of suspense and terror down the spine, thus, creating the

Semiotics In Politics Essay
We are a society that thrives upon communication, from texting to tweeting and all forms in between.
It is not surprising that we often find ourselves drawn in and influenced by the manipulative skills of
well organized syllables and strong punctuation. Political rallies are in no shortage of examples of the
prowess of semiotics. We use them to speak our minds, to spread the truth, to satirize other s opinions,
and to fabricate our own. As human beings we are not unused to the idea that politics often involves
tricky rhetoric and verbal wordplay in efforts to persuade us. However, not often are we aware that
tangible signs sway us to much the same effect. Political signs first and foremost seek to influence a
decision, or ideals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Semiotics influences signs by modifying the way we see them when certain aspects are changed or
enhanced to convey or evoke certain meanings or feelings, when words are italicized or bolded our
eyes immediately focus more on them than the other words, when messages are presented to us in
strange or noticeable fonts we are drawn to them, they stick in our minds, they make a certain impact.
As Ferdinand de Saussure stated and is quoted on a University of Vermont educational website, All
signs have two aspects: the signifier and the signified. The signifier is any material thing that signifies,
e.g., words on a page, a facial expression, a picture, a bit of graffiti. The signified is the concept that a
signifier refers to. In most cases the signified is in relation to the signifier in order to ensure the
signified is able to relate to it s signifier. I/e, men smoking looking as though they are enjoying
themselves, the signifier is the man smoking the cigarette, and the man, and the cigarette, seeking to
signify men or masculinity (Saussure p.2). The same is applied to political signs, in relation the creator
of the sign seeks to put emphasis on something that they wish the audience to connect the main idea of
their sign too. For example at The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, many protestors utilize
symbols in order to connect their beliefs or ideas to a grander concept. In one protestors sign, a

Smart Grids Technologies Can Be Put Into Four Functional...
Generally, smart grids technologies can be put into four functional categories: Information collectors;
information assemblers, displayers, and assessors; information based controllers and energy resources.
Smart grids collected data from various types of sensors. These sensors measure performance related
characteristics of electricity system components. Assessors are used to analysis and display the
information they received from the devices. The information based controllers devices will use the
information that they received to control the other devices behavior to achieve the goal. Energy or
power resources include the technologies that can used to generate, store, or reduce demand for
electricity. However, renewable energy sources have been used in so many countries to reduce CO2
emissions and provide sustainable electrical power. The power electronic interface between a
renewable energy source and the grid can be used to control reactive power output and hence the
network voltage as well as curtailing real power output, and so enable the generator to respond to the
requirements of the grid. Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is one of the smart grid
technologies that have been used in many homes and business. Their objective is to enable to let the
users can use wattage readers to check how much juice their appliances and gadgets use. They

Quotes From The Book Of Exodus
Rachel Mathews
H 101 B
Reading Response I
I. Quote
a. Monotheism and Mosaic Law, The Book of Exodus, Chapter 19 20. (c. Tenth Sixth Centuries
B.C.E.)
Moses answered the people, Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him,
being always in your mind, may keep you from sinning
b. The quote is significant because it explains how God works. Moses is talking to the people who fear
the peals of thunder on the mountain and lightning flashes. They were also scared of the loud sound of
the trumpet and the smoking mountain. Basically, Moses is telling them not to fear and that God is just
testing them. He explains that God is hoping that if they are afraid, then they will not sin. I think this
is important when believing in monotheism because there is only one God. In the Holy Bible of today
s time, God says, Do not be afraid multiple times and this quote reveals the ethical dimension of the
Hebrews monotheism. The concept of sin was missing in the region during the tenth sixth centuries.

Essay on Theory Of Knowledge
Theory Of Knowledge In today s society, science is regarded as being the most trusted form of
knowledge, leading to many claiming it to be the supreme form of knowledge. To investigate whether
or not this is justified we must compare science to other forms/areas of knowledge and consider what
they each contribute. The strongest argument science has to claim this title, is the objectivity and
empirical nature of its method and in particular its verifying processes; mainly based on inductive and
deductive reasoning. Modern science is closely related to inductive reasoning and is presented as a
distinctive feature of scientific activity today. Induction works by verification: correspondence ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most prolific of these adapted verification processes are the Hypothetico deductive model, a
modern formulation associated with famous scientists such as Popper and Hemple. It works by using a
combination of both verification techniques, claiming that what distinguishes scientific hypothesis
from a non scientific hypothesis is not its origin, but the formers capacity to stand up to testing. The
name comes from the claim that the starting point is the hypothesis, from which we can predict that
particular events will occur under particular circumstances. This prediction is a deduction from the
initial hypothesis, and if events occur as predicted then the hypothesis is confirmed. Confirmation of
the hypothesis is inductive, simply because if the hypothesis holds true x number of times, we claim
that it always will hold true. This confirmation of the hypothesis process is the part of the model that
encompasses inductive reasoning, as when using this method one only has access to a limited number
of events. Although the Hypothetico model was developed to incorporate advantages of both types of
verifications, by using inductive reasoning as confirmation processes, it is still affected by the
fundamental flaws of inductivism and basic criticism of the original scientific model. Questions such
as, Why is it legitimate to assume that things will continue to behave as they always

The Poor Corporate Culture At Lazier Industries
LAZIER INDUSTRIES August 2015 Shaun Branam Table of Contents Executive Summary 3
Introduction 4 Analysis 5 Conclusions and Recommendations 9 Bibliography 11 Executive Summary
The problem in the case is the poor corporate culture at Lazier Industries. Although the company is
performing well, there is dissent amongst managers, VP s and employees which is spreading rapidly.
The underlying issue is Bob Lazier who has not done a good job demonstrating his vision for the
company and implementing a corporate culture that complements this vision. Therefore, in this
analysis it will be recommended that Bob implement not only performance metrics that measure
employee satisfaction such as quarterly surveys but also implement rewards such as employee of the
month in order to increase morale. Further, LI will look to invest in its employees in order to increase
productivity in the long run. Introduction The first object Bob Lazier undertook as the new CEO of
Lazier Industries, was to implement a strategic plan that focused on introducing several new products
which could be cross sold to LI s existing customer base. As a strong believer in the company and it s
potential to broaden its offerings Bob was looking to leverage the strong relationships built with its

Gps, Gps And Remote Sensing Technologies
4.0 Spatial Technologies
The GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing technologies have evolved over the last two decades, as the three
most important spatial database technologies for the developmental planning and decision support.
Today, these spatial technologies play a revolutionary role in disaster monitoring, assessment and
management. Remote sensing is used for real time and accurate data capture. GIS is used as the most
effective and efficient tool for storing, integrating, manipulating and presenting spatial and non spatial
information. GPS is used for obtaining precise coordinates of important geographical features,
emergency mapping and establishing connectivity in the neighborhood.
4.1 Geographic Information System (GIS)
Geographic Information System (GIS) is a spatial information system for creating, organizing,
integrating, querying, analyzing and displaying spatial data pertaining to real world. The integration of
spatial data and attribute data and data from various sources is one of the strongest features of GIS.
The spatial data in the form of maps, satellite images, aerial photographs, GPS observations and

Biophilia Hypothesis Essay
Biophilia hypothesis is the theory that humans possess a natural tendency to seek connections with
nature and other forms of life (Britannica). Many advantages are hypothesized to be a result of
spending more time in nature such as improved memory, test scores and mood for students. A study
conducted in Barcelona Spain during 2012 2013 on students between the ages of seven to ten years
old yielded results that would accept the green space hypothesis. It was observed that students had a
year increase in working memory and a year reduction in inattentiveness when surrounded by a green
space (CITE). Plants were located at home, in the neighborhood, and in school therefore the students
were constantly exposed. The study linked the positive benefit between exposure to green space and
cognitive development amongst school children. Chris Mooney reflects upon this study in his article

20th Century Immigration
The immigration and migration of people has contributed to the American Identity and changed

american history in both positive and troubling ways. Alot happened during the Pre civil war that

Personal Ethics Vs Medical Ethics Essay
The two key differences between medical/ personal ethics and that of public ethics is who they are
responsible to and why. Starting with medical ethics, providing needed healthcare services to the
individual patient in an ethical and legal manner, operating under a developed and implemented code
of ethic guaranteed by a compliance program to help ensure it carries out its operations in a legal and
professional manner (Torrens, 2008). Personal ethics are based and conceived from the moral values

The Pros And Cons Of Usucapio Laws
In Roman law, usucapio laws allowed someone who was in possession of a good without title to
become the lawful proprietor if the original owner didn t show up after some time (one or two years),
unless the good was obtained illegally (by theft or force). Stemming from Roman law and its
successor, the Napoleonic Code, adopted as the basis of law in France, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg,
Portugal, Spain, and also, in part, by the Netherlands and Germany, adverse possession generally
recognizes two time periods for the acquisition of property: 30 years and some lesser time period,
depending on the bona fides of the possessor and the location of the parties involve. In the United

The person may not occupy the land secretively or make efforts to remain undetected. The occupation
must not be covert. It should be clear to any normal person who inspects the property that someone is
using the property in sort reasonable fashion. In other words, if the titled owner were to visit the
property, it would be apparent that another is making use of the land. Many states refer to inclosing
the property within a fence. A landowner is not required, however, to have actual knowledge of the
occupation. The person occupying the land must act as the owner by engaging in acts consistent with
the property s purpose. Such acts must generally be observed by others to be typical of that expected
of an owner. The actions of the disseisor must change the state of the land (in the case of non
residential property, taking such actions as clearing, mowing, planting, harvesting fruit of the land,
logging or cutting timber, mining, fencing, pulling tree stumps, running livestock and constructing
buildings or other improvements) or, if the property is residential, maintaining the property for its
intended use (taking such actions as mowing the yard, trimming trees and hedges, changing locks,
repairing or replacing fixtures such as a swimming pool, sprinkler system, or appliances), all to the
exclusion of its true owner. In Cone v. West Virginia Pulp Paper, the United States Court of Appeals
for the Fourth Circuit held that Cone failed to establish actual possession by occasionally visiting the

Archetypes In Life Of Pi
Introduction
Lead
To travel is to take a journey into yourself (Logothethis 1). We are the heroes of our own lives and are
given the opportunities to make decisions that will shape our own personal stories. Life of Pi is a
beautiful novel which fits Joseph Campbell s Monomyth (Hero s Journey) archetype, a pattern which
has been used to structure stories for generations from all around the world. Piscine Molitor Patel (Pi),
the protagonist of the novel, finds himself shaping his life, knowing that each mistake puts his survival
at stake. Yann Martel has written a breathtaking story about the voyage and erudition of Pi. He uses
the Monomyth archetype to show the measures one would take to survive, even if it requires putting

Miranda July Identity
English Final Essay: Identity
In our contemporary, we have the choice and the luxury to decide who and what we want to be.
Identity is a topic of great importance in some of our stories. Although, it is represented in a different
way. So we get to ask ourselves: Can we actually create our own roles and identity? First, it is present
in Nilda by Junot Diaz. Secondly, it appears in Something That Needs Nothing by Miranda July.
Lastly, misidentification is found in Amber Sweet by Adrian Tomine.
In the first place, we can see that the topic of identity is present in the story Nilda in Junot Diaz s book

The main character is a woman that is mistaken for Amber Sweet who is a really famous porn star that
looks exactly like her. Nowadays, people that look like they re the same person but in fact they don t
even know each other are called doppelgängers. So we can say that the protagonist is Amber Sweet s
doppelganger. Throughout the story, we see that the young lady s life has been affected by this
resemblance. When walking around, she always hears people whispering and giving her weird looks
or just laughing. Moreover, this resemblance also affected her dating life. The men she dates or has a
relationship with, either imagine having a relationship with Amber Sweet and picture the porn star
instead of the protagonist, or just compare her to the celebrity. The narrator feels very insecure about
herself and doesn t know how to react as we can see in the beginning of the story: It was just little
things like people looking at me funny or whispering when I walked by, but it was too much for me to
ignore. It got to the point where I couldn t set foot on campus without feeling completely self
conscious .(30) She keeps on struggling with this, even after moving and changing schools, trying to
be herself. But this does not help and her identity is still always mistaken for Amber Sweet, who the
narrator really isn t a big fan of but ends up liking her when they finally meet after she cut her hair. In
the story we can see that the protagonist s identity has been chosen for her and has been forced upon
her. She really does not have the choice to be what or who she really wants to

For the past decade, many companies have changed their way of using modern technologies.

Personal information and important data like bank accounts and e mails are vulnerable with
monitoring devices placed everywhere.
Another reason is the stress monitoring employees in the workplace can cause. More than 12 million
people are monitored by electronic surveillance at work causing a sharp rise in stress levels, according
to a survey by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI). Moreover, overly intrusive monitoring could decrease
productivity and potentially cause exhaustion and feelings of anxiety. The Security Director s Report
adds that surveillance can undermine morale and cause employees to resent management. It can foster
discord and instead of bridging the existing gaps between management and their employees,
surveillance activities may bring in more skepticisms and gaps.
But some people argue that putting such devices in offices will increase the performance of
employees. For example, employees can be distracted by websites that are non work related.
According to a Nielson Media Research study, employees allegedly logged into outlets such as
gaming websites and social media networks like Facebook or Twitter. Any kind of viruses or malware
could severely disrupt a business s day to day activities; this could become detrimental to productivity

Self Concept Through Interpersonal Communication Essay
I chose the topic of self concept through interpersonal communication because I had an interest in it.
This interest is because I didn t understand that one s self concept affected the way one is perceived by

communication affects one s self concept and how it affects one s perception One s self concept
affects one s perception, attitude and behavior, which can be demonstrated during the process of

If one has poor self concept and sees oneself as unworthy then they will present themselves this way,
which will result in a negative response from people. If one feels good about oneself, they will present
themselves as worthy, which will result in a more positive response from people. The perceptions,
beliefs and attitudes that steam from self concept, will affect one s social surroundings. One will either
come out of a situation with a positive or negative concept of these surroundings. Poor communication
can cause one to have a poor perception of oneself. One s emotional state, dislikes, likes values and
body image are affected by the opinions of others and can render one to have an inferior and insecure
self concept. How one communicates is also influenced by gender. Studies show that ones sex can
place a person in a gender role expectation. Women and Men communicate differently and because
sexual identity is defined through same sex parent or role model, women and men can get into gender
role expectations. These expectations influence their perception attitudes and behavior that will result
in a communication style. This early self concept can effect each one s interpersonal relations. Women

Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Has Been Found Throughout the...
Research has found that REM sleep has evolved to become part of the dreaming process otherwise
known as REM sleep dreaming. Sleep with electroencephalographic evidence of the brain shows that
a human s brain is awake during sleep because involuntary eye movement occurs. This occurs during
the dreaming consciousness every human possesses which is part of the secondary consciousness
every human has. There is also non REM sleep which is sleep that occurs without the rapid eye
movement. The importance of REM sleep and dreaming has been studied for many years and has
gradually become more informative. REM sleep is important for a human because it allows for
developmental brain growth which furthers the evolution of humans.
Rapid Eye Movement sleep is the process that allows for a person to recall what their dreams were
about. The periods in which Rapid Eye Movement occurs are known as phasic periods and those
periods that occur without Rapid Eye movement are known as tonic periods. Although people have
come to the understanding that dreaming and recollection occur during the REM sleep period, there
are still three theories as to how this occurs. The theories are: the scanning hypothesis, the activation
synthesis hypothesis, and the sensory image free association hypothesis. The scanning process reflects
the dreamer s voluntary watching of visual imagesduring the dreaming process. The activation
synthesis hypothesis puts into context that rapid eye movement occurs at the same

Competition between Dr. Who and Supernatural
In choosing between aliens and supernatural beings, the decision might be too difficult to make. But
when it comes to choosing between Doctor Who and Supernatural , Supernatural is the better of the
two. While both shows are good, Supernatural has more complexity of characters, a better soundtrack,
and presents conflicts better. To evaluate whether a show is worth losing my social life, I like to take
into consideration some factors of the show. The first and most important criterion is the characters. A
show s characters are supposed to be complex, not one dimensional characters that only serve one
purpose. Another criterion is if the soundtrack heightens the show s enjoyability. A show needs to have
a good soundtrack to enhance the show. The last criterion I use to evaluate a tv series is the way the
conflicts are presented. The conflicts are supposed to be connected but not be repetitive; if they are too
alike then the viewer will get bored. In Supernatural, the characters are better developed than in
Doctor Who; for example, Jo Harvelle. While in most shows a girl like Jo would have been portrayed
like someone who only thinks about boys, fashion, and other girly things, Supernatural does not
portrayed her like that. In Supernatural , Jo was first introduced as a rebellious teenager who is always
arguing with her mom, Ellen Harvelle, about her future. But unlike other shows, Ellen and Jo do not
argue about whom Jo marries; they argue about whether Jo

A Short Note On A Polymerase Chain Reaction ( Pcr ) Essay
My longest ongoing project began in October 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Daniela Vergara, a
postdoctoral researcher of the CGRI. Dr. Vergara guided another undergraduate student and me to
troubleshoot a protocol for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The objective of improving this
protocol was to analyze phylogenetic relationships between local samples by amplifying and
comparing a region of Tetrahydrocannabinol Acid (THCA) Synthase Gene. My colleague and I had
applied for the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program Grant, which funded our research and
allowed us to ascertain a successful protocol for this PCR and sequence the amplified region of THCA
Synthase Gene. However, near the end of our project, we learned another university s research team
published nearly the same work we were performing, which encouraged us to further our research
before publishing. As new data became available, we observed eleven copies of the THCA Synthase
Gene, which provided our research with a new goal to develop novel primer sets for each unique copy.
My colleague and I each developed a novel set of primers and protocols associated with those primers,
which has allowed us to map the phylogeny through the variation of these genes. Continuing to
develop this research, we are analyzing possible correlations between the variations of a certain
paralogs in relation to the phenotype or physical traits of the plant. We plan to publish the
phylogenetic relationships we discovered, as well as

The Anglo-Saxon Archetype Of Beowulf As An Epic Hero
BeaHero An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements
or affected by grand events. The epic hero of a story embarks on a quest in search of fame and glory,
and encounters challenges throughout their journey. No matter the adversity, the epic hero maintains
bravery and courage, never backing down. However, what the epic hero does not know is that the real
reason for a quest is always self knowledge (Foster 3). In the epic Beowulf, Anonymous employes the
affection of a king, bravery in battle, an eternal quest and a lasting legacy to show Beowulf as an epic
hero. Beowulf embodies the Anglo Saxon archetype of an epic hero. A key moment in the epic is
when king Hrothgar welcomes Beowulf to his kingdom and says But to table, Beowulf, a banquet in
your honor:/Let us toast your victories, and talk of the future (ll. 223 224). Here it is shown that even a
king is acknowledging Beowulf s bravery and is throwing him a feast, one of the highest honors a king
could bestow upon anyone, showing Hrothgar s great admiration for Beowulf. During the feast
Unferth questions Beowulf s honor but is shown to be a coward himself when Beowulf refutes his
claims and inspires king Hrothgar with a speech: The Geats will show him courage, soon/He can test
his strength in battle. And when the sun/Comes up again, opening another/Bright day from the south,

Galletta (2012) discusses that semi structured interviews give space for further discussion and an in
depth answer from the interviewee. Eight midwives were purposively recruited from eight Mother and
Child Health Centres in Oslo and a smaller town in in another part of Norway. Although the study
adopted this method it didn t allow for a true representation of midwives views across Norway and it
evidences a difference in the way the participants were recruited therefore there was a degree of
allocation bias as the midwives will clearly be working with different population groups, pregnant
women from a city and pregnant women from a small town. The paper does however state that the
recruitment process was carried out in that way to recruit midwives with different experiences and to
ensure diversity and socio economic statuses between the Mother and Child Health centres.
Data analysis that was undertaken was content analysis. Graneheim et al (2017) reports that qualitative

The Agrarian Revolt Of The 1920
The Agrarian revolt of the 1920 to 1926 in Naranja occurred well before all other regions of Mexico
could gather themselves and demand for such. It was a risky endeavor and it only succeeded because
of the historic precedent that favor the Tarascans of Naranja. From their pre conquistador contact
history to their post Diaz situation, the people of Naranja were pushed towards the front of the queue
of people with grievances toward the Mexican government. Their experiences also built up their moral
and courage to revolt despite the repercussions and the probability of backlash. Then finally, their
leaders, especially Primo Tapia, were uniquely prepared to take up the mantle and lead them to
victory. The people of Naranja, Michoacan were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people of Naranja were also nearly exclusively Indian (indigenous). There was even a common
but unspoken animosity towards mestizos and people of Spanish descent and origin. Fredrich had
mentioned that then and even now, there is the very occurrence of mixing of the Spanish and
indigenous blood in these parts. Like mentioned before most were illiterate in Spanish and they were
very set in their ways traditionally. The Spaniards had also ruled over the people indirectly via an
already established royal hierarchy in the region in the form of a cacique. Hence the people had had
little direct exposure to the Spanish (and later on Mexican) governing forces. The most influential
outsider was without a doubt the local priest. All these accumulated and made the Tarascan people an
isolated people that did not conform to societal expectations of submissiveness to authority or docility
in the presence of oppressive government regimes. Then the economic and social impacts of the
Spanish (or Mexican) government was also a great influencer in their decision to revolt at the time that
they did. During the Diaz era, some brothers were granted land in the area, near the lake. This land
was not given to these brothers with the consent of the people of Naranja, only their corrupt and

Keynes Versus Friedman
Keynes versus Friedman
To begin with, I would like to say that these to economists made perhaps the greatest and the most
significant contribution to economy in the twentieth century. They are beyond any doubt among most
powerful intellectuals that set their feet over the ground. Ideas they created, patterns they discovered
and laws they introduced have become fundamental in political economy and macroeconomics. Still,
these two brilliant minds did not share each others views over some basic economics matters, such as
the intensity of governmental regulations, price policy, fiscal and monetary politics. Quite logically, a
question arises: who was actually right, whose ideas explain the way economy behaves. In other
words, who is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one still argues that it was quite significant. In 1930 s it became quite clear, that the classical
interpretation of market theory was being quite ineffective. The economic system remained in the state
of stagnation for several years in a row and now positive tendencies were being observed. For some
lasting period of time government officials relied upon Adam Smyth, who ones claimed that market is
absolutely capable of self regulation. This was the time for Keynes s ideas to start working. He
claimed that in the long run unemployment can cast a deadly shadow over the economy. So, he
proposed a simple, though extreme solution to the problem: create numerous, even low effective jobs
just to keep people away from their problems and to keep them occupied. Then, take over control over
major companies and stimulate production to keep the funds circulating. Nationwide manipulation of
the interest rate is also a necessary point that is supposed to stimulate the banking sphere of the
country. These basic clues over government regulations in economy allowed the situation to start
improving fairly fast.
The full zenith of Keynes economic thought occurred toward the end of his career, when he
discovered the major mistake of classical economists, who held that, when goods were in surplus, the
best role of government was to allow wages and prices to fall, until equilibrium was resumed. Falling
prices would stimulate

Voter Id Laws Examples
We are currently in the midst of a historical presidential election. People are rallying in mass numbers
behind their presidential candidates, and come election time, they hope to have their candidate s
supporter s turnout to vote. However, other forces such as voter ID laws may already be hindering
their candidate chances by leading to a decrease in voter turnout rates. Thus, historically speaking,
voter ID laws have been prevented and appealed because of a specific provision in the Voting Right
Act of 1965. However, in 2013 the United States Supreme Court repealed Section 4 of the Voting
Rights Act. This specific provision laid out how any changes a states makes to their voting laws, must

proposal. For instance, while this research should present some insight into the impact of voter ID
laws, the fact remains that there is a limited number of election results that could demonstrate the true
range of impact that voter ID laws have on voter turnout rates. Therefore, future research will be able
to benefit from the increased volume of data on election results, and in return perhaps be able to build
on the results of this study. In addition to that, since I have a short time window for this project,
certain variables that might influence and also be contributing to lower voter turnouts will be left

How to Buy the Best Car Seat for your Child
One summer in 2016, in Tacoma, Washington, a woman was taking her 5 year old son to school,
coming along for the ride was her 2 year old son. While driving the mother lost control of her car and
swerved into a tree. The car was totaled and the side where her 2 year old was sitting was completely
caved in. Yet amazingly, no one was hurt, and the kids were fine. The 2 year old was saved by their car
seat, which absorbed all the impact of the crash. Had that car seat not been properly installed, the
family would have lost more than a car. The sad thing is scenarios like this happen every day, car
crashes are a reality of life, and sometimes they are your fault, sometimes the fault of the other driver.

It is basically a standardized installation system for car seats. If you see ISOFIX or LATCH on a car
seat, then you know it can easily install into most modern cars. In Canada it will also be known as
UAS (Universal Anchorage System).
The different types of car seat
Infant Car Seats
These are the first types of car seat you will buy for your child. They are designed to work with
newborns who weigh above 4 or 5 pounds, and will work until the baby reaches around 20 pounds.
These will be rear facing car seats.
Convertible Car Seats
These seats are designed to adopt as the child gets older. They start off working for infants (5 pounds
to 20 pounds) and then can be converted into forward facing car seats for toddlers (so basically
anywhere from 30 to 40 pounds).
Booster Seats
Booster seats are the last stage of car seat you will need to buy, they are meant for children in the 40
pound to 100 pound range. Most children can stop using booster seats around 8 years old. Taller
children can stop a bit earlier, around 6 or 7 years old.
Combination car seats
These car seats essentially act as 3 in 1 car seat. They can be used as a rear facing car seat for infants,
a forwards facing seat for older kids, and then finally they act as a booster

Redcrosse In The First Canto Of Edmund Spenser s The...
Though the desire for excitement and adventure lives in everyone, even if the definition for such
things varies for each person, it is safe to say there are some who are more inclined to achieve their
desires rather than watch them pass by. This inclination is a driving force that can, and often does, lead
to disastrous or unnecessary outcomes. In watching Redcrosse in the first canto of Edmund Spenser s,
The Faerie Queene, it is seen that humankind can be selfish and inconsiderate of who or what it may
affect. So much so that a sheltered, nursing mother is ultimately killed when all she was trying to do
was protect herself and her young. In the end, it was not the beast s fault for her and her young s peril;
it was the fault of Redcrosse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is hidden in darkness so that she may see no one, as well, as no one see her, but this is not what
Redcrosse had in mind. Instead of recognizing that he was the intruder and backing out, he made his
presence be known, startling Errour s young, which forced her to engage in physical defense and do
everything in her power to keep her family safe. The ensuing battle that led to the gory death of Errour
and her young, could have been prevented if only Redcrosse s decisions had not revolved around such
a narrow minded outlook. A family was destroyed by a blatant lack of judgement and disregard for
anything besides a selfish thirst for excitement that could have easily been obtained without the
resulting destruction.
There is no doubt Redcrosse deserved to have excitement and adventure in his life, but how he
obtained this was out of arrogance and ignorance. He caused many lives to be destroyed all because he
refused to believe there was any other way he could have achieved his desire. Without stopping to
think about the consequences of his selfishness, Redcrosse led his companions into danger, as well. He
refused to listen to their requests to turn around and go back from whence they came even after he was
made ware of where they were and what they

Internet Based Architecture And Its Impact On System...
1. The Internet has had an enormous impact on system architecture. (Rosenblatt, 2013, p.417). The
reward of selecting an Internet based architecture has the benefit of being able to assist the users with
daily business transactions in an environment that is online. The shift to Internet based collaboration
has been so powerful and compelling that it has been named Web 2.0. Web 2.0 envisions a second
generation of the Web that will enable people to collaborate, interact, and share information more
dynamically. (Rosenblatt, 2013, p.419). Also, with the Internet based architecture, the whole system is
on the web server, eliminating the need for a server/system. In an Internet based architecture, in

The information you want to tell to Gray is that by using a Web based marketing you can make the
advertising interactive, people would be able to access the site for all online transactions, and the
customer will be able to make comments to improve the overall business. The most important of that
point is the achievable expectation when we make the push for more internet marketing efforts, we
want to make attainable goals. The goals we set will show to Gray that Web marketing is the best way
for Personal Trainer to interact with their customers and have the ability to have our presence on the
internet. 3. For the point of sale transactions (POS), Personal Trainer will have hardware and software
requirements. For the hardware, a scanner will be needed to scan the item into the system. The scanner
should be able to either scan money amounts or barcodes that represent the item in the system. A
monitor would be required to see the items that are scanned and to verify the price of the item; if a
keyboard is not attached to the system, the monitor should also have a touchscreen. All these items
should be plugged into a system that will contain the software that should maintain the database for
inventory and sales. The software should be able to maintain a database that has all the items and
service that Personal Trainer will be able to provide. The database can maintain the inventory of items
that are being sold, along with historical data

Barneys Marketing Plan
BARNEYS MARKETING PLAN Executive summary Barneys is planning to extend the target
market by embracing budget fashionistas as well as current target customers who are fashion
connoisseurs with a high disposable income and cutting edge taste. It is because, according to
Spending Pulse, Sales of luxury goods fell 27.6% in December 2009 compared with December 2008
including credit cards and cash. The pullback in luxury spending due to the deteriorating economy
brought about a sharp slowdown and a torrent of extraordinary markdowns last year. The competitors
including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus have been saddled with excess
inventories and double digit sales decrease. In order to do extend target market, Barneys ... Show more

žStrengths: Hip image of providing unique mix of established designers and new costumers Private
labels allowing full control and high markups Co op offering chances to draw budget fashionistas with
its young, experimental, downtown feel merchandise Good store locations appealing to both tourists
and locals žWeaknesses: Aggressive expansion strategy derived from the new owner s desire to
recoup the investment: this has greatly increased expenses for opening stores. Lack of leadership: The
former president and chief executive, Howard Socol, resigned in 2008 July and hasn t yet to be
replaced. Taste level which is not widely accepted: with its cutting edge image, Barneys has a
narrower appeal and customer base than other luxury department stores. žOpportunities: Growing
trends towards contemporary apparel and accessories: customers started to look for practical and

Clockwork Orange Analysis
A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 crime film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on
Anthony Burgess s 1962 novel of the same name. It is a violent and disturbing film but somehow
fascinating and enjoyable at the same time. The film presents scenes of rape, physical violence and
murder because Kubrick wants to show the audience that these crimes are sickening but it s combined
with wonderful music and dance, which makes the film surreal and even funny.
Essentially it s a story focused on a British teenage, Alex DeLarge who is the leader of a 3 member
gang called droogs . Alex and his droogs spend their nights getting high on milk and then go out to
commit crimes. They carry out all sorts of crimes from rape to murder and robbery. The droogs want
to have a say in the crimes they commit but Alex asserts his authority by attacking them.
One night, things go wrong and the droogs betray Alex because they are sick of him bossing them
around. Alex gets caught by the police and is sentenced to 14 years in prison.
After two years in prison, Alex asks to be a part of an experiment; a therapy rehabilitating criminals
within two weeks but little does he know about the treatment. The treatment is essentially torture. He
is strapped to a chair, injected with drugs and forced to watch violent films with his eyes propped
open, which makes him feel sick and diseased. The government truly believed that this treatment
technique would cut down crimes.
At the end of two weeks, the treatment is over and the Minister wants to prove people that Alex is now
cured. He gathers people to put Alex through a test and Alex is unable to fight against the attacks and
feels sick when he sees a naked woman. For that reason, Alex is out as a free man and things get
worse outside.
The film is a protest against mind manipulations and political problems as well as social problems.
University of the Arts London Archive opened in 2007 and contains materials collected and owned by
the film director Stanley Kubrick. His family transferred it from his home in 2007 through a gift. It
contains much of Kubrick s working material that was accumulated during his lifetime.

The Super Power s Role in Fueling the Dispute in the...
The Middle East is a region to which the superpowers attached great significance and in which they
evidenced great attention. The United States and the Soviet Union became the main external powers of
significance in the Middle East in the period since the end of World War II but mostly since the mid
1950s and the withdrawal of British and French influence from the region. The superpowers had
conflicting and similar interests and their policies often clashed, but they avoided direct conflict while
their respective clients were occupied in war. The Arab League, an organisation that represented all of
the Arab countries, promised its support for Nasser and Arab enmity towards Israel amplified still
further. There were also key changes in other parts of the Middle East, which had conventionally
supported the West. The pro western system in Iraq was overthrown in 1958 and Syria and Libya both
began to look to the Soviet Union for military aid. In 1958 Syria and Egypt created the United Arab
Republic, this lasted for three years until a revolution in Syria in 1961. Nasser had hoped that this
would be the foundation for the Pan Arab movement that he dreamed of. In 1964 Nasser supported the
starting up of the Palestine Liberation organisation. A few incidents, such as the Suez Crisis led to
Superpower involvement in the Middle East on a large scale. From being a Middle Eastern concern,
relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors became a potential global crisis point. To try to

The Effects Of Down Syndrome On The Body
Down syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects several people. Chances are, you have met or have
seen somebody living with down syndrome. Down syndrome is caused when an individual has a full
or partial copy of chromosome 21. This additional piece of genetic makeup leads to changes
throughout the body. Some of the notable changes are having a low muscle tone, small stature, an
upward slant to the eyes, and a deep crevice in the center of the palm. Down syndrome does not affect
one single part of the body, it affects the whole body.
Down syndrome has many affects on the body. These affects are having a distinct facial appearance,
some intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, learning disabilities, short stature, and speech

Reflection About Korean Music
There were many things going on within week three because this class is coming close to the end,
unfortunately. As I reflected back, I wished this class could be a semester long course, yet I could not
control the situation. With this short period of time, I felt like I learned about Korean society that I
never knew before. Prior to this class, I had never observed Korean society from the traditional
perspective. However, I had a chance to explore traditional Korean music within this week. There
were guests coming to show Korean traditional instruments (piri and haegeun), and perform pansori,
traditional Korean opera. In addition to the guests, I also had a chance to view one of the most popular
Korean movie directed by Kim Ki duk, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring. Thanks to this
week s agenda, I was able to experience the traditional side of Korea, which I ... Show more content

During the students orientation, I was impressed by the pansori performance. It was something that I
had never seen before, yet I was addicted to it. How I am going to see the performance again? I did
not get a chance to absorb to pansori. Luckily, the professor invited the pansori performers to the class
again. This time I understood more about pansori because the performers explained the story line, and
they even answer the questions that people asked. Although I did not know what the performers were
saying, I could understand story through their expressions and actions. I cannot understand what they
were saying, yet I felt so attach to the performance, and some people who could understand the
language found the performance boring. Meaning, in society, people forget to appreciate what they
have, sometimes. After seeing this performance, I just want to see more of the pansori performances. I
could tell that these young performers really have the passion to spread pansori and Korean culture
nationally and

The Two Main Types Of International Organizations
International organizations have been noted to be around since the mid 19th century and such
organizations do not operate for profit. An international organization is defined by the United Nations
as an organization with an international membership, scope, or presence. The main objective of all the
international organizations they say ,have usually been welfare and the improvement of member
countries through cooperation. Karns and Mingst identify the two main types of international
organizations as IGOs and INGOs which they also refer to as international and transnational structures
who are actors in global governance. Global governance, they say, are the cooperative problem
solving arrangements and activities that states and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They employ limited resources to make rules, set standards, procreate principles and broadly represent
more humanity than states and other actors do. There are many kinds of NGOs such as transnational,
government organized, government regulated and initiated, business and industry, donor organized,
donor dominated, people s organizations, operational, advocacy, transnational social movements,
quasi, and anti governmental NGOs. Their number increased (more than 23,000 in the early 1990s)
and their effectiveness for transnational politics became more relevant in recent decades. They have
become crucial participants in the international policy process says Brown (1995). Some INGOs are
formed to advocate a particular cause such as human rights, peace, or environmental protection. While
others are established to provide services such as disaster relief, humanitarian aid in war torn societies,
or development assistance. Many INGOs are transnational federations involving formal, long term
links among national groups. Examples include the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies, the World Wildlife Fund, Transparency International, Human Rights Watch,
Amnesty International, and Save the Children. INGOs governance functions parallel many functions
provided by IGOs and, like IGOs, they can be analyzed as both pieces of and actors in global
governance. As pieces of governance, INGOs

  • 2. Attenuation Types Of Photon Energy The CBCT is relatively recent technology, with the first commercial scanner being introduced in 1998 for dental imaging (87) This is a type of CT that uses a cone X ray beam instead of the conventional fan beam (88). For standard full field of view for CBCT, polychromatic X rays are generated from a source tube excited by 100 120 kV tube potential with 1.5 10 mA current (89). The emitted X ray photon energy is absorbed by materials located be¬tween the X ray source and detector. The remaining energy after absorption is recorded on a detector as expressed by intensity (I) that represents energy per area and time. For example, the flat panel detector consists of a pixel array of hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin film transistors (88). A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1. Larger detectors have a greater chance of encountering the scattered X ray pho¬tons leading to streak artefacts during reconstruction pro¬cess for the CBCT image (90). Beam hardening occur as the energy levels of polychromatic X ray beams used in the CBCT are not identical, the lower energy photons can be easily absorbed at the edges of the scanned subject resulting in hardening of the X ray beam, which produces lower gray values toward the center of the subject (cup¬ping artifact) even if the density of the subject is homoge¬nous (91) Defects or un calibrated components in the detector may cause ring artefacts with concentric rings in the CBCT im¬age. Scanning dense metallic materials can cause severe streaking artifacts when their gray values exceed the maxi mum level of operation that the software can handle (91). Shading or streaking artefacts may be observed when the gray values are incorrectly registered due to patient motion during CBCT scanning (90,91) This artefact com¬monly appears as double contours in the CBCT image. To date, CBCT based BMD measurement has been used mainly to estimate bone properties for dental implanta¬tion (92). The BMD measured from CBCT images showed a better predicting power to estimate cortical bone frac¬ture than assessed by the conventional DXA images (93). Bigelow s Use Of Mise-En-Scene In The Hurt Locker In Kathryn Bigelow s film, The Hurt Locker, the director utilizes Mise En Scene to create a constant presence of danger and unease throughout the film. With the goal to show the horrific reality of war, Bigelow used specific elements such as characters outfits, lighting, types of camera techniques, setting and overall pacing are the directors strongest weapons in creating the pressing tension felt in her film. James, the films main character is the lens which Bigelow uses to show the audience the pain that war causes for both sides of the fight. Bigelow shows how war can change someone so much, altering them to the point to where they no longer feel welcome upon their return. James is thrown in between the warzone and a presumably American supermarket, where shock and sterility is felt, contrasting the two worlds that James is a part of. James is surrounded by poverty and suffering while in Iraq, a result of the war that he is fighting in. When it cuts to the supermarket, James is clean in civilian clothing and surrounding by a cornucopia of food. The lighting is also used to show the difference between the two places. Iraq is a place covered in a layer of dirt and sand while the supermarket is a stark bright white, showing off the cleanliness of the land. Right before it cuts to the supermarket scene James is riding in the car in the dark, making the viewer focus on what is shown and making it feel controlled. Then when it shifts to the supermarket, we are greeted with a sense of lost when presented with the seemingly endless rows of food. The elements of brightness, color, dress and pace create conflict with each other. The audience can tell that while Iraq is a chaotic mess, James is happy in it because it is his identity. Back in America he has no purpose, no drive. Like many veterans, the surrealistic nature that is felt upon leaving war is impressed onto the audience and we to begin to understand the feeling of alienation in one s own home. We are given a glimpse into what the horrors of conflict due to a solider and what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ufo Conspiracy Research Paper The Truth is Out There The truth behind the UFO conspiracy In this chapter, an event in the 1980 s was portrayed wherein American people claimed to have seen an unexplained object in the sky. The government said that based on their investigations, it was a UFO due to alien visitations. However, the claim of the government was just a giant cover up. The entry of UFO in the world that the American government spread to the public was just a fake conspiracy to mislead the people. It is not a UFO but a high technology weapon prepared by the government to ensure that they can be at least on the same strength as the growing strength of the Soviet Union. As much as possible, the American government want to keep the high technology weapon as a secret but they could not keep it away from the eyes of the public that is ... The Commission on Global Governance (2005) defined global governance as the sum of the many ways individuals and institutions, public and private, manage their common affairs; it is a continuing process through which conflicting or diverse interests may be accommodated and cooperative action may be taken . The perception management which mislead the people from the complexities of reality that the American government adopted in 1980 s, do not conform with the definition of global governance since it includes the individuals as an actor that has to be involved with the process of conflict resolution. Since global governance is synonymous to international organizations, this imply that it is the IOs responsibility to ensure that global governance is being adopted across the globe. We cannot fully relate the case of the UFO conspiracy to the Philippines since we have to consider that the country could not afford creating such kind of technology so what I tried to analyze here is the perception management that the American government used to mislead the people from the complexities of ... Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions... 1 .1 Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions The beginning The beginning of the counselling process starts when the client first meets the counsellor, the saying first impressions count is absolutely true for both the client and counsellor, the client will be very nervous and unsure what is about to take place. The way the counsellor approaches the client in this infant stage is vital for the client to gain trust and has the willingness to open up in later sessions. Some clients may just rush into what is troubling them or say nothing, in both cases the counsellor will need to be patient, observe and listen to what is being said as there will be vital information given and without understanding this it could damage ... The Client may hold back what they are feeling until they have gained the trust of the counsellor, and know they are safe and in a confidential environment. Another important factor in the opening stage is to draw up a contract and discuss the content with the client, this will demonstrate it s a working relationship and both the client and counsellor will know their barriers, it also gives structure and prevents any misunderstanding in the relationship. By having a contract it demonstrates to the client they are safe and able to speak freely also it shows the client that each session if totally confidential, there are exceptions to the rule and these will be included in the contract and what the process will be if they disclose anything that is unlawful. Having unconditional positive regard from the beginning will display to the client there is no hidden agenda and that the counsellor is non judgmental, this will support the client to develop the working relationship and show the client they are valued and wanted, they will start to relax to open up freely and loosen up their attitude towards the session. 1.3 ... • 6. The Principle Of The Glandular Fever Test 1) What is the organism responsible for the occurrence of IM? What patient group is mainly affected? The organism responsible for the occurrence of IM is the Epstein Barr virus (EBV). This virus belongs to the Herpes group and was first identified in cultured cells from biopsies of Burkitt s Lymphoma. The patient group that is mainly affected are 15 to 25 year olds. Infants and younger children have been affected, but the virus is very rarely found in middle aged or elderly people. 2) Explain the principle of the glandular fever test. A patient sample is added to an absorbent pad on the test strip which contains bovine erythrocyte glycoprotein. The patient sample mobilises the blue microspheres that are contained in the test strip and they move up the strip. The test strip contains a region of immobilised bovine erythrocyte glycoprotein in the result window. If any IM heterophile antibodies are present in the specimen, then a blue line should appear in the result window. The Clearview IM test strips used in the laboratory provides an integrated control feature. 3) What is a heterophile antibody? A heterophile antibody is an antibody produced in one species that reacts with the cells from another unrelated species. These antibodies, which are IgM in nature, are not specific for sheep red cells but also react with horse and ox, but NOT human, red cells. 4) What are atypical lymphocytes and how do they appear on: a) blood film, b) graphics plot? a) On a blood ... Macbeth Consequences Every action has a consequence Every action has a consequence, this statement relates to Shakespeare s play Macbeth , as Macbeth is a tragic hero who destroys himself by his own wicked and selfish ambitions. At the beginning of the play Macbeth is portrayed as a courageous, noble hero of Scotland who has bravely won victory over the war. After this win, Macbeth and Banquo come across three supernatural beings who prophesies Macbeth s rein as king of Scotland. As the story unfolds, the witches prophecy is proven to be correct and Macbeth soon becomes a tyrant king who is willing to murder anyone who will bring his rein to an end. Macbeth s spouse, lady Macbeth is also shown destroying her reputation of a noble woman through her barbaric actions. The statement every action has a consequence also correlates to the film the lion king directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff. The similarities of scars reckless actions to lead Simba and Mufasa (the king) into a stampede of wildebeests that ended in the death of Mufasa, is what led to scars downfall and death. Therefore, Shakespeare play Macbeth implements the statement every action has a consequence through various ways, many similar to the film the lion king. In all areas of business there is an urgent and significant need for process to be written and verified. It is not enough that a person who completes a task or process on a daily basis documents what one believes is done on a regular basis to address the needs of the organization, but that there needs to be a quality measurement that verifies that the information that has been provided is not only correct, but also effective. It is not surprising that we often find ourselves drawn in and influenced by the manipulative skills of well organized syllables and strong punctuation. Political rallies are in no shortage of examples of the prowess of semiotics. We use them to speak our minds, to spread the truth, to satirize other s opinions, and to fabricate our own. As human beings we are not unused to the idea that politics often involves tricky rhetoric and verbal wordplay in efforts to persuade us. Semiotics influences signs by modifying the way we see them when certain aspects are changed or enhanced to convey or evoke certain meanings or feelings, when words are italicized or bolded our eyes immediately focus more on them than the other words, when messages are presented to us in strange or noticeable fonts we are drawn to them, they stick in our minds, they make a certain impact. As Ferdinand de Saussure stated and is quoted on a University of Vermont educational website, All signs have two aspects: the signifier and the signified. The signifier is any material thing that signifies, e.g., words on a page, a facial expression, a picture, a bit of graffiti. The signified is the concept that a signifier refers to. In most cases the signified is in relation to the signifier in order to ensure the signified is able to relate to it s signifier. I/e, men smoking looking as though they are enjoying themselves, the signifier is the man smoking the cigarette, and the man, and the cigarette, seeking to signify men or masculinity (Saussure p.2). The same is applied to political signs, in relation the creator of the sign seeks to put emphasis on something that they wish the audience to connect the main idea of their sign too. • 12. Smart Grids Technologies Can Be Put Into Four Functional... Generally, smart grids technologies can be put into four functional categories: Information collectors; information assemblers, displayers, and assessors; information based controllers and energy resources. Smart grids collected data from various types of sensors. These sensors measure performance related characteristics of electricity system components. Assessors are used to analysis and display the information they received from the devices. The information based controllers devices will use the information that they received to control the other devices behavior to achieve the goal. Energy or power resources include the technologies that can used to generate, store, or reduce demand for electricity. However, renewable energy sources have been used in so many countries to reduce CO2 emissions and provide sustainable electrical power. The power electronic interface between a renewable energy source and the grid can be used to control reactive power output and hence the network voltage as well as curtailing real power output, and so enable the generator to respond to the requirements of the grid. Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is one of the smart grid technologies that have been used in many homes and business. Their objective is to enable to let the users can use wattage readers to check how much juice their appliances and gadgets use. Moses answered the people, Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him, being always in your mind, may keep you from sinning b. The quote is significant because it explains how God works. Moses is talking to the people who fear the peals of thunder on the mountain and lightning flashes. They were also scared of the loud sound of the trumpet and the smoking mountain. Basically, Moses is telling them not to fear and that God is just testing them. He explains that God is hoping that if they are afraid, then they will not sin. I think this is important when believing in monotheism because there is only one God. • 15. Essay on Theory Of Knowledge Theory Of Knowledge In today s society, science is regarded as being the most trusted form of knowledge, leading to many claiming it to be the supreme form of knowledge. To investigate whether or not this is justified we must compare science to other forms/areas of knowledge and consider what they each contribute. The strongest argument science has to claim this title, is the objectivity and empirical nature of its method and in particular its verifying processes; mainly based on inductive and deductive reasoning. Modern science is closely related to inductive reasoning and is presented as a distinctive feature of scientific activity today. Induction works by verification: correspondence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most prolific of these adapted verification processes are the Hypothetico deductive model, a modern formulation associated with famous scientists such as Popper and Hemple. It works by using a combination of both verification techniques, claiming that what distinguishes scientific hypothesis from a non scientific hypothesis is not its origin, but the formers capacity to stand up to testing. The name comes from the claim that the starting point is the hypothesis, from which we can predict that particular events will occur under particular circumstances. This prediction is a deduction from the initial hypothesis, and if events occur as predicted then the hypothesis is confirmed. Confirmation of the hypothesis is inductive, simply because if the hypothesis holds true x number of times, we claim that it always will hold true. This confirmation of the hypothesis process is the part of the model that encompasses inductive reasoning, as when using this method one only has access to a limited number of events. Although the Hypothetico model was developed to incorporate advantages of both types of verifications, by using inductive reasoning as confirmation processes, it is still affected by the fundamental flaws of inductivism and basic criticism of the original scientific model. Although the company is performing well, there is dissent amongst managers, VP s and employees which is spreading rapidly. The underlying issue is Bob Lazier who has not done a good job demonstrating his vision for the company and implementing a corporate culture that complements this vision. Therefore, in this analysis it will be recommended that Bob implement not only performance metrics that measure employee satisfaction such as quarterly surveys but also implement rewards such as employee of the month in order to increase morale. Further, LI will look to invest in its employees in order to increase productivity in the long run. Introduction The first object Bob Lazier undertook as the new CEO of Lazier Industries, was to implement a strategic plan that focused on introducing several new products which could be cross sold to LI s existing customer base. Many advantages are hypothesized to be a result of spending more time in nature such as improved memory, test scores and mood for students. A study conducted in Barcelona Spain during 2012 2013 on students between the ages of seven to ten years old yielded results that would accept the green space hypothesis. It was observed that students had a year increase in working memory and a year reduction in inattentiveness when surrounded by a green space (CITE). Plants were located at home, in the neighborhood, and in school therefore the students were constantly exposed. The study linked the positive benefit between exposure to green space and cognitive development amongst school children. There is also non REM sleep which is sleep that occurs without the rapid eye movement. The importance of REM sleep and dreaming has been studied for many years and has gradually become more informative. Rapid Eye Movement sleep is the process that allows for a person to recall what their dreams were about. The periods in which Rapid Eye Movement occurs are known as phasic periods and those periods that occur without Rapid Eye movement are known as tonic periods. Although people have come to the understanding that dreaming and recollection occur during the REM sleep period, there are still three theories as to how this occurs. • 28. Competition between Dr. Who and Supernatural In choosing between aliens and supernatural beings, the decision might be too difficult to make. But when it comes to choosing between Doctor Who and Supernatural , Supernatural is the better of the two. While both shows are good, Supernatural has more complexity of characters, a better soundtrack, and presents conflicts better. To evaluate whether a show is worth losing my social life, I like to take into consideration some factors of the show. The first and most important criterion is the characters. A show s characters are supposed to be complex, not one dimensional characters that only serve one purpose. Another criterion is if the soundtrack heightens the show s enjoyability. A show needs to have a good soundtrack to enhance the show. The last criterion I use to evaluate a tv series is the way the conflicts are presented. The conflicts are supposed to be connected but not be repetitive; if they are too alike then the viewer will get bored. In Supernatural, the characters are better developed than in Doctor Who; for example, Jo Harvelle. While in most shows a girl like Jo would have been portrayed like someone who only thinks about boys, fashion, and other girly things, Supernatural does not portrayed her like that. In Supernatural , Jo was first introduced as a rebellious teenager who is always arguing with her mom, Ellen Harvelle, about her future. The epic hero of a story embarks on a quest in search of fame and glory, and encounters challenges throughout their journey. No matter the adversity, the epic hero maintains bravery and courage, never backing down. However, what the epic hero does not know is that the real reason for a quest is always self knowledge (Foster 3). In the epic Beowulf, Anonymous employes the affection of a king, bravery in battle, an eternal quest and a lasting legacy to show Beowulf as an epic hero. Beowulf embodies the Anglo Saxon archetype of an epic hero. A key moment in the epic is when king Hrothgar welcomes Beowulf to his kingdom and says But to table, Beowulf, a banquet in your honor:/Let us toast your victories, and talk of the future (ll. 223 224). Here it is shown that even a king is acknowledging Beowulf s bravery and is throwing him a feast, one of the highest honors a king could bestow upon anyone, showing Hrothgar s great admiration for Beowulf. Quite logically, a question arises: who was actually right, whose ideas explain the way economy behaves. In other words, who is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one still argues that it was quite significant. In 1930 s it became quite clear, that the classical interpretation of market theory was being quite ineffective. The economic system remained in the state of stagnation for several years in a row and now positive tendencies were being observed. For some lasting period of time government officials relied upon Adam Smyth, who ones claimed that market is absolutely capable of self regulation. This was the time for Keynes s ideas to start working. He claimed that in the long run unemployment can cast a deadly shadow over the economy. So, he proposed a simple, though extreme solution to the problem: create numerous, even low effective jobs just to keep people away from their problems and to keep them occupied. Then, take over control over major companies and stimulate production to keep the funds circulating. Nationwide manipulation of the interest rate is also a necessary point that is supposed to stimulate the banking sphere of the country. These basic clues over government regulations in economy allowed the situation to start improving fairly fast. The full zenith of Keynes economic thought occurred toward the end of his career, when he discovered the major mistake of classical economists, who held that, when goods were in surplus, the best role of government was to allow wages and prices to fall, until equilibrium was resumed. • 39. Voter Id Laws Examples We are currently in the midst of a historical presidential election. People are rallying in mass numbers behind their presidential candidates, and come election time, they hope to have their candidate s supporter s turnout to vote. However, other forces such as voter ID laws may already be hindering their candidate chances by leading to a decrease in voter turnout rates. Thus, historically speaking, voter ID laws have been prevented and appealed because of a specific provision in the Voting Right Act of 1965. However, in 2013 the United States Supreme Court repealed Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act. This specific provision laid out how any changes a states makes to their voting laws, must be accepted and passed by the federal government in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to that, understanding how voter ID laws may impact election results, will in return, contribute to the efforts that aim to understand the agenda behind the recent and rapid spread of such laws. Thus, if my results are what I think they will be then voter ID laws will be known for what they really are, an attempt at voter oppression. Moreover, there certainly are limitations to this research proposal. For instance, while this research should present some insight into the impact of voter ID laws, the fact remains that there is a limited number of election results that could demonstrate the true range of impact that voter ID laws have on voter turnout rates. Therefore, future research will be able to benefit from the increased volume of data on election results, and in return perhaps be able to build on the results of this study. In addition to that, since I have a short time window for this project, certain variables that might influence and also be contributing to lower voter turnouts will be left ... • 41. Redcrosse In The First Canto Of Edmund Spenser s The... Though the desire for excitement and adventure lives in everyone, even if the definition for such things varies for each person, it is safe to say there are some who are more inclined to achieve their desires rather than watch them pass by. This inclination is a driving force that can, and often does, lead to disastrous or unnecessary outcomes. In watching Redcrosse in the first canto of Edmund Spenser s, The Faerie Queene, it is seen that humankind can be selfish and inconsiderate of who or what it may affect. So much so that a sheltered, nursing mother is ultimately killed when all she was trying to do was protect herself and her young. She is hidden in darkness so that she may see no one, as well, as no one see her, but this is not what Redcrosse had in mind. Instead of recognizing that he was the intruder and backing out, he made his presence be known, startling Errour s young, which forced her to engage in physical defense and do everything in her power to keep her family safe. The ensuing battle that led to the gory death of Errour and her young, could have been prevented if only Redcrosse s decisions had not revolved around such a narrow minded outlook. A family was destroyed by a blatant lack of judgement and disregard for anything besides a selfish thirst for excitement that could have easily been obtained without the resulting destruction. There is no doubt Redcrosse deserved to have excitement and adventure in his life, but how he obtained this was out of arrogance and ignorance. He caused many lives to be destroyed all because he refused to believe there was any other way he could have achieved his desire. Without stopping to think about the consequences of his selfishness, Redcrosse led his companions into danger, as well. He refused to listen to their requests to turn around and go back from whence they came even after he was made ware of where they were and what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Clockwork Orange Analysis A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 crime film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on Anthony Burgess s 1962 novel of the same name. It is a violent and disturbing film but somehow fascinating and enjoyable at the same time. The film presents scenes of rape, physical violence and murder because Kubrick wants to show the audience that these crimes are sickening but it s combined with wonderful music and dance, which makes the film surreal and even funny. Essentially it s a story focused on a British teenage, Alex DeLarge who is the leader of a 3 member gang called droogs . Alex and his droogs spend their nights getting high on milk and then go out to commit crimes. They carry out all sorts of crimes from rape to murder and robbery. The droogs want to have a say in the crimes they commit but Alex asserts his authority by attacking them. One night, things go wrong and the droogs betray Alex because they are sick of him bossing them around. Alex gets caught by the police and is sentenced to 14 years in prison. After two years in prison, Alex asks to be a part of an experiment; a therapy rehabilitating criminals within two weeks but little does he know about the treatment. The treatment is essentially torture. He is strapped to a chair, injected with drugs and forced to watch violent films with his eyes propped open, which makes him feel sick and diseased. The government truly believed that this treatment technique would cut down crimes. At the end of two weeks, the treatment is over and the Minister wants to prove people that Alex is now cured. He gathers people to put Alex through a test and Alex is unable to fight against the attacks and feels sick when he sees a naked woman. For that reason, Alex is out as a free man and things get worse outside. The film is a protest against mind manipulations and political problems as well as social problems. University of the Arts London Archive opened in 2007 and contains materials collected and owned by the film director Stanley Kubrick. His family transferred it from his home in 2007 through a gift. • 45. The Super Power s Role in Fueling the Dispute in the... The Middle East is a region to which the superpowers attached great significance and in which they evidenced great attention. The United States and the Soviet Union became the main external powers of significance in the Middle East in the period since the end of World War II but mostly since the mid 1950s and the withdrawal of British and French influence from the region. The superpowers had conflicting and similar interests and their policies often clashed, but they avoided direct conflict while their respective clients were occupied in war. The Arab League, an organisation that represented all of the Arab countries, promised its support for Nasser and Arab enmity towards Israel amplified still further. There were also key changes in other parts of the Middle East, which had conventionally supported the West. The pro western system in Iraq was overthrown in 1958 and Syria and Libya both began to look to the Soviet Union for military aid. In 1958 Syria and Egypt created the United Arab Republic, this lasted for three years until a revolution in Syria in 1961. Nasser had hoped that this would be the foundation for the Pan Arab movement that he dreamed of. In 1964 Nasser supported the starting up of the Palestine Liberation organisation. A few incidents, such as the Suez Crisis led to Superpower involvement in the Middle East on a large scale. From being a Middle Eastern concern, relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors became a potential global crisis point. To try to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I reflected back, I wished this class could be a semester long course, yet I could not control the situation. With this short period of time, I felt like I learned about Korean society that I never knew before. Prior to this class, I had never observed Korean society from the traditional perspective. However, I had a chance to explore traditional Korean music within this week.
