promotion or oversimplification.
To begin with, one must acknowledge the multifaceted nature of essay composition. It requires
not only a firm grasp of the chosen topic but also proficiency in structuring arguments,
conducting research, and adhering to academic conventions. Moreover, there's the added
pressure of tailoring the essay to suit the needs and expectations of a college-level audience,
which often entails a higher degree of critical analysis and original thought.
Additionally, addressing the concept of seeking help with college essays introduces a layer of
introspection. It necessitates an exploration of one's own experiences and challenges in the
writing process, as well as a candid discussion of the various resources and strategies available

requiring writers to strike a balance between vulnerability and self-assurance.
Furthermore, there's the challenge of maintaining a tone that is informative yet engaging,
authoritative yet approachable. Striking this balance is essential for effectively conveying
information while also establishing credibility and rapport with the audience. It requires careful
consideration of language, tone, and rhetorical devices to ensure that the essay resonates with
readers on both an intellectual and emotional level.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "Help Writing College Essay" demands a
nuanced approach that acknowledges the complexities of the writing process while also
providing practical guidance and insight. It requires writers to navigate a delicate balance
between self-reflection and scholarly analysis, all while maintaining a tone that is both
informative and engaging. However, despite its challenges, such an essay offers an opportunity
for personal growth and the sharing of valuable knowledge and experiences.

Voting Essay
Voting allows the voices of the people to be heard. However, this has not always
been a privilege for everyone. Voting first happened around 1776. When the right to
vote was first given to the people, only white landowners were allowed to vote. By
1788 slaves were counted as в…— of a person. The Dred Scott v. Stanford court case
ruled that slaves are property and have no rights. A black man has no rights a white
man is bound to respect. This ruling increased tensions leading into the civil war.
This deprived African Americans even more to the right to citizenship. The 15th
amendment was ratified in 1870, which granted black males the right to vote. When
the 19th amendment was ratified in 1920, all citizens were allowed to vote regardless

Votingis supposed to allow everyone the opportunity to voice their opinion, but
with these new laws, such as presenting a photo ID, everyone is not getting a say
so, so the votes aren t accurate. The new law of having a photo ID to vote also
affects transgenders. Many people who have transitioned themselves haven t updated
their ID and have a picture with their original sex. Those who transitioned have no
documents or records with their current gender listed. This new law makes it harder
for them because their information isn t updated, and because of this they aren t
allowed to vote. This also makes the votes inaccurate because there are about 25,000
transgenders who aren t getting their say so.
The government is trying to cut early voting, which plays a part in voter
suppression. Early voting allows those with disabilities and those who have jobs
get their votes in while they have time and before the lines get to crazy. Cutting
early voting leads to longer lines, which may cause fewer people to vote. Many
people leave in frustration due to how long the lines may be. Since 2011 various
states have cut back on voting due to politicians leading these attempts for
supportive gain. In 2012 Florida cut voting down from 14 days to eight. In 2013
North Carolina cut voting down from 17 days to 10. Based on statics between the
years of 2008 and 2012 around 70% of blacks took advantage of voting early. In
The Importance Of Same Sex Relationships In The
Catholic...
Same Sex relationships are and always have always been frowned upon in the eyes
of the Church. The Catholic Church takes a very strict approach to their view on
same sex relationships. Despite Pope Francis taking a tolerant stance on same sex
marriage, the banning of marriage throughout the Catholic church still causes
negative feelings through the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and queer
communities. For the Church to gain the full approval of these communities some
major changes need to be made. The Church needs to take a more modernized
approach to dealing with same sex relationships and to look fully into each individual
s self fulfillment.
The Bishops teaching is based The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith. The
Church is very non accepting of homosexual actions and desires and makes clear
that if a person is just naturally feeling this way is must be a disorder. The
Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith states, [Homosexual actions] were described
as deprived of their essential and indispensable finality, as being intrinsically
disordered , and able in no case to be approved of. The Church is giving their views
solely and not taking into the account that it is not one general answer to the perfect
lifestyle .
The Congregation of faith makes it very clear that being homosexual is indeed not a
morally accepted option. Their leverage is that the Holy Bible has verses specifically
against homosexuality and being acceptable of anything related to them. They

health insurance plans are great, but we will be focusing on the plan with lower

organized system of health care that offers medical services to its members on a

to keep low costs and maximize the quality care provided. There are several types of
HMOs that are available: staff model, group model, network model and individual

Industry analysis:
The restaurant industry was projected to have $604 Billion sales in 2011, which is
approximately 4 percent of the projected total GDP of the United States according to
the estimate from National Restaurant Association. The industry has been expanding
since the 1960s, mainly due to the boom of quick service restaurants such as Yum!
Brands Inc. and McDonald s. The long term expansion of the restaurant industry is
expected to continue as the major players in this industry are focusing on providing
healthier and less expensive food for both Americans and customers abroad. The
restaurant industry provides two categories of services: fast food and full service
restaurant. The fast food restaurants mainly serve products including sandwiches, and
pizza. Those restaurants attract customers by offering

Stop and Frisk: Cleaning up the Streets, or Racial Profiling at its Finest?
Taryn Konkler
Introduction to Law Enforcement
Professor Michael Glendon
Imagine innocently walking down the street in a city you ve lived in your whole
life, when all of a sudden you hear the dreaded woop woop and see those flashing
red and blue lights. The police. They interrogate you, ask your whereabouts, and
finally, they frisk you. Of course, they find nothing; they rarely do when they search
people. Although it s wrong and demoralizing, you know it s something you ll have
to get used to as an African American living in New York City
.
The stop and frisk was implemented after the Terry v. Ohiocase, which ruled ... Show

The statistics show that to be an African American or Hispanic in New York you
are more than twice as likely to get stopped as a white or Asian person. Studies of
reports show that 15,000 or 30% of stops are deemed unconstitutional; and those
are just the ones that are reported, imagine all of those that go unreported. Imagine
all of those people who were victimized just because of the color of their skin. The
stop and frisk procedure was once a good thing that helped clean up the streets, but
now it s becoming an epidemic of racial profiling, and teaching racism and
intolerance to anyone who is a victim or witness of these stops.
There s no evidence that the stop and frisk is lowering or suppressing homicide
rates in NYC. Murders have dropped steadily in 1990, says Chris Dunn,
spokesperson for the NYCLU. He s saying that stop and frisks have nothing to do
with the drop in homicides, statistics show that in 2002 97,296 people were
stopped and there were 587 homicides, the numbers in 2012 were 685,724 and 532.
With almost a 600% increase in stops there is no reason that we should only have
55 less homicides. There is a reason though; police are stopping people simply
because they re a minority. Or perhaps it s because they are wearing a hoodie in the
summer or shorts in the winter, which is cause for reasonable suspicion. This leads to
distrust for law
Computer Science And Artificial Intelligence
Computer Science Computer science can be defined as a many number of
technological variables, but is primarily defined as the science and processes of
information processing in computer hardware and software, as well as its
applications within. Computer science is comprised of many aspects that form a
larger whole, that take a practical and theoretical approach to the capabilities of
computers and how they process input and output information. With computers being
conceived as early as the 1830 s, their capabilities have grown exponentially
throughout the course of the 20th century, with many aspects of computer science
becoming commonplace for the modern consumer. For the purposes of this report, the
aspects of computer science that will be covered are formal languages and artificial
intelligence. Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence can be defined as the theory
that a technological system such as computers are able to independently perform
tasks that would normally require the operation of a human being to achieve. The
primary goal of an artificial intelligence system in a machine is to autonomously
make decisions based on its perceived environment and efficiently complete a range
of given tasks. Artificial intelligence in all forms seeks to mimic aspects and
functions of human interaction and cognitive reception, and in doing so, the
machines adapt to these functions and become a standardised system. Such
technologies initially serve as an exemplary
Disadvantages Of Flexible Saving Account
Flexible saving Accounts (FSAs) are a kind of cafeteria plan letting employees to
choose cash and specified welfares by the method of a payroll inference that they
designate each year. Such plan enables the company to expand benefit selections on
a tax advantaged foundation to employees with negligible extra out of pocket
expenses. Flexible spending accounts provides several advantages to Blue Post
Company and the employees. Though, there are some difficulties to be aware of. The
most common one is the utilize it or lose it characteristic. Any amounts donated to an
account besides not consumed during the span of the year are lost to the Blue Post
Company. FSA can be set up as compensation degeneration plans which are financed
totally with representative commitments from their pay checks. The duty law restricts
what amount can be contributed every year by representatives to their adaptable

pays when they visit the specialist, remedy costs, and numerous other little expenses.
Nonetheless, by utilizing a Flexible Saving Account, the employees can maintain a
strategic distance from a considerable measure of these little costs and secure their
financial plan (John et al., 2014). Another point of preference of this sort of
arrangement is that they can pay for over the counter medications. There is a
rundown of particular over the counter medications that can be paid for with assets
from the Flexible Saving Account. Numerous different sorts of health arrangements
do not cover over the counter medications in any structure. This furnishes employees
with a considerable measure of adaptability by the way they can utilize the assets

The Desolate City Annotations
After the repetition of the dream passage beginning in bar sixty, another interlude
starts in bar sixty eight that both transitions from the previous mood and prepares for
the next. Continuity from the previous section is seen with the arpeggiation and
statements of a motive from the opening vocal line. The interlude also helps to
prepare for a more somber mood with the appearance of A@ minor, the parallel
minor. The vocal line, in which the speaker outrightly admits doubt regarding the
ideal, is marked recitative, and its chordal accompaniment is appropriately sparse.
The shift to this section is quick, with an applied dominant seventh chordto B@ minor
in bars seventy four and seventy five. In a moment of truth, all attention is

They also suggest that at the very least Daniels may have been inspired by the
works of composer Roy Harris. Other later works, including Deep Forest, a setting

suggest that Daniels may have been influenced by a few other composers who were
active during her lifetime and whose music was making a mark. These findings
indicate that Daniels moved ahead thoughtfully absorbing those new musical means

Leadership and People
Promoting Servant Leadership in the Youth
Defining Leading and Leadership
Leading is defined as:
1. Influencing others to take action toward specific goal.
2. Guiding and directing on a course, and as serving as a channel. A leader is
someone who has commanding influence.
Leadership is defined as:
1. It is the process of influencing and directing activities of members toward goal
accomplishment.
2. It is about ordinary people who care. People who care enough to get extra ordinary
things done.
3. It is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the
character which inspire confidence.

And he is generous with his praise of my work I guess, because this reflects well
on his leadership in the eyes of outsiders. But at the same time and probably for the
same reason, he comes down hard when we make mistakes or he feels that we have
let him down. I sometimes resent being so uninvolved and feeling so unimportant.
I would like to speak out and even disagree with the leader for he is not right all the
time, but I m not sure how this would go over with the others in the group. While
we spend a lot of time talking about the boss and his ways outside meetings, we tend
to turn into lambs when he is around. I guess it is because we would not like to hurt
and upset him. So things keep going on in the usual way.
2. Democratic or Participative Style
Characteristics of democratic leaders can be summed up in the following:
They are generally as concerned with maintaining group effectiveness as with
completing the task to be done.
They encourage members in their groups to express their ideas and feelings, because
they believe that such a climate leads to greater creativity and commitment.
If they encounter resistance or conflicts, they allow them to surface and they seek the
help of their groups in removing the resistance or resolving the conflicts.
They encourage joint decision making as well as shared goal setting.
They rarely set policies without explaining the reasons and proposing them to
Comparing The Lie And So Cruel Prison How Could Betide
Different Maturity Levels Towards their Imprisonment
The speakers of the two poems, The Lie and So Cruel Prison How Could Betide
both face execution. The only thing they have is to prepare for their death. Yet, each
reacts differently. While both prepare for future death, their attitudes towards their
execution differs: In Sir Walter Raleigh s poem, the speakeris prepared to resign
himself to leave the world unlike Henry Howard s speaker who does not accept his
fate even though he will be executed, regardless. Both speakers express themselves
while in prison, but the first poem in The Lie reacts with greater level of maturity
and acceptance than the second in So Cruel Prison acts in a more childlike manner;
this is seen how Howard s speaker uses tropes and metonymy to emphasize his
wistful despair while Raleigh s speaker use of apostrophes and parison underscores
his bitterness toward the living. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speakers describe prison as a place that is dull, dark, and cruel, there seems to
be no life while their time is spent there. In The Lie the speaker points out his death
like living situation while in prison, Yea, time doth dull each lively with / And dries
all wantonness with it (29 30). He illustrates his situation in a manner indicating that
he is no longer alive, but dead within himself. While in the poem, So Cruel Prison
How Could Betide the speaker also emphasizes the death like environment of prison,
but in a castaway manner. He has not accepted the fact of his imminent execution. He
feels betrayed facing a situation where he is not supposed to
The Cost Of Living By Carlos Fuentes
The Cost of Living
The Cost of Living by Carlos Fuentes, starts with Salvador Renteria and his wife
Ana. Ana has been in bed for two weeks and is very ill. Salvador comforts his wife
while she is lying in bed. He tells her not to worry and that she will get better soon.
Salvador shows his love for his wife while she is sick. She asked Salvador to check
her messages at the office, he told her that the office wanted her to come in person
to sign (Fuentes 451). We can note from this that during this time period medicine
wasn t very advanced. When someone needed highly advanced medicine, it was very
expensive and rare to get.
A shopkeeper tells Salvador that Life en Espanol hadn t arrived yet (Fuentes 452).
Carlos Fuentes tells us this because he wants us to get the feel for the setting of the
story. This also can stereotype that the life in Mexico can prove to be economically
difficult.
The story is focused in the mid 1950s during political corruptness. The setting is
located in Mexico City, Mexico. Carlos Fuentes expresses this because he wants us
to get the feel for the setting of the story. This also can stereotype that the life in
Spanish can be economical hard. I believe that Carlos chose this time era because
he wanted people to see how life was the back then compared to how it is today.
The point of view takes us back in time to where medical treatment wasn t available,
unlike today. Salvador leaves his house and is walking down the street when a young
neon Essay
Did you know that neon is a Greek word that means quot;new quot;? Neon is the
element that I am most interested in. I chose to do neon because I found out what
many uses it has in our daily life. Neon is the element that allows you to watch TV.
Without neon we would never see the cool flashing signs outside of diners and bars.
In my essay I am going to tell you about neon and its many uses.
First, I m going to tell you about the history and uses of neon. Neon was discovered
by Sir William Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Morris M. Travers, an English
chemist, shortly after their discovery of the element krypton in 1898. Neon is one of
the most amusing elements used today. Neon mixed with some other elements ...

All there is to talk about neon now is about how it integrates into our life. To show
you the integration in our society I will demonstrate a situation in which neon comes
into play. Imagine walking around in Las Vegas with your friends looking to have a
good time before your business meeting the next day. You look up and see giant signs
that flash and move around advertising casinos and restaurants. Those signs are
discharge tubes holding the active ingredients of our friend neon and his buddy
mercury. You decide to walk into the casino with the biggest, coolest sign that says

walk over to the nearest craps table. You play craps for a couple hours and decide to
cash in and go out to eat with all the money you won. You walk into a sports bar to
get a drink and you notice a TV with the Lakers game on. You look up at the TV
and notice they are losing 84 to 36. The television has a tube in it that holds neon to
project things onto the glass screen you see, without neon you wouldn t be able to
watch any of your favorite shows. When you are finished eating your friends ask if
you want to go to the Smithsonian observation museum about 10 miles away from
downtown Las Vegas. You agree and pile into your rented Mercedes Benz SRX. As

Religious Cult Research Paper
Media has often shown religious cults to be a form of devil worshipping or pagan
rituals. The reality is there are a multitude of religious cults ranging in varying
numbers of followers. All of them are potential dangerous, and can cause
consequences for the followers of their cult. Following a religious cult leads to a
dependence towards its teachings, conducting a cult s practices, and affecting society.
The most potent impact a religious cult can have on an individual is a dependence
towards the cult and its teachings. When one becomes brainwashed by a cult s
teachings and becomes a member, they become intrinsically attached to their false
teachings and ideas. Due to this, the cult can manipulate its followers for their own
agenda. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can include pagan sacrifices, self inflicted harm, and other bogus practices to
reach spiritual enlightenment . Also, cults may promote potentially dangerous
alternative medicines and other remedies. Furthermore, the cost for these remedies
could reach to thousands or even millions of dollars. Due to the influence of the
cult, these possible adverse effects become obscured to the cult followers. Perhaps
the most concerning consequence is that large cults can shape our very societies.
The baseless dogmatic ideologies taught by the cults affect the decisions of all the
followers of the cult. For example, if a large cult can delude their followers that
vaccines should be avoided, the repercussions can lead to the deaths of millions. If
such baseless ideas are rampant, it may even cause legislation to be made in
accordance to the bogus superstitions of the public. This extreme scenario gives a
glimpse of the dangerous outcome of religious cults. Although religion itself may not
be completely harmful, religious cults can potentially be destructive to individuals
and society. The infectious nature of religious cults can lead to unforeseen
ramifications. While the cult s exterior might appear to be promising, the interior
content only serves a dubious intent. Thus, if you want to avoid the baggage that
comes with a religious cult, and other superstitious jargon, skepticism towards the
opaque world is

My Writing For Health Class
I don t remember how old I was, or even what grade I was in. After all, several
decades have gone by since then. What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my
mother suddenly altered our usual homework chatter. Typically, I d shout out how
to spell a word and then mom would holler back the series of letters, steadily and
three at a time. But not that day. What do you mean, look it up myself? I hollered
back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she
washed up from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever.
Look it up yourself. She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn t do so well
on my last spelling quiz?
No mom, I m not doing spelling, I m writing my report for health class. I tried again,
pencil still poised mid sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to
come.
That s ok. The dictionary s right there on your shelf. She replied with that parental
hint of finality.
But mom... I groaned the words, how am I supposed to look it up if I don t know
how to spell it? Only the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply.
I ll never get to go outside and play. I muttered to myself before moving woodenly
over to wrestle with the giant tome that was my mother s dictionary.
I didn t appreciate it (at all) at the time, as children so often don t, but occasionally
mothers actually do know best. This proved to be a significant juncture in my literacy
development, not

My Favorite Trip
Florida is a state that is very special to me. I have always enjoyed my many visits,
but one trip in particular stands out as my favorite. Ever since I was ten years old,
I have enjoyed SCUBA diving with my family. We have done it many times, and it
is one of my favorite hobbies. In the Summer of 2016, my father and I took an
unforgettable trip centered around it. We drove down to Fort Myersand got aboard a
dive boat headed to the Dry Tortugas, a small island chain to the west of the Keys.
Not only did we enjoy the diving and spearfishing, but we had a great time on the
journey down. We began our journey by spending a night at my grandparents house
in Savannah, Georgia. Their house has always been a constant in my life, seeming
more familiar than some houses I have lived in myself. I enjoyed visiting my family
there as always, and it was great to start off the trip with such a familiar location.
The next day, we headed to Florida. We stopped by my Aunt and Uncle s house in
Ocala, and had dinner with them. It was good to see more of my family, and share
a good meal with them. That night, we drove from Ocala to Orlando, where we
would spend the night. When it was finally time to sleep, I was kept awake by my
father s incredibly loud snoring in the other room. I finally fell asleep around
midnight, only to be woken up by an alarm at two in the morning. There was much
commotion in the hallway, as everyone was leaving the building by stairs. Many
people were scared, as the

The Childlike and Biblical Connotations in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Throughout his writing career, CS Lewis has been known for writing many books
with a hint of biblical connotations in them. As Kathryn Lindskoog states, CS Lewis
is known for opposing the spirit of modern thought with the unpopular Christian
doctrines of sin and evil (2083). Lewis himself has said, You never know how much
you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life or
death to you (Freaks 60). Although his belief in God has not yet presented itself in
that manner, he continues to devote his time to the artful presentation of what he
believes to be true about God and man, as observed by Dr. Bruce ... Show more

When the Aslan goes to meet his certain death at the hand of the Witch, the narrator
refuses to give a description of some of the creatures present for fear the grownups
would probably not let [children] read this book... (165). This technique establishes a
friendly connection with reader. The narrator shows a sense of concern for the well
being of the readers, assuring them that he is on their side. Yet another connection is
the associative connection. Lewis uses words that a child can associate with. Every
child knows, loves and anticipates the idea of Father Christmas, and so when Lewis
explains that the White Witch has kept Father Christmas out of Narnia, he instills an
idea in the reader s mind that the Witch must be a terrible person. At another point
in the book, Aslan warns the children, if the witch is to be finally defeated before
bedtime we must find the battle at once (191). Here, Lewis uses a word, bedtime,
which every child has heard and is familiar with, allowing the child to better
understand the story. Again, when Aslan (the symbol of Christ) dies, a child may be
able to better sympathize with the death of an animal rather than that of a great figure
who lived two thousand years ago. Even the fact that Lewis credits the resurrection of
Aslan to the Deep Magic provides a medium that explicates the much harder
theological implications found in the Bible (Brennan).
Just as Lewis

five years. This turnover rate not only has an impact on kids, since they lose the
person they were connected with, but it also costs the nation roughly 7.4 billion
dollars a year. This video, which focuses on the Hillsborough County Public School
System, in Tampa, Florida, brings to light the importance of mentor teachers for first
and second year teachers. Through the gathering of evidence and classroom
observations, these mentor teachers provide the passion for new teachers and help to
unlock their potential. Since the implementation of the mentor program their
retention of new teachers has gone from 72% to 94%.

How Social And Political Procedures Affects Resilience At...
This paper has demonstrated and examines how series of social and political
procedure affects resilience at various spatial scales. Resilience is defined as the
ability of individuals or communities to withstand and rebound from sudden natural
disaster [earthquake, flood or hurricane] that accounts for the loss of life and
properties. However, the definition of resilience is broad as resilience thinkers
[Charles Holling and Neil Adger] have argued differently. For example, Holling
defines resilience as the ability of a system to absorb change of state variable,
driving variables, and parameters, and still persist (Holling, 1973), while Adger,
defines resilience as the ability of groups or communities to cope with external
stresses and disturbances as a result of social, political and environmental change
(Adger, 2000). Understandably, thinker like Adger and Holling as Climate Change
thinkers within the academic space have a different opinion to what constitutes the
impact of climatechange and best possible approaches needed towards building
resilience within social and political frameworks.
This paper argues prevalently that, resilience is shaped by social and political
discourse emphasizing on vulnerability and climate change adaptation methods such
as Livelihood and Economic Diversification (LED) and Community based adaptation
(CBA). The essay further argues that resilience is debated at multi levels [local, state,
and global] but global policy makers often dominate the
Chang Dental Clinic Case Analysis
Chang Dental Case Analysis
When Miller considered Chang s Clinic to be an opportunity, he desired to research

keeps the dental business alive and growing and Despite Miller being the new guy
telling clients to say ah, he anticipated he would grow substantially (50% of 04 05)
within the first year. After reading this assumption it immediately told me he s
confident in obtaining the loyalty of Chang s clients. I m not a dentist, but I assumed
this loyalty was imperative to survival and makes this business profitable. After

a fair assumption. Chang acquired this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another trait that can t been seen in a balance sheet is that we despise of new
clinics due to uncertainty, location, paper work, etc , so the clients will obviously
give Miller a chance. The most valuable asset for this clinic is its goodwill,
stemming from the ability to build a favorable relationship with your client. It
includes in the text that Miller is known for being talkative and concerning of his
patients so this is pleasing and maybe letters of recommendation from his previous
employers (where he was an associate) will be considered by the loan officer.
General principles of valuating a business evolve into behemoth variables. Growth
is one of the first things that are reviewed and even though there isn t an industry
percentage to compare, the numbers are compelling when its goodwill is
questioned. Starting in2003, He netted $83,000 the first year and grew rather
quickly reaching an impressive net income of $264,000 in 2005. Even though
Chang had a helping hand in his first year, the growth the following year was 40%,
so clients were very pleased with Chang and loyalty was altered to the new dentist
rather quickly. Chang s success is relevant in deciphering Millers loan risk because
with his prediction of growth in 2006, he plans on thriving from Chang s success and
obtaining the loyal customers of Chang. If he s
A Disease of Concern for Females
As females we are taught to maintain a healthy body by eating the right foods,
exercising and scheduling regular checkups with the doctor. However, there are
several diseases that affect the human female body. Pelvic inflammatory disease is
one of many diseases that affect the female reproductive system, and it is a disease
women should be concerned with.
Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infectious disease that invades the female
reproductive organs such as the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Pelvic
inflammatory disease also known as PID, is caused by infectious bacteria such as
Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhea and other bacteria. Bacteria that travel
from the vagina to the cervix will cause inflammation, pain, damage and ... Show

Signs and symptoms of PID include pain in the lower abdomen and pelvic area, low
back pain, painful intercourse, foul smelling vaginal discharge, irregular menstrual
bleeding, fever, fatigue, and vomiting (Martin, 1999). In addition, women who are
experiencing severe signs and symptoms of PID should go to the emergency room for
treatment.
In order to diagnose pelvic inflammatory disease, a physician will take a history
and physical exam, perform a pelvic exam, and obtain cervical cultures, order a
complete blood count and urine test. However, your doctor may recommend other
diagnostic tests, such as pelvic ultrasound to obtain images of the your reproductive
organs, and check for inflammation, endometrial biopsy to examine a piece of
uterine lining, and laparoscopy in which the physician inserts a thin, lighted
instrument through the abdomen examine the pelvic organs for abscesses (Mayo
Clinic staff, 2009). If a physician suspects the patient has PID, the patient will be
treated with antibiotics, and pain medication. Also, it is recommended that the
patient get bed rest and avoid sexual activity until the infection has cleared. In some
cases, surgery may be required to drain abscess. However, for severe infections other
procedures may be performed such as surgical removal of the injured ovaries,
fallopian tubes or any scar tissue

topic. Three companies in Canada are accused of price fixing chocolate. The
companies are Nestle, Mars, Hershey, and ITWAL. What is price fixing? Price
fixing is when companies who produce a certain product has an agreement to buy

product. Many countries do not allow the practice of price fixing. They are the
United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and within the

Knowledge Based Expert System in Transportation Engineering and Traffic Adaptive
Signal Control System
I. Abstract
Advances in computer technologies have been changing transportation field. Based
on those, Intelligent Transportation System has been proposed and being developed
for the next generation transportation system. This system requires more utilization
of Artificial Intelligence, such as Knowledge Based Expert System, than current one.
Although Knowledge Based Expert System has not been robustly studied in the field
of transportation, it is suggested to be implemented in Traffic Adaptive Signal
Control System as a part of Intelligent Transportation System. Therefore, it is
fundamental to overview that what the current position ... Show more content on

Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) is an ongoing movement, which starts in the
late 1980s, intending to maximize the utilities of transportation facilities. It is based
upon the utilization of advanced computer technologies in communication between
hardware control systems and in decision making processes on various tasks. Many
advanced studies have been achieved under the name of ITS, and they include the
application of Artificial Intelligence, such as Knowledge Based Expert System
(KBES) which will be dealt with in this report.
KBES has implemented in limited fields of transportation; it is mainly used in
pavement management system including road maintenance and road rehabilitation.
Previous implementation of KBES in transportation field are briefly reviewed in the
following section. In addition, potential applications of KBES are discussed by
focusing on the Traffic Adaptive Signal Control System, which is under the ITS
project and is suggested to be designed to use KBES by many researchers.
III. Discussion
KBES is an intelligent computer program that uses the knowledge and inference
procedures of human experts to solve difficult problems, and it is not robustly

themes are found in the book. These themes teach a lesson which can be used into
today s society. Even though the times, tradition and circumstances are different
now than it was back then the messages are greatly relevant. The main themes of
the book were about faithfulness toward what you believe in no matter what
society says or the dangers. God is trustworthy and does everything for a reason no

something better in the future. Also Gods ability to save his children in the face of

not to defile himself this way. 9 Now God had caused the official to show favor

healthier. 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.15 At the end of the
ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men

wise men. They then talk the King into making a new rule where they had to

Mobile Programming And The Market Needs Mobile
Developers
Assignment 1
Nansi Surlekova, Student ID: 13006763
Section 1
It is noticeable that the market needs mobile developers. Recently, mobile
programming has grown
10 times faster than desktop programming. Even though this is going on and on for
years now and a lot of people started participating in this area of business, there is
still place for more. After researching a few websites for job opportunities I came
across 3 interesting posts.
The first job is about a Junior Mobile Application Developer. The posts states that
you will be mentored, but still, you need to have enough experience so you can
manage things on your own. The skills required for this position are as expected: A
working knowledge of .NET, C#, Java, HTML5, ... Show more content on

As you can see I am going up, one step at a time. The requirements for this position
are longer than the whole information given in the two previous posts. Do you have
at least 5 years professional software development experience? No. Do you have at
least 3 years professional Android development experience? No. You should have
experience in almost every field that is connected in some way with mobile
development, examples are: Java, Android SDK, Eclipse ADB, Knowledge of
Android specific UI patterns and affordances, IOS, PHP, JQuery etc., oh and let s
not forget about the degree in computer science. So if we say that you become a
Junior developer, wait a few years, then go up to just being a developer and take your
life in your hands by reading books and coding more than you breathe, yes, you
might be able to apply for a position like that in about 30 years.
The chart below sums up the main skills that are required in order to launch your
career in Mobile Development. How does that fit my skill set? Barely. But a good
amount of time and effort can easily fix that. An example of a way to start building
up my skill set is by actually starting to work on an app. At first thought it all seems
scary, to be honest, but if a selected field interests you, everything can be
accomplished. Most required skills

Victorian Gender Roles In The Victorian Era In England
The most common way to characterize a society at a given time is to divide it into
social classes and evaluate the differences between each group. However, the period
known as the Victorian era in England, from 1837 to 1901, witnessed such polarized
gender roles that it can also be analyzed according to the different functions assigned
to men and women, more commonly known as the ideology of separate spheres. The
separate spheres framework holds that men possessed the capacity for reason, action,
aggression, independence, and self interest [thus belonging to the public sphere].
Women inhabited a separate, private sphere, one suitable for the so called inherent
qualities of femininity: emotion, passivity, submission, dependence, and selflessness,
all derived, it was claimed insistently, form women s sexual and reproductive
organization . Following such principles allowed men, allegedly controlled by their
mind or intellectual strength, to dominate society, to be the governing sex, given that
they were viewed as rational, brave, and independent. Women, on the other hand,
were dominated by their sexuality, and were expected to fall silently into the social
mold crafted by men, since they were regarded as irrational, sensitive, and dutiful. As
Susan Kent observes: Women were so exclusively identified by their sexual functions
that nineteenth century society came to regard them as the Sex 1. This essay will
examine the Victorian social institutions of marriage, motherhood,

Do you enjoy eating curry, but do not know how to make it? Or rather, you do not
know how to cook, but would like to learn? Whatever the reason is, there is nothing
better than taking control of what you put in your food, and knowing how fresh the
ingredients are. By cooking something fresh and delicious at the comfort of your very
own kitchen, it just makes eating that much more enjoyable.
The ingredients are simple. The flavors are exquisite. The best part is, you save
money, and you do not even have to be a chef to make a dish as simple as this curry
dish. Furthermore, I have included the video on how Anim s Homemade Chicken
Curry dish was made below. Please take a moment to watch the video if you have not

As far as the curry goes, I have always been a fan. Growing up in an Asian
household with eight other siblings, curry was a no brainer. You can make as
much, or as little as you want. The good thing is, it can all be made in the same pot
one step at a time. When you have a family as big as mine, one pot is not going to
feed the entire family. Although, my mom always seems to manage it somehow....

My Experience In The United States Air Force
Almost 18 years in the United States Air Force has brought out numerous
differences between me and other kids. Military life can be difficult for some
people and tough to adjust, but for others it is a chance for a fresh start, a chance for
a change. As soon as one gets their surrounding settled, built bonds with others, and
explored their culture around them; we get orders to leave. The ability to travel non
stop to be with familyand friends across the country and sometimes across the world,
is the greatest experience a kid could ever ask for.
Over the years, lessons have been taught, stories have been told, engines have
roared, and shots have been fired. Knowing how to salute properly is one thing,
knowing who to salute to is another. When my brother and I were kids and

reciting the American rights. I am a military brat, a part of a strong community ...

possibilities and the opportunities they present are endless. Because of the military, I

Jeffrey Dahmer Motives
In the beginning, that was my most profound admission, that there was something
missing in Jeff, the part that should have cried out, Stop! Lionel Dahmer (Jeffrey s
father) (qtd. in LaBrode). Jeffrey Dahmer, the son of Lionel Dahmer, was a serial
killer who lured his unsuspecting victims to his house, savagely killed them, and
then cannibalized their corpses. He is only one of the many serial killers who have
terrorized our world. They are an example of the evil lurking in humanity. These
murderers commit acts so horrendous that it s hard to imagine how anyone could be
capable of these acts. Many who study these people, and the murders they commit,
wonder how that behavior is established within them. There are two major answers
that emerge:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is less known, however, that this is a result of psychopathy. Psychopathy is a
personality disorder manifested in people who use a mixture of charm,
manipulation, intimidation, and occasionally violence to control others, in order to
satisfy their own selfish needs ( Serial Murder ). It s simple to see that many serial
killers suffer from psychopathy because many serial killer s personalities incorporate
these traits. The fact that they are psychopaths largely explains why they can kill
without living with the extreme guilt others would feel; it provides an emotional
barrier between themselves and their
Training Day Subculture
Subculture and Video Reflection Somebody didn t sleep through ethics training
(Ayer and Fuqua, 2001). This statement made by an officer in the movie Training
Day, best exemplifies a major theme of the movie. Training Day should be shown
to rookie officers as an example of how a police subculture can allow officers to
abuse power. The movie is an over exaggeration, but provides depth and detail into
certain situations officers may find themselves in. This paper will look at the
specific concepts of a policesubculture that officers may encounter.
The Police Subculture To begin we need to understand the police subculture that is
involved throughout the events of Training Day. To do this we look at the characters
involved. Jake Hoyt is an officer that is attempting to join the narcotics division of his
police service. Throughout the beginning of the movie he is interested in establishing

Pollock defines discretion as the authority to make a decision between two or more
choices (Pollock, p.112, 2015). There were many times throughout the film where
Hoyt would have been able to use his discretion and realize what Harris was doing
was illegal. Hoyt was in a position where he did not have much authority to make the
decisions, but numerous times, he accepts Harris s actions and turns a blind eye.
Duty
Pollock defines duty as required behaviour or action (Pollock, p.112, 2015). Hoyt
began the film stating that if he aced the assignment he would make detective
(Ayer and Fuqua,2001). It could be argued that this line is the sole reason for Hoyt
not taking the proper actions against Harris. He was so determined to do well and
make a good impression that he forgot the duties that are expected of a police officer.
If his judgment had not been clouded by his drive to do well then he may have
spoken against Harris illegal actions.
The Life of Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was an inspirational role model for
women of her time. She was always seen as a fashionable classy lady, dressed in
designer clothing and pearl jewelry. Her elegant and simple style made her a
beautiful lady. But when the time came, Jackie was facing serious things in her
life: she had a lot of schooling ahead, after which she would become the wife of the
president, and later face a tragic end as the First Lady. But despite all the chaos,
she was able to handle things on her own. All images of Jackie Kennedy, being a

John Proctor cared a lot about his good name and reputation, he was a good man

Bill Fontan An Internationally Reputable Composer And...
Bill Fontana is an internationally reputable composer and pioneering American sound
sculptor born April 25th 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. Since the mid to late 70 s Fontana
has used sound as a sculptural medium, able to interact and transform our perceptions
of visual and architectural spaces. Fontana is constantly engaged with the idea that at
any moment there will be something musical to hear in the coherent soundpatterns
around him. His sound sculptures use the human or natural environment surrounding
as a living source of musical information, often creating multiple networks of live
listening points that relay real time acoustics to a common listening place or
sculptural site. All of Fontana s works produced over the years experiment with
process of listening, recording, relocating and representing found sound patterns.
Through discussion of his works and the process undertaken in his listening for
different found sound, the technologies used in recording and relaying of these
sounds to site, and the sites themselves through his works can be seen to complicate
the idea of medium within his practice.
Links from Fontana s background can be seen to have influence upon the
development of his practice. Fontana started his musical career in the 60 s as a
composition student, attending the New School for Social Research in New York,
studying both music and philosophy. It was here that Fontana became a student of
John Cage s Experimental Composition course at the school. By
George Bailey In It s A Wonderful Life
In It s a Wonderful Life, the main character, George Bailey, is a good, giving man
who faces a rough patch in his life. I think that this story teaches us a great lesson
on being thankful. I liked the part when, at the end, Clarence finishes his job and
earns his wings. The part I didn t like was when George said that he wishes that he
was never born. The lesson that It s a Wonderful Life teaches us about thankfulness is
that you needto appreciate how blessed you really are and not to take it for granted.
To apply this message to our daily lives, you can focus more on the little things and
not so much on the big things. You can do this by focusing more on the house you
have and the food that is being provided, rather than focusing on if it s what you
like or not or wanting to own more. George Bailey never got the opportunity to
travel the world and build skyscrapers liked he hoped because he feels tied down to
the family company he never wanted to own and work for. As George Bailey got
older, he began to see everyone grow up to be what they wanted, and he sees all of
his youth and opportunities go right past him. George decides to end his life
because he believes he is worth more dead than alive. When Clarence, his guardian
angel, sees this, he decides to show George what life would be like if he had never
existed. My George Bailey is my mom because she has had an impact on my life
since the day I was born. She has helped me through hard times and has taught me a
lot of life lessons. My mom is tough because she has to handle me and my two
brothers who always fight and usually don t get along. My mom has guts to stand
up for what she thinks is right, and that s what makes me love her even more. She is
my mentor and my guide throughout life. She has rough patches in her life, yet she
never shows it. My mom is a lot like George Bailey because she usually does things
that she doesn t wantto do, but she never says that she doesn t want to do it and she
never complains. My mom has made a huge impact on my life, yet she may never
know it. My mom does so much for me and my brothers that she usually doesn t

Essay on Woodrow Wilson
Woodrow Wilson
President Woodrow Wilson s legacy of being a peace keeping president has lasting
impression on the United States. From his great intellect and progressive reform,
to the tragedy of the Great War and his hope for peace, Wilson was a strong leader
through it all. Decades after his death, he is still remembered as the man that he
was: an ethical and caring person who desperately wanted to better the world. It was
in the beginning of the 20th century when this man finally left his mark on our
country which not only made him a significant historical figure, but also a hero and
a man who worked hard to make the time he lived in his. Born in Virginia in 1856,

An important aspect that signified Woodrow Wilson as a prominent historical
figure was the Great War and his crusade for peace. When the Great War began,
Wilson tried to put an end to it, but neither side budged. Even though it seemed the
war would go on for a while, Wilson believed he could still end it and eventually all
wars in general (Brands 51). By the time the U.S. had entered the war (1917),
Wilson was still determined to end the war for all wars. He created the 14 Points,
which outlined the terms for the Treaty of Versailles, as well as the League of Nations
which intended to reinforce peace in the world through diplomacy (Brands 60). In
any case, almost every one of Wilson s decisions had an underlying theme of peace
to them and that is what he was remembered for. On the home front, Wilson was
also known as a Progressive because he changed the conditions in society at the
time. He passed laws which limited the age of workers to 16, and even helped
farmers improve their farms in the Farm Loan Act (Brands 87). Overall, Wilson
felt that it was his duty to better the world, from home to all the way overseas. Even
though some believed that he was too idealistic and not realistic in terms of his
views, he still did the world a lot of good. Ending the Great War, creating the 14
Points, forming the League of Nations, being a Progressive, and fighting for world
peace were the main contributions that Wilson made which we now look back upon as
The Definition Of Global Imperialism
Imperialism: a policy of extending a country s power and influence through
diplomacy or military force. There is more to imperialism than what is in the
definition. Imperialism isn t just power and influence or military force, its culture and
that countries way of living to. It s in our history. Just look at what the pilgrims did to
the Indians. They used somewhat military force on them and enslaved them. The they
forced their culture and religious beliefs on them like Christianity and how they dress.
Imperialism was a disorganized phenomenon involving incredible violence, plunder,
resistance, and heated debate. It involved state power and private enterprise but also
led to changes in culture. (Smith, Bonnie G. Imperialism: a History in Documents.
Oxford University Press, 2000.) Global Imperialism first started in the 15th century.
In the late 15th century European states Portugal, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and
England started a new phase of imperial development when they began sending their
people to many parts of the world.... (Smith, Bonnie G. Imperialism: a History in
Documents. Oxford University Press, 2000.) Religious authorities undertook to
Christianize the indigenous, or local, people, further adding to the colonizing
impulse. Imperialist fought to imperialize countries or certain parts of the world.
Even people of the same race fought against each other. People where fighting against
other people to enslave and imperialize other countries or other parts
Charter School Vs. Public Schools
Students Success
Why choose to go to Charter School rather than public school? Charter schools are
public school of choice, meaning families choose for their children. Federal
legislation provides grants to help charters to manage start up costs. They create
better educational opportunities for the students therefore they have higher
expectations in teaching. Charter Schools and zoned (public) schools are tuition free
but unfortunately not everyone can get in to Charter school, since it works by lottery.
Everyone has the opportunity to apply and has a choice to attend Charlet School if the
students are lucky enough to get in. Charter schools are more effective for three
reasons: they have higher graduation rates, teachers are more prepared and devoted to
their students, and teachers take a greater responsibility for their students as they
compete against Zoned Schools.
How important is it for a student to graduate? Isn t it a waste of time going to
school for twelve years and wasting all the government money and still not receive a
diploma? That is why students need to work harder to earn it and Charter schools are
the ones that offer students to become more educated. Joffee states, Charter schools
have higher API scores and graduation rates than traditional schools: Academically,
comparing LAUSD Alliance charter high schools to LAUSD traditional high schools
located in the same neighborhoods, we found the Alliance schools have decisively
higher API scores, 762 vs.
Mexican Independence
Mexican Independence In New Spain, the Bourbon monarchies in 1808 1810
encouraged some creoles leaders to strike for total independence under the cover of
Ferdinand. On July 1808, Napoleon s capture of Charles the VI and Ferdinand the
VII, and capture of Spain reached Mexico causing intense debate between Mexican
elites. Creoles and Peninsulars prepared to take power and ensure their group would
have power over the other; New Spain, like other Spanish colonies, went through the
crisis of the Bourbon monarchy from 1808 1810. Yet, in Mexicowhat pushed for
independence from Spain would be the elite s race for power.
The creoles were the first to take action. The Mexico City cabildo called on the
viceroy to summon an assembly. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was followed by a long period of war at the Siege of Cuautla. Morelos military
efforts were hampered by differences with fractious civilian allies and by his
decision to establish a representative government at a time. In 1815, Morelos was
captured by Spanish colonial authorities, tried and executed for treason in San
CristГіbal Ecatepec on 22 December.
After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the
independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced
stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential
criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular
armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their
grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to
independence could be found. It was at this juncture that the machinations of a
conservative military caudillo coinciding with a successful liberal rebellion in Spain,
made possible a radical realignment of the proindependence forces. Vicente Guerror,
planned to combine independence, monarchy, the supremacy of the Roman Catholic
Church, and the civil equality of the creoles and peninsulares.

Anzac Day Research Paper
Anzac day is celebrated on the 25th of April which marks the day when Anzac
soldiers landed at Gallipoli, ANZAC Cove in 1915. It is important to celebrate as
it shows a sign of respect for the people who put their lives at great risk to fight for
freedom in our country. Anzac stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps. It
is an important and relevant day in modern society as we would not be living with
the freedom we have now without the bravery of those Anzac soldiers 103 years
ago. Therefore it is fair that we pay our respects on this date to celebrate the lives of
the soldiers who fought for our countries freedom in the war at Gallipoli.

From the troops that fought at Gallipoli, 26,111 Australian and 2779 New Zealand
soldiers died fighting for our countries freedom. Prime Minister John Howard
supports Anzac day and believes it is a respectful way to recognize the Anzacs who
fought for our country. On April 25 each year, we gather across Australiaand around
the world to honour the first Anzacs and those who have followed their proud
example by serving our country in times of conflict, Mr Howard said. Anzac day
also recognizes the current soldiers who are training in case of another war. It
shows that we think about the sacrifices they are making and how much we respect
and honor their bravery. On the 25th of April, many dawn services around Australia
are held to acknowledge and remember the soldiers. Ben Haige 28, was at a dawn
service with his friends. It s just a simple thing, everyone else sacrificed a lot back in
their day. It s the least we could do, get up early and pay our respects, he said.
As well as Anzac day being an important day to celebrate, there are reasons why it
shouldn t be recognized and celebrated. Should we celebrate Anzac day and bring
memories of soldiers who died which could be hurtful or disrespectful for certain
cultures or the families who lost relatives in the war. Some people think it shouldn t
be celebrated as it was a point in time

Characteristics Of The Olmec Civilizations
Olmec is located at Mexico which is the oldest civilization that we found so far. The
Olmec civilization was the ancestor of Mesoamerica culture. The Olmec civilization
had major contributions in art, architecture, and sculpture. The most significant
feature was the giant head sculpture. Culturally, the Maya and Aztec civilizations
were formed up based of the Olmec as an example to follow. Aztec is one of the
oldest civilizations in the world. The Tenochtitlan city is the best example
representing their culture. The city is well organized by establishing different utility
systems. Gods in Aztec were being categorized into farming, rain, fertility,
sacrifice, and combat. The priests performed ritual human sacrifice to respect their
gods and hope to have great acquisition of food for a year.Inca is the most well
developed civilization in South America. (U.S. History pg 9) The Inca people
worshipped their lord for higher class. The elite class was mummified into the
afterlife. Inca people also worshipped the god of the sun called Inti. Instead of
performing human sacrifice practice, they usually offer food, clothing, and other stuff
to worship their mighty god. (U.S. History pg 13 14) Maya civilizationhad major
important contributions to math and architecture. They used math to calculate crop
yields, size of population, and trade. The Maya civilization relied heavily on
agriculture. That is the reason why the civilization had abundance of food. Because

Pratt Truss Bridge Essay
From brainstorming, we have considered numerous bridge designs that will suit the
spaghetti bridge experiment that can withstand the load. We have decided to focus
on a truss bridge type with suggestions of either Howe, Pratt or Warren truss
bridges. Upon research of each type of trusses we have decided to build a Pratt truss
bridge based on the simplistic design and the ability of the group members to
construct the bridge with spaghetti. The Pratt truss bridge is an ideal bridge for its
structural mechanics. The design of the Pratt truss bridges combines the elements of
internal web members of diagonal and vertical beams. Thus, it is strong yet fairly
light for its structure. The diagonals members are subjected to tension forces, whilst

Theme Of Resilience In Defending Jacob
Resilience is defined as the quality that allows people to be knocked down and
come back stronger than ever. Resilience is demonstrated throughout the novel
Defending Jacob by William Landay, and the ancillary texts If by Rudyard Kipling,
and The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri though different literary
devices. The similar conflicts of Defending Jacob and Third and Final Continent
help develop a theme of resilience throughout the stories. Another literary device that
helps to show this theme in Defending Jacob and If is point of view. Finally, the
theme is displayed once more in the novel and Third and Final Continent through the
use of characterization. The theme of keeping one s head through troubled times and
not giving up is developed through the use of conflict, point of view, and
characterization in Defending Jacob, If , and The Third and Final Continent . Both
William Landay and Jhumpa Lahiri use conflicts in their stories to demonstrate the
theme of resilience and perseverance. William Landay uses the conflict of Andy s
belief in his son and Lahiri uses the narrators will to be successful as those characters
motivation to continue working for what they believe in. Andy and Laurie s visit
to Dr. Vogel shows the beginning of a conflict in Defending Jacob. So? So what
does shoplifting have to do with murder? What s the difference if he took a candy
bar or something from CVS? What on Earth does that have to do with Ben Rifkin
being brutally stabbed to death? (Landay 146). Andy Barber never once stops
believing that his son is innocent, even after this leads to fights with Laurie and
could potentially lead to divorce. However he fights for Jacob and he knows they
will get through the trial. While Andy Barber s conflict and perseverance is more
mental, the narrator of The Third and Final Continent has a more physical conflict he
must overcome. The theme of resilience is also developed in this text when the
narrator is telling his son about his life at the end of the story. Whenever he is
discouraged, I tell him that if I can survive on three continents, then there is no
obstacle he cannot conquer (Lahiri). These words of wisdom demonstrate resilience
because the
Military Activities In Julius Caesar Research Paper
Julius Caesar military activities were significant in Gaul, Germany and Britain,
which as a result contributed to the fall of the Roman Republic. The combined
result of Rome s wars of expansion and competition among its leading men placed
immense strain on the republic system. Julius Caesar, an ambitious man, craved
the need for power, which he saw Gaul as an opportunity to conquer as Gaul lacked
political unity and discipline. With the help of his devoted army and his genius
with military tactics, Caesar was able to conquer Gaul with its advantages in favor
for himself, gaining popularity as well as exploring new foreign grounds where no
Roman has been before. However with great power Caesar was faced with new
enemies and the challengers of Roman senate, which contributed to the fall of the
Roman republic. Caesar was in search for power and wealth and when Gaul became

  • 2. Voting Essay Voting allows the voices of the people to be heard. However, this has not always been a privilege for everyone. Voting first happened around 1776. When the right to vote was first given to the people, only white landowners were allowed to vote. By 1788 slaves were counted as в…— of a person. The Dred Scott v. Stanford court case ruled that slaves are property and have no rights. A black man has no rights a white man is bound to respect. This ruling increased tensions leading into the civil war. This deprived African Americans even more to the right to citizenship. The 15th amendment was ratified in 1870, which granted black males the right to vote. When the 19th amendment was ratified in 1920, all citizens were allowed to vote regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Votingis supposed to allow everyone the opportunity to voice their opinion, but with these new laws, such as presenting a photo ID, everyone is not getting a say so, so the votes aren t accurate. The new law of having a photo ID to vote also affects transgenders. Many people who have transitioned themselves haven t updated their ID and have a picture with their original sex. Those who transitioned have no documents or records with their current gender listed. This new law makes it harder for them because their information isn t updated, and because of this they aren t allowed to vote. This also makes the votes inaccurate because there are about 25,000 transgenders who aren t getting their say so. The government is trying to cut early voting, which plays a part in voter suppression. Early voting allows those with disabilities and those who have jobs get their votes in while they have time and before the lines get to crazy. Cutting early voting leads to longer lines, which may cause fewer people to vote. Many people leave in frustration due to how long the lines may be. Since 2011 various states have cut back on voting due to politicians leading these attempts for supportive gain. In 2012 Florida cut voting down from 14 days to eight. In 2013 North Carolina cut voting down from 17 days to 10. Based on statics between the years of 2008 and 2012 around 70% of blacks took advantage of voting early. In
  • 3. The Importance Of Same Sex Relationships In The Catholic... Same Sex relationships are and always have always been frowned upon in the eyes of the Church. The Catholic Church takes a very strict approach to their view on same sex relationships. Despite Pope Francis taking a tolerant stance on same sex marriage, the banning of marriage throughout the Catholic church still causes negative feelings through the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and queer communities. For the Church to gain the full approval of these communities some major changes need to be made. The Church needs to take a more modernized approach to dealing with same sex relationships and to look fully into each individual s self fulfillment. The Bishops teaching is based The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith. The Church is very non accepting of homosexual actions and desires and makes clear that if a person is just naturally feeling this way is must be a disorder. The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith states, [Homosexual actions] were described as deprived of their essential and indispensable finality, as being intrinsically disordered , and able in no case to be approved of. The Church is giving their views solely and not taking into the account that it is not one general answer to the perfect lifestyle . The Congregation of faith makes it very clear that being homosexual is indeed not a morally accepted option. Their leverage is that the Holy Bible has verses specifically against homosexuality and being acceptable of anything related to them. They

Taryn Konkler Introduction to Law Enforcement Professor Michael Glendon Imagine innocently walking down the street in a city you ve lived in your whole life, when all of a sudden you hear the dreaded woop woop and see those flashing red and blue lights. The police. They interrogate you, ask your whereabouts, and finally, they frisk you. Of course, they find nothing; they rarely do when they search people. Although it s wrong and demoralizing, you know it s something you ll have to get used to as an African American living in New York City . The stop and frisk was implemented after the Terry v. Ohiocase, which ruled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The statistics show that to be an African American or Hispanic in New York you are more than twice as likely to get stopped as a white or Asian person. Studies of reports show that 15,000 or 30% of stops are deemed unconstitutional; and those are just the ones that are reported, imagine all of those that go unreported. Imagine all of those people who were victimized just because of the color of their skin. The stop and frisk procedure was once a good thing that helped clean up the streets, but now it s becoming an epidemic of racial profiling, and teaching racism and intolerance to anyone who is a victim or witness of these stops. There s no evidence that the stop and frisk is lowering or suppressing homicide rates in NYC. Murders have dropped steadily in 1990, says Chris Dunn, spokesperson for the NYCLU. He s saying that stop and frisks have nothing to do with the drop in homicides, statistics show that in 2002 97,296 people were stopped and there were 587 homicides, the numbers in 2012 were 685,724 and 532. With almost a 600% increase in stops there is no reason that we should only have 55 less homicides. There is a reason though; police are stopping people simply because they re a minority. Or perhaps it s because they are wearing a hoodie in the summer or shorts in the winter, which is cause for reasonable suspicion. This leads to distrust for law

Computer science is comprised of many aspects that form a larger whole, that take a practical and theoretical approach to the capabilities of computers and how they process input and output information. The primary goal of an artificial intelligence system in a machine is to autonomously make decisions based on its perceived environment and efficiently complete a range of given tasks. Artificial intelligence in all forms seeks to mimic aspects and functions of human interaction and cognitive reception, and in doing so, the machines adapt to these functions and become a standardised system. Such technologies initially serve as an exemplary

The Desolate City Annotations After the repetition of the dream passage beginning in bar sixty, another interlude starts in bar sixty eight that both transitions from the previous mood and prepares for the next. Continuity from the previous section is seen with the arpeggiation and statements of a motive from the opening vocal line. The interlude also helps to prepare for a more somber mood with the appearance of A@ minor, the parallel minor. The vocal line, in which the speaker outrightly admits doubt regarding the ideal, is marked recitative, and its chordal accompaniment is appropriately sparse. The only thing they have is to prepare for their death. Yet, each reacts differently. While both prepare for future death, their attitudes towards their execution differs: In Sir Walter Raleigh s poem, the speakeris prepared to resign himself to leave the world unlike Henry Howard s speaker who does not accept his fate even though he will be executed, regardless. Both speakers express themselves while in prison, but the first poem in The Lie reacts with greater level of maturity and acceptance than the second in So Cruel Prison acts in a more childlike manner; this is seen how Howard s speaker uses tropes and metonymy to emphasize his wistful despair while Raleigh s speaker use of apostrophes and parison underscores his bitterness toward the living. ... Ana has been in bed for two weeks and is very ill. Salvador comforts his wife while she is lying in bed. He tells her not to worry and that she will get better soon. Salvador shows his love for his wife while she is sick. She asked Salvador to check her messages at the office, he told her that the office wanted her to come in person to sign (Fuentes 451). We can note from this that during this time period medicine wasn t very advanced. When someone needed highly advanced medicine, it was very expensive and rare to get. A shopkeeper tells Salvador that Life en Espanol hadn t arrived yet (Fuentes 452). Carlos Fuentes tells us this because he wants us to get the feel for the setting of the story. This also can stereotype that the life in Mexico can prove to be economically difficult. The story is focused in the mid 1950s during political corruptness. The setting is located in Mexico City, Mexico. Carlos Fuentes expresses this because he wants us to get the feel for the setting of the story. This also can stereotype that the life in Spanish can be economical hard. Imagine walking around in Las Vegas with your friends looking to have a good time before your business meeting the next day. You look up and see giant signs that flash and move around advertising casinos and restaurants. Those signs are discharge tubes holding the active ingredients of our friend neon and his buddy mercury. You decide to walk into the casino with the biggest, coolest sign that says quot;MGM quot;. You walk into the casino wondering what to do first, so you walk over to the nearest craps table. You play craps for a couple hours and decide to cash in and go out to eat with all the money you won. You walk into a sports bar to get a drink and you notice a TV with the Lakers game on. You look up at the TV and notice they are losing 84 to 36. The reality is there are a multitude of religious cults ranging in varying numbers of followers. All of them are potential dangerous, and can cause consequences for the followers of their cult. Following a religious cult leads to a dependence towards its teachings, conducting a cult s practices, and affecting society. The most potent impact a religious cult can have on an individual is a dependence towards the cult and its teachings. When one becomes brainwashed by a cult s teachings and becomes a member, they become intrinsically attached to their false teachings and ideas. Due to this, the cult can manipulate its followers for their own agenda. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can include pagan sacrifices, self inflicted harm, and other bogus practices to reach spiritual enlightenment . Also, cults may promote potentially dangerous alternative medicines and other remedies. Furthermore, the cost for these remedies could reach to thousands or even millions of dollars. Due to the influence of the cult, these possible adverse effects become obscured to the cult followers. Perhaps the most concerning consequence is that large cults can shape our very societies. The baseless dogmatic ideologies taught by the cults affect the decisions of all the followers of the cult. For example, if a large cult can delude their followers that vaccines should be avoided, the repercussions can lead to the deaths of millions. If such baseless ideas are rampant, it may even cause legislation to be made in accordance to the bogus superstitions of the public. This extreme scenario gives a glimpse of the dangerous outcome of religious cults. Although religion itself may not be completely harmful, religious cults can potentially be destructive to individuals and society. The infectious nature of religious cults can lead to unforeseen ramifications. While the cult s exterior might appear to be promising, the interior content only serves a dubious intent. Thus, if you want to avoid the baggage that comes with a religious cult, and other superstitious jargon, skepticism towards the opaque world is

What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual homework chatter. Typically, I d shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. What do you mean, look it up myself? I hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she washed up from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever. Look it up yourself. She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn t do so well on my last spelling quiz? No mom, I m not doing spelling, I m writing my report for health class. Ever since I was ten years old, I have enjoyed SCUBA diving with my family. We have done it many times, and it is one of my favorite hobbies. In the Summer of 2016, my father and I took an unforgettable trip centered around it. We drove down to Fort Myersand got aboard a dive boat headed to the Dry Tortugas, a small island chain to the west of the Keys. Not only did we enjoy the diving and spearfishing, but we had a great time on the journey down. We began our journey by spending a night at my grandparents house in Savannah, Georgia. Their house has always been a constant in my life, seeming more familiar than some houses I have lived in myself. I enjoyed visiting my family there as always, and it was great to start off the trip with such a familiar location. The next day, we headed to Florida. We stopped by my Aunt and Uncle s house in Ocala, and had dinner with them. It was good to see more of my family, and share a good meal with them. That night, we drove from Ocala to Orlando, where we would spend the night. When it was finally time to sleep, I was kept awake by my father s incredibly loud snoring in the other room. I finally fell asleep around midnight, only to be woken up by an alarm at two in the morning. There was much commotion in the hallway, as everyone was leaving the building by stairs. Many people were scared, as the

The Childlike and Biblical Connotations in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Throughout his writing career, CS Lewis has been known for writing many books with a hint of biblical connotations in them. As Kathryn Lindskoog states, CS Lewis is known for opposing the spirit of modern thought with the unpopular Christian doctrines of sin and evil (2083). Lewis himself has said, You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life or death to you (Freaks 60). Although his belief in God has not yet presented itself in that manner, he continues to devote his time to the artful presentation of what he believes to be true about God and man, as observed by Dr. Bruce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Aslan goes to meet his certain death at the hand of the Witch, the narrator refuses to give a description of some of the creatures present for fear the grownups would probably not let [children] read this book... (165). This technique establishes a friendly connection with reader. The narrator shows a sense of concern for the well being of the readers, assuring them that he is on their side. Yet another connection is the associative connection. Lewis uses words that a child can associate with. Every child knows, loves and anticipates the idea of Father Christmas, and so when Lewis explains that the White Witch has kept Father Christmas out of Narnia, he instills an idea in the reader s mind that the Witch must be a terrible person. At another point in the book, Aslan warns the children, if the witch is to be finally defeated before bedtime we must find the battle at once (191). Here, Lewis uses a word, bedtime, which every child has heard and is familiar with, allowing the child to better understand the story. Again, when Aslan (the symbol of Christ) dies, a child may be able to better sympathize with the death of an animal rather than that of a great figure who lived two thousand years ago. Even the fact that Lewis credits the resurrection of Aslan to the Deep Magic provides a medium that explicates the much harder theological implications found in the Bible (Brennan). Just as Lewis

This paper has demonstrated and examines how series of social and political procedure affects resilience at various spatial scales. Resilience is defined as the ability of individuals or communities to withstand and rebound from sudden natural disaster [earthquake, flood or hurricane] that accounts for the loss of life and properties. However, the definition of resilience is broad as resilience thinkers [Charles Holling and Neil Adger] have argued differently. For example, Holling defines resilience as the ability of a system to absorb change of state variable, driving variables, and parameters, and still persist (Holling, 1973), while Adger, defines resilience as the ability of groups or communities to cope with external stresses and disturbances as a result of social, political and environmental change (Adger, 2000). Understandably, thinker like Adger and Holling as Climate Change thinkers within the academic space have a different opinion to what constitutes the impact of climatechange and best possible approaches needed towards building resilience within social and political frameworks. This paper argues prevalently that, resilience is shaped by social and political discourse emphasizing on vulnerability and climate change adaptation methods such as Livelihood and Economic Diversification (LED) and Community based adaptation (CBA). The essay further argues that resilience is debated at multi levels [local, state, and global] but global policy makers often dominate the

  • 33. Victorian Gender Roles In The Victorian Era In England The most common way to characterize a society at a given time is to divide it into social classes and evaluate the differences between each group. However, the period known as the Victorian era in England, from 1837 to 1901, witnessed such polarized gender roles that it can also be analyzed according to the different functions assigned to men and women, more commonly known as the ideology of separate spheres. The separate spheres framework holds that men possessed the capacity for reason, action, aggression, independence, and self interest [thus belonging to the public sphere]. Women inhabited a separate, private sphere, one suitable for the so called inherent qualities of femininity: emotion, passivity, submission, dependence, and selflessness, all derived, it was claimed insistently, form women s sexual and reproductive organization . Following such principles allowed men, allegedly controlled by their mind or intellectual strength, to dominate society, to be the governing sex, given that they were viewed as rational, brave, and independent. Women, on the other hand, were dominated by their sexuality, and were expected to fall silently into the social mold crafted by men, since they were regarded as irrational, sensitive, and dutiful. As Susan Kent observes: Women were so exclusively identified by their sexual functions that nineteenth century society came to regard them as the Sex 1. Since the mid to late 70 s Fontana has used sound as a sculptural medium, able to interact and transform our perceptions of visual and architectural spaces. Fontana is constantly engaged with the idea that at any moment there will be something musical to hear in the coherent soundpatterns around him. His sound sculptures use the human or natural environment surrounding as a living source of musical information, often creating multiple networks of live listening points that relay real time acoustics to a common listening place or sculptural site. All of Fontana s works produced over the years experiment with process of listening, recording, relocating and representing found sound patterns. Through discussion of his works and the process undertaken in his listening for different found sound, the technologies used in recording and relaying of these sounds to site, and the sites themselves through his works can be seen to complicate the idea of medium within his practice. Links from Fontana s background can be seen to have influence upon the development of his practice. • 41. George Bailey In It s A Wonderful Life In It s a Wonderful Life, the main character, George Bailey, is a good, giving man who faces a rough patch in his life. I think that this story teaches us a great lesson on being thankful. I liked the part when, at the end, Clarence finishes his job and earns his wings. The part I didn t like was when George said that he wishes that he was never born. The lesson that It s a Wonderful Life teaches us about thankfulness is that you needto appreciate how blessed you really are and not to take it for granted. To apply this message to our daily lives, you can focus more on the little things and not so much on the big things. You can do this by focusing more on the house you have and the food that is being provided, rather than focusing on if it s what you like or not or wanting to own more. George Bailey never got the opportunity to travel the world and build skyscrapers liked he hoped because he feels tied down to the family company he never wanted to own and work for. As George Bailey got older, he began to see everyone grow up to be what they wanted, and he sees all of his youth and opportunities go right past him. George decides to end his life because he believes he is worth more dead than alive. When Clarence, his guardian angel, sees this, he decides to show George what life would be like if he had never existed. My George Bailey is my mom because she has had an impact on my life since the day I was born. She has helped me through hard times and has taught me a lot of life lessons. My mom is tough because she has to handle me and my two brothers who always fight and usually don t get along. My mom has guts to stand up for what she thinks is right, and that s what makes me love her even more. She is my mentor and my guide throughout life. She has rough patches in her life, yet she never shows it. My mom is a lot like George Bailey because she usually does things that she doesn t wantto do, but she never says that she doesn t want to do it and she never complains. My mom has made a huge impact on my life, yet she may never know it. My mom does so much for me and my brothers that she usually doesn t take time for herself. That impacts me a lot because it shows me what a hard working woman looks like. She

From his great intellect and progressive reform, to the tragedy of the Great War and his hope for peace, Wilson was a strong leader through it all. Decades after his death, he is still remembered as the man that he was: an ethical and caring person who desperately wanted to better the world. It was in the beginning of the 20th century when this man finally left his mark on our country which not only made him a significant historical figure, but also a hero and a man who worked hard to make the time he lived in his. An important aspect that signified Woodrow Wilson as a prominent historical figure was the Great War and his crusade for peace. When the Great War began, Wilson tried to put an end to it, but neither side budged. Even though it seemed the war would go on for a while, Wilson believed he could still end it and eventually all wars in general (Brands 51). By the time the U.S. had entered the war (1917), Wilson was still determined to end the war for all wars. He created the 14 Points, which outlined the terms for the Treaty of Versailles, as well as the League of Nations which intended to reinforce peace in the world through diplomacy (Brands 60). In any case, almost every one of Wilson s decisions had an underlying theme of peace to them and that is what he was remembered for. On the home front, Wilson was also known as a Progressive because he changed the conditions in society at the time. He passed laws which limited the age of workers to 16, and even helped farmers improve their farms in the Farm Loan Act (Brands 87). Overall, Wilson felt that it was his duty to better the world, from home to all the way overseas. Even though some believed that he was too idealistic and not realistic in terms of his views, he still did the world a lot of good. Ending the Great War, creating the 14 Points, forming the League of Nations, being a Progressive, and fighting for world peace were the main contributions that Wilson made which we now look back upon as

Just look at what the pilgrims did to the Indians. They used somewhat military force on them and enslaved them. • 45. Charter School Vs. Public Schools Students Success Why choose to go to Charter School rather than public school? Charter schools are public school of choice, meaning families choose for their children. Federal legislation provides grants to help charters to manage start up costs. They create better educational opportunities for the students therefore they have higher expectations in teaching. Charter Schools and zoned (public) schools are tuition free but unfortunately not everyone can get in to Charter school, since it works by lottery. Everyone has the opportunity to apply and has a choice to attend Charlet School if the students are lucky enough to get in. Charter schools are more effective for three reasons: they have higher graduation rates, teachers are more prepared and devoted to their students, and teachers take a greater responsibility for their students as they compete against Zoned Schools. How important is it for a student to graduate? Isn t it a waste of time going to school for twelve years and wasting all the government money and still not receive a diploma? That is why students need to work harder to earn it and Charter schools are the ones that offer students to become more educated. Joffee states, Charter schools have higher API scores and graduation rates than traditional schools: Academically, comparing LAUSD Alliance charter high schools to LAUSD traditional high schools located in the same neighborhoods, we found the Alliance schools have decisively higher API scores, 762 vs.

After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to independence could be found. • 51. Theme Of Resilience In Defending Jacob Resilience is defined as the quality that allows people to be knocked down and come back stronger than ever. Resilience is demonstrated throughout the novel Defending Jacob by William Landay, and the ancillary texts If by Rudyard Kipling, and The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri though different literary devices. The similar conflicts of Defending Jacob and Third and Final Continent help develop a theme of resilience throughout the stories. Another literary device that helps to show this theme in Defending Jacob and If is point of view. Finally, the theme is displayed once more in the novel and Third and Final Continent through the use of characterization. The theme of keeping one s head through troubled times and not giving up is developed through the use of conflict, point of view, and characterization in Defending Jacob, If , and The Third and Final Continent . Both William Landay and Jhumpa Lahiri use conflicts in their stories to demonstrate the theme of resilience and perseverance. William Landay uses the conflict of Andy s belief in his son and Lahiri uses the narrators will to be successful as those characters motivation to continue working for what they believe in. Andy and Laurie s visit to Dr. Vogel shows the beginning of a conflict in Defending Jacob. So? So what does shoplifting have to do with murder? What s the difference if he took a candy bar or something from CVS? What on Earth does that have to do with Ben Rifkin being brutally stabbed to death? (Landay 146). Andy Barber never once stops believing that his son is innocent, even after this leads to fights with Laurie and could potentially lead to divorce. However he fights for Jacob and he knows they will get through the trial. While Andy Barber s conflict and perseverance is more mental, the narrator of The Third and Final Continent has a more physical conflict he must overcome. The theme of resilience is also developed in this text when the narrator is telling his son about his life at the end of the story. Whenever he is discouraged, I tell him that if I can survive on three continents, then there is no obstacle he cannot conquer (Lahiri). These words of wisdom demonstrate resilience because the
