Mechanism of Melatonin Stimulation of Growth Hormone...
Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin inhibition
Joseph Angelo Israel Peguit
University of the Philippines in the Visayas Cebu College
Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division
Abstract
Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone releasing
hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote growth hormone secretion
while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents growth hormone secretion. Many studies have
already shown that melatonin stimulates secretion of growth hormone via somatostatin inhibition but
its mechanisms remain unknown. I hypothesized that melatonin inhibits somatostatin at transcription
level through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the SCN in the
hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of the superfamily of G Protein
Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are coupled to a number of effector systems
influencing the intracellular signalling. They are designated as Gi/Go type because of their
characteristic being inhibited by the presence of pertussis toxin[8].
Transduction Pathway
The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate cyclase, phospholipase
C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion channels[8,6,33].
The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by direct
inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by activation of ATP
sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to activation of ATP sensitive K+
channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly results to hyperpolarization of the membrane.
The hyperpolarization inactivates the voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during
membrane depolarization[8,6].
Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC functions to catalyze
hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol
(DAG). Inositol

Nehemah Conflict Management
Conflict management: A Biblical perspective Nehemiah 6:1 19 1. What was Nehemiah s attitude as he
faced each conflict? Nehemiah was humble and worthy, even thou he faced being fearful and afraid,
he still believed that God would deliver him from evil. And God did deliver him from evil; he was
able to finish the wall of Jerusalem in the month of Elul, in fifty two days (Neh. 6:9 15). Throughout
chapter 6, Nehemiah faced hardship, fear and evil. It was his faith in God that got him through and
even though he finished the wall of Jerusalem, Tobiah was still sending letter to put him in fear (Neh.
6:19). He faced 5 different conflicts throughout chapter 6; he was humble, but afraid and feared for his
life. 2. How would you differentiate

Search Strategies
A search strategy is used to guide a researcher in using databases to find information such as
keywords, subject headings, and criteria for inclusion or exclusion of material (Melnyk Fineout
Overholt, 2015). After much discussion, a group PICOT question was identified: In adult patients on a
medical surgical unit who meet sepsis criteria (P) does the use of a nurse driven sepsis protocol (I),
compared to usual care (C), affect the time of initiating sepsis protocol (O) over the span of three
months (T)? The purpose of this paper is to describe the search strategy and process that was used to
obtain pertinent articles for evidence that are directly related to the established PICOT question.

Tazbir (2012) and Schorr, Odden, Evans, Escobar, Bandi, Townsend, and Levy (2016) developed
articles that are specific to the medical surgical unit and defined several factors as to what may play
into the higher mortality rate of the patients that are diagnosed there. Schorr et al. (2016) further
examined and compared emergency department (ED) versus medical surgical treatment of sepsis.
Kleinpell, Aitken, and Schorr (2013) gave thorough, in depth knowledge of nurses role, sepsis, and
treatment guidelines describing initial, three hour, and six hour bundles. Medley O Keefe, Gatewood,
Wemple, Greco, Kritek, and Durvasula (2015) gave interesting statistics to support nurse driven
testing and sepsis specific goal directed therapy. Lopez Bushneil, Demaray, and Jaco (2014) and
Kleinpell (2017) defined sepsis screening tools with complete sepsis protocols and identified studies
in which nurses are authorized to identify signs and symptoms, order necessary blood testing, and
initiate protocols. Additionally, Kleinpell (2017) identified studies in which nurses completed Sepsis
Power Hour in which blood cultures, lactate, and fluid boluses were independently initiated by the
nurse. All articles were chosen because they appeared to have a strong hierarchy of evidence. For
example, Lopez Bushneil, Demaray, and Jaco (2014) report testing evidence to show a change in

Loving Story Essay
The Loving Story The journey that Richard and Mildred Loving took is important for history and for
the future of civil rights in the United States. I recently watched the documentary The Loving Story
and enjoyed the footage, pictures, and interviews of everyone involved in the Loving v. Virginia case.
The documentary addressed the issue of interracial marriage in Virginia in 1967. The married partners,
Richard and Mildred, were woken up in the middle of the night and were criminally charged for being
in the state of Virginia and being married. Richard was a white male, Mildred was a African American
and Native American, and that was the problem that they faced at that point in history. During this
time, it was illegal to be of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It got across to us that the two people involved with each other and married are just as normal as any
straight, white, and married couple. The problem people had, and probably still do have, is that they
do not see them as normal people. They are different because of their race, sexuality, class status,
etcetera . The human face and cost is lost in the their eyes. The photos at the end showed how they
were not different from a couple that was made up of two white or two black people. They were
courageous and inspiring people in history and that is what they will be remembered for. Mildred and
Richard Loving made it possible for people of two different races to get married in their case that
made it to the Supreme Court. My reflections after viewing this film, moved towards thinking about
our current situation of not allowing people of the LGBT community get married. The opinions and
bigotry that are still instilled in our society. For those that say that we have moved past our prejudiced
views as a society in the United States; I would say that they are wrong. The Loving story was
significant in so many ways towards moving our world into a better place for all. The education and
consciousness of accepting all people will be key in future of struggle for equality in this country and

7 interesting fact about polar bears
Introduction Paragraph...
Is a polar bear one of the eight species? A polar bear is a one of the eight species. Scientists believe
that the polar bear began over 200,000 years ago. They came from the brown bears ancestors. Most
experts think that polar bears are the longest bears. Males measure over 10 feet long, when standing
on their hind legs, other bear not so much. Brown bears and polar bear are the largest and are both
land carnivores. Polar bears are one of the worlds largest world predictors.
2.) Polar bears don t hibernate! Polar bears don t hibernate, expect if it is a pregnant female that
hibernates over winter in dens. Unlike other bears like brown, black, grizzle, polar bears don t
hibernate. Others may just dig a hole and spend several days in the hole, at a time. When the pregnant
female s activity level decreases, she gives birth and nurses her cubs. When the weather conditions are
rough, they might stay in longer. Polar bears are evolved to live in cold climates unlike brown bears
3.) Is a Polar Bear s fur really white? A polar bears fur isn t white, it just looks white. There fur is
actually clear, hollow tubes filled with air. An outer coat of long guard hair that sticks together when
wet protects a dense, thick under coat. When a polar bear rolls, water rolls off of the guards hairs.

Myth Gender Based Wage Gap
Myth Gender Based Wage Gap
Raaga Agraharam
Soc 101
Introduction:
On January 29, 2016, The White House Press Office released a FACT SHEET on new steps to
advance equal pay for women. This FACT SHEET states that,
the median wage of a woman working full time all year in the United States is about $39,600 only 79
percent of a man s median earnings of $50,400 (The White House, 2016).
However, many scholars and economists disagree that a gender wage gap exists. In addition,
conservative political experts and bloggers promote the notion that gender based wage gap is an idea
propagated by feminists, women empowering organizations, and progressives. However, almost all the
working women in the United States, and organizations such as Institute for Women s Policy Research
(IRWP), and American Association of University Women (AAAU), strongly believe in the existence
of the gender wage gap.
This sociological issue of equal pay for women is extremely relevant in today s environment where
women perform equal work as men in many occupations. Furthermore, with almost 50% of the work
force being women, women contributing equally to the family income, and a large number of women
being the single parents supporting children, lack of equal pay over time could increase the poverty
rates for women (White House, 2016). In addition, IWPR s 2015 report on the status of American
women, states that if women receive equal pay for the same work, poverty rate among women will see

High School Athletes Should Be Required
The NCAA states, Nearly eight million students currently participate in high school athletics in the
United States. More than 460,000 compete as NCAA athletes, and just a select few within each sport
move on to compete at the professional or Olympic level ( Estimated Probability ). Everyone agrees
that Americans have to improve academic achievement in schools today; however, it is hard to do so
with a barrage of athletic activities. Students are focusing more on sports then academics, and this
diversion seems to be costly. In order to fix this, high school athletes should be required to maintain a
2.3 grade point average in order to participate in sports because the primary mission of any serious
academic institution must be to develop the young person s intellectual and cognitive skills and help
one get recruited; also, there is a very low chance of athletes continuing their careers at the college or
professional level.
The primary purpose of any academic institution is to develop and prepare a young person for after his
schooling years. In, The Purpose of Schools, Michael Peterson states the two goals of any school: to
teach students who have specific skills to perform jobs, and introduce students to active citizenry
(Peterson). In other words, Peterson argues how a school must prepare one for his or her future instead
of preparing them for a career in sports. John Dewey writes, Education should create an interest in all
persons in furthering the general good, so

The Civil War And Reconstruction Period Essay
The Civil War and Reconstruction period provided African American people with a legal definition of
citizenship through three constitutional amendments. Beginning with the 13th Amendment slavery
was abolished, then 14th Amendment provided equal protection under the law, and lastly the 15th
Amendment allowed all men, including African Americans, the ability to vote. However, the transition
from enslavement to freedom was a difficult and terrifying one for most black women as they had
little or no money, limited or no education and little access to it, and faced racism that impacted every
aspect of their lives. However, the Reconstruction period in America promised African Americans a
new life of freedom with the same inalienable rights provided to other American citizens and allowed
for many social reforms to take place during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to
the efforts of African American women. The period from the 1860s to the turn of the twentieth
century, or the Reconstruction period, marked a transitional era of mixing a new socioeconomic and
political infrastructure into the United States. Reconstruction was a comprehensive era that united the
once disregarded demographic groups of African Americans into mainstream America. With
emancipation of blacks throughout the nation and the post war constitutional amendments, this period
observed the historical extension of social and political liberties to four million emancipated African
Americans.

The Effects Of Physical Abuse On Child Abuse
The United States has been fighting the war against child abuse since the first case of child abuse in
1874 that included a child being beaten and chained against her will (Meadows, 2014). Many people
hear the words child abuse and think of physical abuse. While, many people are correct in thinking of
physical abuse, an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) study done by the CDC shows that although
physical abuse is the leading form of child abuse, emotional or psychological abuse is the second
leading form of child abuse (2014). Although one would think sexual abuse along with physical abuse
would be the prominent form of abuse, this is not the case. One of the major reasons emotional neglect
is more prominent than sexual abuse is due to the fact that emotional abuse is not being overlooked as
often as it used to. In fact, it is now being seen as the gateway to physical and sexual abuse
(Garbarino, Guttman, Seeley, 1988). The amounts of consequences that come from being abused as a
child are countless as well as life changing, some of these life changing effects were identified by the
CDC as drug abuse, sexual transmitted diseases, suicidal thoughts, and difficulty learning (2014).
When a child who has been abused begins school they approach the classroom setting, similar to a dog
that has been abused by its owner approaches other humans, the child approaches the classroom with a
skeptical attitude (Fink, A. H., Janssen, K. N, 1992). They are constantly avoiding

In 2002 Shell Canada, a large Oil and Gas company, launched the eStore software application to
service their price sensitive Agricultural market segment by offering a lower cost service. Calvin
Wright (eProduct manager) helped implement the eStore application, which was geared to service this
Agricultural Segment market. The Agricultural Segment was considered by Shell to be high costs

IT developed an application that was to be used by the Agricultural Segment, however the eStore
design was not created nor considered by the customer user friendly (complex security password
design). Such complex features are more likely to be seen in Intranets. Since this application is
supposed to act as an eStore more security should have been implemented for the invoicing portion,
and less when browsing for a product.
What differences are evidenced in this case between the development and deployment of customer
facing applications versus employee facing applications? How did the type of application affect the
use of eStore?
When developing the eStore, Shell did not seem to adhere too much to the customers needs, but rather
servicing the needs of the company (developed a cost effective system). In the consultant report it is
identified that customers had trouble differentiating which login application they should choose since
they presumed to be presented with two options. The customer had the perception that by using the
left side of the screen they would use an insecure login (Rainer, 2008, pg. 176). The IT development
of eStore was approached as being used by someone that had some application knowledge and

Over Switching
In Andy Molinsky s article Adapt a New Culture, but Don t Go Too Far , over switching is a common
behavior among individuals who make mistakes when they are pushing themselves too far to match a
particular culture. It is inevitable which can affect individual s life or career (Molinsky). International
students and workers are told that individualism is an important part of the culture in the United
States. While they are trying to adapt to that culture, mistakes might happen because of their
unappropriated language and behavior. The best way to minimize the effect of over switching is to
learn from interacting with people from the culture that you are trying to adapt into. In the article,

Mussolini s rise to power
How far do you agree, that the Bienno Rosso was the most important reason for Mussolini and
Fascism s rise to power in Italy, 1919 22?
Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini s rise
to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal Italian
state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to power were
the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio Rosso , the elite s
support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. All of these factors contributed to Mussolini
and the fascist s rise to power.

The main political alignments of the newly unified Italy were the liberalists, socialist and the Catholic
Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When Giolitti was in
power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and support the liberal state,
however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he would end up alienating the
other.
During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding of
trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of socialism.
The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and glory
for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento were
made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry of the
Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini gain
power due to his anti communist beliefs.
As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a variety
of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy susceptible to
the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power.
Another reason that led to Mussolini s rise to power was the Biennio Rosso which took place in the

How Did Ww1 Affect Canada
gained Canada international praise and Canada was able to prove what we could do as a nation and
this led to a more independent Canada. As the countries signed the Treaty of Versailles, Britain
allowed Canada to sign the Treaty of Versailles as well, planting the first seeds of Canadian autonomy.
To conclude, World War I had a major impact on Canadian identity and led to a change in Canadian
independence from Britain. Furthermore, World War I is Canada s most defining moment because of
Canada s war efforts. As stated, the military efforts from Canada were huge and it played a huge role
in the defeat of the Axis. But, it is important to note that it was not just military efforts that Canada put
forth towards its war efforts, there were other factors involved as well. Canada invoked conscription
during this time as part of their war efforts. This even created problems between English and French
Canada. As the romantic idea of war was destroyed when people realized the amount of casualties at
war, many men did not volunteer to go to war themselves. The people who went to war came back in
terrible conditions. In 1917, Sam Hughes stated that only 5% of soldiers were French Canadians and

What Is The Conflict Of The Victorian Age
He Victorian age experienced a conflict between science and religion. The era found its orthodoxy
battered by movements of thoughts, like Positivism, Empiricism, Utilitarianism, Rationalism,
Liberalism and Marxism which assailed all honest minds with scepticism. There was the new Biblical
criticism and a spurt of scientific progress. They led the generation to secularization, agnosticism,
atheism and religious passivity.
Mostly, the writers of the age revolted against the deification of material progress. The poets were
perhaps the best interpreters of the age (Brett 18). They illustrated in their poems the religious temper,
its faith, doubts and conflicts of their time. The age these poets inherited was rather a fluid transitional

The progress of science had greatly influenced the temper of the age. Tennyson was conversant with
the concepts of geology, astrology and evolution, which contested and undermined the Biblical

A Profile Of Hamilton Albert Fish
A Profile of Hamilton Albert Fish
In the early summer of 1870 a forth child, Hamilton, was born into the home of Randall and Ellen Fish
of Washington, DC. The Fish family had a history of severe mental disorders: an paternal uncle who
had been diagnosed with religious psychosis, a maternal uncle who was diagnosed with schizophrenia,
and his mother claimed she had visions. Hamilton s siblings also had problems: his brother was
confined to a state mental hospital, his sister was diagnosed with a mental affliction, and his youngest
brother was slow witted and an alcoholic(Wertham, 2012). In 1870, little was known about the lineage
of schizophrenia , its sub types, and how it could effect future generations. Today we know genetic
factors may lead to schizophrenia and its sub types(Esterberg,2010). Little Hamilton Fish was born
with a vulnerability to schizophrenia and its sub types. This type of genetic vulnerability is called a
genetic marker. It is easier to think of a genetic marker as a genetic light switch, while not all switches
are turned on, some times a factor comes along and switches it to the on position; thus, the person
develops the genetic disorder. The traits and subtypes of this disorder in individuals who have been
abused can develop in to a perceived evil that will shock and strike terror in to society. In 1874,
Randall Fish died of a heart attack. Unable to care for her children Randall Fish s wife,Ellen Fish,

Anglo Saxon England Research Paper
Until today, the English monarchs bear the title Duke of Normandy. Anglo Saxon England refers to
the period of English history from the end of Roman Britain and the establishment of Anglo Saxon
kingdoms. Through the sub Roman period of English history, there is a strong cultural link back to the
period of Roman occupation. Relations were closer with Scandinavia than with central Europe.
Despite the geographical proximity of the French coast when the Anglo Saxon period ended and the

the Anglo Saxon period, England had taken the shape of the country that continues to be the Kingdom

Throughout the long Anglo Saxon period of England s history, the kingdoms existed as an offshore
island of continental Europe. The subsequent mixture of Anglo Saxon and Norman French cultures

Black Newspapers And The Holocaust
After researching newspaper articles covering the events of Kristallnacht, one question lingered: How
did black newspapers continue to cover the Holocaust? After finding limited articles pertaining to the
events of Kristallnacht, I was curious to see if more coverage would be dedicated to the events that
came after. I specifically wanted to look into African American newspapers of the day in order to see
how the African American community reacted to the atrocities. During this time period many African
Americans were facing persecution at home, so I figured they would approach new of the Holocaust

Were they given ample amounts of space to tell the full story or were they only given two paragraphs?
These questions can help me understand how prioritized news of the Holocaust was in the black
newspapers. Another driving question I had was how did the newspapers approach each story. Did
they approach it as a simple news piece only displaying the facts or did they dedicate space to give
their opinions on the matter? If they gave their opinions, we could see how African American
journalists thought about the events, and more importantly, how they wanted others in their
community to feel about these events. Lastly I wanted to know how these newspapers related these
stories to the persecution they faced in America. Did they use this opportunity to shed light on their
own suffering? Did they use their own suffering to offer empathy to European Jews? Did they use
their own suffering to discredit the suffering the European Jews? Answering these questions will be
immensely helpful when determining how black newspapers covered the Holocaust as it happened.
They will also help me focus on certain areas when looking over primary documents. During this time

The Civil Rights Movement Of North Carolina Essay
By the summer of 1964, David Cunningham writes in Klansville, U.S.A., the Carolina Klan
established a demanding schedule of nightly rallies across the state, where they enlisted thousands of
dues paying members. More than that, at its mid 1960s peak the Klan s presence in North Carolina
eclipsed klan membership in all other southern states combined. (Cunningham most likely put klan in
lowercase because of the groups disorganization.) North Carolina should have been the state where the
KKK thrived most during the mid 1960s Cunningham reports that in mid 1966 it had 192 Klaverns,
(branches of the Ku Klux Klan), and 52.2 percent of the total Klan membership in the 10 states of the
South was a mystery to many and a source of considerable dismay to the state s leadership, which
prided itself on its nonviolent response to the challenges posed by the civil rights movement. The state
had been described by V.O. Key, in his immensely influential (if now somewhat dated) Southern
Politics in State and Nation (1949), as energetic and ambitious with a reputation for progressive
outlook and action in many phases of life, especially industrial development, education, and race
relations, a judgment that had been confirmed by the election in 1960 of a notably capable and
progressive governor, Terry Sanford.

Social Work Reflection Paper
During my time at my practicum, I have not experienced any practice related ethical dilemmas. In
fact, as I am writing this, I have only been on the phones once since I just recently completed training.
For this assignment, I am going to use a hypothetical dilemma based on things I have witnessed
during my observation shifts, my knowledge of Headquarters Counseling Center, and my role as a
social work intern. The emotional reactions I discuss will be true of how I feel while imaging the
situation. At Headquarters, our primary focus is suicide prevention. As a social work intern, I see what
the agency does at many different levels. Answering the phones, though, is just beginning for me.
Counseling on the hotline will be my main job at my internship, so I will be discussing a dilemma
based on the phone counseling portion of my work. This is actually a situation I have thought about,
and I am worried about finding myself in, so I thought it would be good to work through it for this
assignment and hopefully feel more prepared when the time comes. When talking to suicidal others
(people who are calling us because they are concerned that someone else in their life is suicidal) on
the hotline, it is extremely important for us to assess the level of seriousness of the situation and
counsel the caller through the process as well. Often times, these callers want us to either call the
suicidal person for them, teach them the skills to help their friend/family member/etc. on their own, or
want us to call 911 to check on them. We reserve calling dispatch for when it is completely necessary.
However, what if it is necessary but the suicidal person refuses the help? The following is a specific
situation I have been thinking about and applying this ethical dilemma to. I receive a suicidal other
call from a woman in a different part of the state who is worried about a friend in Lawrence. The
friend has told her he is suicidal, that he plans to shoot himself in the head, and that he plans to do it
the same evening. She had not heard from her friend in several hours, since he told her about his plan,
and she is does not know of any friends or family he may have in town that could check on him.

Synthetic Leases
Abstract
By now most of us have heard and read numerous articles about synthetic leases. We also know
synthetic lease transactions are relatively commonplace for financing corporate build to suits and
acquisitions, and that they are widely accepted by corporate real estate executives, financial
institutions, and accounting firms. But is the synthetic lease a panacea for the corporate executive
faced with a leasing decision? Are they the perfect solution for keeping real estate assets oil the
company balance sheet? Are there any drawbacks to a synthetic lease? Before entering into a synthetic
lease, the corporate tenant should know the potential shortcomings of a synthetic lease as well as when
and when not to use one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Off balance sheet financing, for instance, operating and synthetic leases, not only overstates corporate
earnings and perjures their financial positions, it also allows them to preserve the ratios needed to
assure debt contracts. This decreases the authority of such contracts, because the companies are not in
reality keeping their debt ratios low; they re lying about the amount of debt they actually have
(Edman, 2011). Ethical professionals, who willfully present transparent financial statements, are the
only true way to prevent misconstrued financial statements. Likewise users of financial data will
always have their work cut out for them. Investors must be diligent to discover a company s true
financial state. FASB will never rid the world of every accounting inconsistency (Edman, 2011).
Synthetic leases can serve two important purposes: First, for financial accounting purposes, they
enable lessees/sponsors to treat leases as operating leases, whereby payments are recorded as rent
expense and the underlying assets and the associated liabilities are kept off the lessee s balance sheet.
This treatment of the lease enables the company to show a stronger balance sheet than if the lease was
treated as a capital lease (Soroosh and Ciesielski, 2009). Second, for federal income tax purposes,
these contracts are structured so that the lessee/sponsor may treat the

Twain s Huckleberry Finn and Kerouac s On the Road The River and the Road
One element that separates a good novel from a great novel is its enduring effects on society. A great
novel transcends time; it changes and mirrors the consciousness of a civilization. One such novel is
Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. For the past one hundred and fifteen years, it has
remained in print and has been one of the most widely studied texts in high schools and colleges.
According to Lionel Trilling, its success is due to Twain s voice of unpretentious truth (92) embodied
in the young narrator Huck Finn who reveals the hypocrisy and moral deprivation of society through
his innocent observations. It is a picaresque novel, or novel of ... Show more content on

Mark Twain s influence upon Kerouac is evident in On the Road as is suggested in biographical
details. Warren French states in his biography of Kerouac that Kerouac s first attempt to write a novel
at age 11 was an apparently quite slavish imitation of [Twain s] Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (4),
and Gerald Nicosia notes that Twain was one of the writers that Kerouac followed in his use of
idiomatic American diction (344). In addition, Kerouac himself warns his editor Helen Taylor in a
letter, no more irresponsible copy editing of my Mark Twain Huckleberry prose (131). He imitated the
naïve prose of Twain that only observes life and does not judge it, thereby creating an honest
reflection of life that ultimately affects the moral sensibilities of its audience.
One human aspect of life that is mirrored in the two narratives is the familial relationship between
each novel s two main characters. Huck would be as incomplete without Jim, as Sal would be without
Dean. Every place that Huck lives with Jim is his home. When they return to the island after finding a
corpse housebound and drifting, Huck explains, We got home all safe (Twain 72), and after the fog
separates them, he conveys, We said there warn t no home like a raft, after all (124). Their
relationship, symbolized in their emphasis of home, reveals the need for strong familial ties that
enable them to overcome the harsh social realities they encounter.

Target Market of Holden Monaro Essay examples
The Holden Monaro is a coupe sports car in the line of HSV, or Holden Sports Vehicles, made by its
namesake Australian company. The car comes in a couple different specifications, but the engine is
always either a V6 or a V8, making it a powerful and fast vehicle. The original Monaro was created in
1968 with different species of car throughout the next three years. The second generation of Holden
Monaros was begun in 1971, which changed the body design of the car completely as well as made
the V6 engine no longer an option. The 1970 s Monaro was definitely a muscle car, though over the
years until 1977 the vehicle became more of a luxury sedan instead of the hard muscle it had begun

The distinct identity that this vehicle has in the marketplace is that it is a phoenix of cars, reborn out of
the old model of the Holden Monaro and made into a new, slick version. Holden would position this in
the market by saying that it is the most powerful mainstream Holden to be brought out, drawing
people who desire that kind of brawn and intensity in a car. The focus of appeal for the vehicle was
how the Monaro made a possible consumer feel. The older men would feel nostalgia by thinking of
the old Monaro, even though the style of body would be different, the emotional attachment to the
name of Monaro would be the same. The younger generation might look at the vehicle and feel drawn
to its subtle curves and sporty body design, featuring the double scoop on the hood of the car. The
focus of appeal might be imagining yourself behind the wheel of the Monaro and feeling the power of
the engine and the bucket racing seats, knowing that the car you are driving is both luxurious and
nimble. Something about just looking at the car or watching an advertisement on the television would
stir an emotion in the target market, and make them likely to go for a test drive and ultimately
(hopefully) purchase the car. In my personal opinion, the Holden Monaro does not hold a
spectacularly distinct product position from the other Holden Sports Vehicles in that line of cars. The
newer models of Holden Commodores are also revitalised versions of the same vehicle

Later, the investors had a wide choices of diversified investment portfolio through the Mutual Funds.
In India, the Mutual Fund concept emerged in 1960. The first open ended Mutual Fund was created as

The High Five Analysis
A simple gesture of excitement and congratulations, a you did it! or way to go! are all interpretations
of the high five. The deemed creator of the high five, Glenn Burke, and his story is told in one of
ESPN s 30 for 30 segments, The High Five. In this documentary, the launch of one of the most, if not
the most understood gestures of appraisal and encouragement in sporting events is unveiled. Nearing
the end of the 1977 Dodger s baseball season, Steve Garvey, Reggie Smith, Ron Cey, and Dusty Baker
made major league baseball history in being the first quartet of players to hit thirty home runs in a
season. That in itself is headline news worthy but what happened after Dusty Baker finally hit his
thirtieth homerun, in the final game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Team performance is increased when it s members are supportive and they can rely on one another.
Burke s uplifting and energizing personality brought his team closer. He was a person who built
people up and supported them this was exemplified when he was asked if he created the high five he
said no, it was Dusty s accomplishment that brought it out of him. That is a player who doesn t want to
stand in the spotlight alone but be supportive of his team and lift them up to ensure they are standing
in the spotlight and sharing the glory. Burke to me seems like a player who could hit the game
winning run and still find a way to dim the light on him and exemplify his team. The high five became
a way for all players and fans to show excitement and lift someone else up and let them have their
moment. After accomplishing something that you have been striving to accomplish there is no greater
feeling than receiving a big high five of approval from the people who have been alongside seeing the
progress that you have made and how far you have

Computer Security And The Technology
Introduction: As time has gone on, society has advanced and the age of the computer came about,
bringing its own advantages and concerns. One such concern was the question of computer security
and personal information staying safe. It seems there has always been some form of computer security,
however this form is dynamic, always changing and advancing. This is due to the fact that the
technology that is made to bypass security is changing and advancing just as rapidly. Such as the
progression of DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, in previous years the attacks had a
maximum of about 10 Gbit/s, whereas now they can exceed 300 Gbit/s (Shorov Kotenko, 2014). This
constant advancement created a never ending battle between cyber security and the technology that is
meant to break past the security in place. In the modern age computer networks are the focus of many
attacks on organizations, institutions, and infrastructure (Shorov Kotenko, 2014). As computer
technologies began to grow, the security of these computer systems started to play a bigger and bigger
role, and new factors came into play. One factor that completely changed security in concerns to
computers was the internet. Computers went from being arranged in an ad hoc manner to suddenly
being all connected over the internet. This brought about major security concerns because individuals
and organizations didn t want their sensitive and personal data in the hands of others.
Many organizations began

The Pros And Cons Of Firefighter Grieving
On average there are there are 70 on duty firefighter fatalities in the United States every year. (
Firefighter Fatalities in the United States ). This means that an on duty firefighter dies about every 5
days. Firefighters have enough stress with their everyday job, then you add losing a fellow member it
puts another level to that stress. Imagine two siblings go out to play basketball like they do multiple
times everyday and one of them end up dying in a freak accident. Horrible right? It is the same thing
with firefighters. They go out on a call. There is a freak accident and there is not a great outcome. The
death of a fellow firefighter is like losing a brother or sister because you are living with them for
almost one third of your life. (Johnson). Firefighters are one big family. There has always been
firefighter fatalities. The questions has always been: How to deal with one when it happens. What is
the right amount of time off for grieving? Should there be mandatory counseling? Who do we bring in
to support the firefighters? The problem is that every fatal incident ... Show more content on

Grieving is a large part of the healing process. When there is any death anyone who is close with the
person grieves. The closer someone is to the person the longer it may take for them to finish the
grieving process. Giving firefighters mandatory time off for grieving is another way to deal with
firefighter fatalities. Failure to provide emotional and psychological support may result in the
resurgence of emotions during stressful situations, which may have a detrimental impact on safe
operations. (Theil, 19). Providing time for grieving is important. The problem is that the fire
department has to run and it cannot run without the firefighters. Giving mandatory grieving works in
theory but in reality there would not be anyone to run the fire

Human Geography In The Film A Bite Of China
In 2014, a Chinese documentary television series named A bite of China was popular in the world.
Chinese has been advocating food is the paramount necessity of the people , and create a splendid
food culture during the thousands of years. The seven episode documentary series not only shows
delicious Chinese food but only Chinese culture. Audiences could learn the migrate history of Chinese
people, current situation of education and economics growth in China through foods. I find some
concepts about human geography in the documentary.
During the class, we talked about the categories of the world system, and China belongs to Semi
Periphery due to the large land mass. Similarly, a country also has the categories, some cities are core

As a country with huge population, population migration in China is a very common phenomenon.
The factors impacting population distribution we learned in class also showed in the documentaries. In
the developing countries like China, most people leave their hometown and move to elsewhere is
always for resource availability and political and economic situation. Young people swarm into big
cities to look for a better work or education opportunities. The national college entrance examination
in China is a crucial turning point for the fortune for millions of young people. A lot of family with
high school students move to bigger cities and let teenagers study in a high school with higher
education level in order to expect teenagers have better performance in the exam. The tight learning
schedule and precious breaking time force parents who can afford it choose to accompany their
children studying at school. Chinese parents devote their time and energy to the next generation, they
are willing to leave hometown and leave the situation they are familiar with to strive for a better
environment for their children. And I think this is a special connection with parents and their children

environment, specifically discussing collaboration techniques, interaction between leaders and
followers, and supportive communication. Therefore, covering the decision making environment, risk
management, and how the organization resolves conflict through the strategic negotiation process.
Secondly, I will examine its approach to accomplish team building and drive innovation.

Military Deployment Analysis
The psychological legacies of military deployment have garnered significant and long lasting interest
from academics and health service professionals. Further, veterans of the 1991 Gulf War have received
particular attention both anecdotally and academically (Unwin et al., 1999). In their article War
Related Psychological Stressors and Risk of Psychological Disorders in Australian Veterans of the
1991 Gulf War, Ikin et al. (2004) sought to extend previous research and began with the primary aim
to measure psychological disorders in Australian Gulf War veterans and a military comparison group.
In addition, a possible association with exposure to Gulf War related psychological stressors was
explored. As with any publication, both positives and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise the discussion was informative and any confusion/criticism is primarily the result of
formatting issues highlighted earlier. The findings support earlier research by Sutker, Davis, Uddo,
Ditta, 1995) who found that Gulf War deployment was associated with higher levels of post service
psychological distress. Similarly British Gulf War veterans were found to be three times more likely to
meet Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) criteria than British soldiers who were fit to deploy but
did not (Unwin et al., 1999). Findings also mirrored Hobfall et al. (1991) who linked greater exposure

Breast Enhancement Product Essay
Every woman wants to feel beautiful and sexy and having full perky breasts is a way to achieve that.
Women that aren t satisfied with their breast size often feel self conscious, feel badly about
themselves. The good news is women can get the breasts that are sought after in a safe, natural way. It
s a matter of finding the right breast enhancement product that will match their needs.
There are plenty of options on the market so the only issue is figuring out what breast enlargement
product is the right one for you. To ensure you get the breast enhancement product that fits your needs,
here are seven great tips to help you;
1) Find a Product That Works

The health authorities will ensure that the product is safe for the public.
4) Possible Side Effects
Youthful Appearance
It s important to make sure there are no serious side effects
For your own health, make sure to look at the ingredients and what the side effects might be.
Whatever your choice is, whether it be supplemental pills, stimulating gels or both, take into
consideration the side effects that the products may produce in you.
Check to see if customers have made remarks about side effects. It s also important to make sure there
are no serious side effects. Figuring out the various components will allow you to access the effect it
could have on your system.
5) Weight Gain
Some products can cause you to gain weight which is obviously not the desired effect. Sacrificing
your shape to have larger breasts is not the goal so it s best to avoid these products. Make sure to
check on the warning label or small print whether or not the product could cause weight gain.
6) What the Product Contains
No woman wants to put unknown chemicals on their skin, especially their breasts. Women don t want
to compromise and expose their body to potential health issues. Most breast enlargement products on
the market will contain all natural ingredients. It is strongly discouraged that women should use any
chemical compound like synthetic hormones.
7) The Whole Package
If you re going to take the journey to enhance your breasts,

  • 2. Mechanism of Melatonin Stimulation of Growth Hormone... Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin inhibition Joseph Angelo Israel Peguit University of the Philippines in the Visayas Cebu College Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division Abstract Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone releasing hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote growth hormone secretion while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents growth hormone secretion. Many studies have already shown that melatonin stimulates secretion of growth hormone via somatostatin inhibition but its mechanisms remain unknown. I hypothesized that melatonin inhibits somatostatin at transcription level through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the SCN in the hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of the superfamily of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are coupled to a number of effector systems influencing the intracellular signalling. They are designated as Gi/Go type because of their characteristic being inhibited by the presence of pertussis toxin[8]. Transduction Pathway The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate cyclase, phospholipase C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion channels[8,6,33]. The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by direct inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by activation of ATP sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to activation of ATP sensitive K+ channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly results to hyperpolarization of the membrane. The hyperpolarization inactivates the voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during membrane depolarization[8,6]. Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC functions to catalyze hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol (DAG). Inositol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And God did deliver him from evil; he was able to finish the wall of Jerusalem in the month of Elul, in fifty two days (Neh. 6:9 15). Throughout chapter 6, Nehemiah faced hardship, fear and evil. It was his faith in God that got him through and even though he finished the wall of Jerusalem, Tobiah was still sending letter to put him in fear (Neh. 6:19). Search Strategies A search strategy is used to guide a researcher in using databases to find information such as keywords, subject headings, and criteria for inclusion or exclusion of material (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2015). After much discussion, a group PICOT question was identified: In adult patients on a medical surgical unit who meet sepsis criteria (P) does the use of a nurse driven sepsis protocol (I), compared to usual care (C), affect the time of initiating sepsis protocol (O) over the span of three months (T)? The purpose of this paper is to describe the search strategy and process that was used to obtain pertinent articles for evidence that are directly related to the established PICOT question. Tazbir (2012) and Schorr, Odden, Evans, Escobar, Bandi, Townsend, and Levy (2016) developed articles that are specific to the medical surgical unit and defined several factors as to what may play into the higher mortality rate of the patients that are diagnosed there. Schorr et al. (2016) further examined and compared emergency department (ED) versus medical surgical treatment of sepsis. Kleinpell, Aitken, and Schorr (2013) gave thorough, in depth knowledge of nurses role, sepsis, and treatment guidelines describing initial, three hour, and six hour bundles. Medley O Keefe, Gatewood, Wemple, Greco, Kritek, and Durvasula (2015) gave interesting statistics to support nurse driven testing and sepsis specific goal directed therapy. Lopez Bushneil, Demaray, and Jaco (2014) and Kleinpell (2017) defined sepsis screening tools with complete sepsis protocols and identified studies in which nurses are authorized to identify signs and symptoms, order necessary blood testing, and initiate protocols. Additionally, Kleinpell (2017) identified studies in which nurses completed Sepsis Power Hour in which blood cultures, lactate, and fluid boluses were independently initiated by the nurse. • 5. Loving Story Essay The Loving Story The journey that Richard and Mildred Loving took is important for history and for the future of civil rights in the United States. I recently watched the documentary The Loving Story and enjoyed the footage, pictures, and interviews of everyone involved in the Loving v. Virginia case. The documentary addressed the issue of interracial marriage in Virginia in 1967. The married partners, Richard and Mildred, were woken up in the middle of the night and were criminally charged for being in the state of Virginia and being married. Richard was a white male, Mildred was a African American and Native American, and that was the problem that they faced at that point in history. During this time, it was illegal to be of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It got across to us that the two people involved with each other and married are just as normal as any straight, white, and married couple. The problem people had, and probably still do have, is that they do not see them as normal people. They are different because of their race, sexuality, class status, etcetera . The human face and cost is lost in the their eyes. The photos at the end showed how they were not different from a couple that was made up of two white or two black people. They were courageous and inspiring people in history and that is what they will be remembered for. Mildred and Richard Loving made it possible for people of two different races to get married in their case that made it to the Supreme Court. My reflections after viewing this film, moved towards thinking about our current situation of not allowing people of the LGBT community get married. The opinions and bigotry that are still instilled in our society. For those that say that we have moved past our prejudiced views as a society in the United States; I would say that they are wrong. The Loving story was significant in so many ways towards moving our world into a better place for all. • 8. Myth Gender Based Wage Gap Myth Gender Based Wage Gap Raaga Agraharam Soc 101 Introduction: On January 29, 2016, The White House Press Office released a FACT SHEET on new steps to advance equal pay for women. This FACT SHEET states that, the median wage of a woman working full time all year in the United States is about $39,600 only 79 percent of a man s median earnings of $50,400 (The White House, 2016). However, many scholars and economists disagree that a gender wage gap exists. In addition, conservative political experts and bloggers promote the notion that gender based wage gap is an idea propagated by feminists, women empowering organizations, and progressives. However, almost all the working women in the United States, and organizations such as Institute for Women s Policy Research (IRWP), and American Association of University Women (AAAU), strongly believe in the existence of the gender wage gap. This sociological issue of equal pay for women is extremely relevant in today s environment where women perform equal work as men in many occupations. Furthermore, with almost 50% of the work force being women, women contributing equally to the family income, and a large number of women being the single parents supporting children, lack of equal pay over time could increase the poverty rates for women (White House, 2016). In addition, IWPR s 2015 report on the status of American women, states that if women receive equal pay for the same work, poverty rate among women will see a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. High School Athletes Should Be Required The NCAA states, Nearly eight million students currently participate in high school athletics in the United States. More than 460,000 compete as NCAA athletes, and just a select few within each sport move on to compete at the professional or Olympic level ( Estimated Probability ). Everyone agrees that Americans have to improve academic achievement in schools today; however, it is hard to do so with a barrage of athletic activities. Students are focusing more on sports then academics, and this diversion seems to be costly. In order to fix this, high school athletes should be required to maintain a 2.3 grade point average in order to participate in sports because the primary mission of any serious academic institution must be to develop the young person s intellectual and cognitive skills and help one get recruited; also, there is a very low chance of athletes continuing their careers at the college or professional level. The primary purpose of any academic institution is to develop and prepare a young person for after his schooling years. In, The Purpose of Schools, Michael Peterson states the two goals of any school: to teach students who have specific skills to perform jobs, and introduce students to active citizenry (Peterson). In other words, Peterson argues how a school must prepare one for his or her future instead of preparing them for a career in sports. • 11. The Civil War And Reconstruction Period Essay The Civil War and Reconstruction period provided African American people with a legal definition of citizenship through three constitutional amendments. Beginning with the 13th Amendment slavery was abolished, then 14th Amendment provided equal protection under the law, and lastly the 15th Amendment allowed all men, including African Americans, the ability to vote. However, the transition from enslavement to freedom was a difficult and terrifying one for most black women as they had little or no money, limited or no education and little access to it, and faced racism that impacted every aspect of their lives. However, the Reconstruction period in America promised African Americans a new life of freedom with the same inalienable rights provided to other American citizens and allowed for many social reforms to take place during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to the efforts of African American women. The period from the 1860s to the turn of the twentieth century, or the Reconstruction period, marked a transitional era of mixing a new socioeconomic and political infrastructure into the United States. Reconstruction was a comprehensive era that united the once disregarded demographic groups of African Americans into mainstream America. With emancipation of blacks throughout the nation and the post war constitutional amendments, this period observed the historical extension of social and political liberties to four million emancipated African Americans. ... • 12. The Effects Of Physical Abuse On Child Abuse The United States has been fighting the war against child abuse since the first case of child abuse in 1874 that included a child being beaten and chained against her will (Meadows, 2014). Many people hear the words child abuse and think of physical abuse. While, many people are correct in thinking of physical abuse, an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) study done by the CDC shows that although physical abuse is the leading form of child abuse, emotional or psychological abuse is the second leading form of child abuse (2014). Although one would think sexual abuse along with physical abuse would be the prominent form of abuse, this is not the case. One of the major reasons emotional neglect is more prominent than sexual abuse is due to the fact that emotional abuse is not being overlooked as often as it used to. In fact, it is now being seen as the gateway to physical and sexual abuse (Garbarino, Guttman, Seeley, 1988). The amounts of consequences that come from being abused as a child are countless as well as life changing, some of these life changing effects were identified by the CDC as drug abuse, sexual transmitted diseases, suicidal thoughts, and difficulty learning (2014). When a child who has been abused begins school they approach the classroom setting, similar to a dog that has been abused by its owner approaches other humans, the child approaches the classroom with a skeptical attitude (Fink, A. While they are trying to adapt to that culture, mistakes might happen because of their unappropriated language and behavior. Mussolini s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal Italian state, which existed before his take over. When Giolitti was in power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and support the liberal state, however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he would end up alienating the other. During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding of trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of socialism. The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini gain power due to his anti communist beliefs. The Civil Rights Movement Of North Carolina Essay By the summer of 1964, David Cunningham writes in Klansville, U.S.A., the Carolina Klan established a demanding schedule of nightly rallies across the state, where they enlisted thousands of dues paying members. More than that, at its mid 1960s peak the Klan s presence in North Carolina eclipsed klan membership in all other southern states combined. (Cunningham most likely put klan in lowercase because of the groups disorganization.) North Carolina should have been the state where the KKK thrived most during the mid 1960s Cunningham reports that in mid 1966 it had 192 Klaverns, (branches of the Ku Klux Klan), and 52.2 percent of the total Klan membership in the 10 states of the South was a mystery to many and a source of considerable dismay to the state s leadership, which prided itself on its nonviolent response to the challenges posed by the civil rights movement. In fact, as I am writing this, I have only been on the phones once since I just recently completed training. For this assignment, I am going to use a hypothetical dilemma based on things I have witnessed during my observation shifts, my knowledge of Headquarters Counseling Center, and my role as a social work intern. The emotional reactions I discuss will be true of how I feel while imaging the situation. At Headquarters, our primary focus is suicide prevention. As a social work intern, I see what the agency does at many different levels. Answering the phones, though, is just beginning for me. Counseling on the hotline will be my main job at my internship, so I will be discussing a dilemma based on the phone counseling portion of my work. This is actually a situation I have thought about, and I am worried about finding myself in, so I thought it would be good to work through it for this assignment and hopefully feel more prepared when the time comes. When talking to suicidal others (people who are calling us because they are concerned that someone else in their life is suicidal) on the hotline, it is extremely important for us to assess the level of seriousness of the situation and counsel the caller through the process as well. Often times, these callers want us to either call the suicidal person for them, teach them the skills to help their friend/family member/etc. on their own, or want us to call 911 to check on them. We reserve calling dispatch for when it is completely necessary. However, what if it is necessary but the suicidal person refuses the help? The following is a specific situation I have been thinking about and applying this ethical dilemma to. According to Lionel Trilling, its success is due to Twain s voice of unpretentious truth (92) embodied in the young narrator Huck Finn who reveals the hypocrisy and moral deprivation of society through his innocent observations. It is a picaresque novel, or novel of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mark Twain s influence upon Kerouac is evident in On the Road as is suggested in biographical details. Warren French states in his biography of Kerouac that Kerouac s first attempt to write a novel at age 11 was an apparently quite slavish imitation of [Twain s] Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (4), and Gerald Nicosia notes that Twain was one of the writers that Kerouac followed in his use of idiomatic American diction (344). In addition, Kerouac himself warns his editor Helen Taylor in a letter, no more irresponsible copy editing of my Mark Twain Huckleberry prose (131). He imitated the naïve prose of Twain that only observes life and does not judge it, thereby creating an honest reflection of life that ultimately affects the moral sensibilities of its audience. One human aspect of life that is mirrored in the two narratives is the familial relationship between each novel s two main characters. Huck would be as incomplete without Jim, as Sal would be without Dean. Every place that Huck lives with Jim is his home. When they return to the island after finding a corpse housebound and drifting, Huck explains, We got home all safe (Twain 72), and after the fog separates them, he conveys, We said there warn t no home like a raft, after all (124). Their relationship, symbolized in their emphasis of home, reveals the need for strong familial ties that enable them to overcome the harsh social realities they encounter. • 40. Target Market of Holden Monaro Essay examples The Holden Monaro is a coupe sports car in the line of HSV, or Holden Sports Vehicles, made by its namesake Australian company. The car comes in a couple different specifications, but the engine is always either a V6 or a V8, making it a powerful and fast vehicle. The original Monaro was created in 1968 with different species of car throughout the next three years. The second generation of Holden Monaros was begun in 1971, which changed the body design of the car completely as well as made the V6 engine no longer an option. The 1970 s Monaro was definitely a muscle car, though over the years until 1977 the vehicle became more of a luxury sedan instead of the hard muscle it had begun with. The Monaro was finally reborn in the 2000 s and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The distinct identity that this vehicle has in the marketplace is that it is a phoenix of cars, reborn out of the old model of the Holden Monaro and made into a new, slick version. Holden would position this in the market by saying that it is the most powerful mainstream Holden to be brought out, drawing people who desire that kind of brawn and intensity in a car. The focus of appeal for the vehicle was how the Monaro made a possible consumer feel. The older men would feel nostalgia by thinking of the old Monaro, even though the style of body would be different, the emotional attachment to the name of Monaro would be the same. The younger generation might look at the vehicle and feel drawn to its subtle curves and sporty body design, featuring the double scoop on the hood of the car. The focus of appeal might be imagining yourself behind the wheel of the Monaro and feeling the power of the engine and the bucket racing seats, knowing that the car you are driving is both luxurious and nimble. Something about just looking at the car or watching an advertisement on the television would stir an emotion in the target market, and make them likely to go for a test drive and ultimately (hopefully) purchase the car. In my personal opinion, the Holden Monaro does not hold a spectacularly distinct product position from the other Holden Sports Vehicles in that line of cars. The newer models of Holden Commodores are also revitalised versions of the same vehicle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The High Five Analysis A simple gesture of excitement and congratulations, a you did it! or way to go! are all interpretations of the high five. The deemed creator of the high five, Glenn Burke, and his story is told in one of ESPN s 30 for 30 segments, The High Five. In this documentary, the launch of one of the most, if not the most understood gestures of appraisal and encouragement in sporting events is unveiled. Nearing the end of the 1977 Dodger s baseball season, Steve Garvey, Reggie Smith, Ron Cey, and Dusty Baker made major league baseball history in being the first quartet of players to hit thirty home runs in a season. Team performance is increased when it s members are supportive and they can rely on one another. Burke s uplifting and energizing personality brought his team closer. He was a person who built people up and supported them this was exemplified when he was asked if he created the high five he said no, it was Dusty s accomplishment that brought it out of him. That is a player who doesn t want to stand in the spotlight alone but be supportive of his team and lift them up to ensure they are standing in the spotlight and sharing the glory. Burke to me seems like a player who could hit the game winning run and still find a way to dim the light on him and exemplify his team. The high five became a way for all players and fans to show excitement and lift someone else up and let them have their moment. After accomplishing something that you have been striving to accomplish there is no greater feeling than receiving a big high five of approval from the people who have been alongside seeing the progress that you have made and how far you have ... • 43. Computer Security And The Technology Introduction: As time has gone on, society has advanced and the age of the computer came about, bringing its own advantages and concerns. One such concern was the question of computer security and personal information staying safe. It seems there has always been some form of computer security, however this form is dynamic, always changing and advancing. This is due to the fact that the technology that is made to bypass security is changing and advancing just as rapidly. Such as the progression of DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, in previous years the attacks had a maximum of about 10 Gbit/s, whereas now they can exceed 300 Gbit/s (Shorov Kotenko, 2014). This constant advancement created a never ending battle between cyber security and the technology that is meant to break past the security in place. In the modern age computer networks are the focus of many attacks on organizations, institutions, and infrastructure (Shorov Kotenko, 2014). As computer technologies began to grow, the security of these computer systems started to play a bigger and bigger role, and new factors came into play. One factor that completely changed security in concerns to computers was the internet. Computers went from being arranged in an ad hoc manner to suddenly being all connected over the internet. This brought about major security concerns because individuals and organizations didn t want their sensitive and personal data in the hands of others. Many organizations began ...
