Hester Prynne Rebellion Quotes
Summer Reading Essay
Hester Prynne of Nathanial Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter defies the Puritan belief system through
her rebellion and compassion. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion. Hester
Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam, commits the crime of
adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne describes her crime in
dialogue between Hester s husband, who has just arrived in Boston and is unaware of Hester s
circumstances, and a towns member who infers as to what she has done and how much of an uproar it
has caused, during her public punishment, in the government forces her to stand on a scaffold for three
hours and condemned to wear an A on her chest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through rebellion
because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely disobeys the
laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief system through
the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her wedlock child for the
first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and how the town
reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her dimmed and
obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her beauty shone
out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46). This quote
shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime is seen in
the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and weakness as
she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high, ignoring their
judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the mannerisms the
Puritan s expected of her. Along with her rebellion, Hester Prynne defies the Puritan belief system

Chick Fil A Swot Analysis
My company of choice is Chick fil A, and I believe an appropriate mission statement would be, to
serve the best tasting, freshest chicken sandwich while glorifying God and having a positive influence
on the families who enjoy it. Some objectives that the company could strive for to achieve this goal
could be to:
Retain a commitment to using fresh chicken and ingredients
Provide a family friendly atmosphere
Hire employees that respect customers and value the mission statement
Give back to the community
Treat employees with respect
After researching the SWOT analysis of Chick fil A, I found that some of the strengths include: it is an
established brand in the United States, it has a successful marketing campaign ( Eat Mor Chikin ),

Maybe it is difficult for the company to find a customer base outside the US, or maybe it would be too
difficult to find employees outside of the US who support and adhere to their mission statement.
Whatever their reason, I believe it would be beneficial to make an attempt at expanding outside the
United States. They also have a fraction of the locations that their competitors possess. McDonald s
currently has 36,900 stores, Burger King has 15,000, and Chick fil A has about 2200. Again, Chick fil
A does not have a significant presence outside the US, but the other companies do, which could
account for a large portion of the difference. Opening more franchises would create a larger customer
base for the company and would maximize profits, changing this weakness to a strength. An
opportunity for Chick fil A is the young people and families who are moving to the metropolitan areas
around the country (which is where most of the restaurants are) need a family friendly, clean place to
eat out. I believe that they will continue to attract this client base if they continue to run the business
as they have

The Main Features Of Autism Spectrum Disorder
Describe the main features of autism spectrum disorder. Evaluate the evidence supporting a biological
basis for autism. Autism is a developmental disorder which usually occurs during infancy (Hyman,
2002:217). Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an umbrella term used to refer to many disorders
which display symptoms of an autistic style. The spectrum covers all types of symptoms ranging from
mild to severe (Hollander, 2003:102). Individuals in the spectrum can range from having severe
learning disabilities to being mildly impaired (Nimh.nih.gov, 2014). The linguistic skills can also vary
from being mute to having the ability to communicate complex sentences (ibid). The different profiles
of the sufferers are diverse (Hyman, 2002:217). However, there are three main areas of which they
may have difficulties. These are social reciprocity, an inability to communicate effectively and unusual
repetitive or restricted behaviour (Davey, 2014:586) this is known as the triad of impairments (Dodd,
2005:2). This essay will explain the triad of impairments related to ASD to describe the main features
of the disorder. In addition, it will evaluate the biological evidence by investigating the research for
genetic factors and brain abnormalities, both of which support a biological basis for ASD (Davey,
2014:588). The first main area that describes the features of ASD is impairments of reciprocal social
interaction (Davey, 2014:585). This is one of the most dominant features of ASD.

Socioecological Framework Case Study
1. Framing the problem using Socioecological Framework In this section, I will describe the
determinants of type 2 diabetes in the over age 65 population in the U.S. and current researches,
programs and policies at multiple levels of socio ecological framework. a. Individual The individual
level of socio ecological framework aims to identify the personal behavioral, biological, demographic
as well as personal cumulative experiences factors. Cumulatively unhealthy food and drink intake,
lack of self motivation to regular physical activities, smoking habits and obesity are factors that
increase the risk of type 2 diabetes for aged population. Sometimes, the change of life style due to
aging is also related to the type 2 diabetes. Psychosocial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Community The community contexts engage broader relationships, as neighborhoods or workplaces.
This level of socio ecological framework intends to find out the features of these settings that are
related to the development of type 2 diabetes among elders. According to a study of the University of
Chicago, moving to a prosperous neighborhood significantly reduce their risk of developing type 2
diabetes and obesity 11, which illustrates how significant impact the community can have on the risk
of type 2 diabetes. For a community where grocery stores are hard to access while fast food
restaurants are easier to access, individuals living there may have higher risk of getting type 2
diabetes. On the other hand, communities have no fewer access to exercise facilities are related to
higher risk of type 2 diabetes. Social isolation, lack of clinics in the community also associated with
type 2 diabetes among elders. Researches about self management education of type 2 diabetes in the
school proved the effectiveness of prevention at community level12. d. Societal The societal level of
determinants includes the public policies, health care systems, industries that produce products
targeting elders etc. Societal factors that leads to higher risk of type 2 diabetes includes cultural
preference on unbalanced diets and lack of social leadership of healthy life

The Debate Of Economics Between Bentham And Aristotle
A Debate of Economics Between Bentham and Aristotle
With all the many issues facing our country today it is difficult to pin down exactly what the biggest
issue is, so instead of picking the biggest issue I decided to pick the issue that has affected people the
most in this country as well as other countries which would be economics. When it comes to
economics the biggest issue facing our country is that we no longer produce what we need to keep up
with our economic system, so what if the philosophers that created the ideas and basic principles so
long ago were around now, and furthermore, what if they were running for the two thousand sixteen
presidential election? In the following I will present a debate between the famous philosophers
Bentham and Aristotle in regards to the current economic system.
Moderator:
First question of the debate: How would you, as US president restore the production of goods to
improve our economic system?
Aristotle s Response
As someone who believes in economic equality I believe that economic scarcity is an inevitable aspect
of human nature that being said, the action we must take as a country to improve is looking at
economic actions as a opportunity to use goods only as an essential for life. To conclude my answer to
this question I believe that as long as goods and services are used to have helpful uses to people it is
essential to our economy because if we are putting money into goods that are useless it s a waste of
money, and

Pros And Cons Of The Witch Trials
Doctor William Beaumont discovered that gastric juices digest food by treating a gunshot patient who
s wound healed forming a hole. Nazis are bad. Nazis performed inhumane experiments on many
people they deemed as inferior . The Angel of Death Josef Mengele was fascinated with twins and
conducted many experiments on them because they were natural controls . In the 1930s, German
medical schools led such experiments in eugenics and promoted the concept of the Aryan purity.
Mengele performed experiments such as: blood transfusions between twins, stitched two twins
together as conjoined twins, electric shock, exposing women to high radiation subjecting them for
sterilization, and even tossing escaped Jewish children in pits of burning gasoline. He escaped war
criminal charges throughout the entirety of his life. After World War Two, German physicians pleaded
that what they had done should not be considered war crimes because they had only been following
orders and were not very different from what American physicians would do to captives. The
Nuremberg trials created ten principles for ethical experimentation and that anyone should freely
consent to participation. Similarly, American researchers experimented on orphans, inmates, mental
institution patients, and military personnel. Soldiers were unknowingly introduced to mustard gas
which was later tested as an anticancer drug. During times of war, protection of human rights was
undervalued. American physicians injected many

Essay on Necessity of Pre-nuptial Agreements within Australia
Necessity of Pre nuptial Agreements within Australia
Legislation recognising pre nuptial agreements has been well overdue and this recognition will
significantly improve the social and economic impact of divorce.
Pre nuptial agreements, however controversial, are nothing more than a commonsense idea which not
only eases the burden that the financial division of divorce has of the courts, but makes the whole
divorce proceedings emotionally and financially easier for everyone involved. Something as simple as
a contract which states the financial situation of each party before marriage is not giving up before you

It also deals with, to a small extent , the extra finance given to whoever would have custody of the
children post divorce, though this is mostly in the hands of the divorce courts. (www.pre

divorce, as it is making it easier for everyone involved.
Before December 2000, pre nuptial agreements were not held legally binding by legal courts couples
could form their own agreement before marriage but the courts did not have to stick by them. This
created a problem within the marriage where certain circumstances called for the division of property
to be different from that as stated by the Family Law Act. Some of these special circumstances might
include if you want to keep premarital assets seperate, if you are blending families (both partners
already have children), you want to ensure that the family wealth stays within the family, or if you
simply just want certainty as to property rights and maintenance payments upon a potential divorce.

Hence the results of this study can provide valuable insights and lead to a better understanding of the
perceptions of each of these two major groups towards creating an overall effectiveness measurement
to evaluate the CAIS Control System practices in a less developed country. This study to the best of
the researchers knowledge is the first that attempts to create an overall effectiveness measurement for
evaluating the CAIS Control System through specifying all required components that should exist in
the effective control system in the Jordanian banking sector. Following consultations with experts in
this field, a questionnaire was developed for the purpose of this study to evaluate the general CAIS
control procedures that would be applied to all CS, which affect all computer applications in the
organization. This questionnaire covers different parts of CS in CAIS. This research attempts to
answer the following questions: (1) What is the actual practice in the Jordanian domestic banks
regarding information CS? In addition, are these CS adequate to protect the domestic banks against
perceived security threats? (2) Are there significant differences among the respondents in the research
sample (Internal Auditors and HOCD) regarding the effectiveness level of

Mammy Archetype
All African Americans have been portrayed in stereotypical roles since their arrival into American
society for the entertainment and amusement of others. Many people find it difficult to appreciate the
diversity of the African American women. So instead of trying to do this, they create identities based
on negative stereotypes. There are several negative stereotypes associated with the African American
woman. The Mammy archetype is the one chosen to be analyzed in this essay. Collins described the
mammy as the faithful, obedient domestic servant. Created to justify the economic exploitation of
house slaves and sustained to explain Black women s long standing restriction to domestic service...

Mammy is also seen as a very loyal and faithful woman to the one she cares for, but still not respected.
Like the traditional mammy figure, the modern day mammy is almost always large, asexual, and wise.
One factor that might separate the modern day mammy from the traditional mammy is that the modern
day mammy seems to have a little more attitude or sass. She also comes in many different skin tones,
but still not light skin.
Mabel Madea Simmons is a fictional character created and played by Tyler Perry himself. The
character is a tough elderly black woman. Madea gets even, mostly in a bad way. Madea is also highly
overreactive. She is seen willingly threatening the use of deadly weapons, destroying property, using
physical violence, and she loves to take on the law. Because of her overreactive ways, Madea has
repeatedly landed herself in court, anger management classes, house arrest, and even prison.
Despite some of the negative traits that she does possess, Madea does exhibit the traits of the Mammy
such as: being a nurturer, a caregiver, and a protector, while also maintaining the basic appearance of a
Mammy. Historically, Mammy was shown to have extreme loyalty to the white family that she cared
for and showed devotion towards them while not showing a lot of attention to her own family, if she
even had one at all. Madea does this but in her own way. She has the same loyalty and dedication but
hers is

Personal Narrative-River Rafting In California
For a minute, I thought that I was going to lose more of my family, my grandmother, Vonnie Dynes,
said. In the summer of 2013, my parents, brother, sister, 60 year old grandparents, and I were set to go
on vacation to San Francisco, California. We were going to see a San Francisco Giants baseball game
and go to Alcatraz Island, a national park that used to hold some of the most dangerous criminals in
the United States. After packing all of our luggage into our red, 2010 Nissan Armada, we were ready
to leave my Southern California home and drive up the coast of California. Before reaching our final
destination, we decided to stop in Central California to do an activity that we had never tried before:

guide made sure that we did not hit any rocks along the way. Next, we ate lunch and drove back up the

thought it would be a piece of cake. I was the best rafter in the family my brother Bronson said. After
more great memories were made during the second voyage down the Kern, our raft came to a
screeching half. We hit a large rock that was sticking out of the water. Our raft quickly folded in half
into the shape of a taco, and my grandpa held onto his side of the rap before falling into the water and
flowing down the intense waters. I tried to lunge at him and catch him, but I was not quick enough. I
watched him sail down the river in the California Lounge Chair Position. I held onto hope that he
would be safe. Seconds later, my ten year old sister almost fell out of the raft, but my dad was able to
grab her just in time. I wasn t going to let my little girl fall into that damn river, my dad, Patrick Dynes

The Agricultural Equipment Industry And Culture On A...
The agricultural equipment industry is one that is very important to the global market because it
impacts both the United State s and Brazil s economies greatly. The balance of trade between the US
and Brazil relies on the success of agricultural equipment as a whole. This paper will analyze the
history of agricultural equipment and how machinery has impacted the farming industry and culture
on a global scale, and continues to do so.
History In order to gain an understanding of the agricultural equipment industry, we have to
acknowledge the history in this area. In the 1920 s, most farmers practiced farming with horses pulling
plows attached to them, which prepped the land for planting crops. Machines that picked crops had
not been invented by the 1920 s, so farmers had to harvest their crops by hand. John Froelich invented
of the first internal combustion traction motor, or tractor and had sold 20 of his tractors by 1914
through partnering with 8 investors from the Waterloo Gasoline Traction Engine Company.
Eventually, John Deere purchased the first tractor company to ever exist in 1918, and paid $2,350,000
for it. Needless to say, John Deere has seen a large return on their investment. Although manufacturers
such as John Deere in the United States had began to lead the way in building and assembling
mechanized tractors, this luxury was not widely utilized by farmers around the country because
tractors were both very expensive and limited. Eventually, tractors

All Creatures Great And Small By James Herriot
Introduction All Creatures Great and Small was James Herriot s first book to be published in the
United States. In this book, the mature Herriot tells about his youthful self, when he graduated from
veterinary school and began working in rural veterinary practice. The narrator like the reader is able to
laugh at his naïveté of Herriot, as well as at the people who surround him, including Siegfried Farnon,
and his brother, Tristan Farnon. This memoir of James Herriot flashes the simple and laid back lives of
the countryside folks. It exhibits their struggles, cultures, etiquette, hardships and relationships. The
stories that are depicted in this book is loosely based on Herriot s life as a young veterinarian in the
rough English countryside pre WWII. There he encounters many different people and animals from
dogs and cats to livestock.
From the first day of Herriot s arrival at Skeldale House, being greeted by a troop of enthusiastic,
leaping, barking dogs, to the week of tuberculin testing that brings the book to a close, we share the
moments of joy, laughter, tears, nerves, confidence, mix ups, and triumphs involved in his Yorkshire
veterinary practice of the 1930s. We meet the eccentric Siegfried Farnon and the carefree Tristan
Farnon and many interesting people around the Dales, not to mention those marvellous animals who
shall live on just like the human characters. Who could ever forget Tricki Woo and Nugent that made

expressing the writer s emotions about his hardships in life, but also didactic as it teaches you to forge
your own path in life. This poem follows a ABAB rhyme pattern, and has four stanzas which includes
four quatrains. The first stanza indicates the difficulty in life and thanks thegods for the strength they

which made an impact on her life by challenging her with no vision or hearing. (Williams) Keller

family could communicate with her, but she had to continue to do so until her teacher came along.
Keller grew up with her teacher Anne Sullivan, who helped her learn to communicate even with the

A Report On Sales Tracking Software
Sales Tracking Software
The purpose of this document is to describe the change that is going to take place that will consist of
implementation of software to track sales. This change will have a major impact on the sales associate
team, hence why it should be thought out very deliberately and outlined clearly. This change
implementation plan will describe the following: the type of change, the change process, and what
should be done in case there is resistance to the change.
Type of Change

Expectations for the leadership team beginning January 1, 2017: the leadership team will be expected
to audit all entered sales within XYZ Software in order to track the success and opportunities of the
sales team. Leadership personnel are to review pending and finalized sales with sales staff at all team
and one on one meetings. Sales statistics generated from the automated system are to be reviewed at
all leadership team meeting to help prepare for future sales decisions and strategies.
Change Process
Climate of Change
First step within the change process is to create a climate of change for the employees. Not just for the
sales associates or for the leadership staff that it affects, but for the entire organization. It is essential
that the entire organization is aware of the impeding change, even if they are not directly affected by
it. By creating a climate of change for the entire organization it aids in producing a climate of
understanding for any delays or frustration caused by the change.
Promoting a climate of change. In order to promote a climate of change the first step is to
communicate the change from the top to all employees. The first step of communication will consist
of an employee advisory coming from leadership at the very genesis of the software being built. The
advisory will consist of high level information that will include the vision and strategy of the change.

The Framers Of The U.s. Constitution
In order to understand the motivation of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution one must review the
event leading up to it. When the war with Great Britain finally came to a close, the Colonialist of
America became weary of what was to come. Many who were well versed in Tomas Hobbes and John
Locke feared, without proper action and if not too long delayed, the that states would find themselves
in a State of Nature. In time, after it became clear that with the abdication of George III the
sovereignty was unclear, the states engaged in an endless war of economic discrimination against
commerce from other states. Property rights for the public and property right for private owners were
in disarray to the point that, in fact, the western inhabitants of North Carolina formed themselves into
the independent state of Frankland. They did so on the ground that they believed themselves to be in a
State of Nature, and so, would declare themselves to be an independent republic that would
thenceforth govern themselves. This lead to a small civil war to which after the state collapsed. North
Eastern New York, on the same ground, seceded from New York and declared themselves Vermont.
Also in limbo was taxation and debt. Debt after the war was grew to a point that some industries and
states were more than three times the annual income of said industries; such was the case of the
Tobacco trade. Taxation was only able to be acquired by state governments and each state had
different laws

Dark Alliance by Gary Stephen Webb
In 1996, Gary Stephen Webb was best known for his three part article series, Dark Alliance. Webb
exposed The Central Intelligence Agency s (C.I.A.) drug trafficking operations. These articles were
first written for the San Jose Mercury News before later being published into a book. Webb discovered
a drug operation between a California drug ring, the C.I.A., and the Nicaraguan Contras. Evidence
showed that the C.I.A. had direct contact with smugglers, knowing that the profits being made from
the drugs were used to purchase equipment for the Nicaraguan Contras. The San Francisco Bay Area
drug ring had tons of cocaine, which they turned into crack cocaine. Crack cocaine was a cheaper
version of the drug that was highly addictive. This more affordable drug was distributed to the Los
Angeles street gangs by drug dealer, Ricky Donnell Ross better known by his nickname, Freeway
Ricky. They then sold the product to people in the black communities. By 1994, Freeway Ricky was
known as the master marketer mainly responsible for flooding the streets of L.A. with cocaine. Today,
Los Angeles is known as the crack capital of the world.
Juan Norwin Meneses Cantarero was the head boss over the Bay Area drug ring. Meneses owned a
home, bars, restaurants, a car lot, and factories. Though he was never imprisoned, the federal
government knew about his drug dealings. In 1996, Meneses was arrested by Nicaraguan police on
cocaine charges in Managua. In the series, Gary Webb focused mainly on

The Adoption Of Cloud Based Accounting Information System
1 Introduction
The aim of this report is to critically analyze the adoption of cloud based accounting information
system (AIS) in business organizations and also its challenges and benefits of cloud based
environment. Cloud accounting (SAASU 20124, para 3) is also called online accounting , which
provides the same service as accounting software and data is securely stored on servers as known as
the cloud. According to Emma Watkins (Demand Media 2014, para 1), cloud accounting is the use of
computer hardware and software applications delivered as a service over the Internet. It allows to store
files and use applications using many different devices and from many different locations in a simple
way . This report will evaluate the cloud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cloud computing is an on demand service which has achieved great demand in corporate data centers.
The cloud facilitate the data center to work as the Internet and computing resources to be promoted
and shared as virtual resources in a secure and extensible manner (X). Most small business owners
shifted to use the new technological trend by adopt cloud based information system (SMH).
According to Wang et al. (2008, p. 3), A computing cloud is a set of network enabled service,
providing scalable, QoS guaranteed , normally personalized inexpensive computing infrastructure on
demand, which could be accessed in a simple and pervasive way .
2.2 Functional aspects of cloud computing
Conceptually, users acquire computing platforms or IT infrastructures from computing Clouds and
then run their applications inside. Therefore, computing Clouds render users with services to access
hardware, software and data resources, thereafter an integrated computing platform as a service, in a
transparent way:
HaaS: Hardware as a Service
Hardware as a Service was coined possibly in 2006. As a result of drastic improvement in hardware
virtualization, users could buy IT hardware, or even a complete data center, as a pay as you go
subscription service. The HaaS is flexible and manageable to fulfill the demand.

it started the year with only about 190, meaning it was looking to more than double that figure in just

2. The author is a young ethnographer researching teenagers (p.193). What difference does our
knowledge of her age and other personal details make to the account?
Ethnographic research implies that researcher is obtaining the data by observing researched people in
their common environment and with common circumstances (Silverman, 2010). It has been
discovered that this style of research requires trustful relationships between researcher and the
researched, especially when the ethnography is made in the closed settings and access to researcher is
granted from the head. In analyzed study permission was acquired exactly in this way, and Russell
described a large number of problems related to establishment of trust and balancing between two
sides: teachers and students. Cassell and Symon (2004) argue that gathering information in case of no
trust in ethnographic research might be difficult. To prove that they provide an example of Westley
(1970) study. In this research the author experienced a large number of obstacles, such as
unwillingness to give an interview during his fieldwork in police organization in USA.
All noted above directly relates to the question, because identity of the researcher is intricately linked
to the problem of trust establishment. The fact, that the author at the time of fieldwork was much
younger than teaching

Analysis And Interpretation Of Blood Evidence Left Behind...
Bloodstain pattern analysis is the examination and interpretation of blood evidence left behind at a
crime scene. It is based on the principles of biology (behavior of blood), physics (cohesion and
capillary action and velocity) and mathematics (geometry, distance, and angle) according to National
Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC) guide. The analyst is tasked with classifying the type of
bloodstain and assisting in reconstructing the events leading up to the act that caused the bloodshed.
This is accomplished by examining the size, shape, distribution and location of the bloodstains. There
are several different types of patterns, and spatter from the bloodstains can be found on multiple
surfaces in many different forms.
My focus is on blood spatter which is a common bloodstain that occurs when a blood source is met
with a certain level of force or impact. Origin and trajectory are crucial, complex components in
painting a picture of what happened. In Richard Safferstein s text (2011), Criminalistics: An
Introduction to Forensic Science, he explains that interpreting bloodstains can yield the following
information:
The direction from which blood originated
The angle at which a blood droplet struck a surface
The location or position of a victim at the time a bloody wound was inflicted
The movement of a bleeding individual at the crime scene
The minimum number of blows hat struck a bleeding victim
The approximate location of an individual

Explain Forward And Forward Integration
Complete forward and backward integration
Thus, in this integration process, it is a merge of forward and backward process for optimum
maximization of supply chain management to meet rapid marketplace changes. It is neither proven if
the complete integration is the best as forward and backward supply chain process plays their different
role in supply chain management. Although, managers should understand that forward integration
helps to respond to changes in demand effectively whereas backward integration gives the
organization a strong control over its quality of raw material supply and also the quality of the finished
product. The initiative of both processes serves different purposes such as to reduce risk, transfer of
vital information and interdependencies on external organization in supply chain. The decision on
which integration model to implement depends on the cost, product type, organizational size, scope

internal, backward, forward or complete integrated model serves at various divisions. As a matter of
fact, it depends on the functional units that have to be integrated and what kind of product and services

Cognitive Model Of Abnormality Essay
Many of which are counteracted by various stressors and risk factors (e.g., injury, involuntary career
termination, performance expectations, and possible overtraining) that may increase the risk of mental
disorders compared to the general population (Wolanin, Gross Hong, 2015). Taken together, stress and
anxiety affect everyone daily, but research has found that many athletes struggle with these conditions
more than the rest of the population (Fullerton, 2010). So, in an attempt to understand the treatment of
psychopathology and abnormal behavior among athletes, it s reasonable to look at the cognitive model
of abnormality, a key factor in changing an athlete s distorted thoughts and perceptions. Cognitive
Model of Abnormality Cognitive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another significant factor that can seriously affect any performance, as we all know, is when specific
situations trigger those automatic thoughts and cause emotional reactions, resulting in survival
reflexes (i.e., fight, flight or freeze). Thus, a critical determinant in athletic performance is the
automatic processing of information that is obtained, stored and retrieved. Having considered this, it s
also reasonable to look at issues that contribute to the impairment of optimal performance. Otherwise
known as the discrepancy between what the performer knows to do and how they are going to do it,
when under an immense amount of pressure. According to Hays Baltzell (2016), performance and the
anticipation of performance increases levels of physiological and cognitive arousal, resulting in
increased levels of anxiety and the over thinking that goes with it. Noting the compelling nature of the
cognitive model, clinical sport psychologists recommend helping athletes to recognize these automatic
thoughts and learn various techniques to manage or change those thoughts into positive self
statements. Therefore, clinical sport psychologists working with athletes, not only seek to enhance an
athlete s mental performance, but also assist athletes with psychological disorders, looking to
overcome their problems by developing new, more functional ways of thinking (Comer, 2015). Beck

The Treatment Of Indigenous Australians
Treatment of Indigenous Australians
Indigenous Australians are the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals of Australia,
plummeted from gatherings that existed in Australia and encompassing islands preceding European
colonization. There is incredible assorted qualities among various Indigenous people group and social
orders in Australia, each with its own particular blend of societies, traditions and dialects. In present
day Australia these gatherings are further separated into nearby communities. At the season of starting
European settlement, more than 250 dialects were talked; it is as of now evaluated that 120 to 145 of
these stay being used, and everything except 13 are thought to be endangered. Aboriginal individuals
today generally communicate in English, with Aboriginal expressions and words being added to make
Australian Aboriginal English. Native individuals basically lived as seeker gatherers, chasing and
scavenging for sustenance from the area. Albeit Aboriginal society was by and large versatile, or semi
itinerant, moving as per the changing sustenance accessibility found crosswise over various regions as
seasons changed, the method of life and material societies fluctuated incredibly from locale to district,
and there were lasting settlements and agriculture in a few ranges.

How Does Tom Robbins Make A Difference In American Literature
Martin Luther King Jr. once expressed that Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...
Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions
and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. Knowing this, some people are willing to sacrifice
everything in order to fulfill their ambition. Consequently, what makes a sacrifice truly worth it? In
layman s terms, a sacrifice is the act of relinquishing an object or action that one desire in order to
obtain something of equal value. Evidently, humankind cannot obtain anything without first giving
something in return; which means that the sacrifice must be of equal value. Although from different

A higher level quote that would fit into a situation such as this would be by Tom Robbins, who is an
American novelist. Robbins once said that similarities bring people together on a common ground,
while diversity is what allows fascination to occur. To be frank, Robbins is attempting to get readers to
perceive that differences is not necessarily a negative thing. The two characters, although from
different pieces of literature have a common goal, which is to be successful, but go about it in a
different manner. In Victor s case, he attempted to be successful by reanimating life. The different
accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature. I had worked hard for nearly
two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself
of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had
finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable
to endure the aspect of the being I had created (Shelley 56). The quote is significant because it depicts
the feelings that Victor underwent as he was creating the creature and how he felt no compassion
towards his creation, but rather utter disgust. From this, we learnt that the time and isolation that
Victor sacrificed in order to create the fiend was of wasted effort. What makes the situation

Two Major Control Theories
Travis Hirschi developed two major control theories which are influential in criminology today
(Lecture). Hirschi first theory was Social Bond Theory which he explained in his paper Causes in
Delinquency, published in 1969 (Lecture). Hirschi criticized his theory and moved the locus of control
from the person s position in society to what internally drove the person not to commit crime (Cullen
Text, Part VI). In 1990, Hirschi discounted Social Bond Theory and teamed up with Michael
Gottfredson in the paper a General Theory of Crime where they explained their new theory, Self
Control Theory (Lecture). Though these theories are inherently different they both contributed greatly

Hirschi stated there were four social bonds that tied the person to conventional ways: attachment,
commitment, involvement and belief (Cullen Text, Part VI). Attachment was the person s emotional
attachment to others (Cullen Text, Part VI). A person may refrain from a criminal act depending on
what he perceives others will think of him after the event. Commitment is the person s investment into
their future (Cullen Text, Part18). If they are invested into their future, they may not jeopardize it by
committing a crime. Involvement is the person s participation in life events and social activities
(Cullen Text, Part18). The person may be too busy to commit a crime. Belief is the person s view of
legitimacy of social rules and laws (Cullen Text, Part18). If that person believes in the rules they are
less likely to break them. If these bonds are weak or broken then a person is more likely going to
commit a crime (Cullen Text, Part18).

How Do The Arts Affect High School Students
Art Programs are Fundamental to Education.
While many people believe that the arts are not a necessity for the school curriculum and that it has no
effect on students academic achievements, it actually plays a big part in it. The arts have a great
influence on students academic results as well as the students overall. Art programs are a necessity to
schools as it helps at risk students as well as regular students. New research has proven that the arts
help at risk students have better academic results as well as help them become more civically engaged
among other things. Independent studies have shown that high school students who are enrolled in art
classes tend to have higher math and verbal SAT scores than the latter students who do not. Other
studies have shown that major art areas that include visual arts, dance, drama, music, and ... Show

There are people who think that the arts have no value as it does not help with child development and
it hinders academic results. This is not true as mentioned earlier, the arts have a great effect on
students academic achievements and it also helps with child development. Math scores increase
depending on the art course being taken by the students. Students who took acting/play production or
music theory courses had the highest math scores and the highest verbal scores as well.(Vaughn,
Kathryn, and Ellen Winner 8) Art courses help child development and adolescent development as
well. Research conducted reveals that art learning experiences alter the attitudes of young people
toward themselves and others and that students involved in theater arts show gains in reading
proficiency as well as self control, motivation, empathy and tolerance for others. (The Arts and
Human Development) The Arts help students with social development and academic

ABSTRACT The IFRS mandatory adoption in European countries is an excellent context from which
to assess the validity of accounting choice theory, which postulates that information asymmetry,
contractual efficiency (agency costs) and managerial opportunism reasons could drive the choice. With
this aim, we test the impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our findings suggest that all the rationales described by accounting choice theory (information
asymmetry, contractual efficiency and managerial opportunism) drive the decision to adopt fair value.
Indeed, regarding contractual efficiency reasons in particular, we find that the larger the size (proxy of
political costs), the less likely fair value is to be chosen, while leverage and consequent lenders
protection seems to be insignificant for the choice.
Furthermore, our results show that market to book ratio (MTBV) (proxy of information asymmetry) is
negatively related to the fair value choice. This finding, that conflicts with existing literature, could be
accounted for in the real estate industry due to the fact that high levels of MTBV in this context reveal
growth opportunities associated with a fair estimation of investment properties and therefore with a
low information asymmetry. Managerial opportunism behaviour, measured by a dummy variable for
earnings smoothing, seems to have an influence on fair value choice.
While all these variables seem to have an influence on the fair value choice, the same variables do not
explain the choice of historical cost with the IFRS1 revaluation option in preference to the cost
maintenance approach.

Analysis Of The Book The Essay
Callum shouldered his sack, eyes focused on the back of the man before him, trying not to think about
the ache in his feet, the soreness of his back, the grime that layered his body. Just keep marching, keep
moving Callum repeated in his head like a mantra.
Callum could see in the distance beyond the trees the faint outlines of green hills. Hills that he last
remembered were bathed in red and flesh. Over a year has passed since the First Battle of Bull Run
and so much as changed since then. With a lack of manpower and volunteers, the Confederacy issued
a draft for all men of age. Of course, Callum could have bought his way out of the draft, if it were not
for his rat bastard of a father. Said war would put some hair on his chest that it would be good for him
and then refused to cover the draft fees.
So here Callum was, trudging alongside several thousand men under General Lee s command. The
Union has been trying to gain control of Virginia since the very inception of the war. After Virginia
joined the Confederacy, it was rewarded with the Confederate capitol in Richmond due to its industry
and factories. His hometown was the only large scale industrial city in the Confederacy. Having the
capitol and the bulk of the army here allowed for easy restocking of supplies. It was a logistically
sound move, but also a dangerous one.
Virginia lies at the border of the Confederacy and the Union, not even a hundred miles south of the
Union s capital in Washington. Losing

The Importance Of Security Best Practices
Security Best Practices
No computer with a connection to the internet is 100 percent safe (Helmke, 2015). System
Administrators have a responsibility to protect individuals and corporations from breaches and loss. A
breach can have massive economic implications and, even worse, long lasting damage to your
reputation. Linux is just as vulnerable as other operating systems and it appears the majority of best
practice methodologies apply across all operating systems.
Security Audits
The first step is to perform a security audit and determine where vulnerabilities may exist. Physical
Placement The system is extremely vulnerable if not installed in a climate controlled secure room.
Only authorized personnel should have access to the room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Software versions Additionally, it is good to hide the machine ID and software versions. This is simply
free information making it easier for the attacker.
Wireless Helmke (2015) also recommends using wired and avoiding wireless if possible.
NMAP Another vulnerability is open ports. Tools such as NMAP scan and determine if any ports are
open. Unexpected open ports are clues that a potential breach has occurred and that a cracker has
opened unauthorized ports.
Intrusion Detection Systems IDS should be installed that contain the capabilities to monitor the
network and send alerts if odd or different behavior is observed.
Protect your system
Update Linux kernel and Software Regular updates are critical to insure the system has the most stable
and reliable load.
Viruses Linux has an advantage over Windows. Helmke (2015) explains,
Linux never puts the current directory in your executable path, so typing ls runs /bin/ls rather than any
program named ls in the current directory.
A nonroot user can infect only the files that user has write access to, which is usually only the files in
the user s home directory. This is one of the most important reasons for never using sudo when you
don t need to.
Linux forces you to manually mark files as executable, so you can t accidentally run a file called
myfile.txt.exe thinking it is just a text file.
By having more than one common web browser and email client, Linux has strength through

Abstract
This paper seeks to describe the management experience for women in Spain, concentrating on the
broad picture, then examining the individual experiences of managers in the workplace. The paper
examines the cultural and sector specific barriers to female managers in Spain. The study examines the
potential opportunities afforded to female managers by MNCs. An ... Show more content on

Because of this approach, the empirical sample of female managers is small, comprising of five
female managers from a total of 60 managers interviewed, but is representative of levels of female
management within the organisations and industries participating.
This research used company visits, over 60 semi structured interviews with selected practising
managers in key companies, and periods of non participatory observation inside companies within
Spain. Managers were selected by interview from a wide variety of Spanish businesses. The aim was
to examine management

in Spain in general, and to try to discern if there were issues common to female managers. The
sample included companies with various forms of governance. With the importance of the state sector
in Spain, and the dominance of multinational companies (MNCs), as well as a significant number of
family owned large and medium sized businesses, it was important to include companies from each
sector by ownership. This included Spanish owned MNCs, Spanish owned national companies,
Spanish owned regional companies, and Foreign owned MNCs. The emphasis was on the
manufacturing industry. This is primarily because these companies are strategically placed within the
business infrastructure. A limitation of the sample drawn from this is that it does not offer a complete
view of female mangers in the retail services for example. In

Mark Coller V. New York Case Brief
Nancy and mark collier got married, but then on April 8, 2003, Nancy wanted to get a divorce from
Mark. Nancy was feeling unsafe and had an order of protection put on Mark for him to stay away
from her workplace. Nancy was working at the hospital on April 24, 2003, during that time mark went
to his neighbor and was telling his neighbor that he was going to kill himself and Nancy because
Nancy had filed divorce. Mark neighbor thought mark was just talking crazy because mark had talked
like that before. That night mark went back to his neighbor and said that tonight is the night and mark
and his neighbor walked back to marks house and mark said again that he was going to kill himself
and Nancy. Marks neighbor went to marks house later they night ... Show more content on

Mark was found outside the only exit Nancy could use, in his pickup truck drunk and asleep. When
the police officer arrived, they had charged mark with an invasion of privacy for violating the terms of
the protective order and public intoxication. Then the state of Indiana charged mark with attempted
murder, a jury trial was held and the jury found Mark guilty. Mark was sentenced to twenty five years
in prison and after completing his time five years of probation. The Indiana court had accepted mark
collier appeal for his attempted murder charge, Mark had said that the evidence was insufficient and
his acts were a preparation for the murder. The acts that mark had done makes the courts believe that
mark was going to go through with the crime. The facts that were presented to the jury would make
them believe that Mark had to take the substantial step for the crime of attempted murder. If Mark was
awake, was going into the hospital, and opened to door, Mark would be guilty of attempted murder.
The Indiana Supreme Court made a decision that mark was not guilty of attempted murder. Mark was
not near Nancy since he was in the back of the parking

  • 2. Hester Prynne Rebellion Quotes Summer Reading Essay Hester Prynne of Nathanial Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion and compassion. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion. Hester Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam, commits the crime of adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne describes her crime in dialogue between Hester s husband, who has just arrived in Boston and is unaware of Hester s circumstances, and a towns member who infers as to what she has done and how much of an uproar it has caused, during her public punishment, in the government forces her to stand on a scaffold for three hours and condemned to wear an A on her chest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through rebellion because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely disobeys the laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief system through the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her wedlock child for the first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and how the town reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her beauty shone out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46). This quote shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime is seen in the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and weakness as she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high, ignoring their judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the mannerisms the Puritan s expected of her. Along with her rebellion, Hester Prynne defies the Puritan belief system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McDonald s currently has 36,900 stores, Burger King has 15,000, and Chick fil A has about 2200. Again, Chick fil A does not have a significant presence outside the US, but the other companies do, which could account for a large portion of the difference. Opening more franchises would create a larger customer base for the company and would maximize profits, changing this weakness to a strength. An opportunity for Chick fil A is the young people and families who are moving to the metropolitan areas around the country (which is where most of the restaurants are) need a family friendly, clean place to eat out. • 4. The Main Features Of Autism Spectrum Disorder Describe the main features of autism spectrum disorder. Evaluate the evidence supporting a biological basis for autism. Autism is a developmental disorder which usually occurs during infancy (Hyman, 2002:217). Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an umbrella term used to refer to many disorders which display symptoms of an autistic style. The spectrum covers all types of symptoms ranging from mild to severe (Hollander, 2003:102). Individuals in the spectrum can range from having severe learning disabilities to being mildly impaired (Nimh.nih.gov, 2014). The linguistic skills can also vary from being mute to having the ability to communicate complex sentences (ibid). The different profiles of the sufferers are diverse (Hyman, 2002:217). However, there are three main areas of which they may have difficulties. These are social reciprocity, an inability to communicate effectively and unusual repetitive or restricted behaviour (Davey, 2014:586) this is known as the triad of impairments (Dodd, 2005:2). This essay will explain the triad of impairments related to ASD to describe the main features of the disorder. In addition, it will evaluate the biological evidence by investigating the research for genetic factors and brain abnormalities, both of which support a biological basis for ASD (Davey, 2014:588). The first main area that describes the features of ASD is impairments of reciprocal social interaction (Davey, 2014:585). This is one of the most dominant features of ASD. ... • 6. The Debate Of Economics Between Bentham And Aristotle A Debate of Economics Between Bentham and Aristotle With all the many issues facing our country today it is difficult to pin down exactly what the biggest issue is, so instead of picking the biggest issue I decided to pick the issue that has affected people the most in this country as well as other countries which would be economics. When it comes to economics the biggest issue facing our country is that we no longer produce what we need to keep up with our economic system, so what if the philosophers that created the ideas and basic principles so long ago were around now, and furthermore, what if they were running for the two thousand sixteen presidential election? In the following I will present a debate between the famous philosophers Bentham and Aristotle in regards to the current economic system. Moderator: First question of the debate: How would you, as US president restore the production of goods to improve our economic system? Aristotle s Response As someone who believes in economic equality I believe that economic scarcity is an inevitable aspect of human nature that being said, the action we must take as a country to improve is looking at economic actions as a opportunity to use goods only as an essential for life. To conclude my answer to this question I believe that as long as goods and services are used to have helpful uses to people it is essential to our economy because if we are putting money into goods that are useless it s a waste of money, and ... Essay on Necessity of Pre-nuptial Agreements within Australia Necessity of Pre nuptial Agreements within Australia Legislation recognising pre nuptial agreements has been well overdue and this recognition will significantly improve the social and economic impact of divorce. Many people find it difficult to appreciate the diversity of the African American women. So instead of trying to do this, they create identities based on negative stereotypes. She also comes in many different skin tones, but still not light skin. Mabel Madea Simmons is a fictional character created and played by Tyler Perry himself. Despite some of the negative traits that she does possess, Madea does exhibit the traits of the Mammy such as: being a nurturer, a caregiver, and a protector, while also maintaining the basic appearance of a Mammy. Historically, Mammy was shown to have extreme loyalty to the white family that she cared for and showed devotion towards them while not showing a lot of attention to her own family, if she even had one at all. • 12. The Agricultural Equipment Industry And Culture On A... The agricultural equipment industry is one that is very important to the global market because it impacts both the United State s and Brazil s economies greatly. The balance of trade between the US and Brazil relies on the success of agricultural equipment as a whole. This paper will analyze the history of agricultural equipment and how machinery has impacted the farming industry and culture on a global scale, and continues to do so. History In order to gain an understanding of the agricultural equipment industry, we have to acknowledge the history in this area. In the 1920 s, most farmers practiced farming with horses pulling plows attached to them, which prepped the land for planting crops. Machines that picked crops had not been invented by the 1920 s, so farmers had to harvest their crops by hand. John Froelich invented of the first internal combustion traction motor, or tractor and had sold 20 of his tractors by 1914 through partnering with 8 investors from the Waterloo Gasoline Traction Engine Company. Eventually, John Deere purchased the first tractor company to ever exist in 1918, and paid $2,350,000 for it. Needless to say, John Deere has seen a large return on their investment. Although manufacturers such as John Deere in the United States had began to lead the way in building and assembling mechanized tractors, this luxury was not widely utilized by farmers around the country because tractors were both very expensive and limited. In this book, the mature Herriot tells about his youthful self, when he graduated from veterinary school and began working in rural veterinary practice. The narrator like the reader is able to laugh at his naïveté of Herriot, as well as at the people who surround him, including Siegfried Farnon, and his brother, Tristan Farnon. This memoir of James Herriot flashes the simple and laid back lives of the countryside folks. It exhibits their struggles, cultures, etiquette, hardships and relationships. The stories that are depicted in this book is loosely based on Herriot s life as a young veterinarian in the rough English countryside pre WWII. There he encounters many different people and animals from dogs and cats to livestock. From the first day of Herriot s arrival at Skeldale House, being greeted by a troop of enthusiastic, leaping, barking dogs, to the week of tuberculin testing that brings the book to a close, we share the moments of joy, laughter, tears, nerves, confidence, mix ups, and triumphs involved in his Yorkshire veterinary practice of the 1930s. We meet the eccentric Siegfried Farnon and the carefree Tristan Farnon and many interesting people around the Dales, not to mention those marvellous animals who shall live on just like the human characters. • 20. The Framers Of The U.s. Constitution In order to understand the motivation of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution one must review the event leading up to it. When the war with Great Britain finally came to a close, the Colonialist of America became weary of what was to come. Many who were well versed in Tomas Hobbes and John Locke feared, without proper action and if not too long delayed, the that states would find themselves in a State of Nature. In time, after it became clear that with the abdication of George III the sovereignty was unclear, the states engaged in an endless war of economic discrimination against commerce from other states. Property rights for the public and property right for private owners were in disarray to the point that, in fact, the western inhabitants of North Carolina formed themselves into the independent state of Frankland. They did so on the ground that they believed themselves to be in a State of Nature, and so, would declare themselves to be an independent republic that would thenceforth govern themselves. This lead to a small civil war to which after the state collapsed. North Eastern New York, on the same ground, seceded from New York and declared themselves Vermont. Also in limbo was taxation and debt. • 22. Dark Alliance by Gary Stephen Webb In 1996, Gary Stephen Webb was best known for his three part article series, Dark Alliance. Webb exposed The Central Intelligence Agency s (C.I.A.) drug trafficking operations. These articles were first written for the San Jose Mercury News before later being published into a book. Webb discovered a drug operation between a California drug ring, the C.I.A., and the Nicaraguan Contras. Evidence showed that the C.I.A. had direct contact with smugglers, knowing that the profits being made from the drugs were used to purchase equipment for the Nicaraguan Contras. The San Francisco Bay Area drug ring had tons of cocaine, which they turned into crack cocaine. Crack cocaine was a cheaper version of the drug that was highly addictive. This more affordable drug was distributed to the Los Angeles street gangs by drug dealer, Ricky Donnell Ross better known by his nickname, Freeway Ricky. They then sold the product to people in the black communities. By 1994, Freeway Ricky was known as the master marketer mainly responsible for flooding the streets of L.A. with cocaine. Today, Los Angeles is known as the crack capital of the world. Juan Norwin Meneses Cantarero was the head boss over the Bay Area drug ring. Meneses owned a home, bars, restaurants, a car lot, and factories. Though he was never imprisoned, the federal government knew about his drug dealings. Taken together, stress and anxiety affect everyone daily, but research has found that many athletes struggle with these conditions more than the rest of the population (Fullerton, 2010). Another significant factor that can seriously affect any performance, as we all know, is when specific situations trigger those automatic thoughts and cause emotional reactions, resulting in survival reflexes (i.e., fight, flight or freeze). Thus, a critical determinant in athletic performance is the automatic processing of information that is obtained, stored and retrieved. Having considered this, it s also reasonable to look at issues that contribute to the impairment of optimal performance. Attachment was the person s emotional attachment to others (Cullen Text, Part VI). A person may refrain from a criminal act depending on what he perceives others will think of him after the event. Commitment is the person s investment into their future (Cullen Text, Part18). If they are invested into their future, they may not jeopardize it by committing a crime. Involvement is the person s participation in life events and social activities (Cullen Text, Part18). The person may be too busy to commit a crime. Belief is the person s view of legitimacy of social rules and laws (Cullen Text, Part18). If that person believes in the rules they are less likely to break them. If these bonds are weak or broken then a person is more likely going to commit a crime (Cullen Text, Part18). Hirschi criticized his first theory and saw there were some inherent errors which he readdressed in is second theory, Self Control Theory (Lecture). Hirschi s major problem was he believed the locus of control was not societies bonds to the individual but the internal mechanism of self control (Cullen Text, Part VI). With this aim, we test the impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our findings suggest that all the rationales described by accounting choice theory (information asymmetry, contractual efficiency and managerial opportunism) drive the decision to adopt fair value. Indeed, regarding contractual efficiency reasons in particular, we find that the larger the size (proxy of political costs), the less likely fair value is to be chosen, while leverage and consequent lenders protection seems to be insignificant for the choice. Furthermore, our results show that market to book ratio (MTBV) (proxy of information asymmetry) is negatively related to the fair value choice. This finding, that conflicts with existing literature, could be accounted for in the real estate industry due to the fact that high levels of MTBV in this context reveal growth opportunities associated with a fair estimation of investment properties and therefore with a low information asymmetry. Managerial opportunism behaviour, measured by a dummy variable for earnings smoothing, seems to have an influence on fair value choice. While all these variables seem to have an influence on the fair value choice, the same variables do not explain the choice of historical cost with the IFRS1 revaluation option in preference to the cost maintenance approach. • 45. Analysis Of The Book The Essay Callum shouldered his sack, eyes focused on the back of the man before him, trying not to think about the ache in his feet, the soreness of his back, the grime that layered his body. Just keep marching, keep moving Callum repeated in his head like a mantra. Callum could see in the distance beyond the trees the faint outlines of green hills. Hills that he last remembered were bathed in red and flesh. Over a year has passed since the First Battle of Bull Run and so much as changed since then. With a lack of manpower and volunteers, the Confederacy issued a draft for all men of age. Of course, Callum could have bought his way out of the draft, if it were not for his rat bastard of a father. Said war would put some hair on his chest that it would be good for him and then refused to cover the draft fees. So here Callum was, trudging alongside several thousand men under General Lee s command. The Union has been trying to gain control of Virginia since the very inception of the war. After Virginia joined the Confederacy, it was rewarded with the Confederate capitol in Richmond due to its industry and factories. His hometown was the only large scale industrial city in the Confederacy. Having the capitol and the bulk of the army here allowed for easy restocking of supplies. It was a logistically sound move, but also a dangerous one. Virginia lies at the border of the Confederacy and the Union, not even a hundred miles south of the Union s capital in Washington. • 46. The Importance Of Security Best Practices Security Best Practices No computer with a connection to the internet is 100 percent safe (Helmke, 2015). System Administrators have a responsibility to protect individuals and corporations from breaches and loss. A breach can have massive economic implications and, even worse, long lasting damage to your reputation. Linux is just as vulnerable as other operating systems and it appears the majority of best practice methodologies apply across all operating systems. Security Audits The first step is to perform a security audit and determine where vulnerabilities may exist. Physical Placement The system is extremely vulnerable if not installed in a climate controlled secure room. Only authorized personnel should have access to the room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Software versions Additionally, it is good to hide the machine ID and software versions. This is simply free information making it easier for the attacker. Wireless Helmke (2015) also recommends using wired and avoiding wireless if possible. NMAP Another vulnerability is open ports. Tools such as NMAP scan and determine if any ports are open. Unexpected open ports are clues that a potential breach has occurred and that a cracker has opened unauthorized ports. Intrusion Detection Systems IDS should be installed that contain the capabilities to monitor the network and send alerts if odd or different behavior is observed. Protect your system Update Linux kernel and Software Regular updates are critical to insure the system has the most stable and reliable load. Viruses Linux has an advantage over Windows. Helmke (2015) explains, Linux never puts the current directory in your executable path, so typing ls runs /bin/ls rather than any program named ls in the current directory. A nonroot user can infect only the files that user has write access to, which is usually only the files in the user s home directory. This is one of the most important reasons for never using sudo when you don t need to. Linux forces you to manually mark files as executable, so you can t accidentally run a file called myfile.txt.exe thinking it is just a text file. By having more than one common web browser and email client, Linux has strength through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The aim was to examine management 2 in Spain in general, and to try to discern if there were issues common to female managers. The sample included companies with various forms of governance. With the importance of the state sector in Spain, and the dominance of multinational companies (MNCs), as well as a significant number of family owned large and medium sized businesses, it was important to include companies from each sector by ownership. This included Spanish owned MNCs, Spanish owned national companies, Spanish owned regional companies, and Foreign owned MNCs. The emphasis was on the manufacturing industry. This is primarily because these companies are strategically placed within the business infrastructure.
