Outline Of Argumentative Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Outline of Argumentative Essay" can prove to be quite
challenging, requiring a careful balance of analytical skills, critical thinking, and effective
communication. Crafting a well-structured outline demands a deep understanding of the chosen
subject matter, as well as the ability to present a logical sequence of arguments.
One of the challenges lies in the need to establish a clear and concise roadmap for the essay.
Developing a coherent outline involves identifying key points, organizing them logically, and
ensuring a smooth flow from one idea to the next. This requires a keen sense of structure and a
strategic approach to presenting arguments.
Furthermore, the process of constructing a persuasive argument demands thorough research to
gather relevant evidence and support for each point. Selecting credible sources, analyzing data,
and synthesizing information require a high level of attention to detail and critical evaluation.
Balancing the tone of the essay is another difficulty. An argumentative essay requires a
persuasive and assertive voice, but it's crucial to avoid crossing the line into aggression. Striking
the right balance between passion and reason can be a delicate task.

outline. This not only demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the topic but also
strengthens the overall persuasiveness of the essay.

Demonism In The Metamorphosis
Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis is a fantastical tale of an everyday business man
and his life after morphing into an enormous insect. Over the course of the story,
Gregor s family begins to demonize him as the threat they believe him to be. Gregor
s acceptance of this new existence only aids in the degradation of his humanity, his
lack of communitive skills only further this development, a stark contrast to his
previous salesman persona. Could he not have written out his thoughts, shifting items
into words, no matter how arbitrarily so? Perhaps, his family then would have
pursued a cure, or even a more harmonious living arrangement. However, this story
is less about the insect and more about the individual and how any form of excessive
difference, be it political, moral, and/or physical, causes us as humans to attack as a
natural reaction.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon discovery of his newly donned insectoid form Gregor quickly shoves it off to
instead focus on continuing his usual work schedule no matter the difficultly. When
the office manager pays him a visit and is appalled by Gregor s ghastly new form
Gregor begs to simply continue work though it may be less productive. This
interaction is a representation of the relationship between the Jewish people and the
Austro Hungarian Empire. Gregor, the traveling salesman, embodies the Jew of
whom wandered for many years after fleeing the Roman Empire. Starting after an
annexing of Polish lands, where people of Jewish descent had settled, many Jewish
people migrated into Austro Hungary between 1750 and 1850 and later again into the
bigger cities between 1880 and 1914. During this time the Habsburgs began to pass
legislation protecting the Jews from the strong anti Semitic views held by many of
the empires citizens, specifically those of the Catholic faith who make up a majority
of the population, this caused many Jews to feel indebted to their
Genie Alternate Ending
The Feast of Giving has always been time of warmth and happiness for Genie. The
red and golden leaves, the first nip of chill in the breeze, the eternal smell of
cinnamon, she loved it all. But most of all, she loved the time she spent with her
father. As far as she was concerned, those days could last forever. Nevertheless, Genie
would soon find that this holiday was particularly memorable.
What do you mean he has Stonelock? Only old Gargoyles get that! Genie blurt out
at the news. She could hardly believe her ears at first. Sure her father had been

How s that?
You have to start all over.
Anger surged through Genie s heart at her mother s monotone words. She swore she
turned a dark purple at the very thought. Faster than she could contain herself the
words bubbled to the surface and spilled out of her mouth. I am following the
instructions! So I do not need your help. She spun around, waving the whisk. Only
too late did she realize she had gotten some of the orange pulp on her mother s face.
The women looked startled well as far as Genie could tell, which was hard for even

surprise, it got flung right back at her.
Before either of them knew it, they were scooping up large handfuls of pie filling to
toss at each other. When they ran out of the filling, they moved onto the cranberry
sauce, the stuffing, even the gravy! The whole kitchen became a battle scene of
flying edible projectiles. All Genie s hard work came undone.

IV. Question 2 Compare and contrast Milton s Raphael with Pope s Ariel in as
many respects as you can. John Milton and Alexander Pope both write of
supporting characters that are sent to protect the main character in their stories.
Both Ariel and Raphael have many similar qualities that make them a character
that is used to bring warning to the protagonist and to foreshadow to readers what
the outcome of the story will be. Ariel is a sylph, or a magical being that was a
coquette in his life before. Although this is distinctly different than Raphael s
identity as one of God s angels, they share several qualities. Both are described as
being very friendly and gentle. Ariel warns Belinda through a dream in attempt to
protect her from the stealing of a lock of her hair. Raphael is sent to Eden to
become friends with Adam and to warn him of the sin that is lying in wait for
them. Both of these guardians are seeking protection for the human and desire for
them to be kept from evil. They also try to relate to the humans. Ariel understands
Belinda s vanity and pride in her appearance because he once was a coquette as
well. He even assists in her thorough morning routine. Raphael is also able to relate
to Adam through the discussion of love. Adam asks him about angel s love lives
and Raphael is able to understand Adam s struggle to not idolize his love for Eve.
Angels seem to have many qualities that are similar to Adam and Eve s, which
makes it very easy for Raphael to
NASA Budget Cuts
In October 4, 1957 the Soviet Union launched the first ever man made satellite. It
was named Sputnik 1; it weighed 183 pounds and orbited earth in 98 hours. In fear or
Russian having air superiority, President Eisenhower founded the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in July of 1958. In response to the
Soviet Union.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is one of the programs
that the government has decided it cannot continue to finance at its current rates, and
the money being put into NASA has been cut back. This is definitely not a smart
place to make spending cuts and, at least for the near future, this trend of lessened
government support needs to be reversed. By using budget cuts as a possible solution

They claim they need every penny they can get in these rough times. The economy
is doing poorly, and government money is better spent elsewhere, and apparently
they feel that government money would be better spent outside of programs like
NASA. However, there are many sources that directly counter this opinion,
claiming that NASA is an investment to stimulate the economy, and not just money
being shot into space . The cost of NASA, as is true of almost any government
agency, is worth it, because it can benefit the economy directly through the
purchase of goods and creation of jobs, and indirectly by inspiring people in
industries that spawn from invented technologies or materials. Many companies
have gone on to be very successful private businesses after working with materials
invented by NASA. The Tempur Pedic mattress company got its start when NASA
scientists wanted to provide comfortable seating for pilots that needed to remain in
one position for a long time. There are many cases like these in which niches have

The International Criminal Court, also commonly known by its acronym ICC, is
governed by the Rome Statute, which provides the legal basis for a permanent
ICC. This court is independently responsible for trying individual s accused of what
they consider to be the gravest crimes to international concern. It considers four
types of crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, crimes of aggression and war
crimes. Although anyone can bring a case to the ICC, this court acts as a final resort

The Pre Trial Division resolves any and all issues that arise before the trial

carries a fair and equal investigation and to guarantee not only the rights of persons
suspected of a crime but victims and witnesses as well. This division is also in
charge of deciding whether to issue an arrest or summons. The Trial Division
determines whether the party is innocent or guilty and determines if the person
convicted will serve a prison sentence or if there are any reparations that need to be

Point Guard Vs Shooting Guard Essay
I m comparing and contrasting two basketball positions, point guard and shooting
guard. These two positions are alike and different in many ways. One way I m
focusing on is, what are their responsibilities? The next thing that I m focusing on is,
do these two players work together? The last thing that I m focusing on is how tall
do you have to be for these two positions?
Some people may think that point and shooting guards do the same thing. Most of the
things they do are similar, but there are some differences. One similarity is that, they
both have to control the ball while getting the players to understand the plays. In
contrast, one thing that the point guard does that the shooting guard doesn t is bring
the ball down the court. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also have to work with the post. On the other hand, shooting guard kind of
has to switch gears because they have to be near the ball, but at the same time be
somewhere that they can shoot. They both have to help so that the ball can get near
the basket and so that someone can put it up. While doing this, the point has to have
nice slick passes to get the ball around. When help is being needed they both have to
make sure they re there because their teammates are going to pass it to one of them.
It is exciting but it takes skill for these two positions.
There are really tall people that play basketball, but that is not an requirement. You
don t have to really have height to play these two positions. In comparison, the point
and shooting guards are usually the shortest ones on the team. People also think that
the point guard Is the shortest one on the team. Good news is they don t have to be!
On the other hand, shooting guard is the shortest one on the team. The post are the
taller ones that s why they are there to shoot.
What I learned from researching these two positions are that they can be really fun
to be on a basketball team. I also learned that basketball is not easy and it is a
physical sport. Basketball is one of the well known sports and people play it all
throughout the country. These similarities and differences has helped me understand
what some positions really
The 1918 Spanish Influenza Epidemic
Influenza over the years has mutated so many different times that it is hard for
scientists to keep up with new and updated versions of vaccines to keep people
protected. The Flu for some people can cause major complications such as
pneumonia and bronchitis because the Flu attacks the respiratory area, but most
people who get the Flu will recover in a few days or up to a few weeks. The 1918
Spanish Flu was the worst epidemic that ever hit the world and the contributing
factors of the millions of death were that there was no such thing as vaccines or
antibiotics to fight off infections. The side effects were so severe that doctors
misdiagnosed Influenzaas a different infectious disease, and this specific Flu killed
more people than the plague.
Physiological Biases That Make Investors Become Irrational
Every single investment requires decision making. The result of decision making
without certain planning might not end well. One cannot simply make a decision by
relying on his/her personal resources as the decision may give an impact to the
investments. It is difficult to make decision which is related to the field of
investments. Investors have to consider their risks, market condition, rate of return,
and others in making their investment portfolio. However, there are many possible
physiological biases that make investors become irrational thus making bad decisions
for the investment.
Illusion of Money
This bias refers to investors making decisions based upon nominal terms and not real
terms. It means that the confusion between the ... Show more content on

Loss aversion
Loss aversion is most of the people fear of losing money than enjoy about
potentially making money. For example, a stock may be down significantly from its
purchase price, but investors holding back and hope that it will recover. Investors
tend to react to immediate losses in stock funds by taking out the money from the
funds, and thinking that reinvest when the equity market gets better. This decision
will lead to the result buying high and selling low and lead to lower returns and
higher risk. The solution for this is investors should focus on their goals and the
overall returns in the portfolio than on the losses in an individual accounts, besides
make sure the investment decisions are parallel with long term goals.
Representative
Some of investors might find representativeness to assist them in making judgments
of investing because of the investors are being unsure of something about the
portfolio (Tversky and Kahneman, 1974). Brahmana, Chee and Ahmad (2012)
studied that investors insist to seek representative to make judgment regarding the
probability between the samples drawn from a population. Investors tend to make
decision based on their previous experiences (Jahanzeb, Muneer and Rehman, 2012).
Besides that, they intend to make a mental shortcut which allows them to make
decisions quickly (Cherry, 2013). This may lead to
Jfk Inaugural Address Speech Analysis
On a day that was filled with sparkling cold snow January 20th, 1961 In Washington
D.C President John F. Kennedy delvers his will know inaugural address speech, to
the citizens of both the world and America at the end of a close and fierce ballot
Kennedy persuaded, captivated the people and he was very successful. Using Pathos,
Logos, Ethos and some subtle techniques he effectively converted millions of people
in the USA .by touching their hearts and motivating their minds.
JFK heavily uses pathos, repetition, and changing sentence structures to deliver an
effective speech. John F. Kennedytouches many American hearts in his speech. In
the second paragraph he says he has sworn before you and Almighty God (p1). The
mentioning of God so early in his speech sets the tone for the rest of his speech. He
ends the speech by mentioning God again, Gods work most truly be our own (p3).
Showing America that he is a deeply religious man. Throughout his speech JFK uses
thought provoking words such as freedom, success, and liberty, words that have
become synonymous with the American dream. The constant uses of these words
invoke a feeling of patriotism in most Americans.
JFK uses repetition to demonstrate his points throughout his speech. He constantly
reminds the American people that they are a united and strong country that can make
it through anything. He also mentions that America can solve problems with their
enemies using diplomacy several times. He begins four paragraphs in a row with the
same words, Let both sides , to illustrate that he is willing to work things out with
countries America is having problems with. The use of repetition helps Kennedy to
convey his message to his audience. Long, powerful sentences occasionally to keep
the formality of the speech and to convey important messages to his audience. The
interchanging between the simple, short sentences and the long, eloquent sentences
keeps the audience listening and wondering what he is going to say next. John F.
Kennedy effective uses rhetorical devices to successfully convey his ambitions and
hopes for America. His use of pathos, repetition, and variation of sentences helps him
to achieve this goal. John F. Kennedy s speech was very memorable

the effectiveness of these drugs varies between patients (3). According to the
Alzheimer s Association there are several promising new drug therapies in the
development stages that may be more effective in stopping the disease progression
and ultimately curing Alzheimer s patients. Two drugs, in particular, in the research
stage, show exciting potential. The first, Solanezumab, is designed to lower the
levels of beta amyloid in the brainthereby stopping the damaging plaques from
adhering to brain tissue. The second, CSP 1103, is a microglial modulator that
targets inflammation in the brain and also works to prevent beta amyloid from being
deposited on brain tissue (3).
Other notable areas of research include: Researchers are working to stop tau proteins
in the brain from becoming impaired (3). Tau protein, which normally stabilizes the
nerve cell, becomes damaged and tangled and ultimately destroys the neuron in
Alzheimer s disease. Additionally, studies are underway regarding the use of
intranasal insulin therapy as a possible treatment (3). Research has been limited by
the fact that living brain tissue of Alzheimer s patients cannot be removed for study.
Within the past few years though, stem cell scientists have successfully converted
living cells from AD patients into the types of neurons that are affected by Alzheimer
s disease (induced pluripotent stem cells). This is significant
Caravaggio In The Calling Of St. Matthew
Caravaggio was born as Michelangelo Merisi in Italy around 1571. He was left
alone at age 11 and apprenticed with an artist in Milan. He moved to Rome, where
his effort became prevalent for the tenebrism method he used, which used shadow to
highlight brighter areas. His profession, however, was short lived. Caravaggio
murdered a man during a brawl and fled Rome. He died not long after, on July 18,
1610. Even though Caravaggio was rejected after his death, he finally came to be
recognized as one of the founding fathers of current painting. The Calling of St.
Matthew was painted from 1597 to 1601 by Michelangelo Merisi (Caravaggio)
through oil on canvas (Biography.com Editors).
Additionally, Caravaggio transports this canvas to life with bright colors; bold
contrasts of reds, golds and greens and many surfaces of velvets and soft fur. He also
contrasts gestures and expressions and used the contrast principle to differentiate the
bright from the dark, which creates interest in the characters portrayed. He intends to
tell us that the atmospheric perspective used in this painting is to create depth, like
the window behind the individuals. Additionally, the painting is mostly organic
forms, but the window can be classified as an organic form. This painting, along
with two others of St. Matthew by Caravaggio, was specially made for the Contarelli
chapel situated in San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome (Biography.com Editors).
Saint Matthew was one of the twelve apostles and he was a
Supply Side Economic Policy

take in the economic field. It covers the systems for setting levels of taxation,
government budgets, the money supply and interest rates as well as the labor
market, national ownership, and many other areas of government interventions into
the economy. Economic policy supports the supports the Secretary of the Treasury

growth of the economy. Supply side economic means that economic growth can be
most effectively created by investing in capital and by lowering barriers on the
production of goods and services. Supply side economic argues wither or not it

Monetary policy has become more common now then how it used to be. The Federal
Reserve has what is commonly referred to as a dual mandate , to achieve maximum
employment, in practice, around 5% unemployment, and stable prices 2 3% inflation.
In this role, it lends to eligible banks at the so called discount rate, which in turn
influences the Federal funds rate (the rate at which banks lend to each other) and
interest rates on everything from savings accounts to student loans, mortgages and
corporate bonds In conclusion, Economic policies are the solutions that
governments bring to the macroeconomic problem. Yet good policies are hard to
find. A bad policy may be worse than nothing at all. Supply side economic have
been long recognized the importance of an economy s productive capacity, it s stock

when Leo Hirschfield began making and selling individually wrapped, chocolate

Although the company did show an increased gross profit of $8,255,000 with
$6,358,000 less Net Sales in 2013 versus 2012, that increase is due to the reduction
in product Cost of Goods Sold by $14,613,000. Since increases in product price will
negatively affect sales, one of management s primary goals is to keep prices stable.
This objective is achieved through implementation of cost cutting programs,
investing in more efficient equipment, and automation of more steps in the
production process. Seasonality has a major impact on Tootsie Roll Industries in
terms of sales volume. Its most profitable seasons are the summer movie season,
followed by the holiday season. Conversely, the company is least profitable outside
these periods. Tootsie Roll s products are sold at many movie theaters throughout
North America. During the summer, when box office sales are the highest
historically, Tootsie Roll s sales enjoy an added boost (12). Increased profit during the
holiday season is driven by strong sales of specially packaged items designed for

Math Observation
In the beginning of my observations the students in the classroom had been
practicing their addition and subtraction in a one digit numbers. However, as the
year went on my cooperating teacher started to get her students to be solving two
digit addition and subtractions problems. Before she started with two digit she
wanted to be certain that her students felt confident along with concrete knowledge
and examples in their one digit equations because if not, they would fall apart for
two digit equations. My teacher had opened with two digit addition, by developing
knowledge on base ten blocks for approximately two weeks, then progressed her
students to the standard algorithm. My classroom is set up for their numeracy portion

My student at the beginning of two digit addition struggled with being organized
in his base ten block drawings and would get the answer wrong because he would
circle 11 ones instead of 10. When he got the opportunity to work with the actual
base ten blocks he had a strong concept of regrouping. Before the lesson my
cooperating teacher taught them how to do the standard algorithm, which my case
study student took to excellent. During the process of the standard algorithm I asked
him to walk me through what he was doing and the process. He explained that he
carried the one over because it was making a new ten and then counted twenty plus
thirty plus ten instead of 1 plus two plus three, which I felt like the was
understanding the place value. I thought during the lesson if my student was
advancing ways to challenge him on this assignment would be to have him add three
two digit numbers or have him add one two digit and one three digit number. Then if
I felt like my student was starting to struggle I could have his partner help him solve
the process, bring out the base ten blocks, or have him just add one two digit and one
digit numbers until he got the concept
A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size
Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height
is correlational. I believe it is, based on my personal experiences. Shoe size
generally is proportional to height. It s common sense that shorter people have
shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a clearer relationship
between shoe sizeand height when girls and boys are measured separately. The shoe
size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is
measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet.
Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a
correlation between height and shoe size.
Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High
School. They were from ages 16 18 years old. These students were picked based on
convenience. This survey might be somewhat biased because some students did not
want to take it because they did not know their information. The survey was
anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did the standard
deviation, scatter plot graphs, and correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the
diffusion of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It s
used when assessing data. To find the standard deviation, it s necessary to first find
the mean. Now we find how far each value is from the mean (the deviation). Then,
square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a scatter plot graph
Diagnosis Of An Informal Caregiver
During the stages Alzheimer s in which the resident is in need of care, but that care
is not too complex, it is most common to turn to an informal caregiver. According to
the 2016 Alzheimer s Disease Facts and Figures (2016), In 2015, caregivers of
people with Alzheimer s and other dementias provided an estimated 18.1 billion
hours of informal (that is, unpaid) assistance, a contribution to the nation valued at
$221.3 billion (p. 32). Informal caregivers are mainly daughters and spouses of the
residents. Females make up the majority of familymember caretakers, but it is
becoming more common for men to take on this role (Brodaty Donkin, 2009).
Roughly a third of the caretakers in the United States are over the age of sixty five
and the majority are married or are in long term relationships. It has also been found
that around 23% of caretakers for residents with dementia also have their own
children under age eighteen (Alzheimer s Association, 2016). This can increase the
level of stress that the caregiverfaces, as he or she is being stretched in different
directions.
Informal caregivers take on the role of caring for the resident for a number of
reasons. One of which includes the fact that they believe that they owe a debt of
gratitude to their loved ones. Other reasons include a feeling that it is what they
should do regardless of whether or not they want to or because they believe that it
will provide them with a feeling of fulfillment. Those who choose to take on
What Is The Scale Of Nature In Paradise Lost
Carly Merryman ENGL 328 Stoll 3 October 2014 Paradise Lost: Books V VI
Milton s scale of nature, while appearing linear, allows the creatures within in it to
ascend to God by steps, (V.512). This creates a dynamic scale that would enable a
particular being the ability to move up and down the scale based on its behaviors,
and align itself closer to God. However, an animal or a human can only climb so
far. No matter how virtuous an animal was it could never surpass a human because
it is lacking the spiritual essence that God awarded to man. Similarly, a human,
while living, could never attain the same closeness to God as an angel. So while
this allows for some degree of mobility, each sect of the scale is confined within the
parameters that God set forth. If the creation was one first matter all as Raphael
says to Adam then that would mean that all matter came from God. Not only does
this reconcile science and religious beliefs because as Newton s First Law says,
Matter can neither be created nor destroyed, but it also asserts that all matter begins
as being inherently good. This explanation disqualifies ex nihlo because as science
says there can be no absolute nothing. Milton s attempts to resolve the religion versus
science issues are made stronger by his references to Galileo and astronomy. But
Milton s version of the creation tackles the problem of absolute nothingness. If there
were absolute nothingness before matter, then that nothingness would have had to
Percy Jackson Archetypes
In the movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Lightning Thief the plot is
very similar to the story Danus, Perseus and the Gorgons with similar character
types of the perfect hero and prodigy and themes of brains over brawn and

How Did The War Of Roses Affect England
In England, the throne was affected for many years due to The Wars of Roses,
which led to a changed look on the face of the country. The Wars of Roses was a

College Dropout Monologue
Hi Francine, I ve been thinking about you with the college drop off coming up. I m
sure you re already set but wanted to let you know of a few things I did for my
girls when we dropped them off. I m not sure if Addie is taking her car to college
or not but my girls did and I got a bunch of little small tiny envelopes and put
emergency money in them. Some I wrote: for emergency gas money, emergency I m
starving money, and emergency Uber money/I should not be driving. I put these
envelopes throughout their car like in the glove department, sunglass holder
department, middle console, etc. I also wrote them out a card and attach this little
Winnie the Pooh saying that I really like. It was just easier for me to write out my
thoughts and feelings
The Impact Of Aetna On Health Care
Aetna:
Aetna is a leading health care benefits firm in the United States covering about 28
million individuals under its insurance plans. The company has divested into many
different sectors such as medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life, long
term care and disability plans, and medical management capabilities. [5]
Aetna providers services under three broad sections health care, group insurance and
large case pension. The health care division includes health and dental plans which
are offered on risk and employer funded basis. Its group insurance offers life,
disability, and long term care insurance products, and its large case pension segment
manages many retirement products, including pension and annuity products designed
for defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Aetna relies on employer groups,
individuals, college students, part time and hourly workers and more. [5]
Aetna, based out of Hartford, Connecticut, was founded in 1982 as United States
Health Care Systems. [5]
Porter s Five Forces:
Porter s Five Forces was developed in 1979 by Michael Porter as a framework to
assess and evaluate the competitive position of a company in an industry. It is based
on the theory that there are five forces which identify the attractiveness and
competitive strength of an industry. It is helpful to gain an understanding of a firm s
current positon and the position that the firm may look to capture in the future.
Porter s five forces are also used to
Horse Vs Cow
A cow and a horse are two uniquely different animals; although, they are alike in
many ways as well. These two animals are larger in size and share many things.
They split up in differentiations. A cow and a horse are mainly alike by their use
of being farm animals; there are many more reasons than just that, and there are
many things that make them not so alike. Cows are either raised to be eaten or at
least used for a food production, as in meats or milk. Cows can be used as a fun
ride, as in bull riding. A very neat thing about a cow is their stomach, they have
four different compartments in their stomach for the use of food digestion. Cows
are usually never alone, they are in a herd. Have you ever been going down a country
road and seen only one cow in a field? No,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Horses are meant to be rode, they are used for shows and bronc riding as is similar
to bull riding for a cow. Horses are taught many things when it comes to getting on
them and going; cows are different if a human is put on a cow is for the soul
purpose for that person to be thrown off. A horse has a single valve stomach as a
human would. Horses are considered herd animals but they can survive alone, as a
cow cannot. A person enjoying a country joy ride can often see a single horse in a
field because it is common. Cows and horses both have four strong legs, which if
they lost or damaged that leg would have to be put down because both animals
cannot operate without any of their legs. Both animals are herd animals that are
used on farms, and both eat grass and/ or hay to survive. A horse and a cow can be
used in rodeos, one thing they do in rodeos that are alike is bull and bronc riding. It
is the same concept. A person gets on one of the animals for the soul purpose to hold
on for eight seconds without getting thrown off while that animal is bucking to their

Describe three (3) matters this behavior might cover. A manager at MKD
Transportation s first ethical behavior matter to be covered is in regard to the hiring
and firing of an employee pertaining to job performance, while maintaining the
employee s privacy and respect. A second ethical behavior matter can be toward the
company itself, such as an internal conflict of interest as in stealing supplies or
padding expense accounts. A third ethical behavior matter is the relationship a
company has with its employees, customers, competitors, stockholders, suppliers,
dealers and unions to find and achieve the right balance.

Provide two (2) supporting facts. An example of a situation which a company might
adopt a pricing objective to set prices low for a new product would be in order to
establish market share. Pricing decisions are influenced by the need to compete in
the marketplace, by social and ethical concerns as well as corporate image. 1st
supporting fact is to become the number one retailer with a solid understanding of
how to set prices with an ultimate goal of achieving maximum profit as well as
market share objectives. 2nd supporting fact would be how to price, promote and
distribute products to customers. This involves identifying different groups of people
targeted by various companies marketing programs, distribution methods and
competitive potential. On the contrary, with regard to profit maximization a company
should adopt their objective by setting prices high with the intention of selling a
greater number of products to targeted individuals with the full intention of
generating the highest profits. Moreover, this kind of marketing and selling comes
with a high risk of failure if the product is priced to high, fewer products will be sold
ultimately losing money resulting in unsold excess
My Personal Statement On My Injury
I was sitting in the quiet wrestling trailer listening to the rustling of pads and the
click clack of cleats on the floor. Of course I was already dressed, my pre game
routine always on time unlike my teammates. Ten minutes early is on time and on
time is ten minutes late. Everything was tucked in perfectly, every string and
undone shoelace was taped down. Our trainer had taped my ankles perfectly, unlike
the useless student trainers who always tried to tape us before Andrew could get to
it. My cleats, tied as tight as possible. The spats on my cleats kept the jarring of the
torn ligaments in my ankle to a minimum. The compact tape made me feel safe, a
little painto know I was alive, just how I liked it. My compression kneesleeve reached
into my Nike socks, the white color faded and stained from the sweat and blood.
My knee brace followed, perfectly tightened at every strap. The amount of tape
covering every inch of my brace almost looked uncomfortable. White wrist tape
and white gloves, the underside of my left wrist bearing a date, 7 28 12 as a
reminder of the hard work. I could feel my hands clamming up underneath my
gloves with every tap on the shoulder I received as my coaches passed by. My heart
was racing, but my hands were still. I had forgotten the sound of the loud slow
rhythmic thumps of the drums as we lined up outside the trailer. Bum Bum Bum, I
was timing my steps with the slow beats as I got to the front. I locked hands with my
two best friends and began
The Equine Industry
Horses (Equus caballus) also known as equines have played in important role in
various human interactions for hundreds of years. First, horses served as a means of
various warfare, and then a role of transportation for humans. Today, horses are
generally used for recreation and business which make up the equine industry. In the
United States, there are about nine million horses, four million used in recreational
activities, along with about five million people involved in various horseactivities.
Moreover, the equine industry has an impact of over one hundred million dollars on
the United State s Gross Domestic Product in jobs and spending. Floridais one of the

The World Bank And Imf
As a result of the inadequacies of the World Bank and IMF, Uganda today appears
to be no better off today then as they were in the year(s) prior to acquiring the
assistance in debt relief in 1998. According to Ana Eiras; Despite such a monstrous
display of resources, according to the index of economic freedom, the Bank s
money has done nothing to improve the economic freedom in recipient countries .
Erias goes on to make it clear that many of the country s who have received
assistance have seen no change or economic improvement and are just as poor as
they were many years ago. There is a distinct ineffectiveness on the part of the World
Bankand IMF to effectively utilize their plethora of economic intelligence,
strategic relationships, and technical and industrial knowledge to help a country to
an improved economic state. Uganda received as much as $650 million in US
dollars for the purposes of debt relief back in 1998. The relief was to provide
assistance in several ways to include an educational program, the purchase and
cancellation by HIPC Trust Fund of outstanding IDA credits the payment of debt
service by HIPC Trust Fund , savings on IDA charges associated with these
instruments , (Press Release 1998). In short the World Bank was to cover as much
as half of Uganda s annual debt. They were awarded this because they had met the
requirements , and Uganda was said to have the strongest performing economies in
Africa . (Press Release 1998) What was
The Ascent Of Money Summary
In The Ascent of Money Niall Ferguson gives an in depth historical look at money
and finance. He begins with ancient banking practices in ancient Mesopotamia, and
finishes his book with his predictions for the near future based on patterns that he
sees. In the book he discusses the rise of money and credit; the bondmarket; the stock
market; insurance; real estate; and international finance.
Niall Fergusson believes that finance and money was made as a necessity for
urbanization and development, but that every time there has been an international
globalized system set up, that it results in disaster. There has always been trade
between people from different areas, but when it is on a massive global scale it
results in disaster. His premise is that the first true globalized economy led to WWI,
and that the United States is headed for a military showdown with China.
In the first chapter titled Dreams of Avarice: the Rise of Money and Credit
discusses the origins of money and credit and how it has come to help shape the
modern economy. Fergusson says that money had its origins in Mesopotamia as
clay tablets which were recording transactions such as for agrarian. He also says
that credit was given by a Mesopotamian family to people as far away as in Persia
in order to purchase homes. I thought that that was very interesting. He then goes on
to say that the early Christians were not allowed to practice interest or usury, but
Jewish law allowed for the Jews to give loans to
The Importance Of Nonfiction
Reading is something you do every day. In fact, you are reading right now.
Reading is very important in everyday life, so we also stress the importance of it in
the classroom. Whether you are in English, History, Science or Math class there is
always something for you to read. Books, articles, short stories, and many more fill
the agendas in our classes. There is no doubt that we are reading, but the question is
are we reading the material we need to be reading. The article The Importance of
Reading in Earnest stresses the importance of nonfiction. Nonfiction can be very
different from fiction, and how you read and comprehend nonfiction is different too.
The style that nonfiction tends to be written in is something that you have to... Show

By reading less and easier books these teenagers stopped challenging themselves,
and this lead to the decrease in comprehension. Reading is not like riding a bike.
We must continue to practice if we wish to remain good at it. Topping also points
out in his article how it seems that children do somewhat like nonfiction, but they
are not choosing to read as nonfiction books as fiction books. He then speculates
that the answer lies in the preferences of the teachers. An earlier study has shown
that girls have a preference works of fiction. This fact pared with the fact that the
majority of our teachers are women leads Topping to the conclusion that by
accident teachers have slowly moved away from nonfiction. Coleman and Job has
also marked the lack of nonfiction in the classroom. In fact, Coleman and Job claim
that out of what children read ninety percent is fiction. This figure may seem too
large to be true, but in the library of my school there are nineteen different sections
of the stacks that are available to be checked out. Only one section of those nineteen
consists of nonfiction literature. This is a real life example of how our schools are
placing more and more fiction into the hands of children. Works of fiction are great. I
love them and read them almost every day. There is nothing wrong with reading
fiction, but we must also read nonfiction. Reading nonfiction is important. It
The Issue That Faces Women Is Abortion
Description of the Problem
An important issue that faces women is abortion. With abortion laws constantly
changing, women are finding that they are a continuous target of sexism. Social
work is relative to this subject because often times social workers have to assist
clients who are seeking or who have had an abortion. It is very important that a social
worker is knowledgeable about abortion rights and laws. This is critical as it may
become a part of your case. Women s health is equally as important as everyone s
else s rights. Instead of focusing on what is much more important, lawmakers have
spent a great deal of time focusing on ruling the reproductive rights of women.
Abortion rights for women are a constant challenge. Abortion became legal in the
1973 case of Roe v. Wade by the supreme court. A woman then had the right to make
choices about her own body. This was all in connection with the right to privacy
rights and the pro choice side. The problem is you have individuals that agree with
pro life and pro choice. With that being said, the pro life activist believe that the
pregnancy should not be terminated and the woman should give birth. Pro choice is
when one believes that it s a woman s decision whether she wants to have a baby or
not.
This ties into sexism because by taking control over women s health rights, you re
limiting a women s capabilities as a woman. With sexist thoughts, a woman s rights
can easily be violated with stereotypical thoughts and
The Components Of Mass Communication
For many years now, the task of creating a more stable and reliable form of
communication for sharing information with people as well as with the world is
something that many people across the globe have studied, redesigned, improved, and
rebuilt. The spark of mass communication is all thanks to one man named Alexander
Graham Bell who invented the first telephone. Bell s invention of the telephone has
opened a multitude of opportunities that have extended the way we communicate in
the world today. Bell s invention went public on March 7, 1916, and many people
gathered to see a demonstration that would start a revolution of communication
beyond even Bell s imagination (A Rural Broadband...). That evenings demonstration
made clear that the telephone service was poised to revolutionize communications
and unite every part of the country... (A Rural Broadband...). Bell s invention was the
first reliable, and cost effective way for communication until just a few decades later
when someone decided to take Bell s invention to the next level and help to bring us
public Internet. Just like Bell, AT T is determined to create the world s first truly
reliable and cost effective Internet connection for rural areas by revisiting an old
concept that, at the time, was proved not reliable. I believe that we can help to cut
cost even more by creating a partnership between the FCC and the DOE (Department
of Energy). Using AT T s current plans, we can partner with other companies and
government
A Note On Bad News
Communicating Bad News Bad news has come from companies in different forms
over the years, employee layoffs, unexpected financial outcomes, crises both internal
and external, and natural disasters to name a few (French, S. L., Holden, T. Q.,
2012). For Toyota it came in 2010, with 4,872,583 vehicles recalled, accounting for
29.7% of all vehicles recalled that year (Mezey, A., Hamilton, S., Kuwahara, K.,
Sandlin, C., 2013). The failure on the company s part was in how the recalls were
handled, the lack of internal and external communication, as well as the lack of
acceptance of responsibility both played substantial roles in the public s view of the
company.
Background
The problem was, Toyota vehicles were experiencing unintended ... Show more

Which may have to do with the fact that consumer activism is underdeveloped and
lawsuits are uncommon in Japan (Mezey et al., 2012). Although in American and the
West in general the lack of time sensitivity was taken as a sign if indifference and
inconclusiveness on Toyota s part (Mezey et al., 2012).
Internal Communication Issues The lead problem stems from the fact that Toyota
failed to communicate with its own employees that safety was first, quality was
second, and production was third according to the president of Toyota, Akio Toyoda
(Mezey et al., 2012). He stated that Toyota had pursued production over the
development of their people and the organization (Mezey et al., 2012). The failure to
properly communicate between North American and Japanese executives caused
issues, although the North American executives had a better understanding of the
reality of what was happening, they had no say in the recall process (Mezey et al.,
2012). That corporate structure is what prompted the U.S. Secretary of
Transportation, Ray LaHood. to worry that the North American executive issues were
not being communicated in Japan (Mezey et al., 2012). LaHood and the Nation

All Quiet On The Western Front
Title: All Quiet on the Western Front
Creator: Erich Maria Remarque
Date of Publication: 1929
Class: War Novel
Anecdotal Information about Author:
Erich Maria Remarque was conceived on 22 June 1898 into a working people family
in the German city of OsnabrГјck to Peter Franz Remark (b. 14 June 1867,
Kaiserswerth) and Anna Maria (nГ©e Stallknecht; conceived 21 November 1871,
Katernberg).
During World War I, Remarque was recruited into the armed force at 18 years old.
On 12 June 1917, he was exchanged toward the Western Front, 2nd Company,
Reserves, Field Depot of the 2nd Guards Reserve Division at Hem Lenglet. On 26
June, he was presented on the 15th Reserve Infantry Regiment, 2nd Company,
Engineer Platoon Bethe, and was positioned in the middle of Torhout and Houthulst.
On 31 July, he was injured by shrapnel in the left leg, right arm and neck, and was
repatriated to an armed force healing center in Germany where he spent whatever
remains of the war
In 1927, Remarque made a second abstract begin with the novel Station at the
Horizon (Station am Horizont), which was serialized in the games diary Game im
Bild for which Remarque was working. It was distributed in book frame just in 1998.
His best known work, All Quiet on the Western Front(Im Westen nichts Neues), was
composed in a couple of months in 1927, yet Remarque was not instantly ready to
discover a publisher.[5]The novel, distributed in 1929, depicted the encounters of
German officers amid World War I.
Importance of National Income
A variety of measures of national income and output are used in economics to
estimate total economic activity in a country or region, including gross domestic
product (GDP), gross national product (GNP), net national income (NNI), and
adjusted national income (NNI* adjusted for natural resource depletion). All are
specially concerned with counting the total amount of goods and services produced
within some boundary . The boundary is usually defined by geography or citizenship,
and may also restrict the goods and services that are counted. For instance, some
measures count only goods and services that are exchanged for money, excluding
bartered goods, while other measures may attempt to include bartered goods by
imputing monetary values to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the complication of the multiple stages in the production of a good or
service, only the final value of a good or service is included in the total output.
This avoids an issue often called double counting , wherein the total value of a good
is included several times in national output, by counting it repeatedly in several
stages of production. In the example of meat production, the value of the good from
the farm may be $10, then $30 from the butchers, and then $60 from the
supermarket. The value that should be included in final national output should be
$60, not the sum of all those numbers, $90. The values added at each stage of
production over the previous stage are respectively $10, $20, and $30. Their sum
gives an alternative way of calculating the value of final output.
Formulae:
GDP(gross domestic product) at market price = value of output in an economy in the
particular year intermediate consumption
NNP at factor cost = GDP at market price depreciation + NFIA (net factor income
from abroad) net indirect taxes[3]
[edit]The income approach
The income approach equates the total output of a nation to the total factor income
received by residents or citizens of the nation. The main types of factor income are:
Employee compensation (cost of fringe benefits, including unemployment, health,
and retirement benefits);
Interest received net of interest paid;
Rental income (mainly for the use of real estate) net of

Education Reform For The Elementary And Secondary...
Throughout the history of education there has been many education reforms.
According to Enrique Pena Nieto Education reform has as its main purpose to make
sure that the education delivered is of quality ( (2015 BrainyQuote INC, 2015).
Whether it be for primary and secondary students, higher education, low income
students, or teachers, there is always an improvement that can be made for the better.
A comparison of educationreforms that reveals some of the positive, negative, and
needed changes in education.
One of the biggest reforms in American education history came in 1965 when the
Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) was signed. Told by the this
article ESEA initiated Title 1 which is a legislation that provided funds for the
quality and betterment for primary and secondary schools and school districts
with a high percentage of low income students (Ayers,Jeremy 2011). Since this
regulation was passed there have been many positive changes such as drop out
rates, parental involvement, and providing more qualified teacher s percentage
have all increased significantly (Ayers,Jeremy 2011). Other great reforms were
Smith Hugh, Act of 1917 (SMHA) and School to Work Opportunity Act (STWOA)
of 1994. Comparatively, all three reforms were federal funded programs to increase
the number of qualified teachers. However in an article by Stephens, G. E. (1995),
ESEA was a legislation devoted to improving low income student s education. SMHA
and STOWA were reforms concentrated

Allowing College Students To Have Guns On Campus
Mass college shootings are becoming more and more common each day, happening
all over the country. This is an issue that requires a solution. Some people believe
that allowing college students to have guns on campus will help solve the issue.
Numerous states have already started passing bills that allow guns on campuses,
and many more are trying. The Editorial Board at The Arizona Republic are
fighting against these laws, as seen in their editorial Our View: Time to allow guns
on campus? No. . The authors use various points in hopes of bringing awareness to
this issue and to persuade the reader that allowing college students to have guns
will not solve any issues, but will only bring upon more. When taking a stance on a

article is effective in acknowledging these opinions. The authors of the article

Towards the end of the article the authors use an anecdotal fallacy, and compare
college shootings to a situation that happened in Arizona. Arizona s personal
experience with mass murder also shows the dangers of relying on armed civilians

against having guns on campus (Our View). This argument is not strong, and is
more of a shot at the citizens in Arizona rather than a point for their side. A few lines

fallacious to think that simply having more guns at the scene of a massacre will result

though that is their opinion on the issue, they just attacked their opponents rather
than stating why they feel having guns could make issues
Meniere s Disease Research Paper
The official cause of Meniere s Disease isn t still completely understood. It is
presumed to be caused due to a large amount of fluid called endolymph built up in
the inner ear. When different events cause the inner ear fluid to fluctuate, this
disease can occur. There are other possible triggers such as, improper fluid draining,
head trauma and viral infections. Since there is not a known single cause for this
disease doctors believe Meniere s is due to a combination of these different factors.
Meniere s Disease affects the nervous system in various ways. Even though the
disease is specifically located in the inner ear it impacts balance along with hearing.
Patients with Meniere s Disease experience attacks where the symptoms are
heightened. During an attack patients experience Vertigo which is the feeling of
everything spinning around you when in reality they are not. The sensation of
Vertigo can last from minutes to hours. It can become so severe it can cause vomiting
and nausea. Meniere s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medications and injections consisting of Gentamicin along with steroids can be
taken to help with the Vertigo. Doctors often prescribe the combination of
triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide to reduce the buildup of fluid. If the Vertigo is
very severe and impacts the quality of life for the patient surgery is an option.
Endolymphatic Sac is a procedure that decreases the amount of fluid in the inner ear.
Finally a Vestibular nerve section is a procedure where the nerve that connects the
balance and movement sensors are cut. Clearly there are always risks when surgery is
involved. There is always the possibility that undergoing surgery can cause permanent
hearing loss. However, for many people that risk outweighs the possibility of
improvement. With the combination of all these different treatment options patients

Common and Preferred Stock
How do Corporations raise capital? All of the large corporations could not have
grown to their present size without being able to find innovative ways to raise
capital to finance ultimate expansion. There are many ways this can be
accomplished, but this review will take a look at just two ways: the issuance of
Preferred Stock and selling of Common Stock. What exactly is a stock, anyway?
Basically, stock is ownership, simple as that. Buy a share of APPLE Inc. and acquire

In contrast to a Common Stock, a company may choose to issue Preferred Stock to
raise capital. Preferred Stock represents a hybrid in the sense that it is an equity
interest with certain features resembling debt. Buyers of these shares have special
status in the event the underlying company encounters financial trouble. A typical
preferred shareholder doesn t vote on the composition of the company s board or
other matters. They are more interested in receiving regular dividends, since these
dividends do not fluctuate based on the company s profits; each preferred
shareholder is entitled to a fixed amount at certain periods, just so long as the
company has the money to do so. Dividends are, also, paid to preferred
stockholders before they are paid to common stockholders. Preferred stock is
issued with a specific dividend rate. The dividend rate may be stated as a dollar
amount or as a percentage of the par value. When dividends are paid, preferred
stockholders are paid the amount applicable to their class of preferred stock. Several
advantages to issuing preferred stock include: no dilution of management s interest in
corporate growth or in voting power (if non voting preferred stock is issued), and
predictable dividend payments and preferences upon liquidation (for which investors
may pay a premium). Although, disadvantages include: a

people get killed from both the sides and no one is responsible for the death of
others, and so is it with Jimmy. Even if he wasn t thinking about Martha he couldn
t had done much to save Ted s life. Ted had gone for the bathroom when he got shot
by the enemy. These soldiers were young, they had no idea of strategies of wars,
nor what they were exactly looking for during their march in different villages.
After the death of Ted, Jimmy understands that he needs to be more focused on the
war and his duty as the platoon leader. O Brien describes the war as, a place where

Essay Perception of God and Evil by Augustine of Hippo
Augustine of Hippo (354 430) is among the most influential thinkers in Christianity.
He contributed a great number of ideas and notions to Christian theology that would
have lasting effect on belief systems in Christian churches. One of his most notable
contributions is the notion of original sin and his concept of evil. These notions
evolved over the years. Augustine traces their evolution in his Confessions, a thirteen
volume autobiography he wrote when he was in his forties.
An essential part of Confessions is Augustine s conversion to Christianity and his
evolving understanding of good and evil. In book seven of Confessions, Augustine
describes his perception of God before his conversion to Christianity. He explains that

Significantly, Manichaeism perceives of God and his evil antagonist, Satan, as being
restricted to the world. This notion appealed to the young Augustine, as he struggled
to comprehend how anything like evil could exist. He seek out Neoplatonic books
only to conclude that it shares similar Manichean teaching where evil represents
physical matters like the body. However, Neoplatonism helped him realize a new
understanding of God existing in an intelligible realm.
After his conversion to Christianity, Augustine came to think of God not just as a
spiritual being but also sovereign over all beings, which is a clear rejection of the
Manichaeistic worldview. The lyrics to Carman s The Champion sum up Augustine s
notion of God quite nicely, when they state, Of the war between the lord of sin and
death, And the Omnipotent Creator of man s first breath, Who will decide who will
forever be the Champion ( The Champion second stanza).
God is according to Augustine the single sovereign, who rules over everything, even
the evil forces in the universe. This sovereignty is grounded in Augustine s
understanding that God created everything. This assumption ultimately solves the
question why evil exists. It exists because God created it, just like he created
everything else. Augustine suggests that everything God creates in inherently good.
However, creatures can become evil because they are prone to corruption (Mann 44).
Furthermore, rational beings have
Mcdonald s Essay
McDonald s Faces Millennial Challenge by: Julie Jargon
Aug 25, 2014
TOPICS: Change; Competitive Positioning
SUMMARY: McDonald s is losing its luster with younger consumers. Customers in
their 20s and 30s are defecting to competitors, in particular so called fast casual
restaurants like Chipotle Mexican Grill and gourmet burger chain Five Guys.
Younger diners are seeking out fresher, healthier food and chains that offer
customizable menu options for little more than the price of a combo meal.
TERM PAPER APPLICATION: In analyzing the predicament, it is vital to cite facts

In the U.S., with more than 40% of McDonald s 35,000 plus global locations, sales at
restaurants open at least 13 months have been flat or falling for most of the past year.
The hamburger giant on Friday announced it was replacing the head of its U.S.
division for the second time in less than two years. The company tapped a former
executive, Mike Andres, to take the helm of the domestic business another sign that
the company is trying to revive its fortunes at home.
McDonald s stock has traded in a relatively narrow range in the nearly 26 months
since Chief Executive Don Thompson took the helm, while the share prices of
many of its rivals have soared. McDonald s shares are down about 2% since the start
of the year, closing at $94.45 Friday.
Demographics help shed light on McDonald s woes. Data compiled for The Wall
Street Journal by restaurant consultancy Technomic Inc. point to an age problem for
the chain. Customers in their 20s and 30s long a mainstay of McDonald s business
are defecting to competitors, in particular so called fast casual restaurants like
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. and gourmet burger chain Five Guys Holdings LLC.
Increasingly, younger diners are seeking out fresher, healthier food and chains that
offer customizable menu options for little more than the price of a combo meal.

The Recorded History Of Ghana
The recorded history of Ghana begins in 1471, when Portuguese traders landed on
the coast in search of gold, ivory, and spices. Following the Portuguese came the
Dutch, the Danes, the Swedes, the Prussians, and the British. Commerce in gold gave
way to the slave trade until the latter was outlawed by Great Britain in 1807. The
19th century brought a gradual adjustment to legitimate trade, the withdrawal of all
European powers except the British, and many wars involving the Ashanti, who had
welded themselves into a powerful military confederacy; their position as the
principal captors of slaves for European traders had brought them into conflict with
the coastal tribes. British troops fought seven wars with the Ashanti from 1806 to
1901, when their kingdom was annexed by the British crown.(Encyclopedia, 2007)
Amada (2010) stated that Ghana s history prior to the 15th century is concentrated
primarily on oral traditions, however it is believed that people may have inhabited
what is present day Ghana from about 1500 B.C.E. European contact with Ghana
began in 1470. In 1482, the Portuguese built a trading settlement there. Shortly
thereafter for three centuries, the Portuguese, English, Dutch, Danes and Germans all
controlled different parts of the coast. Colonial period: 1902 1957 Amada (2010)
also explained that in 1821, the British took control of all of the trading posts located
on the Gold Coast. From 1826 to 1900, the British then fought battles against the

The Multiethnicity Of Venice
While walking in Venice the multiethnicity of the city is everywhere. It s in the
language and in the languages; it s in the structure itself of the city; it s in the many
cultural events and it s of course in the people. Venice is a seaside town, and like
many other popular port cities it has a long history of contacts, trades, relations and
exchanges with other cultures and populations. The ones looking out to the
Mediterranean sea, like the Balkans but also the Orients such as the Ottoman and
Abbasid Empires were some of the favourite trade partner of Venice. In the city itself,
almost since its foundation, there were many other communities, like Jews , Greeks
and Armenians and later on, also small groups of Turks, Persians and Arabs... Show

Venice is also the privileged location of the Venice film festival
, the Venice biennale
of arts and architecture; but also concerts, dance performance from all over the world
and so on.
The people of Venice
Comparing the statistics over the years, it appears clear that there is a problem
related to the residents of Venice. In fact, in the Venice centre in the 1951 the
inhabitants used to be 174 808 while in the 2014 they appeared to be 56 311.
But if the number of inhabitants is dramatically decreasing, the number of the
students and tourists are constantly increasing .
Even if the impact on the city is directly proportional to the duration of stay, and so
the tourist hiself only stays for a short period of time, the tourism phenomenon itself
is constant and deeply shape the city; so as they do the medium term residents (e.g.
students, professors, artists) who modify the city and the long term residents who
modify the bones of the city and the urban
Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivations For Focus On The
Learner
Focus on the Learner Page 1
Introduction:
Nowadays, it is well known that learning a second language is as important as
studying in the high school or the elementary school. English is one of the most
important languages that we need to know and understand, because almost all the
jobs require it..
Student Background: My studentВґs name is Juan Pablo Cabuto. Juan is 11 years old,
he lives with his mother, father and sister, who is 5 years old. Juan is in 6th grade.
His frist language is Spanish, his mother knows English but she does not speak to
him in English. He started to study English a year ago, but then his schedule changed
and he could not continue studying, that is why he knows only a few things in
English.
Motivation for Learning: What motivates Juan to continue studying English involves
both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. First, his extrinsic motivation involves his
getting into the secondary school which his parents want him to go to, he needs
English to attend. Juan shows his intrinsic motivation by wanting to improve his
English and thus be able to communicate with other people around the world. He
wants to understand the lyrics of the songs and finally he is interested in computers
and most of this information is in English.
Learning style: Janu is a visual and musical learner, he likes to observe first, and see
how the activity is going, visuals, movies, stories, he works better alone that in teams,

The Theme in The Minister’s Black Veil Essay
The Theme in The Minister s Black Veil
Morse Peckham in The Development of Hawthorne s Romanticism explains what he
interprets Hawthorne s main theme to be in his short stories:
This technique, though Hawthorne s is different from that of European writers,
creates analogies between self and not self, between personality and the worlds. . .
.Henceforth Hawthorne s theme is the redemption of the self through the acceptance
and exploitation of what society terms the guilt of the individual but which to the
Romantic is society s guilt (92).
The interplay between the guilt of the individual, Reverend Mr. Hooper, and society s
guilt, underlies all of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black ... Show more

. . . it puts one outside the magic circle or the magnetic chain of humanity, where
there is neither love nor reality (54).
The theme arises from the central conflict in the tale, which is an internal one, a
spiritual moral conflict within the minister, the Reverend Mr. Hooper. Everything he
has to say is related, finally, to that inward sphere (McPherson 68 69). The minister s
absorption into the problems of his inner sphere cause the draping of the crape veil
and the resultant alienation from people.
At the outset of the tale, The Minister s Black Veil, the sexton is tolling the church
bell and simultaneously watching Mr. Hooper s door, when suddenly he says, ``But
what has good Parson Hooper got upon his face? The surprise which the sexton
displayed is repeated in the astonishment of the onlookers: With one accord they
started, expressing more wonder. . . The reason is this: Swathed about his
forehead, and hanging down over his face, so low as to be shaken by his breath is a
black veil. The 30 year old, unmarried parson receives a variety of reactions from his
congregation, all of which imply the alienation that is in the mind of the speaker or
doer:
``I can t really feel as if good Mr. Hooper s face was behind that piece of crape

Interpretation Of Interpretation
In this week, our focus mostly drew on the interpretation of our sources, finding
evidence to interoperate, and make up our strong thesis. According to Writing
Analytically, the first thing we should pay our attention is that we are supposed to
concentrate on what the thing itself communicates as opposed to what someone
might have wanted it to communicate, which means that it is not bad thing to

Secondly, explain how the details you have focused on in the evidence lead your
working thesis. Thirdly, locate evidence that is not adequately accounted for by the
working thesis and pursue the implications of that evidence by repeatedly asking so
what? Explain how and why these pieces of evidence complicate the working thesis.
Fourthly, use your analysis of the complicating evidence to reformulate the thesis.
Sharing with reader your reasons for moving from your initial claim to this
reformulation. Fifthly, test the adequacy of the evolved this by repeating steps two,
three, and four until you are satisfied that the thesis statement accounts for your
evidence as fully and accurately as possible. The best test of a thesis is to see how
much of the relevant evidence it can reasonably account for. Finally, rewrite the draft
into a more coherent and fuller analysis of evidence, while retaining for readers the
thesis trail the various steps that you went through along the way to formulating the
thesis you ultimately choose. I would definitely say that these 6 steps helped me a lot
to track with my thesis statement.
In this week, we kept our focus on how to make our thesis statement complex and
compelling, and also we paid lots of attention on secondary source integration.
At this time, we were require to keep on track of our papers. Which means we drew
a clear conclusion on what we can change and what we should remain constant at this
time. Obviously,
Springdale Nursing Home
I visit the Springdale Nursing Home Facility. The people there were nice and I
actually volunteered there to pursue my training in becoming a CNA. My mother
used to work there a long time ago and she enjoyed it, but now everything has
changed. At the agency, their mission is to care for the elderly and treat them with
care. The agency allows extend care for their clients. They care for their clients as
part of their own family. They help and reteach them how to do everyday living.
There were some healthissues, but instead of running around with their heads cut off.
They treated the clients and made sure that everyone was okay. I can say that

She enjoys her job and she takes care of some of the clients there on a needed basis
because they request for her care. I would say that she is one of the best CNA
nurses there because she has a calm, loving, and gentle heart and soul. I got speak
with some elderly individuals. They were so happy to me and were anxious to
speak with me and be around me. They told me stories about their life and what
their occupation was before they fell ill. I got to speak to a lot of veterans which
was unique and interesting because it made me realize the type of counselor, I
would to be and how I can change others life. I was able to feed some residents
there and they were so appreciative and humble. One veteran told me he love the
activities because it reminded him of his childhood. We played balloon volleyball
and bingo. I felt like a resident because of the interaction. Some residents had a
different prospective of the facility and said how they would be better in their own
home and have freedom. Some felt like they were in a prison not being able to go
anywhere. I noticed some got to walk freely around the building, but others were
locked in. A few of the staff members would say that some residents are crazy and
they do not know what they be saying, but I know that it is consider abuse if a

Cover Gray Naturally for Healthy, Beautiful Hair
Seeing more than a few strands of tinsel in your hair lately? You re not alone. Going
gray is one of the most prominent signs of aging, and it occurs when your hair loses
a natural pigment called melanin . Hair may also go gray due to a genetic

When you re at the point where yanking out a strand or two out just doesn t cut it
anymore, you may be tempted to run out and grab a box of hair dye. Take a moment
to reconsider, though. Research has shown that the synthetic chemicals in most

  • 2. Demonism In The Metamorphosis Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis is a fantastical tale of an everyday business man and his life after morphing into an enormous insect. Over the course of the story, Gregor s family begins to demonize him as the threat they believe him to be. Gregor s acceptance of this new existence only aids in the degradation of his humanity, his lack of communitive skills only further this development, a stark contrast to his previous salesman persona. Could he not have written out his thoughts, shifting items into words, no matter how arbitrarily so? Perhaps, his family then would have pursued a cure, or even a more harmonious living arrangement. However, this story is less about the insect and more about the individual and how any form of excessive difference, be it political, moral, and/or physical, causes us as humans to attack as a natural reaction.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon discovery of his newly donned insectoid form Gregor quickly shoves it off to instead focus on continuing his usual work schedule no matter the difficultly. When the office manager pays him a visit and is appalled by Gregor s ghastly new form Gregor begs to simply continue work though it may be less productive. This interaction is a representation of the relationship between the Jewish people and the Austro Hungarian Empire. Gregor, the traveling salesman, embodies the Jew of whom wandered for many years after fleeing the Roman Empire. Starting after an annexing of Polish lands, where people of Jewish descent had settled, many Jewish people migrated into Austro Hungary between 1750 and 1850 and later again into the bigger cities between 1880 and 1914. During this time the Habsburgs began to pass legislation protecting the Jews from the strong anti Semitic views held by many of the empires citizens, specifically those of the Catholic faith who make up a majority of the population, this caused many Jews to feel indebted to their

The red and golden leaves, the first nip of chill in the breeze, the eternal smell of cinnamon, she loved it all. But most of all, she loved the time she spent with her father. As far as she was concerned, those days could last forever. Nevertheless, Genie would soon find that this holiday was particularly memorable. What do you mean he has Stonelock? Only old Gargoyles get that! Genie blurt out at the news. She could hardly believe her ears at first. Sure her father had been limping, and his movements had been more stiff, but he was still in his prime. He couldn t be sick! She refused to believe it. Now, Genie, Her mother soothed in her usual stone cold voice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sure enough... You are doing it all wrong. How s that? You have to start all over. Anger surged through Genie s heart at her mother s monotone words. She swore she turned a dark purple at the very thought. Faster than she could contain herself the words bubbled to the surface and spilled out of her mouth. I am following the instructions! So I do not need your help. She spun around, waving the whisk. Only too late did she realize she had gotten some of the orange pulp on her mother s face. The women looked startled well as far as Genie could tell, which was hard for even her. Slowly, she moved her claw to her cheek and removed the gunk. And to Genie s surprise, it got flung right back at her. Before either of them knew it, they were scooping up large handfuls of pie filling to toss at each other. When they ran out of the filling, they moved onto the cranberry sauce, the stuffing, even the gravy! The whole kitchen became a battle scene of flying edible projectiles. All Genie s hard work came undone. What is going on here? Her father s shocked voice stopped both in
  • 4. British Literature Exam IV. Question 2 Compare and contrast Milton s Raphael with Pope s Ariel in as many respects as you can. John Milton and Alexander Pope both write of supporting characters that are sent to protect the main character in their stories. Both Ariel and Raphael have many similar qualities that make them a character that is used to bring warning to the protagonist and to foreshadow to readers what the outcome of the story will be. Ariel is a sylph, or a magical being that was a coquette in his life before. Although this is distinctly different than Raphael s identity as one of God s angels, they share several qualities. Both are described as being very friendly and gentle. Ariel warns Belinda through a dream in attempt to protect her from the stealing of a lock of her hair. Raphael is sent to Eden to become friends with Adam and to warn him of the sin that is lying in wait for them. Both of these guardians are seeking protection for the human and desire for them to be kept from evil. They also try to relate to the humans. Ariel understands Belinda s vanity and pride in her appearance because he once was a coquette as well. He even assists in her thorough morning routine. Raphael is also able to relate to Adam through the discussion of love. Adam asks him about angel s love lives and Raphael is able to understand Adam s struggle to not idolize his love for Eve. Angels seem to have many qualities that are similar to Adam and Eve s, which makes it very easy for Raphael to

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is one of the programs that the government has decided it cannot continue to finance at its current rates, and the money being put into NASA has been cut back. The economy is doing poorly, and government money is better spent elsewhere, and apparently they feel that government money would be better spent outside of programs like NASA. However, there are many sources that directly counter this opinion, claiming that NASA is an investment to stimulate the economy, and not just money being shot into space . The cost of NASA, as is true of almost any government agency, is worth it, because it can benefit the economy directly through the purchase of goods and creation of jobs, and indirectly by inspiring people in industries that spawn from invented technologies or materials. Many companies have gone on to be very successful private businesses after working with materials invented by NASA. The Tempur Pedic mattress company got its start when NASA scientists wanted to provide comfortable seating for pilots that needed to remain in one position for a long time. There are many cases like these in which niches have been created for companies due to progress made at

  • 7. Point Guard Vs Shooting Guard Essay I m comparing and contrasting two basketball positions, point guard and shooting guard. These two positions are alike and different in many ways. One way I m focusing on is, what are their responsibilities? The next thing that I m focusing on is, do these two players work together? The last thing that I m focusing on is how tall do you have to be for these two positions? Some people may think that point and shooting guards do the same thing. Most of the things they do are similar, but there are some differences. One similarity is that, they both have to control the ball while getting the players to understand the plays. In contrast, one thing that the point guard does that the shooting guard doesn t is bring the ball down the court. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When help is being needed they both have to make sure they re there because their teammates are going to pass it to one of them. It is exciting but it takes skill for these two positions. There are really tall people that play basketball, but that is not an requirement. You don t have to really have height to play these two positions. In comparison, the point and shooting guards are usually the shortest ones on the team. People also think that the point guard Is the shortest one on the team. Good news is they don t have to be! On the other hand, shooting guard is the shortest one on the team. The post are the taller ones that s why they are there to shoot. What I learned from researching these two positions are that they can be really fun to be on a basketball team. I also learned that basketball is not easy and it is a physical sport. This decision will lead to the result buying high and selling low and lead to lower returns and higher risk. The solution for this is investors should focus on their goals and the overall returns in the portfolio than on the losses in an individual accounts, besides make sure the investment decisions are parallel with long term goals. Additionally, the effectiveness of these drugs varies between patients (3). According to the Alzheimer s Association there are several promising new drug therapies in the development stages that may be more effective in stopping the disease progression and ultimately curing Alzheimer s patients. Two drugs, in particular, in the research stage, show exciting potential. The first, Solanezumab, is designed to lower the levels of beta amyloid in the brainthereby stopping the damaging plaques from adhering to brain tissue. The second, CSP 1103, is a microglial modulator that targets inflammation in the brain and also works to prevent beta amyloid from being deposited on brain tissue (3). Other notable areas of research include: Researchers are working to stop tau proteins in the brain from becoming impaired (3). Tau protein, which normally stabilizes the nerve cell, becomes damaged and tangled and ultimately destroys the neuron in Alzheimer s disease. Additionally, studies are underway regarding the use of intranasal insulin therapy as a possible treatment (3). Research has been limited by the fact that living brain tissue of Alzheimer s patients cannot be removed for study. Within the past few years though, stem cell scientists have successfully converted living cells from AD patients into the types of neurons that are affected by Alzheimer s disease (induced pluripotent stem cells). This is significant

Caravaggio murdered a man during a brawl and fled Rome. He died not long after, on July 18, 1610. Even though Caravaggio was rejected after his death, he finally came to be recognized as one of the founding fathers of current painting. The Calling of St. Matthew was painted from 1597 to 1601 by Michelangelo Merisi (Caravaggio) through oil on canvas (Biography.com Editors). Additionally, Caravaggio transports this canvas to life with bright colors; bold contrasts of reds, golds and greens and many surfaces of velvets and soft fur. He also contrasts gestures and expressions and used the contrast principle to differentiate the bright from the dark, which creates interest in the characters portrayed. He intends to tell us that the atmospheric perspective used in this painting is to create depth, like the window behind the individuals. However, as the year went on my cooperating teacher started to get her students to be solving two digit addition and subtractions problems. Before she started with two digit she wanted to be certain that her students felt confident along with concrete knowledge and examples in their one digit equations because if not, they would fall apart for two digit equations. My teacher had opened with two digit addition, by developing knowledge on base ten blocks for approximately two weeks, then progressed her students to the standard algorithm. My classroom is set up for their numeracy portion of the class that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My student at the beginning of two digit addition struggled with being organized in his base ten block drawings and would get the answer wrong because he would circle 11 ones instead of 10. When he got the opportunity to work with the actual base ten blocks he had a strong concept of regrouping. Before the lesson my cooperating teacher taught them how to do the standard algorithm, which my case study student took to excellent. During the process of the standard algorithm I asked him to walk me through what he was doing and the process. He explained that he carried the one over because it was making a new ten and then counted twenty plus thirty plus ten instead of 1 plus two plus three, which I felt like the was understanding the place value. I thought during the lesson if my student was advancing ways to challenge him on this assignment would be to have him add three two digit numbers or have him add one two digit and one three digit number. Then if I felt like my student was starting to struggle I could have his partner help him solve the process, bring out the base ten blocks, or have him just add one two digit and one digit numbers until he got the concept
  • 16. A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height is correlational. I believe it is, based on my personal experiences. Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It s common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a clearer relationship between shoe sizeand height when girls and boys are measured separately. The shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between height and shoe size. Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were from ages 16 18 years old. These students were picked based on convenience. This survey might be somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did the standard deviation, scatter plot graphs, and correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the diffusion of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It s used when assessing data. To find the standard deviation, it s necessary to first find the mean. Now we find how far each value is from the mean (the deviation). Then, square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a scatter plot graph
  • 17. Diagnosis Of An Informal Caregiver During the stages Alzheimer s in which the resident is in need of care, but that care is not too complex, it is most common to turn to an informal caregiver. According to the 2016 Alzheimer s Disease Facts and Figures (2016), In 2015, caregivers of people with Alzheimer s and other dementias provided an estimated 18.1 billion hours of informal (that is, unpaid) assistance, a contribution to the nation valued at $221.3 billion (p. 32). Informal caregivers are mainly daughters and spouses of the residents. Females make up the majority of familymember caretakers, but it is becoming more common for men to take on this role (Brodaty Donkin, 2009). Roughly a third of the caretakers in the United States are over the age of sixty five and the majority are married or are in long term relationships. It has also been found that around 23% of caretakers for residents with dementia also have their own children under age eighteen (Alzheimer s Association, 2016). This can increase the level of stress that the caregiverfaces, as he or she is being stretched in different directions. Informal caregivers take on the role of caring for the resident for a number of reasons. One of which includes the fact that they believe that they owe a debt of gratitude to their loved ones. Other reasons include a feeling that it is what they should do regardless of whether or not they want to or because they believe that it will provide them with a feeling of fulfillment. • 18. What Is The Scale Of Nature In Paradise Lost Carly Merryman ENGL 328 Stoll 3 October 2014 Paradise Lost: Books V VI Milton s scale of nature, while appearing linear, allows the creatures within in it to ascend to God by steps, (V.512). This creates a dynamic scale that would enable a particular being the ability to move up and down the scale based on its behaviors, and align itself closer to God. However, an animal or a human can only climb so far. No matter how virtuous an animal was it could never surpass a human because it is lacking the spiritual essence that God awarded to man. Similarly, a human, while living, could never attain the same closeness to God as an angel. So while this allows for some degree of mobility, each sect of the scale is confined within the parameters that God set forth. If the creation was one first matter all as Raphael says to Adam then that would mean that all matter came from God. Not only does this reconcile science and religious beliefs because as Newton s First Law says, Matter can neither be created nor destroyed, but it also asserts that all matter begins as being inherently good. This explanation disqualifies ex nihlo because as science says there can be no absolute nothing. Milton s attempts to resolve the religion versus science issues are made stronger by his references to Galileo and astronomy. But Milton s version of the creation tackles the problem of absolute nothingness. If there were absolute nothingness before matter, then that nothingness would have had to

He begins with ancient banking practices in ancient Mesopotamia, and finishes his book with his predictions for the near future based on patterns that he sees. In the book he discusses the rise of money and credit; the bondmarket; the stock market; insurance; real estate; and international finance. Niall Fergusson believes that finance and money was made as a necessity for urbanization and development, but that every time there has been an international globalized system set up, that it results in disaster. There has always been trade between people from different areas, but when it is on a massive global scale it results in disaster. His premise is that the first true globalized economy led to WWI, and that the United States is headed for a military showdown with China. In the first chapter titled Dreams of Avarice: the Rise of Money and Credit discusses the origins of money and credit and how it has come to help shape the modern economy. Fergusson says that money had its origins in Mesopotamia as clay tablets which were recording transactions such as for agrarian. He also says that credit was given by a Mesopotamian family to people as far away as in Persia in order to purchase homes. I thought that that was very interesting. He then goes on to say that the early Christians were not allowed to practice interest or usury, but Jewish law allowed for the Jews to give loans to

With abortion laws constantly changing, women are finding that they are a continuous target of sexism. Social work is relative to this subject because often times social workers have to assist clients who are seeking or who have had an abortion. It is very important that a social worker is knowledgeable about abortion rights and laws. This is critical as it may become a part of your case. Women s health is equally as important as everyone s else s rights. Instead of focusing on what is much more important, lawmakers have spent a great deal of time focusing on ruling the reproductive rights of women. Abortion rights for women are a constant challenge. Abortion became legal in the 1973 case of Roe v. Wade by the supreme court. A woman then had the right to make choices about her own body. This was all in connection with the right to privacy rights and the pro choice side. The problem is you have individuals that agree with pro life and pro choice. With that being said, the pro life activist believe that the pregnancy should not be terminated and the woman should give birth. Pro choice is when one believes that it s a woman s decision whether she wants to have a baby or not. This ties into sexism because by taking control over women s health rights, you re limiting a women s capabilities as a woman. With sexist thoughts, a woman s rights can easily be violated with stereotypical thoughts and

Because of the complication of the multiple stages in the production of a good or service, only the final value of a good or service is included in the total output. This avoids an issue often called double counting , wherein the total value of a good is included several times in national output, by counting it repeatedly in several stages of production. In the example of meat production, the value of the good from the farm may be $10, then $30 from the butchers, and then $60 from the supermarket. The value that should be included in final national output should be $60, not the sum of all those numbers, $90. The values added at each stage of production over the previous stage are respectively $10, $20, and $30. Their sum gives an alternative way of calculating the value of final output. All of the large corporations could not have grown to their present size without being able to find innovative ways to raise capital to finance ultimate expansion. There are many ways this can be accomplished, but this review will take a look at just two ways: the issuance of Preferred Stock and selling of Common Stock. What exactly is a stock, anyway? In contrast to a Common Stock, a company may choose to issue Preferred Stock to raise capital. Preferred Stock represents a hybrid in the sense that it is an equity interest with certain features resembling debt. Buyers of these shares have special status in the event the underlying company encounters financial trouble. A typical preferred shareholder doesn t vote on the composition of the company s board or other matters. They are more interested in receiving regular dividends, since these dividends do not fluctuate based on the company s profits; each preferred shareholder is entitled to a fixed amount at certain periods, just so long as the company has the money to do so. Dividends are, also, paid to preferred stockholders before they are paid to common stockholders. Preferred stock is issued with a specific dividend rate. The dividend rate may be stated as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the par value. When dividends are paid, preferred stockholders are paid the amount applicable to their class of preferred stock. Several advantages to issuing preferred stock include: no dilution of management s interest in corporate growth or in voting power (if non voting preferred stock is issued), and predictable dividend payments and preferences upon liquidation (for which investors may pay a premium). Although, disadvantages include: a

  • 42. Essay Perception of God and Evil by Augustine of Hippo Augustine of Hippo (354 430) is among the most influential thinkers in Christianity. He contributed a great number of ideas and notions to Christian theology that would have lasting effect on belief systems in Christian churches. One of his most notable contributions is the notion of original sin and his concept of evil. These notions evolved over the years. Augustine traces their evolution in his Confessions, a thirteen volume autobiography he wrote when he was in his forties. An essential part of Confessions is Augustine s conversion to Christianity and his evolving understanding of good and evil. Significantly, Manichaeism perceives of God and his evil antagonist, Satan, as being restricted to the world. This notion appealed to the young Augustine, as he struggled to comprehend how anything like evil could exist. He seek out Neoplatonic books only to conclude that it shares similar Manichean teaching where evil represents physical matters like the body. However, Neoplatonism helped him realize a new understanding of God existing in an intelligible realm. After his conversion to Christianity, Augustine came to think of God not just as a spiritual being but also sovereign over all beings, which is a clear rejection of the Manichaeistic worldview. The lyrics to Carman s The Champion sum up Augustine s notion of God quite nicely, when they state, Of the war between the lord of sin and death, And the Omnipotent Creator of man s first breath, Who will decide who will forever be the Champion ( The Champion second stanza). God is according to Augustine the single sovereign, who rules over everything, even the evil forces in the universe. This sovereignty is grounded in Augustine s understanding that God created everything. This assumption ultimately solves the question why evil exists. It exists because God created it, just like he created everything else. Augustine suggests that everything God creates in inherently good. However, creatures can become evil because they are prone to corruption (Mann 44). Furthermore, rational beings have

Following the Portuguese came the Dutch, the Danes, the Swedes, the Prussians, and the British. Commerce in gold gave way to the slave trade until the latter was outlawed by Great Britain in 1807. The 19th century brought a gradual adjustment to legitimate trade, the withdrawal of all European powers except the British, and many wars involving the Ashanti, who had welded themselves into a powerful military confederacy; their position as the principal captors of slaves for European traders had brought them into conflict with the coastal tribes. British troops fought seven wars with the Ashanti from 1806 to 1901, when their kingdom was annexed by the British crown.(Encyclopedia, 2007) Amada (2010) stated that Ghana s history prior to the 15th century is concentrated primarily on oral traditions, however it is believed that people may have inhabited what is present day Ghana from about 1500 B.C.E.
