Pros And Cons Of Case Studies
1. Study Background a. Pros and Cons of Case Studies Case studies, whilst a very simple way of
performing studies, have multiple pros alongside the cons. Firstly, due to the simplicity of the study
design (i.e. simple picking apart one case study rather than needing to collect data from multiple
sources about multiple patients), complex concepts are usually simplified greatly.1 It erases the need
to collect data that would be needed for other study designs for more complex patients and situations.
In more complex or rarer cases, it may take a long time to collect this data. This means that case
studies ensure documentation and discussion surrounding rare conditions and cases. They also mean
that the teaching or study is based around real life situations as opposed to learning from how patients
are supposed to present. It is a good way to show that not everybody follows the textbook norm of
disease presentation and progression.2 Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if
you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to
stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if
the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a
different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and
management protocols. Data collected from case studies is normally much more in depth that

Ethnic Demonstrations Of Indonesi The Toraja
There are numerous ethnic gatherings in Indonesia .One of them is the Toraja in South Sulawesi .The
word Toraja originates from the bugis dialect to raja significance meaning individuals of the uplands
(Klass et al,1999:45).This name occurred when the Dutch provincial government named them .In
toraja there is still religion called aluk todolo this runs nearby muslim and Christianity .In this article I
will inspect the torajan rituals and customs around myth, death and ancestor worship.
Toraja is roughly 3,180 square kilometers, initially intensely forested, has been changed by
development. The couple of remaining woods spread slants unacceptable for development. The main
method for subsistence is farming. Rice, cassava, and maize are the staples; espresso and cloves are
the vital money crops. (Bigalke,1981;13)Creature cultivation is practiced on a vast scale, however just
the rearing of pigs is of financial significance. The bison, a grown up toy, is once in a while utilised
for function as a part of the fields. The creature has principally a ritualised function, for the prevalent
kind of death feast requires many buffalo
The autochthonous religion of the Toraja is called Aluk To Dolo to dolo actually implies that is,
conviction of the old, or customs of the precursors. (Chambert et al 2002:117)In this religion,
precursor clique, myth, and custom are entwined. Amid therituals, the to minaa, a minister

Monosaccharides Lab Report
Experimental Purpose: In this lab we are testing for monosaccharides disaccharides and
polysaccharides. Monosaccharides are directly related to the tongues recognition of sweet things. This
saccharides are very simple which allows your tongue to taste them. Disaccharides and
polysaccharides on the other hand are too complicated for our tongues to pick up the sweet taste. All
these saccharides are made of the same thing. Mono means one. Poly means many. These saccharides
play a big role in our ability to taste. During our experiment we also used to chemical solutions. Iodine

color. If the solution did change color to a more yellow, orange, brick red color, it is positive for the

solutions. Responding variable: Whether the solution has monosaccharides, disaccharides or
polysaccharides. Controlled variable: Same water temperature, same amount of water in beaker, same
amount of the water in your solution, same amount of the benedicts and/or iodine added to the test
tube per test. Experimental control: The color change of the solution caused by the benedicts or iodine
solutions added to the mixture. Validity measurements: Our experiment results are very reliable. After
every trial we always clean out the test tubes. And before we start our experiment we always set the
hot plate to high. Results: As a result when we tested the tomato samples it was negative for the iodine
test and positive for the Benedix test. This means that my hypothesis was correct and that tomatoes do
contain monosaccharides. Sample Iodine Test Benedict s Test Tomato Negative

White Lies In African American Literature
One similarity in all of the African American literature read this semester is this one fact. White people
lie. Granted, everyone lies. In these particular literacy works, however, the main characters white
counterparts seemed to have done the most fibbing to put it lightly. From this habit of lying, most
forms of African American literature have been effected, from early literary documents written by
African Americans that have been altered by white editors to lies told by white people in the actual
story written by African Americans. This paper will take a look at examples of incidents in which
these lies occurred, and also discuss these lies told by whites and how they effected African Americans
individually as well as a whole. This first example of the type of lies told by white people effected the
earlier African American literary authors. They fell victim to these white lies in terms of their freedom
of what they could and could not write. One example is that of Briton Hammon in his literary tale
entitled A Narrative of Uncommon Sufferings. In his piece, he recalls different event he had
experienced. One of these events was an encounter with a group of Indians. He noted them as savages
which is very similar to how white people of this time period addresses the matter of Indians. This
simple metaphor led some to believe this literary work of Briton Hammon was, indeed, heavily edited
by a white editor. As a whole, different events throughout the story

The Potential Market Opportunities For Lagunitas Brewing...
The potential market opportunities for Lagunitas Brewing Company (LBC) are:
1. Growth of craft brewed beer market The craft brewing segment of the beer industry has experience
fluctuations in demand from a high of 58% growth in 1995 to a decline of 5% annually from 1997 to
2003 (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). However, it is now experiencing rapid growth. At the
commencement of 2012, 6.5% of U.S. beer sales were generated by craft brewers and that number
increased by 15% by the conclusion of the year (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). The growth of the
market presents LBC with an opportunity to generate additional revenue.
2. Utilize additional forms of marketing Word of mouth and quality products are the basis of
Lagunitas Brewing Company s marketing approach (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). The company also
sponsors touring bands by providing beer and gasoline and donates its beer to festivals and events
primarily involving music (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 97 99). However, it does not employ traditional
marketing, minimal pricing incentives, and push marketing techniques (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99).
While the company had revenue growth of 46% in 2010 and 60% in the first two quarters of 2011
using this strategy, other marketing techniques such as advertising or digital marketing for example,
can provide LBC the opportunity to increase brand awareness. In the case of digital marketing, the
company has the prospect of reaching more Millennials as they are avid

Tenochtitlan Empires
Throughout human history, people have come together to form small, independent city states or large,
expanding empires. From the Egyptian Empire in the 16th century BC to the British Empire in the
19th century AD, humankind has seen large and small empires rise and fall. Some empires have been
more conventional to the Western understanding, such as the Roman Empire where there was a central
capital that had direct control over other territories in which it conquered. Other empires consisted of a
more complex system, like the Aztec Empire which consisted of a capital, Tenochtitlan, but had very
loose control over its conquered territories. The Aztec Empire and Tenochtitlan rested upon as very

social organization, and military conquests developed because of the Aztec Empire. The Aztec Empire
however, eventually fell because of its flaws within the empire like the lack of fast travel and the lack

The point of the book Ender s Game is to send highly intelligent children to fight for the military, and
ultimately save the Earth from another alien invasion. These children are different from regular Earth
children. They are physically the same, but they are gifted and more mature than children of the same
age. The main character of this book is Ender Wiggin, and he is the third in his family to be selected
by the military. Compared to normal children on earth, there is not a huge difference, they are both
human and live there lives normally.

Call Of The Wild Conflict Analysis
In the novel Call of the Wild, Buck, the protagonist struggles with the constant duality between his
Love of a Man and his pull towards savagery. The civilization that greeted Buck in the Santa Clara
Valley was one that was based on Southern Hospitality, but the savagery that slowly ripped and
consumed Buck was one of an unforgiving nature, destroying anyone or anything that was unfortunate
enough to see it. One major confliction Buck battles with is his Love of a Man while he is in the
presence of civilization. In the beginning of the novel, while Buck is still on Judge Miller s place,
London states, His father, a huge Saint Bernard, had been the judge s inseparable companion, and
Buck bid fair to follow in the way of his father (12). Buck enjoyed being in the company of the Judge
s family and was comfortable in the ways of civilization. On page 23, the novel states, Francois s whip
snapped less frequently, and Perrault even honored Buck by lifting up his feet and carefully examining
them. When Perrault did this, it made Buck feel that love of a man that he strives for. Later in the
novel, John Thornton saved Buck from his previous owners Hal, Charles, and Mercedes, and took care
of Buck until his wounds healed and he regained his strength. But love that was feverish and burning,
that was adoration, that was madness,it had taken John Thornton to arouse (58). Buck had never
experienced true love for a man, all his previous relationships had been of a business

Lady Macbeth Play Analysis
In the play Macbeth , Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth s imaginary changed drastically over the
course of the play. Macbeth started out with a conscious, he definitely knew right from wrong unlike
his wife who had no conscious at all, having no shame in any of the actions she under took during the
first act of the play especially. Over time Macbeth lost his mind and therefore his actions and thoughts
began to become foul, wicked and unholy. The opposite from Macbeth was Lady Lady Macbeth who
gained a conscious as well as a heart and she realised her wrong doings and felt extraordinary guilt.
At the beginning of the play, Lady Macbeth was presented to us as evil and a woman who was strong
and ruthless. She was also the dominant person in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

death of Duncan got to her heart and allowed her to realise her wrong doings as she was possessed by
culpability. It reminded her of the sorrow of when her father died. Surprising the audience, Lady
Macbeth s personality and persona during act two has beyond changed.
Act three drastically changed the dynamic of the play. At the start of the play in the first act Lady
Macbeth was the most dominant one out of Macbeth and herself Are you a man? (Act 3, Scene 4,
Lines 58) Though through to act three she is now perceived as the weaker one. Macbeth now has
power over her. Be innocent of the knowledge, dearest chuck, till thou applaud the deed (Act 3 Scene

became vulnerable in her own sorrow and has allowed Macbeth to be dominant upon her. Her

The Lee Strasberg Film And Theatre Institute
Method acting is often misinterpreted as an acting exercise where the actor becomes the character, and
keeps the persona of that character until they have completed their work. This misguided thinking has
been promoted by pop culture and even sometimes by actors themselves. The Lee Strasberg Film
Theatre Institute defines the Method as when actors use their imagination, sense and emotion to
conceive characters with unique and original behavior, creating performances grounded in the human
truth of the moment. This definition focuses more on the relationship between the actor and their
character, rather than both being one and the same. Method acting is not a new idea. It is thought to

in Brody) Actors are constantly searching for the truth behind these moments, and then use this truth
to tell the story of their character. When the truth is found, and then executed well, the actor has
reached their goal. At the end of the entire process, the actor s goal is simple: tell the story with as
much truth as possible. This is where Method acting comes into play as a way to connect to the truth,
and to translate the truth for the actor s audience. Another actor who greatly benefitted from the
Method is Marlon Brando. He is widely believed to be one of the most influential actors ever, and
turned going to the movies into a psychological experience. For some of his most famous roles in
movies such as A Streetcar Named Desire, The Godfather, and Julius Caesar, Brando utilized his own
personal emotional history to accurately portray his characters. (Thomson) An interesting aspect of the
Method that tends to be looked over, is the fact that it is actually considered to be a very masculine
and American way of acting. Few female actors have been famously successful with Method acting.
The Method is preferred by some actors because they believe it to be a more sincere way of conveying
the truth of a character and story. These actors are considered to be extremely dedicated to their craft,
since they are so willing

Asperger s Development And Social Behavior
Asperger s appeared first in the diagnostic manual of the American Psychiatric Association in 1994,
50 years after the symptoms of the disorder were described by Austrian doctor Hans Asperger. In
2013, Asperger s was replaced with the new term, Autism Spectrum Disorder (Delfos 2005). Many
people continue to use the older name. This replacement was the result of significant discussion within
the professional community as to whether Asperger s Syndrome constituted a distinct mental disorder
or whether it was a form of autism. Asperger s can be examined through many theoretical beliefs.
However, Vygotsky s sociocultural theory will be applied and used to analyze how a child with
Asperger s is affected through language development and social behavior.
Today Asperger s Syndrome is still widely known as an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Individuals
diagnosed with this disorder are generally considered to be on the high functioning end of the autism
spectrum. Children and adults diagnosed with this disorder generally have difficulty with social
interactions and exhibit a restricted range of interests and or repetitive behaviors (Delfos 2005). The
main difference between the two is thought to be in language development. Those individuals
diagnosed with Asperger s Syndrome typically will not have had delayed language development when
younger. Conversely, those with other forms of autism may evidence delays in language development
and greater difficulty in communication.

Camille Paglia s Rape and the Modern Sex War Essay
Camille Paglia s Rape and the Modern Sex War
Camille Paglia writes the article, Rape and the Modern Sex War, which is about young women being
vulnerable in today s society against rape and how feminism has mistakenly led women to believe that
they aren t in any danger. Paglia states her opinion to women because she believes that women are
vulnerable and should be aware of the pervasiveness of rape (83) all the time. Rape has been around
for hundreds of years and the effects it has on women are life long terrifying memories. Paglia speaks
to women saying that they should be ready for these situations and not be with a group of guys alone,
always be with other girlfriends, and learn to take feminism out of the picture and realize ... Show

Running to a certain authority is not the definition of a strong woman, says Paglia referring to her
Italian philosophy that existence brings about confrontation (84). She wants women to stand up for
themselves and when a man makes a rude remark about a women s sexuality they should deal with it
then and there. Paglia uses an example from the movie Where the Boys Are when talking about
feminism because the movie takes place in 1960 and is about women anticipating and defending
themselves against horny men. It s victim is lured into a room full of guys not seeing what is about to
happen and says that actions are often not perceived correctly and this is where the different
sexualities are noticed (84). This point can be argued because the media blows things out of
proportion and this evidence isn t really evidence because it 3 lacks reality and is an opinion of Paglia
s. Paglia s final assumption in her essay is geared toward both sexes and how we must prevent rape as
a society. Men and women must come to certain identities, which are somewhat similar but are easily
distinguished according to Paglia in my point of view. When a man has sex with a girl it is said that he
is entering manhood. When a woman menstruates she is becoming a real woman and she wants
women to know

The Discovery Of The Staircase
Humans are instinctually curious animals due to their frontal lobe, which causes higher thinking and a
desire for knowledge. The desire for knowledge and higher thinking often leads people to travel due to
the possibility to gain new experiences and discover something new. The mystery behind certain
iconic tourist sights that are brought to light through photography often intrigues and sparks curiosity
in humans with the promise of new knowledge and discovery. The Miraculous Staircase of Saint
Joseph in the Chapel of Loretto in Santa Fe, New Mexico offers mystery through the unknown and
unexplainable questions that have risen throughout the years regarding the stair cases history and
religious background. The mixture between the unanswered questions concerning the history of the
staircase and its baffling architecture captured through photography throughout the years cause the
stair case to be a focal point of many curious tourist minds in Santa Fe. The Chapel of Loretto was
finished in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1878. The chapel was beautiful, but it was missing a way to
access the choir loft that was twenty two feet up. Upset by this, the nuns of the chapel prayed to Saint
Joseph the Master Carpenter (Helix to Heaven). According to sources, on the ninth day of the sisters
praying a stranger showed up with a donkey and carpentry tools to help with the predicament. He built
the beautiful helical staircase that still stands today in a bout six months, and then vanished before

The Theory Of Regression Results
DESCRPTION OF REGRESSION RESULTS
In order to empirically examine the extent to which changes in price causes changes in broiler
(chicken) consumption, time series data was collected on 40 observations extending from 1960 to
1999 on nine explanatory variables in total. I regressed this data using an Ordinary Least Squares
(OLS) approach. The main explanatory variable used for my analysis was the consumer price index
(CPI) for whole fresh chicken with the base years denoted as the 1982 to 1984 time period. The
econometric model for my regression analysis is listed below:
Broiler Consumption = a+β_(1 ) (CPI of broilers)+ β_2 (income)+ β_3 (population)+β_(4 ) (CPI for
beef)+β_(5 ) (PPI for corn)+ β_(6 ) (NPI for broiler feed)+β_7 (CPI)+β_8 (AP of Broilers)+β_9
(population)+β_(10 ) (exports of beef,veal and pork)+ ε
Data regarding my dependent variable was originally collected as pounds consumed per capita.
However, I multiplied the per capita broiler consumption data by 100,000 to obtain broiler
consumption in pounds per 100,000 people. In this way, I was able to obtain a larger coefficient on a
few of the variables, which allowed for a more suitable display and discussion of the results in the
paper. Further, the objective of this analysis was to explain to what extent price of broilers (CPI on
whole fresh chicken) impacts broiler consumption in pounds. Specifically, the coefficients on the
explanatory variables illustrate their respective effects on the number

brewers to business and hotel targets. Since then, GMCR has created at home and travel Keurig
brewers at lower prices along with a new vending program that allows them to target commercial and
manufacturing environments (GMCR, Annual Report, 2009). With its transition into the growth stage,
GMCR has promoted its products primarily by expanding into new retail stores such as Walmart,

The gas giving off from the space shuttles break up the molecules of the ozone layer (Rastogi, 2009).
Decreasing the molecules that make up the ozone layer has a direct impact of climate change
specifically global warming. The space shuttles and rockets give off the gases into the middle and
upper troposphere of the atmosphere which causes the breakup of the ozone rapidly. Professor Darin
Toohey of CU Boulder s atmospheric and oceanic sciences department who research the relationship
between NASA s space missions and the ozone layer stated, If left unregulated, rocket launches by the
year 2050 could result in more ozone destruction than was ever realized by CFCs, (Toohey,2009). The
aluminum oxide that is emitted from space shuttles contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer by
producing chemical surface active areas (Toohey,2009). There is no absolute guarantee benefit from

will decrease the environmental issues that are caused by launching space shuttles into space.

Berger s Views On The Dialectic Character Of Society
1. I think the dialectic character of society refers to the mentality that individuals have about the
reality of the way the society is functioning. Berger mentions how this character is blind, and how it
needs to be addressed so that individuals will observe actual reality (Berger 4). Due to a variety of
cultures within society, the dialectic reality is still being disputed. Man has his own thought process,
but people are told only to believe what society has shown us. Man created society, but society did not
create man. However, man is often viewed as a product of society because this is our everyday reality.
2. According to Berger, the three steps that constitute the process of world building are externalization,
objectivation, and internalization. Externalization is man interacting with society being an essential
step so that he can develop. Objectivation is man continuing to shape society by developing new
things in it that help shape culture, for existence: language. Internalization is man using the structures
of the objective world to help form his own thoughts and opinions. These all maintain a stable society
with a similar reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nomos a meaningful order (Berger 19). Nomos is society establishing order for individuals. This
brings the people closer together because they are required to know the rules that they must follow.
Anomy radical separation from the social world (Berger 21). Anomy is a concern for most individuals

Amelia s Grief In The Babadody
The Babadook is an Australian made film created, and directed by Jennifer Kent. The film was
released in two thousand fourteen, and rated a seven out of ten by movie critics. The Babadook
follows single parent, Amelia, who loses her husband in a car accident at the beginning of the movie
on the way to give birth to their son Samuel. Amelia and Samuel are both struggling to cope with his
death. Samuel has begun to misbehave in school, and has discovered an imaginary monster friend
whom is quite often troublesome. One night Amelia reads Samuel a nighttime story named Mister
Babadook. Every since they read the book, it seems as if the monster has come alive, and mysterious
things have been happening to the two of them. The Babadook has started to inhibit Amelia and
Samuels lives. Depression manipulates people s lives, and in this film, The Babadook symbolizes a
living form of Amelia s grief due to her husband s death.
The Babadook is a metaphor for the Amelia s grief, therefore making it a monster. Grief in the
instance of Amelia s life represents a nontraditional monster. Grief is not literally a monster, but at the
same time it is because it is very scary, makes you uncomfortable, and hard to get away from. It is
almost impossible for a person to escape grief because it is a natural response to any situation that
makes you feel miserable. When grief first took over Amelia, it caused her to do bizarre things. First,
she started talking down on Samuel, and treating him

Hamlet And Religion Essay
The Religion of Shakespeare
When studying the plays of Shakespeare, primarily Hamlet, it is easy to see Shakespeare had a deep
respect and understanding of Christianity. During the 1600 s, the time in which Hamlet was created,
Christianity was split into two main religious groups. One of these groups was Catholicism, which
was discriminated against, and the other Protestantism. Protestants were the group of Christians
created when the Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman
Catholic Church. Those individuals protested the rule of the Catholic Church, hence being called
Protestants. During this time period, in hopes of deterring the return of the Catholic Church and it s
rule of England, Catholicism was, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet includes thoughts on mortality, the afterlife, suicide, and the consequences of an individual s
actions. Hamlet mulls over the idea of suicide in his To be or not to be soliloquy. As he cannot be
certain what will happen to his spirit after death, he does not follow through with this thought. In the
Christian religion it is understood only God can give and take life. And said, Naked came I out of my
mother s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord taketh away: blessed be
the name of the Lord. (KJV Job 1:21). Suicide is ungodly to Christian s because it rejects God s gift of
life. This concern with the destination of one s spirit shows Hamlet to be aware and concerned for his
spirit (soul). Shakespeare adding this inner conflict inside Hamlet s mind immensely deepens the
character. It also shows that, as a writer, Shakespeare understands completely that an internal conflict
can add as much satisfying drama to a piece as external conflict between characters. Shakespeare
including the very human idea of thinking and worrying about what happens after death makes Hamlet
seem as real as any individual you pass by on a daily

Copyright And Its Developments, Emphasis On Moral Rights
Copyright and its Developments, emphasis on moral rights The Law of Copyright and its historical
development Tracing back the historical development of copyright protection of the authors work, the
idea of copyright protection only began to emerge with the invention of printing, which made it
possible for the literary works to be duplicated by mechanical processes. Prior to that, hand copying
was the sole mean of reproduction. Following Gutenberg s invention of printing press in 1436 in
Germany, the necessity of protecting printers and booksellers was recognized there. Consequently,
German Principalities granted certain privileges to printers and publishers and also authors. The art of
printing spread quickly in Europe, King Richard Ill in 1483 allowed foreigners to import manuscripts
and books into England and print them there. As a result of this, much of the book trade came in the
hands of foreigners. However, this freedom enabled England to emerge as a major center of printing
trade in Europe. The spread of technological innovation led to creation of a class of intermediaries
who made the initial investment in bringing out a book i.e. printers who at the same time also
functioned as booksellers. They were called Stationers in England . In 1523 and 1528, restrictions
were introduced by Henry V Ill, prohibiting the importation of books altogether in 1533 on the ground
that there were enough printers and book binders in England. In 1529, a system of privileges was

Mrs. Reed Interview
The information outlined below was obtained during an interview with Mrs. Reed, a separate
interview with her husband, and previous medical records. Mrs. Reed is a 27 year old, right handed
female with a previous diagnosis of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder obtained in 2013. The triggering
event that led to the diagnosis was a strangulation attempt by a previous partner. Additionally, Mrs.
Reed grew up in a home with family violence. The patient reports difficulty sleeping, high levels of
anxiety, and problems with memory and concentration. Her husband reports that there will be days on

Apart from these two main diagnosis , Mrs. Reed appears relatively healthy. Unless she can
incorporate more sleep and lower her stress levels, further cognitive deficits will most likely appear.
Caffeine should be excluded from her diet, as caffeine may increase her anxiety. Furthermore, Mrs.
Reed should focus on developing better sleep hygiene. She should work on a nightmare protocol with
her psychologist to decrease nightmares, avoid eating or exercising within several hours of bedtime,
and leave all electronic devices outside of the bedroom. It may also be beneficial to incorporate some
light stretching, yoga, or meditation before bed. By decreasing her sleep deficit, Mrs. Reed s cognitive
function will likely increase, especially in regards to concentration and memory. It may also be
beneficial to prioritize her work daily, in order to ensure completion of the most necessary tasks.
Furthermore, it is imperative to monitor her cardiac functioning as she has a high family history of
cardiovascular disease, and stress only exacerbates this condition more. A cardiologist, a psychologist,
and a psychiatrist should be met with on a regular basis to monitor her condition and watch for any
further decline. Given her relatively high levels of anxiety, Mrs. Reed may benefit from daily
meditation and continuous exercise. This evaluation can serve as a baseline for her neuropsychological
functioning, but further monitoring is recommended. Thank you very much for referring Mrs. Reed to
me. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me

Examples Of Irony In The Witch Of Blackbird Pond
Have you ever felt judged, excluded, scared? Have you ever stood up for someone who was judged or
excluded? Elizabeth George Speare bring to the table a extravagant novel The Witch of Blackbird
Pond that includes both scenerios in a late 1600 s setting. A elderly woman named Hannah Witch
Turper is excluded by townspeople for being different and a quaker. A young woman named Kathryn
Tyler Kit moves to Wethersfield Connecticut to live with her aunt and uncle. Kathryn Kit Tyler meets

Application Of A Desktop Study
Desktop Study
A desktop study, as its name implies, can be done entirely from a computer and is often the first step
in preliminary site investigations. The process of a desktop study involves correlating background
information about the site that will affect the design and construction; from a desk study a large
amount of relevant information can be gathered, such as: local context (i.e. what is near to the site, the
aesthetic of the surrounding buildings); archaeology (beneath the surface of a site there may be
unexploded bombs, remnants of old structures etc.); easements (the rights attached to neighbouring
lands, for example right to light); the likelihood of contaminated soil (which we know we do have on
our site); site ecology (the surrounding environment and how it coexists together). Having this
knowledge of the site before any work has begun allows for easier planning later as obstacles that
could have been a costly surprise later can be solved with much better efficiency.
The process of a desktop study could also involve looking at OS (ordnance survey) maps of the site
which can reveal the previous usage of the site as well as drainage and much more. Geological maps
can show what the ground conditions are like on site and if there is any risk of, for example,
subsidence occurring or if it already has. Service maps can be inspected to find hidden services, for
example telephone cables or drainage. The findings of previous surveys, if they exist, can also be

Essay about Fiddler on the Roof
The musical called Fiddler on the Roof was set in Anatefka, Russia around 1880 1900. During this
time, in this small town, held Tevya and his family. Tevya, husband and father of five daughters, is a
cynical, obstinate, determined, yet sensitive to feelings, and caring man. He is a clever philosopher
and sticks very much to tradition. In the story
Tevya says Anatefka is our home...to keep in balance by tradition...
This explains the title which is personally understood that through
Tevya s eyes, without tradition, life would be as a fiddler on a roof, unbalanced. This story,
demonstrates the precarious lives of the
Russian Jews of the late 19th century. The main character, Tevya, compares their lives to that of a

cons. When Tevya does accept, he tells his wife and runs as if not to get scolded.
The third eldest daughter Chava had a guy in mind also. The only problem was that this guy Fyedka
was a Russian Gentile, not a
Jew. When Tevya noticed that, he could definitely not have that at all. Tevya at first would not give
them his blessing, which would break too much tradition, in Tevyas eyes at that time he only saw four
daughters. In the end of the musical, the whole village was forced to leave by the Cossaks at the Tzars
command. Things still went well with the family leaving because they were leaving to begin a new
life in
America with hope. Tevya was eventually reconciled the fact that there was nothing wrong with a
marriage that wasn t arranged by the families and also outside religion. Throughout the story, the
concept of changing times is brought up. Tevya accepts that times and traditions are changing, his
daughters are grown up and in love, and he accepts the marriages which shows the first step of
accepting these changes. As the Tevya says, with everybody knowing their place in the order of life,

Arguments Against Vaccination
Vaccinations occurs when a health provider purposefully administer a virus or a bacteria into the body
through injections. Vaccines only contain a small amount of weakened virus. This procedure gets done
in order to prepare the bodies immune system for future infections. The immune system can recognize
the virus and determine the right tactic to destroy it, before it takes a toll on the body. Exposing the
body to a virus can potentially save it from getting harmed from diseases like the whooping cough,
chickenpox, influenza, polio, and many more life threatening illnesses. Even with the minor and
infrequent side effects from vaccinations, several parents refrain from vaccinating their children. They
do not want to put their children s lives at risk and would rather take the chance with the diseases that
may occur without the proper vaccinations. The negative effects of vaccinations are simply too risky

Several religions protest against vaccinations due to the fact that it violates the belief systems of their
respective religions. For the Christian religion, they disapprove vaccinations because the founder of
vaccines, Mary Baker Eddy, once stated that the calm Christian mind is a better preventative of
contagion than a drug, or than any other possible sanative method (Should Any Vaccines Be Required
for Children?). Obviously, this blasphemy angered many faithful Christians and began to believe that
vaccinations are unholy. Similarly, the Amish community do not believe in the use of vaccinations.
Ordinarily, the Amish community live a quaint lifestyle without any technology or advanced medicine.
So, vaccinations are out of the question as well. The Amish community even believe that vaccinations
actually weaken the immune system. The religious rights of these communities give reason for parents

Argumentative Essay On Cults
Cults have been around since the beginning of civilization and today there are thousands of cults
around the world. Cults vary in ideas and beliefs, whether it be political, scientific, or focused on self
development. The majority of cults claim to have the answer to life s biggest, toughest questions and,
use this to their advantage. They target people with loneliness or, people who look to fill a void in
their life. Cults across time have consistently shown that the power of manipulation can empower a
group and lead them to commit even the craziest of acts like mass suicide and murder. While we
associate cults with violence, cults are formed on a religious type basis that maintains its followers

The Unequal Opportunity For Receive Treatment
The unequal opportunity to receive treatment
Jonathan K. Burns (2009) emphasized the findings of a community survey that indicated that
Americans do not have equal opportunity to receive proper mental health care treatment. (Burns,
2009) A community survey in the US (a high income country), for example, reported that low income
individuals cited financial barriers to accessing care. However, this was not the case in the
Netherlands or in Canada, both HICs, where economic disparities and income inequality are lower.
Also in the US, a house hold survey of adolescents found that those of low income status reported far
more structural barriers to accessing mental health services than did their middle and high income
counterparts. (Burns, 2009: 23) Victoria Ojeda and Sara Bergstress (2008) conducted a research study
by administering surveys to measure the perceptions and attitudes of participants who indicated that
they needed mental health care treatment and were not receiving it. 44.5% of participants indicated
that finances were a barrier as to why they were not receiving mental health care treatment. (Ojeda,
Bergstress, 2008) Charles Zastrow (2014) expressed that studies have shown that when one has a
mental illness, they tend to face financial difficulties due to their illness as it results in a lowered social
status and decrease in earning power (Zastrow: 2014: 159) Social class also dictates the quality of

A Political Campaign Analysis
The political campaign environment in the United States changed in 2010 with the allowance of
unlimited independent expenditures by outside entities in elections. The courts decisions in Citizens
United and SpeechNow.org further increases Americans concerns regarding an undue influence of
money in politics. This, coupled with increasing polarization and congressional gridlock in the U.S.
House of Representatives, promotes skepticism of the political process. Polarization and gridlock
create perceptions that representatives do not represent the average voter preferences but represent big
moneyed interests (Briffault, 2011; Gilbert and Aiken, 2015) and donors, who are more ideologically
extreme than the average voter (Barber, 2014). Given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

electoral conflict and promote a greater rallying effect around ideological partisan leanings of
particular candidacies. This diminishes the representation for the average constituents, median voters,

Gun Ownership And Crime Essay
The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of gun ownership on crime rates within a
population. In the United states Gun ownership is at an all time low. The percent of households
owning one or more guns went from 42 percent in 1993 down to 31 percent in 2014 (Smith Son,

According to the UCR (2010), from 1993 to 2012 violent crime rates per 100,000 have gone from
747.1 to a low of 747.1. While correlation does not equal causation and there are far too many

have changed in accordance with laws that have been passed. A comparison will also be taken at
places with the most lenient gun laws to contrast crime rates. The hypothesis of this paper is when gun
ownership of law abiding citizens exceeds that of criminals, both violent and non violent crimes

Marketing Plan For Whole Foods Essay
Thirty six years ago John Mackey started a grocery store based on his vision of a business that
provides customers only natural foods. Based on a simple but effective business model, Whole Foods
has grown to a position of market leadership that is now being challenged by low cost organic sellers.
According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foods continues to face challenges from
competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The company s
differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been successfully
emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016) noted that the
company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away to other low
priced organic food competitors.
Whole Foods needs to reduce prices due to the new competitive landscape. Since the grocery industry
runs on very low profit margins, in order to reduce prices the company needs to reduce costs. Whole
Foods can leverage its size along with the company s value proposition of working with local farmers
to develop more efficient collaborative networks. The creation of partnerships in integrated networks
opens up opportunities to take advantage of complementary costs structures, the respective partner s
technical expertise, market knowledge and brand equity (reputation) (Swink, Melnyk, Cooper,
Hartley,2014, p.11). The purpose of this paper is to offer recommendations to

The Relevance of Fair Use Doctrine in the Digital World
Abstract. Different proposals have been made to restrict the fair use exception in a digital context.
Digitization provides tools to detect private digital copying of a protected work and to limit it. This
may allow title holders to prevent practices that have been important for educational and scholarly
purposes. Given the power conferred by the technology, fair use exceptions established by the law
may become inapplicable and substantially affect access to information, particularly in developing
countries. The protection of databases, as established or proposed in some jurisdictions, may
aggravate this problem. The development of new principles for the application in this context of fair
use needs to be considered, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that reason, the fair use doctrine consistently creates difficult issues for you and your clients. It is
ironic, then, that fair use is the copyright issue most likely to confront an average copyright user. Fair
use issues arise in a wide variety of everyday contexts, including the classroom, the boardroom, the
record industry, the theater, and the movie industry. Typical fair use conflicts likely to arise in practice
include: copying for educational purposes both in the classroom and the boardroom ; quoting from
copyrighted sources in reporting, reviews, and scholarly research ; uploading or downloading
copyrighted material to or from a website; sampling copyrighted material in sound recordings or
including copyrighted material as scenery in a motion picture or theater set; and use of copyrighted
material in a parody. 3. Basis of the fair use doctrine The fair use doctrine creates a limited privilege in
those other than the owner of a copyright to use the copyrighted material in a reasonable manner
without the owner s consent. It permits unauthorized uses that otherwise would constitute
infringement but are deemed noninfringing because they advance the underlying constitutional
purpose of copyright law: to promote broad public availability of literature, music, and other forms of
creative arts. The constitutional principle

participate in fields requires forms of cultural resources, or capital that are specific to the various
fields. The distribution of such capitals is intrinsic to what defines a field. Therefore, a social location

West Drayton Mountain Bike Club Case Study
Specialized Concept Store Ruislip are proud to support West Drayton Mountain Bike Club, we are
often found riding with them, and enjoying their company both on two wheels, and in the pub
afterwards. West Drayton are a mixed ability group, and consider themselves very inclusive. They do
have racers (who ve got some great results over the years) but also they put the emphasis on fun. They
even welcome those on skinny wheels, and go out on slick rubber themselves sometimes! They ve
even planned a road trip to the Dolomites in mid September. Check out

Rioting Of The Stamp Act Of 1765
There are significant differences between the two days of rioting that took place after the passing of
the Stamp Act of 1765, by the British government. The first day of rioting, August 14, 1765, can easily
be linked to the passing of the Stamp Act, were it was proposed by the British Government for the
colonist to pay an extra tax on all the paper that they used. This first riot came about as a rebellion
against the implementation, and against the facilitators, of a tax that was seen unfair. The anger of the
colonist was clearly directed towards officials, exemplified by the leveling of what was supposed to be
the stamp building. The rioters then directing their anger towards the man who would be the stamp
distributor for the Massachusetts

Campaign Finance Research Paper
What Caused for the Reform of Campaign Finance? The reformers passed these provisions in
response to corruption, which culminated in Watergate 1972 presidential campaign (Wright, 1003).
The reformers found that these excesses were fueled by contributions collected for political gain.
Their goal was to protect the political process from distortion and corruption (Wright, 1003).
Money also caused for the reform of campaign finance. Money does facilitate communication of
political preferences and prejudice (Wright, 1004). It also does influence the outcome of elections. For
instance, the more money spent on behalf of the candidate gives the candidate a better chance of
winning the election. However, money could also lead to corruption because ... Show more content on

However, disclosure requirements are becoming more practical and favorable. As campaign finance
regimes transitions away from regulating which actors can spend money in elections, the central
policy and legal questions going forward will ask how much an actor may spend without triggering
contribution limits or disclosure requirements (Johnstone, 218). However, the traditional campaign
finance regime limits contributions and mandates disclosure by making it clear to individuals on
which contributions are prohibited or spending must be disclosed (Johnstone,

Boys vs. Girls
An Analysis of Katha Pollitt s Girls Against Boys? The article titled Girls Against Boys, published in
the 30 January issue of The Nation magazine by author Katha Pollitt, brings to light pressing issues of
gender discrimination and how this nation s education system has changed over the past forty years
but still isn t up to par with where it needs to be with issues of gender equality. Pollitt exposes the
views of conservatives toward feminism in the school systems of today. This article describes how
changes in society are taking place, and what the future may hold for men and women in the world of
employment and education. Pollitt begins with the mention of equal access admissions instituted in
1975 which leads into how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next sentence asks the question of whose idea was it to cut male friendly activities such as gym
and band, obviously pointing her finger at conservatives. The next paragraph starts off with a question
about the current dating scene and whether or not it consists of women who love fine art and men who
love video games; this implies that females are the educated ones in today s dating scene. Next Pollitt
focuses on the sexist nature of the labor market; describing how women need the credentials of a
college degree more than men and how stereotypically male jobs that pay well don t require a college
degree, furthermore showing that the scales have been tipped toward men more than women in today s
society. Pollitt says that Maybe boys focus less on school because they think they ll come out ahead.
The next statement in the article comes from Heather Boushey from the Center for Economic Policy
and Research where it is noted that female students take out more loans than male classmates. Pollitt
then says that this makes sense if a BA makes the difference between respectable well paying job and
a lifetime as a waitress or a file clerk. This is written to back up her earlier comment that boys can get
a well paying job today without an education while on the other hand women require a degree unless
they re willing to accept a low paying job because there aren t as many female friendly well paying
jobs in the job market that can be acquired with out a college

Chemotaxis Lab Report
Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For the
majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference between life
and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is not entirely
dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to activate. Within a
simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a complex behavior that is
mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to move muscles that move an
animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing these organisms on several plates
which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to
determine which genes are responsible for chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis
indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and
0.6981 for CEH 27. Overall, the results for CEH 27 are likely to show that there is a lack of genetic
interference with chemotaxis where CEH 36 is less definitive. Introduction Within C. Elegans, there
are three primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, once comparing the data to larger sample sizes, interfering with CEH 36 expression did not
have a role in chemotaxis instead the data showed an average of 0.5818. Therefore, more
experimentation will be necessary in order to determine the role CEH 36 plays in chemotaxis.
Acknowledgements I would like to say thank you to Courtney Cochran, my lab instructor and to the
UCSB Biology department for the time taken in order to ensure accurate results. Another round of
thanks goes to Emile Laroche, my lab partner who aided me in data collection and procedure.

Organic Foods And Organic Food
In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing a
report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. (Organic Debate, 2014) As organic
foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about whether or
not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic foods they are
having arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels. Although people think
that organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with there health and provides a
healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food buying behaviors
of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of motivating factors on both the attitude towards
organic foods and the intention to buy organic foods together with the mediation effect of attitude
towards organic foods (Cabuk, 2014).
People tend to argue on the fact of whether or not organic foods are good for them. According to Soley
s article it states that Organic foods are healthier for consumers, farmers, and the planet, says Cathy
Fichtner, category manager for chocolate, cocoa, caramel, Global Organics, Ltd. Organic production
reduces exposure to toxic and persistent chemicals in the foods we eat and for farm workers and their
families (Soley, 2015). By having this information published they are agreeing with the people who
are for Organic foods. Organic

Lies In Much Ado About Nothing
Lies are physiological decisions of the human brain to state or believe in a certain untrue event or
causation. Throughout human history, the action of lying seems to be present throughout the
chronological timeline of humans, 10,000BCE 2016CE,. It is believed that lying is a basic action of
humans that is displayed to affect the decision and behavior of another human. Much Ado About
Nothing by William Shakespeare is a play that displays lies through the foil characters Don John and
Don Pedro. The play is set in medieval Italy in postwar however the war had no effect on the common
people. The story is mainly about the characters Don John and Don Pedro, whom both lie to other
people in other to satisfy their desires. Don John and Don ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to people paying attention to a specific idea and not looking more broadly. Don Pedro is
the Prince of Arragon. He looks to improve the welfare of his friends with the desire of love. Mainly,
he desires to bring Benedick and Beatrice together whom were rivals. In order to do this, he lies to
accomplish what he wants. To improve his friend s welfare, Don Pedro claims, If she should make
tender of her love, tis very possible he ll scorn it; for the man... , (lll ,iii,28) in an attempt to persuade
Benedick that Beatrice loves him. This plan worked as Benedick voiced, by this day! she s fair lady: I
do spy some marks of love in her, (lll ,iii,29) believing in Don Pedro story. This clearly shows that
Benedick fell for Don Pedro plans by believing that Beatrice likes him. By Benedick announcing, I do
spy some marks of love in her, (lll ,iii,29)shows that he fell for Don Pedro s plan to bring Benedick to
love Beatrice. At that moment in the play there was no scent of love from Beatrice; clearly, Benedick
is illusioning the words of Don Pedro and falls in love with Beatrice because he thinks Beatrice loves
him. The idea that Beatrice loves(which is a lie) Benedick causes Benedick to fall in love because
realizes that being in love is superior than being a bachelor. Also ,another person the lied within the
play was Don Pedro brother, Don John. Don John is the

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Case Studies 1. Study Background a. Pros and Cons of Case Studies Case studies, whilst a very simple way of performing studies, have multiple pros alongside the cons. Firstly, due to the simplicity of the study design (i.e. simple picking apart one case study rather than needing to collect data from multiple sources about multiple patients), complex concepts are usually simplified greatly.1 It erases the need to collect data that would be needed for other study designs for more complex patients and situations. In more complex or rarer cases, it may take a long time to collect this data. This means that case studies ensure documentation and discussion surrounding rare conditions and cases. They also mean that the teaching or study is based around real life situations as opposed to learning from how patients are supposed to present. It is a good way to show that not everybody follows the textbook norm of disease presentation and progression.2 Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and management protocols. Data collected from case studies is normally much more in depth that ... • 5. White Lies In African American Literature One similarity in all of the African American literature read this semester is this one fact. White people lie. Granted, everyone lies. In these particular literacy works, however, the main characters white counterparts seemed to have done the most fibbing to put it lightly. From this habit of lying, most forms of African American literature have been effected, from early literary documents written by African Americans that have been altered by white editors to lies told by white people in the actual story written by African Americans. This paper will take a look at examples of incidents in which these lies occurred, and also discuss these lies told by whites and how they effected African Americans individually as well as a whole. This first example of the type of lies told by white people effected the earlier African American literary authors. They fell victim to these white lies in terms of their freedom of what they could and could not write. One example is that of Briton Hammon in his literary tale entitled A Narrative of Uncommon Sufferings. In his piece, he recalls different event he had experienced. One of these events was an encounter with a group of Indians. He noted them as savages which is very similar to how white people of this time period addresses the matter of Indians. This simple metaphor led some to believe this literary work of Briton Hammon was, indeed, heavily edited by a white editor. As a whole, different events throughout the story ... • 6. The Potential Market Opportunities For Lagunitas Brewing... The potential market opportunities for Lagunitas Brewing Company (LBC) are: 1. Growth of craft brewed beer market The craft brewing segment of the beer industry has experience fluctuations in demand from a high of 58% growth in 1995 to a decline of 5% annually from 1997 to 2003 (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). However, it is now experiencing rapid growth. At the commencement of 2012, 6.5% of U.S. beer sales were generated by craft brewers and that number increased by 15% by the conclusion of the year (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). The growth of the market presents LBC with an opportunity to generate additional revenue. 2. Utilize additional forms of marketing Word of mouth and quality products are the basis of Lagunitas Brewing Company s marketing approach (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). The company also sponsors touring bands by providing beer and gasoline and donates its beer to festivals and events primarily involving music (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 97 99). However, it does not employ traditional marketing, minimal pricing incentives, and push marketing techniques (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). While the company had revenue growth of 46% in 2010 and 60% in the first two quarters of 2011 using this strategy, other marketing techniques such as advertising or digital marketing for example, can provide LBC the opportunity to increase brand awareness. In the case of digital marketing, the company has the prospect of reaching more Millennials as they are avid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Call Of The Wild Conflict Analysis In the novel Call of the Wild, Buck, the protagonist struggles with the constant duality between his Love of a Man and his pull towards savagery. The civilization that greeted Buck in the Santa Clara Valley was one that was based on Southern Hospitality, but the savagery that slowly ripped and consumed Buck was one of an unforgiving nature, destroying anyone or anything that was unfortunate enough to see it. One major confliction Buck battles with is his Love of a Man while he is in the presence of civilization. In the beginning of the novel, while Buck is still on Judge Miller s place, London states, His father, a huge Saint Bernard, had been the judge s inseparable companion, and Buck bid fair to follow in the way of his father (12). Buck enjoyed being in the company of the Judge s family and was comfortable in the ways of civilization. On page 23, the novel states, Francois s whip snapped less frequently, and Perrault even honored Buck by lifting up his feet and carefully examining them. When Perrault did this, it made Buck feel that love of a man that he strives for. Later in the novel, John Thornton saved Buck from his previous owners Hal, Charles, and Mercedes, and took care of Buck until his wounds healed and he regained his strength. But love that was feverish and burning, that was adoration, that was madness,it had taken John Thornton to arouse (58). The Lee Strasberg Film And Theatre Institute Method acting is often misinterpreted as an acting exercise where the actor becomes the character, and keeps the persona of that character until they have completed their work. This misguided thinking has been promoted by pop culture and even sometimes by actors themselves. The Lee Strasberg Film Theatre Institute defines the Method as when actors use their imagination, sense and emotion to conceive characters with unique and original behavior, creating performances grounded in the human truth of the moment. This definition focuses more on the relationship between the actor and their character, rather than both being one and the same. Method acting is not a new idea. When the truth is found, and then executed well, the actor has reached their goal. At the end of the entire process, the actor s goal is simple: tell the story with as much truth as possible. This is where Method acting comes into play as a way to connect to the truth, and to translate the truth for the actor s audience. Another actor who greatly benefitted from the Method is Marlon Brando. He is widely believed to be one of the most influential actors ever, and turned going to the movies into a psychological experience. For some of his most famous roles in movies such as A Streetcar Named Desire, The Godfather, and Julius Caesar, Brando utilized his own personal emotional history to accurately portray his characters. (Thomson) An interesting aspect of the Method that tends to be looked over, is the fact that it is actually considered to be a very masculine and American way of acting. Few female actors have been famously successful with Method acting. • 12. Asperger s Development And Social Behavior Asperger s appeared first in the diagnostic manual of the American Psychiatric Association in 1994, 50 years after the symptoms of the disorder were described by Austrian doctor Hans Asperger. In 2013, Asperger s was replaced with the new term, Autism Spectrum Disorder (Delfos 2005). Many people continue to use the older name. This replacement was the result of significant discussion within the professional community as to whether Asperger s Syndrome constituted a distinct mental disorder or whether it was a form of autism. Asperger s can be examined through many theoretical beliefs. However, Vygotsky s sociocultural theory will be applied and used to analyze how a child with Asperger s is affected through language development and social behavior. Today Asperger s Syndrome is still widely known as an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Individuals diagnosed with this disorder are generally considered to be on the high functioning end of the autism spectrum. Children and adults diagnosed with this disorder generally have difficulty with social interactions and exhibit a restricted range of interests and or repetitive behaviors (Delfos 2005). The main difference between the two is thought to be in language development. Those individuals diagnosed with Asperger s Syndrome typically will not have had delayed language development when younger. Conversely, those with other forms of autism may evidence delays in language development and greater difficulty in communication. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Camille Paglia s Rape and the Modern Sex War Essay Camille Paglia s Rape and the Modern Sex War Camille Paglia writes the article, Rape and the Modern Sex War, which is about young women being vulnerable in today s society against rape and how feminism has mistakenly led women to believe that they aren t in any danger. Paglia states her opinion to women because she believes that women are vulnerable and should be aware of the pervasiveness of rape (83) all the time. Rape has been around for hundreds of years and the effects it has on women are life long terrifying memories. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Running to a certain authority is not the definition of a strong woman, says Paglia referring to her Italian philosophy that existence brings about confrontation (84). She wants women to stand up for themselves and when a man makes a rude remark about a women s sexuality they should deal with it then and there. Paglia uses an example from the movie Where the Boys Are when talking about feminism because the movie takes place in 1960 and is about women anticipating and defending themselves against horny men. It s victim is lured into a room full of guys not seeing what is about to happen and says that actions are often not perceived correctly and this is where the different sexualities are noticed (84). This point can be argued because the media blows things out of proportion and this evidence isn t really evidence because it 3 lacks reality and is an opinion of Paglia s. Paglia s final assumption in her essay is geared toward both sexes and how we must prevent rape as a society. Men and women must come to certain identities, which are somewhat similar but are easily distinguished according to Paglia in my point of view. The desire for knowledge and higher thinking often leads people to travel due to the possibility to gain new experiences and discover something new. The mystery behind certain iconic tourist sights that are brought to light through photography often intrigues and sparks curiosity in humans with the promise of new knowledge and discovery. The Miraculous Staircase of Saint Joseph in the Chapel of Loretto in Santa Fe, New Mexico offers mystery through the unknown and unexplainable questions that have risen throughout the years regarding the stair cases history and religious background. The mixture between the unanswered questions concerning the history of the staircase and its baffling architecture captured through photography throughout the years cause the stair case to be a focal point of many curious tourist minds in Santa Fe. The Chapel of Loretto was finished in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1878. The chapel was beautiful, but it was missing a way to access the choir loft that was twenty two feet up. Upset by this, the nuns of the chapel prayed to Saint Joseph the Master Carpenter (Helix to Heaven). • 15. The Theory Of Regression Results DESCRPTION OF REGRESSION RESULTS In order to empirically examine the extent to which changes in price causes changes in broiler (chicken) consumption, time series data was collected on 40 observations extending from 1960 to 1999 on nine explanatory variables in total. I regressed this data using an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach. The main explanatory variable used for my analysis was the consumer price index (CPI) for whole fresh chicken with the base years denoted as the 1982 to 1984 time period. The econometric model for my regression analysis is listed below: Broiler Consumption = a+β_(1 ) (CPI of broilers)+ β_2 (income)+ β_3 (population)+β_(4 ) (CPI for beef)+β_(5 ) (PPI for corn)+ β_(6 ) (NPI for broiler feed)+β_7 (CPI)+β_8 (AP of Broilers)+β_9 (population)+β_(10 ) (exports of beef, veal and pork)+ ε Data regarding my dependent variable was originally collected as pounds consumed per capita. However, I multiplied the per capita broiler consumption data by 100,000 to obtain broiler consumption in pounds per 100,000 people. In this way, I was able to obtain a larger coefficient on a few of the variables, which allowed for a more suitable display and discussion of the results in the paper. Further, the objective of this analysis was to explain to what extent price of broilers (CPI on whole fresh chicken) impacts broiler consumption in pounds. Specifically, the coefficients on the explanatory variables illustrate their respective effects on the number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Berger s Views On The Dialectic Character Of Society 1. I think the dialectic character of society refers to the mentality that individuals have about the reality of the way the society is functioning. Berger mentions how this character is blind, and how it needs to be addressed so that individuals will observe actual reality (Berger 4). Due to a variety of cultures within society, the dialectic reality is still being disputed. Man has his own thought process, but people are told only to believe what society has shown us. Man created society, but society did not create man. However, man is often viewed as a product of society because this is our everyday reality. 2. According to Berger, the three steps that constitute the process of world building are externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Externalization is man interacting with society being an essential step so that he can develop. Objectivation is man continuing to shape society by developing new things in it that help shape culture, for existence: language. Internalization is man using the structures of the objective world to help form his own thoughts and opinions. These all maintain a stable society with a similar reality. ... • 23. Amelia s Grief In The Babadody The Babadook is an Australian made film created, and directed by Jennifer Kent. The film was released in two thousand fourteen, and rated a seven out of ten by movie critics. The Babadook follows single parent, Amelia, who loses her husband in a car accident at the beginning of the movie on the way to give birth to their son Samuel. Amelia and Samuel are both struggling to cope with his death. Samuel has begun to misbehave in school, and has discovered an imaginary monster friend whom is quite often troublesome. One night Amelia reads Samuel a nighttime story named Mister Babadook. Every since they read the book, it seems as if the monster has come alive, and mysterious things have been happening to the two of them. The Babadook has started to inhibit Amelia and Samuels lives. Depression manipulates people s lives, and in this film, The Babadook symbolizes a living form of Amelia s grief due to her husband s death. The Babadook is a metaphor for the Amelia s grief, therefore making it a monster. Grief in the instance of Amelia s life represents a nontraditional monster. Grief is not literally a monster, but at the same time it is because it is very scary, makes you uncomfortable, and hard to get away from. It is almost impossible for a person to escape grief because it is a natural response to any situation that makes you feel miserable. • 24. Hamlet And Religion Essay The Religion of Shakespeare When studying the plays of Shakespeare, primarily Hamlet, it is easy to see Shakespeare had a deep respect and understanding of Christianity. During the 1600 s, the time in which Hamlet was created, Christianity was split into two main religious groups. One of these groups was Catholicism, which was discriminated against, and the other Protestantism. Protestants were the group of Christians created when the Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church. Those individuals protested the rule of the Catholic Church, hence being called Protestants. During this time period, in hopes of deterring the return of the Catholic Church and it s rule of England, Catholicism was, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hamlet includes thoughts on mortality, the afterlife, suicide, and the consequences of an individual s actions. Hamlet mulls over the idea of suicide in his To be or not to be soliloquy. As he cannot be certain what will happen to his spirit after death, he does not follow through with this thought. In the Christian religion it is understood only God can give and take life. And said, Naked came I out of my mother s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord taketh away: blessed be the name of the Lord. (KJV Job 1:21). Suicide is ungodly to Christian s because it rejects God s gift of life. This concern with the destination of one s spirit shows Hamlet to be aware and concerned for his spirit (soul). Shakespeare adding this inner conflict inside Hamlet s mind immensely deepens the character. It also shows that, as a writer, Shakespeare understands completely that an internal conflict can add as much satisfying drama to a piece as external conflict between characters. Copyright And Its Developments, Emphasis On Moral Rights Copyright and its Developments, emphasis on moral rights The Law of Copyright and its historical development Tracing back the historical development of copyright protection of the authors work, the idea of copyright protection only began to emerge with the invention of printing, which made it possible for the literary works to be duplicated by mechanical processes. Prior to that, hand copying was the sole mean of reproduction. Following Gutenberg s invention of printing press in 1436 in Germany, the necessity of protecting printers and booksellers was recognized there. Consequently, German Principalities granted certain privileges to printers and publishers and also authors. The art of printing spread quickly in Europe, King Richard Ill in 1483 allowed foreigners to import manuscripts and books into England and print them there. As a result of this, much of the book trade came in the hands of foreigners. However, this freedom enabled England to emerge as a major center of printing trade in Europe. The spread of technological innovation led to creation of a class of intermediaries who made the initial investment in bringing out a book i.e. printers who at the same time also functioned as booksellers. They were called Stationers in England . In 1523 and 1528, restrictions were introduced by Henry V Ill, prohibiting the importation of books altogether in 1533 on the ground that there were enough printers and book binders in England. The process of a desktop study involves correlating background information about the site that will affect the design and construction; from a desk study a large amount of relevant information can be gathered, such as: local context (i.e. what is near to the site, the aesthetic of the surrounding buildings); archaeology (beneath the surface of a site there may be unexploded bombs, remnants of old structures etc.); easements (the rights attached to neighbouring lands, for example right to light); the likelihood of contaminated soil (which we know we do have on our site); site ecology (the surrounding environment and how it coexists together). Having this knowledge of the site before any work has begun allows for easier planning later as obstacles that could have been a costly surprise later can be solved with much better efficiency. The process of a desktop study could also involve looking at OS (ordnance survey) maps of the site which can reveal the previous usage of the site as well as drainage and much more. Geological maps can show what the ground conditions are like on site and if there is any risk of, for example, subsidence occurring or if it already has. According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foods continues to face challenges from competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The company s differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been successfully emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016) noted that the company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away to other low priced organic food competitors. • 46. Rioting Of The Stamp Act Of 1765 There are significant differences between the two days of rioting that took place after the passing of the Stamp Act of 1765, by the British government. The first day of rioting, August 14, 1765, can easily be linked to the passing of the Stamp Act, were it was proposed by the British Government for the colonist to pay an extra tax on all the paper that they used. This first riot came about as a rebellion against the implementation, and against the facilitators, of a tax that was seen unfair. The anger of the colonist was clearly directed towards officials, exemplified by the leveling of what was supposed to be the stamp building. The rioters then directing their anger towards the man who would be the stamp distributor for the Massachusetts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Campaign Finance Research Paper What Caused for the Reform of Campaign Finance? The reformers passed these provisions in response to corruption, which culminated in Watergate 1972 presidential campaign (Wright, 1003). The reformers found that these excesses were fueled by contributions collected for political gain. Their goal was to protect the political process from distortion and corruption (Wright, 1003). Money also caused for the reform of campaign finance. Money does facilitate communication of political preferences and prejudice (Wright, 1004). It also does influence the outcome of elections. For instance, the more money spent on behalf of the candidate gives the candidate a better chance of winning the election. However, money could also lead to corruption because ... As campaign finance regimes transitions away from regulating which actors can spend money in elections, the central policy and legal questions going forward will ask how much an actor may spend without triggering contribution limits or disclosure requirements (Johnstone, 218). However, the traditional campaign finance regime limits contributions and mandates disclosure by making it clear to individuals on which contributions are prohibited or spending must be disclosed (Johnstone, ... • 48. Boys vs. Girls An Analysis of Katha Pollitt s Girls Against Boys? The article titled Girls Against Boys, published in the 30 January issue of The Nation magazine by author Katha Pollitt, brings to light pressing issues of gender discrimination and how this nation s education system has changed over the past forty years but still isn t up to par with where it needs to be with issues of gender equality. Pollitt exposes the views of conservatives toward feminism in the school systems of today. This article describes how changes in society are taking place, and what the future may hold for men and women in the world of employment and education. Pollitt begins with the mention of equal access admissions instituted in 1975 which leads into how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next sentence asks the question of whose idea was it to cut male friendly activities such as gym and band, obviously pointing her finger at conservatives. The next paragraph starts off with a question about the current dating scene and whether or not it consists of women who love fine art and men who love video games; this implies that females are the educated ones in today s dating scene. Next Pollitt focuses on the sexist nature of the labor market; describing how women need the credentials of a college degree more than men and how stereotypically male jobs that pay well don t require a college degree, furthermore showing that the scales have been tipped toward men more than women in today s society. Pollitt says that Maybe boys focus less on school because they think they ll come out ahead. The next statement in the article comes from Heather Boushey from the Center for Economic Policy and Research where it is noted that female students take out more loans than male classmates. Pollitt then says that this makes sense if a BA makes the difference between respectable well paying job and a lifetime as a waitress or a file clerk. This is written to back up her earlier comment that boys can get a well paying job today without an education while on the other hand women require a degree unless they re willing to accept a low paying job because there aren t as many female friendly well paying jobs in the job market that can be acquired with out a college ... • 49. Chemotaxis Lab Report Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For the majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference between life and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is not entirely dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to activate. Within a simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a complex behavior that is mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to move muscles that move an animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing these organisms on several plates which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to determine which genes are responsible for chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and 0.6981 for CEH 27. Overall, the results for CEH 27 are likely to show that there is a lack of genetic interference with chemotaxis where CEH 36 is less definitive. Introduction Within C. Elegans, there are three primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 50. Organic Foods And Organic Food In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing a report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. (Organic Debate, 2014) As organic foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about whether or not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic foods they are having arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels. Although people think that organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with there health and provides a healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food buying behaviors of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of motivating factors on both the attitude towards organic foods and the intention to buy organic foods together with the mediation effect of attitude towards organic foods (Cabuk, 2014). People tend to argue on the fact of whether or not organic foods are good for them. According to Soley s article it states that Organic foods are healthier for consumers, farmers, and the planet, says Cathy Fichtner, category manager for chocolate, cocoa, caramel, Global Organics, Ltd. Organic production reduces exposure to toxic and persistent chemicals in the foods we eat and for farm workers and their families (Soley, 2015).
