1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Technology within the industry of Media
Technology within media production and the whole process as a
whole plays a vital part in helping media institutions with
producing/ directing/ exhibiting and everything else in any
aspect of media on the radio television, magazines and on the
internet. Every busy uses new technology every day to help
broaden their business and help them complete their work and
help edit, film, record, and simply access anything in todays day
and age. Without technology the media industry would be
nothing as 99% of media jobs and workplaces will use
technology to complete what they do. New technology is
released everyday improving itself and helping out anyone that
uses it. I used technology in my film opening to help me with
nearly every step of producing it. It helped me edit, film, plan,
research, explain and finally export my work for everyone to see.
4. Technologies I have used
I used different technologies such as: Microsoft
PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Prezi,
PowToon, YouTube, Blogger, Numerous websites for
research, Adobe Aftereffects, Adobe Premier Pro,
Photoshop, Slide share. All of this helped me produce a
final product for my media film opening as they all
played a part in either pre-production, production or
post-production. I had already use all of these
technologies before hand and therefore I was
comfortable using them and had basic if not good
knowledge of how to use them for my benefit.
5. Adobe Premier Pro
I used Premier Pro to finalise and put together the clips I had to create
my film. I had used this software before and was able to get straight
into it with no trouble at all. I imported all of my clips and began
cutting and editing down them to best fit my genre (horror). By doing
this I learnt a few new techniques as I had not had to use filters before
to create a different sense of tension of film before like I had to do with
this film. I used a new method to help change the saturation and
contrast of my clips to best fit my preference. It helped me with post-
production with my editing and it was the only editing software
(besides after effects) where I edited my clips as I used after effects for
SFX and not just editing of clips choosing how much of what specific
shot to have for example.
6. Adobe After Effects
I used Adobe After effects to help me add my title to
my film and add the effects which make the title more
interesting and my ‘Lumber Productions’ symbol to
have an effect.
7. Blogger
Blogger is a online technology that allows you to
upload your work for anyone on the internet in your
preference to see if its public. This is what I used to
upload all of my coursework to be marked. It has been
able to let me have in a organised customisable,
chronological order all of my work over the last couple
of years in a blog like format that is easily accessible
and editable. Over my time using this for my media
product I have learnt new ways to upload different
types of files which have adapted my experience and
allowed me to further my knowledge of sharing my
work with the internet.
9. Prezi
Using Prezi allowed me to create different and more interesting presentations as
well as another way to present blog posts through embedding. I had used this
website before and therefore found it not very difficult and enjoyed using it and
have really developed my skills with it the more I have done. It has helped me
prepare my evaluation and let me present it better than it would have been wit h just
word or PowerPoint as they are more customisable and easier to follow as you can
make them follow a certain route which you can put together
10. Slide share
Slide Share allowed me to embed work into blog
posts. However, this was used for PowerPoints as
opposed to Word Documents. This also helped me to
share work and presentations as well as creating
posts in a more interesting way. I have used this
before so I didn’t have to learn anything new and was
not challenged in using it.
11. PowToon
PowToon is another part of technology I used to help me with my media evaluation.
I have never used it before now and therefore using it meant I was able to learn
techniques of how to customise it well and be able to do things I wanted to do and
set it up how I wanted it. It’s a really useful piece of software as it meant I was able
to portray my work as a motion picture almost as the text and pictures would appear
when I wanted. By using this I think my evaluation looks like it has used a vaster
range of technology as it is not just the usual PowerPoint or word document, it
requires more thought on presentation and how it is going to look in the end. To
finally be able to upload it to my Blogger account it required me to also export it
onto YouTube which meant I gained experience in exporting and uploading also to
YouTube which I hadn’t done before, which was fun and I will do it again with after
aspects of work I do in the future due to its simplistic
