1. Evaluation question 4,
‘How did you use media
technologies in the
construction and
research, planning and
evaluation stages?’

2. Planning
For the planning of my project I created surveys on a free
survey website called SurveyMonkey. From this I was
able to see what I should include in all of my media tasks
and was able to see what things I should avoid. I found
these surveys very useful as I was able to see what my
target audience would like to see in my work and what
they expected to see form real media texts and
conventions. From these surveys I was able to identify
what would attract and appeal to my target audience and
what would repel them.
3. Print work
For the editing of all photos and art work on my digipak
and advertisement I used Photoshop. This is a software
that I was comfortable using as I had worked on it for my
foundation print work. After all editing was complete I
used an online software called iPiccy to piece together my
work. This was a software I hadn’t used before but found
it very successful and easy to use. The software offered a
lot different fonts and tools that wouldn’t have been on
Photoshop or Pages (software used in foundation project)
and feel that it was the best software to use for
constructing all print work in my project.
4. Recording
For my project I had to work closely with an local artist
and had to record a song. To record all vocals and
instruments and the actual constructing of the song I used
GarageBand. This was the first time using the software
and at first found it challenging. After getting used to the
new software we began piecing the song together. One
challenging aspect was getting the timing of the lyrics and
the song right. I feel I was very successful with using this
software and feel as if I would be able to use it to make
more songs.
5. Music video
For my music video I recorded all footage on a flipcam and
then used iMovie to put together all footage and edit it to
make my music video. As I had only done print work in my
foundation project it was challenging learning how to
recreate editing techniques and overall using of the
software. To get used to the software I decided to make a
mock video and made a mini motorcross video with some
footage I had previously filmed with my brother. After
getting used to the software and discovering and learning
new editing techniques, I found iMovie very useful and feel
that I have managed to make my video look professional
with the tools and editing techniques offered on the
software.
6. Evaluation
For the evaluation of my project I have used a range of softwares
and websites. I held a focus group and put my responses into on
online software called Wordle this then created word clouds which
made the popular responses bigger than others allowing me to
clearly see what people thought of my work and what key words
they used to describe it.
I also used prezi for my evaluation, this allowed me to create a little
step by step response which walks the reader through different
stages of my response.
I also used slideshare in my evaluation, this online software allowed
me to share my powerpoint and present my response in a more
interesting and appealing way for the reader.
I think I have been able to use a range of softwares and techniques
throughout my whole project and my evaluation and have used them
successfully and professionally.
