The document discusses the various technologies the author learned to use while creating a media product. These included Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, SurveyMonkey, Blogger, Adobe Premiere Pro, photography equipment, and Photoshop. While some technologies like PowerPoint and Word were familiar, many others like SurveyMonkey, Blogger, and Photoshop were new to use. The author found Photoshop and Premiere Pro particularly challenging at first but gradually learned how to use their various tools effectively to complete tasks like editing videos and designing magazine pages. Overall, creating the media product provided an opportunity to learn many new technologies.
2. In the course of creating my media product I have used a vast array of
new technologies including:
• Photoshop
• Powerpoint
• Blogger
• Youtube
• Camera and equipment
• Photography studio
• SurveyMonkey
• Slideshare
• Microsoft Word
• Google
• Premiere Pro
3. During the production of my media product I used
software’s such as Microsoft Powerpoint and
Microsoft Word. I sued these to display information
and write up my main articles etc. This meant I could
structure my work so that it was easy to follow and
understand. I had used both these technologies
before so that was very beneficial as I already knew
how to use them.
I also used a website called SurveyMonkey to create a survey for my
market research. This website was completely new to me although I
found it very easy to understand as it had helpful step by step
instructions on how to create a survey. The use of social media such
as Facebook and Twitter also helped here as I was able to share my
survey link on to my social media sites to allow a bigger audience to
respond.
4. I used the website Blogger to upload all of my
coursework to. This was also completely new to
me as I had never had a blog or used this website
before. I learnt many things such as how to
change links into HTML to compose a powerpoint
onto my blog. Overall the system was quite easy
to use and store all of my coursework on.
I used Adobe Premiere Pro as a way of editing my audience
interviews to add text and clip the videos to only the audience
response whilst putting them in sequences so that each person
answered each question in the same order. I found this quite difficult
to use as there was no particular instructions and the software was
quite complicated. The most challenging aspect of using premiere
was cutting each video into individual answers and then putting
them back together to create a whole new video.
5. Another new technology I used was hardward and
it was the use of a camera. This was completely
new to me as the only camera I had previously
used was on a smartphone so an actual camera
was very different. However, after being showed
how to use it properely I found it quite easy to use
and learn how to make sure it is in focus properely
to take good photographs.
The use of the photography studio was also brand new to me as I had
never been in one before or used one. I found it quite easy to use
however changing the lighting was quite difficult as I wasn’t sure what
lighting would work best to take the best photographs. The use of the
tripod however made it a lot easier as I could be sure my photographs
were on good angle and taken without movement and it was also very
easily adjustable for the different heights of my models.
6. I used photoshop when
actually producing my
magazine. I used it for
editing my photographs to
make them look better
and more professional and
I also used it to create the
magazine as a whole
including my double page
spread etc. I had never
used photoshop before so
I found it very difficult at
first however I slowly
learnt how to use it
effectively and it allowed
me to produce my front
cover, contents page and
double page spread.
I found the text tool quite easy as it
was very similar to a text tool on
Microsoft Word or Powerpoint and
therefore it didn’t take much getting
used to.
I found the use of the shape tool
quite easy too however it came
in very useful to create
backgrounds and when lettering
needed editing ect.
The marquee tool was very useful when I was
putting an effect on my double page spread
photo where I would select a slice of my image
and move it slightly to the side. This was very
difficult to do at first but over time I worked out
how to do it effectively and the outcome was
very good.
I used the clone tool to
manipulate pictures where
there was slight imperfections
to try and make them look
more natural. This was very
difficult at first but I slowly
learnt how to do it well.
