Lucy Clarke learned how to use Photoshop and InDesign software to edit images and layout her music magazine. She became proficient in Photoshop and used it to edit photos and create her contents page. While she got the hang of basic InDesign functions, she struggled with more advanced features like text warping. She also used WordPress to create a blog to host her coursework, SlideShare to upload presentations, and a Fujifilm camera to take high-quality photos for her magazine pages.
This is a deconstruction of a double page spread. this helped me understand double page spread, which will help me make one myself. I used this double page spread as the target audience is near the same age gap as mine and the magazine "Billboard" is of the same genre of music, my magazine is. this means I can use this for inspiration when making my double page spread.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. Evaluation question 6:
Lucy Clarke
What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
2. What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
Throughout the course in making my media product of a music
magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread, I
have used two main technological software to professionalise my
finishing product and to make them as detailed and structured as
possible. Throughout the course, I used Photoshop CS6 and
InDesign. I used Photoshop to make my contents page and to edit
my original images. I also used InDesign to make my double page
spread. I Used slide share, a site I could load my power point on to
and then share to my blog. I also used a blog site WordPress, to
upload all of my production work and preparation for my
production onto. I used also used a Fujifilm camera to take all my
original images with.
3. Photoshop CS6
I used Photoshop to create my contents page. I had a basic understanding
of it as I used it last year in the very early stage of year 11. however, I have
developed my understanding of Photoshop and feel fairly confident with
using this software. I used this to give a professional finish to my pictures
and could make subtle changes to my images by editing them. I did this by
playing around with the brightness and colour balance to make the image
more brighter. I could also change the colour of the background by
selecting round the main image using the magnetic tool and then using the
fill tool, I could select a colour and apply it to the selected area. I also took
a person by selecting around them and placed them onto a different
background. I liked using Photoshop as I felt confident and seemed to know
how to work with it and I am happy with the finishing product. I think
Photoshop is a good editing piece of software as it make photos look
professional and makes pictures a good quality. I used this for my original
images on my front cover, contents age and double spread and I am very
happy with the finishing product and quality of my images and I believe
using Photoshop has made a big impact in my coursework.
4. InDesign
I used InDesign to layout, structure and create my double page spread. I
found it difficult using InDesign as I had no previous experience with using
the software. Using InDesign cause a lot of problems for me at first as I
was trying to figure out how to use it. I used YouTube to helped me learn
basic knowledge but I learnt mostly through experience. I seem to have
basic knowledge of how to work it. I could not however apply text warping
around my text. I wanted to use a text warp effect because after
deconstructing magazine double page spreads of a similar genre, it
became a common occurrence. I thought the use of text warping would
boost my grade but I struggled and ended up spending too much time
worrying about it, I started running out of time to post more posts on my
blog, making me behind. I do feel that InDesign made the layout of my
magazine look professional as there were markings I could use to make
sure everything was in the right place. This made it easier when it came to
making everything equal and when it came to fitting everything around
the page.
5. We had to use SlideShare as the blog site we used to set up our blogs
required the embed code of our PowerPoints to upload the PowerPoints
onto the blog. This is a good source of information, as whilst we could
upload our information onto SlideShare, other people can view it which
could help them in their media studies. Also, when it came to researching
into music magazines, I used SlideShare as a research source. This was
helpful as there was PowerPoints from students from previous years who
took media as an AS level, on magazine genres that helped my find
information that I needed. SlideShare was useful and easy to understand
and loaded my PowerPoints fast, this helped me when I was in a rush to
upload my PowerPoints onto my blog.
6. I used a blog site called WordPress to upload all of my coursework and
production work. This was good for me as it was a refreshing way of making a
coursework portfolio. This was a different way of portraying and handing in
my coursework instead of typing it and printing it out into a folder. This also
helped my personalise it more and has a nice presentation. I like using
WordPress as it is easy to understand and use. It is also quite self explanatory
if new to the website which I was. I liked the fact that each person can
personalise the blog, making the coursework look a lot different to each
others. With WordPress you can personalise how you present your work and
upload different forms of getting information across. For example, you could
upload videos, text and visual images and also power point. Most of my work
uploaded onto WordPress were power point as I prefer them and are quicker
and easier to post. I have also posted pictures onto my blog when posting my
finishing products and word documents which talked about music magazines
in relation to the one I am creating myself. Overall WordPress was fast and
easy to use which delivered a personal touch to viewers, meaning they can
find out more about me and my work style. This also made my work look of a
professional a professional standard.
7. Fujifilm Camera
I used this camera to take my original images for my music magazine
front cover, contents page and double page spread. I used this instead
of my phone camera as it gave the picture a better quality and a
professional look. I knew for popular magazines, they would use very
expensive photography equipment. However, we had a choice of a
canon camera and a Fujifilm. I chose the Fuji film as I found that for all
the shoots I did, the Fujifilm camera had a better quality picture
outcome as it picked up the lighting better and didn’t look as pixelated.
I liked taking pictures and organising the photo shoot and was probably
my favourite part of my coursework. I enjoyed playing with the lighting
balance to find what made the picture have the best quality as
possible.
