1. 6. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES
FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
The software that I used to make my magazine was Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
InDesign. I did most of my work on Photoshop, as I did most of my editing and creating
on there. When I first started using Photoshop, I found it quite hard to use, and I was not
very confident navigating around it. But, when I started to use it more frequently for my
magazine design, I soon became more confident when using it. I was soon able to
change hair colour, eye colour, skin tone, change the backgrounds and add effects
where suited. I also began to manipulate texts, to make them look as professional as
possible.
I also used InDesign, however I used this just to create my DPS. I made and edited all the
images and texts on Photoshop before adding them to my DPS on InDesign. When
added to InDesign all I had to do then was arrange them how I wanted.
The images on the next slide are showing how I made my own manipulations to the
image on my front cover. On my front cover image, I changed the hair colour, skin tone,
eye colour and lip shade. I also removed the background. I think it was necessary to
manipulated my front cover image as it was a mid shot, and any blemishes or
imperfections would be obviously seen.

3. To achieve a professional look for my magazine I also manipulated
texts. I used Photoshop to create my masthead. I created it using
the text tool. I then chose my colour, and because I chose white to
create a sophisticated feel, I decided a drop shadow was needed
behind my text to make the masthead stand out.
I also used the text tool to create
the quote for my DPS. To create
the larger quote marks, I had to
create the quote in 3 sections. I
made the quotation marks bigger
so they would stand out.
I also used an online presentation software called Prezi. It helped me to showcase my
work in a more interesting fashion. I used another presentation software called
‘Slideshare’ where I could upload PowerPoints I made on my computer, it made it easier
and more user friendly viewing PowerPoints via slideshare.
I also used the blog wordpress to upload my work onto. All my work throughout the
magazine making process has been documented on my blog.
