QUESTION 5
How did you attract/address your
audience?
A way in which we attracted our audience was through our actors. In order to make sure that the
audience was interested in the film, we had to make the actors relatable.
A way in which the actors were relatable were relatable was their situation. By situation, I mean the
hidden identity of the characters. This is relatable because some people do not tell friends and
family if they are gay. This could be because they feel that people surrounding them will judge
them for their sexuality.
How did you attract/address your audience?
The opening scene reflects this through two of the scenes. These scenes are the Castle Grounds
scene and the canteen scene. These scenes show that the main actor has not told his friends that
he is gay. It shows that he has a hidden secret.
We think that by using this kind of situation, it could give hope to those that want to tell friends
and family about their sexuality.
How did you attract/address your audience?
Another way in which we attracted our audience is through the music. We decided to use a song
called Up which is sung by Olly Murs and Demi Lovato. We have used the backing track because it
means that dialogue can still be heard over the music.
We have chosen this song because it is a popular song which has been featured in the charts. We
have used a song which has been released for over a year because it means that the song is more
likely to be known by a larger audience due to the length it has been released for.
How did you attract/address your audience?
The song debuted at number 120 on the UK Singles Chart for the week in December 2014. The
following week it reached number 43, before reaching its top position of number 4. The song has
currently sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide.
By having a popular song, this means that the audience will be drawn into the opening scene
because they know the song and will enjoy watching and listening to the song.
How did you attract/address your audience?
Before audiences watching the film, they would need to be drawn in via marketing and
advertising.
We would advertise the film on social media. This is because social media is popular with the
target audience (young adults). This will means more people will know about the film. Also, 74%
of internet users say that they use some form of social media. This is almost ¾ of all internet
users. Therefore, this shows that social media reaches a large scale of people therefore more
people will be aware of the film.
How did you attract/address your audience?
Another way in which we would make our target audience interested in the film would be by advertising on
billboards. This is because billboards are very common in cities and smaller towns. This means that a large
scale would see the billboard since they are very large in size.
We could also hold a premier in London. This is because it would draw a lot of attention within London and it
would also cause a lot of press to attend. This would create a large scale of publicity for the film which would
then interest potential viewers. A premier would also create gossip from celebrities since they will arrive for
the premier.
