The band Northern Ruins is planning a UK tour to expand their fan base beyond Wales. The tour will consist of 10 shows at small venues that also serve food and drinks, helping to attract audiences. It aims to market the band as an authentic pop-rock act by having them perform covers of popular songs along with 2 originals. The documents provide details on the tour route, venues, equipment needed, estimated finances, marketing activities, and health and safety considerations.

Ar tis t – N or ther n R uins
Following a successful series of summer gigs around Wales, the aim of
the UK tour is to gain a bigger Welsh fan base (holding 4 local gigs) and
expand further afield around England to increase their band awareness.
The creative vision for the tour is to stick closely to their ‘garage-band’
roots and market them as an authentic pop-rock band. The band will
perform all instruments and vocals live to ensure this and by having a set
list of pop-rock classics, (e.g. Green Day, The Killers and Stereophonics)
it will help to attract and engage a crowd.
The tour will consist of small capacity venues (up to 250), in particular
food/drink venues which will assist in drawing in a crowd and may even
provide the band a pre-existing crowd.
In addition to the covers, the band will also perform 2 originals to ensure
they are not viewed solely as a cover band and can begin to test and
market their own material on different crowds. These can be sold with a
selection of the covers on a physical EP in each venue to help gain
revenue and fans.

R oute + Venues
All of the venues have been chosen as they are notorious
in their towns/cities for live music, in particular up-and-
coming bands or rock music. They all are also food/drink
venues, increasing the potential footfall/listeners for the
performances, helping support the aim of raising
awareness of the band.
The tour will begin in The Red Lion pub in the bands
hometown of Llangorse as they already have a following
in this area and can guarantee a crowd. This will enable
the band to get promotional photos/videos to support the
rest of the tour. Similarly, they are ending in a venue they
have played before to finish the tour with a good-sized
crowd.
The band will also exploit their network of friends to draw
in a crowd, by playing in friends hometowns, (for example
in destinations B, E and F.) This method relies on the
word of mouth of friends and their local networks to bring
people to the venue.
