2. Who would be the audience for your
media product?
• Our product is mainly aimed at the fifteen to
thirty year old age group, and those who are
interested in the crime genre, as it consists of
elements inspired from classic films, such as a
scene from ‘Taxi Driver’. We had the idea for
the character, John, walking down the street
after watching this film.
3. • Our film is generally aimed at the male
audience, that is not to say we are excluding
female viewers, but our audience research
showed that it appealed more to the male
viewer. This is because of the prominent
references to crime and violence, and possibly
the use of gender stereotypes.
4. • Our media product is not aimed for a younger
audience due to the use of violence, and
references to illegal activities. We would not
want impressionable children attempting to
copy some of the themes in our film, such as
murder and the use of guns.
5. • The certificate for this film would be a 15. This
is because of the violent references and the
genre itself, being crime, we would not want
younger children wanting to copy the violent
scenes or the lifestyle which has been
portrayed.
6. • Our film would appeal to both an older and a
younger audience. Older viewers would
possibly like the product because it is inspired
from classic films, such as ‘The Godfather’
series. Younger viewers would possible enjoy
the film because it, at times, appears to be like
more modern British crime films such as ‘lock
stock and two smoking barrels’.
