2. Gender
• Action films usually appeal towards a male
audience because men are stereotypically more
interested in more violent and fast paced films.
They prefer a movie that keeps their attention on
the screen and has lots of things happening at
once. They also like the sense of how manly the
movie would be, including all the tropes action
movies have: car chases, fights, explosions,
beautiful women, etc. Whereas girls are more
drawn to watching Rom-coms and more light
hearted films.
3. Age
• The age of my target audience is in the realm of
16-30 (mid/late teens-early thirties). This is
because, these are the ages in which boys start to
be old enough to watch actual higher rated films
and when men are around the stereotypical age
of getting married and starting a family, which
will take up their time so they wont be able to
watch as many action films. However there is a
large amount of men who do still watch action
movies past 30 and up until around the age of 40.
this is because the older you get the more you
want a change of pace and to slow down.
4. Class/Race
• The race of my film will be predominantly
black, as the film is of the social realistic genre
my audience will be black because it will
relate more to them. However there will be
some diversity due to the action element of
my film. This will draw in a more diverse
audience because they will be interested in
the action along with the drama of the social
realism.
5. Sexuality
• I have no target audience when it comes to their
sexuality. Sexual preference doesn’t matter when
it comes to watching movies, however there are
stereotypes about the kind of movies different
people watch based on their sexuality. For
example heterosexual males would watch very
fast paced action films like die hard, whereas
homosexual males would watch films like Bridget
jones diary. Based on these stereotypes I would
expect more heterosexual people to watch my
film, but that is only based on stereotypes.
