2. Who would be the audience for
your media product?
We believe our film would appeal to an age group of
13-30 year olds of both genders. 24 HOURS is about
a young female girl and follows her journey after
being kidnapped by her fathers business rival.
We believe it would appeal to this age group
because the protagonist is a teenager but it also has
a very sophisticated and mature story line which
could interest an older audience.
The film also follows Katie's parents, who are a rich
middle class family who are widely disliked due to
their 'snobbish' attitude which gets them into the
positions where someone is willing to commit a
serious crime to get them back for the horrible things
they've done.
So it represents the middle class in a bad light.
3. Why would they watch your
film? What would appeal to
them? Before making the two minute opening
sequence to our film 24 HOURS we carried
out a survey in which we asked what people
liked to see in films.
The research we did sculpted our piece and
we tried to create a piece that best fitted the
opinions of the people who took our survey.
Eighty percent of the people who answered
our survey said they were between the ages of
13 and 18 meaning that the answers they
gave us helped us to understand what they
would like to see in a opening sequence.
4. Refer back to the audience
research that you carried out
As the film is a thriller/horror film, we
wanted to see which genre of film people of
our target audience enjoyed the most.
Comedy was the most popular but due to
the fact that we wanted to reach a larger
audience than just teenagers, we decided
to combine two of the other most popular
genres so we were taking into account the
opinions of people who were not in the 13-
18 age category.
