In order of frequency said in surveys;
•Word of mouth
•Movie Trailers
•Posters
•Movie reviews
•Starring Actors
•Previously reading the book
•Previous movie in the series
•‘Introduces settings and characters’
• ‘First two minutes can hold the most important plot lines’
•‘Influences my decision to continue watching or change movie’
•‘Directors purposely make good introductions so they’re normally the
most exciting part of the movie in order to grip their viewers.’
The most useful research we produced was the favoured genres as
this will influence our decision for the movie introduction we would
make and also which audience it would be aimed at.
If we were to produce a horror, we would have prominently female
audience, more specifically females aged 11-20. Yet if we aimed to
create an action or comedy themed intro, we would be making it for a
dominantly male audience.
We found that children aged between 0 and 10 are really only
interested in animated movies at the moment, and the older
generations seem to favour musicals.
The most watched aging certificate is 15, if we were to work from
this research we would me eliminating children and younger viewers
from our target audience and we would be more likely to produce an
introduction for a horror or comedy, these genres have higher ratings
due to more explicit content, whether it is violence or swearing.
