Was it informative?
I think that looking back at the audience feedback it shows that the
documentary was overall fairly informative, from the three
questionnaires it shows that they all gave the documentary either 4 or
5 out of 5. The documentary does include a lot of stats and facts about
the BBC as we had spent a lot of time researching the company, we
focused especially on the move from London to Manchester as it was a
big thing for the BBC to do and execute so well.
Was it entertaining?
Again, looking at the results it shows a similar pattern and overall the
documentary was given either 4 or 5 out of 5 for entertainment. I think
that we was successful in creating a documentary that fitted a broad
audience. I think the music choice added to the entertainment of the
documentary as all of the songs are upbeat and enjoyable songs which
made the documentary captivating.
Did it have technical quality?
The feedback shown that again it was voted highly for the technical
quality, I think that this is because we were able to use good quality
filming cameras and also the programme which we put the
documentary together on (premiere) gave us the opportunity to create
a documentary with professional elements. I think that the audience
feedback would have been better if it was open answer questions
where they gave us sentences and opinions rather than rating it out of
5.
Was it eye catching?
This question got mixed reviews and I think that this is because it was
created to attract a large audience with a lot of different age range, I
think that the documentary could be uninteresting to other people
during the interviews as in some of them they do seem a bit long and
the subject matter may not be appealing to some people but on the
other hand others may find it interesting and I think that this shows in
the results.
Did it obey typical documentary conventions?
The feedback from this question is also quite mixed and I think that this
could be because there are a lot of areas where the documentary
follows typical documentary conventions but on the other hand there
is a lot of footage which doesn’t and this effects the whole
documentary. I think that asking other media students to give feedback
on the documentary helps us to receive honest feedback as they are
also very aware of the typical codes and conventions of real media
documentaries so they are able to give constructive criticism.

  • 1. What have you learned from your audience feedback? Beth Whitehead

  • 3. Was it informative? I think that looking back at the audience feedback it shows that the documentary was overall fairly informative, from the three questionnaires it shows that they all gave the documentary either 4 or 5 out of 5. The documentary does include a lot of stats and facts about the BBC as we had spent a lot of time researching the company, we focused especially on the move from London to Manchester as it was a big thing for the BBC to do and execute so well.
  • 4. Was it entertaining? Again, looking at the results it shows a similar pattern and overall the documentary was given either 4 or 5 out of 5 for entertainment. I think that we was successful in creating a documentary that fitted a broad audience. I think the music choice added to the entertainment of the documentary as all of the songs are upbeat and enjoyable songs which made the documentary captivating.
  • 5. Did it have technical quality? The feedback shown that again it was voted highly for the technical quality, I think that this is because we were able to use good quality filming cameras and also the programme which we put the documentary together on (premiere) gave us the opportunity to create a documentary with professional elements. I think that the audience feedback would have been better if it was open answer questions where they gave us sentences and opinions rather than rating it out of 5.
  • 6. Was it eye catching? This question got mixed reviews and I think that this is because it was created to attract a large audience with a lot of different age range, I think that the documentary could be uninteresting to other people during the interviews as in some of them they do seem a bit long and the subject matter may not be appealing to some people but on the other hand others may find it interesting and I think that this shows in the results.
  • 7. Did it obey typical documentary conventions? The feedback from this question is also quite mixed and I think that this could be because there are a lot of areas where the documentary follows typical documentary conventions but on the other hand there is a lot of footage which doesn’t and this effects the whole documentary. I think that asking other media students to give feedback on the documentary helps us to receive honest feedback as they are also very aware of the typical codes and conventions of real media documentaries so they are able to give constructive criticism.
