2. My magazine appeals and attracts my target audience by following the
forms and conventions of real media products and also by the way it
conveys the indie rock genre. This helps the magazine to catch the
target audience’s attention and makes someone more likely to pick up
the magazine and look at it.
3. I have used bold headlines and striking cover images to grab my
audience’s attention.
For example, the model on my main cover image is playing an acoustic
guitar, an instrument typically associated with the genre of indie rock.
People might see the guitar and it may automatically appeal to them,
this might make them pick up the magazine to have a look at it.
4. The masthead is also bold and has impact on the cover, this would help
to draw the audience’s attention to my magazine rather than any
others on the magazine stand in a supermarket or shop. My front cover
includes names of bands solely from the indie rock genre in coverlines
and on the bottom strip; this shows I am assuming the audience
already have some knowledge of the genre and artists/bands who are a
part of it.
5. The band names will also attract fans as their favourites may be
featured in the issue. The colours I have used in my magazine are black,
white and green; these colours were all said to connote the indie rock
genre when I asked people in my target audience questionnaire.
6. This shows that these colours appeal to people who are interested in
the indie rock genre and will attract my target audience this way. My
magazine speaks to the audience by using direct address on the main
image, this would draw the audience’s attention as the model is looking
directly at them.
