2. I chose to do a poker theme
for my music magazine which
links to the main story within
my magazine of my main
artist/band. I also thought it
would be a good idea as the
idea throughout the interview
is that within the music
industry, if you ‘play your
cards right’ you’ll seek
success. Additionally, what's
on the cards is a reference to
what is next for them, hence
why I chose to use a scattered
card theme on both contents
and front cover in order to
relate to my main story.
3. Include simply band names
and individual artists
(created) anyone who is
interested in what the
magazine has on this person
or if they follow them they
will most likely be enticed. I
chose names that went with
the rock genre I was trying to
create.
4. The people I chose while
producing my magazine are all
teenage boys. This is because
this is also my target audience
so it would allow readers to be
able to connect with my artists
when reading the magazine.
They are all also of different
ethnicities which also gives a
wider range of my target
audience being able to be of
different ethnicities and allowing
them to again, be able to
connect with my artists. None
are really dressed according to
the latest fashions etc. which
makes it more masculine coded
so it is clear to see that my
target audience is male
dominant.
5. I included a special with a
free guide to festivals around
the country; this will appeal
to people who enjoy
travelling to gigs to listen to
various different artists. This
also gives an incentive for
readers to purchase my
magazine as they feel as if
they’d gain from the things
the magazine has to offer.
6. Words such as ‘greatest’ would
make readers think that the
contents in this magazine are
current and exclusive. It is also
a good way of the target
audience being able to keep up
with the most successful music
and what to look out for. For
fans of the rock genre, this
would be a feature of their
interest as they’d be intrigued
by the ‘greatest rock
meltdowns’. This is an
example of catering for my
audience as closely as possible
