2. TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for my music magazine is
teenagers and young adults between the ages of 1625, they also have a preferred interest in the indie
rock genre of music. I decided to produce this genre
into a music magazine as it was increasing with
popularity and there wasn’t many popular music
magazines that catered to this interest. Also my
interest into this genre was increasing so it was
interesting to research into it and see what musicians
were classed as in the Indie/Rock Genre.
Furthermore as I am a fan of the genre I will have
more of an informed opinion of what the target
audience would like to see.
3. SOCIAL GROUPS
This music magazine is aimed at anyone
who has an interest for Indie music, but more
so people in Britain due to the artists
featured being predominantly British. Also
information featured in the magazine may
solely be aimed at the UK readership i.e.
Tour dates, Album releases.
4. REPRESENTATIONS
The representations in my music magazine is of
people that don’t normally get noticed because
they look like everyday normal people. Which is
something that I wanted to portray in the
magazine; to show that its purely about the
music and not putting on a whole
choreographed show. To show this the artists
are in clothing that the target audience would
wear i.e. More relatable and creates something
to follow. Also the artists are shown to be strong
and independent which will give the target
audience confidence to be who they want to be.
5. REPRESENTATIONS CONT...
Also the use of design and colour being
simple suggests to the target audience that
everything doesn’t have to be so
complicated. Music for people is an escape
so if everything is loud and complicated on
the page it doesn’t really chill you out from
the daily stress. Indie has a laid back kind of
feel so that’s why I kept things kind of simple
and calm in order to link to the genre.
6. CONCLUSION
In conclusion my magazine includes things
that several different social groups can
identify with due to design, content and
images. I can connect with them through
their other interests i.e. Fashion and art by
including band merchandise advertisements
within the magazine.
