As evaluation
1. In what way does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of a real media
products?
Title & Font Style
I believe my title has both challenged and
used the conventions of real media
products. It is conventional in the way it is
bold, placed at the top of the page and
stands out. However, I think I have also
gone against the normal, basic style of title
as I added the musical treble clef symbol
hoping it would be original.People & Music Genre
suggestions
By using images like this in my
magazine I feel I have clearly
portrayed my magazine as a
cool, indie, casual magazine
that is clearly centred around
music and gigs. By using these
kind of people I feel I’ve
developed my product
drastically.
2. Costume and Props/ Mise-
en-scene of images
By intentionally using a guitar as
a prop I know it helps a great
deal to recognise and develop
the type of magazine which I
have created. In contrast, the
costume of my model was the
inspiration of the theme my
coursework would take as I used
her jumper as a tool to select
colours from for my title. I feel
this goes against conventions
slightly as normally the title/logo
of the magazine comes before
the photo shoot.
Furthermore, the majority of my
images, especially the ones taken
in the studio, offer a cool, stylish
mise en scene as the lighting is
slightly moody as shadows are
cast.
3. How does your media product represent particular
social groups?
I think the close up shot of
two males looking away from
the camera has some
resemblance. They represent
males who want to be looked
at and paid attention as
neither of them are looking
into the camera it seems
neither of them want to look
out, they only want to be
These two females in my magazine represent a
female social group who likes to be outgoing
and take care in their appearance. This seems to
also be the case on this cover of Q, as the
woman is wearing heavy make up with perfectly
styled hair and make-up. They all look down the
camera, giving the impression of vanity.
Both of these men
represent male
musicians clearly, and
they both carry
guitars, one is being
mobbed by fans and the
other is on stage
performing.
4. What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
In today’s world
5. Who would be the audience for your
media product?
