Evaluation Part 2
Hamza Hanif
How does my magazine a
particular social group?
My classical music magazine is aimed a higher class audience
because it’s colour scheme is gold, black and white. This is
because gold is seen on rich people so they can show their
wealth, black because it shows seriousness and white
because it shows the classic side. My audience would pay
£3.50 for a music magazine, I asked several people in a
higher class area (Baildon) and showed them my product and
they all said that they would pay up to £5 because the BBC
MUSIC magazine charges £4.99 and the colour scheme
looked “Rich” and “appealing”.
What type of institution would
distribute my magazine?
I think Rhinegold Publishing company would be interested in
my magazine because not too high of a price to sell and they
specialise in music magazines. They have produced different
types of music magazines, they have not got a magazine
which focuses about classical music artists or events, their
magazines are mainly about concerts which have occurred
across the globe whereas my magazine focuses on events
which will occur in the Britain and artists which are from
Britain.
Who Is the audience?
My target audience is not gender specific but it is aimed at
people 25+ this is because looked at other classical music
magazine covers and they have older people and had nothing
for slightly younger audience to read in their magazines. I
have aimed it at people 25+ because they aren’t in many
classical music magazines, on my front cover I used a teen
boy and it shows me challenging the music magazine
conventions because it’s very rare to see a young artist on
the front page.
How did I attract my audience?
I attracted my audience with the colour scheme, because I
chose black, white and gold I used certain colours for
different reasons. I used black because it shows the
seriousness of the magazine, I used white because it is
associated with the word classic and I used gold because my
target audience is mainly people with a higher quality of life
and people who are retired. I also aimed it at young teens
because they normally go through a phase which they don’t
have a specific taste in music but are open to different types
of music.
What technology have I learned
from the process?
I have learned how to use Photoshop on a more professional
level, I learned more editing tricks like the blur tool. I
learned how to use the black and white effect but use it to
play on the word classic, when people think of classic they
think of old things, black and white shows how old something
is and many years it has survived, but I took photos with
modern props and background. I also learned how to use
InDesign, I learned how to use it to create a magazine, I
learned how to use InDesign to create a professional looking
magazine which customers would buy.
Looking back a preliminary task
what have I learnt?
Since the preliminary task, I have learned how to use a
green screen and manipulate the image to make an object
look like it’s somewhere else. I have learnt to organise a
photoshoot better and I have also learnt how to use a
camera on Manual not auto because to achieve somethings in
my product I needed a depth of field shot which I achieved.
I also learnt how to aim a product a specific age range or
gender because on my school magazine It was aimed at
students between 16-19 and my music magazine I aimed it
at people aged 25+. I also learned how to use a colour
scheme to my advantage, I used gold to make it appeal to
higher class people and for it too look appealing to anyone
who goes past the magazine

Evaluation part 2

  • 2. How does my magazine a particular social group? My classical music magazine is aimed a higher class audience because it’s colour scheme is gold, black and white. This is because gold is seen on rich people so they can show their wealth, black because it shows seriousness and white because it shows the classic side. My audience would pay £3.50 for a music magazine, I asked several people in a higher class area (Baildon) and showed them my product and they all said that they would pay up to £5 because the BBC MUSIC magazine charges £4.99 and the colour scheme looked “Rich” and “appealing”.
  • 3. What type of institution would distribute my magazine? I think Rhinegold Publishing company would be interested in my magazine because not too high of a price to sell and they specialise in music magazines. They have produced different types of music magazines, they have not got a magazine which focuses about classical music artists or events, their magazines are mainly about concerts which have occurred across the globe whereas my magazine focuses on events which will occur in the Britain and artists which are from Britain.
  • 4. Who Is the audience? My target audience is not gender specific but it is aimed at people 25+ this is because looked at other classical music magazine covers and they have older people and had nothing for slightly younger audience to read in their magazines. I have aimed it at people 25+ because they aren’t in many classical music magazines, on my front cover I used a teen boy and it shows me challenging the music magazine conventions because it’s very rare to see a young artist on the front page.
  • 5. How did I attract my audience? I attracted my audience with the colour scheme, because I chose black, white and gold I used certain colours for different reasons. I used black because it shows the seriousness of the magazine, I used white because it is associated with the word classic and I used gold because my target audience is mainly people with a higher quality of life and people who are retired. I also aimed it at young teens because they normally go through a phase which they don’t have a specific taste in music but are open to different types of music.
  • 6. What technology have I learned from the process? I have learned how to use Photoshop on a more professional level, I learned more editing tricks like the blur tool. I learned how to use the black and white effect but use it to play on the word classic, when people think of classic they think of old things, black and white shows how old something is and many years it has survived, but I took photos with modern props and background. I also learned how to use InDesign, I learned how to use it to create a magazine, I learned how to use InDesign to create a professional looking magazine which customers would buy.
  • 7. Looking back a preliminary task what have I learnt? Since the preliminary task, I have learned how to use a green screen and manipulate the image to make an object look like it’s somewhere else. I have learnt to organise a photoshoot better and I have also learnt how to use a camera on Manual not auto because to achieve somethings in my product I needed a depth of field shot which I achieved. I also learnt how to aim a product a specific age range or gender because on my school magazine It was aimed at students between 16-19 and my music magazine I aimed it at people aged 25+. I also learned how to use a colour scheme to my advantage, I used gold to make it appeal to higher class people and for it too look appealing to anyone who goes past the magazine
