My Pitch
Music magazine
Possible names
- I have chosen ‘Red Indian’ as my name, as it is
memorable, and I would like to have a red,
turquoise and black theme-furthermore my model for
the first front cover will be in traditional
Indian face paints.
• Mercury
• Grey
• IMAG
• Bell
Genre
• I have chosen to make a new Indie music magazine. I believe there
is a gap in the market for this kind of magazine, as although
there are general music magazines, there are not many genre
specific ones. Furthermore, I have a natural interest and know
from experience there is a need for more promotion for this genre.
Cover price and frequency of
publication
• My magazine will be brought out monthly, as I
feel for an Indie magazine it’s following is
not from the majority, therefore I want to give
it an exclusive feel, with people eagerly
anticipating it’s release. Furthermore, by
releasing it monthly each issue will be or a
thicker. I plan on it being around 3.99, which
I think is reasonable for a monthly magazine,
but also not too expensive for Indie music
fans.
Magazine style, attitude and
size
• I’m planning on a style similar to those of the
magazine, ‘indie’ as I like their colour scheme
and minimalist, arty, relaxed feel. I’m going to
have a specific colour scheme throughout to link
with my title, red, black, turquoise and white. I
hope to have a mixture of artists that come under
the ‘indie’ genre, but whether it be indie rock,
or a style of indie that’s slower, more soulful.
The artists are going to be the main focus I think
on the cover, but inside I hope to have
interesting articles about the industry, a little
bit of fashion and photography, and about local
and non-local events going on across the country.
Reader profile
• My intended audience will be based on the
answers I received for my survey, in other
words the age category I will be aiming for
will be teens (13-19) and young adults.
Furthermore my target market will be those
interested in local gigs and keen on having
long youtube playlists full of their favourite
and newer songs, and like to be introduced to
up and coming artists.
