1. Filming Checklist
For the first day of filming, we plan to film the kitchen scene. We plan to film on
Monday the 15th
we want to start filming at around 4pm. In order to do this, we will
need to start setting up to shoot at no later than half three. This ensures that
characters have read the script and understand completely what is happening in the
scene ahead, got the characters into the appropriate costume, the equipment is fully
set up and have the directions of each shot correct from the storyboards. There are
many things we have to consider before filming such as what needs taking up onto
the moors such as equipment (cameras and lighting) and props. This is why we
decided a checklist would be best, so we don’t
forget any of these items
We will be using a Sony HXR-NX30 camera to
film the short film, as we have all had previous
experiences with using this technology in
previous media years. We will take two cameras,
so we can vary the shots and angles. We will
charge the batteries beforehand, however, we
will put a battery in each camera when taking
the equipment and pack two more, to prevent
them from running out. We will also pack a
microphone for each camera to pick up the
sound.
We will be using lighting as it has been getting
dark quickly recently, meaning we may have to
brighten up the shot. We will be taking two light
heads and stands because we may film from two angles at times, to may need the
same lighting in each shot for continuity. Also, if shadows are created with the one
light, we have another light to resolve the shadowing.
We will also take two tripods to fix the cameras on the top. This is because we are
not planning on having any hand held shots on the day of filming, as we feel that a
fixed shot would be easier and looks more professional for the scene. We will be
including a variety of shots in our short and using a tripod will help us to reduce
unwanted camera movement to help the audience have a more pleasant viewing
experience.

2. We will also bring the relevant pages of the story boards, so we know the camera
instructions and type of shot for each shot for the kitchen scene. This should
hopefully make filming quicker and more organised as we don’t have to decide the
shot as it already written down in front of us. This will be more time consuming and
will make our team look more professional as well as on the same wave length.
We will also carry two spare copies of the script. Meaning if our two actors forget
theirs, we have spares. This will help the continuity of our film as they have
something to read off if they haven’t learnt the script well enough.
