The document discusses the use of various media technologies at different stages of the research, production, and evaluation process. Technologies used in research included YouTube to analyze music videos, Google to conduct research, and Blogger to organize coursework. Production involved using a DSLR camera, Photoshop to edit photos, and Premiere Pro to edit videos. Evaluation utilized YouTube to post finished work and collect audience feedback, and Survey Monkey to conduct audience research. Over multiple years, the individual's skills with Blogger, Photoshop, and other technologies improved.
2. Research and planning:
In general research on music videos, I usedYouTube to watch and analyse three music videos. This helped me when it
came to creating my own video as I found out the conventions of music videos. Also in artist research I usedYouTube to
watch existing Fall Out Boy videos. I usedYouTube to watch videos and read the comments on what the audience
thought of the videos
Production/ post production:
We posted our finished music video onYouTube to get maximum feedback for our work. We used the comments as a way
that the audience could post and say their opinions on our video.
This helped us in the audience feedback section of my evaluation.
To gain an accurate information in our target audience we used survey monkey to get an in information
and understanding at our target demographic for our print products . We all used this site in AS to
conduct audience research and it allowed us to target our products a lot better.
Research and planning:
3. Research and planning:
Blogger is a website connected to Google, and is an online blog. Blogger is used to post content, information, notes, videos and
embedded links. In AS media, I used Blogger to post coursework, and for A2 too. Blogger lets me embed links from other technologies
and software’s, by copying a link and inserting this component as a “HTML”, this makes it appear easily accessible for all viewers. From
AS media to A2, I have become more advanced in blogger, allowing me to improve on my organisational skills. In addition to this,
Blogger is also used to interact with other students who have blogs by commenting on their posts which allows the flow of constructive
feedback and compliments between our blogs to help improve posts. Blogger is a way for me to post all work online for marking. Its an
easy way to organise my work. I have used Blogger since AS and its heled me throughout.
I can link other types of platforms to it e.g. PowerPoints, Images, Prezi ect.
Over the course of two years of using Blogger I have be accustomed to using it at quite a high level including,
• Organization
• Posting from different platforms
• Font changing
• Layout of my blog
• Adding colour to the bsckground ect.
4. Research and planning:
I have used Google several times in research and planning. For all the information finding I used Google
to find a website to get viable information from.
Anytime that I needed to go ontoYouTube or Blogger, I had to use Google. It also has advance search
settings, making it easier to get a more reliable and easier to quickly find the information I need. This is
the most used platform that I have used.
I used Google images to look at existing Fall Out Boy digipaks and magazine adverts to see how we
should design our products to appeal to our audiences, being able to look at lots of images of existing
images helps see what aspects and conventions that we needed to incorporate into our works.
Production/ post production:
In post-production we used Google for adding my work onto Blogger andYouTube.
5. Research and planning & Production/ post production:
SlideShare is the way how I uploaded my PowerPoints to my blog, its an efficient way to easily upload
them. I can also add tags and descriptions to my presentation to make it easier to find and to make
it clearer to my audience what it is when it is posted to my blog.
Research and planning:
I only used Prezi once in my portfolio. I decided to use it for my introduction to my blog. I felt like I was going to use PowerPoint a lot in
my evaluation and I wanted to show use of different types of media platforms and since Prezi is another presentation platform I felt
like I could show my skills and use it instead.
Prezi is a way in which you can create an online presentation. This was really helpful It lets me customising the presentation by
selecting a theme. Within the actual creation of the presentation you can control the font-style, font-size and colour. Aswell as the
option to create text boxes, add layers of slides and the insertion of images, audio and videos. Prezi has made me present my ideas in a
more simplistic way when answering a question or while presenting my intro.
6. To create the music video we used a canon DSLR 600D. Using the DSLR helped me improve my skills
when taking photographs and filming in a higher quality., the DSLR was used to take photographs for
my print products and photographs, I improved the skills of using certain shot types and angles. Using
a tripod was a helpful experience while filming and taking photographs for print products, as it removed
the shakiness as I held the camera in a stable way. From AS media we were able to use the DSLR and
handheld camera to record footage whilst making a video prelim. However, in A2 these skills
developed towards a higher level as we were allowed to explore and experiment with many different
shot types, angles and advanced settings, we also used a photography studio with box lights and the
camera set up. This gave the images a more professional look.
Research and planning & Production/ post production:
7. Photoshop was a software I used consistently to construct my print products througout AS
and A2. Photoshop is a media platform where i’m able to edit and customise photographs,
that were used in the print product. In AS media I had little knowledge of Photoshop.
However, this year Photoshop was a vital process when constructing our print products, as it
allowed me to push my skills and knowledge of Photoshop to an higher level. I also
incorporated more editing and experimenting with colour grading and saturation , and
specific tools in the Photoshop menu such as smudging, magic eraser and blurring.Although
it took me a while to get to using Photoshop, I believe I’ve used it to a good extent.
Production:
To edit our video, we used Premier Pro. Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editing software,
that allows me to create video/audio effects. Premier is used to cut and edit our video
clips and match it to the music/beat. I learned that you can change the speed and
duration, the size of the frame. This helped me make the video look professional and give
it the finishing touches when colour grading it.
