1. Q4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation
stages?
One way I used new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of
my piece is through Slideshare. Slideshare allowed me to post different forms of media onto my blog,
whether it were PowerPoints, word documents or simply just images which I needed on my blog. With
this, I had to think about what purpose I would use Slideshare as it could have been really easy to use it
every time, which would have affected my grades. This meant I had to choose which media products I
wanted to post through Slideshare and then create my other research and planning products on other
media technologies.
Another media technology that I used was Kizoa. Kizoa is a video making website which allows you to
drag and drop some pictures into the film reel and createa video using those pictures. This gave me the
opportunity to create new and unique videos which I could post on my blog. I used Kizoa to highlight
what the possible locations and props I was going to use were and how they would benefit the video I
would eventually produce. This gave me a lot of freedom to make something which looks good both on
the video and on my blog.
Thirdly, I used Prezi to createinteractive images which showcased my work. Prezi is a lot like PowerPoint,
however it allows you to createdifferent layouts of the images, colour schemes and has a lot more
transitions. Prezi gives the reader of my work the ability to freely look through in an interactive way, with
the ability to drag the screen around, go back and forth using the panning motion of the transitions and
to see the different colour and image schemes. When using Prezi, much like Slideshare, I had to make
sure the information I was putting on it was good enough and detailed enough. This meant that I had to
choose specific pieces of work to put on Prezi, for example my research into digipaks. This allowed me to
do my research and planning in a more inventive way and it also allowed me to showcase my work
through a media technology which looks really good on my blog.
Other media technologies that I used are YouTube and Blogger. YouTube allowed me to post my work
onto a public server and then finally onto my blog. This makes YouTube key as without it, my music video
would not be on my blog. Similarly, Blogger allowed me to showcase all of my work that I have ever done
towards my music video. Without Blogger I would not have been able to show anybody my work or
anywhere to store my work and use my creativity to keep producing good work.
In terms of equipment used, I used the digital camera to shoot a lot of my music video. Furthermore I
used the digital camera to take the pictures for my digipak and magazineadvert. When using this, you
have to make sure that the picture you aretaking is in frame and is in clear focus. This allows you to
creategood pictures or filming easily and effectively.
Finally, when constructing my pieces, I used Premiere Pro and Photoshop. When using Premiere Pro you
have the ability to make your piece what it is. This means you can change the lighting, transitions, effects
as well as audio effects which all allow you to make your piece into the genre that you want it to be. For
example, I used black and white effects on certainparts of the music video which not only made my
music video look better but it made it look like the rap genre I wanted it to be, fast with lots of changing
and flashing images and lights. When using Photoshop I was able to use effects, shapes and colours to
make an effective digipak and magazineadvert. This for example is where I used the noise effect to
createa starry background and then used colours to make it look good. For this, many different effects
were used and it overall made an effective and good looking piece.
