This document provides an overview of the Livestock and Irrigation Value Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project. The 6-year project, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency and implemented in partnership with various Ethiopian government agencies, aims to improve incomes and gender equity for smallholders through developing high-value livestock and crop markets. It will focus on 10 zones, targeting dairy, beef, small ruminants, poultry, apiculture and irrigated crops through value chain interventions, capacity building, research and knowledge sharing activities. The project seeks to ultimately increase economic well-being for male and female smallholders in the target regions.
