Essays On Controversial Issues
Crafting an essay on controversial issues presents a unique set of challenges that can make the
writing process quite demanding. The very nature of controversial topics implies a wide range of
perspectives, opinions, and emotions, which need to be navigated carefully to maintain a
balanced and objective tone. The writer must delve deep into the subject matter, exploring
various angles, considering contrasting viewpoints, and acknowledging the complexities
involved.
One of the main difficulties lies in striking the right balance between passion and impartiality.
Addressing controversial issues often means dealing with sensitive subjects that may elicit
strong emotions from readers. It requires a delicate approach to express opinions without
alienating those with opposing views. Finding credible sources and evidence to support
arguments becomes crucial, as the essay needs to be grounded in facts to maintain its credibility.
Moreover, maintaining a coherent structure can be challenging when dealing with controversial
topics. The writer must ensure that the essay flows logically, presenting arguments in a well-
organized manner. Juggling multiple perspectives and counterarguments requires a high level of
analytical thinking to avoid confusion for the reader.
Another challenge is staying updated on the latest developments and discussions surrounding the
controversial issue. Given the dynamic nature of such topics, information may evolve rapidly,
and the writer needs to incorporate the most recent data to keep the essay relevant.
In conclusion, writing an essay on controversial issues demands a careful and nuanced approach.
It involves navigating through a minefield of diverse opinions, emotions, and facts while
maintaining a balanced and well-structured narrative. It is a task that requires both research skills
and an ability to communicate effectively, acknowledging the complexity inherent in the chosen
topic.
If you find yourself struggling with essays on controversial issues or any other academic tasks,

Southwest Flight 1248
Some of the witnesses did not realize what was actually happening such as; we
thought it was an automobile accident and we looked out the window and we saw
the tail section of a Southwest airliner laying across the street (ASN, 2007).
Further, witnesses also reported that people were running and ambulances were
coming down the street (ASN, 2007). The witness reports for the accident of flight
1248 were not a significant source of the investigation. Findings. The NTSB made
23 findings relative to this accident, discussing crew qualifications, use of reverse
thrust, use of automatic brakes, landing conditions, landing surface condition
guidance, and Engineering Materials Arresting System (EMAS) (FAA, 2005).
Probable Cause The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determined that
the probable cause of the accident was the pilots failure to use available reverse
thrust in a timely manner to safely slow or stop the airplane after landing, which
resulted in a runway overrun. This failure occurred because the pilots first experience
and lack of familiarity with the airplane s autobrake system distracted them from
using reverse thrust during the challenging landing (FAA, 2005). According to the
NTSB report of accident flight 1248, there were safety... Show more content on

The Safety Board concludes that the pilots first use of the airplane s autobrake
system during a challenging landing situation led to the pilots distraction from the
otherwise routine task of deploying the thrust reversers promptly after touchdown
(NTSB, 2007). Therefore, if the pilots had been presented with stopping margins
associated with the input winds or had known that the stopping margins calculated
by the OPC for the 737 700 already assumed credit for the use of thrust reversers, the
pilots may have elected to divert (NTSB,
Year-Round School Benefits
Have you ever thought about how year round schooling can be beneficial to
students? In today s society, many school districts have been switching from a
standard school year to year round schooling. Year round schools follow the basic
180 day school year, but the days are more spread out throughout the year following
the 45 15 method. Forty five days of school, followed by fifteen day breaks. Year
round schooling is beneficial to many because it prevents students from gaining
unwanted weight and causes less stress for teachers and students.
One problem that exists in our society today, is adolescent obesity. One reason for
this early weight gain may be summer break. In the article, Kids Gain Weight More

In the article, How Much Does Stress Affect Learning by , it says ,
Stress...negatively affects the way children pay attention in class, stay on task, and
are able to move from one activity to another. This stress that students deal with is
not a good thing and it can also cause teachers to become stressed. The short breaks
that come with a year round school year allows students to get rid of this stress, and
relax. In the article, Year round schooling:An overview it states, teachers and
students experience less stress and burnout during year round schedule because of
the multiple short breaks available throughout the year. This reveals the fact that
year round schooling can decrease the level of stress a teacher or student has
opposed to the basic school year. The short breaks that come with a year round
school year allows students to get rid of this stress, and relax. It also gets rid of the
mental problems that come with the stress.
In conclusion, year round schooling is beneficial to students because it prevents extra
weight gain and stress. Some may say that year round schooling doesn t have a
positive effect on students, but extra weight gain, at a young age, and stress can cause
health and focusing issues . Year round schools can decrease the chances of these
problems happening is adolescents, and increase the positive outcome of being
healthy. So, when considering the benefits of year round schooling, think about how
they can improve student health and stress
Information Systems and Information Technology

The purpose of this presentation is to offer suggestions as to how XYZ Construction
Inc. can envelope advanced technology into its integrated business techniques in an
upward bound horizontal company expecting to expand its IPO.
Introduction:
Leonardi (2011) stated In many modern organizations it may be as easy for people to
change the material makeup of a technology, and hence its material agency, as it is
for them to change existing routines (p. 149). According to Nelson Quick (2011) the
process of modernization comes with both planned changes changes resulting from
deliberate decision to alter the organization and unplanned changes changes that is
imposed on the organization and is often unforeseen (p. 290). One of ... Show more

Organizations typically have more reasons to use information systems on a wider
scale than individuals. For example, Northcentral University Executive Concepts
(2011) details a list of types of systems and the purposes organizations would use
these systems. The following chart lists a few of the examples of different types of
information systems as explain by Northcentral University Executive Concepts (2011,
p. 1144). For the purpose of expanding a horizontal company, evaluating and
implementing the following types of information systems could deem imperative for
the success of that company.

Ethical Issues In Criminal Justice
Every time an innocent person is exonerated based on DNA testing, law enforcement
agencies look at what caused the wrongful convictions. There are many issues that
contribute to putting guiltless lives behind bars including: eyewitness
misidentification, false confessions, imperfect forensic science, and more (Gould and
Leo 18). When a witness is taken into a police station to identify a suspect, it is easy
for their memories to be blurred and their judgment influenced. This can lead the
witness to identify a suspect who is actually innocent. Flawed forensic science
practice also contributes to wrongful imprisonments. In the past, analysts have been
inaccurate due to carelessness, testified in court presenting evidence that was not
based... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mission of the agency is to develop potential procedures to decrease the
possibility of conviction of the innocent in North Carolina, thereby increasing
conviction of the guilty. In 2003 the proposal of the commission was implemented by
the instruction and teaching committee of the North Carolina Criminal Justice
Education and Training Standard Commission and was incorporated into State Basic
Law Enforcement Training. These were eventually made into statutory law in 2008.
The NCIAC takes thousands of claims and has taken multiple cases to court (Garrett
2013). Agencies like the NCIAC work to bring justice to those who were served
injustice. The innocent who end up in prison can t exonerate themselves on their
own. They need help and commissions are their last chance to the freedom they
deserve. Commissions have been a helpful asset to pardon the innocent but the largest
cause for exonerations is based on DNA testing.
DNA testing should be awarded to all who claim innocence. It is too expensive to
carry out DNA testing for every person who is suspected of a crime. It should be
done for those who truly believe they are innocent and have evidence in favor of
their claim. According to the Innocence Project, the Justice for All Act was
established into federal law in 2004. This law awards federal inmates that claim
innocence DNA testing. It also grants funding to the states that give the DNA
District Manager Interview Assignment
Interview assignment
I have to admit when I first got word of this assignment I was very eager to run out
and interview the district manager of the company I work for, Keith Perkins. I
myself work for the tech giant company, Samsung. I have been with the company
for a little over two years now. And I cannot be any happier with what I do. Keith
Perkins was the guy who had originally brought me in and hired me. He has been a
great mentor for me throughout my tenure with the company and has really been the
main reason why I excel in my job. In fact, I enjoy what I do so much that my
ultimate goal is to continue with the company after college and hopefully land a
different position in the marketing or public relations department to represent the
company on a bigger scale. Moreover, as the ... Show more content on

Also, to simply find out more about Keith s career as a whole. As I mentioned
before Keith has been a great mentor for me so I found this as a great opportunity
to pick his brain. Ultimately, I decided that I wanted to interview someone in a
position that I would like to be in one day. So I contacted Keith Perkins believing
that a job like that would not be completely out of reach someday. I felt that this
was my best shot at gaining some information about a career field that I would like
to explore. This was a great opportunity to gather information and guidance about
the people, environment, and skills involved in that field. I used this assignment as
a strategy. As on opportunity to get to know Keith Perkins a little better since it is
very difficult to get the chance to connect with him. Although I do work for the
company, in doing sales, I decided that it wouldn t hurt to do some basic research
about the career field. I wanted to clarify what I hope to gain through the interview.
Since Keith was the one who interviewed me years ago, I still had his contact
information from that day. Which led to the approach process being relatively easy.

and it has to be ready to cushion any potential blow that can hit it when resources
are low. Lastly on the organizational frames is the symbolic frame. Symbolic frame
represents the image of the organization to the outside world. The core value of an
organization is communicated clearly through its symbol. This value is the culture
which are related to the vision, history, rituals, ceremonies that is attached to an
organization. Many organization has symbols that depicts the nature of the service
they provide and some symbols are inspired by situations or tales that led to the
founding of the organization. The strengths of Symbolic frame at Delta Airlines
date back to the early years of the organization. In the words of an aviation pioneer,
CE Woolman, one of the four founders of Delta, he said we believe that an airline
has a responsibility to the public over and above the price of ticket. This is a
symbolic fundamentals that has reflects the foundation of the organization. CE
Woolman believed people should treat their customers the way they want to be
treated. It has reflected the slogan of the Delta Airline A service and hospitality from
the heart through team work. This are major strengths that has driven the company
dating back to the early years of the organization. A weakness to the symbolic frame
is the ever changing airline industry of the twenty first century that alter the
Justice Is Served In Agatha Christie s Murder On The...
Someone has committed a crime that affects an entire group of people, personally;
when the person is put on trial, the jury comes to the grand decision that the
criminal will not get the punishment they very well deserve. The subject has been
one of debate for years. Clearly, Agatha Christie s, Murder on the Orient Express,
displays that justice should always be served, as seen by her characters, even if jurys
are unable to do it themselves. Accordingly, justice is served by the character of
Mary Debenham. Debenham seemingly had something already in mind when she
said, When it s over. When it s behind us (Christie 10). To explain, Mary is involved
in the murderof Ratchett because a jury let him get away with murder. Due to the jury
letting Ratchett get away with murder, Mary Debenham seems to think little of
Rachett s death. Specifically,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this in mind, she was not distressed at all, because justice had been served.
Accordingly, Mary Debenham knows the true identity of Ratchett. For instance,
when Miss Debenham said, Do you know who the man Ratchett really was... Mrs.
Hubbard has been telling everyone (Christie 136). With this in mind, she knows who
he really is since he is her target for justice. Clearly, Christie believes that all
criminals should be punished. All things considered, Colonel Arbuthnot served justice
with his own personal motives in mind. Moreover, when the colonel is being
questioned, he defends Mary Debenham when he says, I can assure you that Miss
Debenham could not possibly be implicated. You feel warmly in the matter...
Arbuthnot gave him a cold stare. I really don t know what you mean (Christie 116).

Birth: Antonio Vivaldi had been born on March the 4th, 1678. He was baptized
immediately after birth
Early Adult Years: Antonio Vivaldi was made a priest in 1703. But, according to
him, a year later after becoming a priest, he no longer wanted to celebrate Mass
due to complaints like tightness of chest . This may have been genuine or fake. It
may have been genuine, in which case, the illness was probably asthma. It may have
been faked due to his greater love of music, so he could spend more time writing it
and jotting ideas down instead of celebrating mass. Anyways, Antonio Vivaldi
became a clergyman against his own will. He probably became one in the first place

After 3 years in Rome, Vivaldi returned to Venice in 1725, where he produced more
operas in the very same year.
Vivaldi also managed to squeeze in The Four Seasons in that epic year too. They
were the first four in a collection of twelve with a long name for another Opus, Opus
8. (Man he s written a lot of Opuses).
Late Adult Years: During his career height, Vivaldi was asked by many royalties and
noblemen to play for them. He played for some weddings and wrote another Opus,
Opus 9.
Emperor Charles the Sixth adored Vivaldi s music, and he knighted him and gave
him a gold medal, and an invitation to Vienna to work for him. In turn, Vivaldi wrote
some good music for Charles the Sixth.
Vivaldi s life ended in financial difficulties, for Vivaldi left Venice. He went to
Vienna to perform and work for Charles the Sixth, who unfortunately died shortly
after Vivaldi arrived. This tragedy put Vivaldi in a sticky situation. He no longer had
Royal protection and money and income, aka. No job.
Death: It is perhaps not very surprising that Vivaldi died soon after Charles, a year
later, on the 27th of July, 1741. On July 28 he was buried in a simple grave. His
funeral also took place shortly after his death.
Although Vivaldi has died long ago, he has not been forgotten. There are
monuments and memorial plaques at his last resting place and his last dwelling
place in Vienna. His works are still remembered, 268 years after he
Who Is Mrs. Mallard In The Story Of An Hour
Likewise, in The Story of an Hour Mrs. Mallard is described as a woman who
wanted to be free of her husband and responsibilities. She wants to live on her own
world free from society, her husband, and responsibilities. She was not satisfied
with her husband, but the moment when she hears about the death of her husband,
she finally feels that she has a free body and soul free (Chopin 1157). She becomes
very happy and her pulses beat fast, and the coursing blood warmed and relaxed
every inch of her body (Chopin 1157). She knows that from that point, she shall be
capable of taking her own decision, living her life the way she wanted too. While

Mallard s husband, When we see Mrs. Mallard warmed and relaxed, we realize that
the problem with her heart is that, her marriage has not allowed her to live for herself
(Jennifer). The moment it is revealed that Brantley Mallard is actually alive, she is
so shocked and her heart is so weak that the shock gives her a deadly heart attack.
She felt like she lost all of her happiness and dreams in flash. Later, When the
doctors came they said, she had died of heart disease of the joy that kills (Henrik).
She dies a fate that, to her, is better than remaining chaste and obedient wife.
In the play, A Doll House, protagonist Nora shows the common situation of the
women in the male dominant society, A house wife . Nora is shown as Helmer s
doll wife, as he treats her like a child. He believed that she had no idea about the
real world and that he must be there to take care of her. Torvald call his wife by a

of his wife like a little child (Ibsen 229). Even Mr. Linde says, My dear! Small
Household care and that sort of thing! You are a child, Nora (Ibsen 235). This shows
that Nora is not just dominated by her husband but that her maid also dominates him.

also known as distemper in equines. Contaminated drinking sources, feed containers,
or being in contact with nasal or abscess secretion can be how other equines can
acquire this disease. Isolation of the infected equine is the only way to prevent
transmission through direct contact. Never use another equine s individual drinking
container, feed bowl, or halter, at any place where equines are gathered publicly.

Juvenile Delinquency Is A Problem
Juvenile Delinquency When looking into the history of United States and elsewhere
juvenile delinquency is a problem and has been one for over a century. Like other
systems in place, the system involving juvenile delinquents has gone through many
stages. In the case of the juvenile delinquency, it has gone through four stages, with us
presently in the fourth. The causes behind juvenile delinquencyare still unknown
even today. Some blame it on the current culture, the over exposure to violence,
music and video games. Nevertheless, the true causes of it have yet to be
determined. The point of this paper is to examine the possible causes of juvenile
delinquency by looking at various fields and their reasoning behind delinquency. In
addition to understand the possible causes of juvenile delinquency I will be looking
at past and present assumptions including practices used currently and previously to
solve delinquency.
History
To gain an understanding of the current practices used to handle juvenile delinquents
you must first look at the history of it and understand where it was. The history of
juvenile delinquency is a little different from the criminal justice system history.
Originally, a juvenile that committed a crime went to jail with other male and female
criminals. At the beginning of the criminal justice system men, women, and juvenile
criminals were housed together. By putting juveniles with grown men incarcerated
for various reasons made them easy targets
Kim Jong Sung By Kim Il Sung
Kim Il Sung, originally born Kim Song ju, was born on April 15, 1912. Kim was
born in a dark time for the Koreans due to the occupation of Korea by Japan. It was
around this time when North Koreans grew tired of being Japan s puppets, and they
were ready for a true Korean to stand up for them and take back their beloved
country. Kim IL Sung was not born to become anyone important, and he was
certainly not born to become the future dictator of North Korea. Kim s family came
from nowhere special they were ordinary farmers who kept to themselves and kept
their Christian beliefs close to their hearts. Kim did not have the same faith his
family had; in fact he did not care much for religion at all. Kim s main interest

boss Wei Zhengmin. Kim became part of a Korean guerilla group, and with his

guerrilla groups became a big enough threat that Japan posted rewards for any
information on these guerilla groups, and over time Japan attempted to eliminate
as many of these guerrilla groups as possible. Those groups that managed to evade
Japan, Kim il Sung was among them, found refuge in the Soviet Union. The Soviet
Union trained and armed these guerilla groups. Kim quickly became known for his
leadership skills and his knowledge in both communism and politics his growing
popularity with the Russians gained Kim more connections with the Russians and
the Chinese. When World War 2 was almost over the Korean Peninsula was cut at

Analysis of Stone Soup and The Gangster as Tragic Hero
It is said that Americans are raised on certain values and all live and strive toward
the American dream. Somewhere along the way, though, lines were strewn and
those values and morals became extinct by nature. Now with misinterpreted ideals
and ideas of logical fallacies as our only reference to the normal way of living, life is
made to be more complicated and full of anxiety. In the short stories of Stone Soup
by Barbara Kingsolver and The Gangster as Tragic Hero by Robert Warshow these
non realistic values are tackled and confronted to reveal the true ideals of the
modern day world and the effects on its people. In the story Stone Soup Barbara

The circumstances in which the modern world faces are more unique and diverse
than ever before. Slavery has been abolished, women s rights have been achieved,
depressions have been conquered, wars have been fought, minorities are lawfully
considered equal, and gay and other martial freedoms are coming forth. The most
logical circumstances have always been around and known to be true through
nature. Humans are a social breed and strive for a sole companion but, none the
less, we are animals designed to survive and re populate. Our increased life
expectancy and uncontestable ability to manifest our own happiness only provides
more inconsistency when it comes to our families. We weren t meant to be
together for years and years, we were just meant to be together. Where the line is
draw is left completely up to us as the individual. As Kingslover states, If there is a
normal for humans, at all, I expect it looks like two or three Families of Dolls,
connected variously by kinship and passion, shuffled like cards and strewn over
several shoeboxes. In conclusion Barbara Kingsolver gets across that it is alright to
be different in the field of family and that all families have skeletons in the closet
may it be divorce, death, or even a gay member. It is what we do with these so
called skeletons that create our true values. So let s
The Fight Against International Terrorism
As the fight against international terrorism gears up for renewed hostilities in areas
of the Middle East against old foes and new organizations that have brought their
extremists views to the battlefields, the socio economic issues currently plaguing the
stability of Yemen provide the backdrop for the most potent threat to the U.S.
homeland and its interests in the region. This Red Cell Analysis will provide a
historical overview and internal look at the terrorist organization known as Al Qa ida
in the Arabian Peninsula while uncovering which intelligence collection programs
housed throughout the U.S. Intelligence Community are best suited at countering and
defeating the tactics used by this often violent extremist organization. Additionally,
this paper will distinguish which members of the IC will be the best collectors of the
needed intelligence to thwart any future attacks plotted by this organization as well as
identifying the proper intelligence analysis strategies that will be most effective in
eliminating this group and their objectives from the battlefield. Since earning its
designation as a Foreign Terrorist Organization on January 19, 2010, the group s
goals have remained consistent with the standards and disciplines found throughout
militant jihad, which aims to purge Muslim countries of Western influence and
replace secular apostate governments with fundamentalist Islamic regimes observant

The World Of Industrialized And Glamorized Pornography
Hot Young Girl Screwed Hard... By Society In the past few decades, what has been
commonly said to be the world s oldest profession sex work has quickly developed
to match the growth and demand of modern media. Mainly, this accounts for the
rise of internet pornography. While the increase in availability and ease of access
has opened doors to frustrated, stressed, and plain old bored individuals looking
for relief, but at what cost? It sells, and it sells well. Unfortunately, it also sells out.
Sex is an industry, with pearl necklaces hiding under starched white collars.
Corporations worldwide have capitalized and cashed in on one of the most primal
of human desires, and like most things under a corporate agenda, the system and
product are both decidedly flawed. The world of industrialized and glamorized
pornography leads to unrealistic expectations of the act of sex and standards of
viewer s bodies. The common themes of violence, humiliation, and deprecation,
usually aimed towards women, furthers institutionalized misogyny in society. Finally,
many areas of pornography boast and encourage immoral, corrupt, and downright
illegal premises and actions. These include (but are in no way limited to) abuse of
actors, access to child and underage porn, and revenge porn. All of these things add to
making a concept that has so much potential to be an aid to many for experimentation
and learning to be comfortable with their sexuality into something
Machismo Death Foretold
As characters, we are developed by our environment. The conditions and
circumstances in which we grow up influence and develop us as individuals. This
means that the culture, including any social mores, expectations, or beliefs which
are intrinsic to that culture, become a part of who we are and determines our
actions and perception of the world to be through that cultural lens. This can include
any national, regional, racial, or religious stereotypes we are exposed to. In Garcia
Marquez s book, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrative takes place in Colombia
during the 1900s. This environment serves not only as the backdrop to the story of
Santiago Nasar, but also as the place wherein the characters were reared. The cultural

We gain an idea of what is right versus what is wrong form the society which we
grow up in. A child who grew up in a nudist society would wonder why other
cultures have clothing at all. Similarly, a child who has been raised with an ideal of
what he should be as a man and had that impression ingrained into his mind will want
to fill that mold. In Colombian society, machismo has been a long standing ideology
in the culture. The roles men and women are expected to play are second nature;
almost subconscious in how they impact the life of Colombians. In Garcia Marquez
s novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, we gain a glimpse into what life is like
inside this very culture. In doing so we gain insight not only into the Colombian
culture but how it can affect people who are exposed to it. The cultural construction
of machismo has defined not only the main characters of the narrative but also the
people around them. The main characters in Chronicle are been heavily affected my

Misunderstand Ambition Definition
Ambition: Inspiration for Aspirations Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is
the vehicle you arrive in (Bradley, Bill). What Bradley meant was that Ambition is
one of the essential keys for success but you need to have the perseverance for it to
achieve what you want. If you have ever wanted to accomplish something or get
somewhere maybe a certain goal, that right there is Ambition. Ambition is an
inspiration for your Aspirations. Some people sometimes misunderstand Ambition
and they think of being acquisitive which is basically being greedy. In life you have
to be Ambitious to get what you want. There are many ways that this is expressed
throughout our culture, history, and our thoughts. Everyone is Ambitious in some
ways because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The sovereignty will fall upon Macbeth. This is said when two of the Characters in
the play kill their father and what Shakespeare meant by that was that it was a
vacuous decision made by the Characters for having the Ambition or desire to kill
their father. This type of Ambition is bad because to be Ambitious about drugs,
murder, or money will lead people to do some crazy things and it will lead to
situations in which they will be miserable. That is the opposite of what Ambition
really is about because to fill your life with happiness if to improve your life;
therefore, if you Ambition yourself with substandard things your life will turn for the
worst instead of being filled with jubilation and making you an eminent someone.
The Bartlett s Family Quotations there is a certain quote by William Shakespeare
that says, I charge thee, fling away ambition: By that sin fell the angels. What
Shakespeare meant by this was that you shouldn t be Ambitious because it is a sin
but what i think he meant by Ambition was that one should not be greedy. Greed and

Comparing Pygmalion And The Makeover
The play Pygmalion was a marvelous story, however the remodeling of its plot was
formed in the movie The Makeover. Pygmalion was surrounded with social class,
proper English and of course, an experiment to design a lady. No less was expected
when the classic movie came out in 2013. However, some modifications had taken
place and it was soon discovered that the two like stories proved to carry
differences, as noticed within the beginning moments of the film. To begin, the
character s last names are mirrored from the book to the movie. This would be
Higgins, Pickering, and Doolittle. However their first names are different. For
example, in the play, Higgins s first name is Henry, whereas it is Hannah in the film.

When Hannah realizes she has lost her campaign for Congress she feels saddened.
Elliot was doing his job for his beer company and collecting bottles. He made a
comment towards Hannah wishing that he was too smart like she said she was.
She insults him and they get into a little argument when he proclaims he voted for
her opponent in the election. Not only do the beginnings start differently but they
also end in opposite ways. In the play, Eliza Doolittle feels as though she was being
used for an experiment and develops a hatred towards Henry Higgins. They get
into an argument and it doesn t end on good terms. It isn t too long after this
argument that Freddy sees Eliza and proposes to her. She accepts his offer and
then informs Higgins on the news of the engagement. The play ends with her
being engaged to Freddy. The film portrays a very different ending. The Characters
still have the same argument though. Elliot overhears Hannah talking about the
experiment and feels as if he was being used. They get into an argument over what
would happen to him now that the election was over. The two characters didn t
speak for a while after the argument, until Hannah finally decides to visit Elliot. She
talks to him momentarily before leaving his residence, still being frustrated.
However Elliot soon follows her and speaks to her again about how she should run
for mayor now. They kiss and agree to go out for a drink and
The Similarities Between Walden And 42
Jackie Robinson was the first ever African American to ever play in Major League
Baseball. This caused a major change in Major League Baseball history because he
was the first one to play in a all white league. He had to deal with a lot of people
being mean to him and trying to hurt him and also trying to get him to lash out at
people so that he could get kicked out of the MLB. This theme can be seen in the
work of Henry David Thoreau. An example of this theme can be seen in the movie
42. Walden by Henry David Thoreau, and 42 by Brian Helgeland show that hard
work and dedication leads to success in life. This theme is supported by tone, self

The Chu Lai Massacre
Attacks stretched as far as the northern U.S. military installation, Chu Lai, down to
the primary objective in the south, Saigon. The launch of such an intricate and fierce
attack caught many U.S. commanders off guard because at the time, the potential of
the Northern fighters was severely underestimated. In the years before, Saigon acted
as a safe haven for many refugees trying to escape the horrors of war. The comfort of
the city soon vanished when the North Vietnamese sent 35 battalions to seize six
objectives in the capital. A few of these enemy fighters took over a government radio
station with the intention of spreading pro communist propaganda. The North
Vietnamese believed that if they could control the transmitting tower, they could
convince the citizens of the South to riot against the U.S. forces. Fortunately for the
U.S. troops, this plan was stopped by a Lieutenant of the Army of the Republic of
Vietnam(ARVN) who previously decided to cut all transmission to and from the
government radio tower. As the Viet Cong were waiting for reinforcements, ARVN

The Age Of Mccarthyism By Joseph Mccarthy
The Age of McCarthyism marks a sinister period of time consisting of convoluted
accusations and fabrication of a sensitive topic regarding communist infiltration
within America. Joe McCarthy s unfounded allegations naming supposed communist
subversives instilled fear and anxiety among Americans. This was exacerbated by the
anxiety associated with the concerns of an escalating Cold War. McCarthy was
motivated by his political ambition and thus used the anti communist crusade as a
scapegoat, to benefit his political career. It became increasingly apparent that the
accusations were made against innocent individuals. Despite resorting to
sensationalism and eventually lies to exploit American fears of a growing
undercurrent of Socialist... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In McCarthy s famous Wheeler speech in West Virginia, he stated he had a list of 205
names that were supposedly members of the State department that were involved
with the American Communist Party. McCarthy persevered and pushed to
successfully become appointed as Chairman of the Government Committee on
Operations of the Senate, which was crucial in broadening the scope of his powers to
investigate subversives. He questioned numerous government departments and the
paranoia and fear produced from the witch hunts and fear of subversives infiltrating
America resulted in it being titled McCarthyism . McCarthy eventually began to lose
his popularity and influence over America during October of 1953 due to his
controversial accusations against the U.S Army. When president Dwight D.
Eisenhower was elected, McCarthy s opinions became less of a focus in Media.
Many news organisations painted McCarthy as a villainous character due to his
attacks on innocent people (Hyper 1).
Despite McCarthy leading his own anti communist crusade, without the
implementation of the Smith Act as well as the support of the government and FBI
communist director, J. Edgar Hoover, McCarthy s accusations would not have been
perceived as credible. Before the Age of McCarthyism began, the American
Government had set up the organisation known as HUAC (The House Un American

Chaos And Prospero Essay
In the beginning of time there was Chaos. He was a Unicat, a cross between a cat

sitting in the Heavens so he decided to make a wife that was also a Unicat, whose
name was Creation. Both Chaos and Creation had children together, a pair of cats
named Death and Despair, and a pair of Unicorns named Gaia and Prospero. Chaos

Unicorns, to create a little world for them to live peacefully on. Gaia and Prospero
had started to create a little world, making the cats grow jealous. Death and Despair

Hercules of the Skies Essay
There were many important people, aircraft, and developments, which greatly
contributed to aviation development, which ultimately impacted the World. Out of
many aviation developments, I will write about an aircraft I take pleasure in seeing
and hearing, the C 130 Hercules. I consider this aircraft has made a significant
impact in the aviation industry, most in the dependability of the airframe and its
illustrious design. Today, this aircraft is used for many organizations such as
Military Ops, firefighting, and search and rescue. The military is the primary user of
this aircraft, for it uses it for many tactical operations. But what makes this aircraft so
grand? The ability to land on short runways and the ability to fly slow with load,...

It is modernized with computer systems instead of steam gauges. What I think
makes the C 130 in general momentous, is the number of international countries that
are using this airframe. Over 60 countries are using this aircraft and it is no surprise
since it has been in operation since the 50 s! ( Air Force Technology (2011, May 5)).
A big contribution to this outstanding airframe has to be given to the developers, the
company Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. An astonishing fact is that the same
company has made this aircraft for over 50 years; this just shows that Lockheed
knows how to design and manufacture lasting aircraft to persevere with modern
technology. I would say that the years this aircraft has been in service is enough in
itself to say how it impacted the aviation industry, giving it new means of how to
create lasting aircraft for the high demand for its operations.
A few decades ago, the military needed an upgrade on its cargo and troop carrying
capabilities. In the 1950 s, the less modern World War II cargo aircraft were the C
190, C 47, and C 46 s. These did not meet the requirements for a continuously
modernizing U.S. Military. (Simpson, M. (2011, October 19)). Therefore, in 1951,
the U.S. Air Force put out a General Operating Requirement for a new airframe that
will meet specifications in the category s of how many passengers or paratroopers it
will hold, as well as size
Effects Of The Slave Trade On The Country s Oldest Cities...
One of the country s oldest cities and the first capital of Brazil, from 1796 to 1888,
Salvador de Bahia had witnessed successful blending of European, African and
Indigenous cultures. From 1558, the first slave market in the New World, with
slaves arriving to work on the sugar plantations and later tobacco fields, Salvador
became the poster child for positive cultural assimilation. The slave trade, which
lasted in Bahia until 1888 had a direct impact on the state today; large Afro Brazilian
population and its European, African, and Indigenous blend of cultures. The
widespread impact of the slave trade on the county s inhabitants, culture, and the
economy proves that the slave trade in Salvador, Brazilled to more than an economical
gain for the Portuguese. I argue that slave and race relations in Salvador, Brazil

country s experience during this time racially, socially, and economically.

Form Of Slavery
The New Form of Slavery
Introduction
Kevin Bales describes modern slavery as, adapting an old practice to the new global
economy (11). He uses this statement to refer to the methods through which modern
slaveholders disguise their activities. According to Bales, modern slaveholders take
advantage of vulnerable groups of people in their hunt for slaves. They do not
consider color, religion or ethnicity while taking people into slavery (10).
Modern slaves
Modern slavery is the absolute control over another person s rights without
necessarily having the legal rights to own that person. Bales argues that this form of
slavery arose from the realization that full ownership of slaves exposes slaveholders
to unnecessary maintenance costs. Therefore, ... Show more content on

Many families usually sell their daughters to brothels that use them as sex slaves.
Their culture supports the selling of women, as they do not consider them important
in society. Most of the times, parents sell their daughters to help improve on their
financial status. According to Bales, most of them sell their daughters with the
purpose of buying television sets. In this business, the girls have no control over
their lives. Their masters make all the decisions (Bales 35).
HISTORICAL SLAVERY IN MAURITANIA
Most of the black Mauritanians inherited slavery from their parents. The parents
were slaves; therefore, their children could not avoid slavery. They still work for
their parents masters. Many of their masters take advantage of the teachings of the
Kuran to continue holding slaves. On the other hand, the slaves do not ask for
payment because they fear going against the teachings of the Kuran (Bales 80).
Similarities between the slavery in the two countries
They both take advantage of people s weaknesses. The parents in Thailand take
advantage of their daughters ignorance to sell them. In Mauritania, masters take
advantage of their servants ignorance of the freeing of the slaves in 1980.
The cultures in both countries support the two forms of slavery. In the native Thai
culture, women are property that men use to create more wealth while, in Mauritania,
the Islamic culture supports the capture of slaves in
Essay On Prohibition In Canada
Canada experimented with prohibition in different provinces from 1901 to 1948
with P.E.I. being the last to repeal it. These laws turned out to be a disaster for
Canada however, which caused many problems in Canada. The idea was pushed by
the temperance movement who believed alcohol caused things like crime and
poverty. They also thought god wanted them to get rid of alcohol to make society
pure. In the end though the government realized their mistake and shifted their
position to regulating alcohol instead of banning it. They did this with laws against
underage drinking as well as drunk driving. Reasons these laws failed include them
being difficult to enforce, a loss of public support, and the fact that it failed to

These criminals showed up to supply the many consumer who still wanted alcohol
giving organized crime the opportunity to make huge profits. While all the bars and
liquor stores were closed speakeasies, which sold alcohol, were everywhere during
the prohibition era usually hidden within another establishment such as a hotel or
restaurant. These new powerful mobsters were known to bribe government officials
and when that didn t work they used extreme violence. The members of law
enforcement that remained honest would ve been left helpless to stop these people.
Support for the temperance movement had already diminished following World War
I. The lack of government support also contributed to poor legislation and weak
enforcement which allowed crime to thrive. The temperance movement had begun
to fall apart since women had already gotten the right to vote so they couldn t push
suffrage anymore. Activists moved onto different causes like labour reform and
alcohol was no longer an issue with the public. Canada also was beginning to see
the great depression which would help to shift people s view of what s

Bedlam Painting Number Eight
Interpretation has been a phenomenon existing from the time immemorial. There has
been a long tradition of interpretation, in all occupations. Interpretation of arts and
literature has gone to an extent that it has taken shape of a discipline and has grown
as a methodology and an art itself. Eliot even says, We might remind ourselves that
criticism is as inevitable as breathing . Method of Interpretation has long been a
subject of discussion among intellectual circles and it has been subject to a constant
evolution ever since it came into being. Moreover, the conventional methods have
always been circling around the dynamics of relationship of the signifier and the

The World Of The Redemptora Construction
At the time of the Redemptora construction, its pre industrial design as a full rigged
wooden ship could still accomplish the new demands of the emerging markets
worldwide, notwithstanding new technological changes on the horizon caused by a
crescent industrialism. By this time new experiments with auxiliary propulsion of
ships had already been carried out for many years and resulted in improved steam
engines and propellers. Both steam and sailing ships were subjected to improvements
and innovative construction methods, such as composite hulls (of which the Cutty
Sark is a famous example), and later iron/steel. Although steamships had already been
present in sea transportation for decades, they were still used in relatively short and...

Nevertheless, it was the relative ease of wooden construction methods and cheap
propulsion (wind), that would make the wooden sailing ship still attractive even in
the last decades of the 19th century. All that was needed was a suitable location,
close to water, a constant and large supply of wood and human power under the
command of experienced carpenters. For repairs, wooden ships had also advantages
as they could be carried out on board whenever possible, and this is why carpenter s
presence on board had always been vital. If the need for large repairs were needed,
they could be done in smaller shipyards, still common in those days. (Greenhill
1993a, 24 26).
When compared to iron shipbuilding, The Achilles heel of wood building technology
was the limited length of ships that could be built and above all the demand for
careful maintenance. An additional defect of such large wooden vessels was their
structural flexibility making them ill suited to steam propulsion and propellers in
particular. As their age increased they had a tendency to hog and drop at the
extremities with the possibility of disintegrating into their constituent parts. These
details prevented the installation of propellers as auxiliary or main propulsion on
board, a problem solved only with the development of the iron hull (Greenhill 1993b,
21 22).
In the end, the iron ship was only able to compete with wood construction when iron

Essay on Human Relations Perspective in Management
Katie Tolan Management Human Relations Perspective The human relations
perspective is a way to manage a corporation where the employees are viewed as
social beings with complex needs and desires as opposed to just units of production.
It is based on the works of Abraham Maslow and Douglas McGregor in the mid
twentieth century. This perspective places an emphasis on the social networks found
in a corporation and uses gratification, not depravation, to provide motivation in the
workplace. The human relations perspective developed in the mid twentieth century
and was an extension of the behavioral viewpoint. Prior to the behavioral, almost all
management was looked upon through the classical viewpoint. This viewpoint

The human relations perspective views the workplace as an intricate social
network which a manager must control though increased participation from
employees and open communication. Within this perspective employees are
viewed as responsible, social, and self motivated. These views support Douglas
McGregor s theory Y. Managers who follow theory Y believe employees generally
enjoy work, are often self motivated to complete tasks efficiently and to the best of
their ability, and will actively seek responsibility. They also believe that people in
general are smarter than previously realized and can exercise high levels of
creativity and ingenuity. (Heyel, C. (Ed.). (1982). The Encycolpedia of
Management . NY: Van Nostrand Reinhold Co.) McGregor compares this to
managers who follow the X theory, who believe employees avoid responsibility,
have little ambition, and are inherently lazy. They feel that people must be
controlled and threatened in order to work to their best ability and are primarily
motivated by monetary rewards. This is the view that managers held in previous
perspectives. McGregor believed that a belief in a certain theory could end up
being a self fulfilling prophecy, meaning that if a manager believes their employees
will act a certain way then they will. (Kinicki, A., Williams, B. K. (2008). Chapter 2.

Food Ban Research Paper
Should government have the freedom to limit its citizens freedom? The answer is
yes but the question is how much and for what reasons. The ban on large sugary
drinks more than 16 ounce at food service establishments proposed by The New
York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sparked a heated debate over this question.
Proponents of the ban justified it by citing studies which showed excessive amount of
sugar causes obesity and has many other serious negative effects on health. They
argued that such consequences have negative effect for the whole society, in form of
additional health care and social welfarecost. Opponents of the ban argued that it
imposes an unjustified and unnecessary limit on personal freedom, does not reach the
intended goal of limiting obesity, and sets precedent for excessive government
overreach. Both sides have strong arguments, I am inclined to side with the
opponents of the ban mainly because I am wary of unnecessary government
overreach but I am on the border and ready to change my opinion in future.
In June 2012, Bloomberg announced that food service establishments should ... Show

In this case a proponent of the deal can argue that scientific research leaves no doubt
that excessive consumption of sugary beverages is harmful. As a result the
government has a moral obligation to ban it even if it only hurts the consumer and no
one else. To oppose this argument in a utilitarian context, the opponent must show
that the ban does not lead to the intended consequences. They can argue that the ban
does not include supermarkets, so the consumer can go and buy as much sugary
beverage he/she wants somewhere else.
In a legal context the question is whether based on the constitution and other
governing laws in the country and the state, the city officials have the legal authority
to impose such a ban. According to the New York judiciary system they
Bikini Bottom Marxist Theory
Marx s Bikini Bottom When a child is watching the television show SpongeBob
SquarePants, it is often viewed as an innocent, comical, cartoon about a Sponge and
his day to day activities. But later in life, after learning about Marx s Theory, one
can explain the correlation between the two polar opposites. Marx s Theory is the
political and economic philosophy of Karl Marxand Friedrich Engels in which the
concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society s allegedly
inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and
ultimately classless society ( Marxism). The entire town of Bikini Bottom is exactly
how a Marxist City would be set up, with each level of the social structure
demonstrated with different characters in different classes; poor, middle, and upper.
The lowest class in the today s social structure would be considered the poor, which
is often viewed as lazy, education lacking people who are not willing work in order
to move up through the social structure. Patrick, one of the main characters in
SpongeBob SquarePants, presents these views to be true while he is participating in
his role in Bikini Bottom. He has no source of income, does not attend school, has
little belongings and lives under a rock. In episode 13 of season 9 he refers to his
unemployment as funemployment when he tries to convince SpongeBob that he
does not need to work (Hillenburg). Another character displayed is Plankton. He is

How hard is it to do the right thing? In the article, The Man in the Water , many
people did the right thing right until the end. The Man in the Water takes place in
Washington D.C., where there was a blast of winter. It was a chaotic disaster that

Everyone have once, thought of themselves more than others but, in this article, not

problems and situations in this article. One of the problems in this article is a plane

people were injured and cannot aid themselves. Despite this incident, the humans

Clientsincluded university endowments, pension funds and wealthy investors. The
primary strategy of this fund is to purchase stakes in public companies with the
intention of pursing corporate change (Icahn often threatened proxy fights) to unlock
value for shareholders. The goal of the change was to increase a firm s lagging share
price through: share buybacks, asset sales, asset spinoffs and/or senior level
management changes, including forcing out the CEO. (ii) Icahn

are certainly targets of his activism that have seen substantial stock price increases
after he invests.

Essay On Loyalty And Loyalty
Customer Satisfaction And Loyalty
Zeithaml and Bitner (2000) defined customer satisfaction as the customers evaluation
of a product or service in terms of whether that product or service has met their needs
and expectations . Therefore, satisfaction is a consumer s post purchase evaluation
and affective response to the overall product or service experience. In other words,
what consumer perceives after a product or service consumption determines his/her
satisfaction. Many researches have concluded that satisfaction can determine the
customer loyalty. Customer loyalty defined as a deeply held commitment to re buy or
re use a preferred product/service consistently in the future, thereby causing repetitive
same brand or same brand set purchasing, despite situational influences and marketing
efforts have the potential to cause switching behavior. The satisfaction/dissatisfaction
occurring through a matching or mismatching of expectations and perceived
performance leads to loyalty behaviour.
Customer satisfaction was the key factor that affects mostly on service loyalty. Oliver
suggested that satisfaction is a pleasant routine and in order to be effective on loyalty,
satisfaction should occur for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the date of Air Asia, customer satisfaction is defined as the result of a
cognitive and affective evaluation, where some comparison standard is compared to
the actually perceived performance. If the perceived performance is less than
estimated, customers will be dissatisfied. On the other hand, if the perceived
performance exceeds expectations, customers will be satisfied and delightful.
Otherwise, if the perceived expectations are met with performance, customers are in
an unconcerned or neural stage. In general, increased customer satisfaction leads to
higher customer retention rate, increases customer repurchase behaviour, and
ultimately drive higher firm
Separation Of Powers Of Power

Separation of Powers
Separation of Powers is a system in which power is divided between three
branches of government. These branches consist of Legislative (Congress),
Executive (President), and Judiciary (Supreme Court). Each one of the branches is
given a duty to fulfill. If one branch doesn t fulfill its duties, the other branches can
force that branch to fulfill it. There is another system that helps these branches of
government to check on each other and limit each other s powers. It is called
Checks and Balances. It helps each branch to limit the power of the other. Each
branch has specific duties. The Legislative branch is made to create or repeal laws.
The Executive branch executes and enforces the law and the Judiciary branch
interprets the laws. The Separation of Powers prevents the power going to one
branch. The system prevents the abuse of the power given to each of the branches.
The system was used to limit the power of one branch for a reason, now it is used to
make obstacles for bills that will help the citizens of this country.
The Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances can be seen in action, when a
new bill is getting purposed, treaty is being made and when declaring the war
against the foreign nation. When a bill get purposed to become a law, it shows all
three branches fulfilling their duties. The bill goes through various phases before
becoming a law. For instance, if Congress comes up
Indigenous People And The Media
Indigenous Studies is a very interesting unit as I am able to learn and discover
more in depth about Indigenous People. However, the lecture that got me into
deep thoughts was on Indigenous People and the Media. I kept asking myself; why
do we view people that way? Why is it we change impressions when it s a different
race to ours? Now thinking back, I ve come to realise that media has a big influence
to our everyday lives. Indigenous Australiansin media are not highly recognised for
positive news. The way the media interprets sources of information about the
Indigenous Peopleshas change the views on what we think of them. Now this has
become a huge effect on the Indigenous Peoples as it lead to stereotyping, racism and
discrimination.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainstream media tends to focus on the negative side about Indigenous Peoples
like the problems and the relationship between the Indigenous Peoples and the
public (McCallum, Waller, 2013). Educational systems are the same, as the
students learn more on the negative history of the Indigenous Peoples instead of
the contemporary arts and performances of Aboriginal history. This leads to the
view of many Indigenous children feeling outcast as people stereotype on their
race when they don t (Salote Bovoro, 2008, citied in Korff, 2016). We cannot deny
that everyone stereotypes, including myself but I have become more aware that I
should think before I do or say something. I was taught in previous years that I
should ask myself, what if someone said that to you, how would you feel? That s the
same with Indigenous Peoples, they don t want to be treated that way because yes,
everyone is different, but we don t need to point it out and criticise about it.
RACISM/DISCRIMINATION
As the unit is about Indigenous Peoples, people thinks that this is the most
sensitive topic as people tend to think before they say something, unlike how they
describe people who are the same as them. During the lecture on People and Media
, it was a discussion where we were to describe the picture that is shown to us. For
the first half, it showed pictures of the everyday lifestyle of ordinary Non Indigenous
People, whilst the other half were the Indigenous
Importance Of Generalist Approach In Social Work
Applying the Generalist Practice Approach to Social Work with Child Advocacy
Centers The basic foundation of the generalist practice approach began in the early
1900 s. By the 1960 s, the generalist approach started evolving into the description
of individuals who had the abilities to work at different practice levels ranging
from individual to community (Schatz et al, 1990). In the mid 1970 s, the core
curriculum for the generalist practice social worker was generated. In 1987, Schatz
and Jenkins conducted a study and created a generalist practice model to help show
the connection between, basic generalist, advanced generalist and specialist practices
in social work (Schatz et al, 1990). The study also aided to define the differences...

An example of the specialist practice approach would be a licensed independent
clinical social worker (LICSW). He or she specializes in mental health and focuses
mainly on this aspect of the field. The LICSW uses the generalist practice approach
while practicing in their focused field. Today, the generalist practice approach and
specialist practice approach are the approaches used in the social work field
(Morales et al., 2015). Both of these approaches take a holistic approach to help the
client by using the client s strengths, competencies, and outside resources (Cody
Lehmann, 2008). Both generalists and specialists form a relationship with the
client that allows the client to become empowered. This empowerment permits the
client to take control of his or her situation as well as their success in overcoming
the issue at hand (Cody Lehmann, 2008). Social workers in both forms of practice
utilize the strengths perspective. This perspective uses the client s strengths in
order to come to a solution to the client s issues (Morales et al., 2008). Each
approach utilizes research based methods and looks for the best approach for each
individual at that time while applying the strengths perspective (Morales et al.,
2015). Now that both the specialist and generalist practice approaches have been
discussed, how does this apply in my current field of practice? Before we determine
this, we need to look at the history of the
Lab Report On Carbonate
To find moles of carbonate we needed to first determine the total alkalinity with
HCL 0.1 M as the titrant, meaning that the end point indicates the complete
conversion of bicarbonate and carbonate to carbonic acid. Indicator bromocresol
green (BG) was used to observe this end point since the range at which this end
point will occur will exist in the slightly more acidic portion of the pHscale covered
by BG. This total alkalinity is given by (2[CO32 ]+[HCO3 ] )=VHCl[HCl] where
VHCL is the volume from our standard HCl used in titration. Afterwards, we can
determine the concentration of bicarbonateby performing the steps outlined in the
procedure to begin converting the bicarbonate to carbonate, precipitating this
carbonate, and thus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussion
We obtained a composition of 58 (В±5.1) wt% Na2CO3 and 42 (В±8.3) wt%
NaHCO3 for the unknown solid analyzed in this experiment. Although the accuracy
of these results cannot be fully evaluated, since we do not have a known
composition concentration to compare, we must assume that there was some
contribution of error, especially given the somewhat large errors observed. One
possible source is a miscalculation of the volumes or concentrations obtained from
the results due to exposure of CO2 in our titrants and solutions which, as discussed
in the previous lab report, can make our solution more acidic than what the nature of
the experiment requires.2 Therefore, different volumes of standard HCl would be
necessary for titration. A simple solution for this issue would have been boiling the
distilled water to expel carbon dioxide from the stock solutions. Additionally, the
stock solutions may also be responsible for some of this error. Besides having stock
solutions available for the entire class, which may cause cross contamination and
mishandling of the stock solutions, the stock solution needed to be replenished
multiple times, thus providing the possibility of preparing a solution with a
different molarity. Moreover, at one point all 0.1 M NaOH had been expended, and
the only option available was to use a solution of 0.08 M NaOH for further
experiments. This was

  • 2. Southwest Flight 1248 Some of the witnesses did not realize what was actually happening such as; we thought it was an automobile accident and we looked out the window and we saw the tail section of a Southwest airliner laying across the street (ASN, 2007). Further, witnesses also reported that people were running and ambulances were coming down the street (ASN, 2007). The witness reports for the accident of flight 1248 were not a significant source of the investigation. Findings. The NTSB made 23 findings relative to this accident, discussing crew qualifications, use of reverse thrust, use of automatic brakes, landing conditions, landing surface condition guidance, and Engineering Materials Arresting System (EMAS) (FAA, 2005). Probable Cause The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determined that the probable cause of the accident was the pilots failure to use available reverse thrust in a timely manner to safely slow or stop the airplane after landing, which resulted in a runway overrun. This failure occurred because the pilots first experience and lack of familiarity with the airplane s autobrake system distracted them from using reverse thrust during the challenging landing (FAA, 2005). According to the NTSB report of accident flight 1248, there were safety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Safety Board concludes that the pilots first use of the airplane s autobrake system during a challenging landing situation led to the pilots distraction from the otherwise routine task of deploying the thrust reversers promptly after touchdown (NTSB, 2007). Therefore, if the pilots had been presented with stopping margins associated with the input winds or had known that the stopping margins calculated by the OPC for the 737 700 already assumed credit for the use of thrust reversers, the pilots may have elected to divert (NTSB,

  • 5. Ethical Issues In Criminal Justice Every time an innocent person is exonerated based on DNA testing, law enforcement agencies look at what caused the wrongful convictions. There are many issues that contribute to putting guiltless lives behind bars including: eyewitness misidentification, false confessions, imperfect forensic science, and more (Gould and Leo 18). When a witness is taken into a police station to identify a suspect, it is easy for their memories to be blurred and their judgment influenced. This can lead the witness to identify a suspect who is actually innocent. Flawed forensic science practice also contributes to wrongful imprisonments. They need help and commissions are their last chance to the freedom they deserve. Commissions have been a helpful asset to pardon the innocent but the largest cause for exonerations is based on DNA testing. DNA testing should be awarded to all who claim innocence. It is too expensive to carry out DNA testing for every person who is suspected of a crime. It should be done for those who truly believe they are innocent and have evidence in favor of their claim. According to the Innocence Project, the Justice for All Act was established into federal law in 2004. This law awards federal inmates that claim innocence DNA testing. It also grants funding to the states that give the DNA

District Manager Interview Assignment Interview assignment I have to admit when I first got word of this assignment I was very eager to run out and interview the district manager of the company I work for, Keith Perkins. I myself work for the tech giant company, Samsung. I have been with the company for a little over two years now. And I cannot be any happier with what I do. Someone has committed a crime that affects an entire group of people, personally; when the person is put on trial, the jury comes to the grand decision that the criminal will not get the punishment they very well deserve. The subject has been one of debate for years. Clearly, Agatha Christie s, Murder on the Orient Express, displays that justice should always be served, as seen by her characters, even if jurys are unable to do it themselves. Accordingly, justice is served by the character of Mary Debenham. Debenham seemingly had something already in mind when she said, When it s over. When it s behind us (Christie 10). • 12. Juvenile Delinquency Is A Problem Juvenile Delinquency When looking into the history of United States and elsewhere juvenile delinquency is a problem and has been one for over a century. Like other systems in place, the system involving juvenile delinquents has gone through many stages. In the case of the juvenile delinquency, it has gone through four stages, with us presently in the fourth. The causes behind juvenile delinquencyare still unknown even today. Some blame it on the current culture, the over exposure to violence, music and video games. Nevertheless, the true causes of it have yet to be determined. The point of this paper is to examine the possible causes of juvenile delinquency by looking at various fields and their reasoning behind delinquency. In addition to understand the possible causes of juvenile delinquency I will be looking at past and present assumptions including practices used currently and previously to solve delinquency. History To gain an understanding of the current practices used to handle juvenile delinquents you must first look at the history of it and understand where it was. The history of juvenile delinquency is a little different from the criminal justice system history. Originally, a juvenile that committed a crime went to jail with other male and female criminals. At the beginning of the criminal justice system men, women, and juvenile criminals were housed together. By putting juveniles with grown men incarcerated for various reasons made them easy targets

Somewhere along the way, though, lines were strewn and those values and morals became extinct by nature. Now with misinterpreted ideals and ideas of logical fallacies as our only reference to the normal way of living, life is made to be more complicated and full of anxiety. Slavery has been abolished, women s rights have been achieved, depressions have been conquered, wars have been fought, minorities are lawfully considered equal, and gay and other martial freedoms are coming forth. The most logical circumstances have always been around and known to be true through nature. Humans are a social breed and strive for a sole companion but, none the less, we are animals designed to survive and re populate. Our increased life expectancy and uncontestable ability to manifest our own happiness only provides more inconsistency when it comes to our families. We weren t meant to be together for years and years, we were just meant to be together. Where the line is draw is left completely up to us as the individual. As Kingslover states, If there is a normal for humans, at all, I expect it looks like two or three Families of Dolls, connected variously by kinship and passion, shuffled like cards and strewn over several shoeboxes. In conclusion Barbara Kingsolver gets across that it is alright to be different in the field of family and that all families have skeletons in the closet may it be divorce, death, or even a gay member. It is what we do with these so called skeletons that create our true values. So let s

By Society In the past few decades, what has been commonly said to be the world s oldest profession sex work has quickly developed to match the growth and demand of modern media. Mainly, this accounts for the rise of internet pornography. While the increase in availability and ease of access has opened doors to frustrated, stressed, and plain old bored individuals looking for relief, but at what cost? It sells, and it sells well. Unfortunately, it also sells out. Sex is an industry, with pearl necklaces hiding under starched white collars. Corporations worldwide have capitalized and cashed in on one of the most primal of human desires, and like most things under a corporate agenda, the system and product are both decidedly flawed. The world of industrialized and glamorized pornography leads to unrealistic expectations of the act of sex and standards of viewer s bodies. The common themes of violence, humiliation, and deprecation, usually aimed towards women, furthers institutionalized misogyny in society. Finally, many areas of pornography boast and encourage immoral, corrupt, and downright illegal premises and actions. These include (but are in no way limited to) abuse of actors, access to child and underage porn, and revenge porn. All of these things add to making a concept that has so much potential to be an aid to many for experimentation and learning to be comfortable with their sexuality into something

This is said when two of the Characters in the play kill their father and what Shakespeare meant by that was that it was a vacuous decision made by the Characters for having the Ambition or desire to kill their father. This type of Ambition is bad because to be Ambitious about drugs, murder, or money will lead people to do some crazy things and it will lead to situations in which they will be miserable. That is the opposite of what Ambition really is about because to fill your life with happiness if to improve your life; therefore, if you Ambition yourself with substandard things your life will turn for the worst instead of being filled with jubilation and making you an eminent someone. The Bartlett s Family Quotations there is a certain quote by William Shakespeare that says, I charge thee, fling away ambition: By that sin fell the angels. Out of many aviation developments, I will write about an aircraft I take pleasure in seeing and hearing, the C 130 Hercules. I consider this aircraft has made a significant impact in the aviation industry, most in the dependability of the airframe and its illustrious design. Today, this aircraft is used for many organizations such as Military Ops, firefighting, and search and rescue. The military is the primary user of this aircraft, for it uses it for many tactical operations. But what makes this aircraft so grand? What I think makes the C 130 in general momentous, is the number of international countries that are using this airframe. Over 60 countries are using this aircraft and it is no surprise since it has been in operation since the 50 s! ( Air Force Technology (2011, May 5)). A big contribution to this outstanding airframe has to be given to the developers, the company Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. An astonishing fact is that the same company has made this aircraft for over 50 years; this just shows that Lockheed knows how to design and manufacture lasting aircraft to persevere with modern technology. I would say that the years this aircraft has been in service is enough in itself to say how it impacted the aviation industry, giving it new means of how to create lasting aircraft for the high demand for its operations. A few decades ago, the military needed an upgrade on its cargo and troop carrying capabilities. In the 1950 s, the less modern World War II cargo aircraft were the C 190, C 47, and C 46 s. These did not meet the requirements for a continuously modernizing U.S. Military. (Simpson, M. (2011, October 19)). Therefore, in 1951, the U.S. Air Force put out a General Operating Requirement for a new airframe that will meet specifications in the category s of how many passengers or paratroopers it will hold, as well as size

Nevertheless, it was the relative ease of wooden construction methods and cheap propulsion (wind), that would make the wooden sailing ship still attractive even in the last decades of the 19th century. All that was needed was a suitable location, close to water, a constant and large supply of wood and human power under the command of experienced carpenters. For repairs, wooden ships had also advantages as they could be carried out on board whenever possible, and this is why carpenter s presence on board had always been vital. If the need for large repairs were needed, they could be done in smaller shipyards, still common in those days. (Greenhill 1993a, 24 26). When compared to iron shipbuilding, The Achilles heel of wood building technology was the limited length of ships that could be built and above all the demand for careful maintenance. An additional defect of such large wooden vessels was their structural flexibility making them ill suited to steam propulsion and propellers in particular. As their age increased they had a tendency to hog and drop at the extremities with the possibility of disintegrating into their constituent parts. These details prevented the installation of propellers as auxiliary or main propulsion on board, a problem solved only with the development of the iron hull (Greenhill 1993b, 21 22). Bikini Bottom Marxist Theory Marx s Bikini Bottom When a child is watching the television show SpongeBob SquarePants, it is often viewed as an innocent, comical, cartoon about a Sponge and his day to day activities. But later in life, after learning about Marx s Theory, one can explain the correlation between the two polar opposites. Marx s Theory is the political and economic philosophy of Karl Marxand Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society s allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society ( Marxism). • 37. The Man In The Water By Roger Rosenblatt How hard is it to do the right thing? In the article, The Man in the Water , many people did the right thing right until the end. The Man in the Water takes place in Washington D.C., where there was a blast of winter. It was a chaotic disaster that caught the nation s attention. In reality, not everyone is willing to be the good guy . Everyone have once, thought of themselves more than others but, in this article, not everyone was selfish. Not being selfish, showed heroism and bravery. In the article The Man in the Water , Roger Rosenblatt uses conflict and setting to develop moral courage. In this article, the author uses conflict to show guts. There are many problems and situations in this article. One of the problems in this article is a plane crashing. Last Wednesday, the elements, indifferent as ever, brought down flight 90 (Rosenblatt, 273). Nature has brought down a plane in its winter wonderland. Many people were injured and cannot aid themselves. Despite this incident, the humans worked together to overcome this obstacle to help help others that needed it. Instead of doing nothing, they risked their lives to make sure the people on the plane lived.. Another conflict is, the humans having a chance to go home. The men who helped out was given numerous chances to leave the disaster site. They had a choice to stay... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conflicts in this article is man versus nature and man versus self. The setting also affected heroism by being in winter and in an important city called, Washington. Moral courage is trying to not be greedy but to help each other and not for personal gain. Just like the unidentified man who did not want to reveal himself. He did it out of the heart and not to receive awards or fame. The theme of Moral Courage related to the real world because if everyone helped each other then, the world will be a better

Activist Investments by Carl Ichan Hedge fund activists rely on their ability to guide corporate decisions in a manner that will unlock value at an underperforming company by altering management and strategic direction. Shareholder activists will make sizable investments in companies with the intention of affecting this positive change. There has been significant debate whether these activists are truly adding value to corporate shareholders. However, it does seem that the negative connotation associated with the term activist seems to be fading. Even the current Chairwoman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mary Jo White, remarked at a conference in December 2013 that the view of shareholder activists has progressed away from the negative ... The primary strategy of this fund is to purchase stakes in public companies with the intention of pursing corporate change (Icahn often threatened proxy fights) to unlock value for shareholders. The goal of the change was to increase a firm s lagging share price through: share buybacks, asset sales, asset spinoffs and/or senior level management changes, including forcing out the CEO. Through his investment vehicles he has taken substantial positions in several companies including: Gulf Western, Viacom, Marshall Field s, Marvel Comics, Revlon, Imclone, Fairmont Hotels, Blockbuster, Kerr‐McGee, Time Warner, Netflix, Chesapeake Energy, Motorola, Dynegy and Herbalife. Icahn s track record of boosting shareholder value is mixed (see the appendix for a complete list of filed 13D forms, with corresponding performance statistics, by Icahn over the last 10 years), but there are certainly targets of his activism that have seen substantial stock price increases after he invests. After urging for Netflix to pursue a sale, he
  • 39. Essay On Loyalty And Loyalty Customer Satisfaction And Loyalty Zeithaml and Bitner (2000) defined customer satisfaction as the customers evaluation of a product or service in terms of whether that product or service has met their needs and expectations . Therefore, satisfaction is a consumer s post purchase evaluation and affective response to the overall product or service experience. In other words, what consumer perceives after a product or service consumption determines his/her satisfaction. Many researches have concluded that satisfaction can determine the customer loyalty. Customer loyalty defined as a deeply held commitment to re buy or re use a preferred product/service consistently in the future, thereby causing repetitive same brand or same brand set purchasing, despite situational influences and marketing efforts have the potential to cause switching behavior. The satisfaction/dissatisfaction occurring through a matching or mismatching of expectations and perceived performance leads to loyalty behaviour. Customer satisfaction was the key factor that affects mostly on service loyalty. Oliver suggested that satisfaction is a pleasant routine and in order to be effective on loyalty, satisfaction should occur for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the date of Air Asia, customer satisfaction is defined as the result of a cognitive and affective evaluation, where some comparison standard is compared to the actually perceived performance. If the perceived performance is less than estimated, customers will be dissatisfied. On the other hand, if the perceived performance exceeds expectations, customers will be satisfied and delightful. Otherwise, if the perceived expectations are met with performance, customers are in an unconcerned or neural stage. In general, increased customer satisfaction leads to higher customer retention rate, increases customer repurchase behaviour, and ultimately drive higher firm
  • 40. Separation Of Powers Of Power Jaspal Singh WRI 1. Sec 32 Rebeca Antoine September 25, 2014 Separation of Powers Separation of Powers is a system in which power is divided between three branches of government. These branches consist of Legislative (Congress), Executive (President), and Judiciary (Supreme Court). Each one of the branches is given a duty to fulfill. If one branch doesn t fulfill its duties, the other branches can force that branch to fulfill it. There is another system that helps these branches of government to check on each other and limit each other s powers. It is called Checks and Balances. It helps each branch to limit the power of the other. Each branch has specific duties. The Legislative branch is made to create or repeal laws. The Executive branch executes and enforces the law and the Judiciary branch interprets the laws. The Separation of Powers prevents the power going to one branch. The system prevents the abuse of the power given to each of the branches. The system was used to limit the power of one branch for a reason, now it is used to make obstacles for bills that will help the citizens of this country. The Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances can be seen in action, when a new bill is getting purposed, treaty is being made and when declaring the war against the foreign nation. When a bill get purposed to become a law, it shows all three branches fulfilling their duties. The bill goes through various phases before becoming a law. For instance, if Congress comes up
  • 41. Indigenous People And The Media Indigenous Studies is a very interesting unit as I am able to learn and discover more in depth about Indigenous People. However, the lecture that got me into deep thoughts was on Indigenous People and the Media. I kept asking myself; why do we view people that way? Why is it we change impressions when it s a different race to ours? Now thinking back, I ve come to realise that media has a big influence to our everyday lives. Indigenous Australiansin media are not highly recognised for positive news. The way the media interprets sources of information about the Indigenous Peopleshas change the views on what we think of them. Now this has become a huge effect on the Indigenous Peoples as it lead to stereotyping, racism and discrimination.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mainstream media tends to focus on the negative side about Indigenous Peoples like the problems and the relationship between the Indigenous Peoples and the public (McCallum, Waller, 2013). Educational systems are the same, as the students learn more on the negative history of the Indigenous Peoples instead of the contemporary arts and performances of Aboriginal history. This leads to the view of many Indigenous children feeling outcast as people stereotype on their race when they don t (Salote Bovoro, 2008, citied in Korff, 2016). We cannot deny that everyone stereotypes, including myself but I have become more aware that I should think before I do or say something. I was taught in previous years that I should ask myself, what if someone said that to you, how would you feel? That s the same with Indigenous Peoples, they don t want to be treated that way because yes, everyone is different, but we don t need to point it out and criticise about it. RACISM/DISCRIMINATION As the unit is about Indigenous Peoples, people thinks that this is the most sensitive topic as people tend to think before they say something, unlike how they describe people who are the same as them. During the lecture on People and Media , it was a discussion where we were to describe the picture that is shown to us. For the first half, it showed pictures of the everyday lifestyle of ordinary Non Indigenous People, whilst the other half were the Indigenous
  • 42. Importance Of Generalist Approach In Social Work Applying the Generalist Practice Approach to Social Work with Child Advocacy Centers The basic foundation of the generalist practice approach began in the early 1900 s. By the 1960 s, the generalist approach started evolving into the description of individuals who had the abilities to work at different practice levels ranging from individual to community (Schatz et al, 1990). In the mid 1970 s, the core curriculum for the generalist practice social worker was generated. In 1987, Schatz and Jenkins conducted a study and created a generalist practice model to help show the connection between, basic generalist, advanced generalist and specialist practices in social work (Schatz et al, 1990). The study also aided to define the differences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of the specialist practice approach would be a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). He or she specializes in mental health and focuses mainly on this aspect of the field. The LICSW uses the generalist practice approach while practicing in their focused field. Today, the generalist practice approach and specialist practice approach are the approaches used in the social work field (Morales et al., 2015). Both of these approaches take a holistic approach to help the client by using the client s strengths, competencies, and outside resources (Cody Lehmann, 2008). Both generalists and specialists form a relationship with the client that allows the client to become empowered. This empowerment permits the client to take control of his or her situation as well as their success in overcoming the issue at hand (Cody Lehmann, 2008). Social workers in both forms of practice utilize the strengths perspective. This perspective uses the client s strengths in order to come to a solution to the client s issues (Morales et al., 2008). Each approach utilizes research based methods and looks for the best approach for each individual at that time while applying the strengths perspective (Morales et al., 2015). Now that both the specialist and generalist practice approaches have been discussed, how does this apply in my current field of practice? Before we determine this, we need to look at the history of the

Lab Report On Carbonate To find moles of carbonate we needed to first determine the total alkalinity with HCL 0.1 M as the titrant, meaning that the end point indicates the complete conversion of bicarbonate and carbonate to carbonic acid. Indicator bromocresol green (BG) was used to observe this end point since the range at which this end point will occur will exist in the slightly more acidic portion of the pHscale covered by BG. This total alkalinity is given by (2[CO32 ]+[HCO3 ] )=VHCl[HCl] where VHCL is the volume from our standard HCl used in titration. Afterwards, we can determine the concentration of bicarbonateby performing the steps outlined in the procedure to begin converting the bicarbonate to carbonate, precipitating this carbonate, and thus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discussion We obtained a composition of 58 (В±5.1) wt% Na2CO3 and 42 (В±8.3) wt% NaHCO3 for the unknown solid analyzed in this experiment. Although the accuracy of these results cannot be fully evaluated, since we do not have a known composition concentration to compare, we must assume that there was some contribution of error, especially given the somewhat large errors observed. One possible source is a miscalculation of the volumes or concentrations obtained from the results due to exposure of CO2 in our titrants and solutions which, as discussed in the previous lab report, can make our solution more acidic than what the nature of the experiment requires.2 Therefore, different volumes of standard HCl would be necessary for titration. A simple solution for this issue would have been boiling the distilled water to expel carbon dioxide from the stock solutions. Additionally, the stock solutions may also be responsible for some of this error. Besides having stock solutions available for the entire class, which may cause cross contamination and mishandling of the stock solutions, the stock solution needed to be replenished multiple times, thus providing the possibility of preparing a solution with a different molarity. Moreover, at one point all 0.1 M NaOH had been expended, and the only option available was to use a solution of 0.08 M NaOH for further experiments. This was
