Buggy Essay
Introduction For this project, the groups with 5 people were expected to just design while groups of
7 people were to design and build a buggy system powered by wind that could potentially be ridden
on different types of terrain such as an open grass field, a beach, sand dunes, icy field (frozen lake)
or a snow field. The wind power will be captured with a kite that can vary in size and shape,
depending on not just the weight of the rider, the weight and size of the buggy but also wind speed.
The buggy should be designed and built in such a way that the rider can choose to simply ride it on a
straight and curved pathway. In addition, the rider should be able to make the buggy make wide and
sharp turns in different directions. The buggy should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theoretical background for the project will be stated. The design process for the buggy system
as well as a detailed manufacturing procedure of the prototype will then be described. An
interpretation of the results from the design process will then be presented. The figures, tables &
graphs used will be compared against one another as well as compared against theoretical results.
Any issues stated during the design process will be addressed. The report will then summarize the
overall findings and then provide an appendix as well as all figures, tables &

The System Development Life Cycle Framework
Prior to Zachman, organizations often introduced information systems technology in direct response
to a perceived need by the organization such as the automation of a particular job function (Bernard,
2011). As Bernard notes, this became increasingly problematic as organizations evolved as did their
need for integration and communication between their system implementations. Systems developed
to meet business requirements on a case by case basis often using proprietary vendor products which
eventually led to heterogeneous collection of disharmonious systems (Bernard, 2011). Zachman
Framework Compared to the System Development Life Cycle Framework The most common
approach to developing a system during the time Zachman created his framework was the System
Development Life Cycle Framework (SDLC) (Collins, 2008, February). SDLC is typically divided
into five phases which are planning, analysis, detailed system design, implementation, and
maintenance (Coronel & Morris, 2015). Each of these phases is intended as a gate which must be
passed through before proceeding to the next (Coronel & Morris, 2015). With this structure in mind,
it should be clear that while it may be possible to revisit the planning phase during the analysis
phase, the converse would certainly not be possible. Consequently, this emphasizes perhaps the key
and fundamental difference between the two approaches. Even a cursory glimpse at the initial
Zachman (1987) framework would not reveal a series of

The Network Of Public Relations
In a way, theories are the backbone of Public Relations. There are many different functions of PR,
and most, if not all of them are involving appealing to or interacting with and organizations publics.
Be it employees, customers, or any other stakeholders, theories can be referenced applied to learn
now about your publics and help achieve your goals. Northern Kentucky University as an
organization attempting to begin a major transitional phase. The university is trying to attract new

Bring more in and keeping the ones we have to longer durations. Assuming the role as a PR
practitioner behind this plan and focusing so much on students and the internal environment at NKU
three theories relevant are Systems Theory, Social Exchange Theory, and Social Learning Theory.
Systems Theory presents the idea that all organizations and their "parts" are systems that exist in
relation to each other, and that the attitudes and actions of the different parts of the system affect not
only the other parts of the organization (or system), but the system as a whole as well. Systems
Theory presents two types of systems, open and closed. An open system reacts, listens to, and
embraces its publics, both internal and external, while a closed system doesn't acknowledge their
publics in decision making. A closed system takes note of past decisions and mainly examines the
past in decision making, not it's publics. When applied to my position at NKU as the practitioner, it
is important for me to keep in mind the importance of being an open system. For example, when
trying to attract new students it's beyond important to know what these potential students are
looking for in a college. NKU is not in the position to make decision based solely on past decision
and the history of the school because these potential students are not interested in

Safety And Gas Field Operations Facility And Review Work...
If I were to walk in to a randomly selected oil and gas field operations facility and review work
interactions and procedures for 15 minutes, would I be able to adequately address the safety culture
within the building? To add more information, let's say I was required to sign–in and was given a
quick evacuation briefing. Further, all employees were wearing appropriate PPE and "Safety First"
signs were prominently hung on the walls for all to see. With the given, after 15 minutes of work
observation, would I then be able to adequately make an observation? To bring this situational
scenario to a close, let's say the facility in question was my own Oklahoma City facility. The answer
regarding an adequate evaluation is I would only be observing the safety climate at that given time,
not the overall safety culture.
Safety culture has taken on many varieties of definitions since the term first appeared in 1986 but a
version I particularly identify with is as follows: "A set of values, perceptions, attitudes and patterns
of behavior with regard to safety shared by members of the organization; as well as a set of policies,
practices and procedures relating to the reduction of employee's exposure to occupational risks,
implemented at every level of the organization, and reflecting a high level of concern and
commitment to the prevention of accidents and illnesses." (Fernandez–Muniz et al., 2007, p. 628)
As noted above in the facility observation scenario, it was the safety climate

Agricultural Revolution DBQ Essay
Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth century, a lack of a consistent and reliable food supply in
Britain led to a rise in prices that threatened the lives of many poor British people; the poor could
not obtain food regularly due to the rise in food prices and thus, only could survive through charity.
On the other hand, the rise in prices put landlords in better financial situations and caused them to
make innovations in farming to further increase their agricultural profit; these innovations in
farming became known as the Agricultural Revolution. The Agricultural Revolution impacted the
society of Great Britain through an increase in food production, a decrease in food prices, and an
increase in the amount of enclosures.
The Agricultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the eighteenth century, British landlords transitioned from the open field system to
enclosures because many agricultural innovations were incompatible with the former and so that
they could farm more effectively. Enclosures put more land under cultivation and thus, more food
was produced. Furthermore, as Document 6 shows, enclosures were easier to cultivate and improve
than the open–field system because they required less labor to do so. Less labor was required
because, unlike with the open–field system, products on enclosures did not grow past their restricted
land and animals could not roam into different enclosures. Throughout Document 6, Thomas Brown,
the author, declares that those who neglect enclosures have done so on a superficial basis because he
believes that enclosures, in fact, ignite the development of agriculture and increase the availability
of jobs. Document 6 shows that enclosures required capital to be placed into agriculture and that
through that capital, an abundance of food was made possible. Finally, from this abundance of food,
more hands were required for work. The open–field system discouraged improvement, whereas
enclosures did, and as a result, constant improvement required more people to

Open Source Philosophy
The History and Philosophy of Open Source
The open source movement was born in 1984, at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab when Richard
M. Stallman quit his position at the university to begin the GNU Project. Having grown tired of
seeing his colleagues being hired off by corporations and signing nondisclosure agreements for their
work, he set off to create a completely free, open operating system. Though he specialized in the
field, building such a system from the ground up is nearly impossible for a single person; thus, he
began with a more attainable goal, creating a C compiler. Though he was successful in this, he never
managed to create a kernel (the core of an operating system), aside from GNU Hurd, of which we do
not speak. Fortunately for the movement, one would later emerge with a similar philosophy. Around
1991, the GNU Project had amassed a respectable number of software packages, including the
widely used GCC and Emacs, though it still lacked the core, a kernel. Then, more than six thousand
kilometers away, a twenty–one–year–old Finnish university student began developing a small, open
source system as a hobby. Once the open source community became interested in it, what started as
a small project capable of little more than displaying text quickly morphed into one of the most
widely–distributed pieces of software in history, containing more than twenty million lines of code,
contributed to by tens of thousands of developers across the globe, and with

Organization Structure and Inter–Organizational Dependency:
The Environmental Imperative
Contingency theory and Systems theory are the two dominant theories that bring out the link
between organization structure and the environment. Systems theory has evolved over time and
undergone several transitions.
This study tries to provide a more meaningful understanding about closed and open systems by
linking with the object–observer model from physics. Additionally, the paper gives a finer view of
the implications of the environment on the organization. It also captures several other areas like the
role of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organizational environment is not dealt as it is not a part of the external environment.
Open vs. Closed Systems
The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which
was diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on
the concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of
the environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the
forefront. Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially
closed system gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2.
It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of
organization is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer and
an object. The behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics
associated with the behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the
object systems. However, different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The same
theory argues that process is any activity that involves change which is measured by duration,
succession and co–existence. Thus, only open and closed systems are of importance and were
considered for the study of organizations. The other two quadrants were between the two

after the success of these inventions led to more food and less disease. First, an enclosure is a private
plot of land owned by the landlord who hires landless workers to tend to the crops and animals on

The Communication Structure Of A Geographically...
The purpose of the research article (article) is to explore three specific topics regarding the
communication structure of a geographically distributed software development team: the observable
behavior of the organization in reference to Conway's law, difficulties encountered by
geographically distributed teams, and potential solutions for these difficulties. Conway's law
suggests that the resulting product of an organization will take on characteristics of the
organization's communication systems. This would suggest that a large geographically segregated
team, which faces communication barriers as a result, would produce a product reflective of the
barriers.
The article states that geographically distributed teams will face difficulty in the exchange of
information. Teams must use a common language, with agreed upon attributes. These types of teams
develop software systems individually, which must then work together. This would require great
coordination through effective communication. The article makes the point that Conway's law
dictates that teams coordinate their efforts, while Frederick Brooks suggests that this is not so easy
to achieve. Advancement in communication technologies has helped to tackle some of the
communication barriers that distributed teams face. The article justifies the study by stating that
existing research is not clear on the benefits of applying Conway's law to this specific situation.
In order to address this knowledge gap, a study was

The world of robotics has dramatically expanded in the past hundred years, leading to increased
explorations into whether robots are largely beneficial or detrimental to society. There are those who
say robotics can be used to achieve the impossible, to perfect existing methods and narrow down the
potential for risk, or to make life easier. On the other hand, there are plenty of cons that are a cause
for concern when it comes to robots that are just now coming to the light, previously never having

have been greatly improved due to reduced pain, less scarring and blood loss, and quicker recovery
times. While Stirling provides ample persuasive evidence for his claim that DRSS is largely
successful, I would include additional substantiation. He left out invaluable statistics that are
provided on DRSS 's main website daVinci Surgery, such as the fact that DRSS has been used
successfully in about 1.5 million surgeries. Furthermore, daVinci Surgery informs that their robotic
surgical system is currently the number one choice for women afflicted with gynecologic cancer,
and it is also used in 4 out of 5 prostatectomy surgeries. These statistics combined with Stirling 's
article provide the ultimate proof that robots have truly become integrated in the medical field with
great success. Despite the tremendous success in implementing robots in the medical field, there is a
considerable risk and cause for concern when it comes to their technical security. Medical devices
are consistently released to the public with little to no security control ingrained in the software.

The Definition Of Rational Thought
There are several different types of ways of thinking, which undergoes diverse processes. One of the
approaches is rational thought, which is one of the key factors to science (Gauch, 2003). The science
is a particular area proving theories by reasoning (Giere, Bickle, and Mauldin, 2006). Whilst there
have been several examinations related to means people think rationally, it seems to be important to
understand what rational thought is; furthermore, the approach can be an influential factor in
academic fields. In this essay, the domain, Urban Design, will be examined as a sample. Before
examining how rational thought is employed in Urban Design field, this essay will describe the
definition of rational thought.
When people think, there are two types of ways of thinking; System 1 and System 2 (Kahneman,
2012). He states that System 1, called fast thinking, is decision–making process without an explicit
evaluation, through the process, an idea would be produced intuitively, which is unconscious,
uncontrolled and almost effortless. Besides, Dewey (1933) described tree types of thinking
approaches as effortless means. One of them is unconscious thinking, which is applied in the
situations: being sleep and awake, it is considered that there would be not much or important or
helpful production of this type of thinking. Another one is imagining thinking, which does not exist,
is not an object. The imagination can result in a conclusion for thinker; nonetheless, it is not always

There are four contemporary approaches to management: sociotechnical systems theory, quantitative
management, organizational behavior, and systems theory.
The sociotechnical systems theory was first proven to the U.S. to be effective by the Japanese in the
late 1980s, and it expresses that management should focus on making sure that they have well
trained employees with the right tools and knowledge for the job. In this sense, the employees can
put their heads together and produce innovative products in a productive manner, creating business
success. However, quantitative management takes tides a different direction. It suggests that to be a

Lastly, there's the own business's internal environment it has to worry about. How well can it handle
holding its organizations culture, while the managers and employees continue to effectively turn
resources into profits. All of the approaches to management are relevant to the three environments.
Most certainly with its internal environment, which includes the managers and employees.
Organizational behavior immediately addresses to resolving its internal environment's issues by
taking management to a psychological level to increase productivity. Taken positive attitudes to a
different level.
However all companies must be aware of these three environments in order to be successful.
Therefore, all four approaches to management needs to understand and flow with the changes in the
environments. Systems theory is one contemporary approach that immediately takes these
contingencies into consideration with its form of managing. Therefore success in the environments
is achievable by that form of management, yet there are still economic factors that can affect all
businesses. The market system is like a circuit board, when a business is introduces it becomes an

The Haut Glacier D ' Arolla
Introduction
A model is a representation of reality, designed to generate outputs from inputs in an attempt to
understand system behaviour (Jones and Gomez, 2010). Many geographers refer to a model by the
classic definition from Kolars and Haggett, 1967: "a simplified version of reality, built in order to
demonstrate certain of the properties of reality". Models are often known as analogies which is a
'relationship of similarity between two things, a likeness in some function, effect, or circumstance'
(Andrews, 1987). Analogue models are only one distinguished in physical geography. Conceptual,
physical and mathematical models are also used (Jones and Gomez, 2010).
Arnold et al., 1998 investigates the behaviour of the Haut Glacier d'Arolla in Valais, Switzerland to
predict and explain how glacier drainage systems function. Barron and Washington, 1984, Cox et
al., 2000 and Gildor and Tziperman, 2001 all used a form of climate models. Barron and
Washington, 1984 aimed to explore past climatic change, by investigating the surface temperature
sensitivity by comparing present and cretaceous simulations. Similarly, Gildor and Tziperman, 2001
used a conceptual box model to investigate past climate change, based on oscillations of climate
systems. Cox et al., 2000 also used a climate model, however focussed on future climatic change,
rather than past. The final paper, by Burt and Butcher, 1986 uses a simple rainfall run–off model to
explore the hillslope run–off system.

Ignition Systems:
New and Old

Ignitions systems in motor vehicles have evolved in the past thirty years. Points was a simple
concept but was not reliable and needed adjustment and replacement of components seemed
constant. Today a magnetic sensor relays a signal to the computer which in turn sends the voltage to
the selected cylinder to ignite the fuel/air mixture. There are not mechanical parts to fail or become
corroded and brittle. There are many different parts to an ignition system. These parts differ between
modern and old ignition systems. There is a coil. Sometimes one coil provides the increased voltage

When the ignition switch is placed in the "start" position, the solenoid windings are energized and
the resulting shift lever movement causes the drive pinion gear to engage the flywheel ring gear, and
cranking takes place. When the engine starts, an overrunning clutch (part of the drive assembly)
protects the armature from too much speed until the switch is opened. At this time, a return spring
causes the pinion gear to disengage from the flywheel.
The spark plug wire carries 20,000 or more volts from the distributor cap to the spark plug. Spark
plug wires are made of various layers of materials. The fiber core, inside the spark plug wire carries
the high voltage. The older design of spark plug wires used a metallic wire to carry the high voltage.
This caused electrical interference with the radio and TV reception. Some spark plug wires have a
locking connection at the distributor cap. The distributor cap must first be removed and the
terminals be squeezed together, and then the spark plug wire can be removed from the distributor
cap. To reduce interference with radio and TV reception, ignition systems are provided with
resistance in the secondary circuit. Resistor spark plugs or special resistor type ignition cable may be
used. To work effectively in modern ignition systems, it is important that the resistor ignition cable
is capable of producing a specifically designed resistance. The cable must also have enough
insulation so that

Today a high percentage of the arrests done by law enforcement are from seized evidence that was

items that are within the sight of a police officer who is legally in a place from which the view is
made may properly be seized without a warrant as long as such items are immediately recognizable
as subject to seizure (Criminal Procedure: Law and Practice 2004). In other instances police can also

The officer walked over to the wall and was able to see two juveniles in a fistfight. Their clothes
were ripped, their eyes swollen, and their faces were bleeding. The officer entered the property
through an open gate and broke up the fight. The officer observed several plastic baggies containing
a white powdery substance on a patio table. The officer called the boys' parents walking towards the
patio's screen door. A woman, dressed in a nightgown exited the house and immediately started
explaining the baggies on the table. The officer then arrested the woman for possession of narcotics.
After the backyard was secured the other officer continued to the location where the purse was
drooped. As he retrieved the purse the officer observed marihuana cigarettes among its spilled
contents. The officer seized the evidence and arrested the purse's owner.
The scenario is self explanatory and covers in my opinion both doctrines in at list one of the
situations. When the officers were walking back to recover the purse one of the officers heard
screaming. He approached the area where the screams were coming from and observed a crime
being committed in his presence which was fight between two juveniles. The first requirement of the

Social Medi A Functional Analysis Approach
In today's society where social media has become an increasingly popular form of communication
for organizations to interact with its public, Amy Reitz, Senior Market Insights Manager at Hewlett–
Packard wrote her article Social Media's Function in Organization: a Functional Analysis Approach
while she was an assistant Professor at the University of Northern Colorado. Amy claims that
"organizations can function better with an open systems approach to public relations by employing
social media, allowing for a greater chance at survival than organizations that function as a closed
system (Reitz, 2012, p.41, para.1)." Author Amy Reitz took several theories into consideration in the
development of this paper, but ultimately decided that a functional analysis approach best described
that organizations would benefit better as an open system with help from using social media. The
main claim the author tries to convey is, "organizations can function better with an open systems
approach to public relations by employing social media, allowing for a greater chance at survival
than organizations that function as a closed system (Reitz, 2012, p.41, para.1)." The article's main
goal is to suggest that organizations will function better by using social media, which will ultimately
help the organization function better as an open system. The author supports this by taking into
consideration four functions in which social media will help the system of an organization. These
include:

Unit I Assignment: Open System Interconnection Reference Model
As we all know, the growth of computer networks continues to rapidly grow. The digital revolution
has changed the way we work and communicate almost beyond recognition. Provided that,
foreseeing the changes and potential compatibility problems, in the mid nineteen eighties, the
international standard organization (ISO) developed a networking reference model to standardize
how network systems communicate with each other. It is a logical model for how network systems
are supposed to communicate with each other. It breaks down the different components of the
network communication and puts them into layers which reduce complexity. This reference model
consists of seven layers: Application Layer, Presentation Layer, Session Layer, Transport Layer,
Network Layer, Data Link Layer, and the Physical Layer. Each layer provides a service to the layer
above it in the protocol specification and then communicates with the same layer's software or
hardware on other computers. It's important to realize, that these layers are separated into 2 sets:
Transportation Set (Laters 1– 4) and Application Set (Layers 5 – 7). More importantly, the OSI
model is 7 logical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Application layer within the OSI reference model is where the application and the user
communicates. In other words, the application layer is the ending of data that is transferred in visual
form to the user. This layer provides the interface between the applications we use to communicate
and the underlying network over which our messages are transmitted. The Application Layer
functions are to provide the interface for application–specific protocols commonly used such as
HyperText Transfer (HTTP), file transfer (FTP), Simple mail transfer (SMTP), Internet message

How Did The Agricultural Revolution Affect Europe
The Agricultural Revolution had an enormous impact on Europe, particularly in England and the
Netherlands. There were many ideas of how to improve agriculture and eliminate subsistence living.
A few key individuals paved the way for the agricultural revolution. These people included Viscount
Charles Townsend, Jethro Tull and Cornelius Vermuyden. The aforementioned individuals
developed ideas that were crucial to the Agricultural revolution. The essential components of the
Agricultural Revolution during the 17th and 18th centuries in Europe included improvements in
farming, pertaining to the Open Field System, the implementation of enclosure and an increased
availability of farmland; A lot of this had to do with the leadership and guidance of ... Show more

There was the removal of the Open Field System, a removal of the fallow year and the introduction
of nitrogen supplying crops. Not to mention that there were significant increases in the number of
livestock, production and farmland (because of drainage). The Agricultural Revolution can be
compared to the Scientific Revolution in Europe that occurred years before the Agricultural
Revolution. During the Scientific Revolution there were many changes in people's way of thinking.
For example, Copernicus revolutionized new outlooks by introducing a heliocentric view, this was
later solidified as true by Johannes Kepler. Kepler proved Copernicus' views by establishing the 3
Laws of Planetary Motion. Another great scholar of the Scientific Revolution was Galileo Galilei
who challenged ideas regarding motion. Taking all of these great minds into account it is clear that
the Scientific Revolution urged a belief in learning, investigation and experimentation. This very
thought process is applicable to the Agricultural Revolution that occurred years later. During the
Agricultural Revolution great minds such as Viscount Charles Townsend, Jethro Tull and Cornelius

overwhelming reliance on the supplier of the system. Open software systems have gained popularity
because of the interoperability they bring to the system. Interoperability is the ability to mix
different manufacturers' equipment on the same system.
Citect and WonderWare are just two of the open software packages available in the market for
SCADA systems. Some packages are now including asset management integrated within the
SCADA system. The typical components of a SCADA system are indicated in the next diagram.

SCADA and local area networks
Local area networks (LAN) are all about sharing information and resources. To enable all the nodes
on the SCADA network to share information, they must be connected by some transmission
medium. The method of connection is known as the network topology.
Nodes need to share this transmission medium in such a way as to allow all nodes access to the
medium without disrupting an established sender.
A LAN is a communication path between computers, file–servers, terminals, workstations, and
various other intelligent peripheral equipments, which are generally referred to as devices or hosts.
A LAN allows access for devices to be shared by several users, with full connectivity between all
stations on the network. A LAN is usually owned and administered by a private owner and is located

Electrical Device Between Two Circuit Through...
INTRODUCTION
The transformer is an electrical device which transfers energy between two circuit through
electromagnetic induction. Transformer may be used as a safe and efficient voltage changer to
change the Alternating Current voltage at it's input to a higher and lower voltage at its output
without changing it's frequency. Other uses include current conversion, isolation with or without
changing impedance and voltage conversion. A transformer consists of two windings of wire that are
wound around a common core and it provides tight electromagnetic coupling between the windings
and makes a couple. The core material is may be of a laminated iron core. The coil that receives the
electrical input energy is referred to as primary winding, the output coil is secondary winding. An
alternating current flows through the primary winding coil of a transformer generates
electromagnetic field which varies in its surroundings and induces a varying magnetic flux in the
core of a transformer. The electromagnetic field varies in the vicinity of the secondary winding
induces an electromotive force in a secondary winding and appears as a voltage across the output
terminals. If a load is connected across the secondary winding, a current flows through the
secondary winding and drawing power from the primary winding and its power source. A
transformer cannot operate with direct current(DC). When connected to a Direct Current source, a
transformer typically produces a very short output

Open Systems
Why Open Systems Theory?: The open systems approach has been chosen to study the above issues
because it has been commended for its potential usefulness in "synthesizing and analyzing
complexity" (Simon, 1969) in "live" organizations. Comprehension of a system cannot be achieved
without a constant study of the forces that impinge upon it (Katz and Kahn, 1966). Leavitt, Pinfield
and Webb (1974) also recommended an open– systems approach for studying contemporary
organizations which now exist in a fast–changing and turbulent environment. Ramstrom (1974)
propounds increased emphasis on systems thinking to comprehend the increased interdependencies
between the system and its environment, and between the various parts of the system. Classical ...

of Emery & Trist, L22 relations which they labelled as "turbulent field," i.e., the "interdependencies

by complexity as well as rapidity of change in causal interconnections in the environment. Table 1
[The Environment–Organization Interaction Matrix] Developing on the work of Emery and Trist,
Terreberry (1968) concluded that an increasing number of organizational systems find themselves in
environments of the fourth type [characterized by L22 processes]. She described turbulent situation
as one in which the accelerating rate and complexity of interactive effects exceeds the capacities of
prediction of the organizational systems which make up the environment and hence, these systems
tend to lose control of the compounding consequences of their actions. Terreberry's turbulent
environment parallels "dynamic– complex" environment of Duncan (1972),

when I'm hired as a Probation Officer I can use the new skills I acquired as an intern to get more
things done both effectively and efficiently. Also, I think with my increased understanding of the
criminal justice system will help me with my future academic achievements. After graduation, I plan

The Pc And Its Operating Systems
The PC and its Operating Systems The information technology field is a field that covers a vast
amount of technologies and ideas that have evolved to be much more than what they were during
the infancy of the technology movement. Perhaps the greatest innovator and most recognizable face
of the field is Bill Gates, the creator of the Windows operating system. Windows revolutionized the
way the public interacted with their personal computers and catapulted the devices into the majority
of American's homes. Running counter to Windows, and taking a completely open source route for
ease of access and distribution is Windows rival Linux. Linux has a very different approach to how
the PC should operate and had a number of different versions that are tailored to individual user's
needs. All of these different operating systems have at least one thing in common however. The
ability to run on a personal computer. The personal computer, or PC, the personal computer is a
general–purpose computer that make it useful for individuals and are intended to be operated by an
end user. Bill Gates was born October 28th, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. Gates showed an early
interest in the world of computing, writing his first software program at age 13 and helping a group
of programmers computerize their schools payroll system ("Encyclopedia Brittanica"). Taking his
love and interest for the world of computing even further, Gates created his first company Traf–O–

Robotic Surgery Essay
The Uprising of Robotic Surgery
The newest surgical procedure
As the years pass, technology is advancing rapidly in many different areas, particularly in medicine.
Just 15 years ago, people did not have access to the medical technology available today. Patients are
operated on differently and the medical field is continuously advancing to ensure the safest and
fasted way to perform a surgery and decrease the recovery time that follows. In recent years, the use
of robotics in surgery has grown extensively. The implementation of robotic surgery has impacted
the technological advancements in medicine by providing surgery in a more advanced way such as
being more accurate and precise, providing less visual cosmetic scars on the body, and being cost
effective.
Background Information "Robotic surgery is the use of a mechanical device to assist surgery in
place of a human–being or in a human–like way" (Tang). The origin of robotic surgery has been
documented back to 1985 when a robotic surgical arm called PUMA 560 was used in a
neurosurgical biopsy ("History"). The surgery was successful and was minimally invasive; this leads
to further advancements and replications of the surgical system. In 2000, the first robotic surgery
system was approved by the FDA for general laparoscopic surgery – it was named the da Vinci
surgery system ("History"). The da Vinci is used in both adult and pediatrics it the following areas
for surgery: urological, general laparoscopic, General

Analyzing The Electromechanical Valve And The Benefits...
CAMLESS ENGINES AND THE BENEFITS THEY PRODUCE
The authors of the reviewed article are: Marcello Montanari, Fabio Ronchi, Carlo Rossi, and Alberto
Tonielli, all of whom are members of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
Marcello Montanari received the Laurea degree in computer science, engineering, and a Ph.D. in
automatic control from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, in 1999 and 2003. Since 2000, he
has been with the Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (DEIS), University of
Bologna. His current research interests include applied nonlinear and adaptive control techniques,
electric drives, and automotive systems. His co–authors are also graduates of the University of
Bologna and are members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SUMMARY
In Montanari's article first, he addresses and formulates the problem. Second, he creates a
mathematical model of the system, and analyzes the requirements for the controlled system. Third,
he completes the position reconstruction and the analysis of the sensors. Lastly the reference of
trajectories for the pistons, to ensure the stability of the system, is completed. After all this
Montanari proposes a control system architecture for the position control of an electromechanical
valve actuator. There are two key parts of the controller, specifically, the position reconstruction, and
the reference trajectory design. Both of these have been addressed, and the resulting limitations on
the system's dynamic performance explained. Knowledge of these limitations is essential when
integrating a valve actuation system within the internal combustion engine management system.
Hence, the results presented in this paper are an important step toward the realization of a Camless
engine with electromechanical actuators for commercial vehicles.
Camless engines offer a lot of improvements over traditional engines in efficiency, maximum torque
and power, and emissions. Electromechanical valve (EMV) actuators are a great way to solve this
problem, but electromechanical valves have major

Traumatic Human Development In The Movie Boyz N The Hood
The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents' lives was
affected negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an environment
where drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a predominantly
African American community these adolescents were faced with many misfortunes. Ricky one of
the adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this particular paper was faced with
adversity. Ricky as a character displayed the effects of understanding the traumatic human
development and normal human development. Traumatic human development is when one is open
to danger and violence. One can be open to traumatic development directly or indirectly on a
centered foundation. Ricky environment exposed him negativity. A majority of the negativity that
Ricky is exposed to is gun violence, gangs, drugs and other negativity as well. Due to his
environment being looked down upon and him being an African American male from a certain area
of Los Angeles town he was viewed upon negatively by society. For instance, a scene from the
movie dictates Tre and Ricky is pulled over by cops. The cops, one African American the main cop
posed Tre and Ricky as a threat to society. Being harassed by the cop made Tre and Ricky feel as
though they had no place in of belonging in that part of Los Angeles town. By Ricky being an
African American male it was difficult enough for him to be successful in his environment. Ricky
was not as fortunate to have the resources he needed. He was limited to many resources but, his
limitation did not interfere with him having normal development. The theories that can mainly be
relative to this movie, as well as the character Ricky, are person–in–environment, systems theory,
and cultural theory (Newman and Newman 2012). The first theory that can be associated with
character Ricky is the person–in–environment theory. Person in environment theory had some
effects on Ricky. Ricky's environment consisted of drugs, gangs, and even murders. His
environment did not shape who Ricky was. His environment was his motivation to escape. Unlike
his brother Doughboy whom had gotten comfortable in the environment of his

Why would you want to change your coordinate reference system during any analysis? Remember
that a coordinate reference system is a special type (and thought of as a key component) of the

The difference between a coordinate reference system and a projection (transformation) are that a

their ability to overcome hardships in the past..." (Arnold, 2008, p. 1) In the strengths perspective,
the strengths of a person to resist the stressor and problem areas in their lives are what the focus is

The open system leaves the door open for better communication. The open system focuses on the
organization and the external possibilities while the closed focuses on internal possibilities when
problems occur. The open system is influenced by the environment, which also causes weaknesses
in the structure since every day there is change. Environmental changes cause organizational
changes. The close system in an organization shows organized structure and order, however, lack
structural mobility ("Open Versus Closed Systems," n.d.).
The recommended changes to improve the structure of the Department of Homeland Security would

Implementing Complex Protocols On The Network System
Introduction:–
In the present computer networks are being built by implementing complex protocols on an array of
network devices such as routers, switches and middleware like ISD intrusion detection systems and
firewalls systems. In order to allow the network to be modified to the changing environment, the
network Administrator have to manually configures all new configuration policies by converting
them into the low level commands that are supported by the system. Companies need to depend on
the network vendors in order to deal with the problems related to security, scalability, manageability
and other issues. Many efforts have been done to make the network programmable even before the
SDN. Some of those are Forces (2003), Routing Control Platform (2004), Ethane (2007), and Open
Flow (2008).
Main body:–
Network technology passed many stapes to reach the advance level it is now a days. The first step
was how to control a packet–switched network which started the project Forces which was
implemented in 2003. It has Protocols for multiple control elements and forwarding elements, the
project failed because it requires standardization, adoption, deployment of new hardware. After the
failure of Forces a new project have been applied called Routing Control Platform (RCP) which was
implemented in 2004.The RCP computes routes on behalf of routers, the RCP uses existing routing
protocol (BGP) to communicate routes to routers. The RCP Convert the best route of internal

How Technology Has Affected Healthcare
Our world runs on technology. The introduction of the home personal computer and the internet
launched our society to a modernized, technology–depended community. Vast array of information
are available to us every minute of every day. If any of us have a question that we needed the answer
to, all we have to do is use Bing or Google or some other search engine and search for the answer. It
is so easy now to obtain information. Furthermore, technology has greatly affected healthcare. Due
to the technological advances in medicine, our society has the longest life span in history. Illnesses
such as infections, wounds and other ailments that used to be fatal can now be cured by simply
ingesting medicine. An aspect of medicine that is gradually becoming the focus of technological
advancement is surgery. Surgeries can now be performed with the help of robots. The utilization of
these robotic surgical systems is one of the main controversial issues many physicians debate about.
The uncertainty as to what extent technology should influence medicine makes this issue interesting.
Robotic surgery was first imagined from the idea that surgeons can operate on a patient without
being in the same room, which was explored by NASA and the military in the 1970s and 1980s. The
first ever surgery system that uses robotic technology is the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci
Surgical System was approved by the FDA in 2000. This system includes a camera arm and
mechanical arms with surgical

Buggy Essay

  • 1. Buggy Essay Introduction For this project, the groups with 5 people were expected to just design while groups of 7 people were to design and build a buggy system powered by wind that could potentially be ridden on different types of terrain such as an open grass field, a beach, sand dunes, icy field (frozen lake) or a snow field. The wind power will be captured with a kite that can vary in size and shape, depending on not just the weight of the rider, the weight and size of the buggy but also wind speed. The buggy should be designed and built in such a way that the rider can choose to simply ride it on a straight and curved pathway. In addition, the rider should be able to make the buggy make wide and sharp turns in different directions. The buggy should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theoretical background for the project will be stated. The design process for the buggy system as well as a detailed manufacturing procedure of the prototype will then be described. An interpretation of the results from the design process will then be presented. The figures, tables & graphs used will be compared against one another as well as compared against theoretical results. Any issues stated during the design process will be addressed. The report will then summarize the overall findings and then provide an appendix as well as all figures, tables & ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The System Development Life Cycle Framework Prior to Zachman, organizations often introduced information systems technology in direct response to a perceived need by the organization such as the automation of a particular job function (Bernard, 2011). As Bernard notes, this became increasingly problematic as organizations evolved as did their need for integration and communication between their system implementations. Systems developed to meet business requirements on a case by case basis often using proprietary vendor products which eventually led to heterogeneous collection of disharmonious systems (Bernard, 2011). Zachman Framework Compared to the System Development Life Cycle Framework The most common approach to developing a system during the time Zachman created his framework was the System Development Life Cycle Framework (SDLC) (Collins, 2008, February). SDLC is typically divided into five phases which are planning, analysis, detailed system design, implementation, and maintenance (Coronel & Morris, 2015). Each of these phases is intended as a gate which must be passed through before proceeding to the next (Coronel & Morris, 2015). With this structure in mind, it should be clear that while it may be possible to revisit the planning phase during the analysis phase, the converse would certainly not be possible. Consequently, this emphasizes perhaps the key and fundamental difference between the two approaches. Even a cursory glimpse at the initial Zachman (1987) framework would not reveal a series of ... • 5. The Network Of Public Relations In a way, theories are the backbone of Public Relations. There are many different functions of PR, and most, if not all of them are involving appealing to or interacting with and organizations publics. Be it employees, customers, or any other stakeholders, theories can be referenced applied to learn now about your publics and help achieve your goals. Northern Kentucky University as an organization attempting to begin a major transitional phase. The university is trying to attract new students, while ensuring the success of current students, all the while attempting to change the school's image as a small local school, to a big state university. Bring more in and keeping the ones we have to longer durations. Assuming the role as a PR practitioner behind this plan and focusing so much on students and the internal environment at NKU three theories relevant are Systems Theory, Social Exchange Theory, and Social Learning Theory. Systems Theory presents the idea that all organizations and their "parts" are systems that exist in relation to each other, and that the attitudes and actions of the different parts of the system affect not only the other parts of the organization (or system), but the system as a whole as well. Systems Theory presents two types of systems, open and closed. An open system reacts, listens to, and embraces its publics, both internal and external, while a closed system doesn't acknowledge their publics in decision making. A closed system takes note of past decisions and mainly examines the past in decision making, not it's publics. When applied to my position at NKU as the practitioner, it is important for me to keep in mind the importance of being an open system. For example, when trying to attract new students it's beyond important to know what these potential students are looking for in a college. NKU is not in the position to make decision based solely on past decision and the history of the school because these potential students are not interested in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Safety And Gas Field Operations Facility And Review Work... If I were to walk in to a randomly selected oil and gas field operations facility and review work interactions and procedures for 15 minutes, would I be able to adequately address the safety culture within the building? To add more information, let's say I was required to sign–in and was given a quick evacuation briefing. Further, all employees were wearing appropriate PPE and "Safety First" signs were prominently hung on the walls for all to see. With the given, after 15 minutes of work observation, would I then be able to adequately make an observation? To bring this situational scenario to a close, let's say the facility in question was my own Oklahoma City facility. The answer regarding an adequate evaluation is I would only be observing the safety climate at that given time, not the overall safety culture. Safety culture has taken on many varieties of definitions since the term first appeared in 1986 but a version I particularly identify with is as follows: "A set of values, perceptions, attitudes and patterns of behavior with regard to safety shared by members of the organization; as well as a set of policies, practices and procedures relating to the reduction of employee's exposure to occupational risks, implemented at every level of the organization, and reflecting a high level of concern and commitment to the prevention of accidents and illnesses." (Fernandez–Muniz et al., 2007, p. 628) As noted above in the facility observation scenario, it was the safety climate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Agricultural Revolution DBQ Essay Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth century, a lack of a consistent and reliable food supply in Britain led to a rise in prices that threatened the lives of many poor British people; the poor could not obtain food regularly due to the rise in food prices and thus, only could survive through charity. On the other hand, the rise in prices put landlords in better financial situations and caused them to make innovations in farming to further increase their agricultural profit; these innovations in farming became known as the Agricultural Revolution. The Agricultural Revolution impacted the society of Great Britain through an increase in food production, a decrease in food prices, and an increase in the amount of enclosures. The Agricultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the eighteenth century, British landlords transitioned from the open field system to enclosures because many agricultural innovations were incompatible with the former and so that they could farm more effectively. Enclosures put more land under cultivation and thus, more food was produced. Furthermore, as Document 6 shows, enclosures were easier to cultivate and improve than the open–field system because they required less labor to do so. Less labor was required because, unlike with the open–field system, products on enclosures did not grow past their restricted land and animals could not roam into different enclosures. Throughout Document 6, Thomas Brown, the author, declares that those who neglect enclosures have done so on a superficial basis because he believes that enclosures, in fact, ignite the development of agriculture and increase the availability of jobs. Document 6 shows that enclosures required capital to be placed into agriculture and that through that capital, an abundance of food was made possible. Finally, from this abundance of food, more hands were required for work. The open–field system discouraged improvement, whereas enclosures did, and as a result, constant improvement required more people to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Open Source Philosophy The History and Philosophy of Open Source The open source movement was born in 1984, at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab when Richard M. Stallman quit his position at the university to begin the GNU Project. Having grown tired of seeing his colleagues being hired off by corporations and signing nondisclosure agreements for their work, he set off to create a completely free, open operating system. Though he specialized in the field, building such a system from the ground up is nearly impossible for a single person; thus, he began with a more attainable goal, creating a C compiler. Though he was successful in this, he never managed to create a kernel (the core of an operating system), aside from GNU Hurd, of which we do not speak. Fortunately for the movement, one would later emerge with a similar philosophy. Around 1991, the GNU Project had amassed a respectable number of software packages, including the widely used GCC and Emacs, though it still lacked the core, a kernel. Then, more than six thousand kilometers away, a twenty–one–year–old Finnish university student began developing a small, open source system as a hobby. Once the open source community became interested in it, what started as a small project capable of little more than displaying text quickly morphed into one of the most widely–distributed pieces of software in history, containing more than twenty million lines of code, contributed to by tens of thousands of developers across the globe, and with ... Organization Structure and Inter–Organizational Dependency: The Environmental Imperative Contingency theory and Systems theory are the two dominant theories that bring out the link between organization structure and the environment. Systems theory has evolved over time and undergone several transitions. This study tries to provide a more meaningful understanding about closed and open systems by linking with the object–observer model from physics. Additionally, the paper gives a finer view of the implications of the environment on the organization. It also captures several other areas like the role of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organizational environment is not dealt as it is not a part of the external environment. Open vs. Closed Systems The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which was diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on the concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of the environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the forefront. Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially closed system gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2. It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of organization is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer and an object. The behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics associated with the behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the object systems. However, different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The same theory argues that process is any activity that involves change which is measured by duration, succession and co–existence. Thus, only open and closed systems are of importance and were considered for the study of organizations. The other two quadrants were between the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, an enclosure is a private plot of land owned by the landlord who hires landless workers to tend to the crops and animals on the land. This system is considered an improvement compared to the open field system because it allows the idea of crop rotation to take place. Crop rotations was the planting of different crops over different cycles to maintain the nitrogen and other minerals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 20. The Communication Structure Of A Geographically... The purpose of the research article (article) is to explore three specific topics regarding the communication structure of a geographically distributed software development team: the observable behavior of the organization in reference to Conway's law, difficulties encountered by geographically distributed teams, and potential solutions for these difficulties. Conway's law suggests that the resulting product of an organization will take on characteristics of the organization's communication systems. This would suggest that a large geographically segregated team, which faces communication barriers as a result, would produce a product reflective of the barriers. The article states that geographically distributed teams will face difficulty in the exchange of information. Teams must use a common language, with agreed upon attributes. These types of teams develop software systems individually, which must then work together. This would require great coordination through effective communication. The article makes the point that Conway's law dictates that teams coordinate their efforts, while Frederick Brooks suggests that this is not so easy to achieve. Advancement in communication technologies has helped to tackle some of the communication barriers that distributed teams face. The article justifies the study by stating that existing research is not clear on the benefits of applying Conway's law to this specific situation. In order to address this knowledge gap, a study was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When people think, there are two types of ways of thinking; System 1 and System 2 (Kahneman, 2012). Besides, Dewey (1933) described tree types of thinking approaches as effortless means. One of them is unconscious thinking, which is applied in the situations: being sleep and awake, it is considered that there would be not much or important or helpful production of this type of thinking. Many geographers refer to a model by the classic definition from Kolars and Haggett, 1967: "a simplified version of reality, built in order to demonstrate certain of the properties of reality". Models are often known as analogies which is a 'relationship of similarity between two things, a likeness in some function, effect, or circumstance' (Andrews, 1987). Analogue models are only one distinguished in physical geography. Conceptual, physical and mathematical models are also used (Jones and Gomez, 2010). Barron and Washington, 1984, Cox et al., 2000 and Gildor and Tziperman, 2001 all used a form of climate models. Barron and Washington, 1984 aimed to explore past climatic change, by investigating the surface temperature sensitivity by comparing present and cretaceous simulations. Similarly, Gildor and Tziperman, 2001 used a conceptual box model to investigate past climate change, based on oscillations of climate systems. Points was a simple concept but was not reliable and needed adjustment and replacement of components seemed constant. Today a magnetic sensor relays a signal to the computer which in turn sends the voltage to the selected cylinder to ignite the fuel/air mixture. There are not mechanical parts to fail or become corroded and brittle. There are many different parts to an ignition system. These parts differ between modern and old ignition systems. When the ignition switch is placed in the "start" position, the solenoid windings are energized and the resulting shift lever movement causes the drive pinion gear to engage the flywheel ring gear, and cranking takes place. When the engine starts, an overrunning clutch (part of the drive assembly) protects the armature from too much speed until the switch is opened. At this time, a return spring causes the pinion gear to disengage from the flywheel. The spark plug wire carries 20,000 or more volts from the distributor cap to the spark plug. Spark plug wires are made of various layers of materials. The fiber core, inside the spark plug wire carries the high voltage. The older design of spark plug wires used a metallic wire to carry the high voltage. This caused electrical interference with the radio and TV reception. Some spark plug wires have a locking connection at the distributor cap. The distributor cap must first be removed and the terminals be squeezed together, and then the spark plug wire can be removed from the distributor cap. To reduce interference with radio and TV reception, ignition systems are provided with resistance in the secondary circuit. Resistor spark plugs or special resistor type ignition cable may be used. To work effectively in modern ignition systems, it is important that the resistor ignition cable is capable of producing a specifically designed resistance. The plain view doctrine states that items that are within the sight of a police officer who is legally in a place from which the view is made may properly be seized without a warrant as long as such items are immediately recognizable as subject to seizure (Criminal Procedure: Law and Practice 2004). The officer called the boys' parents walking towards the patio's screen door. A woman, dressed in a nightgown exited the house and immediately started explaining the baggies on the table. Amy claims that "organizations can function better with an open systems approach to public relations by employing social media, allowing for a greater chance at survival than organizations that function as a closed system (Reitz, 2012, p.41, para.1)." Author Amy Reitz took several theories into consideration in the development of this paper, but ultimately decided that a functional analysis approach best described that organizations would benefit better as an open system with help from using social media. The main claim the author tries to convey is, "organizations can function better with an open systems approach to public relations by employing social media, allowing for a greater chance at survival than organizations that function as a closed system (Reitz, 2012, p.41, para.1)." The article's main goal is to suggest that organizations will function better by using social media, which will ultimately help the organization function better as an open system. The digital revolution has changed the way we work and communicate almost beyond recognition. Provided that, foreseeing the changes and potential compatibility problems, in the mid nineteen eighties, the international standard organization (ISO) developed a networking reference model to standardize how network systems communicate with each other. It is a logical model for how network systems are supposed to communicate with each other. It breaks down the different components of the network communication and puts them into layers which reduce complexity. This reference model consists of seven layers: Application Layer, Presentation Layer, Session Layer, Transport Layer, Network Layer, Data Link Layer, and the Physical Layer. Each layer provides a service to the layer above it in the protocol specification and then communicates with the same layer's software or hardware on other computers. Transformer may be used as a safe and efficient voltage changer to change the Alternating Current voltage at it's input to a higher and lower voltage at its output without changing it's frequency. Other uses include current conversion, isolation with or without changing impedance and voltage conversion. A transformer consists of two windings of wire that are wound around a common core and it provides tight electromagnetic coupling between the windings and makes a couple. The core material is may be of a laminated iron core. The coil that receives the electrical input energy is referred to as primary winding, the output coil is secondary winding. An alternating current flows through the primary winding coil of a transformer generates electromagnetic field which varies in its surroundings and induces a varying magnetic flux in the core of a transformer. Open Systems Why Open Systems Theory?: The open systems approach has been chosen to study the above issues because it has been commended for its potential usefulness in "synthesizing and analyzing complexity" (Simon, 1969) in "live" organizations. Leavitt, Pinfield and Webb (1974) also recommended an open– systems approach for studying contemporary organizations which now exist in a fast–changing and turbulent environment. • 62. The Pc And Its Operating Systems The PC and its Operating Systems The information technology field is a field that covers a vast amount of technologies and ideas that have evolved to be much more than what they were during the infancy of the technology movement. Perhaps the greatest innovator and most recognizable face of the field is Bill Gates, the creator of the Windows operating system. Windows revolutionized the way the public interacted with their personal computers and catapulted the devices into the majority of American's homes. Running counter to Windows, and taking a completely open source route for ease of access and distribution is Windows rival Linux. Linux has a very different approach to how the PC should operate and had a number of different versions that are tailored to individual user's needs. All of these different operating systems have at least one thing in common however. The ability to run on a personal computer. The personal computer, or PC, the personal computer is a general–purpose computer that make it useful for individuals and are intended to be operated by an end user. Bill Gates was born October 28th, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. Gates showed an early interest in the world of computing, writing his first software program at age 13 and helping a group of programmers computerize their schools payroll system ("Encyclopedia Brittanica"). Taking his love and interest for the world of computing even further, Gates created his first company Traf–O– Data at age 17. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. Robotic Surgery Essay The Uprising of Robotic Surgery The newest surgical procedure As the years pass, technology is advancing rapidly in many different areas, particularly in medicine. Just 15 years ago, people did not have access to the medical technology available today. Patients are operated on differently and the medical field is continuously advancing to ensure the safest and fasted way to perform a surgery and decrease the recovery time that follows. In recent years, the use of robotics in surgery has grown extensively. The implementation of robotic surgery has impacted the technological advancements in medicine by providing surgery in a more advanced way such as being more accurate and precise, providing less visual cosmetic scars on the body, and being cost effective. Background Information "Robotic surgery is the use of a mechanical device to assist surgery in place of a human–being or in a human–like way" (Tang). The origin of robotic surgery has been documented back to 1985 when a robotic surgical arm called PUMA 560 was used in a neurosurgical biopsy ("History"). The surgery was successful and was minimally invasive; this leads to further advancements and replications of the surgical system. In 2000, the first robotic surgery system was approved by the FDA for general laparoscopic surgery – it was named the da Vinci surgery system ("History"). The da Vinci is used in both adult and pediatrics it the following areas for surgery: urological, general laparoscopic, General ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CAMLESS ENGINES AND THE BENEFITS THEY PRODUCE The authors of the reviewed article are: Marcello Montanari, Fabio Ronchi, Carlo Rossi, and Alberto Tonielli, all of whom are members of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Marcello Montanari received the Laurea degree in computer science, engineering, and a Ph.D. in automatic control from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, in 1999 and 2003. Since 2000, he has been with the Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (DEIS), University of Bologna. His current research interests include applied nonlinear and adaptive control techniques, electric drives, and automotive systems. His co–authors are also graduates of the University of Bologna and are members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SUMMARY In Montanari's article first, he addresses and formulates the problem. Second, he creates a mathematical model of the system, and analyzes the requirements for the controlled system. Third, he completes the position reconstruction and the analysis of the sensors. Lastly the reference of trajectories for the pistons, to ensure the stability of the system, is completed. After all this Montanari proposes a control system architecture for the position control of an electromechanical valve actuator. There are two key parts of the controller, specifically, the position reconstruction, and the reference trajectory design. Both of these have been addressed, and the resulting limitations on the system's dynamic performance explained. Knowledge of these limitations is essential when integrating a valve actuation system within the internal combustion engine management system. Hence, the results presented in this paper are an important step toward the realization of a Camless engine with electromechanical actuators for commercial vehicles. Camless engines offer a lot of improvements over traditional engines in efficiency, maximum torque and power, and emissions. Electromechanical valve (EMV) actuators are a great way to solve this problem, but electromechanical valves have major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Traumatic Human Development In The Movie Boyz N The Hood The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents' lives was affected negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an environment where drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a predominantly African American community these adolescents were faced with many misfortunes. Ricky one of the adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this particular paper was faced with adversity. Ricky as a character displayed the effects of understanding the traumatic human development and normal human development. Traumatic human development is when one is open to danger and violence. One can be open to traumatic development directly or indirectly on a centered foundation. Ricky environment exposed him negativity. A majority of the negativity that Ricky is exposed to is gun violence, gangs, drugs and other negativity as well. Due to his environment being looked down upon and him being an African American male from a certain area of Los Angeles town he was viewed upon negatively by society. For instance, a scene from the movie dictates Tre and Ricky is pulled over by cops. The cops, one African American the main cop posed Tre and Ricky as a threat to society. Being harassed by the cop made Tre and Ricky feel as though they had no place in of belonging in that part of Los Angeles town. By Ricky being an African American male it was difficult enough for him to be successful in his environment. Ricky was not as fortunate to have the resources he needed. He was limited to many resources but, his limitation did not interfere with him having normal development. The theories that can mainly be relative to this movie, as well as the character Ricky, are person–in–environment, systems theory, and cultural theory (Newman and Newman 2012). The first theory that can be associated with character Ricky is the person–in–environment theory. Person in environment theory had some effects on Ricky. Ricky's environment consisted of drugs, gangs, and even murders. His environment did not shape who Ricky was. His environment was his motivation to escape. Unlike his brother Doughboy whom had gotten comfortable in the environment of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why would you want to change your coordinate reference system during any analysis? Remember that a coordinate reference system is a special type (and thought of as a key component) of the broader concept of 'spatial reference system'. The difference between a coordinate reference system and a projection (transformation) are that a projection provides various mechanisms to project maps of the earth's spherical surface onto a two– dimensional Cartesian coordinate plane whereas a coordinate reference system enables geographic datasets to use common locations for integration. The open system focuses on the organization and the external possibilities while the closed focuses on internal possibilities when problems occur. The open system is influenced by the environment, which also causes weaknesses in the structure since every day there is change. Environmental changes cause organizational changes. The close system in an organization shows organized structure and order, however, lack structural mobility ("Open Versus Closed Systems," n.d.). The recommended changes to improve the structure of the Department of Homeland Security would be to be part open system and closed system. The Department of Homeland Security can make certain departments of the organization closed to keep information internal and open certain departments have better communication. Manager Versus Leadership Although the terms "management" and "leadership" are often confused as in meaning the same there is a distinction between the words. • 76. Implementing Complex Protocols On The Network System Introduction:– In the present computer networks are being built by implementing complex protocols on an array of network devices such as routers, switches and middleware like ISD intrusion detection systems and firewalls systems. In order to allow the network to be modified to the changing environment, the network Administrator have to manually configures all new configuration policies by converting them into the low level commands that are supported by the system. Companies need to depend on the network vendors in order to deal with the problems related to security, scalability, manageability and other issues. Many efforts have been done to make the network programmable even before the SDN. Some of those are Forces (2003), Routing Control Platform (2004), Ethane (2007), and Open Flow (2008). Main body:– Network technology passed many stapes to reach the advance level it is now a days. The first step was how to control a packet–switched network which started the project Forces which was implemented in 2003. It has Protocols for multiple control elements and forwarding elements, the project failed because it requires standardization, adoption, deployment of new hardware. After the failure of Forces a new project have been applied called Routing Control Platform (RCP) which was implemented in 2004.The RCP computes routes on behalf of routers, the RCP uses existing routing protocol (BGP) to communicate routes to routers. The RCP Convert the best route of internal routing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The introduction of the home personal computer and the internet launched our society to a modernized, technology–depended community. Vast array of information are available to us every minute of every day. If any of us have a question that we needed the answer to, all we have to do is use Bing or Google or some other search engine and search for the answer. It is so easy now to obtain information. Furthermore, technology has greatly affected healthcare. Due to the technological advances in medicine, our society has the longest life span in history. Illnesses such as infections, wounds and other ailments that used to be fatal can now be cured by simply ingesting medicine. An aspect of medicine that is gradually becoming the focus of technological advancement is surgery. Surgeries can now be performed with the help of robots. The utilization of these robotic surgical systems is one of the main controversial issues many physicians debate about. The uncertainty as to what extent technology should influence medicine makes this issue interesting. Robotic surgery was first imagined from the idea that surgeons can operate on a patient without being in the same room, which was explored by NASA and the military in the 1970s and 1980s. The first ever surgery system that uses robotic technology is the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci Surgical System was approved by the FDA in 2000. This system includes a camera arm and mechanical arms with surgical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
