If I were to walk in to a randomly selected oil and gas field operations facility and review work
interactions and procedures for 15 minutes, would I be able to adequately address the safety culture
within the building? To add more information, let's say I was required to sign–in and was given a
quick evacuation briefing. Further, all employees were wearing appropriate PPE and "Safety First"
signs were prominently hung on the walls for all to see. With the given, after 15 minutes of work

M. Stallman quit his position at the university to begin the GNU Project. Having grown tired of

Open vs. Closed Systems
The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which
was diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on
the concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of
the environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the
forefront. Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially
closed system gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2.
It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of
organization is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer and
an object. The behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics
associated with the behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the
object systems. However, different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The same
theory argues that process is any activity that involves change which is measured by duration,

'relationship of similarity between two things, a likeness in some function, effect, or circumstance'
(Andrews, 1987). Analogue models are only one distinguished in physical geography. Conceptual,
physical and mathematical models are also used (Jones and Gomez, 2010).
Arnold et al., 1998 investigates the behaviour of the Haut Glacier d'Arolla in Valais, Switzerland to
predict and explain how glacier drainage systems function. Barron and Washington, 1984, Cox et
al., 2000 and Gildor and Tziperman, 2001 all used a form of climate models. Barron and
Washington, 1984 aimed to explore past climatic change, by investigating the surface temperature

The officer walked over to the wall and was able to see two juveniles in a fistfight. Their clothes
were ripped, their eyes swollen, and their faces were bleeding. The officer entered the property
through an open gate and broke up the fight. The officer observed several plastic baggies containing

The transformer is an electrical device which transfers energy between two circuit through
electromagnetic induction. Transformer may be used as a safe and efficient voltage changer to

How Technology Has Affected Healthcare
Our world runs on technology. The introduction of the home personal computer and the internet
launched our society to a modernized, technology–depended community. Vast array of information
are available to us every minute of every day. If any of us have a question that we needed the answer
to, all we have to do is use Bing or Google or some other search engine and search for the answer. It
is so easy now to obtain information. Furthermore, technology has greatly affected healthcare. Due
to the technological advances in medicine, our society has the longest life span in history. Illnesses
such as infections, wounds and other ailments that used to be fatal can now be cured by simply
ingesting medicine. An aspect of medicine that is gradually becoming the focus of technological
advancement is surgery. Surgeries can now be performed with the help of robots. The utilization of
these robotic surgical systems is one of the main controversial issues many physicians debate about.
The uncertainty as to what extent technology should influence medicine makes this issue interesting.
Robotic surgery was first imagined from the idea that surgeons can operate on a patient without
being in the same room, which was explored by NASA and the military in the 1970s and 1980s. The
