2. The Diversity And New Organization
Introduction
Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve is the FFA motto.
Some people do not know what the letters FFA stand for. They also do not know the
history that is behind the national organization.
What FFA means. FFA used to stand for the Future Farmers of America (What is
FFA, Nov.3, 2015). Now the official name is the National FFA Organization
(National FFA Organization records, 1916 2008, Nov. 3, 2015). Some people think
that FFA is just for students who want to be a farmer or are a farm (What is FFA,
Nov.3, 2015). These people are wrong, FFA welcomes students who want to be a
doctor or even a scientist (What is FFA, Nov.3, 2015). That is the main reason why
the organization changed the name in 1988 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

3, 2015). The national emblem was adopted by Leslie Applegate from Freehold, N.J.
He was the first president for the FFA (FFA History, Nov. 3, 2015).
In 1929, the colors national blue and corn gold became the official colors for the FFA
(FFA History, Nov. 3, 2015). The FFA Creed was adopted by some delegated after the
official colors (FFA History, Nov. 3, 2015). Then the official dress with a blue
corduroy jacket was adopted in 1933 (National FFA Organization records, 1916
2008, Nov. 3, 2015). They got the idea of the blue corduroy jacket from the
Fredericktown FFA chapter in Ohio (National FFA Organization records, 1916 2008,
Nov. 3, 2015).
After the Future Farmers of America formed in 1928, a national organization for
the African American students started in Tuskegee, Ala by G.W. Owens and J.R.
Thomas (FFA History, Nov. 3, 2015). The organization was called the New
Farmers of America, or NFA (National FFA Organization records, 1916 2008, Nov.
3, 2015). The NFA and the FFA both had the same common beliefs (FFA History,
Nov. 3, 2015). Both of the Creeds had been written by E.M. Tiffany (National FFA
Organization records, 1916 2008, Nov. 3, 2015), and had a total of six paragraphs
(FFA History, Nov. 3, 2015). Every paragraph started with I believe (FFA History,
Nov. 3, 2015). There emblems had only one thing different was the outline shape
(FFA History, Nov. 3, 2015).
3. Explain Why Unbalanced Forces Cause A Change In
Velocity
As written in this essay, you will learn if balanced or unbalanced forces cause a
change in velocity. By many articles and life examples, this essay will defend and
evaluate the claim using evidence and reasoning on why unbalanced forces cause a
change in velocity. The claim will be supported by a law of physics, a textbook
excerpt, and the process of skydiving. As stated from above, unbalanced forces cause
a change in velocity. As said by Isaac Newton, an object at rest stays at rest, an object
in motion stays in motion, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. (Newton, 1st
Law of Physics/Motion, 1666). By this, Newton had meant the object would change
velocity if acted upon by an unbalanced force. According to the Physical Science

4. Justin Apeiros Research Paper
As Justin, Apeiros was a very short and rather weak looking girl. She had very short
and brown hair that she keeps very straight by combing it carefully. This is because
she wants her outer image to not appear as if she is a messy girl but rather a well
kept girl who cares about her looks. She has smooth, pale skin that only has a few
glaring spots on it in general. She generally keeps her body in a very healthy, clean
looking state. She makes sure to trim her bangs so they never get in the way of her
eyes or are too noticeable in general. She never wears makeup, as she feels like it
would be pointless to add onto her body. She wants to still appear tough and bruiting
while still never going too far in girlishness or toughness. As the military
5. Strategy Fouling Constitutive Rule
Probably why violating constitutive rule started to happen was because winning has
become more important than playing the game. Obviously, someone started
strategy fouling either they knew what they were doing, or it started out as
something that happened by accident and they realized it could work to their
advantage. Once that happen of course everyone else was going to start doing it,
even if they felt like it might not be the right thing to do. Because if they didn t
they would be more likely to lose and since when you think about pro and national
level sport winning seems to have become really the main goal for everyone
involved. Bernard Suits it quoted saying it is generally acknowledged that games are
in some sense essentially non serious. We must therefore ask in what sense games
are, and in what sense they are not, serious. (p.159) I believe... Show more content on

I don t think you can consider it wrong for a team to use strategy fouling, they re
just using the rules that were put there by someone else to their advantage.
However, I do believe it can be more important depending on the sport that is being
played as Dixon said in a game like soccer one extra point can mean winning the
whole game whereas in basketball an extra few points might give one team an
edge but it is hardly going to be the majority of points scored.(p. 170 71) So it
makes sense that in soccer it is a much bigger deal and they do more things to
discourage it than they do in basketball. Simon stated that Restorative skills are
those employed to get the game back on track after a constitutive rule has been
violated (p. 221) As long as the sport has the necessary restorative skills to right the
game after a constitutive skill was violated then the player should have the right to
use it to their
6. The First Occasion When We See Elizabeth
The film begins with a sort of a preface, with Elizabeth as a young lady cruising with
her dad Representative Swann and her future fiancee Lt Norrington, and in addition
future privateer Mr. Gibbs. Representative Swann isn t only the legislative leader of
Port Regal, he s the legislative head of Elizabeth, an occupation we see him commit
more opportunity to than any genuine administering.
The first occasion when we see Elizabeth, she s singing about privateers. She s
acutely keen on the subject, far over the level of legitimacy, to the extent her dad and
Norrington are concerned. Elizabeth is by all accounts weak and inactive among
these men, however in actuality she sets the plot into movement by locating youthful
Will Turner, lost adrift, and after that taking his emblem once he s brought on
board Norrington s ship. It s practically as if Elizabeth, with her enthusiasm for
privateers, has summoned a young man privateer out of the fog by her own
particular will. The emblem is, obviously, one of the 882 bits of reviled Aztec gold
that serves as the maguffin of Revile and drives its whole plot.
(Elizabeth sees the emblem and finishes up, erroneously, that Will is a privateer.
There is a great deal of backstory in Revile, the most confounded of which is the
narrative of Will s dad, Bootstrap Bill, and how the emblem made it around youthful
Will s neck. This story is complicated to the point that I needed to sit and watch the
motion picture various times before

b.Control risk should be assessed in terms of individual financial statement assertions.
10 2. In assessing control risk for an assertion, the auditor should perform the

However, the auditor must perform direct tests of application controls in order to
assess control risk below a high level.
10 8. a.The advantages of using computer assisted audit technique in performing
tests of controls include: A significant part of the entity s system of internal controls
is imbedded in computer programs. There are significant gaps in the visible audit
trail. There are large volumes of records to be tested.
b.The major disadvantages of using computer assisted audit techniques are the special
knowledge and skills required, and the possible disruption of the client s IT operations
while the auditor uses IT equipment, programs and files. The auditor must also test
the effectiveness of manual follow up procedures in order to determine how
effectively the computer controls are at preventing or detecting and correcting
misstatements in assertions.
10 9.The advantages of parallel simulation include the following: Because real data
are used, the auditor can verify the transactions by tracing them to source documents
and approvals. The size of the sample can be greatly expanded at relatively little
additional cost. The auditor can independently run the test.

Serial Killers Serial killers have struck fear in the hearts of people, yet the public
remains fascinated and intrigued by the crimes perpetrated by these individuals.
There are several theories and factors that have been attributed to serial killers in an
attempt to explain their behaviors. Furthermore, by indentifying the behaviors that
are exhibited by serial killers, law enforcement professionals are able to gather
information about these serial killers that will assist in the apprehension of the
criminal. In the majority of serial homicides, a motivating factor, in addition to
domination and manipulation of a victim, is the sexual gratification and desire that is
experienced by the serial killer. Serial killers murderindividuals... Show more content

Michael H. Stone in The Anatomy of Evil states that there are several factors that
influence a serial killer s behavior. The factors that may influence behavior are
presented in a nature versus nurture model with occasional factors falling into a
category of mixed and/or unknown origins (201). The factors that Stone considers to
pertain to an individual s natural environment include mental illness that is coupled
with psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, autism, and Aspergers Syndrome.
Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such
as ADD and ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201).
Personality disorders are considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore
considered to be a part of an individual s natural environment; personality disorders
include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid, sadistic, paranoid, and/or impulsive
aggressive (201). Stone identifies nurture factors as parental physical/sexual/verbal
abuse, parental abandonment and/or neglect, the loss of a parent, absence of a father,
separation and/or divorce of the parental unit before the child is 16, and brain disease
or damage (201). The factors that Stone considers to be attributed to mixed or
unknown origins include paraphilia, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse,
alcoholism, conduct disorders that are committed in childhood, animal torture and
arson,
9. Essay on hinduism vs. jainism
Many people believe Hinduism to be a polytheistic religion. This is due to the fact
that there is so many gods that they can worship in. But in all actuality it is really a
monotheistic religion that spawns off of one god to form many different gods or
ideas to worship. The entire religion of Hinduism is based off of Brahman. Brahman
is the idea that all reality is a unity. I will explain the concept of Brahman and four
others and hopefully make Hinduismeasier to comprehend.
Some have viewed Hinduism as a monotheistic religion, because it recognizes only
one supreme God: the pantheistic principle of Brahman, that all reality is a unity. The
entire universe is seen as one divine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Karma, you hear Karma mentioned all over, don t hate her, its bad karma. Karma is
the entire sum of ones good and bad deeds. Karma determines how you will live
your next life. Through pure acts, thoughts and devotion, one can be reborn at a
higher level. Eventually, a follower of Hinduism can escape samsara and achieve
enlightenment. Bad deeds can cause a person to be reborn at a lower level, or even
as an animal. The unequal distribution of wealth, prestige, and suffering are thus seen
as natural consequences for one s previous acts, both in this life and in previous lives.
Samsara and moksha are the terms used in dealing with the Hinduism concept of
afterlife. Samsara is the birth, death, and rebirth cycle. That s why Hindu s want to
have good Karma so they can escape this cycle and eventually achieve moksha.
Moksha is the escape of samsara and once Hindus achieve moksha they are set free
from space, time, and matter. Moksha is what all Hindus want to achieve.

When I saw that we were going to learn about Jainism, I asked myself, What is that?
To answer my question I found some information at http:/

Jainism is the mission of nature, which is to work for the good of one and all. The
idea of Jainism is to rise from the
10. Essay on Racism in Disney Films
What images come to mind as one reflects upon his or her childhood? Playgrounds,
blackboards, and soccer balls may be among the fondest of memories. Yet, for
many, mermaids swim their thoughts, princesses get swept off their feet, and lions
roar to their royal place in the animal kingdom. Disney films have captivated the
American culture for years and have become a pivotal part of popular culture as
well as a form of education. However, these films have devoured the youth of
America and, in the process; have perpetuated an institutionally racist society based
on harsh stereotypes. Minorities are often underrepresented, and even completely left
out, of many Disney films such as Dumbo (1941), The Lion King(1994), Aladdin
(1992), and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Carl Hiaasen, The secret weapon is trust. Disney is the most trusted
brand name in the history of marketing. It hooks us when we re little and never lets
go; this unshakeable faith that Disney is the best at knowing what s best. (13) It is
time that this myth be shattered. As far back as 1946, racial stereotyping of
African Americans has been evident in Disney films. For instance, in the American
classic Dumbo, the crows depict the typical southern African American with a
slow pattern of speech. In Jungle Book (1967) the monkeys with African American
voices are jiving in a crazy manner because they will never be real men and will
always be animals. One of the most tragic examples of this racism can be seen in the
movie Tarzan. In the original making of the movie, the white man comes to the
rescue and tames all of the animals and natives. However, in the new Disney version
of Tarzan (1999), the blacks that obviously inhabit Africa were completely eliminated
and replaced by gorillas with African American voices. African American children
whom view these films have no choice but to resort to relating to these often
unintelligent, inferior animals because that is where they hear themselves. In Mickey
Mouse Monopoly, children were asked if they could think of any black characters in
Disney films, sadly they came up short of a single one. It
11. Validity And Reliability
Validity refers to the believability or credibility of a research (No author, 2018).
The data was valid as multiple trials were conducted (5 trials) and it was a fair test
so therefore it must also be reliable. Reliability is the repeatability and the quality of
being trustworthy or of performing well (Oxford, 2018). The factors that effected the
validityand reliability of the results included were there were only three different
pH solutions (pH 4, pH 7, pH1 0) used in this experiment which does not give an
accurate result on which pH is the optimum pH for enzyme action. The range of
pH values, at which catalase works is approximately 4 to 9, therefore more different
types of pH s should have been used in order to narrow on the exact pH value that
causes the most enzyme action. The error bars in figure 1 and 2 represents the
uncertainty or error of the corresponding coordinate of the point.... Show more

For example, the mashing of the potato was done by humans and consequently the
strength and technique used to crush these potatoes would be varying. The
measurements had human errors as instead of distilled water, tap water was used
which may have had other chemicals in it that affected the pH. It is clear there were
errors as the numbers in the results table were not exactly the same. Sometimes the
timer was stopped too fast and too slow on the reactions. The experiment was very
rushed, as there was only a limited amount of time to achieve as many trials as
possible. Since there was a limited time to do this experiment, the uncertainties and
limitations would have affected the data

The Dialectic of Metafiction and Neorealism in Calvino s Baron in the Trees.
I agree to my books being read as existential or as structural works, as Marxist or neo
Kantian, Freudianly or Jungianly: but above all I am glad to see that no one key
will open the lock .
The above quotation perhaps shows more than anything else the ambiguity of
Calvino s works. The obsession to label all narratives arises from our compulsion to
make sense of this world, as literary generic categories form part of our cosmologies.
Calvino s work however, eludes us by drawing upon multifarious techniques and

Instead, these two antithetical elements work to create a symbiotic relationship,
marked by a tenuous balance which Calvino maintains in his fiction.
I shall first begin by examining the notions of metafiction and neorealism, looking
at what these genres entail, and how they would conventionally work in a
narrative. Subsequently, I will then go on to show how these two notions create the
dialectic between fairy tale and realism in Calvino s Baron In The Trees , thereby
examining the reason underlying one of the most significant disputes over the genre
of his work. I will then look at the ways in which Baron In The Trees may be
considered as metafictional and also as neo realist. Consequently, I will then proceed
to the various ways in which this dialectic manifested, as well as the means by which
Calvino maintains a tenuous balance these two contrasting elements Lastly I will
examine the reasons why the Calvino short story belies this dialectic of contrasting
elements.
Metafiction is fiction that draws attention to its own fictional status, and in doing so
it acknowledges no reality other than the one we construct for ourselves. In
attempting to escape from the constructed realities of language and signs, it seeks
also to dispel our illusions of being able to portray reality in art and in novels. Thus,
by drawing attention to its fictionality,

They can be used to test security countermeasures and firewall deployments and are

Challenges to baseline analysis include simplifying the data for better analysis,

17. The Late Middle Ages
The late Middle ages was definitely a troubled time for citizens around Europe.
From the 14th Century to the 15th Century, humans were raveled by famines,
disruption of socio economics, and lost of faith in the Catholic Church. To the eyes
of many at the time, this era was looked at as a major decline of life. With the many
deaths, poor condition for poor people, and the schism of the Church, it may seem
easy to call this era a decline. Although upon closer looking, this era is more of a
transitional period into the next period than a decline due to many reasons. Whether
you look at religious, social movements, or economically, the late Middle Ageshelped
transition Europe into what it has become.

18. Romeo and Juliet, Baz Luhrmann
I believe that Baz Luhrmann has created a very effective prologue and version of
Act 1 Scene 1 of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, using visual images and landmarks
along with the language to aid the audience in understanding the story. Using the
media throughout, Luhrmann makes the situations easier for the audience to grasp,
and in turn, relate to. The film begins with the camera zooming in on a television.
The prologue is spoken by a black female news reporter. Using a coloured female
reporter is effective as it shows how universally important the story is. This indicates
the importance of the Montagues and the Capulets for their frays and fights to shown

All of this suggests their apparent immaturity, and fun attitude. The Montague boys
pull into Phoenix petrol station. The name Phoenix is significant as it shows that
often good things are born from the ashes, in this case, Romeo and Juliet s love for
each other, and an end to all the fighting. As they pull in, there is a clear shot of the
cars number plate, which reads В‘Mon 005 . The Capulets then pull into the petrol
station, in a more suave, sophisticated car; however they have a matching number
plate, this time reading В‘Cap 005 . This again shows competition between the two
families. One of the Montague boys climbs out of the car, and shows a sexual attitude
towards some nuns. This indicates that they have little respect for people. The
Montague has a black eye, which shows that he has been in a recent fight, most
probably with a Capulet. Abra and Tybalt then step out of their car. Immediately there
is an obvious difference in the two families, and their attitudes. The Capulets are more
sophisticated, whereas the Montagues are immature and up for anything. As soon as
the Montagues spot the Capulets, there is tension between them. This indicates how
much hatred has built up in the rift between the two families. Abra looks towards the
Montagues in a threatening way. The Montagues are quick to respond, and bite their
thumbs at the Capulets, a gesture that was

To be book smart or street smart, or is it possible to be both? In the reading,
Hidden Intellectualism, by Gerald Graff, a professor at the University of Illinois

school. He argues that if students could be as interested in school, and as book smart
as they were street smart, then they would have the opportunity to thrive and excel in
school all while enjoying it, he even goes on to use himself as an example of taking
an anti intellectual and becoming a great intellectual.

smart, because although they should both tie in with each other like the way they
function in the real world, they are frowned upon instead of being encouraged in
today s academic setting. Diverse topics, topics that students find that their
interested in, not only limited to bland stereotypical subjects should most
definitely be allowed and highly encouraged in today s academic realm, because
truth be told, not everyone wakes up and says, I am so excited to read Macbeth by
WIlliam Shakespeare and write about it like there s no tomorrow, it s just
uncommon. There are more than 2.1 million students on 114 campuses, in
community colleges in California alone according to the California Community
College Chancellor s Office, and we are all different, but expected to learn the same
way. How does that make any sense? What one students might find interesting, the
other might detest. For example, I enjoyed reading Of Mice and Men by John
Steinbeck whereas my peers despised it. This ties back to what Graff had stated
about students being allowed to write and read texts or subjects which are of their
interest as long as they are viewed through academic eyes. I agree with the idea that
street smarts are more intellectual than book smarts, and that students individual
interests can be more effective than typical learning material. In the text, Graff uses

Dental issues, like gum disease, do more than just affect your oral health. In fact,

conditions. For this reason, the dentists at Kenton Dental Care, Kenton, Ohio s

23. Electrochemical Cells Using The Nernst Equation
INTRODUCTION The premise and focus of experiment 9 Electrochemistry was to
demonstrate the potential, in volts, that can be generated by electrochemical cells
and how to calculate the theoretical potential of those electrochemical cells using the
Nernst equation. Of the electrochemical cells used, there were two different types,
voltaic and concentration. Voltaic cells are composed of two half cells with
differing electrodes and solutions that result in a spontaneous flow of electrons from
one half cell to the other half cell until equilibrium is met. In Voltaic cells, this flow
of electrons is driven by redoxreactions and the reduction potential of the half cells.
Concentration cells are composed of half cells with identical... Show more content on

This oxidation increases the oxidation state of the atom while the reduction of an
atom causing the oxidation state to decrease. Whenever an atom is oxidized, there
is a corresponding oxidizing agent that oxidized the atom, likewise there is a
corresponding reducing agent whenever an atom is reduced. During redox
reactions, the oxidized atom tends to be the reducing agent and the reduced atom
tends to be the oxidizing agent. When balancing a redox reaction, it is separated
into two half reactions, the oxidation process and the reduction process. These two
half reactions are then balanced based on the number of electrons being
transferred and then combine to find the overall equation for the reaction.
Electrochemical cells are devices that can generate electrical energy through the
transfer of electrons.3 They are composed of two half cells that are separated
except by a circuit and a salt bridge. Each of the half cells consist of a solution of
ions, called an electrolyte, with an electrode, which is typical a metal or a compound
that is conductive, submerged in the electrolyte. Of the two electrodes in an
electrochemical cell, one is considered an anode and the other is considered the
cathode. This is determined by where oxidation and reduction is occurring in the cell.

Abstract: Portfolio matrix is probably the most important tool for strategic marketing
planning, especially in the strategy selection stage. Position of the organization in the
portfolio matrix and it s corresponding marketing strategy depends on the aggregation
of values of relevant strategic factors. Traditional approach to portfolio matrix
analysis uses averaging function as an aggregation operator. This approach is very
limited in realistic business environment characterized by complex ... Show more

It is clear that the use of weighted arithmetic mean as an aggregation operator can t
express all the possible interactions between strategic factors that exist in a realistic
business environment. This explains why the traditional approach to portfolio matrix
analysis is highly limited, with the inherited weaknesses that can t be overcome
without substantial modification. Therefore, under previous conditions, it is obvious
that a new approach to portfolio matrix analysis is needed. This new approach must
take in consideration all the possible forms of interactions between strategic factors
that can occur in a realistic business environment.
These interactions can be expressed with a logical aggregation operator, so a new
approach to portfolio matrix analysis can be based on this operator. W eighted
arithmetic mean and other known aggregation operators are just, as we will see in
the following sections, special cases of logical aggregation operator.

27. Organizational Structure Of An Organization
1.Introduction
An organization is defined as a group of people who work together in an organized
way for shared purpose. When people come together, they can either compliment one
another or potentially create conflicts and disagreements in the course of pursuing
common objectives with their differentiated experiences, perceptions and knowledge.
Managing an organization involves putting a structure to the business so that
managers can manage, supervise and coordinate its people and organization s
performance. A structure serves as a framework for the purpose of outlining clear
operating guidelines in order to keep the organization functional. It defines the
hierarchical lines of authority, establishing job roles and responsibilities, details
communication channels to determine how information should flow within the
organization. A well fitted organizational structurewill have positive impacts on both
its employees and its performance.
2.Organizational Structures
Organizational structures exist in two basic forms, the organic and the mechanistic,
each contrastive of another (Burns Stalker, 1961). Measured by four main elements
of an organization s characteristics; standardization, formalization, role specifications,
and centralization of its operating unit, the time taken and frequency of future
activities and change implementations are also taken into consideration.
Seen in Appendix 1, the diagram depicts the four elements an organization can
structure itself.

Reflection is considered as a vital element of professional practice as it precedes to
insight and then subsequent change in practice. The hypothesis of reflection is not
new as it can be tracked as far back in the 5th century by the influential Greek
philosopher, Socrates and to the 1930s primarily focusing on John Dewey s work.
Dewey is one of the founders of learning from experience. He theorised reflectionas
active, persistent and careful consideration (Dewey, 1933) initiated by a specific
situation which was opposing, perplexing or uncertain. One of its most common use
today is coming up with a thought, an idea, or opinion made or an observation made
as a result of concentration, suggesting in essence a way of thinking in which one
looks back and meditate upon (Agnes, 2004).
In 1938, Donald Schon s The Reflective Practitioner: How Professionals Think in
Action was published. He promoted two types of reflection, which he referred to as
1) reflection on action and 2) reflection in action (Somerville and Keeling, 2004).

However, after he quit school he had started working for a small band fixing their

ABSTRACT
The bacterial spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi is the causative agent of the most
commonly reported arthropod borne illness in the United States, Lyme disease. Select
proteins produced by B. burgdorferi contain the von Willebrand Factor A (VWFA)
domain, which is responsible for cell adhesion via interaction with the extracelluar
matrix (ECM), glycoproteins, and metalloproteases. Such interactions are often an
integral part of the infection process and may be especially important for B.
burgdorferi, which relies on environmental changes in both the vector and host to
colonize, transmit, and infect. BB0173, a VWFA domain containing protein, has been
evaluated based on topology and adherence to human ECM proteins and integrins, to
evaluate its role during the infection process. The confirmation of protein localization
was performed by cloning the each of the three BB0173 transmembrane domains
upstream of the luminal P2 domain of the integral membrane protein leader peptidase
found in Escherichia coli. Gene expression was investigated via immunoblot assays
using lysates from B.

The intent of this paper is to critically analyze ethical considerations to support
whether or not to report small errors to higher management. On the one hand it may
preserve the company s business and reputation; on the other hand it may affect
potential advancement opportunities for the employee in question.
The issue at hand is determining whether or not newly hired Ben should notify his
supervisor and CFO of small errors found after sending the reports he created for
them. Since this is a recurrent issue, the problem is that by doing so, he runs the risk
of jeopardizing his position.
There is an underlying condition, which consists in distinguishing between small and

This compares to critical errors in Ben s case.
Similarly to this definition, the definition of a small error begs a number of questions:
Where do these errors come from?
What is Ben s proficiency in Microsoft Excel?
Can anyone outside the company audit the company s books?
Ben is conflicted as to how to handle errors found in his work because it may
jeopardize either his job, or the future of the entire company. This is his first job and
he realizes that his responsibilities are overwhelming at times. His reports are an
important component of the company s business, and part of the CFO s work relies
on it.
On several instances he has found errors in his reports, and decided to only revise
and report those errors he believes to be critical. Small errors, on the other hand, are
not as important to require reporting according to him.
The case however suggests that Ben is also considering whether or not he should in
fact overlook the small errors, which is what I will attempt to answer in this critical
thinking analysis.
Ben s position to disregard small errors is understandable in some aspects. In fact, as
a newly hired, in his first job, he must be proud of being given such job with great
responsibilities. Submitting frequent revisions due to small errors, will make him
look incompetent, unreliable, and jeopardize his job. This could mean running the
risk of being fired or demoted. In his situation, the most important is to prove himself
and show that

Microtubule Stabilizing Drugs and the Effects on Cancer Cells
By: Amber Erickson
Introduction
Microtubule Structure and Dynamics Microtubules are structures that are existing in
all eukaryotic cells and are a part of the cytoskeleton, and are important components
of many cellular functions such as structural support, cell motility, intracellular
transport of vesicles and organelles, and cellular division. Microtubules are composed
of О± ( ) and ОІ (+) tubulin heterodimers that are arranged in a polar longitudinal
rows called protofilaments, and then further organized into a circular 13
protofilament arrangement (Valiron et al, 2001).
Microtubules are assembled at the microtubule organizing center (MTOC), which
consist of centrosomes surrounded by pericentriolar material (PCM) in animal cells.
Nucleation, which is the initiation of microtubules, occurs at the MTOC and consists
of 13 gamma tubulin subunits forming an open ring where the first set of tubulin are
added at the positive end (Tassins and Bornens, 1999). Growth of the microtubule
consists of the polymerization, addition of tubulin dimers on the positive end near the
cell periphery, faster than tubulin dimers can be lost at the minus end, which is
attached to the centrosome toward the cell center. ... Show more content on

The specific binding site on the tubulin and on the microtubule differ amongst the
microtubule targeting drugs. Other aspects of how microtubule targeting drugs can
be varied include the sensitivity to tubulin isotype, different tissues and tumors
susceptibility, different forms of resistance , different mechanisms for suppression of
microtubule, and different degrees of variability (Mooberry, 2011). These different
factors all contribute to how a specific microtubule targeting drug will act when used
in treatment of cancer and the success or failures it will
41. Comparison of Colleges in Political Science and Government
The four colleges that i researched are Sonoma State University, UC Davis,
Claremont Mckenna College, and University of Laverne. Each of these Colleges
offer a major that i wish to study, this major is international relations or political
science and government. The first college is Sonoma State University. Their most
popular majors are Business/ Marketing, Psychology, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences,
Biology, Environmental Scienceand Visual and Performing arts. Their impacted
majors are Biology, Bachelor arts in Communication Studies, Criminology Criminal
Justice Studies, Pre Business, Environmental Studies and Planning and
Kinesiology. These majors have more people applying than the spaces they have.
Their housing options are Co ed housing, Apartments for single students, Special
housing for international students and Wellness housing. They provide a variety
of options for the students. 90 percent of freshmen live on campus first year. 37
percent of other undergraduates live in campus housing. 60 percent of people at
sonoma state apply for financial aid. 70 percent of those 60 percent were offered
financial aid. 27 percent of the 60 percent offered aid had their full need met. The
sports and activities they have to offer are Model United Nations and Club Women s
Lacrosse. Their student faculty ratio is 25:1 . Other Application requirements they
have are rigor of secondary school record and standardized test scores. What i like is
they offer political science and have a
42. Theoretical Perspectives In Social Work
In the professional field of Social Work, there are many terminologies that individuals
outside of this group may not understand. During the process of assessing a problem
in a family, there are different theoretical perspectives that helps social workers
understand different aspects of family situations. There are eight theoretical
perspectives that helps social workers understand family s dynamic and situations.
These theoretical perspectives are; system perspective, conflict perspective, exchange
and choice perspective, social constructionist perspective, psychodynamic perspective,
developmental perspective, social behaviorperspective and humanistic perspective.
System perspective see s human behaviors as the outcome of interactions within
and among social systems of interrelated parts. These social systems of interrelated
parts consist of people within the family, friends, school and work. System
perspectives can be understood as the subsystem of larger systems, where each
system has its unique identity but they are all interdependent. From a system
perspective, behaviors are influenced from the past which are learnt from within the
family and other social systems. Within a system perspective, there are smaller
systems that a Social Worker may consider for a more holistic view. This is done by
considering the role the physical and social environment has on a person s behavior
as well as protective and risk factors that influences positive and negative outcomes.
43. Sylvanas Windrunner Research Paper
As an undead leader who has lived through many wars, and fought off many
enemies, Sylvanas Windrunner would tear Canada up into little pieces. Sylvanas,
the Warchief of the Horde, would be the perfect fit for getting rid of Canada, and
their rebels. Sylvanas Windrunner is from the Word of Warcraft franchise. World
of Warcraft is a fantasy video game that you play online, and it is my favorite video
game because of the game s rich storylines and characters. She is the leader, or
warchief of the faction called The Horde . In early life, Sylvanas Windrunner was
appointed ranger general for her homeland of Silvermoon City. During her time as
a general, there was a war going on with a group of very violent people that called
themselves The Scourge . Sadly, she was murdered in the war against The Scourge
alongside her brother, Lirath. The leader of The Scourge, Arthas Menethil, was a
great enemy to Sylvanas Windrunner. Instead of giving her a clean... Show more

During her ranger days, she was a skilled huntress. After she was brought back, she
gained many new magical abilities. She ripped her own soul out of the
underworld, and brought herself back to life. After that, she was given darker,
magical powers. Sylvanas is described as having powers such as bringing the dead
back to life. This comes in handy because when she kills the enemy s troops, she
can bring them back to life and have them under her control. This is similar to what
Arthas did with the Scourge, so it s a little ironic. She is also extremely powerful,
although not looking like it. She may look like a normal elven woman, but she has a
plethora of charms casted onto her body, making it nearly indestructible. Sylvans has
1,380,000 health points, which is overwhelming compared to the average human in
the game. Average humans have around 400 health.. The day that Sylvanas marches
to Canada with her millions of troops will be a bad day for them, but an amazing day

44. The Beauty Myth Naomi Wolf Summary
Kaleidoscope of Beauty In our world today, society and the dictionary have a
different opinion on what constitutes beauty. The dictionary defines beauty as the
qualities in a person or a thing that give pleasure to the senses or the mind ( Beauty
). Society has a more cruel definition of beauty. It puts pressure on women who want
to appear beautiful to everyone but themselves. Naomi Wolf, author of The Beauty
Myth, wrote, Many are ashamed to admit that such trivial concerns to do with
physical appearance, bodies, faces, hair, clothes matter so much (486). So instead of
accepting the fact that everybody has flaws, nowadays women will spend
unbelievable amounts of money to try to rid themselves of these flaws just to feel
beautiful. The biggest perpetrators social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These images make little girls and women believe that if they don t look a certain
way they need to change everything about themselves until they look exactly like
those models and celebrities. Society today refuses to accept people who accept
their flaws instead of telling the population that flaws make a person essentially
unique and different. The concept of beauty revolves around three main ideas:
Physical appearance, aging, and losing control of themselves. In The Beauty
Myth, Wolf explains Contemporary standards of feminine beauty have devolved to
a point that can only be described as anorexic, and America s young women are
paying the price through a near epidemic of bulimia and anorexia (486). Girls today
do not feel comfortable in their own skin and try so hard to become somebody else.
She says, The beauty myth tells a story: the quality called beauty objectively and
universally exists. Women must want to embody it and men must want to possess
women who embody it (Wolf 488). Women should want to feel beautiful, but not for
herself, but for the approval from the male population. In this essay it talks about how
women must also compete with other
45. The Pelagic Zone
The pelagic zone of the ocean is also commonly called the open ocean. In depth in
extends from the surface, down to the deepest trenches. However, it does not
include the coasts, near shorelines. The pelagic zone consists of five layers; the
epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathypelagic, abyssopelagic, and the hadopelagic subzone.
The first zone, the epipelagic zone, also known as the euphotic zone extends from
the surface of the water to 200 meters. This is the most commonly explored and
known portion of the pelagic zone. This is where we scuba dive, fish, go on our
cruises, or boat commercially. This portion of the ocean is home to most of the
fish and mammals we know the best. Such as, sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, seals,
corals, rays, jellyfish, sailfish, whales and many other creatures. These all trace
back to the photosynthetic planktons that form the basis of the food chain in this
layer. The epipelagic subzone is also characterized by it s abundance of light.
allowing for the necessary photosynthesis to take place. The next layer of the
pelagic zone is the mesopelagic, this subzone extends from 200 1000 meters deep.
There is very little light, not enough for photosynthesis. This layer, also called the
twilight zone is home to fish such as; big scale fish, ctenophores, firefly squid,
hatchet fish, snipe eels and siphonophores. These fish have some odd adaptations,
one example would be the firefly squid. The squid has four photophores which emit
light. These photophores are
46. Organized Being in Kant’s Groundwork for the
Metaphysics...
Kant s argument that good will is the supreme purpose of man s existence based on
observations of the influence that reason exerts on the will is inconsistent with what
may be observed in nature. It presupposes an intentional cosmos wherein an
organized being s purpose, and thus its standard of value, can be extracted from an
examination of its constitution and faculties. While this presupposition is logically
consistent with the rest of Kant s moral theory it does not coincide with what we can
actually observe in nature. The following essay will examine, one, the idea of an
organized being, secondly, why Kant proposes it, then we will contrast this idea with
what we observe, and finally, analyse the extent of the harm done to the... Show more

Kant proposes that the distinction of purposes between reason and instinct is apparent
because if man s sole purpose was his own well being then the only factor that nature
would allow to leverage his will would be instinct, the desires and inclinations thereof
being entirely sufficient for that end. However, that man must have some other
purpose beyond his own happiness is evident from the influence that reason exerts on
the will. If man s object were his happiness alone then should reason have been
communicated to this favoured creature ...it must only have served it to contemplate
the happy constitution of its nature...but not that it should subject its desires to that
weak and delusive guidance and meddle bunglingly with the purpose of nature. (6)
Reason, in Kant s view, could not have been intended by nature as an auxiliary for
enhancing man s pursuit of happiness. He points out his observation that those who
attempt to employ reason in pursuit of this end often achieve results contrary to it.
So long as we do not doubt the capacity of reason to compel man to set aside his
inclinations we must also accept that nature has intended him for a secondary purpose
as well. Otherwise, Nature would not only have taken on herself the choice of the
ends, but
47. Robotic Exploration And Human Exploration
Ahhh. Robots. Some may think they are creepy and some may be fascinated by
how they work. But how do robots come in handy when exploring space? Robots
come in handy when exploring space because of the fact that robots can travel
further than a human and they also don t need as many necessities as a human
does. People may have different opinions about sending robots versus humans to
space. I am in fact one of those people that have a different opinion. I go back and
forth with believing that well robots are better. Then I believe that humans are
better. When a robot goes to space there is more of a possibility of finding new life.
A robot detects certain things that humans don t. Robotic exploration is necessary to
enable human exploration by setting the context, providing critical information, and
reducing the risk to humans. When sending a human info space that can take months
maybe even years of training. And when sending a robot to space that may take
months even years to build. A robot may also cost A LOT more than a human. I
really can t make up my mind if robots or humans are better. Some of the biggest
achievements of robotic exploration include Ceres, Vesta, and New Horizons.
One of the robots that is up in space is called New Horizons. New Horizons is an
interplanetary space probe that was launched as a part of NASA s New Frontiers
program. New Horizons travelled to Pluto. Well it flew past Pluto in July 14, 2015.
New Horizons was launched January 19, 2006. The goal of New Horizons launch
was to Answer questions about Pluto, its moons, and Kuiper Belt Objects. New
Horizons mission has found evidence of exotic ices flowing across Pluto s surface.
The bluish white coloring featured on Pluto tell us that there is exotic ices. Pluto
undergoes climate variation and sometimes, when Pluto is a little warmer, the
methane ice begins to basically evaporate away. Some of the other surprising things
found out about Pluto is that it has a young surface and it has some mountain
ranges. New Horizons only flew by Pluto, which means it did not settle into a nice
orbit. This is because Pluto is not big enough to have a gravitational pull on New
Horizons. When sending a robot up to space you have to keep in mind
48. Methane Hydrate Formation
There are many challenges that aforementioned two extraction methods are facing,
for example, the permeability of the methane hydrate formation and the ratio between
energy input and output.
Depending on the location, methane hydrate formation exists in various forms. A
certain formation can contain sand as host sediments with methane hydrate mixed
within; similarly, the host sediment can be made of rock, clay, silt, or a mixture of
each. Depending on the composition of the host sediment, the formation has different
mechanical strength, porosity, permeability, degree of saturation and other parameter.
Depending on the location, the permeability of the formation can vary for several
degrees of magnitude. [15] When hot water, steam, or CO2 is ... Show more content

As shown previously, methane hydrate contains 1 mole of methane for every 5.75
mole of water, corresponding to 13.4% methane by mass, in ideal situation. In reality,
this number might be lower. Therefore, the actual energy housed within a methane
hydrate formation is likely to be much lower than that of a conventional gas, coal, or
oil formation with the same volume. Combining with the reality that a methane
hydrate formation can exist with very low methane hydrate saturation (~5%), the
energy housed within such formation will be even lower. Therefore, when extracting
a methane hydrate formation, the maximum energy input for extraction is of
consideration, since if the required input energy is larger than the theoretical output
energy, the whole process will become commercially unfavorable. There is not
enough statistical data to show the net energy output while using thermal injection
method or CO2 injection method. But both of these methods are energy intensive.
For thermal injection method, a constant stream of steam or hot water need to be
produced and injected into the formation. While the constant production of steam or
hot water is already energy intensive, the heat dissipation during injection is also
considerable, since the formations are typically hundreds of meters underneath the
seafloor or hundreds of meters deep in the permafrost. For CO2 injection method, the
CO2
49. Hamlet Disillusionment In Hamlet
William Shakespeare s dramatic presentation of disillusionment within Hamlet, to a
great measure presents the notion that the quality of a leader is derived from one s
possession of integrity. Hamlet s disillusionment which emerges from the discovery
of Claudius regicide and the usurpation of his father s divine position, produces a
plethora of human dilemmas, such as the moral struggle between renaissance and
medieval ideologies, the paralysing effect of uncertainty and the defining nature of
mortality. Thus by exploring the universal complexity of human condition and its
ability withhold integrity, Shakespeare connects to audiences of various historical
contexts.
Hamlet s disillusionment with medieval values establishes an insurmountable ... Show

This is explicated within Act 3 Scene 3 where Hamlet is given the perfect
opportunity to slay the praying king. However, Hamlet s rhetorical question, Am I
to take in the purging of his soul when he is fit and seasoned for his passage? ,
illustrates his envisagement of the moral ramifications, recognising that he would be
condemned by god whilst Claudius would be permitted to heaven with a forgiven
soul. Hamlet s deferment of his enormous burden is therefore not a cowardice act,
but rather the philosophical reasoning of a new age man caught in a situation where
archaic and barbaric conducts are required to accomplish his task. Additionally,
Shakespeare s juxtaposition of
