Essay My First Day At School
Crafting an essay on the subject of "My First Day at School" is a task that may initially seem
deceptively simple, as it revolves around a personal experience. However, delving into the
intricacies of this seemingly straightforward topic poses unique challenges. The difficulty lies not
in the scarcity of content but in the abundance of emotions and details one must navigate to
create a compelling narrative.
Firstly, recounting personal memories demands a careful balance between nostalgia and
objectivity. It involves reliving the mix of emotions – the excitement, anxiety, curiosity, and
perhaps even a hint of apprehension that accompanied stepping into the unknown territory of a
school for the first time. Translating these emotions into words requires introspection and the
ability to articulate the intangible.
Next, weaving a cohesive storyline necessitates a keen sense of storytelling. A successful essay
should not merely string together a sequence of events but should immerse the reader in the
experience. This requires a mastery of descriptive language, the ability to paint vivid imagery,
and a keen awareness of pacing to maintain the reader's engagement.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s. Given the ubiquity of the "first day at
school" narrative, the risk of falling into well-worn tropes is high. The task is to present a unique
perspective or infuse a personal touch that sets the essay apart from the countless others that
exist on the same theme.
In addition, one must consider the broader context of the narrative – how this seemingly
ordinary day shaped one's outlook, influenced future experiences, or left a lasting impression.
This requires a reflective component that transcends the immediate events of the first day,
demanding a thoughtful exploration of personal growth and development.
In conclusion, while an essay on "My First Day at School" appears simple on the surface, the
process of writing it is intricate and multifaceted. It involves navigating the nuances of personal
reflection, storytelling, and the challenge of presenting a unique perspective. The difficulty lies in
capturing the essence of a singular experience that is both universally shared and deeply personal.
And for those seeking assistance in navigating the complexities of essay writing, a variety of
resources are available. Similar essays and more can be explored and ordered through platforms

compelling narratives.

The Miller Analogies Test (Mat) Is Utilized For Graduate
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is utilized for graduate school admissions by
university programs throughout the United States and it is presently regulated by
Pearson. Dr. W. S. Miller of the University of Minnesota created The MAT in 1926.
Throughout the 1920s and 1930s the test was refined and finally administered to all
incoming graduate students at the University of Minnesota in 1940. In 1947, The
Psychological Corporation took over publication of the test to manage how it was
developed and how it is used on a considerable level (Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017).
The publisher of the MAT has always followed formal test construction procedures to
ensure that the test forms maintain the same basic item types as the test before it,

Percentile ranks acquired prior to January 2017 were based on the performance of the
normative group, which consisted of participants taking the MAT for the first time
from January 1st, 2008 through December 31st, 2011(Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017).
It does not cost anything to administer the test because someone cannot choose to
administer the test individually, the MAT is only administered at certain Controlled
Testing Centers (CTC). Controlled Testing Centers are usually colleges and
universities that are testing students that are trying to get into graduate school. The fee
to take the exam varies from CTC to CTC but it averages to around $75. Other fees
include alternative testing site which is $149, the replacement score report fee is
$25 per report, additional transcript fee $25 per transcript, and the score verification
fee is $35 (Fees and Optional Services, 2017).
The MAT has pronounced availability to take the test. The MAT does not have any
fixed national test dates. Every CTC decides when and how often it administers the
test. Participants plan directly with the CTC on when it is most convenient for them
to take the test. The CTCs are set up so that the colleges and universities can test their
own students. All tests administers are provided with a manual of directions to
guarantee adherence to the standardized administration procedures

Are U.S. airport security regulations for flying too strict?
Since 9/11, (America s airport security has) largely been a line of defense ahead of a
departure gate to keep dangerous people and dangerous materials off a plane. By Bin
Laden s calculations, its cost $56 billion since 9/11. In one sense, it is worked as
planned: No planes have been blown up or hijacked for a decade (Airport Security
Statistics). This quote explains that since 9/11 the airport security s line of defense has
been successful so far in keeping the people and the dangerous materials off the
planes. While there are people who think that airport security is too strict, there are
others who think that it is just fine the way it is right now. They check every ... Show

Part of the directions the airport security say is to take off any metal you have and
place them in the bin. As the direct result of the September attacks, congress passed
the Aviation and Transportation Security Act, which created the T.S.A, an
organization with improving airport security by way more through screening
procedures for passengers and their baggage (Vegas). By paying more attention
during long lines, people can get through quickly and safely. Also, the travelers will
be happy that they got to their destination safely. Although it may seem as though the
rules and regulations are extremely strict, there are in fact just right for liquids.
Although the airport security could have chosen to ban all liquids because
flammable liquids like gasoline and alcohol could be smuggled aboard, that is
actually not the case. The T.S.A and our security partners conducted extensive
explosives testing since August 10, 2006 and determined that liquids, aerosols, and
gels; in limited quantities, are safe to bring aboard an aircraft (Montaldo). This quote
shows that the T.S.A is always improving the rules and maintaining the safe
environment. The T.S.A is not a cruel dictator who just imposes his rules, but they
take into consideration the comfort of the airline customers as well. As you can see
this is why airport security regulations for flying

The Optimal Temperature Of Bacillus Lichenformis
Bacterial...
Abstract The optimal temperature of Bacillus lichenformis bacterial amylase and
Aspergillus oryzae fungal is determined by mixing a starch solution into the
bacterial and fungal amylases that are put in four different temperatures (0, 20,
55, 85 degrees Celsius). Then after every two minutes, ending at the ten minute
mark, a small sample of the starch amylase mixture is put into a well with a couple
drops of iodine to help show the change in starch. This was done because when
iodine is exposed to starch it changes color. Based on the color chart given in our
lab manuals, the reaction of the amylase to the starch solution will give the starch
amylase mixture in the iodine a yellow color to signify if the presence of solely
iodine and/or little starch depending on temperature. This means that the amylase
broke down the starch solution because its temperature was optimal. Majority of
the results came out black or dark brown therefore the amylase wasn t put in the
proper temperature to break down the starch solution at a faster pace. The
temperature that seemed most optimal was at 55 degrees Celsius for both fungal
and bacterial because it showed a more brown to yellowish color when put into the
iodine. That showed that the amylase was able to break down the starch at a faster
rate because it was working at its optimal temperature. Introduction Enzymes are
biological catalysts that facilitate specific chemical reactions (Raven, et al., 2014).

Dreams Are From The Book Your Soul Is Writing About You
Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you Marsha
Norman The Interpretation of Dreams was published by Sigmund Freud in the
year 1900 as a thought provoking compilation of ideas surrounding the cognitive
processes of dreaming. Although it has been translated and edited since its
original publishing date, it reads as if to hold true to Freudian fashion; addressing
levels of consciousness and their effects on how specific dreams are formed. Freud
makes a clear and reverent effort to acknowledge others theories, as well as his own,
in an attempt to explain the unexplainable. His focus throughout the text is to
hypothesize on how regression, resistance, and censorship all play a delicate role in
the remembrance and interpretation of ones dreams. It is Freud s skillful application
of resistance and censorship that grants further contemplation of why dreams are so
soon to fade and be forgotten upon awakening. It is also this application that guides
the reader into how these two processes may require one to use free association to
interpret such dreams. Resistance and censorship are explained by Freud as a
cognitive process that happens due to the separation of waking and sleeping states.
He presents the idea that while one sleeps, the cognitive censorship used throughout
waking hours is significantly reduced, making dreams possible. However,
immediately present upon awakening is mental resistance, resulting in the forgetting
or fragmenting of
Cracking Our Dna Barcode Analysis
Comparison and Contrast of Cracking Our Genetic Barcode

candid example of how New York City s World Trade Center massacre killed more
than 3, 000, left millions of bodies distorted, charred, and decayed. It was the staple
for the ever increasing need for DNA fingerprinting.
In current events, DNA fingerprinting is a vital instrument soldiers who are

Marieb stated (435), DNA fingerprinting can prove that a suspect was actually at
the scene of a crime and establishes innocence. Before the evolution of DNA
fingerprinting, persecuting attorney and our judicial system depended on many
aspects of reliable sources to convict a criminal. They depended on the
eyewitnesses who were likely to recant on their statements, tampered evidence, and
bias jurors. Presently, DNA fingerprinting have aided in exonerating hundreds of
cases including Ray Krone, also known as The Snaggle Tooth Killer. He was
exculpated by DNA evidence after he served 10 years and was facing the death
penalty for a crime he didn t commit. He was wrongly convicted of murder and the
circumstantial evidence at the time was the bite marks they found on the victim s
body resembled his teeth. DNA revealed Kenneth Phillips was the culprit. He was the
100th inmate vindicated through DNA from death row since 1976. Even though, this
is a fascinating process. It is not a perfect system. Similarly, fingerprints were used in
the past, yet the current progression speaks for

The And Caste Discrimination By Kancha Ilaiah s Why I
Am...
All religious communities in India are afflicted by an unfortunate evil tendency of
exclusion. A sad trend of hatred has emerged in the battle against casteism and caste
based discrimination. Kancha Ilaiah s Why I am not a Hindu (the non fictional
bestseller of 1996) has been constructed as an expression of the voice of post
Independence Dalitbahujan consciousness, which was an integral part of their socio
political movement. Born in a small South Indian Telangana village in the 1950s, his
is the voice of the harassed subaltern, which exposes rampant cultural contradictions
and practices. He talks about the marginalized and victimized identity, where they
were not only neither included nor respected, but also looked down upon and
repelled. The battle against disturbing dehumanizing social evils is manifested in the
emergence of disparate groups having one thing in common deep hatred for Hindus.
He implores the upper stratas to read and understand what the Other (here, an un
Hindu Indian) has to say, for, he believes that those who refuse to listen to new
questions and learn new answers will perish and not prosper. The voice of the
alienated existence of the subalterns on every level of experience makes us question
certain trends of action and thoughts inscribed in our subconscious and evident in our
consciousness. Though the book brims with undisguised and unidirectional attacks
and opinions, which the readers might find appallingly biased, yet his voice deserves

Observation In Elementary School
Standing in front of about 20 beaming eyes staring at me I struggled to keep my
composure. You teach the class! I was just a small child in the fifth grade. I was
stuck inside a deep hole that I had no control over. Well? What are learning? At that
moment tears started rolling down my cheeks and my head was in the dumps. As
ten and eleven year olds we didn t have a clue what was right or wrong. I never
believed in punishment for kids that are young to this day. In my everyday
elementary schoolclass the goal was to have the best time and learn new materials.
Although my classmates and I were basically stuck in the room the whole day
besides recess, there was always an urge to get out of our seats and yell something to
one another.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The volcano had finally reached its boiling point and it was ready to erupt. While
our teacher was lecturing us I was stuck in an annoying confrontation with two
other students in the class. I was afraid of being yelled at; I didn t want to be
blamed for anything. I tried to tell the other students to stop talking, but it just
wasn t working. Alex! Stop interrupting the class. At this point I knew I was done.
My day was going to get worse. Out of the other two students, why did it have been
me? She forced me to stand in front of my class and attempt to teach the lesson.
The walk of shame, head down knowing that this was the worst possible scenario. I
stood in front of everyone glaring at me, making it seem like I was the problem. I
couldn t teach, I was speechless, all of the thoughts going through my head had
vanished. With a blank face I was constantly being interrogated by my teacher. Have
you learned your lesson? Why me? I don t deserve this, I thought. I tried holding back
the tears in my eyes but it was too late. Tear drops that rushed like a waterfall rolled
down my face. I ran back to my desk and faced my head straight down. At this point
class was coming to an end and my teacher decides to assign a two paragraph paper

The Problem Solving Process Will Begin
When confronted with a problem, the question we should first begin asking
ourselves is What should I do? We will first need to examine the problem and
determine the steps needed to take in order to ensure the problem is solved
satisfactorily. This is where the problem solving process will begin. For this
assignment, I will be focusing on Scenario 1: You have worked at your company
for eleven (11) years. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor s degree in
order to increase your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your
degree, when a supervisor s position in a competing company becomes available in
another state. The start date is in two (2) weeks, during your final exam period for
your courses. The position offers a $15,000 per year salary increase, a car
allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former supervisor works for the
company and is recommending you for the position based on your outstanding job
performance; if you want the job, it s yours. All of the other supervisors at this
level in the company have Master s degrees, so you know that you would be
expected to earn your Bachelor s degree and continue on to a Master s degree. Your
present company offers tuition reimbursement, but the new company does not. (cite)
For this particular scenario, I have been tasked with making a decision on whether or
not I should change my job, an opportunity that will increase my salary; or stay in a
position that will allow me to further my educational
Fraud Is A Global Problem
Fraud is deliberate deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain. Fraud is both a civil
wrong (i.e., a fraud victim may sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud and/or
recover monetary compensation) and a criminal wrong (i.e., a fraud perpetrator may
be prosecuted and imprisoned by governmental authorities).
Fraud is not prejudice; culture, ethnicity, and religion, are not factors in determining
who will commit fraud. Finding fraud can be difficult. We re constantly reminded at
every client consultation, audit, fraud and accounting conference we attend that fraud
is inherently hidden. Deception, alteration, fabrication and the destruction of

An area where many entrepreneurs lack the skill set or time to address is the

cases this is one of the reasons they hired CFO Strategic Partners. Unfortunately, the
lack of strict policies and procedures can make them most susceptible to fraudulent

Democracy to Dictatorship in Lord of the Flies Essay
Democracy to Dictatorship in Lord of the Flies
Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a novel that represents a microcosm of
society in a tale about children stranded on an island. Of the group of young boys
there are two who want to lead for the duration of their stay, Jack and Ralph.
Through the opposing characters of Jack and Ralph, Golding reveals the gradual
process from democracy to dictatorship from Ralph s democratic election to his lack
of law enforcement to Jack s strict rule and his violent law enforcement.
Upon the arrival of the boys to the island Jack immediately found himself in the
center of a power struggle. Although the conflict was brief, there was still a very
obvious confrontation between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their punishment for slacking off was nothing, and so they got away with
accomplishing nothing. Jack saw this along with many other flaws in Ralph s
democracy and continually tried to force his style of governing over the boys.
Jack s view on how the group should be run didn t completely show through until
he actually became the leader later on in the novel, but there were hints before that
as well. His tendency towards strict leadership was evident ever since he and his
choirboys were introduced as characters. He kept them very much in line. The group
of cloaked boys began to scatter from close line. The tall boy shouted at them. Choir
stand still! Wearily obedient, the choir huddled into line and stood there swaying in
the sun (Golding page #). He allowed them little room to maneuver, made them listen
and follow orders without question.
Jack was a very power hungry young boy. Although he doesn t have any power at
the beginning of the novel, he took every opportunity to take the position of chief
and was eventually successful. Jack s dictatorial style of leadership contrasted very
directly with the more democratic and passive style of Ralph. Jack ruled with an
iron fist, allowing no one to question him or his leadership. Jack represented the
wanting for a single, all powerful leader to guide the followers of society using any
means he feels necessary.
Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Research Paper
The historical fiction novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, follows the Logan
family as they fight against racism and prejudice during the 1930s in Mississippi.
The author, Mildred D. Taylor, uses weather specifically thunderstorms to
foreshadow significant events throughout the novel. During the rainy season, the
Logan children along with their friends walk to school while the white children
have the luxury of a school bus. However, the white children abuse their privileges
by splashing the black children with mud. Taylor uses the weather to foreshadow
the event of the school bus getting stuck in a ditch when Cassie states, At first the
rain had merely splotched the dust, which seemed to be rejoicing in its own
resiliency and laughing at the heavy drops thudding against it; but eventually the
dust was forced to surrender to the mastery of the rain and it churned into a fine red
mud that oozed between our ankles as we marched miserably to and from school,

In her description of the battle between the rin and the mud, the rain symbolizes the

In the novel Lord of the Flies William Golding uses many forms of symbolism to

the reader not only think about the problems that arise in the book, but also hints

Shortly after a problem arises and they make another rule We ve got to have
special people for looking after the fire. Any day there may be a ship out there he
waved his arm at the taut wire of the horizon and if we have a signal going they ll
come and take us off. (Golding, 42). At this point in the novel their society has its
first hopes of rescue and success. The fire symbolizes the society wanting saved
from the island and the burning hope that it may one day happen. The Beast also
appeared throughout the story as the fear of the society not succeeding and the
apparent danger they were in. Piggy doesn t believe that the fear is real. He states
that I know there isn t no beast not with claws and all that, I mean but I know there
isn t no fear, either (Golding, 83). The beast represents the evil of the boys and the
darkness that surrounds the society. Jack on the other hand believes that the beast
is real and says Bollocks to the rules! We re strong we hunt! If there s a beast, we ll
hunt it down! We ll close in and beat and beat and beat ! (Golding, 102). Jack
believes that the beast can be hunted down but the beast is a symbolism for the fear
inside of each and every one of them. The beast cannot be hunted or killed because
the beast is them. Golding s great use of imagery confused readers at first but is deep
and meaningful in the plot. The use of the beast, fire, and the

Harlem...
Langston Hughes was an American born writer during the Harlem Renaissance era.
His work shed light on issues that white Americans turned their backs to. Racism and
segregations was, at one time, a very large issue in our country. Hughes addressed
that issue throughout poetry and in doing so, became the most popular writer of his
time. He opened the eyes of many, while accurately portraying African American
culture in such a way that everyone couldn t respect. The passion that Hughes had for
his topics is easily identified in his poems. A great majority of his poems relate back
to African American customs, struggles, heritage, and music. For that reason, Hughes
became listed among the greatest versatile writers of his time. Langston Hughes
supported equally then, and today his work is remembered as such. Mother to Son,
is the first poem that I read by Hughes. Just by the title alone, I knew that this work
was going to be heavy. Throughout the story, Hughes mother references crystal
stairs, stating that life for me ain t been no crystal stairs. The stairs that she is
referring to would be the stairs that lead to equality and freedom. She also states that
the stairs she took were splintered and torn up. To me, that symbolizes slavery and
the troubles she endured throughout her life thus far. Knowing that, the term crystal
stairs then becomes a bit easier to grasp. White people are given the crystal stairs,

What Does Girl On Fire Mean
Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys is an empowering song wrote to emphasize the strength
in women of all jobs. Alicia Keys, who has always promoted female empowerment,
wrote this song to explain how she was feeling in a woman in this society. Within the
song and the music video, the song talks about a women who really has the typical
femalejob. She is a mom who takes care of her kids, cleans, and really runs the
household. The message, however is not shaming women who are in this role.
Instead, the song speaks of how women are strong no matter what role they play in
the world. Keys speaks about how we live in this world where women are so
oppressed, but because we are so strong, we are going to stand our ground and fight
for what we believe in

I Am About The American Culture And History
Today I am about to meet my prospective grandmother from the States! I am excited
to chat up with some silent generations from America and it is my chance to soak
up some American culture and history. As a foreigner who never had the
opportunity to talk to someone older than 50; it s a pleasure to see how thing will
end up. Initially, I am not expecting much nor less from the conversations, but to my
wonders, it opened my eye quite a bit to how different culture have a different style
of generationcore values and perspectives in life. And as a Thailand born Taiwanese
college student who flew all the way from Asia to America, this is a blessing to
experience.
My intergenerational partner, Carolyn Zeiger, is 73 years young and a retired
licensed psychologist. She used to work as a meditative practitioner for
individuals who has Parkinson s Disease. Carolyn is a Silent, and I am glad that
we have something in common even before we meet in person. As the students pair
up with their intergenerational partner, I scanned the room attempting to find a
lady with short white hair and a pair of glasses (Based on her photo I saw in the
intergenerational webpage). Like a child looking for his parents, I spotted Carolyn,
and she made eye contact with me. She is a bit shorter than me, and her voice is
astoundingly calm and soothing. Both of us introduced ourselves, and we sat down
to further talk about our lives. My first impression was that my partner is highly

Jesus came as the Savior to Israel and the world, the supreme leader of Heaven. In
the three and a half years He ministered, He performed and accomplished
astonishing feats. He preached life changing sermons, and taught captivating
parables that remain to test today s most educated scholars. He healed hundreds of
incurable diseases, provided food for thousands extraordinarily, calmed storms
suddenly, walked on water confidently, brought people back to life, and selected
just a dozen men, eleven of whom would go on to spend the rest of their lives
fulfilling His mission. He selected hard working people such as fishermen to be His
apprentices, and helped and ate with regular people. He challenged and condemned
religious leaders, who resented and despised Him. He taught in Jerusalem, the cities
of Judea, out in the rural areas, in meadows, on mounds, and from boats in the water
while multitudes attended attentively from the shore. Jesustaught about a place, but
not a place of this world. He never had a family, owned a home, held an office, or
even wrote a book. Though some would debate as Christians we are children of
God, He is seated at the gates of our eternal home in Heaven, sits at the right hand
of God, and played a major role and character in the bestselling book and greatest
story ever told. Many centuries have gone by and He still remains the focus and
shining light for most of the world. Jesus became and is the highest foundation of

The Parallel Lives of Ethan Frome and Edward Rochester
The Parallel Lives of Ethan Frome and Edward Rochester The tale of forbidden
love binds itself within many famous works of literature in order to provoke the
human mind into situations similar to those of Adam and Eve of the Bible. The
forbidden fruit plays an important role in the books of Ethan Frome and Jane Eyre
in the form of unattainable but beloved women, where two men, Ethan Frome and
Mr. Edward Rochester, share common distinguishable attributes. Their serene
sensitive nature soon explodes into a passionate cause, later revealing a bare,
desperate soul that longs for their beloved forbidden fruit. Within Frome and Mr.
Rochester lies an image of a sensitive individual, one that expresses his love to a
special maiden, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The least he can do is enjoy his last moments with Mattie as he takes her to the train
station. Seeing that the departure between them provides too much pain, Ethan
takes the desperate way out by coasting into the big elm tree as it loomed bigger
and closer, and as they bore down on it he thought: It s waiting for us: it seems to
know (170), but unfortunately they still live. Although Frome s desperate action
was intended to save Mattie s love for him forever, he lost the real her as she grew
old and bitter after the accident. On the same hand, Mr. Rochester becomes
desperate too because he wants Jane s forgiveness for the insane wife fiasco. He
tells Jane that he never meant to hurt her because if the man who had but one little
ewe lamb that was dear to him as a daughter, had by some mistake slaughtered it by
its shambles, he would not have rued his bloody blunder more than I [Rochester] now
rue[s] mine [his] (283 284). With that, Jane immediately forgives his desperate plea,
but leaves Thornfield because of her morals concerning a bound marriage. Hanging
their heads low, the two desperate men continue to love their women with a bare, and
battered heart; a heart that at least still beats. Again, the forbidden fruit that was eaten
reaped the consequences that both Ethan Frome and Edward Rochester faced.
However, their sensitive, passionate, and desperate character traits display all attempts

The timeline to appeal is inconsistently stated in two different sections of the
WellCare Medicaid Provider Manual. In Section 5, the manual states that claim
payment disputes must be submitted to WellCare in writing within one year of the
date of the denial of the EOP. In Section 7, the Manual states that Providers have 90
calendar days from the original utilization management or claim denial to file a
provider appeal. Important to both of these provisions is that the appeal time
period does not commence until an EOP or claim denial is received by the
Hospital. In this case, the only written notice the Hospital appears to have received
from WellCare discussing its adjustment of the claim is the April 25, 2013 ERA.
The ERA, however, showed no denied charges, but instead purported (incorrectly) to
pay the entire claim at the contract rate. This is consistent with the verbal
information provided by WellCare s representatives that the claim had not been
denied. Accordingly, the appeal time period never started to run because no claim
denial was sent to the Hospital, and as such, the Hospital s appeals were timely

Industrialization had revolutionized the newspaper industry allowing machines to
print thousands of papers in a night, providing publishers with the ability to provide
more newspapers (Campbell 2001). Hearst and Pulitzer found attention grabbing,
sensational headlines sold more papers. This began the brand of reporting known as
yellow journalism. These publishers were credited with starting the Spanish American
War due to their exaggeration and inflammatory headlines (Campbell 2001).
Although, yellow journalism became the term for this practice of sensationalism and
sometimes outright lies, yellow journalism was derived from a cartoon strip called
the Yellow Kid (see picture 1). First published in Pulitzer s New York Worldit then
moved to Hearst s New York Journal. Critic s coined the phrase yellow journalism to
describe the special non smear yellow ink and the significance of the comic strip

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a major achievement in granting equal opportunity
for everyone regardless of their differences. This piece of legislation crafted a
framework for change and was created with the intent that all human beings be

change their hearts and attitudes, and 50+ years later, we see this legislation is still
regarded and relevant as more and more groups are singled out for their differences.

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Theory
Erikson s Psychosocial Theory is the one that would stick with me the most. Lot of
it makes sense because with the different stages he s mentioned such as trust vs
mistrust, identity vs role confusion, intimacy versus isolations to integrity vs
despair. The trust vs mistrust sticks because of some of the stories and clips that
was in class. With trust vs mistrust the idea is if a child has bad things happen in
certain situations the child will begin to mistrust. While for trust if positive
reinforcement is established the child begins to develop self control and learns to
redirect there feelings or emotions. In one video about an abused girl she was
redirecting her anger toward her baby brother which came from the mistrust of her
abuser.

Geobacter sulfurreducens
Geobacter Sulfurreducens is an obligate anaerobe, non fermentative, non motile
comma shaped rod, gram negative bacteria commonly found in soil (Runge 2003).
Mining for Uranium became a necessity during the Cold War but eventually we
came to our senses The old Rifle Mill in Western Colorado was where The United
States obtained its resources for uranium to help build nuclear bombs. Now that we
have stopped trying to blow eachother up, the lasting effects still linger. Some
microbes such as Geobacter sulfurreducens change uranium from its harmful form
that can be dissolved in water to a form that will not dissolve. This allows it to
settle out and be removed. Vinegar added to the soil containing the microbe helps it
grow. The United States paid for research completed by The Department of Energy
that tested this microbe. The research was conducted on wells, that were
contaminated with Uranium, in the Old Rifle Uranium Mills. The tests were a
success and the uranium levels were initially lowered by over 70%. Later tests
showed the uranium levels were lowered by 90%. Besides lowering uranium levels,
scientist isolated a specific gene of the Geobacter sulfurreducens that might help in
creating a supermicrobe that may be used to clean up uranium sights around the
world.
Propaganda And Its Effect On The World War II
Propaganda, though not the most effective war time strategy, allows people to
come together as one to contribute to the success of the country as a whole.
However with this idea, there is also the idea that they are not whole truths being
told by governments within countries. Propaganda is a form of a lie seen in both
North Korea in the book Escape from Camp 14, and in one of the world s darkest
times, World War II; the world allows these lies to surface due to the fact that they
do no outwardly hurt another race. Adolf Hitler used propaganda to turn people
against Jews, blacks and about everyone else that was not German and he also use
it to make people want to join Nazi army. Franklin Roosevelt or F.D.R also use the
science of propaganda to turn people against Germany, Italy and Japan. Hitler had
first become aware of propaganda and its uses before the First World War. During
the war he saw the effect of British propaganda on the soldiers of the Central
Powers. Later on after the war Hitler wrote a book called Mein Kampf (My
Struggle), he devoted two whole chapters to the study and practice of propaganda.
He once said the psyche of the masses, he wrote, is not receptive to anything that is
weak. They are like a woman, whose psychic state determined less by abstract
reason than by an emotional longing for a strong force will complement her nature.
Likewise, the masses love a commander, and despise a petitioner (Hitler). After many
speeches and papers he wrote on
Racial Prejudice And Stereotypes
Stereotypes are generalized, usually negative, but sometimes positive, beliefs about a
group of people. Prejudice unjustifiably applies stereotypes to a singe member of the
group based on their association with that group. Everyone has different amounts of
prejudice, and though most people will not admit to being prejudiced, every single
person is prejudiced to some degree. Prejudicecan exist at two different levels, an
implicit and an explicit level. Though most people will deny any explicit
prejudices, everyone harbors implicit prejudices. Research has shown that people
who deny racial prejudice often make negative associations known as implicit
racial associations. One cause of negative racial associations is ingroup bias. Since
the beginning of time, people have felt the need to belong to certain groups, which
lead to prejudice by splitting people into us and them, us being the ingroup, and
them being the outgroup. The ingroup, or us, are people who share a common
identity, and the outgroup, or them, is anyone who does not share this identity or
belong to the same group. Ingroup bias develops shortly after identifying ingroups
and outgroups. Prejudice is something that is very prevalent in everyday life. One
example of prejudice that has been big recently is the prejudice white law
enforcement officers have against African Americans. It has been proven that African
Americans are more than twice as likely to be shot by law enforcement officers
Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac Essay
Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac
Although Leopold s love of great expanses of wilderness is readily apparent, his
book does not cry out in defense of particular tracts of land about to go under the axe
or plow, but rather deals with the minutiae, the details, of often unnoticed plants and
animals, all the little things that, in our ignorance, we have left out of our managed
acreages but which must be present to add up to balanced ecosystems and a sense of
quality and wholeness in the landscape.
Part I of A Sand County Almanac is devoted to the details of a single piece of land:
Leopold s 120 acre farmed out farmstead in central Wisconsin, abandoned as a farm
years before because of the poor soil from which the sand ... Show more content on

These dilemmas brought up in Part II make the Round River essays, inserted as the
modern edition s Part III, titled A Taste for Country, particularly apt, because this is
the section of the book that deals primarily with philosophies. It is here that
Leopold states that poor land may be rich country, and vice versa . It is here that
Leopold introduces the concept, radical then but widely accepted now, that the
planet itself is a living organism and, through the natural cycles of earth, wind, fire
and water, continually replenishes its own means of remaining alive. The human
role in this Round River ecosystem is prominent, of course, and for thousands of
years indigenous people depended directly on the bounty of this natural system to
supply their needs of food and fiber. Although modern civilization has been forced
by its increasing population to create artificial cycles, replacing elk and deer and

Anne Valwood Angel Poetic Techniques
Words to Live By There are many quotes that have deep meanings to me, so it is
difficult for me to pick just one to write about. The difficulty in finding [a] quote(s)
is that almost nobody is going to feel and/or understand the way you interpret a
quote. Quotes have different meanings to everyone, and for some, a quote is not
something that can explained, but something a person must feel. I guess since I
have to choose I would choose the lyrics to Angel by Theory of a Deadman. The
lyrics to Angel include the line, Her halo is broken, but there s fight in her eyes.
This quote has a deep meaning to me because it signifies not only myself but also,
how the struggles I have been through have shaped my personality and made me who
I am today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people say the song is a ballad about a man who s in love with an angel but
realizes that he eventually has to let her go; while others interpret the song as being
about a man who falls in love with a girl but the girl has gone through a tough time
and ends up killing herself, thus becoming an angel. As someone who has gone
through an insane amount of tough experiences in her life from being bullied
from the time she started school at Lanier County until she moved to Valwood this
song has a meaning to me that cannot simply be expressed in words. The quote is
more than just the lyrics of a song. The words are an encouragement, and they are
meaningful. They inspire me to remember that even when I get knocked down I
need to get back up and be ready to fight. This quote is not simply something that
can be expressed in words because it conveys an emotional feeling that is
significant to me. The quote I chose is meaningful to me because it is about
someone who has been beaten down in ways others may not be able to comprehend,
but she prevails above all odds and is stronger and wiser for what she went
Character Analysis Of Bushberry s Bushwick
Bushwick, directed by Johnathan Milott and Cary Murnion, is a frantic storyline of
cat and mouse and becomes obnoxious the more you watch. The storyline premises
more excitement than is displayed, and the characters fail the glue this story together.
A college student named Lucy (Brittany Snow) comes back to her hometown in
Brooklyn on a subway, when she walks into a civil war outbreak within the streets
of Brooklyn s Bushwick neighborhood. The state of Texas is abiding by the
government operations and militia forces have been sent to destroy and wreak
havoc in the streets of Brooklyn, so that they can claim this territory as their East
Coast base. Lucy then becomes acquainted with a burly war veteran, Stupe (Dave
Bautista), who helps her travel across the city into safety. The intense escape extends
for a treacherous five block course and becomes bloodshed after each block. Lucy
and Stupe must depend on each other to survive the militia forces.
Brittany Snow and Dave Bautista do a great job showing their emotion throughout the
film, yet it might have been too much. This film was directed poorly, after every ten
to fifteen minutes, the characters would cry hysterically, even while the war is going
right outside the door. This made it difficult to watch, because the characters would
stop to talk about their personal lives, yet their major priority should be getting to
safety. This was one of the major faults throughout this film.
Brittany Snow is an incredible actress
Persuasive Essay On Michelle Obama
The one leader s commitment to the field of healthcare I would estimate on is
Michelle Obama. Michel would characterize her administration style as the First
Lady of the United States, by utilizing her position in people, in the generals eye to
address the issue of adolescence obesity. Her program Let s Move!, propelled in
2010, was focused on closure the epidemic of adolescence obesity in one era.
Today, 33% of all kids in the United States are overweight and will probably
confront diabetes or other obesity related medical issues later in their lives. The
First Lady requested that Americans consider how national uses on weight related
conditions, at present about $190 billion every year, will increase if the condition
of the country s wellbeing doesn t change. The Let s Move! program was intended
to handle the issue by instructing parents; establishing access to nutritious, moderate
nourishment; providing healthy foods in schools; and urging children to be all the
more physically active. The program started to see improvements in the spring of
2014, when the Center for Disease Control detailed a 43% drop in rates of obesity
among 2 to 5 year olds (Retrieved May 18, 2017 from, http:/

test for a leader, in healthcare services administrations and earlier periods, is the way
by which to alter three fundamental segments of the relationship to pass on regarding

Essay My First Day At School

  • 1. Essay My First Day At School Crafting an essay on the subject of "My First Day at School" is a task that may initially seem deceptively simple, as it revolves around a personal experience. However, delving into the intricacies of this seemingly straightforward topic poses unique challenges. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of content but in the abundance of emotions and details one must navigate to create a compelling narrative. Firstly, recounting personal memories demands a careful balance between nostalgia and objectivity. It involves reliving the mix of emotions – the excitement, anxiety, curiosity, and perhaps even a hint of apprehension that accompanied stepping into the unknown territory of a school for the first time. Translating these emotions into words requires introspection and the ability to articulate the intangible. Next, weaving a cohesive storyline necessitates a keen sense of storytelling. A successful essay should not merely string together a sequence of events but should immerse the reader in the experience. This requires a mastery of descriptive language, the ability to paint vivid imagery, and a keen awareness of pacing to maintain the reader's engagement. Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s. Given the ubiquity of the "first day at school" narrative, the risk of falling into well-worn tropes is high. The task is to present a unique perspective or infuse a personal touch that sets the essay apart from the countless others that exist on the same theme. In addition, one must consider the broader context of the narrative – how this seemingly ordinary day shaped one's outlook, influenced future experiences, or left a lasting impression. This requires a reflective component that transcends the immediate events of the first day, demanding a thoughtful exploration of personal growth and development. In conclusion, while an essay on "My First Day at School" appears simple on the surface, the process of writing it is intricate and multifaceted. It involves navigating the nuances of personal reflection, storytelling, and the challenge of presenting a unique perspective. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of a singular experience that is both universally shared and deeply personal. And for those seeking assistance in navigating the complexities of essay writing, a variety of resources are available. Similar essays and more can be explored and ordered through platforms like HelpWriting.net, providing invaluable support in translating personal experiences into compelling narratives. The Miller Analogies Test (Mat) Is Utilized For Graduate The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is utilized for graduate school admissions by university programs throughout the United States and it is presently regulated by Pearson. Dr. W. S. Miller of the University of Minnesota created The MAT in 1926. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s the test was refined and finally administered to all incoming graduate students at the University of Minnesota in 1940. In 1947, The Psychological Corporation took over publication of the test to manage how it was developed and how it is used on a considerable level (Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017). Percentile ranks acquired prior to January 2017 were based on the performance of the normative group, which consisted of participants taking the MAT for the first time from January 1st, 2008 through December 31st, 2011(Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017). It does not cost anything to administer the test because someone cannot choose to administer the test individually, the MAT is only administered at certain Controlled Testing Centers (CTC). Controlled Testing Centers are usually colleges and universities that are testing students that are trying to get into graduate school. The fee to take the exam varies from CTC to CTC but it averages to around $75. Other fees include alternative testing site which is $149, the replacement score report fee is $25 per report, additional transcript fee $25 per transcript, and the score verification fee is $35 (Fees and Optional Services, 2017). The MAT has pronounced availability to take the test. The MAT does not have any fixed national test dates. Every CTC decides when and how often it administers the test. Participants plan directly with the CTC on when it is most convenient for them to take the test. The CTCs are set up so that the colleges and universities can test their own students. All tests administers are provided with a manual of directions to guarantee adherence to the standardized administration procedures

By Bin Laden s calculations, its cost $56 billion since 9/11. In one sense, it is worked as planned: No planes have been blown up or hijacked for a decade (Airport Security Statistics). Although the airport security could have chosen to ban all liquids because flammable liquids like gasoline and alcohol could be smuggled aboard, that is actually not the case. The T.S.A and our security partners conducted extensive explosives testing since August 10, 2006 and determined that liquids, aerosols, and gels; in limited quantities, are safe to bring aboard an aircraft (Montaldo). This quote shows that the T.S.A is always improving the rules and maintaining the safe environment. The T.S.A is not a cruel dictator who just imposes his rules, but they take into consideration the comfort of the airline customers as well. • 7. The Optimal Temperature Of Bacillus Lichenformis Bacterial... Abstract The optimal temperature of Bacillus lichenformis bacterial amylase and Aspergillus oryzae fungal is determined by mixing a starch solution into the bacterial and fungal amylases that are put in four different temperatures (0, 20, 55, 85 degrees Celsius). Then after every two minutes, ending at the ten minute mark, a small sample of the starch amylase mixture is put into a well with a couple drops of iodine to help show the change in starch. This was done because when iodine is exposed to starch it changes color. Based on the color chart given in our lab manuals, the reaction of the amylase to the starch solution will give the starch amylase mixture in the iodine a yellow color to signify if the presence of solely iodine and/or little starch depending on temperature. This means that the amylase broke down the starch solution because its temperature was optimal. Majority of the results came out black or dark brown therefore the amylase wasn t put in the proper temperature to break down the starch solution at a faster pace. The temperature that seemed most optimal was at 55 degrees Celsius for both fungal and bacterial because it showed a more brown to yellowish color when put into the iodine. That showed that the amylase was able to break down the starch at a faster rate because it was working at its optimal temperature. Dreams Are From The Book Your Soul Is Writing About You Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you Marsha Norman The Interpretation of Dreams was published by Sigmund Freud in the year 1900 as a thought provoking compilation of ideas surrounding the cognitive processes of dreaming. Although it has been translated and edited since its original publishing date, it reads as if to hold true to Freudian fashion; addressing levels of consciousness and their effects on how specific dreams are formed. Freud makes a clear and reverent effort to acknowledge others theories, as well as his own, in an attempt to explain the unexplainable. His focus throughout the text is to hypothesize on how regression, resistance, and censorship all play a delicate role in the remembrance and interpretation of ones dreams. It is Freud s skillful application of resistance and censorship that grants further contemplation of why dreams are so soon to fade and be forgotten upon awakening. It is also this application that guides the reader into how these two processes may require one to use free association to interpret such dreams. Resistance and censorship are explained by Freud as a cognitive process that happens due to the separation of waking and sleeping states. He presents the idea that while one sleeps, the cognitive censorship used throughout waking hours is significantly reduced, making dreams possible. However, immediately present upon awakening is mental resistance, resulting in the forgetting or fragmenting of

A sad trend of hatred has emerged in the battle against casteism and caste based discrimination. Kancha Ilaiah s Why I am not a Hindu (the non fictional bestseller of 1996) has been constructed as an expression of the voice of post Independence Dalitbahujan consciousness, which was an integral part of their socio political movement. Born in a small South Indian Telangana village in the 1950s, his is the voice of the harassed subaltern, which exposes rampant cultural contradictions and practices. He talks about the marginalized and victimized identity, where they were not only neither included nor respected, but also looked down upon and repelled. The battle against disturbing dehumanizing social evils is manifested in the emergence of disparate groups having one thing in common deep hatred for Hindus. He implores the upper stratas to read and understand what the Other (here, an un Hindu Indian) has to say, for, he believes that those who refuse to listen to new questions and learn new answers will perish and not prosper. The voice of the alienated existence of the subalterns on every level of experience makes us question certain trends of action and thoughts inscribed in our subconscious and evident in our consciousness. Through the opposing characters of Jack and Ralph, Golding reveals the gradual process from democracy to dictatorship from Ralph s democratic election to his lack of law enforcement to Jack s strict rule and his violent law enforcement. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their punishment for slacking off was nothing, and so they got away with accomplishing nothing. Jack saw this along with many other flaws in Ralph s democracy and continually tried to force his style of governing over the boys. Jack s view on how the group should be run didn t completely show through until he actually became the leader later on in the novel, but there were hints before that as well. His tendency towards strict leadership was evident ever since he and his choirboys were introduced as characters. He kept them very much in line. The group of cloaked boys began to scatter from close line. The tall boy shouted at them. Choir stand still! Wearily obedient, the choir huddled into line and stood there swaying in the sun (Golding page #). He allowed them little room to maneuver, made them listen and follow orders without question. Jack was a very power hungry young boy. Although he doesn t have any power at the beginning of the novel, he took every opportunity to take the position of chief and was eventually successful. Jack s dictatorial style of leadership contrasted very directly with the more democratic and passive style of Ralph. Jack ruled with an iron fist, allowing no one to question him or his leadership. Jack represented the wanting for a single, all powerful leader to guide the followers of society using any means he feels necessary.

During the rainy season, the Logan children along with their friends walk to school while the white children have the luxury of a school bus. However, the white children abuse their privileges by splashing the black children with mud. Taylor uses the weather to foreshadow the event of the school bus getting stuck in a ditch when Cassie states, At first the rain had merely splotched the dust, which seemed to be rejoicing in its own resiliency and laughing at the heavy drops thudding against it; but eventually the dust was forced to surrender to the mastery of the rain and it churned into a fine red mud that oozed between our ankles as we marched miserably to and from school, (Taylor 42).... The timeline to appeal is inconsistently stated in two different sections of the WellCare Medicaid Provider Manual. In Section 5, the manual states that claim payment disputes must be submitted to WellCare in writing within one year of the date of the denial of the EOP. In Section 7, the Manual states that Providers have 90 calendar days from the original utilization management or claim denial to file a provider appeal. Important to both of these provisions is that the appeal time period does not commence until an EOP or claim denial is received by the Hospital. In this case, the only written notice the Hospital appears to have received from WellCare discussing its adjustment of the claim is the April 25, 2013 ERA. The ERA, however, showed no denied charges, but instead purported (incorrectly) to pay the entire claim at the contract rate. This is consistent with the verbal information provided by WellCare s representatives that the claim had not been denied. Accordingly, the appeal time period never started to run because no claim denial was sent to the Hospital, and as such, the Hospital s appeals were timely

Mining for Uranium became a necessity during the Cold War but eventually we came to our senses The old Rifle Mill in Western Colorado was where The United States obtained its resources for uranium to help build nuclear bombs. Now that we have stopped trying to blow eachother up, the lasting effects still linger. Some microbes such as Geobacter sulfurreducens change uranium from its harmful form that can be dissolved in water to a form that will not dissolve. This allows it to settle out and be removed. Vinegar added to the soil containing the microbe helps it grow. The United States paid for research completed by The Department of Energy that tested this microbe. The research was conducted on wells, that were contaminated with Uranium, in the Old Rifle Uranium Mills. The tests were a success and the uranium levels were initially lowered by over 70%. Later tests showed the uranium levels were lowered by 90%. Besides lowering uranium levels, scientist isolated a specific gene of the Geobacter sulfurreducens that might help in creating a supermicrobe that may be used to clean up uranium sights around the world.
  • 40. Propaganda And Its Effect On The World War II Propaganda, though not the most effective war time strategy, allows people to come together as one to contribute to the success of the country as a whole. However with this idea, there is also the idea that they are not whole truths being told by governments within countries. Propaganda is a form of a lie seen in both North Korea in the book Escape from Camp 14, and in one of the world s darkest times, World War II; the world allows these lies to surface due to the fact that they do no outwardly hurt another race. Adolf Hitler used propaganda to turn people against Jews, blacks and about everyone else that was not German and he also use it to make people want to join Nazi army. Franklin Roosevelt or F.D.R also use the science of propaganda to turn people against Germany, Italy and Japan. Hitler had first become aware of propaganda and its uses before the First World War. During the war he saw the effect of British propaganda on the soldiers of the Central Powers. Later on after the war Hitler wrote a book called Mein Kampf (My Struggle), he devoted two whole chapters to the study and practice of propaganda. He once said the psyche of the masses, he wrote, is not receptive to anything that is weak. They are like a woman, whose psychic state determined less by abstract reason than by an emotional longing for a strong force will complement her nature. Likewise, the masses love a commander, and despise a petitioner (Hitler). After many speeches and papers he wrote on
  • 41. Racial Prejudice And Stereotypes Stereotypes are generalized, usually negative, but sometimes positive, beliefs about a group of people. Prejudice unjustifiably applies stereotypes to a singe member of the group based on their association with that group. Everyone has different amounts of prejudice, and though most people will not admit to being prejudiced, every single person is prejudiced to some degree. Prejudicecan exist at two different levels, an implicit and an explicit level. Though most people will deny any explicit prejudices, everyone harbors implicit prejudices. Research has shown that people who deny racial prejudice often make negative associations known as implicit racial associations. One cause of negative racial associations is ingroup bias. Since the beginning of time, people have felt the need to belong to certain groups, which lead to prejudice by splitting people into us and them, us being the ingroup, and them being the outgroup. The ingroup, or us, are people who share a common identity, and the outgroup, or them, is anyone who does not share this identity or belong to the same group. Ingroup bias develops shortly after identifying ingroups and outgroups. Prejudice is something that is very prevalent in everyday life. One example of prejudice that has been big recently is the prejudice white law enforcement officers have against African Americans. It has been proven that African Americans are more than twice as likely to be shot by law enforcement officers

It is here that Leopold states that poor land may be rich country, and vice versa . It is here that Leopold introduces the concept, radical then but widely accepted now, that the planet itself is a living organism and, through the natural cycles of earth, wind, fire and water, continually replenishes its own means of remaining alive. The human role in this Round River ecosystem is prominent, of course, and for thousands of years indigenous people depended directly on the bounty of this natural system to supply their needs of food and fiber. Although modern civilization has been forced by its increasing population to create artificial cycles, replacing elk and deer and grouse with beef and hogs and poultry, and replacing the oaks and bluestem grasses which fed the wild meat with corn and alfalfa.
