How To Write An Egg Drop Machine Essay
Egg drop by Tucker Hello today I am going to be telling you some things about my egg drop machine.
And I am also going to be telling you some facts about it . I m going to be telling you about the
machine i m using how often you would see it on a day to day basis.ect... Okay so the first facts that i
m going to tell you are my machine are how often you see it how gravity affects it and a few more
things. Okay my machine design is a basic kinda roll cage for the eggs that we use. And on a day to
day basis you would probably never see this design but it can help because if you drop and egg in this
machine it would save it. And gravity affects my machine by pulling it down but me and Trevor are
going to put balloons on it to create drag. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Okay drag is basically like when you throw a rock or anything and it s attached to a balloon and or
something that kinda floats and it goes down slower . Air resistance plays a massive point in dropping
items because sometimes if the item that your dropping is big it might fall faster because the air doesn
t have enough power for the item. One way that I think will help the impact is to put rubber bands on
all the sides and lift the roll cage for the egg a bit higher than the bottom of the machine so it won t hit

Comparing Literacy And Language Models
Success in education depends on how literate one is. Moreover, being literate is more than being able
to read and write, rather it is the student s ability to apply the skills taught effectively on a job, in
society, and to further their education. Students with strong literacy skills have promising educational
and career options, while most students with weak skills face a future of being undereducated and
underemployed as they struggle with undeveloped personal goals and unfulfilling, low paying jobs
[Hock Deshler, 2003]. Consequently, the ensuing paper will compare literacy and language models
used in a bilingual education program and will select models that would be useful in establishing a
bilingual program.
Comparing Literacy and Language Models
Literacy is defined as a social practice, meaning a form of activity through which we use text in
culturally appropriate ways for specific purposes [Kern, 2000]. On the other hand, Neilson (2014)
argues that the power of literacy lies not just in the ability to read and write, but rather in a person s
capacity to apply these skills to effectively connect, interpret and discern the intricacies of the world in
which they live [Delvene, 2014, para. 1]. Significantly, when these two perspectives are analyzed,
literacy can be seen as a skill and a tool. Whereby, students, can possess the learned skills and still be
unable to utilize these skills in an informative way.

Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist
When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer,
Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The
athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act
spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs
to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist,
1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but
is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the
situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the
entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)?
To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler
thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a
similar scenario. During a match to determine the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets
defeat when he became lost in thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance
of success if they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting on
inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working on school

So processes and practices that firms utilize in order to manage knowledge are really important for
attaining strategic objectives by harnessing complexity and making the best use of existing resources
and capabilities (Zack, 1999a; Zollo and Winter, 2002). It could be forecasted that empirical study of
social network would occupy an important position in the field of management and the guiding role of
the research would become more obvious.( Yonghai, Y,2010)
Several years ago, one of the major challenges in knowledge management is to explore creative ways
to convert the tacit knowledge base in organisations into explicit knowledge (Nonaka, 1994). But with
the development of social network and social media, this challenge seems already had a good solution.
Now more and more researchers have already realized the importance of social networks and social

Cybercrime And Internet Hacking And Its Effect On The...
Cybercrime and internet hacking has been an ongoing issue in contemporary life. Internet hacking is
the practice of modifying or altering computer software and hardware to accomplish a goal considered
to be outside of the creator s original objective. (Merriam Webster). Any individual, business, or even
government with a computer is not safe from these computer criminals. So, the main question is: How
do we fix this cybercrime that does millions of dollars in damage, and should we implement ethical
hacking to improve the security of the internet? It is obvious that hacking is one of the many popular
topics that the millions of users of the World Wide Web search for, because whenever you type the
word hacking on google, hundreds of millions of results appear only in merely seconds. The English
word hacking means the changing of a system to work in ways not intended by the owner, which is in
most cases illegal. Hacking does not only stop on hacking other peoples computers , or someone s
account on social networks, however it can be hacking banks, websites, and companies. The main
problem for the government or IT companies is that they cannot stop the people from accidentally
downloading hacked software. People are tricked into thinking that things on the internet are free and
they will download music, movies, and games for free from random websites. What people do not
know is that nothing is actually for free, although these random websites may actually give you the

Montetesquieu And Voltaire And The Enlightenment
As time continued through the European Scientific Revolution, a wide range of new thinkers and
philosophers emerged in society to bring change to the continent throughout the eighteenth century.
This development of new thinking was known as the Enlightenment. Philosophers of the time,
commonly known as philosophes, sought to bring new information and ideas to the people of Europe
and the world. Ultimately, these ideas pertained to all parts of society, including the government,
economic policies, and religion. The continuation of Enlightenment attitudes reinforced faith in the
ideas of change and progress through entertaining completely new forms of government, new theories
in economic policy that aided the European people, and secular ... Show more content on

This meant that the government should not interfere with the business of the country, which
contradicted dictation of the government over economics, as in a mercantilistic system. Smith was
considered the Father of Capitalism and he entertained the idea that anyone should be able to profit
independently from business and that a government is unnecessary in regulating business.
Collectively, Smith s ideas about changing economic policy were very progressive and their relations
to the Enlightenment reinforced faith in the overall idea of progress. The Enlightenment brought the
emergence of deism, a new religious denomination. Desists believed that God was the creator of the
heavens and Earth but that he was not directly attached to the everyday events of human life. They
believed that he was not always present and watching over the people on Earth. This developed the
idea that mankind had direct power over their lives and the world around them, not God. This new
idea posed the expansion of the concept of relying on human importance and significance within the
world. This went hand in hand with the belief that humans could be responsible for earthy events and
accomplishments, and that these occurrences did not have to be connected to God. This so called
progress gave man more confidence in his own personal abilities and skills without having to rely on
God for everything, thus making it a very

The LGBQT Community
The LGBQT community have made great strides into achieving their goal and legalizing gay
marriage. However despite gay marriage becoming legal and the normalization of homosexuality, the
LGBQT community continues to face scrutiny over their lifestyle. I will be talking about the various
conflicts the community faced in the past and continues to face in the present. And the various
sociological concepts that links as to why homosexuality is seen by society as deviance , such as the
Functionalist perspective and Socialization. According to the American Psychological Association, the
current scientific understanding is that individuals are usually aware of their sexual orientation
between middle childhood and early adolescence (2008). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The roles were functional because women were limited by the physical restraints of pregnancy and
unable to leave home for a long time. Once the roles were established it was passed long through
generations since it kept the family system functioning properly. During the war many women took
the mens job seeing as the men were away in war. When the men returned from war and wanted to
reclaim their jobs, society fell into imbalance because women did not want to relinquish their
positions and also because the women were able to the mens job as well as they did. When it comes to
sexuality functionalist stress the importance of regulating sexual behavior that ensure marital cohesion
and family stability. Functionalist sees the family unit as the most important component in society and
they promote family preservation. From Functionalist point of view homosexuality cannot be
promoted as acceptable substitute for heterosexuality. If homosexuality where to be promoted it would
block procreation. So, if homosexuality were to occur primarily it would cause dysfunction to society.
The problem of sexuality emerged in the 19th century as biological, social, psychological and moral
concern. Homosexual was first defined as a kind person and later changed. With the change of
definition of homosexuality led to social anxieties from the threat of

Post WW II and Japan Essay
World War II took place beginning at 1939 and ending in 1945. Japan was the last opposing country to
surrender to the US Allies on September 2nd, 1945. Ending the long, horrific seven year war.
Upon Japan s admitted defeat, the U.S. invaded and took occupation of the country for seven years.
Though assumed to be a distressing circumstance and expected total domination, it was a benefit to
Japan, for the United States to take control of them, rather than being a disadvantage. The occupation
helped the recovery and development of Japan s economy and also clarified understanding between
the two countries.

Many Japanese people still felt bitter about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which
they tried to exploit the immorality of it by writing books, bashing the U.S. President Truman and the
Americans. However, the U.S. government during the occupation period censored it.
Surprisingly, the American occupation wasn t such an unpleasant experience the Japanese anticipated
it to be. The occupation proved to be an important, constructive phase of Japanese history, a veritable
rebirth, comparable only to the Meiji Restoration (Reischauer 222). What the Japanese expected the
U.S. to be a vindictive and relentless sovereignty, were basically friendly and fair minded people.
The Japanese, for their part, were far from the fanatical fighters the Americans had come to know on
the battlefield, and proved to be a docile, disciplined, cooperative people at home (Reichauer 222).
The United States dominating of Japan transformed the brutal war charged with overt racism into an
amicable peace in which the issue of race seemed to have disappeared. The army of occupation
became an undisputed figure of authority, and the government and its people obeyed without question.
Since militarism and authoritarianism lead Japan into disaster, many Japanese believed that the
democratic rule the Americans eulogized must be the correct way of governing. They enthusiastically

Factors That Empower And Constrain Mncs Essay
The mounting standing of multinational corporations (MNCs) in today s global economy has held
some interest from international organizations, national government agencies and local citizens (Yang
Huang 2011: 3). MNCs have risen to prominence through mergers, procurement and setting up new
enterprises, and they have operated businesses throughout the world (Yang Huang 2011: 3). They
mobilize resources, develop vertical and horizontal production networks and penetrate all kinds of
markets across borders (Yang Huang 2011: 3). These acts have changed the operations of a national
economy as well as the relationships among them (Yang Huang 2011: 3). In this essay, I will seek to
evaluate the factors that empower and constrain MNCs, and thus forge and communicate the
understanding of whether their structural power has been on the incline or on the decline.
To begin with, the research took the direction of understanding of what a multinational corporation is
defined as and its scope and advantage. Peter Dicken s (2008) chapter on Transnational Corporations:
The Primary Movers and Shapers of the Global Economy was insightful in understanding that a
transnational corporation is a firm that has the power to coordinate and control operations in more
than one country, even if it does not own them (Dicken 2008: 106). In Dicken s view, the transnational
corporation has grown into the perception of being the main shaper of the present day global economy
and a chief danger to the

Holocaust Essay On The Holocaust
The intense documentary Genocide reveals the suffering and pain that Jewish people went through. It
also examines how the holocaust took place and what was brutally done to millions of innocent lives
during this horrific time in our history.
The implications of anti semitism on Canada leading up to WWII and the Holocaust was that Jews
needed Canada s help and Canada said no. They followed the stereotypes of what Jews were perceived
as and took in only 5000 Jewish refugees. Based on stereotypes, they took in the group of people that
were the most beneficial to them and Jews were at the bottom of that list with Chinese and japanese
people. There was anti semitism in Germany because of Hitler. While many do not understand the
reason for his hatred against Jews he was the reason that caused anti semitism which was unnecessary.
If Hitler had not created numerous laws discriminating against Jews, the Holocaust wouldn t have
happened. He believed that Jews needed to be removed and were a problem. The world reacted to
Hitler by believing what he said. Hitler was powerful and he was able to brainwash people. The world
slowly listened to what was being told and agreed. If they weren t the group of people that Hitler
targeted they didn t have to worry about anything and it was easier to just follow the crowd.
The long term effects of the Holocaust was that it left thousands of people in mental and physical pain
while killing millions of innocent people. Since, so many

The Effects Of Violence On Groups And Out Groups
This paper aimed to determine whether or not violence affected in groups and out groups. Specifically,
the paper was looking at how and if violence affected divisions between in groups and out groups. The
conductor(s) used the postwar community in Kosovo for the research and experiments. The
researcher(s) found that violence does have an affect on in groups/out group divisions. The
researcher(s) found that violence is shown to increase the division between in groups and out groups
when the distinctions are already evident. Additionally, researcher(s) found that local communities
that experience more violence were more uncertain of people outside their local communities. I think
that this manuscript should be rejected because although the researcher(s) is missing a major true
experiment component, there is not a good argument for causation over correlation, and the paper does
not address the reliability and validity. The experiment used in this manuscript is very well put
together and thoroughly explained. The researcher(s) gives a very detailed account of the experiment,
as they should incase other researchers want to recreate the experiment. It is important that other
researchers are able to recreate the experiment because it shows reliability. However I would
recommend this paper for rejection because the experiment is lacking a control group. According to
Bachman and Schutt (2013), true experiments must have at least one experimental group and one

The paper explores the idea that gender is culturally and socially constructed, a thought that there is
clear evidence of in the novel. Much has been said about Alice Walker s epistolary novel, The Color
Purple, and its feminist dimension; nevertheless, this characteristic represents only the tip of the
iceberg, the eye striking feature, as this book is also a representative example of postcolonial
literature. By illustrating Afro American life both of the colonized and of the colonizers, the narrative
becomes the literature of otherness and resistance, built up around a triple oppression (cultural, racial
and sexual) and around the inner evolution of culture.. There has been much arguing among
postcolonial scholars regarding the structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Quality Of Life In Urban And Rural Life
Urban areas are the human settlement with high population and well established infrastructure. People
who live in urban areas are mostly involved in commerce and trading activities. However, urban areas
are not confined to cities only, but also includes the suburbs areas. On the other side, rural areas are
region situated on the outskirts. There are open space and natural vegetation. Residents practice
agriculture and animal husbandry and use it as a source of income. Many people and families raise
questions on the benefits that one acquires by choosing to live in either urban or rural settlement
(Lucas 31). Quality of life is essential when comparing both urban and rural life. Even though both
locations are best to live, it is crucial to evaluate the similarity and differences between two places.
Various factors such as the diversity, employment opportunities, health, and capacity to make broad
choices influence one decision while comparing urban and rural life. Even though life in both urban
and rural areas offers great benefits, there are some drawbacks in both lives. Both positive and
negative factors determine the quality of life in urban centers. To start with, people living in cities

Essay about AMERICANS VIEWS
A stereotype is the creation of an unfair opinion or view; an individual will take the behavior of one
person and state that all people belonging to that particular group behave in the same manner.
Stereotyping encourages people to react and behave in a manner that is both judgmental and
prejudiced. The perception of Arabs and the Islamic religion has created a system in which prejudices
and stereotypes worked their way so thoroughly into literature, education, history, language, and social
mores that they seem to govern the conflict as much as they are created by it, while newspapers and
television news play a major role in the way we perceive Arabs and the Islamic religion. Movies,

Arabs are seen as terrorists and murderers due to how the media presents them.
The media is not the only key in creating stereotypes; you ll find examples in many different types of
American literature, also. The negative stereotypes about Arabs spill over into the textbooks used in
American schools and are taught in the education system. The education programs imprint young
children with numerous negative images of Arabs. Another form of literature, novels, also perpetuates
stereotypes by romanticizing Arabs as dressing in flowing robes, striving against desert hardships, and
being surrounded by submissive females. Others novels have portrayed Arabs as evil and corrupt;
some portray them as terrorists and murderers. These distortions of the Arab people, in literature have
created a general mistrust and dislike for Arabs among Americans.
Another form of broadcasting of stereotypes comes from the news media. The news programs allow
television journalism to play a major role in setting the political agenda. The news media aired
broadcasts involving the United States government and the American Arab Anti Discrimination
Committee, who reported a 250% increase in hate crimes against Arabs from the previous year. In the

1080 Is A New Zealand s Largest Environmental Debate Essay
1080 is arguably New Zealand s largest environmental debate dating back to the first time was widely
used in New Zealand back in 1957. 1080 is the shortened name for Sodium Fluoroacetate and is a
poison that is mixed into baits that are then used to control a large range of introduced pests like
possums, stoats and rats in New Zealand. Without controlling these pests the New Zealand native bush
and native species would be decimated. 1080 is a very effective poison and it is reported by The
Department of Conservation (DOC) that 1080 kills approximately 98% of possums and 90% of rats in
the targeted drop area. 1080 is dropped on targeted areas via helicopter to ensure that it is not dropped
anywhere it shouldn t be. 1080 costs approximately $17 per hectare according to the DOC website.
New Zealand imports 80% of the total amount of 1080 produce in the world.
How does 1080 work?
1080 works by once it is eaten by the animal it deactivates many enzymes however the important
enzyme that it deactivates is aconitase this is the enzyme that is important in the Krebs cycle that
converts food into energy. The Krebs cycle is the metabolic pathway that is used by all aerobic
organisms to produce ATP. ATP is important as it is the energy that is used in the body to do pretty
much everything. So when the animal cannot produce ATP the bodily systems begin to shut down.
This means that the animal will starve to death therefore it is not a very nice way to die and it can take
up to 40 hours

Neuromancer By William Gibson, The Technology And Violence
In the book Neuromancer by William Gibson, the technology and violence shown by the people and
AI demonstrate that with the progression and evolution of technology, the cruel nature of humans
progresses and evolves with it, and vise versa. This shows that we should be weary and careful of
letting our technologies evolve too fast until we depend on technology too much for bettering our lives
and get controlled by AI s for their own interests. Neuromancer is set in the distant future where
technology has evolved greatly and humankind has even used it to modify our bodies senses, strength,
and mobility. Characters like Molly even explained that she had enhancements done to her eyes

The air had gotten worse; it seemed to have teeth tonight, and half the crowd wore filtration masks
(Gibson 15). Also in this future most animals were extinct, Hey, Christ, the Finn said, taking Case s
arm, looka that. He pointed. It s a horse, man. You ever see a horse? Case glanced at the embalmed
animal and shook his head. It was displayed on a sort pedestal, near the entrance to a place that sold
birds and monkeys. The thing s legs had been worn black and hairless by decades of passing hands
(Gibson 87), and there were also blue mutant carp (Gibson 8) being sold, showing us animals that still
existed were mutated. But not only had technology killed off most of the animals on Earth and
modified people s appearances and abilities, it also needed violence in order to progress. This is
shown by one of Case s thoughts: But he also saw a certain sense in the notion that burgeoning
technologies require outlaw zones, that Night City wasn t there for its inhabitants, but as a deliberately
unsupervised playground for technology itself. (Gibson 11) and his also told through the example of
the Screaming Fist operation, Wasted a fair bit of patriotic young flesh in order to test some new

The Decriminalization Of Victimless Crimes
In society many people are debating whether or not victimless crimes are harmful. Some people
believe there are true victims and particular consequences should follow. Others believe these crimes
are wrong in terms of their morality. The history of victimless crimes, the type of crimes, and society s
view on these crimes can offer evidence as to why these types of crimes are morally wrong and should
be decriminalized. This paper demonstrates that victimless crimes are morally wrong rather than
harmful.
A victimless crime can be described as an act that is illegal, but consensual and lacks a complaining
participant (Veneziano Veneziano, 1993). Those that participate in these types of crimes do so
willingly and without force. Victimless crimes have also been referred to as public order crimes, but
there is debate over whether there are actual victims and whether or not these types of crimes are
harmful (Veneziano, 2014). The common traditional victimless crimes are gambling, prostitution, and
drug use. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Medieval times, people were punished if crimes were committed against family and morals
. At this time in history all power was accorded to the Church. The Church would punish those who
committed acts against family and morals , such as adultery and acts of nonviolent sexual behavior (in
text book). As time went on, the Monarch courts began to take power over the Church. The crimes
against family and morals became crimes against public morals. The debate of whether law should
play a role in the implementation of public morals was started by two English scholars, John Stuart
Mill and Sir James F.

How Does Roald Dahl Use Humor
Roald Dahl uses comedy and humor in many ways throughout many of his books and movies. The
types of humor that he uses ranges from satire to dark humor to low comedy. Roald Dahl adds comedy
and humor to his books and movies to make them more interesting and funny. Humor also emphasizes
certain scenes or lines in a book making them stand out and more memorable. Roald Dahl puts humor
and comedy into his books and movies from experiences in his own life. This makes the funny and
humorous lines or scenes more realistic and relatable. By using types of comedy like physical humor,
satire, and dark humor; Roald Dahl makes it so that the reader is anywhere from chuckling to rolling
on the floor with laughter.
Roald Dahl uses physical humor a lot in books such as Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Some examples of when he uses physical humor are in Matilda The Trunchbull takes a little girl by
her pigtails and spins around in a hammer throw then letting go of the girl. The physical humor in this
is that The Trunchbull is throwing a girl by her pigtails and also when she is landing and she gets up
perfectly happy and ok with a bouquet of flowers. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the physical
humor is when a chubby overweight boy gets shot up the chocolate tube like a bullet. ... Show more

He uses satire in many ways to make scenes funny. In Matilda he portrayed the mean headmaster The
Trunchbull as a plump mean old lady that had warts. This was an exaggeration of the mean, nasty
headmaster that he had when he went to boarding school. He used his personal experiences and he
used them for ideas in his books and movies. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was based off of his
school where the students tested out newly made chocolates and gave there feedback to the chocolate
company. He used satire by making every candy and chocolate amazing, huge, and punishing if the

Notion of Balance in Things Fall Apart by Achebe Essay
Notion of Balance in Things Fall Apart by Achebe
The notion of balance in Achebe s novel is an important theme throughout the book. Beginning with
the excerpt from Yeats s poem, The Second Coming, the concept of balance is stressed as important,
for without balance, order is lost. In the novel, there are many systems of balance which the Ibo
culture seems to depend upon. It is when these systems are upset that things fall apart. Okonkwo, the
Ibo religion, and ultimately, the Ibos autonomy were brought to their demise by an extreme imbalance
between their male and female aspects. These male and female aspects can be generally be described
as the external, physical strength of the male; and the internal, passive, and nurturing ... Show more

Okonkwo is eventually defeated when he finds that his physical strength is not powerful enough to
overcome the white men, and, unable to accept this, he hangs himself. The Ibo Religion s Demise
The Ibo religion falls in much the same way. This religion is centered about the worship of male gods
and ancestors. The female god among these may be the Earth goddess, but Okonkwo offends this
goddess twice in the story to save his masculine image: once when he beats his wife during the week
of peace; the other when he strikes down his adopted son. The gods functions are mainly to help in
war, and to aid the yearly yam crop, which is considered a man s crop. The highest members in the
religious organization are the most respected men in the society; during ceremonies, they don
costumes and play the role of the deceased ancestors. The primary influence women have in this
religion is in the role of the oracle, who is a woman, although she embodies a male god. It is the
women, also, who practice witchcraft, which is greatly feared in the tribes, but it should be noted that
even this is a passive force with only intangible connections to any physical effects.
When the Christian religion is introduced, preaching universal acceptance, many members of the clan
who are dissatisfied with the Ibo religion are drawn toward it. Some of the title less men described as
women in the tribe are immediately drawn to it. Nwoye, who dislikes the practice

The Main Problem With This Type Of Bargaining Is They Are
The main problem with this type of bargaining is they are harder to quantify as these negotiations are
largely private talks that have taken place between representatives of the EU institutions. The
considerable number of amendments gives credence to the view that the EP has an at least some
influence during the co decision procedure, as it has managed to alter the proposal even to a slight
degree. Showing the key flaw within assessing the EP s power owing to amendments ranging from
corrections on technical grounds to seismic political differences. Michael Shackleton a former senior
official in the Parliament administration perpetuates this view as the number of amendments does not
directly correlate to the power of the EP (Hix and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Germany could do this by dividing the European Parliament, this is shown by a tie with 273 votes for
and against with 22 abstentions, meaning that ultimately the proposal was rejected (Hix, Noury
Roland, 2007). This is another key characteristic within the EP, the EP is made up of varying different
nationalities who still have a close affiliation with their member state. Accordingly, power within the
EP itself is not and can never be wholeheartedly supranational as previously argued due to this
member state influence. Correlating with the theory laid out earlier in the essay, and as prescribed by
Robert Thomson (2011) a divided and disjointed EP is not as strong as a united EP. Furthermore, it is
important to consider that this is an obvious statement as there is typically a small number of
abstention; small but enough to stop legislation when an absolute majority is needed. These
abstentions in a close vote, as with the Takeover Directive, practically count as votes against. This is
due to a fixed number of MEPs needed, 314 in the case currently being discussed to vote in favour of
the legislation. Thus a close and divided vote gives a disadvantage to those who want to enforce the
proposal.
A second version of the Takeover directive was proposed after the failure of the initial one and unlike

The Performance Of The Houston Astros Essay
The Houston Astros have been making deals to improve their team, and avoid another collapse like the
one they had last season. Their bullpen could not finish the year strong after being one of the best in
baseball throughout the season. The bullpen, also, collapsed in game four of the ALCS against the
eventual champions. The Royals could not hit Lance McCullers, but once he was removed with one
out in the seventh inning, Kansas City s offense got it going.

The biggest move the Astros have made is acquiring the young closer of the Philadelphia Phillies, Ken

Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature Essay
Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature
Feminism during the eighteenth century has come to be defined by the literature of the time. Women,
who did not have as many outlets as they do today, expressed their political opinions through literature
itself. Although feminist texts existed before the end of the century, women writers in the final decade
were seen as more threatening to the dominant patriarchal system. Following the overthrow of the
government in France, women in Britain believed that a revolution in sentiments, manners, and moral
opinions was possible in their own country (5). Writers such as Mary Wollstonecraft reacted to the
conservative patriarchal society by [drawing] parallels between the domestic ... Show more content on

Unlike men, women who sought political reformer were labeled as unsexed, meaning that it was
unnatural for women as the frail or gentle sex to harbor brutal thoughts, to want to be the equals of
men, or to meddle in politics, all of which make them perverse or unacceptable examples of their kind
(4). During the reactionary decade of the 1790 s, concerns normally thought to be private and
domestic women s education, their choice of husbands, female conduct, sexuality, and manners
became politicized as general topics of interest (14). The outspoken behavior regarding their position
was seen as inappropriate for women. However, not all women addressed these topics with a radical
perspective. Some women, who today would be considered a setback to the feminist movement, took
a rather conservative approach. Women s literary history, in terms of feminism, can be broken down
into three stages of development:
the feminine phase, in which women internalize the male culture s assumptions about female nature;
the feminist phase, in which women are able to dramatize the ordeals of wronged womanhood; and the
female phase, when women turn... to female experience as the source of an autonomous art (14).
Authors such as Jane West and Hannah More were considered part of the feminine stage, Jane Austen
and Ann Radcliffe were associated with the feminist

What Role Does Venus Play In Greek Mythology
Mythology is a story composed of reality and fantasy. Roman Mythology is unique, as its characters
portray attributes that have influenced mans ego. Powers possessed by gods such as wisdom,
endearment , and potential to perform supernatural activities, have affected many individuals habits
and feelings. Although Venus is best known for her peculiar beauty and self love, she is also known
for her role of women in society, and myth influence on the modern day world. The goddess of love
and fertility had a very abnormal birth. The legend arose that Venus was created from the white foam
produced by the severed genitals of Heaven after being thrown to the sea by his son. ( Venus )

Comparing Cloning, Cryonics, And Calorie Restriction
Since ancient times there has always been a debate in the field of philosophy of whether individuals
continue to live after death. Although many religions believe in the concept of immortality . I believe
that immortality could exist, because of cloning, cryonics, and Calorie Restriction. For hundreds of
years people have been attempting to preserve and prolong life, and essentially become immortal.
There are many new technologies in this time of scientific exploration and advancement that claim to
do these things. There are many methods that are currently being studied as ways to either prolong life
or to become immortal. All of these aspects take a different approach to man s constant search for
immortality. Immortality has primarily been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If death is an eternal oblivion then cryonics can offer an alternative and the probability, no matter how
unlikely, cryonics can offer a future. Cryonics is particularly popular among people who want to be
immortal . Cryonics is nothing more than an attempt of raising the dead making them alive again.
Actually the word cryonics is the practice of chilling a dead body at subzero levels in the hopes of
someday reviving it. Cryonics is the practice of cooling a person immediately after death to the point
where the molecular physical decay completely stops, and the presumption is that scientific and
medical procedures currently being created will be able to revive them and restore them to good health
later. A patient held in such a state is said to be in cryonic suspension . There is reasons to believe that
current cryonics procedures will preserve the anatomical basis of the mind. Cryonics became more
efficient with the implementation of nanotechnology in it . The first mention of nanotech occurred in a
speech given by Richard Feynman in 1959. Historically cryonic experiments started in 1962 with the
publication of the prospect of immortality . The main idea of cryonics is that personality, identity, and
memory are going to be stored in cellular structures in the brain. There are many paths to immortality
and it seems that cryonics could be a path to do

macroenvironment factors (Kotler and Armstrong 90). On one hand, microenvironment states that a

macroenvironment states that there are several opportunities and threats that affect one s company.
These factors include demographic, economic, natural, technological, political, and cultural forces.

sometimes even right before we try to enter the plane itself. This will cause bad impressions which
will reduce the number of its customers. Thus, AirAsia should announce any possibility of delays or
cancellations at least half a day before the expected flight schedule. If these were impossible to be
foreseen, AirAsia should compensate either by refunding, giving freebies or even entertaining the
customers. Next recommendation is better customer service. Most of the time, they are not willing to
assist the customers in a prompt way. Unlike other LCC stewardess, AirAsia s stewardesses stay in
their areas trying not to be disturbed by the customers. I recommend that they should properly train

She also helped stimulate their intellectual learnings. She did this by having them play games to

  • 2. How To Write An Egg Drop Machine Essay Egg drop by Tucker Hello today I am going to be telling you some things about my egg drop machine. And I am also going to be telling you some facts about it . I m going to be telling you about the machine i m using how often you would see it on a day to day basis.ect... Okay so the first facts that i m going to tell you are my machine are how often you see it how gravity affects it and a few more things. Okay my machine design is a basic kinda roll cage for the eggs that we use. And on a day to day basis you would probably never see this design but it can help because if you drop and egg in this machine it would save it. And gravity affects my machine by pulling it down but me and Trevor are going to put balloons on it to create drag. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Okay drag is basically like when you throw a rock or anything and it s attached to a balloon and or something that kinda floats and it goes down slower . Air resistance plays a massive point in dropping items because sometimes if the item that your dropping is big it might fall faster because the air doesn t have enough power for the item. One way that I think will help the impact is to put rubber bands on all the sides and lift the roll cage for the egg a bit higher than the bottom of the machine so it won t hit the ... • 3. Comparing Literacy And Language Models Success in education depends on how literate one is. Moreover, being literate is more than being able to read and write, rather it is the student s ability to apply the skills taught effectively on a job, in society, and to further their education. Students with strong literacy skills have promising educational and career options, while most students with weak skills face a future of being undereducated and underemployed as they struggle with undeveloped personal goals and unfulfilling, low paying jobs [Hock Deshler, 2003]. Consequently, the ensuing paper will compare literacy and language models used in a bilingual education program and will select models that would be useful in establishing a bilingual program. Comparing Literacy and Language Models Literacy is defined as a social practice, meaning a form of activity through which we use text in culturally appropriate ways for specific purposes [Kern, 2000]. On the other hand, Neilson (2014) argues that the power of literacy lies not just in the ability to read and write, but rather in a person s capacity to apply these skills to effectively connect, interpret and discern the intricacies of the world in which they live [Delvene, 2014, para. 1]. Significantly, when these two perspectives are analyzed, literacy can be seen as a skill and a tool. Whereby, students, can possess the learned skills and still be unable to utilize these skills in an informative way. Letter and Sound Knowledge For bilingual education ... • 4. Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer, Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist, 1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)? To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a similar scenario. During a match to determine the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets defeat when he became lost in thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance of success if they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting on inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working on school assignments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Cybercrime And Internet Hacking And Its Effect On The... Cybercrime and internet hacking has been an ongoing issue in contemporary life. Internet hacking is the practice of modifying or altering computer software and hardware to accomplish a goal considered to be outside of the creator s original objective. (Merriam Webster). Any individual, business, or even government with a computer is not safe from these computer criminals. So, the main question is: How do we fix this cybercrime that does millions of dollars in damage, and should we implement ethical hacking to improve the security of the internet? It is obvious that hacking is one of the many popular topics that the millions of users of the World Wide Web search for, because whenever you type the word hacking on google, hundreds of millions of results appear only in merely seconds. The English word hacking means the changing of a system to work in ways not intended by the owner, which is in most cases illegal. Hacking does not only stop on hacking other peoples computers , or someone s account on social networks, however it can be hacking banks, websites, and companies. The main problem for the government or IT companies is that they cannot stop the people from accidentally downloading hacked software. People are tricked into thinking that things on the internet are free and they will download music, movies, and games for free from random websites. • 9. Montetesquieu And Voltaire And The Enlightenment As time continued through the European Scientific Revolution, a wide range of new thinkers and philosophers emerged in society to bring change to the continent throughout the eighteenth century. This development of new thinking was known as the Enlightenment. Philosophers of the time, commonly known as philosophes, sought to bring new information and ideas to the people of Europe and the world. Ultimately, these ideas pertained to all parts of society, including the government, economic policies, and religion. The continuation of Enlightenment attitudes reinforced faith in the ideas of change and progress through entertaining completely new forms of government, new theories in economic policy that aided the European people, and secular ... This meant that the government should not interfere with the business of the country, which contradicted dictation of the government over economics, as in a mercantilistic system. Smith was considered the Father of Capitalism and he entertained the idea that anyone should be able to profit independently from business and that a government is unnecessary in regulating business. Collectively, Smith s ideas about changing economic policy were very progressive and their relations to the Enlightenment reinforced faith in the overall idea of progress. The Enlightenment brought the emergence of deism, a new religious denomination. Desists believed that God was the creator of the heavens and Earth but that he was not directly attached to the everyday events of human life. They believed that he was not always present and watching over the people on Earth. This developed the idea that mankind had direct power over their lives and the world around them, not God. This new idea posed the expansion of the concept of relying on human importance and significance within the world. This went hand in hand with the belief that humans could be responsible for earthy events and accomplishments, and that these occurrences did not have to be connected to God. This so called progress gave man more confidence in his own personal abilities and skills without having to rely on God for everything, thus making it a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And the various sociological concepts that links as to why homosexuality is seen by society as deviance , such as the Functionalist perspective and Socialization. Ending the long, horrific seven year war. Upon Japan s admitted defeat, the U.S. invaded and took occupation of the country for seven years. Though assumed to be a distressing circumstance and expected total domination, it was a benefit to Japan, for the United States to take control of them, rather than being a disadvantage. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many Japanese people still felt bitter about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which they tried to exploit the immorality of it by writing books, bashing the U.S. President Truman and the Americans. However, the U.S. government during the occupation period censored it. Surprisingly, the American occupation wasn t such an unpleasant experience the Japanese anticipated it to be. The occupation proved to be an important, constructive phase of Japanese history, a veritable rebirth, comparable only to the Meiji Restoration (Reischauer 222). What the Japanese expected the U.S. to be a vindictive and relentless sovereignty, were basically friendly and fair minded people. The Japanese, for their part, were far from the fanatical fighters the Americans had come to know on the battlefield, and proved to be a docile, disciplined, cooperative people at home (Reichauer 222). The United States dominating of Japan transformed the brutal war charged with overt racism into an amicable peace in which the issue of race seemed to have disappeared. The army of occupation became an undisputed figure of authority, and the government and its people obeyed without question. Since militarism and authoritarianism lead Japan into disaster, many Japanese believed that the democratic rule the Americans eulogized must be the correct way of governing. They enthusiastically ... • 12. Factors That Empower And Constrain Mncs Essay The mounting standing of multinational corporations (MNCs) in today s global economy has held some interest from international organizations, national government agencies and local citizens (Yang Huang 2011: 3). MNCs have risen to prominence through mergers, procurement and setting up new enterprises, and they have operated businesses throughout the world (Yang Huang 2011: 3). They mobilize resources, develop vertical and horizontal production networks and penetrate all kinds of markets across borders (Yang Huang 2011: 3). These acts have changed the operations of a national economy as well as the relationships among them (Yang Huang 2011: 3). In this essay, I will seek to evaluate the factors that empower and constrain MNCs, and thus forge and communicate the understanding of whether their structural power has been on the incline or on the decline. To begin with, the research took the direction of understanding of what a multinational corporation is defined as and its scope and advantage. Peter Dicken s (2008) chapter on Transnational Corporations: The Primary Movers and Shapers of the Global Economy was insightful in understanding that a transnational corporation is a firm that has the power to coordinate and control operations in more than one country, even if it does not own them (Dicken 2008: 106). In Dicken s view, the transnational corporation has grown into the perception of being the main shaper of the present day global economy and a chief danger to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Maori word for water is wai and it should be noted that wai Maori refers to the purest water available. In ancient Waimarama there were many streams that would originate in the foothills and join together in to three main streams that would empty out in to the sea. Starting from the northern end we have the Totara and moving southward we have the Waingongoro and the stream at the northern end is the Pouhokio. Today the Waingongoro no longer empties in to the sea but has been diverted to join up with the Totara. The Pouhokio remains almost where it has always been and it is this river that runs alongside the village settlement. It was the Pouhokio that caused the most damage in the devastating floods of April 2011. Of ongoing concern to the Maori people of Waimarama has been the deterioration and decline of these rivers due to pollution and over use for irrigation. We have a long standing grievance with regard to the Waingongoro River and the recent furore regarding the encroachment by private landowners on to the Public Pouhokio reserve has bought the Pouhokio River back in to the limelight. • 17. Holocaust Essay On The Holocaust The intense documentary Genocide reveals the suffering and pain that Jewish people went through. It also examines how the holocaust took place and what was brutally done to millions of innocent lives during this horrific time in our history. The implications of anti semitism on Canada leading up to WWII and the Holocaust was that Jews needed Canada s help and Canada said no. They followed the stereotypes of what Jews were perceived as and took in only 5000 Jewish refugees. Based on stereotypes, they took in the group of people that were the most beneficial to them and Jews were at the bottom of that list with Chinese and japanese people. There was anti semitism in Germany because of Hitler. While many do not understand the reason for his hatred against Jews he was the reason that caused anti semitism which was unnecessary. If Hitler had not created numerous laws discriminating against Jews, the Holocaust wouldn t have happened. He believed that Jews needed to be removed and were a problem. The world reacted to Hitler by believing what he said. Hitler was powerful and he was able to brainwash people. The world slowly listened to what was being told and agreed. If they weren t the group of people that Hitler targeted they didn t have to worry about anything and it was easier to just follow the crowd. Specifically, the paper was looking at how and if violence affected divisions between in groups and out groups. The conductor(s) used the postwar community in Kosovo for the research and experiments. The researcher(s) found that violence does have an affect on in groups/out group divisions. The researcher(s) found that violence is shown to increase the division between in groups and out groups when the distinctions are already evident. Additionally, researcher(s) found that local communities that experience more violence were more uncertain of people outside their local communities. I think that this manuscript should be rejected because although the researcher(s) is missing a major true experiment component, there is not a good argument for causation over correlation, and the paper does not address the reliability and validity. The experiment used in this manuscript is very well put together and thoroughly explained. The researcher(s) gives a very detailed account of the experiment, as they should incase other researchers want to recreate the experiment. It is important that other researchers are able to recreate the experiment because it shows reliability. However I would recommend this paper for rejection because the experiment is lacking a control group. The paper explores the idea that gender is culturally and socially constructed, a thought that there is clear evidence of in the novel. Much has been said about Alice Walker s epistolary novel, The Color Purple, and its feminist dimension; nevertheless, this characteristic represents only the tip of the iceberg, the eye striking feature, as this book is also a representative example of postcolonial literature. By illustrating Afro American life both of the colonized and of the colonizers, the narrative becomes the literature of otherness and resistance, built up around a triple oppression (cultural, racial and sexual) and around the inner evolution of culture.. Furthermore, his declarations about the importance of beating an obedient wife who does not see her husband as an authority can be seen as a way of using threatening or frightening practises with the purpose to maintain the patriarchal system. In one of her letters to her sister Nettie, Celie describes the difficulties with the male sovereignty with these words: Well, you know wherever there s a man, there s trouble (Walker 186). • 21. The Quality Of Life In Urban And Rural Life Urban areas are the human settlement with high population and well established infrastructure. People who live in urban areas are mostly involved in commerce and trading activities. However, urban areas are not confined to cities only, but also includes the suburbs areas. On the other side, rural areas are region situated on the outskirts. There are open space and natural vegetation. Residents practice agriculture and animal husbandry and use it as a source of income. Many people and families raise questions on the benefits that one acquires by choosing to live in either urban or rural settlement (Lucas 31). Quality of life is essential when comparing both urban and rural life. Even though both locations are best to live, it is crucial to evaluate the similarity and differences between two places. Various factors such as the diversity, employment opportunities, health, and capacity to make broad choices influence one decision while comparing urban and rural life. Even though life in both urban and rural areas offers great benefits, there are some drawbacks in both lives. Both positive and negative factors determine the quality of life in urban centers. Essay about AMERICANS VIEWS A stereotype is the creation of an unfair opinion or view; an individual will take the behavior of one person and state that all people belonging to that particular group behave in the same manner. Stereotyping encourages people to react and behave in a manner that is both judgmental and prejudiced. The perception of Arabs and the Islamic religion has created a system in which prejudices and stereotypes worked their way so thoroughly into literature, education, history, language, and social mores that they seem to govern the conflict as much as they are created by it, while newspapers and television news play a major role in the way we perceive Arabs and the Islamic religion. The education programs imprint young children with numerous negative images of Arabs. Another form of literature, novels, also perpetuates stereotypes by romanticizing Arabs as dressing in flowing robes, striving against desert hardships, and being surrounded by submissive females. Others novels have portrayed Arabs as evil and corrupt; some portray them as terrorists and murderers. These distortions of the Arab people, in literature have created a general mistrust and dislike for Arabs among Americans. Another form of broadcasting of stereotypes comes from the news media. Without controlling these pests the New Zealand native bush and native species would be decimated. 1080 is a very effective poison and it is reported by The Department of Conservation (DOC) that 1080 kills approximately 98% of possums and 90% of rats in the targeted drop area. 1080 is dropped on targeted areas via helicopter to ensure that it is not dropped anywhere it shouldn t be. 1080 costs approximately $17 per hectare according to the DOC website. New Zealand imports 80% of the total amount of 1080 produce in the world. Some people believe there are true victims and particular consequences should follow. Others believe these crimes are wrong in terms of their morality. The history of victimless crimes, the type of crimes, and society s view on these crimes can offer evidence as to why these types of crimes are morally wrong and should be decriminalized. This paper demonstrates that victimless crimes are morally wrong rather than harmful. A victimless crime can be described as an act that is illegal, but consensual and lacks a complaining participant (Veneziano Veneziano, 1993). Those that participate in these types of crimes do so willingly and without force. Beginning with the excerpt from Yeats s poem, The Second Coming, the concept of balance is stressed as important, for without balance, order is lost. In the novel, there are many systems of balance which the Ibo culture seems to depend upon. It is when these systems are upset that things fall apart. Okonkwo, the Ibo religion, and ultimately, the Ibos autonomy were brought to their demise by an extreme imbalance between their male and female aspects. Okonkwo is eventually defeated when he finds that his physical strength is not powerful enough to overcome the white men, and, unable to accept this, he hangs himself. The Ibo Religion s Demise The Ibo religion falls in much the same way. This religion is centered about the worship of male gods and ancestors. The female god among these may be the Earth goddess, but Okonkwo offends this goddess twice in the story to save his masculine image: once when he beats his wife during the week of peace; the other when he strikes down his adopted son. The gods functions are mainly to help in war, and to aid the yearly yam crop, which is considered a man s crop. The highest members in the religious organization are the most respected men in the society; during ceremonies, they don costumes and play the role of the deceased ancestors. The primary influence women have in this religion is in the role of the oracle, who is a woman, although she embodies a male god. It is the women, also, who practice witchcraft, which is greatly feared in the tribes, but it should be noted that even this is a passive force with only intangible connections to any physical effects. When the Christian religion is introduced, preaching universal acceptance, many members of the clan who are dissatisfied with the Ibo religion are drawn toward it. Germany could do this by dividing the European Parliament, this is shown by a tie with 273 votes for and against with 22 abstentions, meaning that ultimately the proposal was rejected (Hix, Noury Roland, 2007). This is another key characteristic within the EP, the EP is made up of varying different nationalities who still have a close affiliation with their member state. Accordingly, power within the EP itself is not and can never be wholeheartedly supranational as previously argued due to this member state influence. Correlating with the theory laid out earlier in the essay, and as prescribed by Robert Thomson (2011) a divided and disjointed EP is not as strong as a united EP. Furthermore, it is important to consider that this is an obvious statement as there is typically a small number of abstention; small but enough to stop legislation when an absolute majority is needed. These abstentions in a close vote, as with the Takeover Directive, practically count as votes against. This is due to a fixed number of MEPs needed, 314 in the case currently being discussed to vote in favour of the legislation. Thus a close and divided vote gives a disadvantage to those who want to enforce the proposal. Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature Essay Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature Feminism during the eighteenth century has come to be defined by the literature of the time. Women, who did not have as many outlets as they do today, expressed their political opinions through literature itself. Although feminist texts existed before the end of the century, women writers in the final decade were seen as more threatening to the dominant patriarchal system. During the reactionary decade of the 1790 s, concerns normally thought to be private and domestic women s education, their choice of husbands, female conduct, sexuality, and manners became politicized as general topics of interest (14). The outspoken behavior regarding their position was seen as inappropriate for women. However, not all women addressed these topics with a radical perspective. Some women, who today would be considered a setback to the feminist movement, took a rather conservative approach. Women s literary history, in terms of feminism, can be broken down into three stages of development: the feminine phase, in which women internalize the male culture s assumptions about female nature; the feminist phase, in which women are able to dramatize the ordeals of wronged womanhood; and the female phase, when women turn... to female experience as the source of an autonomous art (14).
