dental professionals. In order to maintain skin integrity, the proper selection of hand

damage of the skin. Discomfort of the skin due to irritation can result in
noncompliance to the recommended hand hygiene practices. Effective hand hygiene
not only protects patients, but also dental professionals.
Hands are the most common reservoir for transmittable microbes and bacteria. The
microorganisms that exist on the hands of a dental care worker include both transient
and resident (normal) flora. These microorganisms are found on the superficial and
innermost layers of the skin. Transient flora is found on the surface layer of the skin
and includes microorganisms that can be readily eliminated or deactivated using
appropriate hand hygiene techniques (Fluent, 2013). It is important that dental health
care workers protect themselves from these microorganisms by wearing gloves when
handling contaminated dental instruments, tissue, body fluids, or surfaces. However,
it is critical to note that gloves are not substitutes for any hand hygiene procedures
and should be replaced throughout a dental procedure if soiled. Hands should be
washed with soap and water after removal of gloves to help remove any microbes

I decided that I wanted to carry out a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research.

The client, Julie*, called into the Crisis Center Hotline looking for immediate
shelter for herself and her two young children. At that time, our shelter was not full
and therefore had space for the mother and her children. I went through the
procedural routine of making sure that she was not in the center s blue books, a
record of clients not allowed to receive shelter and/or services, and seeing if she had
an alpha card already completed, this would mean that she was a previous client at
the shelterand already had a file. Julie* did was not found in either source. At that
point, I began to complete the shelter intake paperwork with her over the phone.
The first two pages of the intake are completed first with the client. These pages
find out more about the client s demographics, her current physical and mental
health state, how many children she has and if she could be pregnant at the time,
her abuser s demographics, and the presenting primary abuse occurring. I
completed these two pages with Julie* and then from that point an approval staff
member will tell you if you can complete the rest of the intake or tell the client that

or informal MSE should be conducted by the counselor to make sure she is not in
any immediate danger to herself or others. The counselor will look at Jenna s thinking
process, behavior and feelings. This will allow the counselor to understand how Jenna
is functioning cognitively and emotionally (Summers, 2015). During the assessment
process, it is important to obtain informed consent to provide services to Jenna.
