The Burning Of Biomass And The Resulting Emissions
national borders. The burning of biomass and the resulting emissions are contributing to global
climate change. In particular, the incomplete and inefficient combustion by traditional cook stoves
releases greenhouse gases including carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide, and methane into the
atmosphere (Kees and Lisa, 2011). Meanwhile, other organic compounds and particulate matter
from biomass combustion contribute to local and regional air pollution.
Developing nations have sought to escape environmental ruin through the expanded use of energy
efficient and renewable technologies. Ethiopia s renewable energy potential is considerable, with
abundant biomass efficiency, biogas, solar, hydropower, wind, and geothermal possibilities

Furthermore, in the world that has become increasingly concerned about climate change caused by
the increase of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from burning fossil fuels, a particular emphasis has
been placed on renewable sources.

During the global move towards cleaner and greener electricity and to reduce the cost of
electricity, developers are looking more favorably at renewable energy projects, especially wind
energy. Modern electricity generating grid connected wind turbines constitute a promising
technology, to supplement hydropower, especially because the correlation of wind resource and
hydrology availability is very good (EREDPC, 2007).
2.2. Wind energy resource potential in Ethiopia
The total wind resource of Ethiopia is estimated to be 20.064 TJ/year; however, a significant
amount of it had not been used yet throughout the country (Ramayya et al., 2007). As the study of
Woldeghiorgis Weldesenbet (1988) there are few promising windy areas in Ethiopian located
alongside the main East African Rift Valley, the Northern Eastern escarpment of the country near
Tigray regional state, the Southern part of Ethiopia near the Kenyan boarder, the central and eastern
part of Ethiopian specially south east of the Somalia region. Areas

Psychedelia
Psychedelia is defined as music that is based on the experience that is produced by psychedelic
drugs. It started in the 1960 s in the United States. The main drug was LSD and it was said to
enhance the music. One of the major promotors of the drug was Timothy Leary. He was a
professor at Harvard. He was so famous for this that there was even a song about him. This time
in music was one of the most changing for the future of music in history. There were many
different things that changed in many of the way songs were created. One of the most noticeable
songs like this is a Beach Boys song. Good Vibrations was created by the genius mind of Brain
Wilson. The song was supposed to be on the album Pet Sounds. Wilson wanted the song to be
perfect so it did not make it on the album. So perfect in fact that they recorded the song for seven
months and at the time it cost almost $400,000. It was the record at the time for most money spent
on a single. The song was made with very different sounds that had never been used in music
before. The other thing that is so different from any other song is that there are three parts of the

One of the most famous of these was the Monterey International Pop Music Festival in 1967. It was
held in California. Both the Beatles and the Beach Boys were supposed to appear but both of them
cancelled. Jimi Hendrix was one of the artists that were there. This helped him become an
American star because after he performed he sprayed his guitar in lighter fluid and caught it on
fire. It was all caught on film and is a documentary. Another one of these is the famous
Woodstock in 1969. It was held in New York on a dairy farm. It rained for three days straight
leading up and during the festival. There were over 400,000 people there. There were even two
fatalities that they overdosed on heroin. It was also recorded and turned into a

Imperial Expansion Essay
Imperial expansion is an inevitable part of the historical development of the world. Without these
expansions, the world would not have been what it is to day. However, besides the obvious
contributions, these expansions also carried negative effects. Thus while celebration of some
cases of imperial expansions deserve to be acknowledged, others might not and to decide one
needs to look closely and see if the good outweighs the bad.
Songhai was largest empire in West Africain the 15th century and had been a powerful empire
ever since the proclaiming of independence from Mali in 1340. Sonni Ali the ruler of the Songhai

Conquistadors HernГЎn CortГ©s conquered Aztec kingdom in 1521 and Francisco Pizarro
conquered the Inca Empire in 1532. These conquests have opened the world to greater knowledge,
and become important basis of geographical studies. Moreover, the exploitation of the gold and
other resources from these conquered territories were sent home to Spain and eventually it became
one of the most powerful empires in the world. However, there is a dark side hidden under all
these pompous achievements. The Spanish in a matter of months annihilated both the Civilizations
of the Inca and the Aztec that took hundreds and thousands of yeas to establish. This left the
descendants of the Inca and the Aztec without remnants of the proper history of their ancestors.
Moreover, one of the most important reasons why the Spanish won these battle of Conquest was
because these natives had been debilitated by diseases which were brought in by the Spanish.
Diseases like small pox caused the population to quickly deplete. Moreover, the Spanish deemed
themselves as superiority and coerced the people of Mexico to convert to Christianity. After having
been blatantly looted and tyrannized by the Spanish, the people of Mexico were deprived of the
only thing they have left: their beliefs. Spanish Priests destroyed Aztec books, written documents
demolished temples in an attempt to impose

Statistics In Sociology
In this experiment, data was collected from 44 participants, which came from an undergraduate
statistics lab class at Florida Atlantic University, members of the Palm Beach Hindu Mandir,
and friends and relatives of the authors of this study. The sample was 30% male (N = 13) and
70% female (N = 31). Participants ranged in age from 15 to 61 with the average being 28 years
(M= 28.09, SD= 14.178). The participants all voluntarily filled out an online survey originally
sent out to the class. The authors both participated and gave their own survey responses. In order

Anything over five was not considered for this study. This is because for the purposes of this
study, anything over five times a year is considered a significant amount of times to be ill. In
this experiment, the main goal is to find a possible correlation between whether a person makes
their bed daily or not and around how many times they are sick in a year. We hypothesize that
making one s bed daily promotes good health habits, therefore preventing one from being ill
frequently. Due to this, we predict that participants that reportedly make their beds daily will
also report fewer instances of being sick per year, with most responses estimated to land around
1 3 times per year. The main independent variable being studied is whether participants make
their bed daily, and the dependent variable would be how often they are sick in a year. There are
some other independent variables that could impact the relationship, such as gender and age,
because they too have an influence on the health of a person. Due to this, we asked participants to
report that information as well, so we can take it into account when running data tests and drawing
conclusions. Results Our independent variable for this study is whether participants make up their
beds every morning. The dependent variable for this study is how many times a year participants
get sick. Other independent variables recorded were gender and age. We ran a bivariate correlation

animal activism Essay example
Animals are dying on a daily basis or living out their lives being abused or neglected. Statistics
show that more than five thousand animals are mistreated and neglected each year in Michigan#.
This number is increasing rapidly due to lack of knowledge of animal care, also the number
increases due to the lack of penalty for animal cruelty. I see a need to educate because of violence
toward animals. I plan to educate children to successfully care for their four legged friends.
The issue of animal cruelty affects the world by crime related activities. For example dog or pit

Writing a school newsletter for the Source is a good way to inform people who have pets to care
for them. I would provide information on tips from my own personal experiences from
volunteering at the humane society and my pets. I would also provide resources on questions
that are hard questions I couldn t answer. I would ask the Humane Society to also put their
newsletter in the Source as well. This gives an opportunity to educate students on professional
health care tips for pets. It also shows how hard it is to care for a pet if one has never had a pet.
Therefore, pets are not neglected. For example pets should not be left outside in extreme
weather. Put the animal in a warm garage or somewhere else warm. Or did you know that it is state
law to have an adequate shelter for your dog? Many people do not know these laws or choose to
ignore them. I think giving animal care tips on the live news show is also a good way to inform
people weekly.
Since the newspaper is monthly, it s good to have a weekly tip as well. As stated above in the
previous paragraph, the tips are helpful for you and your pet. I could have people send questions
and answer them on the air. I could give live demonstrations on pets from the humane society and
have people come in and try it themselves.
I could put a link on the

Homestead Act
I THESIS STATEMENT The Homestead Act of 1862 made surveyed lands obtainable to
homesteaders. The act stated that men and women over the age of 21, unmarried women who
were head of households and married men under the age of 21, who did not own over 160 acres
of land anywhere, were citizens or intended on becoming citizens of the United States, were eligible
to homestead. This paper will show how the Homestead Actcame to be enacted, who the
homesteaders were and the effects of the Homestead Act on the pioneers.
II WHAT EVENTS LEAD TO THE HOMESTEAD ACT?
The distribution of Government lands had been an issue since the Revolutionary War. Early

With the secession of the Southern states from the Union and the removal of the slavery issue,
finally in 1862, the Homestead Act was passed and signed by President Abraham Lincoln. The
new law established a three fold homestead acquisition process: filing an application, improving
the land, and filing for deed of title. Any U.S. citizen, or intended citizen, who had never borne
arms against the U.S. Government could file an application and lay claim to 160 acres of
surveyed Government land. For the next 5 years, the homesteader had to live on the land and
improve it by building a 12 by 14 dwelling and growing crops. After 5 years, the homesteader
could file for his patent (or deed of title) by submitting proof of residency and the required
improvements to a local land office. Local land offices forwarded the paperwork to the General
Land Office in Washington, DC, along with a final certificate of eligibility. The case file was
examined, and valid claims were granted patent to the land free and clear, except for a small
registration fee. Title could also be acquired after a 6 month residency and trivial improvements,
provided the claimant paid the government $1.25 per acre. After the Civil War, Union soldiers
could deduct the time they served from the residency requirements. Before the Act was repealed in
1934, over 1.6 million homestead applications were processed and more than 270

hidden potential in their bodies, who shall stand upon Earth like a footstool, and while they are in

Besides, Interjet became the first American Airline into supporting the electric taxiing system by
Honeywell, and Safran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mexican airline Interjet,
so they can support the advancement of the EGTS taxiing system. Since, this supports using
technology on the airplanes for the use of the taxiway and runway, which brings both fuel savings
and emissions reductions to the airlines. Evidently, this can save up to four blocks of fuel on the
plane by using motors on the landing gear that enables the landing gear to push back from the gate
and taxi by using the plane s own electrical power rather than using its main engine.

When recalling completing the census for 2010; there were many questions on health and
smoking. It left a question as to how this data would be used. In more recent times there has
appeared to be an increase in surveys from medical, corporations, and sales. All of the data
gathered is used to assess how they are doing and are needs being met, the same is true for health
assessments.
Disadvantages and Benefits One of the big disadvantages is the potential for misuse of the
information. An example of misuse is the Breach of HIPAA policies. While working in the
military health environment in Spain, there were many times that someone I knew socially was a
patient in the clinic. One such encounter netted a good friend s whose husband was treated for an
STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) and was prompted to notify all his sexual partners. His wife
did not come in for a visit; which caused a moral dilemma, questioning what to do; I spoke with the
treating physician and voiced my concerns. The physician took charge and the appropriate action
was completed, thereby avoiding a HIPAA violation. In the wrong hands medical information can
be abused. The stringent punishment for HIPPA violations has curtailed the misuse of information
and limited the public outcries for help. According to the AMA a person can be charged with both

Wierd Noises from Your Body Called Phonology
My research paper is about how your body can make different noises. A person can make weird
noises all day long, but when you add meaning to the sounds they create phonemes. The study of
phonemes is called phonology. Sounds start from the air that we inhale every day. Although we
have all those things that cause it we ,ourselves have to form the sounds that we make with our
mouths.
All of those things start from your vocal cords. With your vocal cords you can create words and
many other different sounds. You can create other types of noises with the rest of your body to. The
air pressure comes from your lungs, diaphragm, ribcage, and abdominal muscles. Without enough
air pressure, the rest of the production system for the voice, it shuts down.
Singers and other famous voice users focus on a significant amount of training on control of your
breath support. The portion of vibratory voice production occurs in the voice box or larynx. The
larynx is an organ that is made of paired muscles and cartilages. The thyroid cartilage houses and
holds the vocal cords. It is a large cartilage with the most and superior aspect.
This is more prominent in the male larynx and is often called the Adams Apple. The thyroid
cartilage sits above the cricoid cartilage, which is a signet ring shaped cartilage. Below th cricoids
cartilage is the trachea or windpipe. The subglottis extends from just below the vocal cords to
about 1 cm into the trachea. The hyoid bone is superior to the

Bine Drinking Boy Advert Analysis
1) Alcohol is indirectly portrayed as being detrimental and destructive in both adverts.
In the Binge Drinking boy advert, the boy rips his clothing, pours food on himself, shaves his
eyebrows, rips his earring out of his ear, and knocks his head on the mirror. The excessive alcohol
which the boy consumed causes him to damage his body and clothing and to become aggressive.
This therefore depicts alcohol as being a substance which causes self destructive behaviour and
harm to those who drink it in excess.
In the Binge Drinking girl advert the girl rips her clothing, vomits all over herself, messes her
makeup and pours alcohol on the floor. These acts cause the girl to look slutty, easy, trashy and
worthless. The image of this out of control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Significant Role of the Hippocampus Essay
Significant Role of Hippocampus
Hippocampus is a small, curved region, which exists in both hemispheres of the brain and plays a
vital role in emotions, learning and acquisition of new information. It also contributes majorly to
long term memory, which is permanent information stored in the brain. Although long term
memory is the last information that can be forgotten, its impairment has become very common
nowadays. The dysfunction is exemplified by many neurological disorders such as amnesia. There
are two types of amnesia, anterograde and retrograde. Anterograde amnesia is inability in forming
new information, while retrograde refers to the loss of the past memory. As suggested by Cipolotti

This implies that bilateral and unilateral hippocampus does not contribute majorly to familiarity and

Since hippocampus plays an important function in the brain, it has become a great topic for many
conducted research not only on human but also animals, specifically primates and rodents. In
primate model of amnesia, the experiment is performed through three main tasks delayed nonmatch
to sample, object discrimination paradigm and motor skill learning across multiple trials
(Eichenbaum et al, 1992). In delayed non matching test, both amnesic and intact monkey show
nearly same performance rate in remembering objects across delayed in short period of time
(Eichenbaum et al, 1992). In contrast, amnesic monkeys show a great impairment for longer
delayed conditions, hours, in picking the right non matched samples (Eichenbaum et al, 1992).
Likewise, in object discrimination task, amnesic monkeys are unable to recognize objects, as
compared to control monkeys (Eichenbaum et al, 1992).These tests suggest the importance of
hippocampus in acquisition of new information and recollection old events from episodic memory.
Additionally, hippocampus also contributes largely to relational representation, as a characteristic
of declarative memory (Eichenbaum et al, 1992). This can be shown through odor discrimination

Mahatma Gandhi once said that An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind. This
idea is supported by the short story The Interlopers by Saki and the poem Mending Wall by Robert
Frost, which are both stories about two people continuing an outdated feud or tradition that is not
needed anymore. In these works, the authors use conflict, metaphors, and characterization to convey
that old traditions are often pointless to carry on, especially if the tradition creates a feudbetween
two people or families, because the feud is most likely also outdated and therefore not needed
anymore. In The Interlopers , the author uses man vs. man conflict to convey this theme. In the
beginning of the story, there was a feud between the Znaeym and the Von Gradwitz families that
resulted in Ulrich Von Gradwitz thinking that If there was one man in the world whom he
detested and wished ill to, it was Georg Znaeym (Saki 83) . At the end of the story, Ulrich Von
Gradwitz realized how foolish they had been to continue this feud and said I ve come to think
we ve been rather fools; there are better things in life than getting the better of a boundary
dispute. Neighbor, if you will help me to bury the old quarrel, I I will ask you to be my friend
(Saki 86) . The solution to Ulrich Von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym s conflict reveals how the
feud between their families was not needed anymore because their whole lives had been ruled
by an outdated, pointless conflict that took over their lives to the point where they wanted to
kill one another, and they would be better off resolving this conflict and being friends than
continuing an outdated rivalry. In Mending Wall , the author uses a metaphor that represents a
similar conflict to convey the theme of the poem. In the poem, two neighbors come together
every spring to repair a wall when the speaker lets his neighbor know beyond the hill;/ And on a
day we meet to walk the line/ And set the wall between us once again (Frost 12) . The speaker
does not think they need the wall though, because Before I built a wall I d ask to know/ What I
was walling in or walling out (Frost 32) . In the metaphor, the wall represents a feud or rivalry that
is separating the neighbors. This

Jumpstart Our Business Act Case Study
Introduction Before 2008, the financial services industry experienced record growth and
companies leveraged their portfolio to take more risk. One of the largest failures in financial
services was the 2008 collapse and bankruptcy of 158 year old Lehman Brothers. Bear Stearns,
Merrill Lynch, and Lehman Brothers had poor credit risks and loose liquidity requirements as did
most companies during this period. The difficulties in the housing market led to an aggressive
number of mortgage defaults and created a catastrophic scenario. The financial services model
needs repair, and the enactment of the Jumpstart Our Business Act (JOBS Act) signals a new era of
alternative financing. Group Capital is a registered broker dealer which can be better understood by

Personal Narrative-The Language Of The Teufel
Mamusia! Can you come help me with this? I yell boldly for my mom. What is that you just

Theatrical Syndicate History
History of Theatrical Syndicate The origin of the theatrical syndicate had come to be in early
1896, when six men had gathered together for a lunch and had all came out with an idea to how
they would be able to control the booking of the top theatrical attractions of the U.S. The six men
had called this act in which they where trying to make come to life as the Theatrical Syndicate.
Within just a couple of weeks of this lunch meeting that the 6 men had they ended up using all of
their theatres in which they had either represented or owned, and put each one of their theatres into
a national chain. In the early twentieth centuries in order for the syndicate to take control of the of

theatrical syndicate had actually saved theatre by maintain and standardizing the bookings. Also
Daniel Frohman, which is a brother of one of the men which are in the Theatrical syndicate by the
name of Charles Frohman, was very influenced also by the theatrical Syndicate s movement. What
Daniel Frohman had to say about the influencing of the theatrical syndicate was they decided that
its only economic hope was in a centralization of booking interests, and they acted immediately on
this decision. In other words the only way for our economy going back to being stable financial
whys would be the Theatrical Syndicate and them being able to maintain and also standardized the
booking interest. Since the economy had taken a financial toll on actors producers, and theatre
managers at the time the Theatre Syndicate is what pretty much brought everyone out of that

IS, LM model and explanations(in the form of an essay).
Essay topic1.
Introduction:
During the years after World War II, the development of the IS LM model took several
directions. Probably, the most prominent ideas on that theory were expressed in the work of John
Hicks called Mr. Keynes and the Classics . The model expressed in the article was largely based on
the works of John Maynard Keynes and became a widely accepted as the alternative framework to
standard Keynesian analysis. The IS LM model is a way of modelling equilibrium in the economy
by looking at equilibrium in the goods and services markets (the IS curve) and equilibrium in the
money markets (LM curve). Where both these markets are in equilibrium will be the equilibrium
level of income. The IS LM model looks at income against ... Show more content on

Therefore, the amount of income from Y`1 to Y1 will be anattainable because of outcrowding of
the private sector by the public sector investment (shaded area).
The degree of crowding out depends on severeal factors. One of them is the extent of multiplier
effect. Multiplier effect occurs when increase in investment or any other autonomous expenditure
leads to even greater increase in income. For example, it may become widely believed that the
MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) is going to reduce the rate of interest. In that case, number of
leackages in the economy in the form of savings is likely to decline and consumption to increase.
This will result in the larger propensity to consume for every marginal unit of income. Increase in
consumption should lead to increase in investment and more flatter IS curve (see figure 3), which
will mean greater degree of crowding out.

There are other factors influencing the extent of crowding out effect. Effectivness of fiscal policy
also depends on the elasticities of IS and LM schedules. If investment is relatively sensetive to the
changes in the rate of interest, than for any change in interest rate there will relatively big change
in investment and correspondingly equilibrium rate of output. In that case the IS curve will be
relatively interest elastic and flatter. If the IS curve is

John Green Paper Town Symbolism
Everything has a fake side to it. It does not matter if it is a person or an object. In John Green s
Paper Towns, the words paper town symbolizes many things such as a fake town, a pseudovision
and a copyright trap. These are all different thing but they all have one thing in common. The
symbols of papertown all circle around one main theme, and that theme is fakeness.
Paper town symbolizes different meanings, and one of them is a fake town. A paper town is a
fake town because it is not what it looks like. Margo thinks of Orlando as a paper town. When
Quentin and her are at the top of the SunTrust Building and they look at Orlando from above,
Margo says, All these paper people living in their paper houses, (Green, 57). Margo thinks the ...

A pseudovision is a subdivision that is incomplete. In Quentin s conversation with Radar on IM,
Quentin says, Paper town=pseudovision (Green, 152). Since it is a subdivision that is not
complete, one cannot consider it as a real place, but instead, a fake place. A fake place, which has
the same meaning of a fake town, is also another meaning of paper towns. In addition, the word
pseudo has the meaning of fake, which also connects to a fake town. Margo uses a pseudovision
as her hiding spot when she ran away from Orlando, which she calls a paper town. Margo herself a
paper girl and the place she lives a fake town. She uses the pseudovision as a fake town for her to
live in. Margo s ideas are like pseudovisions, a place that is not complete is like an idea that never
happens. Margo has many thoughts on how she wants the world to be like, but those ideas
never and because of that, Margo sees the world as a negative, fake place. I have a friend who is
similar to Margo. She has a lot of ideas on how to change the world. They both want the world to

as the story progresses the audience sees that spending time with the Na vi has caused Jake to
become a better person. This is because they have influenced his thoughts and opinions, teaching

Nephrolithiasis And Kidney Stones
KIDNEY STONES
What are Kidney Stones?
Kidney Stones are also called Renal Calculi. Nephrolithiasis is the condition of having Kidney
Stones . These stones come about from chemicals in the urine, forming a tough crystalline mineral
deposit from within the kidney, that stick together inside the kidney or urinary tract. Typically, they
develop in the inner surfaces of one or both of the kidneys. Supersaturation urine is what actually
creates the stones, this happens when there is an imbalance in the waste chemicals in the urine,
which then causes the stones. As to under saturation urine crystals cannot be formed due to lack
of calcium produced. They can be as little as a grain of sand that can be invisible to the naked eye,

Leadership Strategies For Leadership Development
CM3100 Week Four Coaching
The environment has changed it is more complex, volatile, and unpredictable. The skills needed
for leadership have also changed more complex and adaptive thinking abilities are needed. The
methods being used to develop leaders have not changed (much). The majority of managers are
developed from on the job experiences, training, and coaching/ mentoring; while these are all still
important, leaders are no longer developing fast enough or in the right ways to match the new
environment (Future Trends, 2014, p. 5).
In Mr. Petrie s review Future Trends in LeadershipDevelopment, he looks at four leadership trends

The horizontal development calls for improving skills, abilities, and behaviors. It is training which
involves listening to experts, and training seminars that are content heavy. The training calls for a
lot of book learning and exams. Horizontal development is identified as an approach that is most
useful in solving problems. Situations arise, and techniques are learned for solving them.
Mr. Petrie in his interviews asked the question, What do you think needs to be stopped or phased
out from the way leadership development is currently done? (Petrie, 2014, p. 10). They answered,
Competencies: they become either overwhelming in number or incredibly generic. If you have
nothing in place, they are okay, but their use nearly always comes to a bad end. (Petrie, 2014, p.
10). The horizontal development is associated with a competency model for the development of a
leader.
The vertical development consists of stages of development that people mature and progress, and
grow as they interact with and make sense of their world. Mr. Petrie uses an analogy of pouring
water into a glass and wrote, In metaphorical terms, horizontal development is like pouring water
into an empty glass. The vessel fills up with new content (you learn more leadership techniques). In
contrast, vertical development aims to expand the glass

Service Quality Of English Islamic Banks
Abdullrahim (2010) in her dissertation titled Service Quality of English Islamic Banks used a
qualitative focus groups research methodology as a primary data collection, which is closely
related to the methodology I will propose to use in my study. Abdullrahim (2010) used a mixed
methodology of qualitative (focus group) and quantitative (questionnaire) to conduct the study. A
modified service quality model (SERVQUAL) was used to measure the quality of servicein Islamic
banks in the United Kingdom (UK). The quality service model can be described as a degree and
direction of the difference between customer perception and customer expectation. The researcher
stated that Islamic banking in the UK, Britain has the most active and developed Islamic banking
sector in the European Union and is leading the way for Islamic banking in the west
(Abdullrahim, 2010, p. 1). The researcher focused on Muslims in the UK and what are their
perceptions and evaluation of service of the quality of Islamic banks in the UK. The researcher
studied Islamic banks in England because there are millions of Muslims who lived in the UK and
banks started to offer Sharia products (Abdullrahim, 2010; Hanlon, 2004).
Abdullrahim conducted the focus group in two stages. First, Eight focus group discussions were
conducted with 36 Muslims (Abdullrahim, 2010, p. 11). Second, a pilot study, questionnaires were

Effects Of Texas Rebellion
Texas, initially Mexican territory, would lose this identity as diversity began to advance across
the state. Texas became full of diversity prior to the rebellion. Texas at the time was at its most
diverse (Unit 4, The Peoples of Mexican Texas). There were visible cultural differences and
practices. However, the differences were hardly significant enough to propel Texasinto a rebellion.
The moment the Anglos set foot in to Texas, the cultural differences were noticeable to both sides,
but it was not enough to deter either side from attempting to coexist (Unit 4, The Peoples of
Mexican Texas). The Texas rebellion began to formulate at a time where the Anglo population

Political conflict, was a key component in multiple uprisings during the time. Economic
motivations, grew to a point where it never reached prior to the Jacksonian era. Social changes,
divided a significant amount of people within Texas itself. Cultural differences were notable and
existed, but they took on a smaller role compared to politics, economics, and social changes. While
cultural differences were present, they were not nearly enough to spark an entire rebellion. The
cultural differences made it difficult to easily assimilate, but hardly impossible. The inability to
quickly adjust to preceding expected cultural norms was a very unlikely reason for the rebellion.
Weber, initially presents a very valid argument of the cultural differences between Anglo Texans and
Mexican Texans. However, he makes it clear in his essay that despite the cultural differences, the
main fight was between the Mexican Texan and the centralist Mexican government (MPTH, 139).
There is more than enough evidence to support that the Texas rebellion would occur inevitably, as
the discontent with the Mexican leadership rose. Consequently, it appeared that both cultures were
able to coexist exceptionally. It is also leaves a curious question on whether culture assimilation,
rather than cultural differences lead to the Texas

The Art of Argumentation
The art of argumentation has become very complex and multi dimensional in a sense of the
many didn t ways you can approach it. Argumentation is communicative reason in situations
where people sole purpose is to prove something through justified acts, beliefs, attitudes, and
values. Argumentation is said to mainly rely on good reason and, that is the audience base to
agree or degree with the agreement. In any situation every audience is different so therefore
good reason can be impacted by culture, which let leaves the decision making to argumentation.
Argumentation has become a part of ones everyday life, no matter the culture or the location. An
argument can be made in a small or big way; it simple just depends on the situation. If 20 year
old Tommy calls his mom and tells her that everyone in the world is going to be at the Adam
Levine concert and if he misses the concert it will be the end of his social life. Tommy made an
argument to his mother whether he was trying to or not. Debate is a big part of argumentation
because it all about persuading and convincing the audience to understand or agree with
whoever may be speaking. The process of inquiry and advocacy is debate. Debate requires two
completive sides in an engaging head to head clash of support for or against a specific proposition.
In this paper four to five different fallacies will be discussed, defined and shown how they co exist

Heroes As A Hero, And The Tragic Hero In Literature
Heroes still exist
Throughout history, stories have been passed down from generation to generation of heroes that
display incredible inspiring characteristics. From Greek mythology of Hercules, to bedtime stories
of princes slaying dragons, the concept of heroes has captivated society. Heroes are shown to go on
a journey and to be altruistic, courageous, tenacious and have integrity. Although the category of
heroes is wide, three main ones exist that are portrayed in literature; archetypal heroes, anti heroes
and tragic heroes. Archetypal heroes are the typical heroes represented in texts; they go through a
typical hero journey and are able to show bravery in the face of hardship. An anti hero is a main
character in a text that has noticeable flaws yet possesses heroic qualities. Lastly, a tragic hero
typically starts off as an archetypal hero yet has one major flaw that leads to the demise. Heroes
within literature still exist and have laid the bench mark for humanity. Humanity is positioned to be
inspired by heroes as we are always striving to achieve better and by having archetypal heroes,
human have something to aim for.
Archetypal heroes are the stock standard hero that face adversity with daring and courageous
heroism. They stand up for what it right by protecting and defending innocents from the injustice
and corruption in the world. Archetypal heroes are portrayed as honourable people who are the best

Capitalism And The Economic Growth Under Capitalism
Throughout history and present day, it is seen that capitalism does work efficiently and surprisingly
well, even though it is often wrongly accused and criticized for others shortcomings. Capitalism,
otherwise known as a free market economy, is an economic and political system in which a country
s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Werner
Sombart first used the term capitalismin the early twentieth century, but the concept of it existed

Modern period, while merchant capitalism began all the way back in Western Europe during the
Middle Ages. Although self interest fuels capitalism,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, capitalism allows freedom in the market. For example, Capitalism also creates
more wealth for those on the lowest rung of the income ladder than any other system (Ringer,
Robert). This proves that even those who are the poorest of poor can find a way to create wealth
for themselves to raise themselves up the economic ladder. In free markets, there is always a
way for a person to generate income, even if they have no money themselves. To help those in
the lower part of the spectrum, Capitalism enables everyone to act in a consistently self
interested manner (Biddle, Craig). When given the privilege of putting oneself in front of
others, one can control their money however they please. It is crucial to be able to monitor one s
private wealth if one wants to further succeed in the economy. Under capitalism, it is not always
a cakewalk for corporations or the wealthy like people are led to believe, individuals and
corporations legally own not only their profits but also their problems (Biddle, Craig). When one
can control their wealth, it comes with complications as well. Those complications do not only
apply to the poor, nor the rich. Problems do not discriminate; no one is excluded from experiencing
such things.
Finally, capitalism is beneficial because all people have the drive to avoid failure. Robert Gelinas
brings this to light when

South Dakota Landscape
Carrie Breitbach s (2009) The Geographies of a More Just Food System: Building Landscapes for
Social Reproduction revolves around the idea of bringing justice to the food system by
rectifying landscape and social reproduction as a solution in South Dakota. In contrast, Peirce F.
Lewis s Axioms for Reading the Landscape, focuses on how to read and understand landscapes
through a set of rules which he calls axioms. In the Geographic (or Ecological) Axiom, Lewis
argues that studying a landscape outside its location makes no sense in gaining cultural insight on
the landscape (1979, 24). While Don Mitchell (2007, 43) in New Axioms for the Landscape,
presents the idea that the shape of the land provides direction to its social life. He... Show more

It also details conservative techniques which can be used to preserve the wetlands in Eastern South
Dakota. The USDA in 2007 reported that during 2006 2007, South Dakota sought a 16 percent
increase in acres of corn planted for the production of ethanol (quoted in Bouchard 2007, 59).
Consequently, an increase in corn production could predict a scenario where wetlands begin to be
used for agricultural purposes. The purpose of the wetlands has changed which will have a positive
and negative effect on the economy and the environment. Environmentally, ecosystems are
destroyed, while there is economic growth. The environmental and economic decisions on the
wetlands change its purpose demonstrating that the landscape is simply powerful because it can be

Emma And Emma In Jane Knightley By Jane Austen

However, Emma only agrees to marry with Mr. Knightley, as he shows signs that she can still be
in Hartfield with him, which is one of the reasons why Emma doesn t want to marry. There are also
many other reasons why she doesn t want to marry. Emmas destiny ensures her of independence and
security. Why does Emma want to stay in Hartfield after marrying Mr. Knightley? Emma s opinion
on marriage?
Towards the beginning of the novel, Emma is opposed to the idea of marrying, when she is talking
with Harriet, and when Harriet asks about marriage, Emma says, Fortune I do not want;
employment I do not want; consequence I do not want: I believe few married women are half as
much mistress of their husband s house as I am of Hartfield; and never, never could I expect to
be so truly beloved and important; so always first and always right in any man s eyes as I am in
my father s. (Austen 73). Mr. Knightley and Emma, who are lifelong friends and are well suited
to one another. They both are born into well respected families of wealth, in the beginning, neither

Anatomy And Physiology Of The Thyroid Gland
Hypothyroidism is one of the top diseases that goes unnoticed. Not many people know the affects
the thyroid gland can have on the body, and how the thyroid gland has a part in regulating the many
different systems. This paper will explain the anatomy and physiology of the thyroid gland, the
description, sign and symptoms, causes and risk factors, the diagnosis of the disease, and the
possible treatment plans for the disease. The thyroidgland, which is the largest endocrine gland in
adults, is a butterfly shaped gland with two lobes that lie adjacent to the trachea just below the
larynx. The thyroid function runs on hormone regulation, keeping the positive and negative
feedback loop running correctly. The hypothalamus, responsible for most of the hormones in the
body, secretes the thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH), which induces the anterior pituitary to
secrete prolactin (PRL) and the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) that stimulates the thyroid to
release thyroid hormone(TH). TSH stimulates the growth of the thyroid gland, and TH exerts
metabolic effects. If the TH secretion drops in a healthy thyroid, TSH secretion rises and will
stimulate the thyroid to push out more hormones. If the TSH is too high, the hormone somatostatin
will inhibit the secretion of TSH and the growth hormone (GH). Hypothyroidismis the disease that
causes the thyroid to be underactive and cannot make enough TH for the body to function normally.
The body s metabolic effects rely on the

Examples Of Ecofeminism And Environmental Ethics
Ecofeminism as an environmental issue.
Environmental ethics are based on moral relations that hold between human and the natural world
(Paul, 1986). In environmental ethics people are extending the ethics to the environment by the
exercise of self restraint (Roderick, 1989). The ethical principles that governs the relations of
humans and nature determine human duties, obligations and responsibilities with regard to the
Earth s natural environment and all the animals and plants that inhabit the nature (Paul, 1986).
Environmental ethics has evolved to the point where many scientists believe they have a major
responsibility to help society deal with the human predicament (Paul 2002). Most of the
environmental ethics are through anthropocentrism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ecofeminism is also referred to as a theory which makes the links between the oppression of women
and the oppression of nature in patriarchal culture; an ethical position informed by ecofeminist
thought and activism is one which resists these oppressions (Constance et al, 1996). Early
ecofeminist analyses of the causes and solutions for environmental ethics were based on the idea of
a feminine principle of care that was thought as a foundation for a sustainable livelihood (David,
2003). The approach of feminine principle later became the object of internal critique, the critique
included the development of feminist principles that criticized the meanings of feminine,
masculine, nature and culture (David, 2003). According to this latter, critical approach,
ecofeminism could no longer be defined as a community of women rather the community of people
who participate in critical ecofeminist analyses of the global environmental situation (David, 2003).
Many different interpretations of ecofeminism exist, each rooted in a particular intersection of race,
class, geography and conceptual orientation (Constance et al, 1996). This diversity also reflects the
multiple points from which ecofeminists have entered the movement (Constance et al, 1996).These
include both academic and activist involvement in animal liberation, environmentalism,
international development, peace activism, biotechnology, and genetic engineering (Constance et
al, 1996). A strong influence in ecofeminism has been deep ecology, primarily academic movement
which posits anthropocentrism as the root cause of the environmental crisis (Constance et al,
1996). The pervasive belief that nature is solely a resource for

This is because for the purposes of this study, anything over five times a year is considered a significant amount of times to be ill. In this experiment, the main goal is to find a possible correlation between whether a person makes their bed daily or not and around how many times they are sick in a year. We hypothesize that making one s bed daily promotes good health habits, therefore preventing one from being ill frequently. Due to this, we predict that participants that reportedly make their beds daily will also report fewer instances of being sick per year, with most responses estimated to land around 1 3 times per year. The main independent variable being studied is whether participants make their bed daily, and the dependent variable would be how often they are sick in a year. There are some other independent variables that could impact the relationship, such as gender and age, because they too have an influence on the health of a person. Due to this, we asked participants to report that information as well, so we can take it into account when running data tests and drawing conclusions. With the secession of the Southern states from the Union and the removal of the slavery issue, finally in 1862, the Homestead Act was passed and signed by President Abraham Lincoln. The new law established a three fold homestead acquisition process: filing an application, improving the land, and filing for deed of title. Any U.S. citizen, or intended citizen, who had never borne arms against the U.S. Government could file an application and lay claim to 160 acres of surveyed Government land. For the next 5 years, the homesteader had to live on the land and improve it by building a 12 by 14 dwelling and growing crops. After 5 years, the homesteader could file for his patent (or deed of title) by submitting proof of residency and the required improvements to a local land office. Local land offices forwarded the paperwork to the General Land Office in Washington, DC, along with a final certificate of eligibility. The case file was examined, and valid claims were granted patent to the land free and clear, except for a small registration fee. Title could also be acquired after a 6 month residency and trivial improvements, provided the claimant paid the government $1.25 per acre. This idea is supported by the short story The Interlopers by Saki and the poem Mending Wall by Robert Frost, which are both stories about two people continuing an outdated feud or tradition that is not needed anymore. In these works, the authors use conflict, metaphors, and characterization to convey that old traditions are often pointless to carry on, especially if the tradition creates a feudbetween two people or families, because the feud is most likely also outdated and therefore not needed anymore. In The Interlopers , the author uses man vs. man conflict to convey this theme. In the beginning of the story, there was a feud between the Znaeym and the Von Gradwitz families that resulted in Ulrich Von Gradwitz thinking that If there was one man in the world whom he detested and wished ill to, it was Georg Znaeym (Saki 83) . At the end of the story, Ulrich Von Gradwitz realized how foolish they had been to continue this feud and said I ve come to think we ve been rather fools; there are better things in life than getting the better of a boundary dispute. Neighbor, if you will help me to bury the old quarrel, I I will ask you to be my friend (Saki 86) . The solution to Ulrich Von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym s conflict reveals how the feud between their families was not needed anymore because their whole lives had been ruled by an outdated, pointless conflict that took over their lives to the point where they wanted to kill one another, and they would be better off resolving this conflict and being friends than continuing an outdated rivalry. In Mending Wall , the author uses a metaphor that represents a similar conflict to convey the theme of the poem. In the poem, two neighbors come together every spring to repair a wall when the speaker lets his neighbor know beyond the hill;/ And on a day we meet to walk the line/ And set the wall between us once again (Frost 12) . The speaker does not think they need the wall though, because Before I built a wall I d ask to know/ What I was walling in or walling out (Frost 32) . In the metaphor, the wall represents a feud or rivalry that is separating the neighbors. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Jumpstart Our Business Act Case Study Introduction Before 2008, the financial services industry experienced record growth and companies leveraged their portfolio to take more risk. One of the largest failures in financial services was the 2008 collapse and bankruptcy of 158 year old Lehman Brothers. Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch, and Lehman Brothers had poor credit risks and loose liquidity requirements as did most companies during this period. The difficulties in the housing market led to an aggressive number of mortgage defaults and created a catastrophic scenario. The financial services model needs repair, and the enactment of the Jumpstart Our Business Act (JOBS Act) signals a new era of alternative financing. Probably, the most prominent ideas on that theory were expressed in the work of John Hicks called Mr. Keynes and the Classics . The model expressed in the article was largely based on the works of John Maynard Keynes and became a widely accepted as the alternative framework to standard Keynesian analysis. Therefore, the amount of income from Y`1 to Y1 will be anattainable because of outcrowding of the private sector by the public sector investment (shaded area). The degree of crowding out depends on severeal factors. One of them is the extent of multiplier effect. Multiplier effect occurs when increase in investment or any other autonomous expenditure leads to even greater increase in income. For example, it may become widely believed that the MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) is going to reduce the rate of interest. In that case, number of leackages in the economy in the form of savings is likely to decline and consumption to increase. This will result in the larger propensity to consume for every marginal unit of income. Werner Sombart first used the term capitalismin the early twentieth century, but the concept of it existed much earlier. For example, Capitalism also creates more wealth for those on the lowest rung of the income ladder than any other system (Ringer, Robert). This proves that even those who are the poorest of poor can find a way to create wealth for themselves to raise themselves up the economic ladder. In free markets, there is always a way for a person to generate income, even if they have no money themselves. To help those in the lower part of the spectrum, Capitalism enables everyone to act in a consistently self interested manner (Biddle, Craig). When given the privilege of putting oneself in front of others, one can control their money however they please. It is crucial to be able to monitor one s private wealth if one wants to further succeed in the economy. Under capitalism, it is not always a cakewalk for corporations or the wealthy like people are led to believe, individuals and corporations legally own not only their profits but also their problems (Biddle, Craig). When one can control their wealth, it comes with complications as well. Those complications do not only apply to the poor, nor the rich. Problems do not discriminate; no one is excluded from experiencing such things. Finally, capitalism is beneficial because all people have the drive to avoid failure. • 41. South Dakota Landscape Carrie Breitbach s (2009) The Geographies of a More Just Food System: Building Landscapes for Social Reproduction revolves around the idea of bringing justice to the food system by rectifying landscape and social reproduction as a solution in South Dakota. In contrast, Peirce F. Lewis s Axioms for Reading the Landscape, focuses on how to read and understand landscapes through a set of rules which he calls axioms. In the Geographic (or Ecological) Axiom, Lewis argues that studying a landscape outside its location makes no sense in gaining cultural insight on the landscape (1979, 24). While Don Mitchell (2007, 43) in New Axioms for the Landscape, presents the idea that the shape of the land provides direction to its social life. He... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also details conservative techniques which can be used to preserve the wetlands in Eastern South Dakota. The USDA in 2007 reported that during 2006 2007, South Dakota sought a 16 percent increase in acres of corn planted for the production of ethanol (quoted in Bouchard 2007, 59). Consequently, an increase in corn production could predict a scenario where wetlands begin to be used for agricultural purposes. The purpose of the wetlands has changed which will have a positive and negative effect on the economy and the environment. Environmentally, ecosystems are destroyed, while there is economic growth. The environmental and economic decisions on the wetlands change its purpose demonstrating that the landscape is simply powerful because it can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Anatomy And Physiology Of The Thyroid Gland Hypothyroidism is one of the top diseases that goes unnoticed. Not many people know the affects the thyroid gland can have on the body, and how the thyroid gland has a part in regulating the many different systems. This paper will explain the anatomy and physiology of the thyroid gland, the description, sign and symptoms, causes and risk factors, the diagnosis of the disease, and the possible treatment plans for the disease. The thyroidgland, which is the largest endocrine gland in adults, is a butterfly shaped gland with two lobes that lie adjacent to the trachea just below the larynx. The thyroid function runs on hormone regulation, keeping the positive and negative feedback loop running correctly. The hypothalamus, responsible for most of the hormones in the body, secretes the thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH), which induces the anterior pituitary to secrete prolactin (PRL) and the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) that stimulates the thyroid to release thyroid hormone(TH). TSH stimulates the growth of the thyroid gland, and TH exerts metabolic effects. If the TH secretion drops in a healthy thyroid, TSH secretion rises and will stimulate the thyroid to push out more hormones. If the TSH is too high, the hormone somatostatin will inhibit the secretion of TSH and the growth hormone (GH). Hypothyroidismis the disease that causes the thyroid to be underactive and cannot make enough TH for the body to function normally. The body s metabolic effects rely on the ... • 45. Examples Of Ecofeminism And Environmental Ethics Ecofeminism as an environmental issue. Environmental ethics are based on moral relations that hold between human and the natural world (Paul, 1986). In environmental ethics people are extending the ethics to the environment by the exercise of self restraint (Roderick, 1989). The ethical principles that governs the relations of humans and nature determine human duties, obligations and responsibilities with regard to the Earth s natural environment and all the animals and plants that inhabit the nature (Paul, 1986). Environmental ethics has evolved to the point where many scientists believe they have a major responsibility to help society deal with the human predicament (Paul 2002). Most of the environmental ethics are through anthropocentrism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ecofeminism is also referred to as a theory which makes the links between the oppression of women and the oppression of nature in patriarchal culture; an ethical position informed by ecofeminist thought and activism is one which resists these oppressions (Constance et al, 1996). Early ecofeminist analyses of the causes and solutions for environmental ethics were based on the idea of a feminine principle of care that was thought as a foundation for a sustainable livelihood (David, 2003). The approach of feminine principle later became the object of internal critique, the critique included the development of feminist principles that criticized the meanings of feminine, masculine, nature and culture (David, 2003). According to this latter, critical approach, ecofeminism could no longer be defined as a community of women rather the community of people who participate in critical ecofeminist analyses of the global environmental situation (David, 2003). Many different interpretations of ecofeminism exist, each rooted in a particular intersection of race, class, geography and conceptual orientation (Constance et al, 1996). This diversity also reflects the multiple points from which ecofeminists have entered the movement (Constance et al, 1996).These include both academic and activist involvement in animal liberation, environmentalism, international development, peace activism, biotechnology, and genetic engineering (Constance et al, 1996). A strong influence in ecofeminism has been deep ecology, primarily academic movement which posits anthropocentrism as the root cause of the environmental crisis (Constance et al, 1996).
