While the Popularity of professional American football has grown to unbelievable numbers

if it is worth it. For a long time, the game of American professional football has been a love for

game has been all over the TVs in their homes for a long time and has been a source of joy and a

The sale of professional football jerseys, t shirts, hats and other clothes are making teams very rich.
On any given Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday night, it is not hard to
find groups of people that have gathered to enjoy the game of professional American football. All of
this is taking place in a time where concussion or head injuries have begun to gain attention at
every level of the game. As more and more games are being played, we are beginning to see more
and more concussion injuries on the playing field. While we think that this would scare people, the
popularity of the game continues to be at great levels.
The Birth of the Game of American Football
The National Football League (NFL) is the professional football league that most people
recognize as the giant of American football. However, the game did not begin with a
professional level. The first ever game of football that was played happened on the college level
on November 6, 1869. It took place in New Brunswick, New Jersey and was a game that put
Rutgers University against Princeton University. The two schools are located only 20 miles from
each other.
At that time, players were not allowed to pass the football in the air or run with it down the field.
The only way to move the ball down the field was by batting the ball or dribbling it kind of like
you were playing soccer. There were no

Health Care Reform and How the United States Got There.
For over a decade our healthcare system has been flawed, and for over a decade several
Presidents have tried to reform the health industry with little success. Advocates of health care
reform have been met with great controversy and resistance since as early as 1854 when President
Franklin Pierce vetoed the Land Grant Bill for Indigent Insane Persons that would benefit the
indigent insane, by arguing that the federal government should not commit itself to social welfare,
which he believed was properly the responsibility of the states ( Senate Debates On the Land Grant
Bill for Indigent Insane, 1854). Those apposed to change have fought diligently to cease the

The topic of major healthcare reform would not come to pass again, until the 1992
Election, when President Clinton made health care reform a centerpiece of his campaign.
(Bok, 1998). After winning the election he quickly formed a committee to address the multitude
of problems healthcare was having. After appointing Mrs. Clinton as the head of the task force
and months of speculation, a 1000 page document was presented to Congress on September 1993
outlining the guarantee of basic healthcare for all Americans. In a forceful tone, he urged the
lawmakers to fix a health care system that is badly broken... giving very American health security
health care that is always there, healthcare that can never be taken away (Bok, 1998). Like his
predecessors in the past, his plan would come to a standstill on September 26, 1994 when Senate
Leader George Mitchell announced that the health care legislation was dead (Bok, 1998). By the
time President Bush took office there was change in the air, but overall healthcare reform for all
was not one of them. President s Bush health care initiatives focused more on tax credits, Health
Saving Accounts and changes in code for healthcare insurance, instead for the millions who lacked
coverage. One of the biggest changes that came out of President Bush s term was the push today

The vinifications take place in thermo regulated concrete vats for an average of 21 days.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel. After the malolactic fermentation stage, all the
wines are carefully matured in oak casks of which 70% are new for about 15 months. The wine is
full bodied Pomerol, without the ripeness, elegance and concentration the better wines from the

Native American Mascots And Native Americans
1.Is the use of Native American mascots/ nicknames a thing of honor and pride or a stereotype of
Native Nations. For many years colleges and professional sports organizations made the choice to
select a mascot with relations to Native Americans, some being more noticeable and others being a
bit sneaky with their name. But nicknames for these organizations are often used without being
affiliated with a Native Nation, like the Redskins, Chiefs, Warriors, Tribe, and Indians. While other
organizations would often have a relationship with a certain Native Nations as a way of them being
allowed to use such nickname like the Utes, Blackhawks, Seminoles, Illini, and Fighting Sioux.

So it does I guess show some pride, especially for tribes who have or do use actual tribal names
like the Blackhawks, Seminoles, Aztecs, Eskimos, Utes and Fighting Sioux. So it just goes to

American mascot could work. 3.The use of Native American mascots were more common in the
early 1900 s, but as years went by Native American activist, or race activist would protest against

Our recommendation to San Juan Cell Phones, taking in consideration the risk is to accept the
order from Big Box and buy the 100,000 phones from the OEM Company, which will be able to
meet the deadline, make an identical phone to the Alpha model, and the price will be fourteen
dollars for each unit. This alternative will generate a profit $100,000.00, since cell phones would
be sold at fifteen dollars as shown in Table 1 3. The earning are not going to be substantial but at
the end we are not going to lose the customer; promote our company, attract potential customers,
which will bring even bigger profits to the company without cost control. Also we can expand the
company and at the end is going to generate new employments and the possibility of take the
company to a major chain level. In conclusion San Juan Cell Phones is a company that has the
opportunity to grow and already have products that gave them a good profit, but there is always
some space to improve their products. At this moment if when we use all the different strategies for
the incorporation of new products starting with the cost comparison, identify alternatives that
increment the cost, analyze the different risk, establish recommendation and elaborate a work plan
that benefit the company. It is important to always involve the personnel because they are the heavy

Essay on The Ford Pinto Case
Business Case (The Ford Pinto)
There was strong competition for Ford in the American small car market from Volkswagen and
several Japanese companies in the 1960 s. To fight the competition, Ford rushed its newest car the
Pinto into production in much less time than is usually required to develop a car. The regular time
to produce an automobile is 43 months but Ford took 25 months only (Satchi, L., 2005). Although
Ford had access to a new design which would decrease the possibility of the Ford Pinto from
exploding, the company chose not to implement the design, which would have cost $11 per car,
even though it had done an analysis showing that the new design would result in 180 less deaths.

Ford did not approach the question of redesigning the gas tank to make the car safer versus waiting
another year allowing the foreign market to dominate subcompact vehicles. Their goal was only to
maximize profits. They did not into account the interests of their share holders and when they did
come into consideration, they were analyzed against profits. One has nothing to do with the other.
Their goal should not have been a race to make the most affordable subcompact car. Their focus
should have been to make a subcompact car that was not only most affordable but also the safest
subcompact. They were aware of the dangers associated with the rush production. It would have
made a difference if the $11 savings had been passed on to the customers because they would ve
kept their reputation and integrity in tact and possibly gain customers who were not considering
the vehicle. Any rational customer would not have chosen to save $11 to drive a car at the risk of
dying. It is never appropriate to knowingly jeopardize people s lives. That is a criminal act. Their
actions were socially irresponsible, ethically and morally wrong. They did not consider their own
reputation nor did they consider that they represented America in the industry.
As a financial manager at Ford, I am obligated to protect, enhance and promote the profits of the
organization and the decisions I make will reflect my social responsibility. First, I would

Part One: Create a Field Experiment
Title: The Effect of Algae Growth on Mud Snails.
Introduction: I am going to do an experiment that will test whether algae effects mud snails. I want
to test this because I have learned about the effects of algae on certain ecosystems, and I want to
know how it will affect the salt marsh. I am interested in how algae growth will effect mud snails.
This project will help me learn the effects of algae on organisms living in the salt marsh.
Question: How does algae affect mud snails living in the salt marsh?
Hypothesis: High amounts of algae growing in the salt marsh will cause a large decrease in the
mud snail population.
Collection of Data: I am going to create three environments: one with no algae growing, one with
normal algae levels (as a control group), and one with high amounts of algae growing. Then I will
place a population of 100 mud snails in each. Finally, I will make a graph of how many mud snails
are alive at the different amounts of algae growth.
How I will analyze my data: I will organize my data into a graph. This will let me compare my
results easily because I will be able to see the mud snail population in comparison to the amount of
algae growth.
How I will record my data:

Irony In The Play Tartuffe
The play Tartuffe by Moliere, is one of the is one of the most famous of theatrical productions of its
type. The plot centers on the main character, Orgon, and the fact that his family has fallen under the
spell of the charismatic Tartuffe. Orgon and his family end up being beholden to
Tartuffe in that everything they do is run by him first. This is despite the fact that the rest of the
family despises him and is well aware that he is a fraud. Throughout this satirical work, a comedy

top in their actions, that the reader can t help but laugh at the absurdity of all it all. An example
of his can be seen when not only does the audience realize that Tartuffe is a fraud, but the rest of
Orgon s family does as well. However, taking the comedy a step further, Orgon not only won t
make a move without consulting Tartuffe, but then he opts to marry his daughter off to this
charlatan as well. A comedy of errors ensues after this point, as the family takes step to avoid this
happening. They decide to get Tartuffe to confess his romantic feelings of Elmire,
Orgon s wife. When this happens, the entire play snowballs as Tartuffe is able to pull the wool
over Orgon s eyes again and again. This again contributes to the comedy of this play as Orgon is
made to be an even bigger fool and the character of Tartuffe gets even bigger and more bombastic
at every turn. While the events that take place might seem on their face to be serious, the way that
Moliere describes the scenes and characters, the reader can easily see

Homosexuality In Ancient Greek Sexuality
Many recent movies such as Troy, 300, and Alexander address many different topics like race,
gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation in diverse ways. However, the major varying
topics of the three movies is the portrayal of sexuality, which must be clarified. Homosexual contact
between males was common in ancient Greek culture. However, because of the contemporary
public distress regarding homosexuality, movies tend to keep it out of its content. It is important to
understand the similarities between each movie and the historical realities of ancient Greek
sexuality. Even more so, the significance of how modern day attitudes and beliefs have influenced
the choices made on screen regarding sexual orientation.
To begin, since the movie Troy used Homer s Iliad as its main source, the relationships in the
movie Troy were strictly heterosexual. For example, the main relationship in the movie was
between Achilles and his war prize Briseis. In the movie they fall in love and over exemplify the
emotional connection between the man and woman. In ancient Greek myth, the treatment of
Briseis is much more severe. Also, ancient Greek sources reveal that Achilles and Patroclus
sometimes were represented as lovers, although that relationship was moderated and practically
absent from both Troy and Homer s Iliad. Because many of the conservative views in America,
homosexual behavior is talked about seldom. It is safe to say that the movie tries to reflect
Hollywood s discomfort

In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the green knight s wife plays a pivotal role in the story. Yet,
she is never given a name and it is unclear what motivates her actions. She could simply be
following her husband s orders to seduce this visiting knight. She could be under the tutelage of
Morgan le Fay. Or she may be acting under her own guidance and using her sexuality to carry out
her own desires or gain power. In light of this uncertainty, the unnamed wife s role in the bedroom

She also refers to Gawain as, my captive knight . This suggests that Gawain is in the submissive
position, which is not typically how a powerful, male knight is perceived. Oddly enough, this is
the case in medieval society. The lord is the master and the knight pledges loyalty to the lord and
his lady. In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this
problemitizes the typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to
command, to kiss when you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight.
His social role as a knight causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert
control over Gawain while still appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and
gender roles.
However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further
complicated when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. If she is merely following his
orders and offering her body to whom ever he commands, then she is undoubtedly submissive.
Clearly the wife s actions are in line with her husband s plans. In the end he tells Gawain, And the

This all makes the film very subjective and leaves much of the opening scenes open to

the ultimate goal of making better leaders. The tactics that each writer chooses to present as a

A hated leader would invite a rebellion that would try to remove him from power. On the other
hand, a leader should not be loved. Showing too much compassion will make the people think
you are weak, and he would permit disorders to continue. Machiavelli urges the leader to always
be personally armed, and preparing for war, even in peace time. The leader must continually train
his body and mind for combat. He believes that people are fickle and greedy, so they will take
whatever you give them. Ultimately, he believes the leader should do and say anything to keep the
people happy, but when it comes down to it, what makes them happy may not be best for the state
as a whole. An even mixture of both of these theories is the best for America. Something that our
leaders in the United States in past years aimed for is middle of the road politics, appealing to both
liberals and conservatives. Although I do not believe Machiavelli s honesty policy would go
over too well in the United States, I am sure his tactics are used by politicians in creating an
appearance that people want to see. A good combination for our government today is for the
president to not be personally armed, but have protection. He does not constantly train for war, but
has an appointed official dedicated for that purpose. In contrast to both writers, I believe the
American people today are neither inherently good nor evil exclusively, but we all want

Rhetorical Analysis Of Let Women Fight By Megan H. Mackenzie
A researcher and writer of women in security roles, published author and lecturer at the
University of Sydney. Dr. Megan H Mackenzie, wrote Let Women Fight, published in 2012 in
Foreign Affairs. Mackenzie argues that despite popular belief in the United States women can
indeed serve in combat roles next to men. Mackenzie begins by addressing some issues she has
with the proponents citing research and statistics, while also appealing to ethos and logos. The
tone that Mackenzie uses as well as the credible sources and appeals to the audience led me to
believe the persuasive elements. At first Mackenzie starts with an overview by describing the
unfavorable position that the United States currently holds toward women in combats roles, while...

Clarke And Stine Argumentative Essay
Despite what is commonly assumed, specific African traditions and beliefs were not merely
transferred from the continent to the Americas. Rather, African American communities took on
African customs and incorporated them into their own distinct worldview, and these new African
American customs were even transferred back to the Continent. The Atlantic served as a
passageway that did moved more than human bodies, but also the traditions that those bodies
carried with them. Evidence for this phenomenon is found through both anecdotal stories from the
Lowcountry as well as through anthropological findings on the way material objects were
understood and used. Although very different styles of research, Clarke and Stine provide

Homer, Plato And Diogenes
From the Archaic to the Classical periods in ancient Greek history, not only did human sculptures
change from rigid, inaccurate depictions of the human body to life like renditions of the gods, but
also, Greek views on the soma and the psyche evolved as well. The writings of Homer, Plato, and
Diogenes, all hailing from different times in Greek history, offer insight about their respective
views on the relationship of the body and the soul. The attitudes toward the dichotomy between the
body and soul of Homer, Plato, and pre Socratic writer, Diogenes differ distinctly on their emphasis
of the soul s role in the body. And through close analysis, it is evident that over time, the
perspectives of ancient Greek philosophers evolve toward placing... Show more content on

While Homer sees the body as an essential part of human identity, and Plato views the body as a
vessel and a contaminate of the soul, Diogenes highlights the air s role in aiding the soul to provide
life to the body. In a fragment from Aristotles, On the Soul, Diogenes is cited stating that air is
composed of the finest particles, and as an ultimate principle; for this reason he believes that the
soul both knows and causes movement (Aristotle 405a22). At first glance, this quote seems
contradictory in view of the fact that Diogenes believes the soul, a nonmaterial entity, is made
of air particles, which are physical objects. However, when referring to air in this context,
Diogenes does not mean the oxygen and carbon dioxide that we use to respire, rather he
considers air a cosmic form of air that flows with all of nature s fluctuations and changes, an air
with an infinite supply in the universe that runs through all living things. So, if examining
Diogenes works through the cosmic air lens, we see that the soul, like in Plato s depiction of the
body and soul, is the main driving force of the body; in fact, Diogenes is cited as saying that
men and all other animals live by means of Air, which they breathe in, and this for them is both
Soul (Life) and Intelligence (Diogenes 4). Additionally, Diogenes is also cited as noting that if all
air leaves the ducts, death occurs (Aetius 24.3). Mentioned earlier, Diogenes is quoted as saying
that air serves a purpose in assuring that the soul knows and causes movement. Clearly, in
Diogenes depiction of the soul, air is more than an inanimate particle floating in space; in fact, air
seems to function as a de facto soul. Thus, one can see that the pre Socratic philospher continually
comments on the importance of the soul s role in the body and how

Life Of A Multi Sport Athlete
There is a time in the life of a busy multi sport athlete (and especially the longer, time constrained,
endurance athlete) when you must eat, it must be a complete meal, and it must be quick. Your
body can only support high volume training, proper performance, and immune system strength
for a limited period of time if all your quick meals consist of microwaved meals in a box, gas
station trail mix, and even all organic food bars. You ll eventually crash. So you must make a
habit of regularly eating fast healthy meals and wholesome foods without heavy amounts of
preservatives, salts, sweeteners, and synthetic chemicals, and you must to figure out how to do
it without huge amounts of time and preparation needed. On that note, I m going to give you my
top ten meals that I rely on when I need good, nutritious food fast. That is, when I ve finished a
big ride and have to be at work in 10 minutes, when I ve gotten back from the gym and need to be

meal includes a complete blend of protein and carbs for recovery and performance needs, and
while none of these quick healthy meals are as tasty as filet mignon, lobster ravioli, or a loaded

The Rube Goldberg Project, assigned by my science teacher to instigate creativity and out of the
box thinking, brought out the ingenuity in all of us. Our task was to create a Rube Goldberg
Machine that was capable of ringing a desk bell. Individually or in groups, we had to build the
machine and present it to the class. This task seemed moderately simple, but in truth, it was much
more complicated than any of us had realized. Specific requirements needed to be met that further
hardened the project. However, by studying Rube Goldbergs life, his cartoons, and his machine, we
were able to tackle the challenge presented, including forging a team that would persevere through
many challenges.

Goldilocks Lab
he Goldilocks lab: Conclusion and Reflection
Conclusion:
The hypothesis stated was proven correct. It was hypothesized that if the distance between a light
source and a thermometer increases, then the temperature decreases. For the experiment, four
thermometers were placed 20 centimeters, 40 centimeters, 60 centimeters, and 80 centimeters away
from a lamp. The temperature of every thermometer was recorded at every minute for 10 minutes.
The data collected from the lab supports the hypothesis stated. At the beginning of the experiment,
the temperature of every thermometer at 0 minutes was between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius.
Halfway through the experiment at 5 minutes, the thermometer 20 centimeters away from the lamp

Knowing that the closer an object is to a heat source the greater its temperature is, data from the
last experiment can be used to form a hypothesis for the second part of the lab. In the next
experiment, a heat source would be on for 10 minutes and a prediction would be made for which
distance from the source would hit 28 degrees Celsius after 10 minutes. The hypothesis stated was
proven correct. It was hypothesized that if after 10 minutes a target temperature of 28 degrees
Celsius had to be reached, then it would be reached at 30 centimeters away from the heat source.
This is because the data from the first experiment stated that at 10 minutes, the thermometer 20
centimeters away from the lamp read 34 degrees Celsius, and the thermometer 40 centimeters away
from the lamp read 27 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the hypothesis was based on the data from the
first experiment. The data collected from the second experiment supported the hypothesis stated.
Before the lamp was turned on, the thermometer read 20 degrees Celsius. It was placed 30
centimeters away from the lamp. At 5 minutes, the thermometer read 28 degrees Celsius. At 10
minutes, the thermometer read 28 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the

Assembly Language
ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE
An assembly language is a low level programming language for a computer, microcontroller, or
other programmable device, in which each statement corresponds to a single machine code
instruction. Each assembly language is specific to a particular computer architecture, in contrast to
most high level programming languages, which are generally portable across multiple systems.
Assembly language is converted into executable machine code by a utility program referred to as
an assembler; the conversion process is referred to as assembly, or assembling the code.
Assembly language uses a mnemonic to represent each low level machine operation or opcode.

The popular arcade game NBA Jam (1993) is another example. Assembly language has long been
the primary development language for many popular home computers of the 1980s and 1990s
(such as the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, and Atari ST). This was
in large part because BASIC dialects on these systems offered insufficient execution speed, as well
as insufficient facilities to take full advantage of the available hardware on these systems. Some
systems, most notably the Amiga, even have IDEs with highly advanced debugging and macro
facilities, such as the freeware ASM One assembler, comparable to that of Microsoft Visual Studio
facilities (ASM One predates Microsoft Visual Studio).
The Assembler for the VIC 20 was written by Don French and published by French Silk. At 1,639
bytes in length, its author believes it is the smallest symbolic assembler ever written. The assembler
supported the usual symbolic addressing and the definition of character strings or hex strings. It
also allowed address expressions which could be combined with addition, subtraction,
multiplication, division, logical AND, logical OR, and exponentiation operators.

The Problems with Cliques Relatively 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying (

Also, according to Psychcentral.com, around twenty percent of teens experience depression

derived from social issues such as being rejected at school. Depression is rampant in schools where

It is founded on choices. People can either choose to encourage others or bring them down by
excluding them. Various internet sources estimate that an adult makes about 35,000 choices or
decisions each day. According to researchers at Cornell University, people make 226.7 decisions
on just food alone each day (Wansink and Sobal, 2007). Even though choices cannot be made for
others, positive reinforcements can persuade people to make the right choice again and again.
Everyone needs to make a conscious effort and a choice to connect with others using positive
reinforcements. Although including more group work in the classroom and using the sit with us
app could help some kids, it does not stop the problem completely. If cliques are going be
abolished, then bullying can be limited, and lives can be put back together for future generations.
The only long lasting and effective way to abolish all cliques that are constantly increasing bullying
is to use positive reinforcement when people include others in a healthy way.

Sacrifice In Genesis
There has been some debate about Genesis and the actual time that it was written. Many people
have their theories and beliefs, but the truth is yet to be found. Genesis was said to be wrote by
Moses, however according to the reading I could assume that is not the case. Others also believe
that Moses was the author of the Genesis. The understanding of when Genesis as well as the other
four books in the Old Testamentwere wrote can help modern day understand the writings more. The
Pentateuch could use some clarifying and Ibn Ezra, Benedict Spinoza, Astruc, and Julius
Wellhausen have all had their own opinions about the issue. Many questions have been brought to
light over the years. Some of these include, why are there two such clearly different creation stories
at the very beginning of the Bible?, Why is sacrifice mentioned so casually at the dawn of time,
and why does it play such a big role with Cain and Abel?, If Adam and Eve were the first humans,
from where did Cain get his wife and how can he be afraid of other people retaliating for
murdering his brother?, Why is the flood story so choppy and repetitive? (Enns, 2). These are all
questions that are not only wondered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These also have been questioned. These speeches were given from the promise land. The book
is all in the third person if it was actually from Moses. Another question that raises eyebrows is
that Moses is not the author of the book (Enns, 2). The book talks about Moses dying, this is a
clear indicator that the book was not written by Moses, and rather someone else who lived longer
than Moses did. A second early interpreter of Deuteronomy was the twelfth century rabbi Abraham
Ibn Ezra. Ibn Ezra was brilliant and respected and also reluctant to break with tradition too quickly
including the tradition that Moses wrote the Pentateuch (Enns, 3). He shared many passages that he

Similarities Between The Garden Of Eden And The Tabernacle
Similarities Between the Garden of Eden and the Tabernacle Throughout the Old Testament, the
tabernacle was a centerfold of worshiping God for the Israelite people. This was where believers
could congregate to seek peace, sing praises, and make animal sacrifices to God. The tabernacle
was also a resting place for God to come down from Heaven and dwell with His children. Similarly,
the Garden of Edenwas once a perfect creation for God to have an earthly dwelling place to be with
Adam and Eve. That, until the age old story of sin and deception came into place. The Garden of
Eden was a perfect model of how God designed a place of worship to be, that is why He provided
Moses with specific instructions of how the tabernacleshould be built as a replica of the garden.
The tabernacle stands as a symbolic model of the original creation the Garden of Eden, through
its reproduction of several of the garden s well known features, such as the cherubim guarding the
entrance, the Tree of Life, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the direction of the
Garden facing east. The tabernacle s recreation of the cherubim guarding the entrance to the Garden
of Eden is in its placement of these angelic beings sitting above and protecting the sacred Ark of the
Covenant. The ark was an intricately decorated wooden box holding a copy of the Ten
Commandments, symbolizing the living presence of God among the people. The ark, like
Eden, was a sacred place where only God could dwell and sin may never be present. After Adam
and Eve disobeyed God, cherubim were placed at the entrance of the Garden to shield His
perfect creation from sin. In doing so, He made sure that the two would not find the entrance
again, ( Guarding the Gate of Eden. ). Likewise, to protect the holiness of the ark, God ordered
the Israelites to create cherubim to protect the ark from sin intruding upon its presence. Lisa
Schachter states in her article, The Garden of Eden as God s First Sanctuary, that in both contexts
[the cherubim] are the guardians of both the literal and figurative Tree of Life discussed in the
story of creation. God did not want His perfect creation to become corrupted again, so He placed
cherubim on both sides of the ark as a

Migrant Workers Violations
Introduction
In 1981, Mauritania became the last nation to abolish slavery, ostensibly freeing the world from the
clutches of an inhumane institution. However, world leaders face a disturbing issue today: the
emergence of modern slavery. This takes the form of migrant workers and their systematic
oppression, marginalization, and abuse. Although migrant workers, by definition, are compensated
for their labor and therefore cannot be considered slaves, they are often not paid enough, lack the
ability to exercise their natural human rights, and are held against their will. These problems arise
mainly due to the fact that no sovereign state feels responsible for these migrant workers. While
they are citizens of their sending countries, they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some examples are Singapore, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea, and Qatar, and others tend to be
rapidly developing nations with a shortage of unskilled labor. They obtain workers by forming
contracts with third party recruitment agencies, but it is often the negligence of receiving countries
that causes the exploitation of migrant workers. The specific labor contracts are rarely negotiated
by the employers themselves, and as a result migrant workers lack crucial social protections. It is
important to note, however, that the abuse of migrant workers can be either intentional or
unintentional. Receiving nations may have intentions to provide safe working conditions and equal
wages, but this rarely occurs in real life. Migrant workers are often enter into labor contracts
because they are promised more than what they will actually receive by recruitment agencies. When
formulated solutions, nations in this bloc should examine their immigration policies and determine
whether they contribute to the problem or not. Delegates should also be aware of the political,
economic, and social reasons behind their countries use of migrant workers, as well as the specific
causes of abuses in their specific cases. Then, they must work towards measures to ensure legal

Supply Of Supply Chain Management Essay
Supply Chain Management involves the process of managing, monitoring, controlling and
constantly coordinating supply related activities among manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers,
retailer and the consumers. All this is done while integrating supply management with demand
management, not only within but also across companies. Since all the processes involved in
managing supply chain activities require a robust system in place, every company turns to
technology for efficient and effective synchronization and smooth deployment of processes along
with careful alignment of resources for timely completion of supply related activities.
One such system that allows firms to manage business and operations and automate time
consuming manual tasks is Enterprise resource planning system, which now is being integrated
with supply chain management by companies worldwide so that they can enjoy access to all
streamlined information related to various functions in the organization on one platform, thereby
saving time and cost. There are countless benefits of ERP within the firm, most of which are
related to allowing the employees in the firm to familiarize themselves with an efficient
streamlining process that not only brings activities in order but also helps tracking loopholes a lot
easier and fun. It is not only the fun use of technology that inspires the employees but also the

mob gets infuriated and decides to catch the culprit and hence, do justice. Though, aware of the

Lynch mob as a literal concept is self evident. Clark uses the mob as a form of criticism against the

He feels that law and justice are important to sustain a society and they must reflect the moral
conscience of the individuals. Conclusion The novel, The Ox Bow Incident, can be read at many
levels.
At one level, it deals with the inadequacies of the law in addressing to the question of justice and
at the same time highlights the importance of the law in a society as even in presence of
inadequacies, law is needed as it is better than a state of lawlessness.
Another interesting view put forth is that justice may not necessarily mean taking revenge and
punishing those who go against the society but it means that in doing so, the innocent must not
suffer and that every accused must be given an opportunity to fair trial and fair procedure in
determination of their guilt.
It also deals with the questions of morality and psychology of a person who assumes the position
of the judge while offering to judge the innocence or guilt of the accused and how the final holding

Theme Of Pride In House Of Mirth
It can be duly noted that, regardless of the time period, the history of American lifestyles follow
similar patterns. One can easily identify major stepping pinnacles through the literature published at

thematic realms of Freedom and Confinement, Pride, Respect and Reputation are often explored
and we can identify that the lives of these very different set of New Yorkers experience great

limiting the members of the society in House of Mirth to a sense of restriction. The self imposed

observation she was only too completely alive to them. She was perfect to every one:
subservient to Bertha s anxious predominance, good naturedly watchful of Dorset s moods,
brightly companionable to Silverton and Dacey. (Wharton, 2.1.43) The freedom in this society
is minimal, even to those who are financially adept. Selden states that his version of success is
freedom. Despite that he continues to participate in the menial activities of this society.
Previously, we noted that Selden is less restricted in this society and his male gender allows his
reputation to stand strong. This is also the case for his sense of freedom. He can feel free only
because he is a male and women are constantly confined because they are female. Similarly, Bertha
Dorset is completely aware of her downfall if her

The Othered Victorians
The Othered Victorians Introduction The Victorian period was a time of great hypocrisy. Despite
the fact that the Protestant work ethic was gaining popular support amongst the Victorians and
myths such as Samuel Smiles rags to riches became part of mainstream Victorian culture, the
Victorians were greatly divided into their respective social classes. Works like Thomas Carlyle s
The Irish Widow and Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children exemplified the
blatant disregard of the upper classes to that of the lower class. If the Victorians were divided
amongst themselves, imagine what it was like for people of different religions and races. The
Blacks of this period was one such race that suffered tremendously... Show more content on

The presence of black servants within the household also represented a sign of wealth (it meant
that you had enough money to keep a servant; it also signified a sense of acculturation because of
the exploration and discovery of new lands home of the black slaves). Differences Many
Victorians not only looked upon blacks as slaves or booty in war but they truly believed there
were physical as well as mental differences between them. The Victorians believed that blacks
were uncontrollable and salacious. The life of Sara Baartman (The Hottentot Venus) was used
as evidence in support of these allegations ( The Life and Times 1). Sara Baartman was a black
woman from South Africa during the 1800 s that had a steatopygia or enlarge buttocks (
Exhibiting 1). She was displayed naked first in France and then throughout Europe because of
this. Many other parts of her body were said to larger than the normal size. When she died at age
26, scientists dissected her body and found that, Baartman s oversized primitive genitalia was
physical proof of the African women s primitive sexual appetite ( Exhibiting ). This contributes to
the belief that there were no virtuous black women, which meant they could not be gentlewomen
like the ladies of the Victorian period. The science of phrenology, [t]he

Japan s Change Of Modernity And Democracy
There are many things that contributed to Japan s change to modernity and democracy whether it
was between the political parties or if it was between their cultural system and the people s rights.
Before Japan changed to a more modern and democratic society it was a feudal government
structure based on Confucius views which was during the Tokugawa period. During the Tokugawa
period there was a separation between the social classes which was categorized in four groups the
samurai, peasants, artisans, and merchants. The two classes that had the most power were the
samurai and the peasants. The samurai had the most power because they created a moral example
and the peasants came in second into the social class since they produced food which was
essential to survival of the people. The last two classes the artisans and the merchants. Although the
merchants were last in the social class some were very wealthy and even owned their own
monopolies, but since they were in the bottom of the class the laws prevented them to come higher
into power. Although Japan was a feudal government and was more traditional the Japanese still
developed some modernized urban influences like expanding their trading of commodities, and
their advancement in their science studies. Though the Japanese had some of these modernized
views the Tokugawa period soon came to an end due to the lack of government control by the
shogun which created the four classes to fall apart. The differences between

Philosophy Of Special Education
It is believed that all students have specific, varying needs and learning styles. As an educator, it is
my duty to meet the needs of every individual and make accommodations; especially in regards to a
student with an exceptionality. Special education should not be a separate division of a school but
rather an integral piece to complete the entire structure. Students with exceptionalities should be
given the exact opportunities that an able bodied student would have in areas such as, but not
limited to, educationand extracurriculars. They should be encouraged to participate with their
fellow peers and build relationships with students of all personalities and characteristics.

How Dmitri Shostakovich Adhere From The Conventions And...
In this essay I will be discussing the extent that Dmitri Shostakovich adhered to and rebelled from
the conventions and traditions that were normalized in classical music and I will offer varied
examples of the many times Shostakovich has obeyed and dissented within music throughout his
career. The career span of Shostakovich extends from 1926 when he presented his first major work,
SymphonyNo.1 to 1970 when he presented Quartet No. 7.
Born Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich on the 25th September, 1906, in St. Petersburg, Russia,
the composer began his descent into classical music at the age of 9, before later moving on to
study at the Petrograd conservatory. Throughout his life he compiled 15 symphonies, 15 string
quartets and 36 film scores as well as many other compositions. Within his musical work and the
course of his career Shostakovich managed to both adhere to traditions set within classical music as
well as dissent from them, I will be exploring these.
I would first like to address what traditions are associated with classical music to highlight how
Shostakovich dissented from these.
I will begin by briefly explaining the definition of chamber music, the definition of chamber music
is Instrumental music played by a small ensemble, with one player to a part, the most important
form being the string quartet. (www.oxforddictionaries.com)
Traditionally chamber music was often intended for a small and intimate audience rather than for
an orchestral performance that

Vulnerability Assessment ( Va )
1.Introduction
Security is a standout amongst the most difficult and complex issue in Information Technology (IT)
today. Security causes millions of dollars loss to the different organizations every year. Even if
99% of all assaults result from known vulnerabilities and flawed misconfigurations, an answer is
most certainly not direct. With a crowd of networks, operating system and application related
vulnerabilities, security specialists are getting the opportunity to be logically aware of the need to
review and direct potential security dangers on their network and systems. This requires a more
effective and insightful way to deal with sustaining the project. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) is
the procedure of identifying, quantifying, measuring and organizing dangers connected with system
and host based network to reduce its risk to the system. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) tools permit
customization of security strategy, computerized examination of vulnerabilities, and formation of
reports that helps to discover security vulnerability.
Network around the world is connected through various hardware and application. Different types
of connections are used to connect network around the world. Many organizations and companies
are using different types of network connected to the internet to flourish their business related
activities. Network is mainly categorized into three forms: LAN, MAN and WAN. All these
network are connected together to make an entire huge network around

Fellowship Of The Ring Book Analysis
J.R. R. Tolkien s classic novel The Fellowship of the Ring was made into a film in 2001 and
directed by Peter Jackson. This essay will be examining this specific film through a worldview
perspective. For the purposes of this essay, worldview will be defined as a perceptual framework .
(The Transforming Vision, pg. 17) Worldviews can be specific to a single person, or generalized to
a group of people. The worldview expressed in this essay through examples from The Fellowship
of the Ringwill come from the theme of Creation.
This theme of Creation is correlated with the creation of the universe by God, as written in the
book of Genesis. God created the heavens and the earth before Jesus was born; before salvation
ever occurred. Similarly, The Fellowship of the Ring opens with a narrative explaining what the
One Ring was and its importance to the rest of the story. The film does not begin with Frodo
saving the day, but rather the history that laid the foundation for his journey to happen. The ring
was forged in the fires of Orodruin by the Dark Lord Sauron after he convinced the elven smiths of
Eregoin to forge the Rings of Power. Although God is nowhere near the same as Sauron, both
created something specific to bring glory to themselves: God made the world, Sauron made a
ring. The difference is that God had a holy and righteous reason for creating, while Sauron did it
for evil and selfish purposes. God was able to speak the earth into existence (Genesis 1:3), but
Sauron had

Dr Mcmahon Character Analysis
A story to consider Epic needs to have a heroic character, like The history of the Kings of Britain,
demonstrated by describing each king and his adventures during their lifetime. Indeed, most of the
epic stories are realistic, but like Dr. McDonie described in his lecture notes, the book was mostly
invented. Indeed, about 99 of the kings that seen in the story, 70 were invented by Geoffrey of
Monmouth. Additionally, the introduction of romance to the story will change the perspective of
women and question the reader, where they have been in the entire book. As a matter of fact, I
agree with my classmate Dung Dinh with his point of view, of whom the book was written to.
Considering that Britain was conquest in 1066 by the Normans, the book

Online Shopping Problems
Introduction
There is no doubt that traditional brick and mortar retailers like us have seen a decline in sales
since the increased growth of e commerce. After researching the topic at hand, I have identified the
issues we face, and devised several solutions to aid us in our competition with online retailers.
Issues Sears Faces
The problem is, online retail is becoming the go to for convenience and customer service while
brick and mortar stores are struggling with sales growth. This problem is not only a Sears s
exclusive problem, but a shift in the way customers are shopping today. In order to further examine
this issue, I have first compared how other large brick and mortar retailers are doing in their
battles with Amazon. Walmart, for example, has seen incredibly slow growth while Amazon, is
growing on an exponential level. According to a 2014 article by fool.com, Walmart s five year
projected annual earnings growth rate was only about 7.9% while Amazon s was 46.6% (Duggan,
2014).
Consumers are turning to online retailers for cheaper prices, a more convenient shopping
experience, fast delivery, and a new technologically advanced way to shop. Traditional retailers
are in a price battle with stores like amazon that offer the same or similar products cheaper online.
Many times customers will even go to brick and mortar stores just to see the product in person
before shopping for better deals online. Shopping online has taken customers from brick and mortar
stores

Second Circuit Conjunctive Analysis Essay
Since Frank Lyon, the Circuit Courts have been divided on how to apply the two prong test of the
economic substance doctrine. The inconsistency is reflected in the current and ongoing STARS
transaction cases. Each circuit has chosen a different path pertaining to the test. The Second Circuit
applies a flexible unitary analysis. The Federal Circuit applies a conjunctive analysis but takes a
different approach from the Second Circuit in applying the objective prong of the test. The Eighth
Circuit also applies the conjunctive test and also applies the objective prong differently. Finally, the
First Circuit applies a disjunctive analysis.
Alongside similar facts, the courts faced a common key question in analyzing the objective prong
in the STARS cases: whether the relevant transaction created a reasonable opportunity for profit
exclusive of the tax benefits claimed.
BNY explicitly included the foreign taxes paid by the U.S. bank as part of the costs of the
transaction, despite authority that both U.S. taxes and foreign taxes should be ignored in the
evaluation of pretax profitability. However, BNY and Salem did not include income from the Bx
payment in their analysis of profitability because they had characterized that payment as a tax
effect. Santander took the opposite approach. It concluded that the Bx payment was not a tax rebate
and therefore treated it as income for purposes of the profitability analysis, resulting in a
determination that the satisfied the objective prong

Farewell To Arms Character Analysis
The general should be able to understand the enemy s keen strategy, adjust his own actions
accordingly, and apply the needed timely counter measures. The skilled general is flexible and
innovative, he alters and adapts his strategy, according to the needs of a changing environment,
while recognizing that the concept of war possess too many uncertainties, multiple elements of
surprise, wild cards and risks to consider and analyze. While the general is very flexible, he is
very cautious and careful at the same time. He is capable of keeping his officers and men in
ignorance of his plans , so no one has knowledge of what he is doing. (Chapter 11, P.137. 43, 45)
He takes advantage of the enemy s unpreparedness; attacks him when he does not expect it.

What Is The Development Of Heathcliff In Wuthering Heights
This summer we had to read the book Wuthering Heights by Emily BrontГ«. This paper will cover
the development in Heathcliff, how Catherine Earnshaw influenced other characters even though
we didn t meet her in the story, the symbolism shown in the novel, how Wuthering Heights fits into
the category of gothic fiction, as well as my own expert opinion of the story.
In the story Heathcliff is a pretty significant character. He is brought in by Mr. Earnshaw as an
orphan and is treated well by him. He then starts to fall in love with Mr. Earnshaw s daughter
Catherine that lasts the whole story. However, when Mr. Earnshaw dies, his son Hindley
becomes in charge of the house basically treats Heathcliff as a servant, he constantly looks down
at him as if he is useless. So, in the beginning of the story when Heathcliff is first introduced as a
dirty orphan who is taken in by Mr. Earnshaw who is instantly hated by Hindley because he feels
his father loves Heathcliff more than himself. This results in Hindley bullying Heathcliff as a child
and when Mr. Earnshaw dies and he becomes in charge to remember to flog him. At this point in
the story and the first transformation of Heathcliff he goes from being an orphan to being hated by
Hindley and becoming his human punching bag. The interesting thing about this is that Heathcliff
just takes it he never really fights back or tell Mr. Earnshaw he just gets up and goes about his
business not even acknowledging that it happened.

Conflict Theory In American History X
American History X The film, American History X, is about two brothers, Derek and Danny,
who fall victim to their social environment in Venice Beach. A community that was once
predominately white becomes overrun by violence with the ever growing presence of blacks,
minorities and illegal immigrants. This opens the door to the boy s racist mentality, while their
father Dennis is then murdered doing his job as a fireman by a black man in a drive by
shooting. Derek s hatred towards blacks grew from this incident and was later fueled by the
influence of Cameron, the leader of a white supremacy group. Derek eventually commits a hate
crime and is sentenced to serve three years in prison for the murder of two black men. While in
prison Derek suffers the hardships of prison life and the betrayal of his own kind . He then
realizes his hatred towards blacks was initiated and controlled by others and not what he truly
wanted to identify with and vowed to change his ways. Then once he was released from prison,
Derek knew he needed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Derek thought Lamont had to be lying about his crime. Cameron is also an example of the

How Far Do You Agree That Mussolini Rise to Power Was Due...
Mussolini rise to power through the use of violence is widely evident as it is summed up in this
Mussolini himself for my part, I prefer 50 000 votes to 5000 votes . Alternatively, there are also
many other factors that shows Mussolini did not depend on violence but however considered it a
useful tool. This could be from his foreign policy, effort with socialist trade unionist and his effort
in gaining political power legally. As Fascismbegan as a radical socialist movement, it was only
inevitable that radical measures be taken. Mussolini use of violence mainly relied on the squadristi.
This was his main instrument of violence and it was made up of a group of paramilitaries, the
famous black shirts. The extent to which they were use... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His oratory skills along with his influence on the press such as Ill popolo d italia provided a huge
benefit to the fascist party. This is shown in 1921, Mussolini was forced to step down and was to
be replaced with D annunzio however, the 2 factors stated above recognized the huge power and
influence Mussolini had therefore felt they needed him in order to maintain the support base for
fascism. Mussolini also appealed to most aspect of life and had good relations with the church
particularly the pope and the south. The south came to support the fascist as they provided funds
in order to keep the business running. The church was also taken by Mussolini as he introduce a
range of measures i.e formally dropped proposals to tax church property. This is summed up by
pope puis xvi saying:
Mussolini has a proper understanding of what is necessary for this country in order to rid it of the
anarchy to which it has been reduced by an impotent parliamentarianism
This shows that although terror was used in order to gain power, the squadristi actions was
justified as certain groups of people welcome this action and violence was only extensively use
during the beginning of the fascist regime. However, we can later see Mussolini tries to gain
power by legal methods, such as running for office and appealing to the masses which in time,
replace the violence used during the early period of the fascist

For over a decade our healthcare system has been flawed, and for over a decade several Presidents have tried to reform the health industry with little success. Advocates of health care reform have been met with great controversy and resistance since as early as 1854 when President Franklin Pierce vetoed the Land Grant Bill for Indigent Insane Persons that would benefit the indigent insane, by arguing that the federal government should not commit itself to social welfare, which he believed was properly the responsibility of the states ( Senate Debates On the Land Grant Bill for Indigent Insane, 1854). After appointing Mrs. Clinton as the head of the task force and months of speculation, a 1000 page document was presented to Congress on September 1993 outlining the guarantee of basic healthcare for all Americans. In a forceful tone, he urged the lawmakers to fix a health care system that is badly broken... giving very American health security health care that is always there, healthcare that can never be taken away (Bok, 1998). Like his predecessors in the past, his plan would come to a standstill on September 26, 1994 when Senate Leader George Mitchell announced that the health care legislation was dead (Bok, 1998). By the time President Bush took office there was change in the air, but overall healthcare reform for all was not one of them. To fight the competition, Ford rushed its newest car the Pinto into production in much less time than is usually required to develop a car. The regular time to produce an automobile is 43 months but Ford took 25 months only (Satchi, L., 2005). Although Ford had access to a new design which would decrease the possibility of the Ford Pinto from exploding, the company chose not to implement the design, which would have cost $11 per car, even though it had done an analysis showing that the new design would result in 180 less deaths. Ford did not approach the question of redesigning the gas tank to make the car safer versus waiting another year allowing the foreign market to dominate subcompact vehicles. Their goal was only to maximize profits. They did not into account the interests of their share holders and when they did come into consideration, they were analyzed against profits. One has nothing to do with the other. Their goal should not have been a race to make the most affordable subcompact car. Their focus should have been to make a subcompact car that was not only most affordable but also the safest subcompact. They were aware of the dangers associated with the rush production. It would have made a difference if the $11 savings had been passed on to the customers because they would ve kept their reputation and integrity in tact and possibly gain customers who were not considering the vehicle. Any rational customer would not have chosen to save $11 to drive a car at the risk of dying. It is never appropriate to knowingly jeopardize people s lives. That is a criminal act. Their actions were socially irresponsible, ethically and morally wrong. They did not consider their own reputation nor did they consider that they represented America in the industry. Introduction: I am going to do an experiment that will test whether algae effects mud snails. I want to test this because I have learned about the effects of algae on certain ecosystems, and I want to know how it will affect the salt marsh. I am interested in how algae growth will effect mud snails. This project will help me learn the effects of algae on organisms living in the salt marsh. Question: How does algae affect mud snails living in the salt marsh? Hypothesis: High amounts of algae growing in the salt marsh will cause a large decrease in the mud snail population. Collection of Data: I am going to create three environments: one with no algae growing, one with normal algae levels (as a control group), and one with high amounts of algae growing. Then I will place a population of 100 mud snails in each. Finally, I will make a graph of how many mud snails are alive at the different amounts of algae growth. How I will analyze my data: I will organize my data into a graph. This will let me compare my results easily because I will be able to see the mud snail population in comparison to the amount of algae growth. However, the major varying topics of the three movies is the portrayal of sexuality, which must be clarified. Homosexual contact between males was common in ancient Greek culture. However, because of the contemporary public distress regarding homosexuality, movies tend to keep it out of its content. It is important to understand the similarities between each movie and the historical realities of ancient Greek sexuality. Even more so, the significance of how modern day attitudes and beliefs have influenced the choices made on screen regarding sexual orientation. To begin, since the movie Troy used Homer s Iliad as its main source, the relationships in the movie Troy were strictly heterosexual. For example, the main relationship in the movie was between Achilles and his war prize Briseis. In the movie they fall in love and over exemplify the emotional connection between the man and woman. In ancient Greek myth, the treatment of Briseis is much more severe. Also, ancient Greek sources reveal that Achilles and Patroclus sometimes were represented as lovers, although that relationship was moderated and practically absent from both Troy and Homer s Iliad. In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this problemitizes the typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to command, to kiss when you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight. His social role as a knight causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert control over Gawain while still appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and gender roles. However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further complicated when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. The tactics that each writer chooses to present as a guide for the leader are almost opposite of each other. Today s American government would benefit from a combination of the two extreme ideas. Lao Tzu s laissez faire attitude towards the economy, as well as his small scale, home defense military is appealing to a liberal person. Machiavelli s attitude towards miserliness and lower taxes, while being always prepared for war, would appeal to a conservative person. The writers are in agreement on some issues, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A hated leader would invite a rebellion that would try to remove him from power. On the other hand, a leader should not be loved. Showing too much compassion will make the people think you are weak, and he would permit disorders to continue. Machiavelli urges the leader to always be personally armed, and preparing for war, even in peace time. The leader must continually train his body and mind for combat. He believes that people are fickle and greedy, so they will take whatever you give them. Ultimately, he believes the leader should do and say anything to keep the people happy, but when it comes down to it, what makes them happy may not be best for the state as a whole. An even mixture of both of these theories is the best for America. Something that our leaders in the United States in past years aimed for is middle of the road politics, appealing to both liberals and conservatives. Although I do not believe Machiavelli s honesty policy would go over too well in the United States, I am sure his tactics are used by politicians in creating an appearance that people want to see. A good combination for our government today is for the president to not be personally armed, but have protection. The writings of Homer, Plato, and Diogenes, all hailing from different times in Greek history, offer insight about their respective views on the relationship of the body and the soul. While Homer sees the body as an essential part of human identity, and Plato views the body as a vessel and a contaminate of the soul, Diogenes highlights the air s role in aiding the soul to provide life to the body. In a fragment from Aristotles, On the Soul, Diogenes is cited stating that air is composed of the finest particles, and as an ultimate principle; for this reason he believes that the soul both knows and causes movement (Aristotle 405a22). At first glance, this quote seems contradictory in view of the fact that Diogenes believes the soul, a nonmaterial entity, is made of air particles, which are physical objects. However, when referring to air in this context, Diogenes does not mean the oxygen and carbon dioxide that we use to respire, rather he considers air a cosmic form of air that flows with all of nature s fluctuations and changes, an air with an infinite supply in the universe that runs through all living things. So, if examining Diogenes works through the cosmic air lens, we see that the soul, like in Plato s depiction of the body and soul, is the main driving force of the body; in fact, Diogenes is cited as saying that men and all other animals live by means of Air, which they breathe in, and this for them is both Soul (Life) and Intelligence (Diogenes 4). Additionally, Diogenes is also cited as noting that if all air leaves the ducts, death occurs (Aetius 24.3). Mentioned earlier, Diogenes is quoted as saying that air serves a purpose in assuring that the soul knows and causes movement. Clearly, in Diogenes depiction of the soul, air is more than an inanimate particle floating in space; in fact, air seems to function as a de facto soul. • 30. Cliques Research Paper The Problems with Cliques Relatively 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying ( 11 Facts about Bullying n.p.). A majority of that bullying is stemmed from cliques within schools. Also, according to Psychcentral.com, around twenty percent of teens experience depression before they reach adulthood ( Why Are So Many Teens Depressed n.p.). Most of this depression is derived from social issues such as being rejected at school. Depression is rampant in schools where bullying cliques reside. According to the Webster dictionary, a clique is defined as a small group of people with shared interests or other features in common who spend time together and do not readily allow others to join them (Merriam Webster s Online dictionary).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is founded on choices. People can either choose to encourage others or bring them down by excluding them. Various internet sources estimate that an adult makes about 35,000 choices or decisions each day. According to researchers at Cornell University, people make 226.7 decisions on just food alone each day (Wansink and Sobal, 2007). Even though choices cannot be made for others, positive reinforcements can persuade people to make the right choice again and again. Everyone needs to make a conscious effort and a choice to connect with others using positive reinforcements. Although including more group work in the classroom and using the sit with us app could help some kids, it does not stop the problem completely. If cliques are going be abolished, then bullying can be limited, and lives can be put back together for future generations. Genesis was said to be wrote by Moses, however according to the reading I could assume that is not the case. Others also believe that Moses was the author of the Genesis. The understanding of when Genesis as well as the other four books in the Old Testamentwere wrote can help modern day understand the writings more. The Pentateuch could use some clarifying and Ibn Ezra, Benedict Spinoza, Astruc, and Julius Wellhausen have all had their own opinions about the issue. Many questions have been brought to light over the years. Some of these include, why are there two such clearly different creation stories at the very beginning of the Bible?, Why is sacrifice mentioned so casually at the dawn of time, and why does it play such a big role with Cain and Abel?, If Adam and Eve were the first humans, from where did Cain get his wife and how can he be afraid of other people retaliating for murdering his brother?, Why is the flood story so choppy and repetitive? • 32. Similarities Between The Garden Of Eden And The Tabernacle Similarities Between the Garden of Eden and the Tabernacle Throughout the Old Testament, the tabernacle was a centerfold of worshiping God for the Israelite people. This was where believers could congregate to seek peace, sing praises, and make animal sacrifices to God. The tabernacle was also a resting place for God to come down from Heaven and dwell with His children. Similarly, the Garden of Edenwas once a perfect creation for God to have an earthly dwelling place to be with Adam and Eve. That, until the age old story of sin and deception came into place. The Garden of Eden was a perfect model of how God designed a place of worship to be, that is why He provided Moses with specific instructions of how the tabernacleshould be built as a replica of the garden. The tabernacle stands as a symbolic model of the original creation the Garden of Eden, through its reproduction of several of the garden s well known features, such as the cherubim guarding the entrance, the Tree of Life, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the direction of the Garden facing east. The tabernacle s recreation of the cherubim guarding the entrance to the Garden of Eden is in its placement of these angelic beings sitting above and protecting the sacred Ark of the Covenant. The ark was an intricately decorated wooden box holding a copy of the Ten Commandments, symbolizing the living presence of God among the people. The ark, like Eden, was a sacred place where only God could dwell and sin may never be present. After Adam and Eve disobeyed God, cherubim were placed at the entrance of the Garden to shield His perfect creation from sin. In doing so, He made sure that the two would not find the entrance again, ( Guarding the Gate of Eden. ). Likewise, to protect the holiness of the ark, God ordered the Israelites to create cherubim to protect the ark from sin intruding upon its presence. Lisa Schachter states in her article, The Garden of Eden as God s First Sanctuary, that in both contexts [the cherubim] are the guardians of both the literal and figurative Tree of Life discussed in the story of creation. God did not want His perfect creation to become corrupted again, so He placed cherubim on both sides of the ark as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, world leaders face a disturbing issue today: the emergence of modern slavery. This takes the form of migrant workers and their systematic oppression, marginalization, and abuse. Although migrant workers, by definition, are compensated for their labor and therefore cannot be considered slaves, they are often not paid enough, lack the ability to exercise their natural human rights, and are held against their will. Examples of this is that women marry solely for financial purposes, women should not befriend married men or even smoke cigarettes. Despite the fact that the Protestant work ethic was gaining popular support amongst the Victorians and myths such as Samuel Smiles rags to riches became part of mainstream Victorian culture, the Victorians were greatly divided into their respective social classes. Works like Thomas Carlyle s The Irish Widow and Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children exemplified the blatant disregard of the upper classes to that of the lower class. • 38. Japan s Change Of Modernity And Democracy There are many things that contributed to Japan s change to modernity and democracy whether it was between the political parties or if it was between their cultural system and the people s rights. Before Japan changed to a more modern and democratic society it was a feudal government structure based on Confucius views which was during the Tokugawa period. During the Tokugawa period there was a separation between the social classes which was categorized in four groups the samurai, peasants, artisans, and merchants. The two classes that had the most power were the samurai and the peasants. The samurai had the most power because they created a moral example and the peasants came in second into the social class since they produced food which was essential to survival of the people. The last two classes the artisans and the merchants. Although the merchants were last in the social class some were very wealthy and even owned their own monopolies, but since they were in the bottom of the class the laws prevented them to come higher into power. Although Japan was a feudal government and was more traditional the Japanese still developed some modernized urban influences like expanding their trading of commodities, and their advancement in their science studies. Though the Japanese had some of these modernized views the Tokugawa period soon came to an end due to the lack of government control by the shogun which created the four classes to fall apart. The career span of Shostakovich extends from 1926 when he presented his first major work, SymphonyNo.1 to 1970 when he presented Quartet No. 7. Within his musical work and the course of his career Shostakovich managed to both adhere to traditions set within classical music as well as dissent from them, I will be exploring these. I would first like to address what traditions are associated with classical music to highlight how Shostakovich dissented from these. I will begin by briefly explaining the definition of chamber music, the definition of chamber music is Instrumental music played by a small ensemble, with one player to a part, the most important form being the string quartet. This essay will be examining this specific film through a worldview perspective. For the purposes of this essay, worldview will be defined as a perceptual framework . (The Transforming Vision, pg. 17) Worldviews can be specific to a single person, or generalized to a group of people. The worldview expressed in this essay through examples from The Fellowship of the Ringwill come from the theme of Creation. This theme of Creation is correlated with the creation of the universe by God, as written in the book of Genesis. God created the heavens and the earth before Jesus was born; before salvation ever occurred. Similarly, The Fellowship of the Ring opens with a narrative explaining what the One Ring was and its importance to the rest of the story. The film does not begin with Frodo saving the day, but rather the history that laid the foundation for his journey to happen. The ring was forged in the fires of Orodruin by the Dark Lord Sauron after he convinced the elven smiths of Eregoin to forge the Rings of Power. Although God is nowhere near the same as Sauron, both created something specific to bring glory to themselves: God made the world, Sauron made a ring. Issues Sears Faces The problem is, online retail is becoming the go to for convenience and customer service while brick and mortar stores are struggling with sales growth. This problem is not only a Sears s exclusive problem, but a shift in the way customers are shopping today. In order to further examine this issue, I have first compared how other large brick and mortar retailers are doing in their battles with Amazon. Walmart, for example, has seen incredibly slow growth while Amazon, is growing on an exponential level. According to a 2014 article by fool.com, Walmart s five year projected annual earnings growth rate was only about 7.9% while Amazon s was 46.6% (Duggan, 2014). Consumers are turning to online retailers for cheaper prices, a more convenient shopping experience, fast delivery, and a new technologically advanced way to shop. The inconsistency is reflected in the current and ongoing STARS transaction cases. Each circuit has chosen a different path pertaining to the test. The Federal Circuit applies a conjunctive analysis but takes a different approach from the Second Circuit in applying the objective prong of the test. The Eighth Circuit also applies the conjunctive test and also applies the objective prong differently. Finally, the First Circuit applies a disjunctive analysis. Alongside similar facts, the courts faced a common key question in analyzing the objective prong in the STARS cases: whether the relevant transaction created a reasonable opportunity for profit exclusive of the tax benefits claimed. BNY explicitly included the foreign taxes paid by the U.S. bank as part of the costs of the transaction, despite authority that both U.S. taxes and foreign taxes should be ignored in the evaluation of pretax profitability. However, BNY and Salem did not include income from the Bx payment in their analysis of profitability because they had characterized that payment as a tax effect. Santander took the opposite approach. It concluded that the Bx payment was not a tax rebate and therefore treated it as income for purposes of the profitability analysis, resulting in a determination that the satisfied the objective prong ...
