Abstract
Electrochemical behavior and hydrogen evolution reaction of mild steel in sulfuric acid solutions,
containing different concentrations of gamma Aminobutyric acid (GABA) as a green inhibitor have
been investigated. The electrochemical techniques included Tafel polarization and electrochemical
impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The rate of both the corrosion reaction and the hydrogen evolution
affected significantly by changing GABA concentrations. Polarization results showed that GABA is a
mixed type inhibitor with good inhibition efficiency. Increasing the temperature led to an increase in
the hydrogen evolution rate and a decrease in the total surface resistance value (RT) or the relative
film thickness (1/CT) of the steel. Quantum calculation including EHOMO, ELUMO, the energy gap
(?E) and the fraction of transferred electrons (?N) demonstrated the inhibition ability of GABA. The
results were confirmed by surface examination using scanning electron microscopy. Adsorption of
GABA on the steel surface fitted the Langmuir isotherm. Thermodynamic parameters

How To Applying Generative Adversarial Networks To...
Applying Generative Adversarial Networks to 2D Animation
Introduction: Throughout its history, creating animated media has always been a balancing act, as
adding more individually drawn images, called frames, gives a better looking product but requires
more time and effort. Computer generated animation has further exacerbated this issue by
automatically creating frames between two key frames, i.e. frames that separate distinct actions or
scenes. The issue here is that the output appears too perfect when done this way, which makes it less
desirable than traditional hand drawn animation. Providing an automatic method to generate frames
with hand drawn quality will greatly benefit multiple industries and academia.
One of the most compelling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will consist of 10 frame animation clips with a textual description of the scene, and this will
likely require work to be outsourced to Amazon Mechanical Turk (AMT).
On AMT, participants can be paid a small amount to watch the clip and provide short descriptions of
what they observed. Animated clips can be found on websites such as YouTube, and I expect that
having at least 6,000 total frames should provide a solid starting point. After checking the AMT
responses and the downloaded clips, the data set can be split sixty/forty into its initial training and
evaluation subsets.
While the data set is being assembled, I will begin designing the initial architecture for the
CNN. This will include a literature review of the most recent peer reviewed papers in computer vision
so that my model innovates on the current state of the art. I will implement this model in the
programming language Python with the Caffe deep learning framework, which I used during my UCF
REU. If my architecture is based on an approach that already exists, I will attempt to use a pretrained
model to improve its learning rate. I also desire to strengthen my background in computer vision, so I
will take related classes during that fall and/or commit time to self study the topic further. When the
initial data set and model are ready, I will allow the CNN to train until it stops noticeably

Boy At The Window By Richard Wilbur
Snowmen: More Man than Snow
We are all just snowmen, fragile, emotional, melting into tears, even if no other human being sees us
that way. In the poem Boy at the Window by Richard Wilbur, a young, innocent boy is described
feeling the pain of a snowman about to feel the effects of a winter storm. The different points of view
as well as the speaker s poetic style, which allows for connotation, impacts the story to make it the
quality two stanzas that it is. The speaker s use of two viewpoints is one element of the speaker s style
that impacts the poem. It assists the reader in reading the story from the perspective of the characters,
and let us know their emotions and inner thoughts. This makes for a much more interesting story than
if the story was written from the outsider s perspective. The boy and the snowman s points of view are
not the same, but similar. The boy is in a state of despair after learning that the snowman might be
destroyed by a blizzard, not realizing that the snowman can withstand it because he is also made of
snow. The snowman is content to ride out the blizzard, but sheds an icy tear, moved by the heavy
emotions of the boy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many phrases could be taken by readers as having double meanings or multiple definitions. Stanza 2,
Line 7 of the poem speaks of The child at the bright pane . Wilbur is primarily referring to the window
pane that the boy is gazing through. However, this phrase has a double meaning, as the boy is also
staring through the pain that he feels for the frosty being. The speaker also makes use of personifying
words. Through this, the blizzard heading for the snowman is given the human characteristic of having
a gnashing and enormous

King Arthur Queenie Case
Queenie an innocent woman who is being convicted of supposedly killing her husband Arthur. What
really happened was Queenie, had came home 10 minutes before her friends were coming over to there

another drink from down stairs evidence from the picture shows Queenie look shocked to see Arthur
laying on the flour died after falling down the stairs to get a drink. If Queenie properly tripped or
pushed Arthur down the stairs to kill him while no one was watching them, or even in there house

you know that it is Queenie cooking and not arthur because he was upstairs and not down stairs where
the stove is. If queenie was cooking food for her and her friends, why would she trip or push farther
down the stairs while she is cooking something. When someone is cooking they would stop what they
are doing and kill someone. Arthur in the picture is wearing some type of bath robe while he is
walking down the stairs, while Arthur is upstairs in a robe he is probably sleeping or tired. while
Arthur is wearing a robe walking down the stairs arthur was tired he would have a higher chance of
slipping or tripping down the stairs.when you are wearing a robe you are most likely tired. When you
or tired you are more likely to fall down the stairs. From the picture you can see Arthur after falling
down the stairs is laying on his back with his head first. If queenie had pushed him down the stairs he
would have moved faster than if he fell or slipped down the stairs, if he was moving faster from being
pushed he would have not have time to have turned over on his back what would have happened is he
would have landed on his stomach with his head first. As a rule you move faster being pushed then

Analysis Of Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe, was a nigerian writer, poet, critic, and professor. Born and raised in south east nigeria,
Achebe became curious and fascinated with traditional African cultures and religions as he grew up.
Then, as a university student studying English Literature, he starting writing stories and in 1959, he
eventually created Things Fall Apart, a story that depicts african imperialism in the 1800s and 1900s
and captures the rapid changes that occurred in african culture during that time. . This novel received
attention and praise from the whole world, Chinua Achebe suddenly became renowned for his literary
workmanship and went on to publish many more creations. Living in Lagos, Achebe witnessed the
issues with development from old to new cultures in African communities. Europeans envisioned
africans as uncivilized and most were not enlightened of the post colonial conditions and freedom in
Africa. These factors prompted Achebe to inform the world about Africa s real identity and establish a
new voice in African literature. The viewpoint of Achebe was biased to some extent when writing this
novel, as someone who came from africa and had a goal of restoring his country s cultural dignity, but
it also provided a unique point of view and a story produced from real life experiences. This book by
Chinua Achebe is known as a historical fiction, the characters and events did not occur in the past, but
they were devised according to historical occurrences and are correct in terms

Analysis Of Longitude By Dava Sobel
Longitude by Dava Sobel was a book that explained in great detail the struggle to find longitude at sea
and way it was so necessary. Sobel talked about the tragedies that followed with not finding longitude
at sea and then the discoveries and trials that had occurred to find a final solution. Throughout the
book, you understand the urgent need to find longitude why it was so hard, and what it really took in
order to come to the final discovery. As you read through this paper you will get an understanding of
the topics Sobel talked about in her book such as, the shipwrecks and tragedies that occurred without
longitude at sea, the two competing methods to find longitude and the man who discovered it. The

There were many cases like these that inevitably made the problem of not knowing how to find
longitude into an all out panic to solve it. Shipwreck after shipwreck, it became hard to ignore the
issue at hand, so Parliament took action. In 1714, after countless merchants and seamen demanded
help to find a solution Queen Anne put into action the Longitude Act, which was accompanied by
three sets of money prizes. The first prize was in the amount of £20,000 and you had to come close to
at least a half of a degree of a great circle. The second prize was in the amount of £15,000 and you had
to be in two thirds of a degree, and finally, the third prize was £10,000 and that had to be within one
degree. Along with the Longitude Act in order to figure out if methods that were proposed and
explained were accurate, they created a Board of Longitude. The Board of Longitude was made up of
many people like scientists, naval officers, and government officials but there were also ex officio
members on the board as well. The board was given the ability to give out funds and grants to help
competitors further their discoveries and help better them in order to discover a method of finding
longitude. They also were able to find the accuracy of the discoveries that they were presented by
sending them on trial runs and testing them on ships as they went on voyages but only from Great
Britain to any of the

Close Reading Analysis: The Gilded Six Bits
In Zora Neale Hurston s short story The Gilded Six Bits, there are many aspects that can be analyzed.
However, I found it interesting that the act of objectification is reoccurring in this story from
beginning to end. Objectification means to make a person or thing into an object rather than a human
being or what it is. The character, Otis D. Slemmons, plays a very pivotal part in this story. His
perception of wealth also plays an important role since the whole turning point of the storyline
happens because of it. Mister Slemmon s wealth and possessions cause everyone to be drawn to him.

monster hiding in the cave of his pockets to destroy her (Hurston 288). Not only is Missie May treated

that way as well. But the next day as she joyfully made up their bed, beneath her pillow she found the
piece of money with the bit of chain attached (Hurston 288). Then another thought came clawing at

As if to say he could pay as well as Slemmons (Hurston 288). The gold coin is the main thing that this

is a symbol of wealth for Slemmons. Joe is very envious of Slemmons because he has been given gifts

Mistakes, everyone makes them, but what if not all mistakes were bad. Mistakes are a key point in
discovery. Most things that are used in people s everyday lives are mistakes. For example, microwaves
and gravity were both discovered by mistakes. Mistake aren t always good and sometimes mistakes
can cause major damage. Sometimes mistakes can can end up bad, but it s worth the risk.
First off, something we use every day was a mistake. Microwaves, that thing that heats up food and
pops popcorn, was a mistake. Source two states, Spencer noticed that the bar of chocolate melted.
Spencer was just standing next the microwave while it was on and his chocolate melted, after that he

Thomas Hobbe s Philosophical Political Piece
Thomas Hobbe s philosophical political piece The Leviathan argues that society functions most
effectively if all state and commonwealth is delegated by an all powerful sovereign, and that without it
we are in a state of chaos, otherwise titled by Hobbes as the state of nature (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p.
181). I will argue that it is not possible to acknowledge what life is like in the state of nature without
fully acknowledging that life in the state of nature leads to an all powerful sovereign that ultimately
leads to the benefit of the people due to humanity s innate fear of death and desire for civilization. To
elaborate, in humanity s most primal state of being, stripped away from all states of authority and
government, civilization is in a state of aggressive disarray that is nasty, brutish, and short (Thomas
Hobbes, 2002, p. 181). Without the Leviathan, we as humans are primal, aggressive, chaotic, and
uncivilized. As a result of this innate reaction of pandemonium in absence of an appointed authority,
in order to function effectively as members of society we run into the arms of an all powerful
sovereign, which cannot be challenged and therefore has limitless power (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p.
180, p. 181). It is important to note the Hobbes Leviathan assumes that humans have a biological
yearn to be civilized, and a biological yearn to fear death, being the two drives we have to seek
civilized refuge in the all powerful sovereign. Therefore, given the

(Sahuquillo 2007). Brain injury is normally thought of in terms of primary and secondary insults. First
published in the 1970 s this remains a useful concept as it differentiates between the unavoidable
irreversible primary injury and the potentially avoidable secondary one (Adams 1977). Primary brain
injury occurs immediately at the time of injury, whereas secondary injury is a cascade of events that
contributes to intracranial hypertension resulting in a reduction in cerebral perfusion pressure and
ischaemia (Marmarou 1991). The cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is determined by the Monro
Kellie hypothesis. In closed head injuries, the skull has a fixed volume and the pressure within it is
determined by the equilibrium between the CPP, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and the intracranial
pressure (ICP) using the equation: CPP = MAP − ICP Therefore, assuming a constant blood pressure,
as ICP rises CPP must fall. Minimising the ICP, should minimise ischaemia and brain damage
resulting from localised pressure thus leading to a global increase in perfusion and therefore oxygen
delivery to the brain. There is class I evidence that cooling to a mild hypothermic state of ≤35oC
reduces intracranial hypertension by limiting cerebral oedema. In addition it is thought that moderate
hypothermia of 33oC

Persuasive Speech On Babysitting
Many teenagers turn toward babysitting as a means of earning money. However, the first time a person
babysits can be nerve wracking. Children are unimaginably important to their parents. It takes a lot of
trust for a parent to put his or her child in the care and protection of a babysitter. This puts an immense
amount of pressure on a babysitter to be perfect. Despite all the stress babysitting can bring, it is easy
if you follow four simple rules. When first arriving at the house, it is important to ask for all the
necessary contact and emergency information, so that if anything bad happened, you would know who
to call and what to do. Because an emergency is a high stress situation, you could easily forget the
emergency information. It is helpful to write down the information as you receive it and putting it
somewhere that is readily available. This eliminates the possibility of forgetting the information and
ensures that you can handle an emergency quickly and effectively.
Along with emergency and contact information, ask about the child s typical schedule when they eat
meals, if and/or when they take a nap, and other basic rules the parent has. Do your best to stick to
these schedules, but do not force the schedule on the child. Sometimes kids get tired sooner than
naptime or are not hungry at dinnertime. This is completely okay. Do not be afraid to upset the parent
by not following the schedule strictly. Generally, children are unpredictable and schedules are only

Separation Anxiety And Its Effects On Children
Separation anxiety is very common as children grow and develop. They may fear those few moments
during daycare drop off or that initial first meeting with a new babysitter. These children will often
times grow out of this anxiety after they become familiar with their surroundings and caregivers. But,
if they continue having these separation anxiety induced outbursts, even after they have been with a
trusted caregiver for a time, parents and primary caregivers often worry about the well being of their
child and their child s development. They may believe that their child has acquired a Separation
Anxiety Disorder (SAD). I selected this topic because I work with multiple toddlers in a center and
their parents have expressed some minor worry towards whether or not their child suffers with SAD or
if this anxiety is causing them delays. I would love to be able to know some minor details about this
broad topic and refer them to the website and articles that I found helpful when writing this report.
This topic is important because it is has many symptoms that are similar to regular and
developmentally appropriate separation anxiety. When a child suffers from SAD, it is something that
needs attention by a pediatric professional in order for it not to affect the child later in life. The first
article that I read and reviewed was called Adult Agoraphobia and Childhood Separation Anxiety:
Using Children s Literature to Understand the Link . It was a fairly theoretical and made the

The Rights Of Women In The Iranian Women s Rights
Iranian women are considered second class citizens and are legally bound to obey their husbands.
They are forced to wear the Hijab and follow the Islamic dress code. The Islamic dress code is
enforced by the Morality Police, men who are volunteer members of the Baiji militia. If they are found
to be violating the dress code they are chastised, stoned, and beaten. Women in Iran also have no
choice in who they marry and the legal age of marriage for women is thirteen while a man s is fifteen.
Iranian men may have more than one wife and may divorce her at any time, giving them full custody
of their children. Iranian women also may not have a passport and they may not travel without written
permission from their husbands. Only seventeen percent of Iranian women are in the workforce, and
they hold jobs in what is considered traditional women s jobs such a nursing, teaching, and
beauticians. The government of Iran has created laws and regulations that allow businesses to
discriminate against Iranian women. These laws make it impossible for women to hold any senior
management jobs in the workforce. In 1936, Iranian Women were given the right to vote. The Iranian
revolution in 1979 turned the clock back for women s rights. In 1979 before the overthrow, twenty two
women were on the parliament and over three hundred women were members of elected councils.
After the revolution, all the women were forced out of working in the government. In 2013 President

My Rule Of Life
My Rule of Life is going to help and direct me to where I want to grow spiritually. Like a trellis that
helps guide plants to grow up in the direction it need to go, I want my Rule of Life to the same. With
God s first two questions to humanity, Where are you? and Where is your brother? I answered by
saying that I do not know. Right now, I am at a time where I feel lost and need some guidance. I grew
up in a Catholic household, but I never paid attention during mass. I believed that my background was
going to help me but saying that I am a catholic does not mean the same as being a catholic. Ever
since then I never started to build my spiritual trellis that is going to help me grow and connect with
God. Once I went through some of the spiritual practices, it has helped me understand and look at
things in a different perspective. I began to build my spiritual trellis around margins, non judging,
blessing others, and encouraging others. I have not been doing the practices from my Rule of Life, but
I plan to use these practices hopefully every day for the rest of my life. By doing this I would expect
myself to have grown and reach the gates to the kingdom. The selected spiritual practices margin, non
judging, blessing others, and encouraging others are on my Rule of Life. I chose margin because I
liked the feeling of slowing down and really taking time to look at things I may have missed. As a

Gender, Age, And Ethnicity
The Relationship of Gender, Age, and Ethnicity in the Dying Process
Taylor Livingston
Denver School of Nursing
Abstract
The relationships of gender, age, and ethnicity can all impact how a person will react and cope with
the death of a loved one. Gender is impactful in the way that women are expected to much more
emotional and dramatic in their response to death, where men expected to remain stoic and unaffected
by a death as to not show weakness to those they are to protect. In children and adolescents its
important to acknowledge age but also assess developmental level. Adults need to remain honest with
children and be mindful of their actions because that s how they will learn to grieve positive or
negative. Ethnicity and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender
Gender can hold a strong influence in how an individual survives the death of a loved one. The
general differences between males and females and the management of the grief process carries
through from one culture to another. Most adults manage grief in the same way with the exception of
parents losing a child. When parents loose a child they often experience the same emotions but they
may not always be showing it in the same way (Christiansen 2014). Girls employed significantly more
strategies to cope with stress compared to boys. (Kauser Munir 2004). One study that was referenced
in the book Understanding Dying, Death, and Bereavement, women had greater tendencies to self
mutilation and crying, while men would tend to direct aggression and anger away from themselves
(Leming Dickinson 2016). During a traditional African funeral, the women would cry and moan,
while the men would dance and sing, men are not to cry in front of women because they would appear
weak before the very group they are supposed to protect (Leming Dickinson 2016). This way of
thinking has the greatest influence on the way men grieve across many cultures and societies. One can
wonder if that way of thinking hadn t been implemented then perhaps men and women would grieve
more similarly. Another study mentioned in the book Understanding Dying,

Lives of the Saints is a story that examines the complexities and tribulations of everyday life in a
small town. Throughout the novel, we discover that even the most trustworthy and caring individuals
live secret lives behind closed doors, and that the surface appearance of minor communities can be
very deceptive. Some people spend their entire adult lives trying to knock down these doors and
discover the truth, but perhaps they are overlooking the key to the lock... our children.

Eventually, as Vittorio makes his progression towards maturity, he realizes that he had underestimated
his friend, and they become closer because of it. As the old saying goes, ignorance is bliss. But
perhaps in the case of this young boy, it isn t. Maybe if he had been able to understand the severity of
the problem his family was in, he would have acted differently.
Lives of the Saints also deals with the contrast of good and evil, something that Vittorio comes across
on numerous occasions throughout the story. (There are far more characters in this story then I could

A Research On Technology Management
Technology Management It is the innovation in the working environment permits organizations to
grow rapidly and effectively. Business innovation, for example, video conferencing, interpersonal
organizations and virtual office innovation has evacuated work environment limits that beforehand
constrained business development. With business innovation, organizations can focus on a more

the work process. Computerized documenting frameworks spare space, paper and printing costs. The
utilization of computerised systems like robots permit remedies to be made in a flash. Assets like

Gardner Versus Traditional Teaching Methods Rhetorical...
Gardner vs Traditional Teaching Methods Mr. Gardner expresses the theory that students should first
learn how to understand a few important subjects and be able to decipher unique situations rather than
just memorize facts for standardized tests. He builds his argument eloquently using mainly logos and
ethos as his persuasive methods. He uses logos by making the reader think logically and digest not
only his opinion, but the opinion of other experts. As for ethos, Mr. Gardner impresses upon the reader
that he has a wealth of knowledge and an extensive background in the subject of education.
Professor Gardner presents logos by quoting psychologists and educators, usage of historical analysis,
and real world examples. This forces the reader to think about their own experiences and how they
were taught and what teaching style would be best for their own children or themselves. He believes
that students should learn to appreciate multiple perspectives about a subject and rid themselves of
their simplistic misconceptions (Gardner 634). However, wiping the mental slate clean he says, is not
a simple task and he furthers his point using logos in paraphrasing Lauren Resnick , disconfirming
experiences do not always suffice to dissolve faulty conceptions and ... Show more content on

Violence In The Media
Violence in the media tends to be compelling to people across America. The average American has
seen 200,000 acts of violence, including 40,000 murders, on television by age eighteen. Often, the
media plays a pivotal role in the way violence is portrayed to citizens. The media can decide which
pieces of information to include or expunge from a broadcast. People soak up the incidents that are
happening in other neighborhoods across the United States because it does not affect them personally.
Violence shown on television can often be manipulated to fit one side of the story, and is tolerated by
the public because emotional detachment is simpler when the violence occurs halfway across America
from one s home.

The Four Sectors Of The Police Role In Homeland Security
The four sectors or systems of the police role in homeland security are national security system, safety
system, criminal justice system, and security system. Since the events of September 11, 2001, it has
been recognized that the police are an important part of the anti terrorism effort, working in
cooperation with the military, intelligence agencies, and others in the national defense or national
security system (Cordner, 2016, p.419). In light of their own perceptions and also data gave by the
general population, police can assume the part of first preventers of terrorisms. In accordance with the
traditional view of policing, the police are the gatekeepers at the front end of the criminal justice
system (Cordner, 2016, p.419). The criminal justice system tires to prevent wrongdoings react when
wrongdoing does happen, and make criminal cases of evidence against suspected guilty parties.
Generally, whatever is left of the criminal equity framework relies upon the police, who control the
section point to the framework and largely figure out which guilty parties will be taken care of by
prosecutors, judges, and restorative authorities. The safety system key components in this framework
incorporate fire assurance faculty, crisis medical staff, general wellbeing, doctor s facilities, and crisis
directors. One more framework in which police have a critical influence is the security system. Safety
system takes on great importance in the homeland security context because it

Disenfranchisement in Haiti Essay
Often time disenfranchisement is shown in various places throughout the world. Although saddening,
people face tragedies that cause them to lose things most important to them every day. For example,
when the earthquake in Haiti struck, the people of Haiti lost everything they considered valuable.
Having faced many obstacles, Haitian people dealt with the disenfranchisement of their pride and their
possessions; there are endless amounts of literature that reference to the tragedies that occurred in
Haiti and how these mishaps have affected the life that they are having to live.
Haiti is one of the more indigent countries in the world; the country also holds a low economic status.

The earthquake of 2010 altered the way the people of Haiti looked at everyday life, as well as, it
caused them to be deprived of all hope on creating a new beginning. On Tuesday January 12, 2010,
the Haitian society knew that their world would never be the same. Having killed over 300,000 people
and wounded more than 200,000 people, the magnitude 7.0 earthquake was demoralizing to the
Haitians ( The 2010 Haiti Earthquake ). To make matters worse, following the magnitude 7.0
earthquake there were twelve aftershocks containing a magnitude larger than 5.0 ( Earthquake in Haiti
). The outcome of the earthquake was devastating to the extent that the minority of people who
survived stood on the remains of their churches, grocery stores, and even their own homes.
Corporations like Merlin USA and others around the globe are contributing in various ways to help try
to rebuild Haiti s nation. Working to repair Haiti s demolished society, Merlin tries to bring
appropriate health care to all susceptible associations in Haiti ( Haiti ). Strongly, Merlin continues to
put in a great effort and they have tended to around 47,986 patients merely in Port au Prince ( Haiti ).
Sorrowfully, people are constantly dying from Cholera in Haiti; nevertheless, it seems to them that

1993 Pulitzer Prize For Photography
The picture above won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Photography. As shown, this picture is very
depressing, sad, heartbreaking, and unfortunate. Any sorrowful word that can think, will describe this
photo. The first time I saw it at the Newseum last year, I cried because it touches my heart to see a
young starving child yearning for food to eat at the middle of nowhere, but can t find one. Just looking
at this photo explains the emotions. I ll just begin by describing the story behind this particular photo.
Similarly to the emotions from the photo, the story behind it is also tragic. It starts off with a South

First of all, there are two point on this image. The first is the girl and the second is the vulture. In
between both points there is an imaginary line that connecting the point. This line directs the eyes to
move from one point to the other point. Speaking of lines, this picture is an example of a diagonal line
because the subjects are in an angle. The imaginary line between the subjects, but also in the picture,
carries some form of distance and depth. Another element is the focus area. It is clear that the subjects
are more in focus than the background. This is very important because the photographer might have
used this technique to send a very powerful message about starvation and the need for aid in Sudan. In
addition, this scene was in a moment because if the vulture could have flown away, this picture would
have a different meaning. The contents are strong, naturally placed, and balanced. Related to the focus
area, the visual weight or emphasis is mostly on the child. Again that send a strong message. Lastly, I

Analysis Of Nash The Water Warrior
Water conservation is vital for human, plant and animal survival, it is a precious resource and must be
sustained (Department of Health, 2017). Nash the Water Warrior is a Stage 1 picture book which
highlights ways water is used at home, tips to save water, the importance of water sustainability and
the responsibility for future generations (O Rourke, 2017), incorporating the Stage 1 outcome

future (NESA, 2012). The story allows the readers to see the process and results of a fair test, giving
the readers evidence based incentive to have inquiries, and be motivated to make changes regarding
their water consumption, leading them to have admiration for the Earth resources.
The story links to the Stage 1 Science Syllabus as it identifies ways that people use science in their
daily lives to care for the environment and the Earth s resources ST19ES (NESA, 2012). The story
includes Water Wonders, these scientific facts are beneficial as they are relatable to the student s life
(Cadek, 2009, p.87). Students can incorporate the knowledge learnt from the story to further their
development in hands on (O Rourke, 2017) investigations such as how to clean water (Skamp Preston,

The Challenges Of Co-Locating Of Intercompute And Storage...
SUMMARY This paper broadly talks about co locating of compute and storage nodes in HPC
architecture to overcome the I/O challenges in scientific applications. In a conventional HPC
architecture compute nodes and storage nodes are located far apart and are interconnected via shared
network. The bottleneck of the system is the gap between compute node and I/O which continues to
widen up with increasing storage. The idea of co locating distributed storage nodes with compute
nodes seems to be an eye catcher, as it allows the applications to perform their computation or
manipulate their intermediate results and checkpoints, the data only needed to be transferred over the
network for archival purpose only. This paper also discusses the ... Show more content on

God Bless You Mr Rosewater Essay
Comparing the Use of Satire in the Given Stories
God bless you Mr. Rosewater and Major Barbara s story are two satirical works of literature. They
have contributed to rising up great plots and story setting in the world of literature, depicting varied
characters and vivid descriptions of scenarios in the plays. Therefore, this paper compares Major
Barbara and God bless you Mr. Rosewater.
Satire is a work of literature that uses humor, which can be in the form of irony, ridicule and
exaggeration to criticize and expose other people s vices especially in politics and other important
issues in the society.
In God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, the millionaire Eliot Rosewater is the rich founder and leader of
Rosewater Foundation, but we see him suffering due to his love for all people. He moves to
Rosewater, Indiana with all his wealth because he feels that is a better society. Mr. Rosewater claims
the paternity of all the children whose mothers place a claim to avoid surrendering the leadership of
the family business (Allen). On the other hand, in the story; Major Barbara, the relationship between
Stephen and his mother is satirical in the way she commands and always complains to him about

Who Really Discovered America Essay

Who discovered America?
By: Deanne Mastrocola
Why is it that American culture today attributes its geographic discovery to a man named Christopher
Columbus? Could it be that he was the first European to claim this land as part of an Imperialistic
expansion or is it merely out of convenience for the history books? It is known that the American
continent was populated by 1000 AD which is long before settlements by Viking fisherman and even
longer before the arrival of Columbus. In spite of this fact every October, we as a culture celebrate a
holiday in honor of the man who is believed to be the discoverer of America. Like so many other

about 500 years before Christopher s voyage, Leif set out to discover new lands. Trying to follow
Bjarnes tracks Leif Erickson led his Vikings over the Atlantic Ocean to the new land. Leif Erickson
had drifted by the wind way out of course and spotted a flat wooded coastline far westward, this was
the new world. When Leif got to this new land he founded a place named Vinland, he called it that
because of all the grape vines the Vikings found there. It was later named America, after an Italian
named Amerigo Vespucci. After a few years the colony in Vinland was abandoned after hostile attack
by the native people along with the fact that it got too cold. The settlers moved across the land until
their population numbered 3,000. But in the 1400s the climate changed dramatically for the worse and
the settlement had disappeared within a few decades. Leif Erickson had opened a new land rich with

The Movie The Boy s The Striped Pajamas And Of Course...
I first experienced the mystical possibilities of filmmaking by witnessing the artistic genius of Mark
Herman in his movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and of course the one and only Alfred Hitchcock
or I like to call him The Wizard of Thriller in movies like, The White Shadow (one of the greatest
silent movies by him), Peak years and the famous Psycho. As a filmmaker, I studied nuances,
character based storytelling and building up a story from the introduction of the main till the end
having misunderstanding or war within oneself or with someone else in the middle. I look to create
tales that brings a thrill to the viewers in the form of films. And that s the reason why my team and I
chose to do something different with our film and that little uniqueness about our film is the
Panoramic style. It s been a while since a Panorama movie have been made. If you have seen all those
western cowboys movies like Mackenna s Gold made in 1969 closely, you will find that the entire
movie was made in panoramic style. The plan of this movie Mackenna s Gold was original to be
shown in single lens Cinerama, but unfortunately, the Columbia took that idea away. But when did this
Panoramic way of movies come out after the 90 s? A music video probably but a movie, I don t think
so. That s the reason why my team and I or I prefer to call us The Zeitgeists decided to make our film
a little different. We have all seen how movies have changed from black and white films to color and

Liberalism in Canadian Government Essay
Liberalism is the best ideology for Canada s government and is a good combination of both Socialism
and Conservatism. Liberalism takes the finer parts from both ideologies to create a better form of
government. Canadians now have a choice in which ideology they like better by this compromised
form of government. The centre of the spectrum and the equilibrium of government and individual
ownership is the definition of Liberalism.
A good example of why Liberalism is the number one choice from most Canadians is public and
privatized hospitals. Right now, Canada only has public hospitals that are free for everybody in need
of medical assistance but require a health care plan. Public hospitals are paid by taxes, just like public

Or they won t have to spend tons of money on private doctors. Instead, Canadians would have a
choice and freedom to choose whichever ideology objective they prefer.
This reason why we get such low and competitive prices on goods is due to the fact that we have less
government control on what kinds of shoes to wear, colour car to drive, etc. This is a mostly
Conservationist, who agree that their should be individual ownership on things. The problem with this
is, as sad as it is to say, people need to be given some direction because people make mistakes. With
this is in play, limits can be made to how low prices go or how you can t sell certain items. Liberalism
is exactly this and is already being implemented throughout Canada. I find no problems with the way
Canada s economy is running now, so why change it?
People are not equal. The whole idea of trying out for a team or getting a scholarship is what makes us
human. Humans are naturally competitive and strive to become better at whatever it is they enjoy.
Everybody is different, they can be smarter, stronger, faster, etc. Therefore I believe that people with
smarter, more complex jobs, should deserve more money. People who do not apply themselves should
earn less money. Again though, it comes down to choices. Unions were created in Canada for the
socialist point of view, where every worker in a union get roughly the same pay and are treated fairly.

Nietzsche s Conception Of Metaphor
Mohammed Alhajri Marcos Norris English 1102 12 12 July 2015 Understanding of Metaphor
Metaphors which are creative linguistic images of the objects, taken from the environment, are the
integral part of any literary work. The nature of metaphor is considered in not only the linguistic, but
also philosophical and psychological contexts. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast
Friedrich Nietzsche and Northrop Frye`s treatment towards metaphor, which is described by both
authors as a part of cognitive processes. The article On Truth and Lies in Nonmoral Sense by Friedrich
Nietzsche considers the nature of metaphor in reference to creative thinking. Due to Nietzsche`s
conception, the metaphor is greatly connected with human intelligence ... Show more content on

metaphors: To begin with, a nerve stimulus is transferred into an image: first metaphor. The image, in
turn, is imitated in a sound: second metaphor (Nietzsche, 3). According to Frye, the literature and
literary images are connected with individual construction of the vision of world. The images and

Responsible Citizenship In Ronald Wright s A Short History...
Despite mankind s best effort, the history of mankind is a wrinkled mess. These wrinkles are due to
mankind s inability to stop history from repeating itself several times over. However, the idea of
history repeating itself is not new to the literature of today s society. There are several more causes for
wrinkles in mankind s history. In fact, Ronald Wright argues that not only the idea of history repeating
itself, but also the idea of mankind progressing to the point that progress becomes detrimental to
mankind will result in the extinction of mankind. Therefore, Wright s argument in A Short History of
Progress should shape the discussion of responsible citizenship because his viewpoints show how
human ignorance allows mankind to progress towards extinction.
Responsible citizenship involves preventing the growth of the negative components of society;
however, mankind s progress has grown to the point where it is negative to society. The idea of

A part of responsible citizenship is ensuring that the society grows and becomes more efficient as it
evolves. Wright discusses how mankind has never truly grown and changed because, these things had
already been done on a small scale . . . so this spur of art and technology cannot be evidence that we
suddenly evolved into a new species (p.39). By these things Wright means the advancements of
humankind in several aspects: technological, and social. Thusly, he demonstrates that the progress
thought to be brand new to this generation is a repeat of a previous development. Theoretically
speaking then, how can something be better if it is just a different a different shell of the same object?
It cannot be, therefore mankind is not growing but simply repeating the same cycle over and over

  • 2. Electrochemical And Quantum Chemical Studies Of The... Electrochemical and quantum chemical studies of the corrosion and hydrogen evolution reaction of mild steel in acid medium Rabab M. El Sherif a,*, K. M. Zohdy b Sowmya Ramkumar c a Cairo University, Faculty of Science, Department of chemistry, Giza, 12613, Egypt b Higher Technological Institute, 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt c Department of chemistry, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Peelamedu, Coimbatore, India Abstract Electrochemical behavior and hydrogen evolution reaction of mild steel in sulfuric acid solutions, containing different concentrations of gamma Aminobutyric acid (GABA) as a green inhibitor have been investigated. The electrochemical techniques included Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The rate of both the corrosion reaction and the hydrogen evolution affected significantly by changing GABA concentrations. Polarization results showed that GABA is a mixed type inhibitor with good inhibition efficiency. Increasing the temperature led to an increase in the hydrogen evolution rate and a decrease in the total surface resistance value (RT) or the relative film thickness (1/CT) of the steel. Quantum calculation including EHOMO, ELUMO, the energy gap (?E) and the fraction of transferred electrons (?N) demonstrated the inhibition ability of GABA. The results were confirmed by surface examination using scanning electron microscopy. Adsorption of GABA on the steel surface fitted the Langmuir isotherm. Thermodynamic parameters ... • 3. How To Applying Generative Adversarial Networks To... Applying Generative Adversarial Networks to 2D Animation Introduction: Throughout its history, creating animated media has always been a balancing act, as adding more individually drawn images, called frames, gives a better looking product but requires more time and effort. Computer generated animation has further exacerbated this issue by automatically creating frames between two key frames, i.e. frames that separate distinct actions or scenes. The issue here is that the output appears too perfect when done this way, which makes it less desirable than traditional hand drawn animation. Providing an automatic method to generate frames with hand drawn quality will greatly benefit multiple industries and academia. One of the most compelling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will consist of 10 frame animation clips with a textual description of the scene, and this will likely require work to be outsourced to Amazon Mechanical Turk (AMT). On AMT, participants can be paid a small amount to watch the clip and provide short descriptions of what they observed. Animated clips can be found on websites such as YouTube, and I expect that having at least 6,000 total frames should provide a solid starting point. After checking the AMT responses and the downloaded clips, the data set can be split sixty/forty into its initial training and evaluation subsets. While the data set is being assembled, I will begin designing the initial architecture for the CNN. This will include a literature review of the most recent peer reviewed papers in computer vision so that my model innovates on the current state of the art. I will implement this model in the programming language Python with the Caffe deep learning framework, which I used during my UCF REU. If my architecture is based on an approach that already exists, I will attempt to use a pretrained model to improve its learning rate. I also desire to strengthen my background in computer vision, so I will take related classes during that fall and/or commit time to self study the topic further. When the initial data set and model are ready, I will allow the CNN to train until it stops noticeably ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Boy At The Window By Richard Wilbur Snowmen: More Man than Snow We are all just snowmen, fragile, emotional, melting into tears, even if no other human being sees us that way. In the poem Boy at the Window by Richard Wilbur, a young, innocent boy is described feeling the pain of a snowman about to feel the effects of a winter storm. The different points of view as well as the speaker s poetic style, which allows for connotation, impacts the story to make it the quality two stanzas that it is. The speaker s use of two viewpoints is one element of the speaker s style that impacts the poem. It assists the reader in reading the story from the perspective of the characters, and let us know their emotions and inner thoughts. This makes for a much more interesting story than if the story was written from the outsider s perspective. The boy and the snowman s points of view are not the same, but similar. The boy is in a state of despair after learning that the snowman might be destroyed by a blizzard, not realizing that the snowman can withstand it because he is also made of snow. The snowman is content to ride out the blizzard, but sheds an icy tear, moved by the heavy emotions of the boy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many phrases could be taken by readers as having double meanings or multiple definitions. Stanza 2, Line 7 of the poem speaks of The child at the bright pane . Wilbur is primarily referring to the window pane that the boy is gazing through. However, this phrase has a double meaning, as the boy is also staring through the pain that he feels for the frosty being. The speaker also makes use of personifying words. Through this, the blizzard heading for the snowman is given the human characteristic of having a gnashing and enormous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Analysis Of Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe Chinua Achebe, was a nigerian writer, poet, critic, and professor. Born and raised in south east nigeria, Achebe became curious and fascinated with traditional African cultures and religions as he grew up. Then, as a university student studying English Literature, he starting writing stories and in 1959, he eventually created Things Fall Apart, a story that depicts african imperialism in the 1800s and 1900s and captures the rapid changes that occurred in african culture during that time. . Living in Lagos, Achebe witnessed the issues with development from old to new cultures in African communities. Europeans envisioned africans as uncivilized and most were not enlightened of the post colonial conditions and freedom in Africa. These factors prompted Achebe to inform the world about Africa s real identity and establish a new voice in African literature. The viewpoint of Achebe was biased to some extent when writing this novel, as someone who came from africa and had a goal of restoring his country s cultural dignity, but it also provided a unique point of view and a story produced from real life experiences. There were many cases like these that inevitably made the problem of not knowing how to find longitude into an all out panic to solve it. Shipwreck after shipwreck, it became hard to ignore the issue at hand, so Parliament took action. In 1714, after countless merchants and seamen demanded help to find a solution Queen Anne put into action the Longitude Act, which was accompanied by three sets of money prizes. The first prize was in the amount of £20,000 and you had to come close to at least a half of a degree of a great circle. The second prize was in the amount of £15,000 and you had to be in two thirds of a degree, and finally, the third prize was £10,000 and that had to be within one degree. Along with the Longitude Act in order to figure out if methods that were proposed and explained were accurate, they created a Board of Longitude. The Board of Longitude was made up of many people like scientists, naval officers, and government officials but there were also ex officio members on the board as well. The board was given the ability to give out funds and grants to help competitors further their discoveries and help better them in order to discover a method of finding longitude. Close Reading Anylsis Jocelyn Dill Professor Samuels English 102 05 23 October 2012 Close Reading Analysis: The Gilded Six Bits In Zora Neale Hurston s short story The Gilded Six Bits, there are many aspects that can be analyzed. However, I found it interesting that the act of objectification is reoccurring in this story from beginning to end. Objectification means to make a person or thing into an object rather than a human being or what it is. The character, Otis D. Slemmons, plays a very pivotal part in this story. His perception of wealth also plays an important role since the whole turning point of the storyline happens because of it. Mister Slemmon s wealth and possessions cause everyone to be drawn to him. In fact the yellow coin in his trousers was like a monster hiding in the cave of his pockets to destroy her (Hurston 288). Not only is Missie May treated like a prostitute by Slemmons, but after months of taunting, and no affection, Joe begins to treat her that way as well. But the next day as she joyfully made up their bed, beneath her pillow she found the piece of money with the bit of chain attached (Hurston 288). Then another thought came clawing at her. He had come to buy from her as if she were any woman in the long house. Fifty cents for her love. As if to say he could pay as well as Slemmons (Hurston 288). The gold coin is the main thing that this story is built around. However, it takes on different meanings throughout the story. In the beginning, it is a symbol of wealth for Slemmons. Joe is very envious of Slemmons because he has been given gifts and a lot of money by women, and never had to work for it. • 12. Thomas Hobbe s Philosophical Political Piece Thomas Hobbe s philosophical political piece The Leviathan argues that society functions most effectively if all state and commonwealth is delegated by an all powerful sovereign, and that without it we are in a state of chaos, otherwise titled by Hobbes as the state of nature (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p. 181). I will argue that it is not possible to acknowledge what life is like in the state of nature without fully acknowledging that life in the state of nature leads to an all powerful sovereign that ultimately leads to the benefit of the people due to humanity s innate fear of death and desire for civilization. To elaborate, in humanity s most primal state of being, stripped away from all states of authority and government, civilization is in a state of aggressive disarray that is nasty, brutish, and short (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p. 181). Without the Leviathan, we as humans are primal, aggressive, chaotic, and uncivilized. As a result of this innate reaction of pandemonium in absence of an appointed authority, in order to function effectively as members of society we run into the arms of an all powerful sovereign, which cannot be challenged and therefore has limitless power (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p. 180, p. 181). It is important to note the Hobbes Leviathan assumes that humans have a biological yearn to be civilized, and a biological yearn to fear death, being the two drives we have to seek civilized refuge in the all powerful sovereign. Therefore, given the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First published in the 1970 s this remains a useful concept as it differentiates between the unavoidable irreversible primary injury and the potentially avoidable secondary one (Adams 1977). Primary brain injury occurs immediately at the time of injury, whereas secondary injury is a cascade of events that contributes to intracranial hypertension resulting in a reduction in cerebral perfusion pressure and ischaemia (Marmarou 1991). The cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is determined by the Monro Kellie hypothesis. In closed head injuries, the skull has a fixed volume and the pressure within it is determined by the equilibrium between the CPP, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and the intracranial pressure (ICP) using the equation: CPP = MAP − ICP Therefore, assuming a constant blood pressure, as ICP rises CPP must fall. Minimising the ICP, should minimise ischaemia and brain damage resulting from localised pressure thus leading to a global increase in perfusion and therefore oxygen delivery to the brain. There is class I evidence that cooling to a mild hypothermic state of ≤35oC reduces intracranial hypertension by limiting cerebral oedema. In addition it is thought that moderate hypothermia of 33oC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Persuasive Speech On Babysitting Many teenagers turn toward babysitting as a means of earning money. However, the first time a person babysits can be nerve wracking. Children are unimaginably important to their parents. It takes a lot of trust for a parent to put his or her child in the care and protection of a babysitter. This puts an immense amount of pressure on a babysitter to be perfect. Despite all the stress babysitting can bring, it is easy if you follow four simple rules. When first arriving at the house, it is important to ask for all the necessary contact and emergency information, so that if anything bad happened, you would know who to call and what to do. Because an emergency is a high stress situation, you could easily forget the emergency information. It is helpful to write down the information as you receive it and putting it somewhere that is readily available. This eliminates the possibility of forgetting the information and ensures that you can handle an emergency quickly and effectively. Along with emergency and contact information, ask about the child s typical schedule when they eat meals, if and/or when they take a nap, and other basic rules the parent has. Do your best to stick to these schedules, but do not force the schedule on the child. Sometimes kids get tired sooner than naptime or are not hungry at dinnertime. This is completely okay. Do not be afraid to upset the parent by not following the schedule strictly. Generally, children are unpredictable and schedules are only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Separation Anxiety And Its Effects On Children Separation anxiety is very common as children grow and develop. They may fear those few moments during daycare drop off or that initial first meeting with a new babysitter. These children will often times grow out of this anxiety after they become familiar with their surroundings and caregivers. But, if they continue having these separation anxiety induced outbursts, even after they have been with a trusted caregiver for a time, parents and primary caregivers often worry about the well being of their child and their child s development. They may believe that their child has acquired a Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD). I selected this topic because I work with multiple toddlers in a center and their parents have expressed some minor worry towards whether or not their child suffers with SAD or if this anxiety is causing them delays. I would love to be able to know some minor details about this broad topic and refer them to the website and articles that I found helpful when writing this report. This topic is important because it is has many symptoms that are similar to regular and developmentally appropriate separation anxiety. When a child suffers from SAD, it is something that needs attention by a pediatric professional in order for it not to affect the child later in life. With God s first two questions to humanity, Where are you? and Where is your brother? I answered by saying that I do not know. Right now, I am at a time where I feel lost and need some guidance. I grew up in a Catholic household, but I never paid attention during mass. I believed that my background was going to help me but saying that I am a catholic does not mean the same as being a catholic. Ever since then I never started to build my spiritual trellis that is going to help me grow and connect with God. Once I went through some of the spiritual practices, it has helped me understand and look at things in a different perspective. I began to build my spiritual trellis around margins, non judging, blessing others, and encouraging others. I have not been doing the practices from my Rule of Life, but I plan to use these practices hopefully every day for the rest of my life. By doing this I would expect myself to have grown and reach the gates to the kingdom. Gender, Age, And Ethnicity The Relationship of Gender, Age, and Ethnicity in the Dying Process Taylor Livingston Denver School of Nursing Abstract The relationships of gender, age, and ethnicity can all impact how a person will react and cope with the death of a loved one. Gender is impactful in the way that women are expected to much more emotional and dramatic in their response to death, where men expected to remain stoic and unaffected by a death as to not show weakness to those they are to protect. In children and adolescents its important to acknowledge age but also assess developmental level. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gender Gender can hold a strong influence in how an individual survives the death of a loved one. The general differences between males and females and the management of the grief process carries through from one culture to another. Most adults manage grief in the same way with the exception of parents losing a child. When parents loose a child they often experience the same emotions but they may not always be showing it in the same way (Christiansen 2014). Girls employed significantly more strategies to cope with stress compared to boys. (Kauser Munir 2004). One study that was referenced in the book Understanding Dying, Death, and Bereavement, women had greater tendencies to self mutilation and crying, while men would tend to direct aggression and anger away from themselves (Leming Dickinson 2016). During a traditional African funeral, the women would cry and moan, while the men would dance and sing, men are not to cry in front of women because they would appear weak before the very group they are supposed to protect (Leming Dickinson 2016). This way of thinking has the greatest influence on the way men grieve across many cultures and societies. One can wonder if that way of thinking hadn t been implemented then perhaps men and women would grieve more similarly. Another study mentioned in the book Understanding Dying, ... Gardner vs Traditional Teaching Methods Mr. Gardner expresses the theory that students should first learn how to understand a few important subjects and be able to decipher unique situations rather than just memorize facts for standardized tests. He builds his argument eloquently using mainly logos and ethos as his persuasive methods. He uses logos by making the reader think logically and digest not only his opinion, but the opinion of other experts. As for ethos, Mr. Gardner impresses upon the reader that he has a wealth of knowledge and an extensive background in the subject of education. Professor Gardner presents logos by quoting psychologists and educators, usage of historical analysis, and real world examples. This forces the reader to think about their own experiences and how they were taught and what teaching style would be best for their own children or themselves. He believes that students should learn to appreciate multiple perspectives about a subject and rid themselves of their simplistic misconceptions (Gardner 634). The bottleneck of the system is the gap between compute node and I/O which continues to widen up with increasing storage. Theoretically speaking then, how can something be better if it is just a different a different shell of the same object? It cannot be, therefore mankind is not growing but simply repeating the same cycle over and over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
