What Is The Significance Of The Swan Lake Essay

Assignment
The audience watches in awe as the swan battles with herself, fighting death, with such elegance and
poise as she flaps her wings and bourées, quick and tiny steps en pointe, across stage so quick and
light that it feels as though she is gliding. The ballerina s birdlike movements paired with Tchaikovsky
s masterpiece in Swan Lake is easily one of the most famous ballets created but was it always that
way? In fact, when first performed Swan Lake was unsuccessful and called uninspiring and unoriginal
(Thought.co). This came as a shock to me; how could such a highly regarded classical masterpiece
today be called uninspired? The ballet has come very far in its lifetime. It was ... Show more content

Since preforming as Odette/Odile, Legnani has become the standard that every dancer to come after
has been judged against. Nearly every ballerina dreams of taking the stage as Odette/Odile because of
the tremendous amount of talent and artistry required. That aspiration contributes to the prestige of the
piece causing Swan Lake to become the famous masterpiece we know today. The premier of the
newly renovated Swan Lake on January 15, 1895 is considered a historical date in ballet (Korobkov)
and the score marks a turning point not just in [Tchaikovsky s] own creative development but the
evolution of ballet music as a musical genre (Francis). This is the first time a Russian ballet illustrated
the shift between different cultural eras and artistic styles. Prior to Swan Lake, ballet was thought of as
irrelevant in a revolutionary society that is Russia. After the revolution in 1917, Russian government
wanted to sweep the slate clean of everything that went back to the aristocracy ...ballet got a pass in
the end because Vladimir Lenin understood the potential it had to transmit information to the largely
illiterate Russian masses (Schonbek).
Art had to present a positive view of communism and its future causing the ballet to be slowly
tweaked to align with socialist realist principles. The original ending for Swan Lake concluded with
the two lovers ending their lives but this was not an

Title: The relationship between the plant s exposure to environmental conditions and the time it takes
the chemicals to produce a reaction.
Research Question: How does exposure to environmental conditions degrade of the effectiveness of
chemicals to produce a reaction? (Hydrates/desiccants exposure)
Alternate Hypothesis 1: If the plant is exposed to high temperatures, then the plant will degrade the
effectiveness of chemicals to produce a reaction.
Alternate Hypothesis 2: If the plant is exposed to high amounts of humidity, then the plant will

The humidifier is going to be provided by one of our team mates who has it at home. Lastly, we just
need the chemical of copper sulfate pentahydrate. As of now, we are unsure of whether the school has
this chemical, but if we were to purchase the hydrate from other sources, the estimated value of cost is
around twenty dollars. Our team is able to split this money and purchase the needed hydrate if
necessary. This is also a safe procedure since the copper sulfate pentahydrate is acutely toxic and can
only harm a human if it is ingested. It may also cause some skin irritation, however as long as we don
t get it into our eyes or ingest it, it is considered a safe hydrate. As for disposal, it must be transferred
to a disposal or recovery container and not into open water or sewage system. This hydrate is not
hazardous to keep in the house, we just need to make sure that it is kept in a container and in cool and
compatible areas. The hydrate is also not too expensive and we can split the cost of twenty dollars that
makes each member paying only $6.66, which makes it a good testing

What Can Stop Kids From Dropping Out By David L. Kirp
David L. Kirp, a professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley, wrote a New
York Times article in April 2016 regarding one of America s leading problems. The purpose of this
final essay is to summarize the article, critique it, analyze the article using the definition of successful
intelligence as the analytical tool, and finally conclude by answering the so what question. Kirp s
article entitled, What Can Stop Kids from Dropping Out, begins by citing some startling statistics; the
number of college dropouts is severely damaging our economic system. According to the article, and
an American Institute for Research, $4.5 billion is being lost in earnings and taxes nationwide due to
this issue. The article goes on to explain how this is not just a problem, but how it is a scandal.
Colleges are blaming high schools for the number of students whom arrive at college and quickly drop
out. Kirp explains that it isn t the high school s fault. Colleges don t provide enough academic
feedback, financial assistance, or personalized attention for their students. Georgia State is looking to
solve the issue at their own school. They have taken steps to reach out to students as soon as they start
to lose interest in their studies. They hire upperclassmen as tutors; they know that students are more
likely to go to their peers for help rather than professors. Georgia State provides small grants for
students who need the extra few hundred dollars

Summary Of Art Spiegelman s Maus
The book Maus, a graphic novel by Vladek Spiegelman s son, Art Spiegelman is written in the form of
a graphic novel. It elaborates on Vladek s adolescent experiences as a young jew during the Holocaust.
On a surface level, the photographs in Maus contributed to my understanding of the story by giving
Vladek s words a visual. The images tell the story in a direct way by expressing the emotions of his
father as the comic strips transition from the past to present. The format of this story certainly takes
some risks. To some audiences, this format could come off as a joke, as though Spiegelman wasn t
taking his father s story seriously. With a graphic novel usually used to depict fictionally, sci fi like
stories, the audience might think that Art is treating his father s experiences as if they were part of a

This story could possibly be negatively associated with a mocking tone. To some audiences, the way
that Spiegelman depicted the victims as mice and the Germans as cats, could come off as though
Spiegelman was mocking the victims with this prey and predator metaphor. The interviewer
challenges Spiegelman by asking the questions about the aspects of his book that make it the most
controversial. For example, Bolhafner says Harvey Pekar has commented that he feels you shouldn t
have used mice for any of it. He thinks it would have had more impact if you had used people, and is
critical of your using pigs for the Poles (Spiegelman, Art. Art for Art s Sake: Spiegelman Speaks on

them both. Some people find S. Curry better by things he s done, but for L. James most don t have as

Curry weighs 190 lbs, he s 6,3 and plays the Point guard position, a little different than LeBron. He
has beat Russell Westbrook in a skillz test bye a whole ten seconds. One of his most shocking records
is that he s made 12 threes in a single game, which is the NBA record. Plus Steph has broken his own
record and made 270 threes in a single season. Then he thought that he could do better and changed
that to 407, which is more than what the whole Suns team made in 1997! At the moment Steph only
has one championship ring that he won in 2015, but he still has many more years for him to play in the
NBA. Briefly both Stephen Curry and LeBron James are undefeatable players in the NBA . By the

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Question: In what ways did Jews resist Nazi oppression during the Holocaust?
Goodmorning today i am going to talking about the Jewish resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto.
During 1941 to 1945 Jewish men, women and children were specifically targeted and murdered. Adolf
Hitler believed that the Jews were inferior, he wanted them to be killed until extinction. This was the
beginning of the holocaust.
Jews were forced out of there homes and were segregated into small areas called Ghettos. This was
just one step closer to the final solution. The Ghettos were purposely made to dehumanize Jews and
make them believe that they were inferior to the German population. The Jews had to live in horrible
conditions such as lack of food, no sewage, no sanitation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The largest uprising that occurred was in the warsaw ghetto in occupied poland. On the 22nd of July
1942, thousands of Jews were being deported from the Warsaw Ghetto and sent to extermination
camps. This is what led to the uprising.
January 18, 1943, a group of Jews attacked German soldiers who were rounding up people for
deportation. This attacked encouraged many of the Jewish people living in Warsaw Ghetto to start an
uprising.
The jews created homemade explosives and weapons. They also built bunkers underneath the Ghetto
to help them plan their attacks as well as store their weapons. In april 1943, the Jewish people learnt of
new information about how the soldiers were sending everyone left in the warsaw Ghetto to death
camps. After hearing this, the largest resistance group in the Ghetto, the jewish fighting organisation,
alerted all Jews to hid in the bunkers. On April 19, German soldiers marched in the Ghetto with tanks
to gather up all the Jews that were left and to deport them. At 4 am, the resistance began by setting fire
to the tanks with homemade explosives. There was 750 Jewish men and woman fighting against the
heavily armed German SS soldiers. The Jews managed to hold the Soldiers back for a

In The Home Scratch By Robert Frost Summary
Robert Frost s poem, In the Home Stretch, depicts a couple moving out of an urban community and
into a rural one. As workers roam about their new home, organizing the newfound space with their
chaotic presence, the pair compares their new home to their former life in the city. Frost includes
figurative language, shift, and tone within their conversation, as well as throughout the entirety of the
poem, to highlight various thematic concepts. Such concepts include the idea that peace and happiness
can derive from a simplistic lifestyle, as well as the idea that comfort is found within certainty and
dependability of one s surroundings. Personification plays a large role in highlighting the underlying
themes of the poem. As Joe and his un named lady move into their new country side home, the nature
surrounding them influences their conversation. While the men tread loudly throughout their house,
the lady states, You and I, dear, will go with softer steps / Up and down stairs and through rooms, and
none / But sudden winds that snatch them from our hands / Will ever slam the doors. By depicting the
wind with these harshly human like characteristics, Frost is able to generate a comparison between the
wind s actions and those of the individuals living inside the house. Readers are inclined to assume that
unlike the wind, which is fierce and demanding, the couple intends to maintain a peaceful presence
within their home and with each other. Frost is persistent in his emphasis on nature, a recurring aspect
visible throughout all of his poetry, and includes a personification of the moon as well. The new
moon! / What shoulder did I see her over? Neither. / A wire she is of silver, as new as we / To
everything. Her light won t last us long. / It s something, though, to know we re going to have her /
Night after night and stronger every night / To see us through our first two weeks. Frost refers to the
moon as a she, empowering it with a human like presence. While the character s locations may be
changing, the moon remains where it has always been, and will continue to do so. The characters find
solace in this, and are comforted by the reliability and consistency of the moon s company. A major
shift occurs

There is no culture in the history of mankind that did not ever use some kind (kinds) of drugs. Despite
the well known consequences of drug addiction, millions of people constantly consume different legal
and illegal drugs. Affecting people s mind and changing their behavior, drugs become one of the most
threatening factors of social risk, resulting in increasing rates of mortality, aggressive and criminal
behavior, and dissolution of social ties. This paper is devoted to comparison of social science outcome

They also identify a latent function that is associated with making a drug legal or illegal. To make a
drug illegal is to strengthen the agencies that have been established to control them. The moral
entrepreneur has a lot of power and money to make drugs legal or illegal, whatever is in their best
interest. Conflict theorist emphasize how drugs are used as a political tool. They decide whether a
drug is criminalized or not. The conflict theorists used the laws against the Chinese immigrants in the
1800 s.
Continuous use of a certain drug results in the need to consume higher doses in order to achieve the
same effect and by negative and painfully felt effects of sudden withdrawal of the drug. The drug not
only acts as a reinforcer, but sets the stage for the development of the motivation to obtain the drug.
(Timmons Hamilton). When this motivation develops, it becomes ...the major focus of a person s life

mentally, or socially... (Engs). This stage of drug abuse is known as addiction. Addicts become
obsessed of the object, seeking it they get engaged in harmful behavior, which draws them away from
family, friends, and studying. Substance abuse compromises psychological and social development
and corrupts the processes of formation of a strong self identity, emotional and intellectual growth,

Market Segments Based On Region For Cowsmoo Milk Bar Essay
There are three possible market segments based on region for Cowsmoo Milk Bar. The first segment
consists of those residing in rural areas. This market segment would not be ideal for our organization.
Rural regions have a low population, and the majority of people who live in rural areas are more likely
to be indifferent about the benefits that our company offers. This indifference may be caused from
their isolated, secluded location, and their lack of a pressing need to keep up with a modern lifestyle.
Therefore we feel that rural locations wouldn t result in as much business for our establishment as
other possible locations. Another regional market segment to consider is suburban areas. On one hand,
suburban locations would be feasible for our business because customers in these locations are mostly
families. Young families will benefit from our product because it presents them with a healthier
alternative to taking their kids out for traditional ice cream. On the other hand, suburban locations
wouldn t benefit Cowsmoo Milk Bar as much as our next option because our goal is to get people in
and out quickly so we can sell a large volume of products. That suburban locations are not heavily
populated will make this company goal more difficult to reach. Lastly, there are urban locations.
Urban locations are the best market segment for our organization because they contain many people
who keep up with trends and are health conscious. Choosing our location came down to two

Political Pipeline
Americans have demanded rights from the government for 200 years and also demanded that they are
not infringed upon. This is a reasonable claim, but when it comes to Native Americans, they are not
given their due. The biggest insult to their rights is that of the environmentally dangerous, falsely
advertised, and political money making Keystone XL Pipeline. This political pipeline project should
be abandoned due to the obvious environmental hazards, its political motivation, and the infringement

The pipeline route has caused some Native American leaders to be come aggravated at the proposition
of its placement. Even if the pipeline would not cross their property, tribal leaders say, it would pose a
threat to drinking water and to ancestral homelands on the rolling plains and hilly riverbeds where
they still hold treaty claims (Thune, John, and Anna Eshoo). It is ridiculous for TransCanada and the
supporters of the Keystone Pipeline to propose this route with the knowledge of where the Natives are.
This is an intentional insult, one they should not get away with. With an already unstable relationship,
why would these polluters think it would be wise to antagonize them. This project already had many
issues following it, but so strong is their opposition that members have maintained a spirit camp on
tribal property near the planned route. Despite the camp s rustic accommodations a tent, a trailer and

Children Of God Through Faith
Beginning in 3:26, the NIV and NRSV translates, for you are all children of God through faith in
Christ Jesus. Here the word children translates in the Greek, téknon which means a child, descendant,
inhabitant. Téknon properly, a child; (figuratively) anyone living in full dependence on the heavenly
Father, i.e. fully (willingly) relying upon the Lord in glad submission. This prompts God to transform
them into His likeness. The NKJV translates, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
This word son translates in the Greek, hyiós. It emphasizes likeness of the believer to the heavenly
Father, i.e. resembling His character more and more by living in faith. The choice of the word son may
be in part because during biblical times a son was considered the inheritor of land, property, and
family wealth. Daughters were not typically ones to inherit anything. Further, each of the three
translations uses the word all . The word all in the Greek translates, pas . Pás ( each, every ) means all
in the sense of each (every) part that applies. The emphasis of the total picture then is on one piece at a
time. By all it is not excluding anyone or singling out one group of people (as described in 3:28).

The Role Of Myrtle Wilson In The Great Gatsby
In the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the American Dream is an important motif.
Almost all the characters dreams are mentioned and almost all of their dreams are not fulfilled, but
one particular character s attempt to achieve this dream leads to their morbid downfall. Myrtle Wilson
s American Dream is to marry the aristocratic Tom Buchanan, but we see that she does not achieve
this dream by annoying Tom, and then dying at the end of the novel. First, by annoying Tom and
therefor being insubordinate, Myrtle does not achieve her dream. The novel states, Sometime forwards

whether Mrs. Wilson had any right to mention Daisy s name (Fitzgerald 37). This is an example from
the novel where we see Myrtle arguing with Tom and being insubordinate. She had recently

John K, Thornton s African Dimension Of The Stono Rebellion
On September 9, 1739, the Stono Rebellion took place in the colony of South Carolina. The slaves,
lead by an Angolan named Jemmy, stunned the plantation owners in their revolt against their
oppressive lifestyle. Their goal was to march all the way to Spanish Florida, but they were eventually
stopped by the militia. In total, about 60 white civilians were killed and many more slaves experienced
the same fate. This was such a significant uprising, not only because of the lack of information we
have about rebellions in general, but because it showed that slaves had the ability to revolt against the
harsh lifestyle that was forced upon them. While most historians can agree that this was one of the
most influential revolts, the best way to interpret this event is still debated. Some historians, like
William Stephen, hone in on the aspect of competition in his piece Spanish Designs and Slave
Resistance . While other look at specific factors. For example, John K, Thornton sees that the best way
to view the Stono Rebellion is to look at the African background of slaves in his essay, African
Dimension of the Stono Rebellion . Edward A Pearson, for example, asserts gender is the way to
comprehend this revolt in his essay Rebelling As Men . All of these historians address important
factors of the Stono Rebellion, however in order to best understand the Stono Rebellion one must
consider both gender and African background and how it increased competition between the English

Internal Validity And External Validity
Module 3 Assignment
Internal Validity
Internal Validity is the inexact truth about derivations with respect to cause impact or causal
connections. Along these lines, internal validity is just pertinent in studies that attempt to make a
causal relationship. It s not significant in most observational or descriptive studies. One of the things
that is most hard to handle about internal validity is that it is just important to the particular study
being referred to. That is, you can consider internal validity as a zero generalizability concern. All that
internal validity means is that you have confirmed that what you did in the study created what you
wanted to happen. It doesn t let you know whether what you accomplished for the study was what you
needed to do or whether what you happened was what you needed to happen.
Research Scenario: A researcher conducted a study to determine if projecting visual illustrations onto
a screen during science class would enhance students understanding of scientific principles. The
researcher chose two classes for the study: a biology class and a chemistry class. He told one class that
they would get to see color illustrations projected onto a screen. He told the other class that they
would be the control group so they would not get the illustrations. Since the chemistry classroom
already was technologically equipped, the researcher chose the chemistry class as the one that would
see the illustrations. At the end of the semester the

Water Trading Papers
Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has occurred,
as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious as to how it
got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible to pipe water
across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over the country. In
areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural water supply, it is
necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference. Water trading at its core
is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in exchange for another. This paper
will examine how water trading occurs between states and ultimately how water gets from where it is
to where it is needed.
The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to
maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without the
natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it to where
it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to ensure
access to water.
In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water,
which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could promote
more efficient water usage because a

The Mtbi Test, By Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter...
Abstract The MTBI questionnaire, first published in 1943, was originally developed in the United
States by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers(The History of the MTBI
assessment, 2015). Through Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and his theories about psychological types
motivated Myers Briggs to create the MTBI test. Through interpretation the MTBI test acts as a
guideline in determining a subject s perception of the world and psychological preferences. In this
paper the author will explain their own results from the MTBI test and go into greater detail whether
or not it accurately depicts their personality. This author will not only describe their personality type
but show the strengths and weakness of this particular personality. This author will also explain how
employers look at the MTBI test as a valuable tool in selecting great employees. Introduction Trait
theory is defined as The measurement of consistent patterns of habit in an individual s behavior,
thoughts, and emotions. The theory is based on the stability of traits over time, how they differ from
other individuals, and how they will influence human behavior (Trait Theory, 2015). Traits can be
considered as what makes a person who they are. Think of how a person would describe a person. For
example, this author describes their mother as loving, caring, and dependable, all these words would
be considered as a person s trait. Everybody in the world have a different

Positioning of Wireless Body Area Network
The development of WBAN technology started around 1995 around the idea of using wire less
personal area network (WPAN) technologies to implement communications on, near, and around the
human body. A WBAN system can use WPAN wireless technologies as gateways to reach longer
ranges. Through gateway devices, it is possible to connect the wearable devices on the human body to

Perception Vs. Reality By John Green
Paper Towns: Perception vs. Reality The book Paper Towns by John Green is a story about going past
the imagination to actually know somebody. Quentin, who is convinced he is in love with the wild and
adventurous Margo, goes on a journey to find her when she ran away. Through this journey, he finds a
new Margo, the real Margo. Instead of imagining the Margo of his dreams, who is perfect and daring,
he sees a different side, like looking through a fun house mirror. Using the theme of perceptions vs.
reality, John Green shows readers through Quentin that you have to dig deeper in order to know and
understand someone.

At first, Quentin has trouble seeing Margo past her outer beauty and can t think of her as just a normal

cheating with her best friend. Quentin wonders why he would cheat and Margo thinks it is because her
friend is more attractive than her. Quentin basically says that Margo is so much more attractive. Margo
responds to this by saying, That always seemed so ridiculous to me, that people would want to be

Religious Freedom And Separation Of Church And State Essay
After many frustrations and disputes arising out of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the termination of
Bill Establishing A Provision for Teachers of Christian Religion and the new Virginia Statue for
Religious Freedom mark a necessary and significant turn. The people of Virginia can finally savor the
religious freedom that they longed for. I shall hereby applaud the efforts pushed forth by the honorable
James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and so many others who shared the common stance on religious
freedom and separation of church and state. However, the achievement seemed provincial when
placed in the context of the larger United States. The new nation is at great stake because the
congregational church in Massachusetts disallows and persecutes any deviation from its core religious
interpretation; Jews are perceived as the enemies of the Christ by a large group of people; and the
Catholic minority in many states still suffers. Therefore, absolute religious freedom and the separation
of church and state shall be guaranteed in the new constitution in order to maintain the supremacy of
God over the state and purity of the God we trust, annihilate the violence, persecution and tyrannies
the God disdains, uphold the God given natural rights we once fought for and construct this blessed
new nation to be free and prosperous.
God is the divine creator of the universe whereas civil laws are the derivative of humankind. In other
words, Christian Religion pre existed any form of state or

The Mpaa Rating System Of America
The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of
America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies
(MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate
for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of
appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the
original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code
Administration) (Rocchi). Not all systems are perfect, which is why this one was revised and
eventually turned into the more recent MPAA rating system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13
movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed
the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that
everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different
parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently
depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a
little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow
their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child
from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels
about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The
different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of
kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different
ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real
while older children are more mature and

John Steinbeck s use of imagery shows the use of confinement by relating Elisa to the

Elisa leaves her garden in the wire fence she loses all her strengths and confidence. The theme uses

Abstract:
The essay examines evolution of popular music, experiences and how the public understood it
between 1918 and 1939. During this period, a national culture dance was developed in England.
Evolution process was marked with transformation of popular dance forms, affordable and easily
dances places and a national wide dancing practice. Evolvement of a dance culture was instrumental
in creation of a national identity. People understood what it meant to be British. There was an English
style of ballroom dancing, thematic content such as the popular Lambeth walk. To reduce American
influence on English music, British ballroom dancers tried to create British music free of American
influence. Through adaptation of different dancing styles, they presented what they believed to be the
real British identity. Introduction: In the words of Victor Sylvester, ballroom dancing was an activity
which could not be cut off or separated from the world; it was an activity which was influenced by
surrounding occurrences. Change in occasions such as fashion, war music and social upheavals all
played an important role in influencing the dancing scene. He observed that external forces influenced
performance as well as evolution of dancing (Sylvester, 1927). Rather than concentrating how dancing
was influenced by occurrences such as war or change of fashion, this essay

Rational And Rational Choice Theory
Rational choice theory posits that any individual makes behavioral choices because they logically
consider any potentially criminal situation, weigh the possible benefits versus the possible costs, and
make a decision to act based on whether or not the benefits outweigh the risks. Rational choice theory
differs from other philosophies in that it denies the existence of any kinds of action other than the
purely rational and calculative. All social action, it is argued, can be seen as rationally motivated, as
instrumental action, however much it may appear to be irrational or non rational (Scott, 2000).
Making rational choices means being motivated by personal wants, goals, and needs. It is not possible
for all wants and needs to be met or achieved; therefore, choices are made in order to bring the
greatest satisfaction and happiness to the individual. Individual does not always reference one human
being; rational choice theory is a main idea in economics, sociology, and many other social sciences.
An individual with regard to the theory can be a corporation, group, or other defined entity that
engages in decision making. The limitations of this theory have led researchers to develop many sub
theories. One sub theory of rational choice is routine activity theory, which posits that crime is not an
aberration of human society, but merely a common facet of culture that only requires opportunity. First
developed and published by Marcus Felson and Lawrence E. Cohen in 1979,

A criticism made by Adorno and Horkheimer that is still relevant to the modern movie industry is the
criticism that the people at the top are no longer so interested in concealing monopoly...Movies and
radio need no longer pretend to be art (Adorno and Horkheimer). The modern movie industry is an
industry of commodities in sense, what this means is that the movies produced today are produced
simply as means for profit and not as form of art. As Adorno and Horkheimer stated the movie makers
distrust any manuscript which is not reassuringly backed by a bestseller (Adorno and Horkheimer) this
attitude can be seen by simply observing the Avengers, Spider man and Transformers franchises.
These types of movies are given top priority at movie studios simply because they are movies with
large target audiences and the movie studios know that they will bring in mass amounts of profits.
These types of movies often lack substance of any kind for example take the Avengers franchise, the
movie itself has very little plot or characterization but it is still produced over and over again because
it is a source of revenue. This is an example of how new media technologies how what Adorno and

Health care is extremely important, but one form which is overlooked or often not talked about often
is sexual healthcare. Did you know these facts? Over 25 million people have died from AIDS since
1981. STDs often cause death, infertility, chronic pain, birth defects, amp; miscarriages. Everyday
12,000 American teens contract an STD. 1 in 5 Americans have genital herpes. 90% don t know it and
don t show signs. There are 750,000 teen pregnancies in the U.S. a year (2,000 a day). About 80% of
teen fathers don t stay with the mom. Every 45 seconds someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
How can we prevent these numbers and statistics? We can with Planned Parenthood.

If a woman is pregnant and she has an untreated STD such as hepatitis B, herpes, and syphilis, it could
also potentially spread to the fetus, potentially leading to premature birth, stillbirth, and birth defects.
Because Planned Parenthood is so affordable, many people depend on it as a reproductive health
clinic. In fact, about one half of the organization s patient s use doctors at Planned Parenthood as their
primary physicians, because they would be unable to afford anything else. Planned Parenthood also
provides accurate sexual education, and they speak about all forms of birth control, including
abstinence, and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. 26 states require abstinence only
education, and some argue that by not providing other information about sexual health, this increases
the chance of unintended pregnancy. In fact, the two states with the highest rates of teen pregnancy are
Mississippi and New Mexico. Mississippi does not require sex education, but when it is taught, it is
restricted to be abstinence only, and New Mexico has no requirements at all about what should be
included in sex education. By providing sexual education that encompasses all forms of birth control
and STD prevention, including abstinence, Planned Parenthood reduces the risk of unplanned
pregnancy and protects the health of women and men alike. Overall, Planned Parenthood

London s Delusive Visionary, Banksy
London s delusive visionary, Banksy has made waves of controversy. His artwork started in London
and have made their way to Los Angeles, Syria, and Brooklyn but he is known all over the world for
mocking our society and people seem to be drawn to it, including myself. Even though graffiti is not
known for making an impact to society, Street art can reflect a feeling because all art has some
meaning and the artist has a reason for painting it for the public to see.
The British graffiti artist started off as a freehand graffiti artist, one of three his his crew in the 1990 s.
Banksy later on was influenced by Inky, Nicky Walker, and 3D who were other graffiti artists native to
Bristol, his canvas city. Angelina Jolie and Christina Aguilera are just some of the celebrities who
have found purpose to his work and own some of his artwork. through action
Street art, Graffiti, Urban, and Guerrilla arts are all a part of the visual arts created for the public s
viewing. It took off in the early 1980 s with artist like René Moncada, John Fekner, and Shepard Fairy.
Materials used to preform this type of art are spray cans used with stencils for quick applications to
walls for the purpose of not getting under arrest for vandalism. The genre was popularized in New
York city, and soon was popping up in many other major cities all around the world. Some of Houston

Professor Joseph Neptune January 19, 2014 Self Reflection of Leadership Styles Life Styles Inventory
(LSI) is a survey that measures 12 specific styles of patterns of thinking that can either help or hinder
a person from reaching his or her potential (Human Synergistics). Human behavior is a perplex issue

I definitely value my relationships with other people, often time I go above and beyond to improve
and maintain relationships, and to ultimately cultivate win win relationships personally and

atmosphere no matter the situation. My back up style is Achievement and the site describes that I
derive satisfaction from setting and being guided by your own goals, and may have a tendency to
impose these goals on others, unthinkingly and without malice. To encourage achievement oriented
thinking, it is more effective to help others discover for themselves, as you have, the power of
personal goal setting (Human Synergistics). I am driven by results and goal orientated, I believe that I
should always strive for better, this is the exact reason that I am currently pursuing my Master s

in life. My limiting style of thinking was identified as Avoidance and I scored in the low range, the site

Individuation In George Orwell s Demian
Pythagoras of Samos, a Greek philosopher, author, and mathematician, once said, No one is free who
has not obtained the empire of himself. No man is free who cannot command himself (Riedweg,
n.pag). When Pythagoras says that no person is free who has not obtained the empire of himself, he
means that no one is free from his unconscious until he uncovers it and accepts himself. By
uncovering one s unconscious, he can freely make good decisions and be responsible for himself.
When uncovering his unconscious, he acknowledges every part of himself, including the good and the
bad. In the novel, Demian, the protagonist and narrator, Emil Sinclair, uncovers his unconscious
through the process of individuation. The process of individuation includes the steps to uncover one s
unconscious and the will to accept every part of him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

family of the high middle class. I have a father, a brother, and a recently deceased mother. I attended a

Putting a 21st Century Twist on the Past
In this essay I will argue that my practice is contemporary by showing 21st century influences. I will
do this by discussion of themes and practices of other artists that I am interested in, evaluating the
issues they address. In particular Francis Alys, George Shaw and Social Realism.
I first realised my interest in manual labour, menial jobs and cycle of working, when I was travelling,
and this influenced my work. Whilst visiting the Yves Saint Laurent gardens in Marrakech there was
an employee of the gardens sweeping the flower petals into his grasp, whilst more constantly fell. This
time consuming action initially interested me as absurd, however after further dwelling I considered
the action more of a metaphor for the idea of working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From taking the outsider role he was able to see situations differently than if he was part of them. I
feel the same within my practice; I am a keen observer of people and always find my most inspired
and passionate ideas originate from just watching a situation. In Placing Pillows Alys uses his role of
observer to his advantage. He can see the lack of repair and action after the 1985 Mexico City
earthquake. He reacts to by placing pillows within the broken windows. He is able to use such a
simple thing that becomes such a strong and political statement.
In the world today we are subjected to roles and expectations, we are all expected to mature and earn a
living, when this doesn t happen it is frowned upon. For example not having a career or a consistent
income is thought to be out of the ordinary almost not conforming lesser you as a person. An
enthusiast for symbols and allegories, Alyss casts the world in a lighthearted way where it is easy for
the audience to appreciate what is being said. Paradox of Praxis 1 (Sometimes Doing Something
Leads to Nothing) where he pushes a block of ice around Mexico City taking no steps to stop it from
melting to a pool of water pulls similarities to the myth of Sisyphus, a Greek mythological figure
punished for the rest of his life to push a bolder up a hill only for it to fall back down again

Examples Of Bilbo Transformation In The Hobbit
By: Rutherford Medley In the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins starts out peacefully relaxing outside his Hobbit
hole, happy being all alone with peace and quiet. Gandalf pays him a visit and puts a strange marking
on his door. Those markings said, Burglar wants a good job, plenty of Excitement and reasonable
reward. This is why the dwarves brought him on an adventure to find treasure and claim back the
Dwarves kingdom from the evil dragon Smaug. During the journey, Bilbo was shown as a soft and
humble character that turns into a character full of courage and adventure. In this essay, I will prove
that Bilbo has changed and developed into a brave and wise hobbit and at points he was also a trusted
leader. The first piece of evidence in the book is in the Chapter, Riddles in the Dark. In that chapter
Bilbo is lost in a cave and finds a ring that will later be shown as a ring of magic. But before he finds
out that it is magic, he finds Gollum who challenges Bilbo into a game of riddles, and if Gollum wins
he gets to eat Bilbo, but if Bilbo wins Gollum has to show him the way out. Bilbo who eventually
wins demands the way out of the cave. But, Gollum who takes the loss bitterly, goes back to his island
and tries to find his birthday present and kill Bilbo. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bilbo was able to escape cutting through the webs using his sword, and then uses his magic ring to
find the Dwarves without getting spotted, after he found the dwarves stuck in webs he cuts them down
with his sword. The Dwarves were then captured by Wood Elves. Bilbo follows them still wearing the
ring, he then finds out a way to get the Dwarves out and escape their Captors by getting in barrels and
float away on the river. This shows that Bilbo has shown more bravery and wisdom being able to save
the Dwarves from danger multiple times by

Environmental Issues Of Environmental Justice
Environmental justice is a term coined in the United States that usually deals with two different things.
One is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national
origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental
laws, regulations, and policies. The other is a mixed body of social science literature pertaining to
anything from environmental laws to political ecology. Primarily based around the concept of
injustices carried out by energy companies, environmental injustice is still a rampant problem in
todays wide variety of social justice issues. While the prior two meanings mentioned are the main
ones, some other definitions include equitable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are seen as environmental discrimination because the companies are placing possibly toxic
facilities in these specific areas where the residents do not often have the means to fight back against
them.
Due to the results of that study, waste dumps and waste incinerators have been the target of
environmental justice lawsuits and protests. Several of the most popular Environmental Justice
lawsuits are based off of violations of civil rights laws. The first instance to use civil rights as a way to
challenge the placement of a waste management facility was in 1979.
The Northeast Community Action Group, or NECAG, was created by African American residents in a
middle class neighborhood in order to keep a landfill out of their home town. This group is recognized
as the first organization that found the connection between race and pollution. The group, alongside
their attorney Linda McKeever Bullard started the lawsuit Bean v. Southwestern Waste Management,
Inc., which was the first of its kind to challenge the sitting of a waste facility under civil rights law.
The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was used many times to defend
minority rights during the 1960s, has also been used in numerous Environmental Justice cases.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is sometimes used in lawsuits that are fighting environmental
inequality. Section 601 prohibits

Analysis Of Edward Snowden s Information Leaks
In a society centered on an ever growing technological bloom, the standards for security have been
placed very high to protect citizens from cyber attacks and wrong doing. However, some of the steps
that have been taken pushed the limits to what is lawful. Very little reforms have been made even with
recent public awareness to the problem. The steps taken make the US government surveillance
programs contradict with the constitutional rights of the American people. This essay will address the
National Security Agency and its policies, Edward Snowden s information leaks, the views of the
opposition, and solutions to this lingering problem along with contributions. The primary American
government sector in charge of sorting through the massive amounts of data that pass through
technological means is the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA searches for threats to the
United States, whether that be foreign or domestic. Many US citizens did not know how data was
being sorted until a few whistle blowers, the most famous being former NSA analyst Edward
Snowden, began leaking classified information to the public. This revealed that the US government
was using a massive internet dragnet that filtered through everyone s information, along with the
tapping of phone calls and private messages, regardless of crimes being committed or not. They could
search through private messages, turn on unsuspecting users cameras while their computer is idle, and
listen through their phone

Compare And Contrast Duke University Vs Ohio State University
Duke University and The Ohio State University are two really unique colleges where I am thinking
about attending. These colleges both have what I am looking for in a University. Between these
colleges, I think that the decision will be extremely tough. I love both schools locations, students,
atmosphere, and competitiveness. These colleges have some similarities, but in many ways are
complete opposites. Looking at all of the unique characteristics of Duke and Ohio State, I believe that
this will be a tough choice.
When I think of Duke University one word comes to mind, elitism. The total enrollment for
undergraduates for this university is a little less than 7,000, which is a medium sized campus. This is
one factor that makes Duke extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my favorite things about this university is that it is incredibly involved in football. They also
have a spectacular medical school that I could attend after graduating. Ohio State is known for their
medical school and also has many connections from doctors worldwide. This university is also a lot
closer to home so it would be easier for me as well. The Ohio State University is about two hours
away, which is a perfect distance to experience the full college life while still having the option to
come home on the weekends. Ohio State is a lot cheaper than Duke as well. Their tuition is about
$25,000. Also on the subject of tuition, nearly forty five percent of students graduate with no debt. The
university is ranked sixteenth best public university in the nation and first in Ohio. Ohio State has an
average ACT score of 28, not too off from mine. The university also has a perfect student to teacher
ratio that is 19:1. OSU is number seven in studying abroad programs. This is another one of my
favorite things about this university because I love traveling. Like Duke, Ohio State has many clubs
and activities that students can get involved in. This may help when trying to make friends in such a

What Are The Reasons For The War Of 1812 Dbq
The war of 1812 appeared to be one of the most controversial wars in the history of the United States.
Among the reasons that are used to explain it one can identify Britain s disrespect of American rights,
the trade interference, and impressment of seamen. However, the cause of this war is still disputed.
One of the reasons for the war was the Washington administration s Embargo of 1794 when the
Congress declared a thirty day embargo on all ships and vessels in American ports (Volume 15). Thus,
the British lost a substantial amount of profit. Besides, the reasons for the war include, for example,
the wish of the Great Britain to use the Indian people as a means of gaining more territories which led
to the Shawnee tribe opposing the Americans

Disadvantages Of Occupational Information
An occupational information data base of occupational information help individuals identifies with
specific skills, tasks, and occupations that are available. Individuals have the opportunity to explore
employment opportunities that are suitable to the skills they possess. In addition, it inform individuals
of the necessary skills they may need to attain, improve for a specific job and notify the level of
education needed to seek employment. Advantages of the data base allows the individual to become
more actively involved in the career guidance process (Zunker, 2012, p.180). Individuals will have the
opportunity to seek more information, receive adequate feedback immediately, and can access the data
base anywhere at any given time. Also, it offer support to individuals when trying to decide on a
career. The data base serve as a tool for innovative learning delivery systems that should help workers
develop skills and increase and broaden general and industry specific knowledge (Zunker, 2012, p.
177). However there are some disadvantages in occupational information sources that can limit an
individual from becoming fully aware of their possible opportunities for future employment. This may
include but are not limited to both ethical or legal concerns about sufficient security measures and
individuals solely relying on the computer assisted career guidance system. The O NET, Monster, and
the Occupational Outlook Handbook are resources available to individuals that are

What Is The Significance Of The Swan Lake Essay Jenni Hanson Professor Course 12 September 2017 Assignment The audience watches in awe as the swan battles with herself, fighting death, with such elegance and poise as she flaps her wings and bourées, quick and tiny steps en pointe, across stage so quick and light that it feels as though she is gliding. The ballerina s birdlike movements paired with Tchaikovsky s masterpiece in Swan Lake is easily one of the most famous ballets created but was it always that way? In fact, when first performed Swan Lake was unsuccessful and called uninspiring and unoriginal (Thought.co). This came as a shock to me; how could such a highly regarded classical masterpiece today be called uninspired? The ballet has come very far in its lifetime. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since preforming as Odette/Odile, Legnani has become the standard that every dancer to come after has been judged against. Nearly every ballerina dreams of taking the stage as Odette/Odile because of the tremendous amount of talent and artistry required. That aspiration contributes to the prestige of the piece causing Swan Lake to become the famous masterpiece we know today. The premier of the newly renovated Swan Lake on January 15, 1895 is considered a historical date in ballet (Korobkov) and the score marks a turning point not just in [Tchaikovsky s] own creative development but the evolution of ballet music as a musical genre (Francis). This is the first time a Russian ballet illustrated the shift between different cultural eras and artistic styles. Prior to Swan Lake, ballet was thought of as irrelevant in a revolutionary society that is Russia. After the revolution in 1917, Russian government wanted to sweep the slate clean of everything that went back to the aristocracy ...ballet got a pass in the end because Vladimir Lenin understood the potential it had to transmit information to the largely illiterate Russian masses (Schonbek). Art had to present a positive view of communism and its future causing the ballet to be slowly tweaked to align with socialist realist principles. Our team is able to split this money and purchase the needed hydrate if necessary. This is also a safe procedure since the copper sulfate pentahydrate is acutely toxic and can only harm a human if it is ingested. It may also cause some skin irritation, however as long as we don t get it into our eyes or ingest it, it is considered a safe hydrate. As for disposal, it must be transferred to a disposal or recovery container and not into open water or sewage system. This hydrate is not hazardous to keep in the house, we just need to make sure that it is kept in a container and in cool and compatible areas. Kirp s article entitled, What Can Stop Kids from Dropping Out, begins by citing some startling statistics; the number of college dropouts is severely damaging our economic system. According to the article, and an American Institute for Research, $4.5 billion is being lost in earnings and taxes nationwide due to this issue. The article goes on to explain how this is not just a problem, but how it is a scandal. Colleges are blaming high schools for the number of students whom arrive at college and quickly drop out. Kirp explains that it isn t the high school s fault. Colleges don t provide enough academic feedback, financial assistance, or personalized attention for their students. Georgia State is looking to solve the issue at their own school. They have taken steps to reach out to students as soon as they start to lose interest in their studies. It elaborates on Vladek s adolescent experiences as a young jew during the Holocaust. On a surface level, the photographs in Maus contributed to my understanding of the story by giving Vladek s words a visual. The images tell the story in a direct way by expressing the emotions of his father as the comic strips transition from the past to present. The format of this story certainly takes some risks. To some audiences, this format could come off as a joke, as though Spiegelman wasn t taking his father s story seriously. • 10. In The Home Scratch By Robert Frost Summary Robert Frost s poem, In the Home Stretch, depicts a couple moving out of an urban community and into a rural one. As workers roam about their new home, organizing the newfound space with their chaotic presence, the pair compares their new home to their former life in the city. Frost includes figurative language, shift, and tone within their conversation, as well as throughout the entirety of the poem, to highlight various thematic concepts. Such concepts include the idea that peace and happiness can derive from a simplistic lifestyle, as well as the idea that comfort is found within certainty and dependability of one s surroundings. Personification plays a large role in highlighting the underlying themes of the poem. As Joe and his un named lady move into their new country side home, the nature surrounding them influences their conversation. While the men tread loudly throughout their house, the lady states, You and I, dear, will go with softer steps / Up and down stairs and through rooms, and none / But sudden winds that snatch them from our hands / Will ever slam the doors. By depicting the wind with these harshly human like characteristics, Frost is able to generate a comparison between the wind s actions and those of the individuals living inside the house. Readers are inclined to assume that unlike the wind, which is fierce and demanding, the couple intends to maintain a peaceful presence within their home and with each other. Frost is persistent in his emphasis on nature, a recurring aspect visible throughout all of his poetry, and includes a personification of the moon as well. The new moon! / What shoulder did I see her over? Neither. / A wire she is of silver, as new as we / To everything. Her light won t last us long. / It s something, though, to know we re going to have her / Night after night and stronger every night / To see us through our first two weeks. Frost refers to the moon as a she, empowering it with a human like presence. While the character s locations may be changing, the moon remains where it has always been, and will continue to do so. The characters find solace in this, and are comforted by the reliability and consistency of the moon s company. A major shift occurs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first segment consists of those residing in rural areas. This market segment would not be ideal for our organization. Rural regions have a low population, and the majority of people who live in rural areas are more likely to be indifferent about the benefits that our company offers. This indifference may be caused from their isolated, secluded location, and their lack of a pressing need to keep up with a modern lifestyle. Therefore we feel that rural locations wouldn t result in as much business for our establishment as other possible locations. Another regional market segment to consider is suburban areas. On one hand, suburban locations would be feasible for our business because customers in these locations are mostly families. Young families will benefit from our product because it presents them with a healthier alternative to taking their kids out for traditional ice cream. On the other hand, suburban locations wouldn t benefit Cowsmoo Milk Bar as much as our next option because our goal is to get people in and out quickly so we can sell a large volume of products. Here the word children translates in the Greek, téknon which means a child, descendant, inhabitant. Téknon properly, a child; (figuratively) anyone living in full dependence on the heavenly Father, i.e. fully (willingly) relying upon the Lord in glad submission. This prompts God to transform them into His likeness. The NKJV translates, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. This word son translates in the Greek, hyiós. It emphasizes likeness of the believer to the heavenly Father, i.e. resembling His character more and more by living in faith. The choice of the word son may be in part because during biblical times a son was considered the inheritor of land, property, and family wealth. Daughters were not typically ones to inherit anything. Further, each of the three translations uses the word all . The word all in the Greek translates, pas . Pás ( each, every ) means all in the sense of each (every) part that applies. • 21. John K, Thornton s African Dimension Of The Stono Rebellion On September 9, 1739, the Stono Rebellion took place in the colony of South Carolina. The slaves, lead by an Angolan named Jemmy, stunned the plantation owners in their revolt against their oppressive lifestyle. Their goal was to march all the way to Spanish Florida, but they were eventually stopped by the militia. In total, about 60 white civilians were killed and many more slaves experienced the same fate. This was such a significant uprising, not only because of the lack of information we have about rebellions in general, but because it showed that slaves had the ability to revolt against the harsh lifestyle that was forced upon them. While most historians can agree that this was one of the most influential revolts, the best way to interpret this event is still debated. Some historians, like William Stephen, hone in on the aspect of competition in his piece Spanish Designs and Slave Resistance . While other look at specific factors. For example, John K, Thornton sees that the best way to view the Stono Rebellion is to look at the African background of slaves in his essay, African Dimension of the Stono Rebellion . Edward A Pearson, for example, asserts gender is the way to comprehend this revolt in his essay Rebelling As Men . Along these lines, internal validity is just pertinent in studies that attempt to make a causal relationship. It s not significant in most observational or descriptive studies. One of the things that is most hard to handle about internal validity is that it is just important to the particular study being referred to. That is, you can consider internal validity as a zero generalizability concern. All that internal validity means is that you have confirmed that what you did in the study created what you wanted to happen. It doesn t let you know whether what you accomplished for the study was what you needed to do or whether what you happened was what you needed to happen. Research Scenario: A researcher conducted a study to determine if projecting visual illustrations onto a screen during science class would enhance students understanding of scientific principles. The researcher chose two classes for the study: a biology class and a chemistry class. He told one class that they would get to see color illustrations projected onto a screen. He told the other class that they would be the control group so they would not get the illustrations. Since the chemistry classroom already was technologically equipped, the researcher chose the chemistry class as the one that would see the illustrations. At the end of the semester the ... • 23. Water Trading Papers Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has occurred, as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious as to how it got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible to pipe water across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over the country. In areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural water supply, it is necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference. Water trading at its core is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in exchange for another. This paper will examine how water trading occurs between states and ultimately how water gets from where it is to where it is needed. The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without the natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it to where it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to ensure access to water. In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water, which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could promote more efficient water usage because a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Mtbi Test, By Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter... Abstract The MTBI questionnaire, first published in 1943, was originally developed in the United States by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers(The History of the MTBI assessment, 2015). Through Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and his theories about psychological types motivated Myers Briggs to create the MTBI test. Through interpretation the MTBI test acts as a guideline in determining a subject s perception of the world and psychological preferences. In this paper the author will explain their own results from the MTBI test and go into greater detail whether or not it accurately depicts their personality. This author will not only describe their personality type but show the strengths and weakness of this particular personality. This author will also explain how employers look at the MTBI test as a valuable tool in selecting great employees. Introduction Trait theory is defined as The measurement of consistent patterns of habit in an individual s behavior, thoughts, and emotions. The theory is based on the stability of traits over time, how they differ from other individuals, and how they will influence human behavior (Trait Theory, 2015). Traits can be considered as what makes a person who they are. Think of how a person would describe a person. • 28. Religious Freedom And Separation Of Church And State Essay After many frustrations and disputes arising out of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the termination of Bill Establishing A Provision for Teachers of Christian Religion and the new Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom mark a necessary and significant turn. The people of Virginia can finally savor the religious freedom that they longed for. I shall hereby applaud the efforts pushed forth by the honorable James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and so many others who shared the common stance on religious freedom and separation of church and state. However, the achievement seemed provincial when placed in the context of the larger United States. The new nation is at great stake because the congregational church in Massachusetts disallows and persecutes any deviation from its core religious interpretation; Jews are perceived as the enemies of the Christ by a large group of people; and the Catholic minority in many states still suffers. Therefore, absolute religious freedom and the separation of church and state shall be guaranteed in the new constitution in order to maintain the supremacy of God over the state and purity of the God we trust, annihilate the violence, persecution and tyrannies the God disdains, uphold the God given natural rights we once fought for and construct this blessed new nation to be free and prosperous. The Mpaa Rating System Of America The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies (MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code Administration) (Rocchi). The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13 movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real while older children are more mature and ... • 37. Rational And Rational Choice Theory Rational choice theory posits that any individual makes behavioral choices because they logically consider any potentially criminal situation, weigh the possible benefits versus the possible costs, and make a decision to act based on whether or not the benefits outweigh the risks. Rational choice theory differs from other philosophies in that it denies the existence of any kinds of action other than the purely rational and calculative. All social action, it is argued, can be seen as rationally motivated, as instrumental action, however much it may appear to be irrational or non rational (Scott, 2000). Making rational choices means being motivated by personal wants, goals, and needs. It is not possible for all wants and needs to be met or achieved; therefore, choices are made in order to bring the greatest satisfaction and happiness to the individual. Individual does not always reference one human being; rational choice theory is a main idea in economics, sociology, and many other social sciences. An individual with regard to the theory can be a corporation, group, or other defined entity that engages in decision making. The limitations of this theory have led researchers to develop many sub theories. One sub theory of rational choice is routine activity theory, which posits that crime is not an aberration of human society, but merely a common facet of culture that only requires opportunity. No man is free who cannot command himself (Riedweg, n.pag). When Pythagoras says that no person is free who has not obtained the empire of himself, he means that no one is free from his unconscious until he uncovers it and accepts himself. By uncovering one s unconscious, he can freely make good decisions and be responsible for himself. When uncovering his unconscious, he acknowledges every part of himself, including the good and the bad. In the novel, Demian, the protagonist and narrator, Emil Sinclair, uncovers his unconscious through the process of individuation. I will do this by discussion of themes and practices of other artists that I am interested in, evaluating the issues they address. In particular Francis Alys, George Shaw and Social Realism. I first realised my interest in manual labour, menial jobs and cycle of working, when I was travelling, and this influenced my work. • 46. Examples Of Bilbo Transformation In The Hobbit By: Rutherford Medley In the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins starts out peacefully relaxing outside his Hobbit hole, happy being all alone with peace and quiet. Gandalf pays him a visit and puts a strange marking on his door. Those markings said, Burglar wants a good job, plenty of Excitement and reasonable reward. This is why the dwarves brought him on an adventure to find treasure and claim back the Dwarves kingdom from the evil dragon Smaug. During the journey, Bilbo was shown as a soft and humble character that turns into a character full of courage and adventure. In this essay, I will prove that Bilbo has changed and developed into a brave and wise hobbit and at points he was also a trusted leader. The first piece of evidence in the book is in the Chapter, Riddles in the Dark. In that chapter Bilbo is lost in a cave and finds a ring that will later be shown as a ring of magic. But before he finds out that it is magic, he finds Gollum who challenges Bilbo into a game of riddles, and if Gollum wins he gets to eat Bilbo, but if Bilbo wins Gollum has to show him the way out. • 47. Environmental Issues Of Environmental Justice Environmental justice is a term coined in the United States that usually deals with two different things. One is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The other is a mixed body of social science literature pertaining to anything from environmental laws to political ecology. These are seen as environmental discrimination because the companies are placing possibly toxic facilities in these specific areas where the residents do not often have the means to fight back against them. Due to the results of that study, waste dumps and waste incinerators have been the target of environmental justice lawsuits and protests. Several of the most popular Environmental Justice lawsuits are based off of violations of civil rights laws. The first instance to use civil rights as a way to challenge the placement of a waste management facility was in 1979. The Northeast Community Action Group, or NECAG, was created by African American residents in a middle class neighborhood in order to keep a landfill out of their home town. This group is recognized as the first organization that found the connection between race and pollution. The group, alongside their attorney Linda McKeever Bullard started the lawsuit Bean v. Southwestern Waste Management, Inc., which was the first of its kind to challenge the sitting of a waste facility under civil rights law. The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was used many times to defend minority rights during the 1960s, has also been used in numerous Environmental Justice cases. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is sometimes used in lawsuits that are fighting environmental inequality. Section 601 prohibits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, some of the steps that have been taken pushed the limits to what is lawful. Very little reforms have been made even with recent public awareness to the problem. The primary American government sector in charge of sorting through the massive amounts of data that pass through technological means is the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA searches for threats to the United States, whether that be foreign or domestic. Many US citizens did not know how data was being sorted until a few whistle blowers, the most famous being former NSA analyst Edward Snowden, began leaking classified information to the public. This revealed that the US government was using a massive internet dragnet that filtered through everyone s information, along with the tapping of phone calls and private messages, regardless of crimes being committed or not. Among the reasons that are used to explain it one can identify Britain s disrespect of American rights, the trade interference, and impressment of seamen. One of the reasons for the war was the Washington administration s Embargo of 1794 when the Congress declared a thirty day embargo on all ships and vessels in American ports (Volume 15).
