Answer: Animal pollinated plants are strong, which make them easier to be found during evidence
collection but not a plentiful as wind pollen. Wind dispersed pollen produces large amounts of pollen,
which makes it easier to be found in forensic science during evidence collection, but it s harder to
direct find a suspect with this type of pollen. Water dispersed pollen absolutely has to stay in water or
it will degenerate. So this type of pollen doesn t exactly help in forensic science unless a victim was
drowned.
17)Describe how pollen can be used to determine if a crime occurred in the city or in the country or
during the day or night.
Answer: Pollen can be used to determine if a crime occurred in the city or in the country or during the
day or night because country city conditions are different. The air is more polluted in the city than in
the country, which can affect plant cycles. Also, the city has a lot more sidewalks other pavements,
shaded areas and not very much fertile soil for plants to even grow. This majorly limits the types and
survival of plants in that environment. Plants mostly flower in the daytime opposed to the night time
because there is sun only in the daytime. This means that there is more pollen in the air during the

Summary Of The Legal Requirements And Guidance Relating To...
1. Analyse legal requirements and guidance relating to the safeguarding of children. Law and guidance
regulate the way you should work with children in your childcare setting to support and encourage
their well being and safeguard them from abuse and maltreatment. Legislation provides a
comprehensive instruction on what must be attained in respect to child protection and safeguarding.
Whereas Legal guidance is more precise and provides details on how the law ought to be applied and
fulfilled in early years settings and services. Laws and statutory regulation are compulsory and should
reinforce policies and procedures that are used in your setting. Legal requirements Children Act 1989
Determines the duty of early year s practitioners to identify and meet the separate and distinctive
needs of children and to keep them safe. It initiated the belief that the child ought to be at the centre of
planning and that a child s well being and safety are vital when judgements are made concerning
them. This act also recognises the accountabilities of parents in keeping their offspring safe. In this act
there are two particular segments that relate to the duty of local authority with concern to child
protection, these are Section 17 States that services should be put into place to safeguard and promote
the welfare of children within the (local authority) area who are in need . Section 47 States that the
local authority has a duty to investigate when there is a reasonable

Postwar Essay
Postwar In the 1950 s the number of people living in the suburbs came to actually equal the number of
people living in cities. This wave of people was due mainly to the availability of affordable housing;
which allowed middle class Americans to move to an area previously inhabited only by the wealthy.
The houses and neighborhoods built in mass numbers on assembly lines came to look identical to each
other. As a result of this, a model American life was created. People all around the country began to
follow this model, and before they knew it a race to conform had begun. People no longer strove to be
different, neither by ethnicity nor religion; they strove to be the same. David Farber, the author of The
Age Of Great Dreams, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the 1950 s people of all different cultural backgrounds lived side by side in cities; the drastic
change damaged race relations forever. The gap between men and women also grew in the postwar
era. The men who returned from war were forever changed by the experiences they had there. This, as
David Farber explained, gave them something to differentiate themselves from their wives. The
women, who had held jobs while the men were away, were told to return to the home. This gave the
women something to resent the men for. The 1950 s were a difficult time for men and women due to
the large gap that had grown between them as a result of the war. The baby boom of the postwar era is
a real marvel to society for the simple reason that it has never happened before. Farber states that he is
not sure exactly why the baby boom occurred; however, he implies that there were many factors
leading to the occurrence of the phenomenon. During the 1950 s seventy percent of women were
married by the age of 24, and families were having an average of 3.8 children each. There are no
records of a baby boom after World War I, nor were there any records of a baby boom after any major
European wars. Therefore, the postwar baby boom was due to factors that had nothing to do with the
war directly. It was perhaps that America was in a state of extreme prosperity, people had money,
houses, back yards and appliances. They then felt it was a good time to settle down

Soccer Influence On American Culture
Stated by Foer, Soccer isn t the same as Bach or Buddhism. But it is often more deeply felt than
religion, and just as much a part of the community s fabric, a repository of tradition. (How 1). Soccer
is an influential sport which is more often than not taken more serious throughout the world than in
the United States. Within the region of Europe soccer has influenced the people in varying ways, such
as changing their perspective on immigration of foreigners. This change of perspective is due to the
different characteristics portrayed from soccer that can move a whole nation or one as an individual.
The migration tolerance of different nations can be influenced immensely by soccer specifically,
through World Cup play of France s international team, propaganda images and personal encounters.

As for my mentor Iain Langstone he was given the opportunity to come the United States from
England to play soccer at the collegiate level. Comparably to the opinions heard by the French players
as foreigners, Iain also heard stuff said about him however it was not negative. The effects of the
opinions were rather positive giving him confidence in himself and his play as a soccer player. Due to
his acceptance from others. Although the opinions of France and Iain s soccer team were not remotely
close this shows how one can personally be affected by others opinion in soccer. The game of soccer
can open the door for endless opportunities. As for Iain, without the chance of coming to United States
on a soccer scholarship his life would be drastically different than it is today. After his time spent in
the United States he was open to the job of becoming a coach at youth premier levels, an assistant
coach for UNC Pembroke and a rehab tech at Fayetteville Orthopedics. These jobs serve as a stepping

Redwood Forest Observation Essay
In this essay I will be explaining to you three things that I have learnt from presentations during this
inquiry. Here are the three presentations that I will be talking about. Mountain biking in the Redwood
forest by Moss Stanford. Prisons by Tahuriwakanui, Thomas Poysden and Hoani Lawrence. And
economic cars by Matt Crockett. I will be Talking about these topics because I found them interesting
and I have some interesting information about them. The way I found out this information was by
taking notes while I was listening to them present to the whole class. The first one I will be talking
about is Moss s MTB Project. In Moss s Inquiry he was talking about Mountain Biking in the
Redwood Forest. Through out his presentation I learnt that 30% of mountain biking trails are in the
forest. I found this interesting because I have only rode my bike in the forest had haven t yet found a
MTB trail that is not in the forest. I think that their are not many trails in the forest because the forests
have been logged for their valuable wood. I also found it interesting how some people see a sign
saying that this trail is closed due to logging . This really stupid because you can get badly hurt by
debri on the trail and falling trees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through out their presentation I learnt that prisoners sneak mobile phones into the prison to take
footage of fights. The way they sneak their phones into prisons is, they take them apart and hide them
in the heel of their shoes. The reason they take them apart is so that they can fit. And when the guards
aren t looking, the prisoners organise a fight. They then get recorded and put of the social media. I
think a good solution to this would be to check their shoes or wave a metal detector over their whole
body before they walk inside the

Market opportunity is a big factor in shaping a company s strategy. Indeed, managers can t properly
tailor strategy to the company s situation without first identifying its market opportunities and
appraising the growth and profit potential each one holds. Centurum managers do an excellent job of
identifying potential opportunities and appraising the potential impact of each opportunity for the
company. Centurum managers due an in depth evaluation of the opportunity and establish potential
team members that may be required to support the effort along with the win percentage for the effort.
Centurum managers realize they cannot go after every opportunity that comes out but know they must
capitalize on the ones perfectly tailored to match the skill sets of its employees and the size of the

What ideas do you have about the use of the term Christian Counseling or Christian Human services?
The vocation of Christian Counseling is unique because not only is it a practical professional
discipline, but God inspired discipline with a Biblical standard. I believe that we juxtapose Christian
and secular counseling, both seek the same goal which is to provide mental and emotionally stability,
however the theological emphasis helps Christians uniquely through their faith which is Christianity.
For example, if a nonbeliever rejected going to counseling, there is nothing that holds them

Polarized Light Lab Report

Abstract: The purpose of the experiment is to learn more about the polarization of light, polarizing
filter and the light intensity changes through polarizing filters.
Overview:
The action of light is an extraordinary phenomenon. Light, for example, the one emitting from a light
bulb, is a form of wave motions that consist of electric and magnetic fields that vibrate at right angles
to the direction of travel of a light beam. The electric field that is associated with the light wave
oscillates in random directions, but is always in a right angle to the light propagation direction. An
unpolarized light is known as a light wave that vibrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once I began to rotate one of the filters the light became increasingly darker. It appeared to have a
tinted affect. The light appeared to change its distinction.
Within the second part of the experiment I darkened the room so that the representation of light was
more significant. When I had everything hooked up properly I was able to use the measurement tool to
make 15degree rotations accordingly. These rotations were not precise and it appeared that it only took
me 180degrees to make a full rotation. Considering that the filters were very small. I made a total of
13 readings and they are as follows: 0degrees 4.83ohms, 15degrees 15.39 ohms, 30degrees 18.82
ohms, 45degrees 15.53ohms, 60degrees 12.27ohms, 75degrees 16.60ohms, 90degrees 5.95ohms,

Essay about Company of Wolves-Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood
The Company of Wolves by Angela Carter is very similar to Little Red Riding Hood , the little girl
heading out with a basket full of liquor and goodies for her grandmother. The wolf stopping her on her
way to the grandmother s house; the wolf races to the house, eats the grandma, pretends to be the
grandma and makes Little Red Riding Hood believe that he is her grandma. He pounces on her and
tries to eat her but a hunter comes and kills the wolf and saves the grandma. The story reveals an
extensive imagination by elaborating on different ideas and points of view of gender roles. Carter s
characters portray these roles very similar to the way we view gender roles today. Carter uses the
wolves as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We could assume that every wolf was once a man. At the beginning Carter explains how wolves are
carnivore incarnate and he s cunning and ferocious , but yet she also explains how melancholy a wolf
can be because the beasts would love to be less beastly if only they knew how (110, 112). Everyone
seems to be afraid of these wolves fear and flee the wolf; for, worst of all, the wolf may be more then
he seems which could mean that the wolf isn t necessarily after fresh meat but that he just wants sex.
The wolf only sees women as meat. It kind of reminds me of The Wedding Singer where Glenn grades
his women with the FDA system, for example if he thought a woman was top of the line he would say
that she was Grade A, top choice meat. At the end of the story, the wolf seems to be put in his place by
the girl because she doesn t fear him and when he tries to frighten her with telling her he s going to eat
her, she just laughs at him and rips off his clothes. Many stereotypes have men portrayed as beasts that
crave sexual encounters and as creatures that only think about sex which Carter seems to do with the
wolves. Women are seen as innocent and virtuous individuals that are only spoiled by men.

Elizabeth Bennet Individuality
Pride and Prejudice, a novel by Jane Austen published in 1813. It is, to this day, universally loved and
revered. A classic, one may say. This tells the story of the prejudice that occurred in the 19th century
and the pride which kept lovers apart. The lovers in this story are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.
Elizabeth was a quick witted girl, but her wits took her to make quick judgments. Mr. Darcy was a
man born into wealth, with a strong ego. They, however, put their differences behind them. The
eighteenth century British novelist Laurence Sterne wrote, Nobody, but he who has felt it, can

strength, both obstinately pulling in a contrary direction at the same time. This story proves this quote

sister, and being a proper lady. She didn t know whether to sit at home and wait, or run through the
muddy fields to her sister. Elizabeth s mother was against her going through fields as she said, How
can you be so silly, as to think of such a thing, in all this dirt! You will not be fit to be seen when you
get there. (Austen 24) Her mother did not want her to go, because it would look very poorly on her
behalf. Elizabeth however not caring about her reputation, was insistent on walking to Jane. Elizabeth
did not want to conform to society, ever. So when Collins asks for Elizabeth s hand in marriage, she,
among the pressure from her family, promptly refused. To Elizabeth, Collins was foolish and
pompous, and she could stand to think to ever marry someone so humiliating. Even when Darcy
proposes to her for the first time, she refuses. Her hasty judgments led her to think that he was an

Hardship In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
The Outsiders was written by S.E. Hinton. The book was written in 1967. The Outsiders take place
during the 1960s. The book is about Ponyboy and his gang. They are greasers and going up against the
Socs from the west side. The theme of The Outsiders is hardships can happen to anyone, no matter
what kind of person they are. An example of a hardship is when Johnny dies. Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay
gold... The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died (Hinton 148). This shows when Johnny died
and Ponyboy was there with him. Ponyboy had become very close to Johnny during their time up in
the old church in Windrixville. Another example is when Dally died. He was jerked half around by the
impact of the bullet, then slowly crumpled with a look

Hardness Of Water For A Given Stock Solution Of Calcium...
HARDNESS OF WATER
Student Name: Gaurav Shriyan
Student ID.: 2275658
Group Name: A1
Date of Experiment: 26th April 2016
Introduction:
Hard water can be defined as water that contains minerals like calcium and magnesium in it. Some
household tap water is supplied with a mix of hard water. The easiest way to determine whether the
water is hard is to use a detergent. Hard water creates less lather compared to normal soft water. This
experiment aims to find the hardness of tap water with the help of a given stock solution of Calcium
Carbonate (CaCO3(aq)) and liquid detergent. We will take three dilution of the stock solution as a
base to find the bubble height, plot them on a graph and get a linear equation of y = mx + c. Using this
equation we will find the concentration of the given tap water. Finally, we will do the error analysis
and conclude the experiment.
Materials and Method:
Materials used for the experiment are as follows:
Stock calcium carbonate solution (CaCO3(aq))
Deionised water
Tap water
Liquid detergent
Boiling tubes
Boiling tube rack
Graduated cylinders
Glass marking pencil
Stoppers
Pipettes
Method:
In this experiment, we first prepared three dilution of the calcium carbonate solution (CaCO3(aq))with
a concentration of 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 in different graduated cylinder. Each dilution had two samples of
20ml each. Hence, each dilution had two test results and their average is counted as the final result.
The dilution

Unknown Organic Compounds
Organic Compounds contain Carbon, a versatile bonding element due to its ability to form four stable
bonds. They can be separated from mixtures and identified through Thin Layer Chromatography
(TLC). TLC is a simple, and rapid analytical technique that provides qualitative information about a
sample. It is based on the principle that different compounds will have different attractions to the
stationary and mobile phases. Typically, already characterized compounds can be identified
chemically. This allows scientists to determine if compounds have desirable structures, and if reaction
conditions of unwanted products can be altered. However, with complex compounds that were never
characterized, this process is insufficient. Instead, IR Spectroscopy is used. It measures the vibrations
of bonds, producing a spectrum of the different energies absorbed by the molecule. By comparing the
energies with standard correlation values, the identity of an unknown compound can be determined. In
this experiment, the identity of an unknown organic compound will be determined using these
methods. Procedure: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solution was placed into a separation funnel, in which the top and bottom layers were slowly
filtered out into two different beakers. The bottom layer solution was heated until the ethyl acetate
evaporated and only the organic compound remained. Next, a TLC technique was prepared employing
silica gel as the stationary phase and 1:1 ethyl acetate hexane as the mobile phase. In order to develop
a standard, a TLC plate was spotted with benzoic acid (BA), benzophenone (BZ), biphenyl (BI), and a
mixture off the three. After incubating the plate in the chamber with the mobile phase, it was analyzed
under a UV light. Then, the Rf values for the known compounds were calculated using the Retention

Robert Stevenson s Treasure Island Essay
In Robert Stevenson s Treasure Island, Jim, the protagonist, tried to get Captain Flint s legendary
treasure while fighting lying, deceitful pirates. Robert Louis Stevenson used suspense, imagery, and
foreshadowing as part of his craft to tell the story of Treasure Island. Each literary technique had a
significant impact on the plot and characters. One example of author s craft in Treasure Island is
suspense. One way suspense is used is leaving cliffhangers at the ends of many of the chapters,
making the reader want to continue. One such cliffhanger is at the end of chapter 10, when Jim climbs
into the apple barrel. The chapter ends with, I found out that the lives of all the honest hands on board
depended on me, and me alone. Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The imagery gives the reader clues about who this man is and what he does. Imagery in Treasure
Island is used in many ways to develop mood and develop characters. The final example of author s
craft used in Treasure Island is foreshadowing. Foreshadowing was used on page 53, when it said,
There s only one man I m afraid of. And who s that? cried squire. Name the dog sir! You , replied the
doctor for you can not hold your tongue. This quote gives the reader enough information to have a
good idea what will happen next, but doesn t give it away. The book also read Well Silver , replied the
doctor, if that is so, I ll go one step further: look out for squalls when you find it. This quote allows the
reader to make a prediction that there will be a fight or argument when they find the treasure. The use
of foreshadowing in Treasure Island help build anticipation on what might happen next therefore,
adding more of a dramatic element to the storyline. Suspense, imagery, and foreshadowing were
elements used in Treasure Island to enhance the story. One example being that imagery was used to set

Village worked towards the development The Glen Town Center, in efforts of attaining their goal of
creating a lasting source of pride for the community by building quality public amenities,
infrastructure, housing plus recreational and job opportunities (Master Plan and Design Guidelines,
2008). In its construction, The Glen utilizes several principals of the smart growth model, or the
sustainable development of healthy communities. The Glen successfully strengthens development
toward an existing community, creates a range of housing opportunities and choices, creates walkable
neighborhoods, provides a variety of transportation choices, takes advantages of compact building
design, and preserves open space, farmland, natural beauty and critical environmental areas
(Friedland, Relyea, Courard Hauri, 2012). As previously noted, The Glen was formerly a Naval Air

The bargaining power of customer is likely to be high if there are few buyers chasing too many goods,
if the buyer purchases in bulk quantities, if the product is not differentiated, if buyer incur low

The bargaining power of suppliers is likely to be high when: suppliers are concentrated and well

switching cost and you are not an important customer to supplier etc.
The intensity of existing competitive rivalry is likely to be high if there are number of small or equal

The threat of new entrants is likely to be high if capital requirements to start the business are less, if
few economies of scale are in place, if customers can easily switch, if your technology is not hard to

The Spiritual Discipline Of Worship
Introduction
The spiritual discipline that I have chosen is worship. When I think of the term worship my initial
response is singing to God but throughout this course I have learnt that although singing is one
important aspect of worship, that it is so much more than just that. Worship is to honour and adore the
Trinity as the supreme treasure of life. Worship is offering your whole self to God. Worship is a choice
and a way of life.
Summarise your original understanding of the discipline before the course started
Before I began studying the discipline of worship I understood worship as singing to God. I believed
that it was something that came naturally to every believer, that it was something that you just did
when you were a Christian. To think of worship as a discipline was a bit of a struggle for me. I
understood worship to be lifting God up with your voice either in church meetings or in your quiet
time at home and only had a basic understanding of what living a lifestyle of worship looked like.
A Significant Christian figure in history who has contributed to this discipline
The significant Christian figure that I would like to focus on is William Booth. William was born in
England, gave his life to Jesus at the age of 15 and is best known today as founder and first general of
the Salvation Army . William had a passion for music and a niche for using secular songs to reach the
lost, although he was often criticized by others for doing so. He contributed

Identifying Communication Styles As A Training Professional
Identifying Communication Styles
As a training professional, you need to be able to differentiate effective and ineffective communication
styles, and understand that their style of communication may often conflict with the way messages are
interpreted. By understanding different communication styles, we can help our students begin to
understand how to separate the message from the communication style of the person with whom they
are communicating and to appropriately respond to the content of the message.
Examples would be a supervisor saying to a subordinate in loud and angry tone of voice ...can t you
do anything right? (aggressive style) or a shop clerk rolling her eyes back as she tells the customer
rummaging through her purse take your time, I m not busy at all (passive aggressive style).
Our communication skills are developed based upon our education, attitudes, and preconceived
notions. The good news is that communication styles can be changed with effort and the right attitude.
No matter your style, effective communication always includes positive feedback. Constructive
comments help those you are speaking with to feel good about themselves, to feel more comfortable
and confident trying new things, to grow, to be heard and to be taken seriously. Critical and
judgmental comments will inhibit growth and learning. For example:
Critical/Negative Feedback
Your voice is way too low. Nobody will hear a word you have to say! Try it again!
Don t bother trying

Ethical Guidelines Should Corporations Follow When Using...
What ethical guidelines should corporations follow when using social media marketing? What exactly
does this question mean? It means that corporations should use good judgment when using social
media for marketing. Corporations should not take advantage of their consumers by being unethical
with their choice of how to market themselves through social media. According to Vinjamuri, there are
five main unethical behaviors of corporations when they utilize social media marketing (2011). The
first of these is unreported endorsements. Unreported endorsements are when companies give any
form of compensation to a blogger or tweeter, and this type of action must be disclosed (Vinjamuri,
2011). Back in 2006, Wal Mart was guilty of this when they, essentially, paid bloggers to write
positive things about their corporation. Another unethical corporate action is improper anonymity.
This happens when companies have their agencies comment anonymously on their products to
promote them or even to question their competitors. Others who may read the comments have no idea
that they are from people working inside the corporation because they comment anonymously. Whole
Foods CEO John Mackey did this back in 2007 when his company pseudonymously trashed their
competitor Wild Oats online (Vinjamuri, 2011). Because of Whole Foods actions, they lost the trust of
many of their customers. A third example of unethical corporate behavior is compromising consumer

The Use Of Extreme Cold On Surgery Or Other Medical...
Cryotherapy is the use of extreme cold in surgery or other medical treatments. Cryotherapy unlike
other methods of treatment works in a very specific way in order to stimulate the brain. First a person
is put in to The Cryo sauna, this is a simple shower like machine that uses the gas form of liquid
nitrogen to lower the client s skin surface temperature by 30 50 degrees Fahrenheit over a period of
two three minutes. The chamber is then cooled using liquid nitrogen but clients are not in direct
contact with the gas. The skin reacts to the cold and sends messages to the brain that acts as a
stimulant to the regulatory functions of the body. This is important because it then makes the brain

Before they begin to go into detail about how to use cryotherapy, they first explain what it process is
exactly and they also gives background information on the process as well. They explain how the use
of cold temperatures are said to have increasingly significant results on the diminishing of
inflammation around the area of the soreness. By decreasing blood flow, cryotherapy is said to have
reduced muscle spasms, and edema. Edema is an excess of watery fluid collected in the cavities or
tissues of the body. It is caused by body injuries, and make the area around the injury swell.
Cryotherapy has been reported to significantly decrease this from happening.
Authors Meeusen and Lievens preform these test in order to help give positive feedback about the
process of cryotherapy and they also allows them the chance to get background information on the
health benefits as well. For people who prefer not to submerge in the water, the author provides
alternatives such as freezing gel pack. This is important because some people cannot handle being
submerged in ice water in order to get the full benefit of the process.
The process of cold therapy has been around for over two hundred years, and has been proven
effective, but recently there has been more research done in order to test different aspects of the
therapy such as how it effects muscle soreness on a stressed muscle. My whole life I have heard that if
I have sore muscles, I should

Instead, individual courage and achievement are emphasized as the dominant engines of progress. Of
course, remarkable individuals do shape history, but in this concise history heroic individuals seem to
create collective reform and resistance rather than emerge from them. Eijah Marrs leads black troops
into battle for the Union and later speaks for black rights (121). But the populist black Union Leagues
in which he participated after the war to resist widespread white on black violence of Redemption era
Kentucky are missing. Coal miner Sam Hawkins struggles to provide for his family in Depression era
Letcher County (133), but there is no reference to the formative class and unionization struggles in
1930s eastern Kentucky coalfields. Muhammad Ali (178 79) refuses induction into the army, is
vindicated by the Supreme Court, and regains his heavyweight title. But the context of the anti
Vietnam war movement and black resistance is omitted; here, Ali s historical significance rests more
on his reconciliation with his native Louisville rather than his contributions to the black power
movement. Commercially successful country or mountain singers merit praise (155 58), but there is
no mention of influential message singers such as Molly Jackson, Sarah Ogan Gunning, or Florence

environmental advocacy is rooted in a broadly based grassroots citizens movement that gets no

With the rate of fatalities in 2017, South Carolina will end with an approximation of 1064 fatalities

conditions by using a one billion dollar loan lent by lawmakers. Even though a proposal to pay back
lawmakers hasn t been discussed yet, you can make the initiative to find one and solve what seems to
be a perpetual issue. I could not find any comments from you addressing the issues with roads nor
anything that shows your support for McMasters plan, thus Senator I am wondering what steps you
believe need to be taken to address this issue. I believe that you should propound a bill similar to what
McMaster opposed, which would tax citizens 10 cents more on gas. This plan would be a sound
solution to augment tax revenues without increasing taxes at a higher percentage, and will be more
likely welcomed by South Carolinians. Regardless of the work you have to deal with, senator I urge
you to address this problem quickly. The longer it takes to come up with a proposed bill to fix these
issues the more lives will be taken. I hope you can take some time out of your busy schedule and read
my letter, and formulate some sort of plan to mitigate this issue that all South Carolinians face.

Ethical Leadership in 21st Century Global Organizations
Ethical Leadership in 21st Century Global Organisations
Introduction:
Business leadership is inherently challenging, calling for an individual or collective of leaders with a
strong sense of organization, a critical understanding of the internal peculiarities of a given operation
and a firm recognition of the ever shifting external conditions contextualizing the business. The
demands incumbent upon organizational leadership require an integration of vision, pragmatism,
strategic orientation and ethicality. However, as the circumstances shaping the global business
environment shift, so too do the nature of these various demands. This is the condition at the center of
the current reading and research on ethical leadership in 21st century global orgnisations. For effective
leadership to achieve survival, let alone success, in a context where the collision of varying cultural,
legal and ethical dispositions has come to influence decision making, it is necessary to acknowledge
and adapt to a more global understanding of achieving organizational goals. As the discussion here
will demonstrate, there is a distinct ethical complexity to this adaptation.
Synthesis of ideas: Indeed, this is the focus of the series of ideas expressed within our literature. Here,
researchers acknowledge that the inception and rise of globalization, has altered the way that 21st
century businesses compete. With the continued dismantling of trade obstacles between borders and
across oceans, the

Filipinos love fiestas. Here in our country, Philippines, we can witness different festivals in each and

Spaniards. When Spanish missionaries entered the Philippines during the mid 1500s, they found that
the fiesta was a convenient tool to help teach Filipinos the Roman Catholic faith. That is why, in the
Philippines and many other former Spanish colonies, the Spanish word fiesta is used to denote a

What Is Alan Turing s Speech On The 150th Anniversary Of...
In the speech given by Woodrow Wilson on the 150th anniversary of Princeton University, what was
to become the unofficial motto, Princeton in the Nation s Service and in the Service of All Nations,
was first recited. In that address, Wilson concluded that our most important contributions to society s
well being depend on the continued pursuit of fundamental truths and basic research. I believe he was
saying that while it is imperative that we remain aware of the needs and demands of our own circle of
influence and generation, truly meaningful service to society comes through our passion for
knowledge and the desire to advance mankind. Alan Turing who was a 1938 graduate of Princeton

Alexis feels a little uneasy when she sees Kasey turning prettier and prettier each day in addition to
her being friendless since the beginning of the book and the next thing you Kasey is in the middle of
the popular girls. Alexis is really suspicious about how Kasey changed in only a matter of weeks she
later finds out that Kasey joined the Sunshine Club so she joins as well. Than she finds out that you
have to take an oath to be a part of the Club and that a spirit by the name of Aralt is controlling these
girls bodies to make them good looking and to also give them whatever they desire, but Alexis can t
wrap her head around why a spirit who died over a 100 years ago would want to help these girls, along
with how he doesn t get anything in return. The cause of the problem was when Tashi had the book of
Aralt and let Adrienne have it so they could make up the Sunshine Club together and prior to that
more girls kept on signing up join the Club, and now since Alexis is trying to uncover why Aralt is
doing this she later finds out that one Sunshine girl has to die in order to give Aralt more energy, but
since then Lydia goes on and kills Tashi to be more connected to Aralt thinking he loves her and will
protect her considering her bad home lifestyle although what Alexis doesn t realise is that Lydia is
trying to set Aralt free from the book which is another problem for Alexis because not only does she
need to stop Lydia from setting an evil spirit out of a book, but she has to save a girl from getting
herself killed just so all the Sunshine girl can be rich, beautiful, healthy, and also controlled, Alexis
has to find a way to get rid of Aralt quickly before a sacrifice is made and she has little time since
graduation is coming soon and

Comparing Angela s Ashes And Huckleberry Finn
The importance of community and the charity of strangers is very prominent in Angela s Ashes and
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The way that strangers treat them compared to how their own
families act is a large difference. Strangers tend to be more charitable and kind, but their families don t
seem to care as much about them. The way their families treat them in both stories is negative. In
Angela s Ashes Malachy and Angela are distant parents. Malachy drinks and doesn t bring money
home. In Frank s teenage years his father leaves for London one day and never comes back. When
Frank s little siblings die his mother closes herself off and refuses to eat or drink or even get out of
bed. Even Frank s grandparents, aunts and uncles treat him and his siblings poorly. They are viewed as
outsiders on his mother s side for being from the north and on his father s side for being from the
south. Frank and his siblings are seen as outsiders in even their own families because of who they are.
Their own families seem to be their greatest critics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One night his father breaks into his room at the Widow s house and insults Huck repeatedly. He bullies
Huck for looking nice and learning how to read. Huck s father Pap uses Huck s supposed wealth as an
excuse to take his son back. Pap takes advantage of his son Huck by taking him back into his care to
receive the money belonging to Huck. All Pap seems to care about is the money he could receive.
When Pap takes Huck to his cabin Huck is physically abused. At one point Pap chases Huck around
threatening to kill him. Huck lives in constant fear of his father and his father s drinking because of
the violent way he s treated by his only family

Analyzing Audit And Fraud Risks
Analyzing Audit and Fraud Risks
Audit risk, as defined in SAS No. 47, under Audit Risk and Materiality in Conducting an Audit , is the
kind of risk that an auditor may unknowingly take by failing to make corrections as per their opinions
on financial statements that are materially misstated (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). SAS represents
audit risk in the form of a model that comprises three different risks. There is the control risk, the
inherent risk and detection risk. This is known as the Audit Risk Model (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur
34).
As a way of increasing awareness of possible fraud, SAS No. 82 Consideration of Fraud in a Financial
Statement Audit , was issued in 1997 (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). This SAS does not modify the
basic ARM, but it expands on the guidance for the auditor s consideration of material fraud in
conducting financial statement audits. The SAS increases an auditor s ability to detect fraud in an
organization.
Since the issuance of SAS No. 47, many other approaches of developing the ARM have been issued
(Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). One such approach is the belief function framework that is used to
model the audit planning and evaluation process for accounts receivable. While using such an
approach, it is easier to demonstrate the viability of the auditors. The approach also serves as an expert
system to automate belief functions propagations in networks. More so, sensitivity analyses have been
performed to identify the significance of

The Perceptions Of Grammar On Grammar
Results To answer RQ1, the perceptions of grammar in speaking from both NS teacher and NNS
students have to be found by analyzing the answers from the interview Q2, Q4 and Q5. The results
show that, in terms of the perceptions towards grammar in speaking, NS teacher do differ from NNS
students. NS teacher s answer shows that grammar was very important in speaking, during the
interview, when she was asked about Q4, she said: ...You speak with few repeated errors, you can
never be completely like a native speaker. but there is not clear patterns of errors. Patterns errors for
example, Chinese people always leave out articles, or always messing up with tense. Well, for a
perfect ESL learner who is at high level, they would leave out articles occasionally, but not always.
And tense, they have a good grasp of the tense. For example. When asked about Q5, she answered:
...The accent isn t really an issue, but speakers who speak fluent English with lots of grammar
mistakes, that s not perfect English. So if the accuracy of the language... if the person is making lots of
grammar mistakes, that s very far from being a perfect speaker . She underscored the importance of
grammar in speaking and she also thought accent was not an issue for NNS. This finding echos
Kormos Dénes study (2004), which indicates that accuracy (grammar), plays an important role in
fluency judgment. However, opposite answers were found in the NNS students answers. Even though
there was one student Mary said

Opec And The Price Of Oil
OPEC and the price of oil
The organization of the petroleum exporting countries or OPEC was created at Baghdad Conference in
Iraq in September 1960. The founding members of organization were Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia
and Venezuela. These five states were later joined by nine other countries: Qatar (1961), Indonesia
(1962), Libya (1962), United Arab Emirates (1967), Algeria (1969), Nigeria (1971), Ecuador (1973),
Gabon (1975), and Angola (2007). Ecuador and Gabon withdrew from the organization in 1992 and
1994 as Indonesia in 2007 respectively. OPEC relocated its headquarters from Geneva to Vienna in
1960. The purpose of OPEC, as with any cartel, is to limit supplies in the hope of keeping the price
high. The oil industry has been plagued by production booms and falling prices ever since Colonel
Drakes discovery of oil at Titusville, Pennsylvania in 1859. Just as major oil companies colluded from
the 1920 s to the 1960 s to present prices and profits from falling, members of OPEC meet at a regular
basis to set production levels in the hop of maintaining prices. The essential nature of oil (no
substitutes) coupled with its limited number of suppliers make it the ideal product monopoly.
When OPEC was formed in 1960, its main goal was to prevent its compromise the world s largest oil
producers, refiners, and marketers from lowering the price of oil, which they had always specified, or
reported. OPEC members sought to gain greater control over oil prices by

  • 4. Postwar Essay Postwar In the 1950 s the number of people living in the suburbs came to actually equal the number of people living in cities. This wave of people was due mainly to the availability of affordable housing; which allowed middle class Americans to move to an area previously inhabited only by the wealthy. The houses and neighborhoods built in mass numbers on assembly lines came to look identical to each other. As a result of this, a model American life was created. People all around the country began to follow this model, and before they knew it a race to conform had begun. People no longer strove to be different, neither by ethnicity nor religion; they strove to be the same. David Farber, the author of The Age Of Great Dreams, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to the 1950 s people of all different cultural backgrounds lived side by side in cities; the drastic change damaged race relations forever. The gap between men and women also grew in the postwar era. The men who returned from war were forever changed by the experiences they had there. This, as David Farber explained, gave them something to differentiate themselves from their wives. The women, who had held jobs while the men were away, were told to return to the home. This gave the women something to resent the men for. The 1950 s were a difficult time for men and women due to the large gap that had grown between them as a result of the war. The baby boom of the postwar era is a real marvel to society for the simple reason that it has never happened before. Farber states that he is not sure exactly why the baby boom occurred; however, he implies that there were many factors leading to the occurrence of the phenomenon. During the 1950 s seventy percent of women were married by the age of 24, and families were having an average of 3.8 children each. There are no records of a baby boom after World War I, nor were there any records of a baby boom after any major European wars. Therefore, the postwar baby boom was due to factors that had nothing to do with the war directly. It was perhaps that America was in a state of extreme prosperity, people had money, houses, back yards and appliances. They then felt it was a good time to settle down ... This tells the story of the prejudice that occurred in the 19th century and the pride which kept lovers apart. The lovers in this story are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth was a quick witted girl, but her wits took her to make quick judgments. Mr. Darcy was a man born into wealth, with a strong ego. They, however, put their differences behind them. Elizabeth s mother was against her going through fields as she said, How can you be so silly, as to think of such a thing, in all this dirt! You will not be fit to be seen when you get there. (Austen 24) Her mother did not want her to go, because it would look very poorly on her behalf. Elizabeth however not caring about her reputation, was insistent on walking to Jane. Elizabeth did not want to conform to society, ever. So when Collins asks for Elizabeth s hand in marriage, she, among the pressure from her family, promptly refused. • 23. Hardness Of Water For A Given Stock Solution Of Calcium... HARDNESS OF WATER Student Name: Gaurav Shriyan Student ID.: 2275658 Group Name: A1 Date of Experiment: 26th April 2016 Introduction: Hard water can be defined as water that contains minerals like calcium and magnesium in it. Some household tap water is supplied with a mix of hard water. The easiest way to determine whether the water is hard is to use a detergent. Hard water creates less lather compared to normal soft water. This experiment aims to find the hardness of tap water with the help of a given stock solution of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3(aq)) and liquid detergent. We will take three dilution of the stock solution as a base to find the bubble height, plot them on a graph and get a linear equation of y = mx + c. Using this equation we will find the concentration of the given tap water. Finally, we will do the error analysis and conclude the experiment. Materials and Method: Materials used for the experiment are as follows: Stock calcium carbonate solution (CaCO3(aq)) Deionised water Tap water Liquid detergent Boiling tubes Boiling tube rack Graduated cylinders Glass marking pencil Stoppers Pipettes Method: In this experiment, we first prepared three dilution of the calcium carbonate solution (CaCO3(aq))with a concentration of 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 in different graduated cylinder. Each dilution had two samples of 20ml each. Hence, each dilution had two test results and their average is counted as the final result. The dilution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Unknown Organic Compounds Organic Compounds contain Carbon, a versatile bonding element due to its ability to form four stable bonds. They can be separated from mixtures and identified through Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). TLC is a simple, and rapid analytical technique that provides qualitative information about a sample. It is based on the principle that different compounds will have different attractions to the stationary and mobile phases. Typically, already characterized compounds can be identified chemically. This allows scientists to determine if compounds have desirable structures, and if reaction conditions of unwanted products can be altered. However, with complex compounds that were never characterized, this process is insufficient. Instead, IR Spectroscopy is used. It measures the vibrations of bonds, producing a spectrum of the different energies absorbed by the molecule. By comparing the energies with standard correlation values, the identity of an unknown compound can be determined. In this experiment, the identity of an unknown organic compound will be determined using these methods. Procedure: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to develop a standard, a TLC plate was spotted with benzoic acid (BA), benzophenone (BZ), biphenyl (BI), and a mixture off the three. One way suspense is used is leaving cliffhangers at the ends of many of the chapters, making the reader want to continue. • 31. The Spiritual Discipline Of Worship Introduction The spiritual discipline that I have chosen is worship. When I think of the term worship my initial response is singing to God but throughout this course I have learnt that although singing is one important aspect of worship, that it is so much more than just that. Worship is to honour and adore the Trinity as the supreme treasure of life. Worship is offering your whole self to God. Worship is a choice and a way of life. Summarise your original understanding of the discipline before the course started Before I began studying the discipline of worship I understood worship as singing to God. I believed that it was something that came naturally to every believer, that it was something that you just did when you were a Christian. To think of worship as a discipline was a bit of a struggle for me. I understood worship to be lifting God up with your voice either in church meetings or in your quiet time at home and only had a basic understanding of what living a lifestyle of worship looked like. A Significant Christian figure in history who has contributed to this discipline The significant Christian figure that I would like to focus on is William Booth. William was born in England, gave his life to Jesus at the age of 15 and is best known today as founder and first general of the Salvation Army . • 32. Identifying Communication Styles As A Training Professional Identifying Communication Styles As a training professional, you need to be able to differentiate effective and ineffective communication styles, and understand that their style of communication may often conflict with the way messages are interpreted. By understanding different communication styles, we can help our students begin to understand how to separate the message from the communication style of the person with whom they are communicating and to appropriately respond to the content of the message. Examples would be a supervisor saying to a subordinate in loud and angry tone of voice ...can t you do anything right? (aggressive style) or a shop clerk rolling her eyes back as she tells the customer rummaging through her purse take your time, I m not busy at all (passive aggressive style). Our communication skills are developed based upon our education, attitudes, and preconceived notions. The good news is that communication styles can be changed with effort and the right attitude. No matter your style, effective communication always includes positive feedback. Constructive comments help those you are speaking with to feel good about themselves, to feel more comfortable and confident trying new things, to grow, to be heard and to be taken seriously. Critical and judgmental comments will inhibit growth and learning. For example: Critical/Negative Feedback Your voice is way too low. Nobody will hear a word you have to say! Try it again! • 33. Ethical Guidelines Should Corporations Follow When Using... What ethical guidelines should corporations follow when using social media marketing? What exactly does this question mean? It means that corporations should use good judgment when using social media for marketing. Corporations should not take advantage of their consumers by being unethical with their choice of how to market themselves through social media. According to Vinjamuri, there are five main unethical behaviors of corporations when they utilize social media marketing (2011). The first of these is unreported endorsements. Unreported endorsements are when companies give any form of compensation to a blogger or tweeter, and this type of action must be disclosed (Vinjamuri, 2011). Back in 2006, Wal Mart was guilty of this when they, essentially, paid bloggers to write positive things about their corporation. Another unethical corporate action is improper anonymity. This happens when companies have their agencies comment anonymously on their products to promote them or even to question their competitors. Others who may read the comments have no idea that they are from people working inside the corporation because they comment anonymously. Whole Foods CEO John Mackey did this back in 2007 when his company pseudonymously trashed their competitor Wild Oats online (Vinjamuri, 2011). Because of Whole Foods actions, they lost the trust of many of their customers. A third example of unethical corporate behavior is compromising consumer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By decreasing blood flow, cryotherapy is said to have reduced muscle spasms, and edema. Edema is an excess of watery fluid collected in the cavities or tissues of the body. The way that strangers treat them compared to how their own families act is a large difference. Strangers tend to be more charitable and kind, but their families don t seem to care as much about them. The way their families treat them in both stories is negative. In Angela s Ashes Malachy and Angela are distant parents. Malachy drinks and doesn t bring money home. In Frank s teenage years his father leaves for London one day and never comes back. When Frank s little siblings die his mother closes herself off and refuses to eat or drink or even get out of bed. Even Frank s grandparents, aunts and uncles treat him and his siblings poorly. They are viewed as outsiders on his mother s side for being from the north and on his father s side for being from the south. Frank and his siblings are seen as outsiders in even their own families because of who they are. Their own families seem to be their greatest critics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. Analyzing Audit And Fraud Risks Analyzing Audit and Fraud Risks Audit risk, as defined in SAS No. 47, under Audit Risk and Materiality in Conducting an Audit , is the kind of risk that an auditor may unknowingly take by failing to make corrections as per their opinions on financial statements that are materially misstated (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). SAS represents audit risk in the form of a model that comprises three different risks. There is the control risk, the inherent risk and detection risk. This is known as the Audit Risk Model (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). As a way of increasing awareness of possible fraud, SAS No. 82 Consideration of Fraud in a Financial Statement Audit , was issued in 1997 (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). This SAS does not modify the basic ARM, but it expands on the guidance for the auditor s consideration of material fraud in conducting financial statement audits. The SAS increases an auditor s ability to detect fraud in an organization. Since the issuance of SAS No. 47, many other approaches of developing the ARM have been issued (Riahi Belkaoui, and Picur 34). One such approach is the belief function framework that is used to model the audit planning and evaluation process for accounts receivable. While using such an approach, it is easier to demonstrate the viability of the auditors. The approach also serves as an expert system to automate belief functions propagations in networks. More so, sensitivity analyses have been performed to identify the significance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Perceptions Of Grammar On Grammar Results To answer RQ1, the perceptions of grammar in speaking from both NS teacher and NNS students have to be found by analyzing the answers from the interview Q2, Q4 and Q5. The results show that, in terms of the perceptions towards grammar in speaking, NS teacher do differ from NNS students. NS teacher s answer shows that grammar was very important in speaking, during the interview, when she was asked about Q4, she said: ...You speak with few repeated errors, you can never be completely like a native speaker. but there is not clear patterns of errors. Patterns errors for example, Chinese people always leave out articles, or always messing up with tense. Well, for a perfect ESL learner who is at high level, they would leave out articles occasionally, but not always. And tense, they have a good grasp of the tense. For example. When asked about Q5, she answered: ...The accent isn t really an issue, but speakers who speak fluent English with lots of grammar mistakes, that s not perfect English. So if the accuracy of the language... if the person is making lots of grammar mistakes, that s very far from being a perfect speaker . She underscored the importance of grammar in speaking and she also thought accent was not an issue for NNS. This finding echos Kormos Dénes study (2004), which indicates that accuracy (grammar), plays an important role in fluency judgment. However, opposite answers were found in the NNS students answers. Even though there was one student Mary said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Opec And The Price Of Oil OPEC and the price of oil The organization of the petroleum exporting countries or OPEC was created at Baghdad Conference in Iraq in September 1960. The founding members of organization were Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. These five states were later joined by nine other countries: Qatar (1961), Indonesia (1962), Libya (1962), United Arab Emirates (1967), Algeria (1969), Nigeria (1971), Ecuador (1973), Gabon (1975), and Angola (2007). Ecuador and Gabon withdrew from the organization in 1992 and 1994 as Indonesia in 2007 respectively. OPEC relocated its headquarters from Geneva to Vienna in 1960. The purpose of OPEC, as with any cartel, is to limit supplies in the hope of keeping the price high. The oil industry has been plagued by production booms and falling prices ever since Colonel Drakes discovery of oil at Titusville, Pennsylvania in 1859. Just as major oil companies colluded from the 1920 s to the 1960 s to present prices and profits from falling, members of OPEC meet at a regular basis to set production levels in the hop of maintaining prices. The essential nature of oil (no substitutes) coupled with its limited number of suppliers make it the ideal product monopoly. When OPEC was formed in 1960, its main goal was to prevent its compromise the world s largest oil producers, refiners, and marketers from lowering the price of oil, which they had always specified, or reported. OPEC members sought to gain greater control over oil prices by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
