Glaucon s View Of Justice
Justice is a concept that has been debated for thousands of years, from the Greeks to modern western
society. Most people strive for justice, yet most would disagree with the answer of what is justice and
how do we achieve it. Not only do proponents of justice need to offer clarification, they must also find
the most foundational question in ethics, is it good in itself or is it a means for other things only.
Glaucon argues that justice is not intrinsic, rather we only care about justice because it leads to a better
life, in order to prolong the debate with Socrates; Socrates would tell you that justice is virtuous as an
end not as a means. This is the dilemma brought up in The Republic: Book II, in which Glaucon truly
wanted Socrates to prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without justice the city crumbles is unhealthy, and that is how he declares justice being paramount to
Glaucon and the other friends. Virtue to Socrates is the only way to achieve eudaimonia, Greek for
happiness, good fortune, flourishing, and more. And I can concur with that, what I have a problem
with is his system of government, his way of achieving justice on a city scale, and thus you as an
individual should strive for it. It does not disprove justice, rather we should look to improve the
argument, much like other religious philosophers have tried to improve Ansam s ontological
argument. Socrates assumes that people know and naturally do what they should do for the rest of
their lives. People almost never know what they actually want to do, as we see college students switch
their majors around a lot, thus breaking the social rules of Socrates s ideal city, crumbling the
sociometric classes. Enough people will not be happy with such rules, creating an uproar big enough
to destroy the city s system. Destroying the city s system would by definition destroy the city, which
means that it will not be a just city, nor a city at all. Disproving the argument for justice, but not
disproving justice, nor part of his argument that states that you must have justice in the ideal city to

I. Abstract
The purpose of this water experiment is to compare two sources of waters and see if they would affect
the growth of beans. For the purpose of this test, multiple samples were implemented to gather results
with as much accuracy as possible. Every two days a study of our beans was conducted. Measuring
the growth/length of each bean. 40 samples were used. The team hypothesized that the water from
Foster Lake would grow plants faster than the water from Kanakadea Creek due to the bio diverse
nature of the lake and its inhabitants. The results gathered show a surprising find in this study.
II. Introduction
Water is the most natural thing we have on earth. It sustains many organisms and those organisms
depend on it almost daily. Plants are such organisms. For this study the focus is the growth of beans.
Over the course of two weeks my team and I conducted research comparing the two types of waters
that were selected and seeing if they had any significant differences in growing beans. The first week
was inconclusive due to bean rot and negligence. Test two led to a more constant observation of
growth and change of location. Results gathered from this experiment have shown a difference that
different waters may have on the growth of plants. Beans that consumed certain water sources

Assistant Project Manager Cover Letter Essay
Bill/Jordan, I am writing to notify you that I am regretfully providing two weeks notice and will be
resigning from my position as Assistant Project Manager with Layne Christensen. This is not an easy
decision but I have to do what is best for my family. When I accepted this position, I was under the
impression that I would be evaluated after a six month period. I took a pay cut of approximately
$10,000 annually to accept a role in the office. I had to adjust our budget to accept this position, but I
knew it would pay off in the future. I bet on myself and my work ethic as I always do, and I was
positive I would prove to everyone that I could handle a bigger role. I believe I did that in a shorter
period than anyone was anticipating. Then came marriage, a second kid, hospital bills, etc. ... Show

was able to learn the industry from the ground up. I learned many things that are not taught in the

the dangers and obstacles our guys face on a daily basis in the field. You also learn the importance of

The Coward In Act Of Solitude By Joyce Carol Oates
A coward is defined as someone who lacks the courage to take action, a person who is unwilling to do
anything unpleasant. A coward refuses to stand up for what is right or what is good because they are
afraid of the consequences, they are afraid that they themselves will be hindered because of their
actions. In Act of Solitude by Joyce Carol Oates, Chester Jensen exemplifies a man lacking courage.
He is a man unwilling to do the right thing or do anything at all because he is afraid of the
consequences. One instance in which Chester illustrates his cowardice nature is through his
relationship with his wife, Diane. Chester remarks that he does not love anyone, and yet, at the same
time he loves Diane, or so he says. He and Diane were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

forward, and there was muffled outcry, and the heavy thud of the black man s body against the fender,
then against the door, and then tires skidded on the wet pavement and squealed, but held; and next
thing he knew, Chester was a half block away, seeing, blurred in the rearview mirror, the black man s
body spiraled motionless in the street. He kept going, he didn t look back (8). Chester never stops to
look back and see if the man is merely injured or if he is dead, he never calls the police; rather, he
continues driving on. In fact, instead of admitting to mistake he made Chester projects blame on the

face. The police don t protect us, they ve abrogated all responsibility. I didn t realize he was standing

confessing to the crime he commits, Chester eventually returns to the scene of the crime and performs
penance by handing out money to beggars just like the one he ran over. He does this in order to ease

1. Abstract:
In the vision of the Internet of Things (IoT), an expanding number of installed gadgets of various
kinds (e.g., sensors, cellular telephones, cameras, smart meters, brilliant autos, traffic lights, savvy
home appliances, and so forth.) are currently fit for imparting and sharing information over the
Internet. Despite the fact that the idea of utilizing inserted frameworks to control gadgets, instruments
and apparatuses has been proposed for practically decades now, with each new era, the continually
expanding abilities of calculation and correspondence posture new open doors, additionally new
difficulties. As IoT turns into a dynamic examination zone, distinctive strategies from different
perspectives have been investigated to advance the improvement and notoriety of IoT. One pattern is
seeing IoT as Web of Things (WoT) where the open Web norms are bolstered for data sharing and
gadget interoperation. By penetrating savvy things into existing Web, the customary web
administrations are advanced with physical world administrations. This WoT vision empowers another
method for narrowing the boundary in the middle of virtual and physical universes. In this paper, we

Yellow Woman And A Beauty Of The Spirit Summary
Silko uses a unique structure in her essay Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit to help her get her
points across to the reader. She uses the effectiveness of the structure to make her points clear,
convincing, but also engaging. She begins the essay by talking about how she is different. She
explains the past of her Great Grandfather to help explain why she is different. She continues to talk
about other family members throughout the essay that influenced her. These examples help make her
points clear and convincing. The structure is effective because of the evidence provided in her stories
that show how she overcame the feeling that she is different. Silko begins her essay saying how she
was different from her playmates as a child. From the time I was a small child, I was aware that I was
different. I looked different from my playmates. My two sisters looked different too. After she stated
this, she talks about why she was different from the other Laguna Pueblo people growing up by
explaining her great grandfather s past. Both brothers married full blood Laguna Pueblo women. ...

as we were all posed and ready to have our picture taken, the tourist man looked at me and said Not

Neil Postman The End Of Education Summary
Introduction:
Education in today s day in age has evolved to become an intricate system of developing individual
knowledge on social values and academic knowledge in the context of a technologically advanced
global society.
Neil Postman in his book, The End of Education, argues that the educational crisis is complex and that
the technical problem of building academic skills is just a scratch in the surface. Postman believed that
schools focused more on teaching economic utility, consumerism, multiculturalism and technology.
Postman (1995) also claims that schools in their methods and practices do not necessarily help
students in preparing for economic life and that there was no evidence that a quality schooling
experience could be associated with positive economic productivity (p.28). Moreover, Postman claims
that the value of group cohesion and connectivity with peers is lost with the individualization of
computer learning (1995, p.45). Postman believed that learning to accept the world with all its cultural
rules, requirements, constraints, and even prejudices; is one of the two things schools must be
teaching. The second being, students developing skills to be critical thinkers, which in turn makes
them rational, independent minded and problem solving adults (1995, p.60). Postman s views were
that education with technology is teaching about how technology assists and restricts students in doing
positive or negative things, how education was dealt with in the

Heart rate monitors provide immediate feedback on how hard you are working out so that you can
make adjustments to get the greatest benefit from your exercise. All exercisers can benefit from
monitoring their heart rate during activity, enabling them to maintain fat burning and aerobic target
zones based on their goals.
Example: during a cardio vascular training session you could wear a heart rate monitor to then see
how hard you are working to insure you re doing the max your body can do and once your heart rate

Therefore specific sections of the bodywork, such as the front wing, must be sufficiently rigid to pass
the FIA s ever more stringent deflection tests. The driver must be able to enter and get out of the
cockpit without it being necessary to open a door or remove any part of the car other than the steering
wheel. From his normal seating position, with all seat belts fastened and whilst wearing his usual
driving equipment, the driver must be able to remove the steering wheel and get out of the car within
five seconds and then replace the steering wheel within a further five seconds.
Example: formula 1 cock pits allow the driver to get a comfy seat position and allows the team who he
drives for to the sort out the aero dynamic features on the car. Cockpits are very important in formula
1 because it allows the driver to tell his team if there s an issue with anything or if anything needs
changing such as the front wing to create aerodynamic. If there is anything wrong then the team will
be able to make improvements for the driver.

The Truth Behind The Columbine Shooting
America s star detective Michael Moore has done it again! In this edition, he uncovers the truth behind
the Columbine shooting, and exposes the real menaces of America s society. Or this is what we are led
to believe...
The Columbine Shooting has solidified itself as a tragic event in America s past, and was a real wake
up call to the nation s age old gun problem. Michael Moore looks into this issue and decides it
provides a great premise for his next documentary, his next crusade to flush out the evils of this world.
The problem is, Bowling for Columbine is far from the truth; it is rather a distorted representation of
reality, carefully sequenced to push Michael Moore s agenda. If we look past the film techniques,
conspiracy theories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To offer an explanation as to how America got to this barbaric stage , an animated short, courtesy of
Matt Stone is played, which takes a satirical approach to the story of America s gun laws. The general
idea put across from this segment is that America s obsession with guns has transpired from a fear of
the black man; where it even went as far to suggest that the KKK negotiated with the NRA to restrict
black people s possession of a firearm. Moore then proposes that this fear has appeared in many
different forms, and that of which has been orchestrated by the government and large corporations to
boost consumerism. A hypothesis like this does seem plausible, however there is no tangible evidence
to reinforce this claim, just a lot of emotional appeal.
The majority of the documentary is spent proving this theory that Moore has ingeniously managed to
synthesise. Whether it is fear of the black man during slavery, fear of terrorists after 9/11 or fear of
teenagers after the Columbine Shooting; there is always a reason for America to worry. Moore shows
us that when people are scared, they look for ways to protect themselves, causing them to spend
money; shown by the increase in homeland security after 9/11, which also was apparently caused by
the CIA supplying Osama Bin Laden with weaponry and tactical training that was later used against
the USA. He then investigates the media s role in inflating these issues, stirring the

Apathy To Empathy
Moving from Apathy to Empathy
Apathy in general, is defined as: indifference, lack of interest, or concern for others. More specifically,
the dis ability to identify with others or feel their pain is the primary nature of those who are strong on
apathy.
Empathy, in contrast, is defined as having compassion and sympathy towards others to the extent of
being able to relate with them and their pains. Empathy is, also the ability to understand or feel what
the other person is experiencing or going through. It is the ability to step into the shoes of another
person, with the aim to understand their feelings and perspectives, and then to use that understanding
to guide our actions. That differentiates it from kindness or pity. Additionally, empathy ... Show more

We all usually have assumptions about others. That prevents us from appreciating their individuality.
We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences.
Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting into
practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him .
There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art of
listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the other
person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very moment. An
empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional state and needs.
When it comes to listening, it is quite important to look and grasp even the non verbal cues that will
enable us to truly understand other person s emotional state of mind. It indirectly initiates an
introspection to question our own thoughts, beliefs and actions. This will enable us to take steps
towards building better

The Great Northwoods Essay
The Great Northwoods
As with all things, the history of an event does not begin at its conception. With this in mind, it is my
intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the Nicolet
National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with the early
explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet. These French
explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as Wisconsin. Men like
them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European nations with the quest for
empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. In addition, attention ... Show

With the failure of agriculture to take a firm hold, the conservation movement led the government to
purchase large tracts of land in an effort to save what little was left of the great forests of Wisconsin.
Fires had become rampant within the region, lives were being lost, and the government became
determined to correct the situation. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the
years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression brought about untold suffering for
many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National Forest. People needed work, and the
government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a
National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. The years immediately proceeding World War II
brought back economic security for many, and left a legacy of many industrial accomplishments as
well as non industrial accomplishments such as the Nicolet National Forest. In conclusion, the manner
that I have chosen to write this paper was presented to me by my sources. Of the few sources that I
was able to garner dealing solely with the Nicolet National Forest, each followed the same general
outline. And, since importance was stressed upon these areas already by established historians, I felt
that it should not be ignored.
The first major exploration that bears particular relevance to the Nicolet National Forest begins with
the exploits of James

The Epic Of Legend And Heroic Figures
The Journey To Greatness For centuries, tales of legends and heroic figures were written in Greece.
These tales were about everything from the conquering of unknown lands to the quarrels of god like
beings. Although, these legends are widely praised for bravery in fearless leaders , Ancient Greeks had
another theme of importance. Tales such as The Odyssey focused on heroes that still possesed fatal
flaws and were forced to accept their imperfections. In this way, the hero learns to embody excellence
in all things including their already given strength in battle, this is key component of most heroic
characters, Greek writers believed that a true heroic figure must well rounded in all aspects. The
Odyssey illustrates Odysseus s journey to his homeland, but at the same time also contained his
personal journey to excellence. Throughout his voyage, the epic portrays the motif of overcoming
hubris as an action of becoming a humble and well rounded leader. Odysseus gained the skills that he
needed in order to help the people of his city Ithaca, grow as well. This ideology remains true today in
the sense that a leader must possesses excellence in all qualities in order to make the country in which
he rules excellent; today society s citizens must follow a leader like Odysseus. When a leader
possesses arete that then influences the community he leads to embody those same traits as well.

The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of Osmosis...
Osmosis
Haley Klanke
BIO 120 923 Grand Valley State University klankeh@mail.gvsu.edu Abstract
In this study we constructed we researched whether different sucrose concentrations affect the rate of
osmosis. In order to do this, we constructed artificial cells out of dialysis tubing filled with 20%
sucrose and 40% sucrose and weighed them every 10 minutes for 90 minutes. In doing so, we
concluded that the higher the sucrose concentration, the faster the rate of osmosis.
Introduction
Osmosis is the passive movement of water from an area of low solute concentration to an area of high
solute concentration, normally across a membrane which prevents the movement of solvent. This is a
process by which materials may move into, out of, or within cells. Osmosis doesn t depend on energy
provided by living organisms but is affected by the properties of the cell membrane. The rate of
osmosis is dependent on such factors as temperature, pressure, molecular properties such as size and
mass, and the concentration gradient. In osmosis, the relationship between a solute s concentration
outside of cell and inside of a cell is described in terms of the tonicity of the solution outside of the
cell. A cell is in a hypotonic solution when the solute is more concentrated inside the cell and therefore
water moves into the cell. In this solution the cell swells as water enters, this may continue until it
ruptures or hemolyzes. In the reverse condition, the cell is in a hypertonic solution

Narrative Essay About Football
Football is a brutal, physically demanding sport that people only see the jocks or meatheads
participating in. In fact, it is much more than that. Football is a sport that requires intelligence,
discipline, and courage. As a teen, I was a miserable and angry young man. If it wasn t for the game of
football I wouldn t be the goofy, warm hearted, and selfless guy I am today. My football career started
when I was a freshman in high school, turning sixteen years old. I came into the sport a fat, clumsy,
arrogant, and hot headed person. The transformation from that pudgy and rather angry child started the
first day I laced up my cleats for my high school football team. Football as an individual has taught
me sacrifice, teamwork, and leadership. My first day of practice, I trotted onto the field feeling like the
man. I thought that as the tallest and fastest person on the defense that I could single handedly make
every play thrown at us. From the first hike, I realized that I could NOT handle it all by myself. The
first play was a run right between the Tackles (a run straight up the middle with the two biggest
running backs on the team.) I was knocked back both physically and mentally. My coach came up to
me with an ass full of fire and a mouth full of chew that would projectile along with the spit that came
when he would yell. Are you crazy or stupid, son? were the exact words that he told me. He told me
that I would never be able to make that play all by myself. My job

Commerce: In the days of Tenochtitlan s true glory and magnificence, food was very hard to come by

A Report On The Sub Machine Gun
Introduction:
From the incident, it can be reasonably suggested that the weapon must be small and concealable with
a quick fire rate in order to eliminate two targets at once. The perforating wounds, wounds with entry
and exit wounds, also suggest a high velocity firearm although the metal fragments in the wound from
Victim 2 imply the bullet can be easily fragmented. The Heckler and Koch MP7 sub machine gun with
4.6 x 30mm frangible SX ammunition coincides with this evidence, especially with the accompanying
accessories; a HK MP7 Silencer and Brasscatcher, which further benefits the shooter by creating
minimal disturbance and leaving negligible ballistic evidence behind.

Once firing began the shooter loses the sightline and accuracy to the target therefore the bullets begin
to spread out due to the recoil and the constant discharge of bullets. However due to the second victim
only having two wounds the gun must be able to operate in single shot as well as in an automatic
mode a sub machine gun. The weapon must be small and concealable as the firer had to travel to an
alleyway unnoticed; the HK MP7 has a length of 340mm with the stock closed (Maxim Popenker,
1999 2015), however adding the HK MP7 Silencer which is needed to reduce the noise from firing in
order to remain undetected in a potentially public area, the length increases by a further 222mm
(Airsoft 2015) making the overall weapon length over 700mm when firing. Due to this greater length
this makes the firearm much more difficult to hide which increases the chance considerably for the
target to react and disarm the shooter or escape.
The HK MP7 has a mass of 1.7kg with a 20 round magazine (Maxim Popenker, 1999 2015) hence a
suitable choice as it is easily manoeuvrable (being fairly light) which makes it simple to handle and
operate for all users. Although, due to the addition of the silencer and the brass catcher, the mass
increases to over 2.5kg thus becoming more awkward to carry and to hide discreetly, especially if the
shooter was a more petite build.
The HK MP7 can be used by the most novice of shooters with its

Capital Punishment During The Colonial Era
The public opinion within the United States on capital punishment has fluctuated since its early
establishment during the colonial era. The debate about the use of capital punishment has been shaped
by factors such as class, gender, age but most importantly race.
During the colonial era, Britain was the biggest influence on America when it came to utilizing the
death penalty. The death penalty was used for minor offenses such as stealing, killing animals, and

Zimring began to research executions by different regions in the United States and noted the
similarities between historical lynching trends and current patterns in the use of Capital punishment
(Gabbidon and Greene). Throughout the research Zimring conducted, he noticed that there was a
strong correlation between legal lynchings and death penalty executions after lynching were made
illegal. The data indicated through 1889 to 1918 that 88 percent of lynchings were carried out in the
South. In comparison, through 1977 to 2000 81 percent of executions were held in the South
(Gabbidon and Greene). In conclusion, Zimring believed that the death penalty is a racialized system
that has replaced lynchings. This created a renaissance of capital punishment between the 1920s and
1940s. During the 1930s, there was an average of 167 executions each year. These annual numbers
were similar to the number of lynchings recorded in the 1890s (Vandiver, Giacopassi, Lofquist, 2006).
After this era, the support for death penalty began to slowly decline, as 42% of people showed support
for the death penalty in the 1950s (Bohm,1999).
Following the decline in the support of the death penalty, a moratorium on executions began in 1972
during the case Furman v. Georgia. Furman argued that the death penalty was arbitrary and violated
the constitution (Mallicoat and Brown 255 280). In a five to four vote, the Supreme Court

The great awakening events were several stages of the religious life of the United States. We identify
four stages which are characterized by a Protestant claim plus interest in the religion, higher members
of the evangelical churches as well as religious movements. Notably, the great awakening to refer to
different periods of great religious expansion in Protestant Christianity in the United States. One of the
forerunners of the great awakening was his pioneering Edwards, but like all religious revival is no
doubt that this originated in both the social and emotional events of his time and place as the reaction
progress of materialism in the colonial culture . The great awakening was like a revolution for change
and profess religious revival in which the sanctity of religion is defended and transmitting a religious
revival across the population.
The First Great Awakening began in the 1730s. Edwards was involved in revivals and the ministers of
various evangelical Protestant denominations choose to support this cause. The first awakening was a
role played an important role in the democratic thought of the same way of believing freedom of
information should be shared fully and without control. So this awakening that represent first African

How Christians Interpret And Celebrate The Last Supper Today
Holy Communion is very important in Christian worship. This is the occasion on which the priest
distributes bread and wine. This is one is of the seven Sacraments. A Sacrament is a physical act with
a spiritual meaning. It takes the form of a ceremony intended to reveal and to give a greater sense of
closeness to God. The spiritual meaning of Holy Communion is togetherness with God and each other.
During Holy Communion the priest takes the bread and wine, gives thanks to God, breaks the bread
and then gives them to the worshipers. This is known as the Fourfold Eucharistic actions. Eucharist
means thanksgiving. So the Eucharist or Holy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This serves the purpose of remembering the Last Supper and also brings a feeling of closeness with
God, Jesus and each other. It will also remind Christians of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Holy Communion has four main meanings. The first is remembrance. Holy Communion
commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Corinthians 11:23 25 writes that Jesus took and
broke the bread, referred to it as his body and said, Do this in remembrance of me. Similarly after the
supper he took a cup and referred to it as, the new covenant in my blood and said, Do this whenever
you drink it, in remembrance of me.
The second is participation. Jesus did more than just take and break the bread and take and pour the
wine. He gave these things to the disciples to eat, thus he was involving them in the last supper. So
today the Last supper is more than just a commemoration, where we remember a past event, it is a
communion in which we participate in the remembrance and share in its benefits.
The apostle Paul wrote: is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the
blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? (1
Corinthians 10:16)
This show that in Holy Communion we are meant to participate and share in

Essay on Merton s Strain Theory
In Merton s (1938) strain theory social structures account for the criminal tendencies found in
offenders. Individuals adjust to societal pressures in five distinct ways. Adaptation I, which entails
conforming to both culture norms and means, is the most common. The popularity of this adaptation
allows a society to function effectively. In contrast, adaptation IV is the least common and gives rise
to the rejection of both cultural goals and means. Those that adopt this culture pattern are societal
misfits and usually include some such persons as psychotics, psychoneurotics, chronic autists,
vagrants, and chronic drunkards or drug addicts.
Sykes and Matza s (1957) control theory postulates that acts of delinquency are generally not ... Show

Second, he could deny injury, which means he does not see his actions as harmful. Third, he may deny
there was a victim. In short, the victim had it coming or deserved it. Fourth, he could condemn the
condemners. For example, he may blame the legal system and accuse it of being the real criminals.
Fifth, he could appeal to higher loyalties. In short, adhering to the loyalties of a small group rather
than the society at large.
Gottfredson and Hirschi s (1990) control theory regards parental controls as key in developing self
control, which is related to crime. People who show low self control tend to live in the here and now,
whereas those who have better self control like to defer gratification. For example, criminal acts
provide excitement, have few long term benefits, and require little preparation. Moreover, they cause
pain to their victims, which is correlated to being self centered and insensitive both qualities of people
with low self control.
A major cause of low self control is improperly raising a child (Gottfredson and Hirschi, 1990). In
fact, research has shown that affection, supervision, and discipline have all been absent from the
homes of delinquents. In order to teach children self control someone must at least monitor the child s
behavior, recognize deviant behavior when it occurs, and punish this kind of behavior.
In strain theories the nature of man is regarded as a product of external

Conspiracy Theories Behind Marilyn Monroe s Death
The news of Marilyn Monroe s death began to spread. Newspapers were seen everywhere with her
bright, smiling face and the giant, bolded letters of death stamped on the front pages. Even The New
York Times published a newspaper article titled Marilyn Monroe Dead, Pills Near. In this article, Dr.
Theodore J. Curphey, the coroner, declares Monroe s death to have not been from natural causes: After
an autopsy the Los Angeles coroner reported that Miss Monroe s was not a natural death. He attributed
it to a drug ( Marilyn Monroe Dead, Pills Near ). Her death seemed to be the typical case of
overdosing on barbiturates with traces of chloral hydrate which are both sedatives or sleeping pills
(Los Angeles County Coroner s Mortuary, 1962). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no actual confirmation besides untrustworthy gossip that Marilyn Monroe succeeded past
those attempted phone calls. Her calls to Washington were never accepted, she was always sent to
voicemail. Even if it were true; if she did manage to make contact and had an affair with either/both of
the Kennedy s, her autopsy report negates any sort of foul play. Expert medical examiner Dr. Judy
Melinek confirms that Monroe s autopsy aligns with the signs of self induced overdosed. Any sort of
needle or forced injection would have been spotted by the coroner immediately, If drugs are injected
by a needle you can typically see a needle puncture mark in the location of the injection, and this
would be more likely to be visible if they were injected against the will of the person, as they would
be fighting/resisting (Melinek, 2018). Dr. Melinek also points out that it would be quite normal that no
residue from the medication would have been found in Monroe s stomach if enough time between her
death and her arrival to the morgue had passed, The absence of residue found in the stomach does not
mean the drugs were not ingested. Drugs are designed to dissolve in the fluid and acidic stomach
contents and no residue would be detected within several hours of ingestion (Melinek, 2018). With
this expert testimony confirming Marilyn Monroe s autopsy reports as legitimate leaves the official
cause of death by possible suicide by overdose as

Analysis Of Out Of The Attic By Briann G. Greenfield
Likewise, many historians consider the importance of studying the Colonial Revival from a material
culture lens. Alan Axelrod articulates, Objects play a central role in the processes of the Colonial
Revival. Similarly, Briann G. Greenfield s Out of the Attic: Inventing Antiques in Twentieth Century
New England, suggests an extension of this idea of the centrality of objects. It is, in effect, a
celebration of material culture as it relates to a larger historical context. Greenfield effectively
describes the evolution of historical and aesthetic use of antiques from the 1900 s onward. Acts of
collecting, selling, and displaying the antiques are points of interest in her collection of essays. She

Chapter three presents Jessie Barker Gardner and George Gardner as twentieth century antique
collectors based in Providence New England. The couple were small time, middle class antique
collectors. They were interested in the philanthropic area of collecting. The Gardner s sought to make
a connection between the collegiate space and the museum. Eventually, the Gardner s donated many
of their most prized collectables to Brown University. They implemented very crafty and effective
sales techniques. Their goal was to subvert the market and capture the antiques at bargain prices.
Though Jessie and George Gardner relished the pursuit of collecting and philanthropy, it was almost
always about the profitability. This discussion offers a connection to Thomas Denenberg s use of
Wallace Nutting. Like Nutting, the Gardner s excelled in a plethora of marketing techniques and
entrepreneurship. She further links the importance of consumer culture that Denenberg alludes too.
Chapter four is devoted Henry Flynt and his efforts in historic preservation and antiques in Deerfield,
Massachusetts. He, too, believed that historic objects reflected American patriotism. He criticized
Williamsburg and Deerfield as being restored or preserved villages.
Conversely, under his direction, Deerfield, Massachusetts became a natural preservation. This chapter
further mentions companies

The Tearoom Trade
Review: The Tearoom Trade Impersonal Sex in Public Places
Laud Humphreys
Humphreys, L. (1970). Tearoom Trade: Impersonal Sex in Public Places. Aldine Publishing Company
Chicago.
Tearoom Trade: the use of a public restroom as a place where men of all varieties go to engage in
homosexual activity. By engaging in such activity they must accept costs and risks of this behaviour,
however will receive a significant reward. As explained in Humphreys book, men involved in the
tearoom game, use these facilities because of the social process that is structured to allow him to have
a sexual encounter without any outside personal involvement with other participants. With the many
rules in Tearooms, men find them much more attractive as it provides a certain protection against his
social image, as this type of behaviour can be seen as very inappropriate and rather illegal. The
Tearoom Trade as a sexual deviant activity.
Laud Humphreys, a sociologist, was dissatisfied with the idea of producing a study so mundane that
only focuses on individuals who engage in deviant activity but nothing about how they participate in
the deviant world. Humphreys found that the idea of deviant behaviour explored in terms of sociology
explains it as organised behaviour that is important to the individuals that engage in the activity, yet
not seen as a subculture. Therefore, Humphreys sets out to analyse the personal significance of the
Tearoom Trade to the participant. And this is the foundation of

Accurate History Of The United States
Accurate History in Textbooks
In the United States, November is a month leading up to a feast where we all give thanks to the people
we love and care for; as well as giving thanks to the people who helped the first settlers survive during
the harsh winter in a new world the Native Americans. While citizens of this country feast on
Thanksgiving Day, they may not take into consideration the systematic murders of America s native
peoples in order to get to where we are today. This is because the history of how the United States
became a sovereign nation has been twisted into a biased account, which is taught in the American
school system. This problem has lead to a society with racism deeply ingrained in our culture, and
ignorance about the actual events which took place in efforts to demolish the Native American culture
and their history. It is time to end this mentality in our school system, and to end the racism that has
been in our society through decades and decades of misinformation found in our textbooks and public
institutions. If this nation is ever to heal from the millions of lives taken in order for us to live on this
land, we must implement plans for our school system to better include what exactly happened to our
native peoples, rather than twist truths and distort the reality of America s history to cover up the white
man s crimes and guilt.
In the year 1492, Christopher Columbus set sail and landed in what is now known as Bahamas,
claiming it for Spain. He

everything about life and things around them. For instance, we can see a 14 years old posting about
life. Similarly, some of the students use Facebook as a dating site. They add people and start taking to

Vaults In Roman Architecture
With the invention of concrete, the Romans perfected making the arches and were able to create
domes and vaults. The arch was and is still used as design for openings, entryways, doors and bridges.
The vault is simply and arch with an increased in depth as seen in construction of their ceilings. The
construction of vaults was used in the construction of imperial palaces and public buildings to create
vast interior spaces. The Union Station in Washington D.C. is an example modern architecture with
vaulted ceilings. The Roman basilica was a building in which judicial, commercial and governmental
activities took place. It became the primary model for architectural design of modern Christian
churches. These buildings usually has center nave with porticos along an aisle at each ... Show more

The center of the dome in Pantheon has an opening of 27 feet, which is enough for sunlight to enter as
it lights the earth and it also allows rain and air to enter to provide cooling inside the building. The
Byzantine Empire adopted this in their architecture and was followed during the Renaissance period.
The Setia Corporate Headquarters in Shah Alam, Malaysia is an example of modern building with
oculus. The same in Pantheon the oculus is open and it allows the water during rainy season to enter
the building and is collected into its fountain. The oculus illuminates the dark walled interior and
creates a dynamic reflection on its marbled floor and glass walls. Pompeii is a town in Ancient Rome
that has been frozen in time. Through systematic excavation the people discovered the amount of
colors on the walls of the buildings particularly in the villas of rich citizens and public buildings. They
have painted their walls with architecture, still life, mythological scene or any decorative patterns.
These paintings used a technique called fresco in which it is executed on wet plaster. The Romans

  • 2. Glaucon s View Of Justice Justice is a concept that has been debated for thousands of years, from the Greeks to modern western society. Most people strive for justice, yet most would disagree with the answer of what is justice and how do we achieve it. Not only do proponents of justice need to offer clarification, they must also find the most foundational question in ethics, is it good in itself or is it a means for other things only. Glaucon argues that justice is not intrinsic, rather we only care about justice because it leads to a better life, in order to prolong the debate with Socrates; Socrates would tell you that justice is virtuous as an end not as a means. This is the dilemma brought up in The Republic: Book II, in which Glaucon truly wanted Socrates to prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without justice the city crumbles is unhealthy, and that is how he declares justice being paramount to Glaucon and the other friends. Virtue to Socrates is the only way to achieve eudaimonia, Greek for happiness, good fortune, flourishing, and more. And I can concur with that, what I have a problem with is his system of government, his way of achieving justice on a city scale, and thus you as an individual should strive for it. It does not disprove justice, rather we should look to improve the argument, much like other religious philosophers have tried to improve Ansam s ontological argument. Socrates assumes that people know and naturally do what they should do for the rest of their lives. People almost never know what they actually want to do, as we see college students switch their majors around a lot, thus breaking the social rules of Socrates s ideal city, crumbling the sociometric classes. Enough people will not be happy with such rules, creating an uproar big enough to destroy the city s system. Destroying the city s system would by definition destroy the city, which means that it will not be a just city, nor a city at all. Disproving the argument for justice, but not disproving justice, nor part of his argument that states that you must have justice in the ideal city to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The River, The Lake, And The Beans The River, The Lake, And The Beans. Ronnie Rosario Elvira Rodriguez Nermin Moustafa Matthew Barnhart Doing Science (127) Dr. Beaudry and Dr. Hluchy I. Abstract The purpose of this water experiment is to compare two sources of waters and see if they would affect the growth of beans. For the purpose of this test, multiple samples were implemented to gather results with as much accuracy as possible. Every two days a study of our beans was conducted. Measuring the growth/length of each bean. 40 samples were used. The team hypothesized that the water from Foster Lake would grow plants faster than the water from Kanakadea Creek due to the bio diverse nature of the lake and its inhabitants. The results gathered show a surprising find in this study. II. Introduction Water is the most natural thing we have on earth. It sustains many organisms and those organisms depend on it almost daily. Plants are such organisms. For this study the focus is the growth of beans. Over the course of two weeks my team and I conducted research comparing the two types of waters that were selected and seeing if they had any significant differences in growing beans. The first week was inconclusive due to bean rot and negligence. Test two led to a more constant observation of growth and change of location. Results gathered from this experiment have shown a difference that different waters may have on the growth of plants. Beans that consumed certain water sources ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Coward In Act Of Solitude By Joyce Carol Oates A coward is defined as someone who lacks the courage to take action, a person who is unwilling to do anything unpleasant. A coward refuses to stand up for what is right or what is good because they are afraid of the consequences, they are afraid that they themselves will be hindered because of their actions. In Act of Solitude by Joyce Carol Oates, Chester Jensen exemplifies a man lacking courage. He is a man unwilling to do the right thing or do anything at all because he is afraid of the consequences. One instance in which Chester illustrates his cowardice nature is through his relationship with his wife, Diane. He kept going, he didn t look back (8). Chester never stops to look back and see if the man is merely injured or if he is dead, he never calls the police; rather, he continues driving on. In fact, instead of admitting to mistake he made Chester projects blame on the black man and the police He provoked me, I lost control. He taunted me. Rubbing that filthy rag in my face. The police don t protect us, they ve abrogated all responsibility. I didn t realize he was standing so close. I didn t realize I would hit him (8). These actions are the actions of a coward. She explains the past of her Great Grandfather to help explain why she is different. She continues to talk about other family members throughout the essay that influenced her. • 8. Neil Postman The End Of Education Summary Introduction: Education in today s day in age has evolved to become an intricate system of developing individual knowledge on social values and academic knowledge in the context of a technologically advanced global society. Neil Postman in his book, The End of Education, argues that the educational crisis is complex and that the technical problem of building academic skills is just a scratch in the surface. Postman believed that schools focused more on teaching economic utility, consumerism, multiculturalism and technology. Postman (1995) also claims that schools in their methods and practices do not necessarily help students in preparing for economic life and that there was no evidence that a quality schooling experience could be associated with positive economic productivity (p.28). Moreover, Postman claims that the value of group cohesion and connectivity with peers is lost with the individualization of computer learning (1995, p.45). Postman believed that learning to accept the world with all its cultural rules, requirements, constraints, and even prejudices; is one of the two things schools must be teaching. The second being, students developing skills to be critical thinkers, which in turn makes them rational, independent minded and problem solving adults (1995, p.60). Postman s views were that education with technology is teaching about how technology assists and restricts students in doing positive or negative things, how education was dealt with in the ... • 10. The Truth Behind The Columbine Shooting America s star detective Michael Moore has done it again! In this edition, he uncovers the truth behind the Columbine shooting, and exposes the real menaces of America s society. Or this is what we are led to believe... The Columbine Shooting has solidified itself as a tragic event in America s past, and was a real wake up call to the nation s age old gun problem. Michael Moore looks into this issue and decides it provides a great premise for his next documentary, his next crusade to flush out the evils of this world. The problem is, Bowling for Columbine is far from the truth; it is rather a distorted representation of reality, carefully sequenced to push Michael Moore s agenda. If we look past the film techniques, conspiracy theories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To offer an explanation as to how America got to this barbaric stage , an animated short, courtesy of Matt Stone is played, which takes a satirical approach to the story of America s gun laws. The general idea put across from this segment is that America s obsession with guns has transpired from a fear of the black man; where it even went as far to suggest that the KKK negotiated with the NRA to restrict black people s possession of a firearm. Moore then proposes that this fear has appeared in many different forms, and that of which has been orchestrated by the government and large corporations to boost consumerism. A hypothesis like this does seem plausible, however there is no tangible evidence to reinforce this claim, just a lot of emotional appeal. The majority of the documentary is spent proving this theory that Moore has ingeniously managed to synthesise. Whether it is fear of the black man during slavery, fear of terrorists after 9/11 or fear of teenagers after the Columbine Shooting; there is always a reason for America to worry. Moore shows us that when people are scared, they look for ways to protect themselves, causing them to spend money; shown by the increase in homeland security after 9/11, which also was apparently caused by the CIA supplying Osama Bin Laden with weaponry and tactical training that was later used against the USA. He then investigates the media s role in inflating these issues, stirring the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Apathy To Empathy Moving from Apathy to Empathy Apathy in general, is defined as: indifference, lack of interest, or concern for others. More specifically, the dis ability to identify with others or feel their pain is the primary nature of those who are strong on apathy. Empathy, in contrast, is defined as having compassion and sympathy towards others to the extent of being able to relate with them and their pains. Empathy is, also the ability to understand or feel what the other person is experiencing or going through. It is the ability to step into the shoes of another person, with the aim to understand their feelings and perspectives, and then to use that understanding to guide our actions. That differentiates it from kindness or pity. Additionally, empathy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We all usually have assumptions about others. That prevents us from appreciating their individuality. We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences. Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting into practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him . There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art of listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the other person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very moment. An empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional state and needs. When it comes to listening, it is quite important to look and grasp even the non verbal cues that will enable us to truly understand other person s emotional state of mind. It indirectly initiates an introspection to question our own thoughts, beliefs and actions. This will enable us to take steps towards building better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Great Northwoods Essay The Great Northwoods As with all things, the history of an event does not begin at its conception. With this in mind, it is my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet. These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. With the failure of agriculture to take a firm hold, the conservation movement led the government to purchase large tracts of land in an effort to save what little was left of the great forests of Wisconsin. Fires had become rampant within the region, lives were being lost, and the government became determined to correct the situation. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression brought about untold suffering for many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National Forest. People needed work, and the government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. The years immediately proceeding World War II brought back economic security for many, and left a legacy of many industrial accomplishments as well as non industrial accomplishments such as the Nicolet National Forest. In conclusion, the manner that I have chosen to write this paper was presented to me by my sources. Of the few sources that I was able to garner dealing solely with the Nicolet National Forest, each followed the same general outline. And, since importance was stressed upon these areas already by established historians, I felt that it should not be ignored. • 13. The Epic Of Legend And Heroic Figures The Journey To Greatness For centuries, tales of legends and heroic figures were written in Greece. These tales were about everything from the conquering of unknown lands to the quarrels of god like beings. Although, these legends are widely praised for bravery in fearless leaders , Ancient Greeks had another theme of importance. Tales such as The Odyssey focused on heroes that still possesed fatal flaws and were forced to accept their imperfections. In this way, the hero learns to embody excellence in all things including their already given strength in battle, this is key component of most heroic characters, Greek writers believed that a true heroic figure must well rounded in all aspects. The Odyssey illustrates Odysseus s journey to his homeland, but at the same time also contained his personal journey to excellence. Throughout his voyage, the epic portrays the motif of overcoming hubris as an action of becoming a humble and well rounded leader. Odysseus gained the skills that he needed in order to help the people of his city Ithaca, grow as well. This ideology remains true today in the sense that a leader must possesses excellence in all qualities in order to make the country in which he rules excellent; today society s citizens must follow a leader like Odysseus. • 14. The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of Osmosis... Osmosis Haley Klanke BIO 120 923 Grand Valley State University klankeh@mail.gvsu.edu Abstract In this study we constructed we researched whether different sucrose concentrations affect the rate of osmosis. In order to do this, we constructed artificial cells out of dialysis tubing filled with 20% sucrose and 40% sucrose and weighed them every 10 minutes for 90 minutes. In doing so, we concluded that the higher the sucrose concentration, the faster the rate of osmosis. Introduction Osmosis is the passive movement of water from an area of low solute concentration to an area of high solute concentration, normally across a membrane which prevents the movement of solvent. This is a process by which materials may move into, out of, or within cells. Osmosis doesn t depend on energy provided by living organisms but is affected by the properties of the cell membrane. The rate of osmosis is dependent on such factors as temperature, pressure, molecular properties such as size and mass, and the concentration gradient. In osmosis, the relationship between a solute s concentration outside of cell and inside of a cell is described in terms of the tonicity of the solution outside of the cell. A cell is in a hypotonic solution when the solute is more concentrated inside the cell and therefore water moves into the cell. In this solution the cell swells as water enters, this may continue until it ruptures or hemolyzes. In the reverse condition, the cell is in a hypertonic solution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If it wasn t for the game of football I wouldn t be the goofy, warm hearted, and selfless guy I am today. My football career started when I was a freshman in high school, turning sixteen years old. I came into the sport a fat, clumsy, arrogant, and hot headed person. The transformation from that pudgy and rather angry child started the first day I laced up my cleats for my high school football team. Football as an individual has taught me sacrifice, teamwork, and leadership. My first day of practice, I trotted onto the field feeling like the man. I thought that as the tallest and fastest person on the defense that I could single handedly make every play thrown at us. From the first hike, I realized that I could NOT handle it all by myself. The first play was a run right between the Tackles (a run straight up the middle with the two biggest running backs on the team.) I was knocked back both physically and mentally. My coach came up to me with an ass full of fire and a mouth full of chew that would projectile along with the spit that came when he would yell. Are you crazy or stupid, son? were the exact words that he told me. He told me that I would never be able to make that play all by myself. My job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. A Report On The Sub Machine Gun Introduction: From the incident, it can be reasonably suggested that the weapon must be small and concealable with a quick fire rate in order to eliminate two targets at once. The perforating wounds, wounds with entry and exit wounds, also suggest a high velocity firearm although the metal fragments in the wound from Victim 2 imply the bullet can be easily fragmented. The Heckler and Koch MP7 sub machine gun with 4.6 x 30mm frangible SX ammunition coincides with this evidence, especially with the accompanying accessories; a HK MP7 Silencer and Brasscatcher, which further benefits the shooter by creating minimal disturbance and leaving negligible ballistic evidence behind. The weapon must be small and concealable as the firer had to travel to an alleyway unnoticed; the HK MP7 has a length of 340mm with the stock closed (Maxim Popenker, 1999 2015), however adding the HK MP7 Silencer which is needed to reduce the noise from firing in order to remain undetected in a potentially public area, the length increases by a further 222mm (Airsoft 2015) making the overall weapon length over 700mm when firing. Due to this greater length this makes the firearm much more difficult to hide which increases the chance considerably for the target to react and disarm the shooter or escape. The HK MP7 has a mass of 1.7kg with a 20 round magazine (Maxim Popenker, 1999 2015) hence a suitable choice as it is easily manoeuvrable (being fairly light) which makes it simple to handle and operate for all users. Although, due to the addition of the silencer and the brass catcher, the mass increases to over 2.5kg thus becoming more awkward to carry and to hide discreetly, especially if the shooter was a more petite build. • 21. Capital Punishment During The Colonial Era The public opinion within the United States on capital punishment has fluctuated since its early establishment during the colonial era. The debate about the use of capital punishment has been shaped by factors such as class, gender, age but most importantly race. During the colonial era, Britain was the biggest influence on America when it came to utilizing the death penalty. The death penalty was used for minor offenses such as stealing, killing animals, and trading with Indians. As the late 1700s approached, a movement towards abolishing the death penalty began. Beccaria wrote an essay in 1767 called Crimes and Punishment, that had a significant impact on the world s opinion towards the death penalty (Bohm,1999). Beccaria suggested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zimring began to research executions by different regions in the United States and noted the similarities between historical lynching trends and current patterns in the use of Capital punishment (Gabbidon and Greene). Throughout the research Zimring conducted, he noticed that there was a strong correlation between legal lynchings and death penalty executions after lynching were made illegal. The data indicated through 1889 to 1918 that 88 percent of lynchings were carried out in the South. In comparison, through 1977 to 2000 81 percent of executions were held in the South (Gabbidon and Greene). In conclusion, Zimring believed that the death penalty is a racialized system that has replaced lynchings. This created a renaissance of capital punishment between the 1920s and 1940s. During the 1930s, there was an average of 167 executions each year. These annual numbers were similar to the number of lynchings recorded in the 1890s (Vandiver, Giacopassi, Lofquist, 2006). After this era, the support for death penalty began to slowly decline, as 42% of people showed support for the death penalty in the 1950s (Bohm,1999). Following the decline in the support of the death penalty, a moratorium on executions began in 1972 during the case Furman v. Georgia. This is the occasion on which the priest distributes bread and wine. This is one is of the seven Sacraments. A Sacrament is a physical act with a spiritual meaning. It takes the form of a ceremony intended to reveal and to give a greater sense of closeness to God. The spiritual meaning of Holy Communion is togetherness with God and each other. This serves the purpose of remembering the Last Supper and also brings a feeling of closeness with God, Jesus and each other. It will also remind Christians of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Communion has four main meanings. The first is remembrance. Holy Communion commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Corinthians 11:23 25 writes that Jesus took and broke the bread, referred to it as his body and said, Do this in remembrance of me. Similarly after the supper he took a cup and referred to it as, the new covenant in my blood and said, Do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. The second is participation. Jesus did more than just take and break the bread and take and pour the wine. He gave these things to the disciples to eat, thus he was involving them in the last supper. So today the Last supper is more than just a commemoration, where we remember a past event, it is a communion in which we participate in the remembrance and share in its benefits. The apostle Paul wrote: is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Individuals adjust to societal pressures in five distinct ways. Adaptation I, which entails conforming to both culture norms and means, is the most common. The popularity of this adaptation allows a society to function effectively. In contrast, adaptation IV is the least common and gives rise to the rejection of both cultural goals and means. Those that adopt this culture pattern are societal misfits and usually include some such persons as psychotics, psychoneurotics, chronic autists, vagrants, and chronic drunkards or drug addicts. In short, adhering to the loyalties of a small group rather than the society at large. Gottfredson and Hirschi s (1990) control theory regards parental controls as key in developing self control, which is related to crime. People who show low self control tend to live in the here and now, whereas those who have better self control like to defer gratification. For example, criminal acts provide excitement, have few long term benefits, and require little preparation. Moreover, they cause pain to their victims, which is correlated to being self centered and insensitive both qualities of people with low self control. A major cause of low self control is improperly raising a child (Gottfredson and Hirschi, 1990). In fact, research has shown that affection, supervision, and discipline have all been absent from the homes of delinquents. In order to teach children self control someone must at least monitor the child s behavior, recognize deviant behavior when it occurs, and punish this kind of behavior. Expert medical examiner Dr. Judy Melinek confirms that Monroe s autopsy aligns with the signs of self induced overdosed. Any sort of needle or forced injection would have been spotted by the coroner immediately, If drugs are injected by a needle you can typically see a needle puncture mark in the location of the injection, and this would be more likely to be visible if they were injected against the will of the person, as they would be fighting/resisting (Melinek, 2018). Dr. Melinek also points out that it would be quite normal that no residue from the medication would have been found in Monroe s stomach if enough time between her death and her arrival to the morgue had passed, The absence of residue found in the stomach does not mean the drugs were not ingested. Drugs are designed to dissolve in the fluid and acidic stomach contents and no residue would be detected within several hours of ingestion (Melinek, 2018). While citizens of this country feast on Thanksgiving Day, they may not take into consideration the systematic murders of America s native peoples in order to get to where we are today. This is because the history of how the United States became a sovereign nation has been twisted into a biased account, which is taught in the American school system.
