The Beetles In The 1960 s
Great music can sometimes can turn just an ordinary day into something magical,
spiritual even. The effects music has on the human mind, can spread further; right
through our genetic code and throughout our bodies. With all the good that can come
with music, negative effects are not too far behind. Musichas been the center focal
point for parents and politicians alike to use it as a scapegoat to help push their
political and parent agenda. To help mold children and adolescents into something
they were never meant to be. From the controversy surrounding The Beetles in the
1960 s, to the force suicide allegations of heavy metal band Judas Priest in the last
80 s and even as recent as the Columbine Massacre in Littleton, Co in 1999 that was

If anyone tries to link gangster rap with gun violence will inevitably look within
the United States. A country where drive by shooting, street killings, violent rap
lyrics and the death of 3 of the most profound artists to grace the hip hop scene
have graced the cover of newspapers and made headlines for the better part of 20
years. I honestly believe that gangster rap was just a reaction to the violent nature
of society, and not the cause of it. Former SLOTUS (Second Lady of the United
States) led the field of politicians when she rose to rose to prominence for her work
with the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC). Voicing her strong opinions and
advocating censorship, for the labeling of record covers of releases featuring
profane language, especially in the heavy metal and hip hop genres. The committee
formed in 1985 with the stated goal of increasing parental control over the access of
children to music deemed to have violent, drug related or sexual themes via labeling
albums with parental advisory stickers. Many groups answered back with criticism
and parodies from bands like NOFX, Danzig, Ice T and Megadeth. Lead guitarist and
co founded Dave Mustaine stated in an interview with Spin magazine that Hook in
Mouth declaims censorship and the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC).
Mustaine elaborated that the lyrics were aimed at those who were f*cking around
with our constitutional rights and trying to
Promote Americanism In School
What can I Personally do to Promote Americanism in my School or Community?
Americanism is a word that we should all be familiar with. It is something that
defines this country and the people in it. Americanism to me is being courteous
and gracious to the country that you live in. In my essay, I will be talking about
what it means to have a flag in the classroom, community service, and how to be a
citizen of your town/city. My first main point is what it symbolizes to have a
school flag in the classroom. I believe that every classroom, big or small, should
have an American flag to support our country and be proud to live in it. This is
one of the many ways to show that you service the people that have sacrificed their
lives for us. The 50 stars represent the 50 states that are free because of them. They
are American heroes and the flag is representing that we will never forget them.
They are one with the flag. Believing in this, there should be a flag in practically
every corner.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on where you live, community service is different for everyone. But
despite where your community is, there is always a way to help out and contribute.
Community service is a way to show that you as a citizen, are grateful to live in a
community that supports you and you would like to keep that tradition going in the
town. Community doesn t have to be a thing to get into a good school. It should be
something to do out of respect for your family and the people that you care about

Beastie Boys Research Paper
When I first browsed through the different topics on which we were to write
essays on, I was ecstatic when I saw one about rock and roll. Once I started
skimming through all the bands and artists I know and love, I knew there would be
no problem writing this essay. I firmly believe that I was born in the wrong
generation of musicbecause I am a hardcore oldies junkie at heart. For this reason, the
bands I have selected are as follows: The Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, The Police,
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, and The Righteous Brothers.
One of the main reasons why I adore the Beastie Boys like many others is because
of their care free energetic aura that they mix together with captivating sounds
discretely concealing rhetorical puns. What makes them especially unique to me is
their transformation from a rowdy party punk band to a mixture of pop, rock, and hip
hop. In addition to a change musically, it was clear that their maturity shifted
alongside it. This eventually led the band to use its widespread popularity and ...

Although you could say I am partly biased due to the fact that he was born and
raised in the great state of Arkansas. Nonetheless, his music is loved by people all
over the country for several reasons. For example, probably the biggest reason why
people loved Johnny Cash is because of his humble personality which caused all of
his songs to feel very down to earth which related to a multitude of people from all
classes. From experiencing many struggles in his own life, Cash was able to
translate his own emotions and thoughts into lyrics with rhythmic beats that attracted
the average individual who shared the same feelings. Even though I am not able to
see him in concert since he passed away, listening to his live recorded songs makes
me realize that the rock and roll icon still lives through the music he poured his life
Deontological Ethics
Deontological Ethics in Location based Social Media There are so many location

without these features. There are applications that tell me where is the closes gym

driver to taxi me wherever I want to go. And of course, all these can be shared on
facebook or various other social networking sites. With the narrowing gap of our
online presence and real life, these bring on various questions on the data that we

In the gadget world, this has been a huge issue with every handset manufacturer
suing eachother, wanting courts to put injunctions on their products so they don t
have a competition. The end result might be that the company sells few more
gadgets but stifles the competition hurting the users. The flipside is true for these
manufacturers. While these intellectual properties specific process might be easy
to judge, design processes are subjective. When companies sue and win injunctions
on other gadgets because they look alike would be immoral in that while they
reach an end result they might prefer, they are going about in an obscure way. The
users will have to use these services with their moral conscience as well. A user
could encounter a service at a restaurant that they pay for that is not up to the
standards; they can post up on Yelp or similar review sites about that restaurant.
These reviews are valuable to the restaurants and they will do the best they can to
please the customers. If the reviews are malicious in nature, they will not be moral.
However, if the review is a critique of the restaurant in a manner that it will bring
light to the issues, it will be moral. Moral absolutism states that some actions are
absolutely right or wrong. If providers are not clear with their intentions on how to
use the user s location based data
Regarding Henry Analysis
The movie Regarding Henry tells the story of a man named Henry who is shot and
subsequently loses his memory. The movie follows him as he treks through his
recovery, picking up bits and pieces of his past along the way as he tries to recall
the events that make him who has grown to be. His family and friends encourage
him as he searches for clues of his past and attempts to build himself up once again.
One day, Henry goes to buy a packet of cigarettes. After walking in at the wrong
time and angering a robber, he gets shot in the chest and head. He s left to bleed out
on the sidewalk, but somehow ends up in a hospital. Henry s intense recovery
involves him relearning everything he once knew, from walking to holding a

After he regains basic functions and he s tossed into the outside world once again,
he acts like a little kid much different from his former self. He does silly things
such as purchasing a puppy without the family s consent, not taking in any factors
of responsibility of owning a pet and instead focusing on the physical appeal of the
puppy. After his daughter is sent off to school, Henry s id overcomes him and he
convinces his wife to allow the daughter to come home. Henry displays times
where his Superego is dominant; however, this is only after instances where he s
thrown into adult situations such as going back to work. His actions when he s
alone and even a few moments with adults show that his Id is more prominent in
his honest form. The largest reveal of Harry s Id is when he neglects to reveal to
his wife that he, too, had an affair previous to the gunshots. Henry was selfish in
this way, keeping a secret from his family to keep the current balance they had.
Confronted with guilt, Harry pushes the need to confess away. This action comes
off as hypocritical considering he gave his wife a difficult time for her affair. His
solution shows a lack of respect for his wife as well as his immaturity at handling the
Worm Lab
Introduction Earthworms have light receptors that act like their eyes, and can tell
when they are in the dark versus in the light. Their nerves can detect light, vibrations,
and even some tastes, and the muscles of their bodies make movements in response.
They breathe through their skin. Air dissolves on the mucus of their skin, so they
must stay moist to breathe. If worms dry out, they suffocate. (Journey North,2017)
Worms are decomposers and break down the soil. They are helpful in gardens to mix
around the soil. Knowing these facts, this experiment tested their response to the
stimulus of a flashlight. The experiment was ran so there can be a deeper
understanding of how worms are in the wild. Answering questions... Show more

We hypothesized that the worms would move faster as the light increased. When
looking at the behavior chart, you can tell that not only they moved slower as the
light increased, they also showed signs of early paralysis. When the light was dark,
the first worm moved faster and further than the rest. Worm #1 stayed with the
barrier and wasn t bothered by the light. Worm #2 moved diagonally from the light
as if it were blind. Worm #3 did not move until after 60 seconds. Worm #4 moved
faster towards the 4 inch mark then stopped and turned back to start line. The data
provided shows that the hypothesis was wrong.
Conclusions
Unlike what was predicted, the worms moved slower each time the light power
increased. When the worms were exposed to the bright lights, that replicated the sun.
When worms are in the sun for too long, their skin begins to dry out and they become
paralyzed and die. (Journey North, 2017). It can be theorized that when the worms
saw the flashlight, they were stunned, and/ or thought they were in danger and that is
why they moved slower. During the experiment, the light was moved as to follow the
worm, next time the experiment is performed, the light should stay stationary.
Additionally, there needs to be more certainty that a different worm was used in each
Essay about Learning to Ride a Bike vs. Learning to Drive
Hell on Wheels Palms sweating, heart racing, knees wobbling, mind spinning, and
you re frantically trying to take control. It s your first set of wheels and they are
just begging to be taken for a spin around the block. There s just one itty bitty little
problem: it s your first time. It doesn t seem to matter if it s the first time you ride a
bike or the first time you get behind the wheel of a car, the sensations can be
enough to drive you wild. Even though the rush of adrenaline and the sense of
power may have felt identical, learning how to ride a bike and learning how to
drive a car may have differed in more ways than most of us remember. While bike

Before I got behind the wheel for the first time, memories of my father and his red
pickup truck flooded into my mind. He used to let me sit on his lap and steer
while he worked the gas pedal, and we would just drive in circles for hours. But
somehow, it didn t end up being as easy as I remembered it to be. I thought I was
prepared for my first hands on driving lesson; I had done rather well on all of the in
class quizzes over laws and basic driving information, I knew where everything in
the car was, and I had been asking a couple family members for some helpful tips I
might need. Unfortunately, all the homework and advice in the world isn t near
enough to prepare you for the first time you really drive. Having a driving
instructor with you in the car feels somewhat like being stalked by a vulture; your
every move being meticulously monitored as they wait for the precise moment to
swoop down and strike when you re the most vulnerable. By the end of the
mandatory three weeks, all the yelling, crying, and the over usage of the
emergency brakes had done more than enough to scar me for life, but supposedly, I
was now prepared to go out and drive in the real world. It s conceivable that, in
some ways, learning how to drive is much easier than learning how to bike; the
required classes teach you all the laws and basic information about driving that you
need to know, while bike riding is something you have

Woolworths Case Analysis

BACKGROUND OF WOOLWORTHS
Woolworths began life in what had been the dining room of the old Royal Hotel in
Cape Town on a sunny October morning in 1931 as a clothing store and was founded
by Max Sonnenberg.
In 1934 Woolworths opened a second branch in Durban, followed in 1935 by
branches in Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg. Shareholders who bought Woolworths
stock in 1936 at 75c a share would have seen that stock grow to many, many times its
original price as the Woolworths brand has become an entrenched icon in South
African retail. Since 1936 the product range had expanded from clothing and shoes to
include food, cosmetics, gift items, accessories, mobile phones, an extensive range of

Woolworths and Edgars have more adolescent ranges. In terms of price they
Woolworths would compete with stores like Foschini and Truworths.
In the food industry Woolworths focus on having quality food everyday and all the
time. They are known for their fresh produce and pride themselves on their cold
chain concept where food is always stored between 5 and 0 degrees Celsius. They
typically compete against supermarkets such as Shoprite, Spar and Pick n Pay
obviously has a wider variety of groceries.
Woolworths also has a coffeeshop in certain store outlets where they use products
from their food market to prepare the meals. They would obviously compete against
nearby restaurants in the shopping centre and in the nearby area.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE DIFFERENT WOOLWORTHS STORES
I frequently visit the Woolworths branches located in Paarl, Tygervalley and Eikestad
Mall. All of them contains a food market, but only Paarl mall contains a coffee shop.
All though the layout of the stores are pretty much the same, female wear on the
left, male on the right shoes and accessories in the middle and the food store and
coffee shop is located at the back, they all differ in the unique way the store owner
wants them to.
The variety and assortment in merchandise also differs. Seeing that Tygervalley s
branch is the biggest more merchandise assortment is located in
Human And Natural Drivers Of Climate Change
Climate Change in relation to Architecture
Tallis Holloway s5015034
There are many human and natural drivers of climate change, cities and buildings in
particular are increasingly affected by risks linked to rapid environmental changes
and their impact themselves on the atmosphere however architect s can help limit
many contributing factors. This paper examines the role of this profession,
architecture s contribution to climate change mitigation/adaption and how architect s
can assist in limiting the threat of global warming thus enforcing sustainability.
Architect s provide information to clients and management about design, size,
materials and costs associated with new buildings and alterations to existing
buildings. They further associate with compiling and analysing data on economic,
legal, political, cultural, demographic, sociological, physical and environmental
factors affecting land use (ANZSCO 2009, Minor Group 232).
The role of this profession and the management of new sustainable buildings can
manage the alterations to the climatic equilibrium, thus contribute to mitigate and
adapt to these shifting conditions.
Building s trigger large amounts of CO2, causing them to consequently contribute a
vast majority of the energy consumption worldwide , however new advanced design
strategies and sustainable technologies can be incorporated into existing/new building
s in order to decrease emissions, mitigating long term impacts and adapt to short term

Brutality and Deceit in A Streetcar Named Desire Essay
A Streetcar Named Desire is a socially challenging play in light of the way in which
Tennessee Williams depicts the capacity of human nature for brutality and deceit. He
takes the viewpoint that, no matter how structured or civilized society is, all people
will rely on their natural animal instincts, such as dominance and deception, to get
themselves out of trouble at some stage in life. William s has created three main
characters, BlancheDubois, StellaKowalskiand Stanley Kowalski. Each of these
characters is equally as civilized as the next, yet all are guilty of acts of savagery on
different levels. Throughout the play Williams symbolically relates these three
characters to animals, savages, through the disclosure of... Show more content on

Finally, Stanley rapes Blanche because he has tried and tried to keep her down to
his level (Kagan 26) but she cannot go there. The rape is his way of getting her
there. In the powerful scene where Stanley loses total control of his actions and
strikes the person whom he has sworn to protect, love and cherish, William s shows
Stanley s lack of control and hatred of the new threat in his life, Blanche. What
makes this scene so important to the topic is the way that the three characters react
once the party has broken up. Blanche is in her usual state of panic; Stella has
retreated upstairs, while Stanley stumbles around calling out Steeelllaaa in a
drunken sweaty animal like manner. Surprisingly Stella answers her mate s calls
and embraces him, the two of them exchanging words of compassion and kisses.
Stanley then picks up Stella and carries her off to his den to make love, which is
Stanley s way of apologizing. Stanley has to be the dominant male figure in all his
relationships, not only with Stella and Blanche, but with his friends as well. He is a
leader and instantly rises to the challenge whenever his status is threatened.
Williams uses a different type of savagery in Blanche s character. Blanche is more
deceptive and exaggerated than Stanley, trying to hide the effects of her hard life
from others through constant bathing, avoiding bright lights and by lying, and from
herself, by drinking.

Speech On Pollution
Pollution should be banned from society and our planet. This may be a topic that
is discussed all the time, but we need to wake up and make changes now. Some of
our world s most pollutants places have damaging effects, such as birth defects, the
loss of thirty to forty IQ points, and life expectancy may be as low as forty five
years because of cancer and other diseases. This is enough reason alone to continue
to address the problem of pollution. Pollution is when the air, water, land, and
environment is made dirty and unsafe to use. This is done by contamination of the
natural environment, which can be tangible to intangible. According to a non profit
organization named Pure Earth, toxic pollution affects more than two hundred
million people worldwide. These pollutants are created from different elements and
affect our society and the human race in several ways. There are many types of
pollutions, such as air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, food pollution,
and land pollution that have been affecting our world greatly and the human race
that live in it. One type of pollution is Air pollution. Air is one of the most
important elements of our environment for our survival. It is a natural gift and a
free asset. It is polluted in many ways. Land vehicles use oil and fuel, which create
smoke. The smoke gets mixed with air and thus pollutes air. Mills, factories and
industries are also held responsible for air pollution because they create smoke. Air

How Did John D Rockefeller Change The Economy
The United States has come to be known as a major world superpower throughout
history. One of the main parts of America that has contributed to its renowned
strength has been its economy. The United State s economy has been growing ever
since it began. Credit for its strength and progress in development can be attributed to
the financial geniuses of their time. John D. Rockefellerbecame an economical giant
during his time when he changed the face of business by developing ground breaking
new strategies to ensure financial success. Rockefeller dramatically changed the
business field during The Gilded Age. He did so through the use of his social
Darwinistic philosophy of capitalism, inclusion of vertical and horizontal integration,

By establishing these set shipping rates with the railroad companies, it not only
made it impossible for his competitors to stay in business, but it also allowed
Rockefeller to establish a strong relationship with a key method of transportation
for shipping products (Biography). By establishing a strong relationship with the
railroad companies, Rockefeller was able to use his successful business practice to
control over 90 percent of the nation s oil refining industry by 1880 (The New
Tycoons). As time continued on and his business became more successful, he also
applied another clever business strategy known as vertical integration. This
process consisted of a company purchasing and controlling each and every step of
one s industry production process. Rockefeller s company used this process very
efficiently as they became known to manipulate crude oil prices to drive refineries
to bankruptcy, allowing him to buy them cheaply (Epstein). By controlling each
production step, he was able to minimize costs by removing any companies from
the middle that were previously completing steps on the way to the finish product.
Rockefeller was also known to manipulate prices of crude oil in order to drive his
competing refineries into bankruptcy which allowed him to buy them cheaply
(Epstein). However, his economic beliefs and ideas were not the only strategies
which John Rockefeller used to elevate his business and personal profile to a national
level and

Liquidity Ratios: Overall Tootsie Roll has better liquidity. Liquidity measures the
short term ability to pay obligations as they are expected to be due within the next
year. When working capital is a positive number, there is a higher likelihood that
the company will be able to pay it liabilities. Is this case Tootsie Roll is more likely
to be able to pay their liabilities because they have a positive working capital and
Hershey s is negative. The current ratio indicates the ability to pay on maturing
obligations and to be able to meet unexpected cash needs. Again in this case Tootsie

Solvency is the ability to pay interest as it comes due and to repay the face value of
debt at maturity. The only questionable value is Tootsie Roll s their free cash flow.
Debt to total assets ratio measures the percentage of assets financed by creditors
(not stockholders). Debt finance is more risky than equity finance because they
must be paid whether a company is doing well or not. Tootsie Roll has a 28% debt
to total assets ratio while Hershey s is 71% indicating that Hershey is taking a
higher risk. Cash debt coverage ratio indicates the ability to repay liabilities from
cash generated from operations without having to liquidate assets such as property,
plant, and equipment. Although the values of both companies are close, Tootsie
Roll has a higher ability to generate cash from operations to repay liabilities. Times
interest earned ratio shows an indication of a company s ability to meet interest
payments as they come due. Tootsie Roll has a much higher probability of meeting
the interest payments as they are due. Free cash flow is the cash remaining from
operations which indicates the company s ability to generate cash. In this case
Hershey has a much higher free cash flow amount which indicates they have a higher
ability to generate cash. This calls into question Tootsie Rolls ability to repay long
term obligations. Profitability Ratios: Every value in the profitability
Between Horatio Alger Myth In It s A Wonderful Life And...
The two movies of the week, It s a Wonderful Life by Frank Capra and American
Beauty by Sam Mendes are a perfect portrayal of the American values in a positive
and a negative way as I will explain in my discussion. Both movies got the idea of
the Horatio alger myth, which is the American dream that everybody by hard work
and determination can be successful and make it to the top to money and fame.
Success in both movies is portrayed differently for example in It s a Wonderful Life
success was not the money and fame and the typical hollywood portrayal of success,
but family and homeland, which are related to the german idea of heimat, which is
the value of home. However in American beauty the typical American success was
portrayed, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However following the basic american dream idea in the film American beauty and
chasing money lead to a dystopian end and family destruction, which is a
cautionary tale that money is not the most important thing in life, but family ties
and connections. All the families in American beauty were psychotic, unstable and
terrifying, which shows the effect of the American myth on people that it destroys
relationships as I mentioned by the family being torn apart and just faking that it s
a happy family, everything went downhill. To explain the idea that the american
dream is just a false myth, In American dream at the end of the movie nothing
came back to equilibrium after the chaos so the end was dystopian, this is because
the family ties were not strong and money and fortune were the main goals. In
contrast in It s a wonderful life, the equilibrium of the narrative was resorted and
the end was utopian by the happy family gathering. The idea of the male gaze was
presented in both movies to show male sexuality and urge and portray women as a
subject of joy. Few examples were Riky looking at Jane from the window, Lester

Sympathy In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letter
Evil is Not Worthy of Sympathy Could anyone feel sympathy for a groveling, sly
demon? The demons did have a hard job, but it was a despicable job of choice. In
The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis, Screwtape busily instructs his nephew,
Wormwood, who scrambles to trip up his patient, and bring the man to hell.
Throughout the book, everyone should plainly realize that neither Screwtape nor
Wormwooddeserved pity or sympathy in the least. The first reason for this is that the
demons malevolence revealed itself plainly in the book. Secondly the demons hate
for all that is good and innocent reared its ugly head, snarling in the reader s face.
Finally, the pitiable, vile, cruel plans of the demons wiped out any lingering
sympathetic feelings in the reader. The demons were purely cruelty. In chapter eight
and nine, the demons mention the trough periods through which Christians must

The long, dull, monotonous years of middle aged prosperity or middle aged

Christian s life and turn it into a purposeless, repeating roll play. He wanted to

true hope and life and joy there is in this world. Do not be alarmed, though,
because God is stronger that the demons and He, having oddly destined these mere
animals to life in His own eternal world, has guarded them pretty effectively from
the danger of feeling at home anywhere else. Screwtape admits that God insures his
children a place in his forever home and an everlasting joy. Additionally, Screwtape

Personal Strengths and Weaknesses Essay
Personal Strengths and weaknesses Writing about my personal strengths is a
challenging task that requires me to focus on the strong points that make up my
character. While, however; speaking on my weaknesses, tend not to be such a
problematical task. Trying not to speak in such a modest way about oneself, yet

makeup the positive force that drives my everyday being. However, to attack my
weaknesses, is to challenge myself to take control over the areas that require some
redefining of certain skills in order to achieve ultimate success in life. My life is not

Automotive Technician Essay
What do they do: Service technicians maintain, inspect, and repair small pickups and
cars. Automotive technicians have duties to complete on the vehicle. Most
technicians identify problems by diagnosing the car or truck by eye or by the
diagnostic port located in the vehicle. The next big thing a mechanic would have to
do is to check the part for its functionality. If it is not functioning they then have to
come up with a plan to fix it. Most if not all mechanics/technicians do is perform
standard check. Example tires, brakes, and wheels. Technicians also must be capable

How to become one: To become an automotive technician you need an education
many employers will require that you go to an institute even if you go to a vocational
school. Even if you do go to a school you ll still get onsite training. Many auto
mechanics must have licenses, registrations, and certifications to become a
technician. For example many auto mechanics are ASE certified (Automotive service
Excellence). This will be a key certification to become a technician and be successful.
Auto mechanics also must have certain qualities. Examples customer service skills,

Manuel Noriega Research Paper
Central America s everlasting theme of violence, drugs and poverty influence the
way many see as a culture of darkness and crime. The great leader of Panama,
Manuel Antonio Noriega, was born in Panama City, Panama on February 11,
1934. Noriega s early path seemed to be winding its way towards failure after
being born into a very poor family and abandoned at the age of 5. These emotional
and physical hardships could have determined the rest of his life, but Noriega did
not allow these events to shape his future. Through hard work and sacrifice, he was
awarded a scholarship to the Chorrillos Military School in Lima, Peru, one of the
most renowned high schools in all of Central America.3 His major in education was

The Evolution of Digital Film
In order for digital film to exist like it does today it had to evolve from something.
Digital film evolved from Film or celluloid film as it is originally more recognized. I
have a few questions that I wish to cover early on and continue to develop as time
goes on. What is digital Cinema and what are the advantages and or disadvantages of
it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it originate from ? Why did digital
film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to come or will it
transition to something else ?.
Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and
camphor. Celluloid can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called
Alexander Parkes. Parkes has been found to be the first person who was granted
the first patent which described a plastic material which he called Parkesine . (1)
However it wasn t actually Parkes that patented celluloid. John Wesley Hyatt an
inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their material as celluloid.
So celluloid originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid was
actually created to become a replacement for the use of ivory in many products.
However is made its way into film industry later on. This was primarily down to
the work of John H. Stevens. John H. Stevens was a chemist at the Celluloid
Manufacturing Company . (1) He discovered that a material know as amyl acetate
was a solvent for diluting celluloid (1) This discovery
Boeing Airlines And The Defense Market Essay
Company s Market
Boeing may only be one company, but they compete in two different markets:
commercial airlines and the defense industry. The main competition in the
commercial airline market is Airbus. Airbus and Boeing seem to have the commercial
airline industry in a chokehold basically having no other competitors. Since the
industry has high barriers to entry they will not see much competition anytime soon.
Boeing is the American leader in commercial airplanes and Airbus is the European
leader, which means they are constantly battling. Their competing aircrafts are the
Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. Both companies have many variations of their
respected aircraft and according to Business Insider, Airbus A380 outranks the
Boeing 747 based on cost, range, size and luxury.
The defense market, Boeing aligns itself in is more complex than their commercial
airline market. Boeing s main competitor in this market is Lockheed Martin and
Raytheon Company. Even though all these companies may compete, each with
each other they often create joint ventures because the defense industry requires a
diverse product mix that one company may not be able to fulfill. One example of
these ventures is when Boeing and Lockheed Martin come to together to own
/operate Hellfire Systems, LLC which allows for both companies to sell AGM 114
Hellfire Missiles. This missile is used in the United States Army, Navy and Air Force
so this is a very profitable venture for both Lockheed Martin and Boeing.

The writers further explained the detection algorithms for both the sensors: for
magnetometers, a raw data is obtained which went through 6 different mathematical
steps including oscillation prevention, noise reduction, and accuracy detection. This
will finally give 5 state machine stages which will correspond to the track of local
minimums and maximums and will depict if a vehicle is passed. Ultrasonic sensors,
works simply on distance measurement from object to sensors. A flowchart was
shown which worked on 2 important factors i.e. Distance_threshold(DiT) and
Duration_threshold(DuT). Both DiT and DuT values are dependent on the
placement of sensors in the parking lot and if is less than required, a counter is
activated until desired value and as the value exceeds, a vehicle is detected.
Now comes the experimental results value which were divided into four different
sections: Sensing experiment, they conducted experimentations on all the 6 sensors

Apollo 13 Research Paper
Introduction
Apollo 13 was the third NASA mission to attempt to land on the moon. Apollo 13
was set to launch on April 11, 1970. A sequence of events caused the three astronauts
to abort their mission, and they were forced to return to Earth. Almost three days
after launch there was an explosion in the second oxygen tank in the service module.
This explosion caused the first tank to rupture a valve. Apollo 13 spacecraft began to
lose oxygen rapidly. The loss of oxygen lead to rapid loss of power and water.
Astronauts Lovell, Haise, and Swigert concerns were now, how are we going to get
back to Earth?.
Key Terms
Fra Mauro: Crater (area) on the moon that Apollo 13 was going to land on and
explore.
Lunar Module (LM): A small craft used for traveling between the moon s surface and
an orbiting spacecraft formerly known as lunar excursion module or LEM.
Service Module (SM): A detachable compartment of a spacecraft carrying fuel and
supplies.
Command Module (CM): The detachable control portion of a manned spacecraft.
Main B Bus Undervolt: Source where devices share the same electricity. Allows
signals to be transferred.

The Impact of Economic Meltdown on the Nigeria

ABSTRACT
This study tends to unravel the effects of economic meltdown on employee
productivity in the Nigerian banking system using the August 14, 2009 CBN
intervention into commercial banks (as a result of the meltdown originating from
unsecured credits and poor bank management in the Nigerian commercial banking
system) as a benchmark to analyze the effects. Data was collected from journals,
interviews and direct data from specific units of the bank. The appraisal of the staff of
Intercontinental Bank was used to assess performance under the first hypothesis. The
second hypothesis tends to seek the staff opinion on effects of policy changes in the
system and their performance. The study suggests that the economy ... Show more

In this research work, the impact of the economic meltdown and recent banking
reforms in Intercontinental Bank Plc has been critically analyzed and its impact on
employee performance will be identified and ways to ensuring a positive productive
effect will be discussed.
2.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
There has been a number of banking reforms in Nigeria with varying attendant
effects. However, the effect of the current reform originating from the conspicuous
effect of the economic meltdown has become of great concern. While the reform of
2004 cannot be exonerated from its attendant casualties of job loss among others,
the current reforms seems to have raised some dust. Following the financial
stringencies in the economy and the role of banks in a depressed economy, the CBN
governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on August 14, 2009 relieved some banks
CEOs of their duties for wrong exercise of executive responsibility.
As the unexpected turn in financial market prevails, forecasting economic changes
is growing more difficult, employees which are the success tools of any
organization are in no small way impaired in their level of productivity. For most
bank employees in Nigeria today, the economic crisis has led to a wave of financial
anxiety. Most bankers start to ask themselves questions like, What if I lose my job,
will I be able to cater for my family and other needs?
The economic meltdown has put to threat job security and an enhanced sustainable

The Cult You re By Kalle Lasn
The phenomenon of consumerism is quiet powerful due to the impact on individual s
lives. Society has come to the point, happiness is associated with consumption.
However, the way consumerism works, is if the items being purchased gives
temporary happiness. There individuals are always buying the latest products to
remain happy. In the text, The Cult you re in Kalle Lasn, discusses a cult like nature
of consumerculture on Americans. Lasn uses the work cult as a metaphor; he does
not mean an actual cult but American consumers seem to be in a cult like nature.
The ideal example of Lasns argument is the text, The man behind Abercrombie and
Fitch , Benoit Denizet Lewis, goes in great depth of the life of the CEO, Mike Jeffries

Denizet Lewis states, Jeffries obsession with building brands began when he was
five. He grew up in Los Angeles, where his father owned a chain of party supple
stores for which a young Jeffries liked to organize and design windows and
counters (369) . Since Jeffries was a child, he wanted to build brands to attract
more people into the consumer cult. However, Jeffries wanted to be a type of
leader, to attract people as customers by marketing and branding practices. Lasn
quote is an example of the consumer and Denizet Lewis s quote is an example of
Jeffrey wanting to be a leader to attract consumers. However being a consumer or a
leader as is displayed in the quotes above, begins before one is even conscious about
it.
Teenage years are some of the toughest years a person may go through, on account
of it being all about the mindset and trying to fit in. The teen years or rebel years,
is usually spent in the mall with friends with the endeavor to get away with
stealing, drinking or doing drugs by the authorities. Basically, doing such acts that
one knows is forbidden, however if you get away with it, gives you a feeling of
having great power over authority figures. Lasn states, One day you act drunk and
trick them into arresting you only this time it actually is soda in the can. You are
immensely pleased with yourself (379) . In the rebellious years, getting the
authorities to believe one accomplished something bad, gives this feeling,
Small But Powerful Ad Analysis
Advertisements have transformed alongside the technology revolution by using
computer graphics (CGI) to draw in the consumer. Tide s Small but Powerful
commercial uses CGI to create hyperbole as a humorous addition to some facts
about the product in order to gain the attention of its viewers. Celebrities can be used
in a similar way to make a connection with the audienceby showing a familiar and
popular face. While the use of celebrities and hyperbole draw in the consumer and
make this commercial more memorable, they also provide a platform to that
connects the audience to the product, Pods. In this advertisement, Tide uses
Simone Biles, a well known Olympic gymnast, as an advocate of the product, Pods.
With the backdrop of a female narrator, Simone makes lockers fall, the ground shake
and performs other physics defying acts with the help of CGI, all to prove the point
that small things can be powerful too. The creators use the 4 8 Olympian as an

In a journal by Mark A. Callister and Lesa A. Stern, they say that in recent years,
depicting people, products, and objects in ways that far exceed their capability is a
common strategy used to gain attention, inject humor, and emphasize product
attributes. The commercial producers are trying to use this technique to show that
even though the pods are only a fraction of the size of normal detergent, it gets the
job done even better than the alternative. The commercial is metaphorically
comparing Simone s small stature to the modest size of each pod. Exaggerating
Simone s physical skills, in turn creates the thought in each viewer s mind that this
good will similarly outperform its capabilities on their clothes. Mark and Lesa s study
suggests that these kind of hyperbolic commercials are more powerful than ones that
do not use this persuasion
Art Vs Medieval Art
When looking at history and the art produced throughout history, it is interesting to
learn how it all started and how it changed throughout the centuries. Starting with
Prehistoric art leading to the periods of Early Medieval and the Romanesque. Then
when looking deeper at the art pieces created throughout the centuries, something that
stood out to me was how people were depicted and idealized. Starting with the
prehistoric artperiod, where there is only a few miniature sculptures that depict women
and men of that time. Then when looking at the Romanesque and Medieval art
pieces, the human bodyis more stylized and depicted differently. When looking at
these types of aspects, it makes me think about today and how people are either
admired or judged for their beauty and body image. Within this paper, I will be
focusing on the major art periods that we learned and explain how people were
physically depicted and idealized, and reflect on how it is still seen today, within
society and their standards.
Starting with the Prehistoric period, where some of the earliest art images were
created, people were depicted in miniature sculptures and ceramic pieces. They were
usually created small enough where people could hold them in their hands and carry
them around from place to place. Then when looking at pieces like these, they would
generally give basic depictions of characteristics within facial features, while the
humanly shape was something they focused more on. When looking at
Diversity in Law Enforcement Essay
Final Paper Diversity in law enforcement has grown to become a hot topic within the
law enforcement community. The demographic of society has changed dramatically
over the last 20 years and with that law enforcement has been changing, but have they
been changing enough? Different law enforcement agencies have their own ways of
implementing diversity in their practices and procedures, some of them are better
than others, but with issues that happen today it is important that they do something.
There have been major incidents in our generation that have caused the need for
diversity reform in law enforcement. The biggest incident was the attacks on the
United States of America that occurred on September 11th, 2001. The attacks that...

module is to (a) increase the MCC level; (b) build awareness among counselors about
the assumptions, values and biases towards other cultures; (c) improve the
understanding of the client s worldview and different culture; and (d) train counselors
to identify strategies and appropriate interventions as well as techniques in working

The Doors Biography Essays
The Doors Biography
From their beginnings during the summer of 1965 at Venice Beach, California, The
Doors were a band of creative energy, with most of the focus on Jim Morrison. His
looks and talents clearly tell why. Jim was well aware that the magic of The Doors
could never have happened without the fortunate talents of John Densmore, Robby
Krieger, Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison. Robby Krieger, for example, wrote lyrics
and music that sounded a lot like Morrison s work, such songs as quot;Light My

By April 1971, The Doors had recorded six landmark studio LP s and a two record
set of live performances. The first seven discs with producer Paul A. Rothchild and
the last one co produced by The Doors and their career long engineer Bruce Botnick.
The Doors and Elektra had grown into world famed institutions.
The band s un stated goal was to accomplish musical alchemy, to fuse rock music with
both existent poetry and improvisational theater. Jim was influenced by the
nineteenth century poet Arthur Rimbaud and he dutifully imparted Rimbaud s
philosophy to the group. Rimbaud advocated a systematic quot;rational derangement
of all the senses in order to achieve the unknown. quot;
Morrison was a man who would not, could not, and did not know how to
compromise himself or his art. He was driven to go all the way or die trying, the
ultimate ecstatic risk taker. Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore s contribution to this
state of creative bliss cannot be underestimated. Jim s improves onstage required the
other three Doors to not merely play arrangements but to follow Jim s unplanned

perceptive chords. Jim once said, quot; For me, it was never really an act, those so

Supremacist And Predicaments In Ted Hughes s Life
Supremacist and predicaments in Hughes s childhood clouded his envisioned
proficient future while molding him for the better. Racial experiences in his earlier
years would stick with him forever by shaping him into a confident artist
determined to expose the nation to his exquisite persona. Since Hughes lived during
racially hostile America, it is no surprise he had some memorable experiences. In
The Big Sea Hughes points out a situation when he was having trouble being
admitted into a school since no other black families were there (14). Likewise, in his
stories Hughes creates scenarios demonstrating the prejudice and racially orthodox
issues seen in America. Not only are these problems caused by non ethnics, but in his
writing he attacks
How Mauna Kea Should Remain Cultural And Not Allow
Project...
We are Mauna Kea Mauna Kea should remain cultural and not allow project TMT
(thirty meter telescope) on the mountain. According to Hawaiian legend, Mauna
Kea is the meeting place of Papa (Earth Mother) and Wakea (Sky Father) who are
first ancestors in Hawaiian history. We as Hawaiians view Mauna Kea as a temple or
house of worship. In our cultural understanding, it is believed that Mauna Keawas not
created by man, but by Ke Akua (God). Mauna Kea is both the burial ground and
the embodiment of the most sacred ancestors. This is why I am advocating that a
thirty meter telescope, or TMT does not belong on Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is a
volcano on the island of Hawai i that is sacred to Native Hawaiiansas an elder
ancestor and the physical embodiment of deities revered in Hawaiian culture and
religion. According to Kay Ala Kahaulelio, a Hawaiian astronomer and student at
University of Hawaii, he says, the sacredness of Mauna Kea is beyond what we can
comprehend in the human realm. It is so scared because it is the portal and the
closest temple where we can connect with our God. In Hawaiian genealogy, Mauna
Kea is perceived as the center of ones being. It holds burial grounds and is a place
where people scatter ashes of their loved ones. On Mauna Kea there are a total of 13
telescopes a number that I feel is too high that there are enough telescopes on Mauna
Kea. Currently, there are thirteen working telescopes being operated by astronomers
from 11 different countries, so why do

The Pros And Uses Of Information Technology
One of the fastest growing industries in the world is information technology (IT).
From waiting 2 minutes for your page to open; to waiting 5 seconds for your page to
open with everything loaded. While there is a bunch of good things the internet has
provided, there is also a bunch of cyber security threats out there. Everyone is prone
to cyber attack as long as you have an electronic device hooked up to the internet.
Organization and businesses now rely on the internet for transactions, storing
information, conducting work, and so much more. One major organization relying on
the internet is the military, also known as the Department of Defense (DoD). The
DoD faces many cyber attacks. While the DoD does face many attacks, they have
implemented securitymeasurements to thwart millions of cyber security threats.
Kirschbaum (2015) shows in his article that the DoD has started to reach out to
businesses to help secure their network more. The DoD today has become one of the
hardest networks to hack into.
The DoD is targeted due to the amount of sensitive information they hold that isn t
released to the general public. Personnel with the appropriate security clearance will
be granted access to this information if they have need to know. Adversaries try to
hack into the DoD to find this information. The information might contain troop
movements, personally identifiable information, building schematics, weapon
schematics, and other information that is deemed sensitive if released.
Test Tube # 13 Lab Report
Problem: An unknown bacteria in test tube #13 needs to be identified out of the list
of bacteria provided as possible.
Hypothesis: If different tests were carried out to identify the bacteria s characteristics,
then the bacteria could be identified, because a dichotomous key can be used to
eliminate all other bacteria in the list
Procedure:
1.Obtain an inoculating loop, Bunsen burner, test tube #13 and a test tube rack.
2.Gram Stain Test to determine the shape of the bacteria, it s orientation of growth,
and whether is gram negative meaning the bacteria lacks a cell wall, or gram positive
which means it contains a cell wall.
a.Obtain a clean slide, crystal violet, Gram s iodine, 95% alcohol, safranin, bibulous
paper, a light microscope along with materials from step 1.
b.Sterilize the inoculating loop in Bunsen burner and let cool.
c.Collect sample with the sterilized inoculating loop from test tube #13 after
uncovering and heating the top of the test tube, then spread onto a clean slide and let
it dry.
d.Heat fix the bacteria to the slide by passing the slide three times over the Bunsen
burner flame, but be careful not to destroy the bacteria by excessive heat.
e.Flood the slide with crystal violet and wait one minute.
f.Wash the slide off with tap water by letting a slow drip hit one end of the slide,

Riordan Manufacturing does not create corporate liability for itself. Enterprise
liability is mainly concerned with criminal acts, thus the compliance plan must
address criminal law. The best way to limit the liability to Riordan Industries is to
have a panel of managers between the two companies evaluate the risks of Riordan
Manufacturing committing criminal acts. The panel should evaluate each step of the
manufacturing process to verify compliance to laws, regulations, and criminal acts.
An example of criminal activity would be illegal dumping of hazardous waste. The
panel should also evaluate work performed by subcontractor s. All subcontractors
contracts will be evaluated by the panel. Subcontractor s will be evaluated for
possible risks and any past criminal infractions. Federal law states subcontractors are
to be monitored by the prime contractor. Understanding the possible criminal risks of
subcontractors is vital to the continued

novel.
The story of Robbie , shows that people are afraid of robots. At the beginning of the
story Robbie and Gloria were playing hide and seek in the yard and in this part, the
relationship between Robbie and Gloria is strange because Gloria is over controlling
Robbie and she is mean to him and does not treat him nicely, especially, when She
slapped her hand against Robbie s torso, Bad boy! I ll spank you! (page3). Similarly,

A Brief Note On Flamenco
Flamenco is a Spanish musical genre that embodies a complex musical and cultural
tradition (New World Encyclopedia). Although considered part of the culture of Spain
in general, flamenco actually originates from Andalusia (New World Encyclopedia).
However, it is thought to be influenced by many world cultures, including Latin
American, Cuban and Jewish traditions. Flamencodanceand music became popular in
the early 19th century as cafГ© entertainment (wonderopolis). Flamenco is more
popular today both in Spain and abroad due to the new generation of flamenco
performers who have broadened flamenco s appeal internationally (Spanish fiesta,
2015). Flamenco is made up of three parts: guitar playing ( guitarra ), song ( cante )
and dance ( baile ) (wonderopolis)
The song (cante) is the most important element of flamenco. Originally, flamenco was
comprised of purely cante, with hand clapping (palmas) (knuckle rapping ... Show

The flamenco guitar has plastic tappingplates (or teardrop scratch plates) known as
golpeadores which protect the face of the intrument from damage by the tapping and
other percussive strokes (such as drumming and slapping) performed with the right
hand fingernails (a specific feature of the flamenco technique). Flamenco guitars
often have push pegs (akin to a violin) for tuning. The flamenco guitar began as an
accompaniment for cante (the song) and, in Spain, has largely remained as such with
the role of the flamenco guitarist being chiefly that of a musician who knows how to
musically support the singers and dancers.
Flamenco dance is very captivating to watch as the dancers are very expressive.
There are two basic forms, like the song they are the jondo and the chico. The jondo
is a profound and serious dance while the chico is a happy, light and often humorous

Rawls Theory Of Justice
Fundamentally, Rawls aims to present a conception of justice that serves the social
contract theory more generally and abstractly than such social contract theories
provided by Locke, Rousseau, and Kant. In contrast to Locke, Rousseau, and Kant,
Rawls conception of justice does not provide a specific layout for the intricacies and
structure of each social institution. His abstract concept of justness, however,
provides the foundation from which a just institution must derive. Within Rawls
theory of justice, he presents the theory of justice as fairness which aims to establish
a just arrangement of the social, economic, and political facets of a liberal society.
Rawls states that in order to create a fair society, the citizens should come to a mutual
agreement of a sufficient concept of justice, which would only be feasible in the
hypothetical situation of an Original Position. Within the Original Position, no social
order would exist. Each person would exist without bias or knowledge of their own
or anyone else s social circumstances, whether regarding intellect, physical strength,
relationships, class, or the like. The people would be capable of forming a
conception of the good as well as developing the capacity to develop a sense of
justice. Additionally, all persons are to be rational and mutually disinterested so that
no one aims to benefit or disadvantage another person. In wanting to advance his own
interests in the circumstance of facing choice, one would choose

The Dramatic Twist Of This Graphic Memoir By Alison
Bechdel
To reveal something from the past is called memoir. Introducing the dramatic twist
of this graphic memoir written by Alison Bechdel will be explained in my essay.
Alison Bechdel is a young lady who came out as being lesbian at the age of 19.
Bechdel is the only child of a family of three and she deals with a problem which
has to do with her father giving her hidden love. Bechdel uses memoir in the book
to find herself in life in many ways. Bechdel relates in memoir through her parents
as they were talented in their own way, so she compare her lifestyle to theirs. Her
coming out to be lesbian was used in a way different from her father. Bechdel would
include details in her drawings so that the audience could get an understanding of her.

Alison Bechdel came out as a lesbian when she was 19 years old. Her being
homosexual was a reaction off of her father. Bechdel and her father did not really
talk, but she understood that her father were gay and she wanted him to notice her
love for him being gay because she was the same as him. Bechdel father showed
her hidden love. He loved her, but he did not really show it a lot because they
never really talk. When Bechdel and her father did talk she was happy because it
was unusual for her when he said something to her, or when he got close to her.
Bechdel father also tried to take her to a gay bar after her and her father came from
the movies, but she was not 21 years old. Bechdel father knew she was homosexual
so that made her feel opened and more loved by her father because she felt that he
is now understanding her more about her homosexual life. In the book Fun Home
Bechdel use memoir to explain her parents creativity and compared her life to her
mother and father. Talents such as turning old things into new things. For example
in chapter 1 page 6 her father would take old furniture and restore it back to brand
new. Her father was an English teacher as well, he had a library stored in their
home with books he loved to read. Alison mother would go around the house
studying and reciting her lines like the actress she was, and whenever she had a
show she would invite the family. Alison as a young girl a young girl would look at
her and her parent s life,
Essay On A Demolition Derby
It was hard to believe that it had been six years since the demolition derby came to

derby is an event in which you bring stripped cars to an enclosed dirt arena where
you crash into each other until there is only one car left running. My family

During what we call derby season, our family was divided by this competition. It was

my office chair and rushed to the window to find my dad revving the engine the

life, vibrating beneath my feet and in my ears. Little did I know, my brother was
also in the back lot, sitting in his derby car. I pulled the shifter into drive and
headed towards the fence. I stopped at the fence to check the parking lot before I
continued forward, there was no one. BAM! My brother, Kevin, pushed my car
into the center of the lot. I remember grumbling to myself about not giving me a
chance to prepare. After parking the car in front of the building, a mass of family
surrounded us. Everyone had tools in there hand, removing parts and tossing them
into another car. Within fifteen minutes or so, the Pontiac was interior was
stripped excluding the driver s seat. I was useless to the cause; I couldn t tell the
difference between a socket wrench and a lug wrench. Music was playing over the
loudspeaker and everyone was enjoying themselves, it was hard to believe that we
put this much work into cars just to watch them be destroyed. I aimlessly walked
around for a bit, playing on my phone, texting a few friends until my mother called
out for me. Courtney! Bring me a drink please! I went to the mini fridge and
retrieved two Mountain Dews, one of me and the other for my mother. I walked into
the garage bay and found her sitting on the

  • 2. The Beetles In The 1960 s Great music can sometimes can turn just an ordinary day into something magical, spiritual even. The effects music has on the human mind, can spread further; right through our genetic code and throughout our bodies. With all the good that can come with music, negative effects are not too far behind. Musichas been the center focal point for parents and politicians alike to use it as a scapegoat to help push their political and parent agenda. To help mold children and adolescents into something they were never meant to be. From the controversy surrounding The Beetles in the 1960 s, to the force suicide allegations of heavy metal band Judas Priest in the last 80 s and even as recent as the Columbine Massacre in Littleton, Co in 1999 that was blamed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If anyone tries to link gangster rap with gun violence will inevitably look within the United States. A country where drive by shooting, street killings, violent rap lyrics and the death of 3 of the most profound artists to grace the hip hop scene have graced the cover of newspapers and made headlines for the better part of 20 years. I honestly believe that gangster rap was just a reaction to the violent nature of society, and not the cause of it. Former SLOTUS (Second Lady of the United States) led the field of politicians when she rose to rose to prominence for her work with the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC). Voicing her strong opinions and advocating censorship, for the labeling of record covers of releases featuring profane language, especially in the heavy metal and hip hop genres. The committee formed in 1985 with the stated goal of increasing parental control over the access of children to music deemed to have violent, drug related or sexual themes via labeling albums with parental advisory stickers. Many groups answered back with criticism and parodies from bands like NOFX, Danzig, Ice T and Megadeth. Lead guitarist and co founded Dave Mustaine stated in an interview with Spin magazine that Hook in Mouth declaims censorship and the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC). Mustaine elaborated that the lyrics were aimed at those who were f*cking around with our constitutional rights and trying to
  • 3. Promote Americanism In School What can I Personally do to Promote Americanism in my School or Community? Americanism is a word that we should all be familiar with. It is something that defines this country and the people in it. Americanism to me is being courteous and gracious to the country that you live in. In my essay, I will be talking about what it means to have a flag in the classroom, community service, and how to be a citizen of your town/city. My first main point is what it symbolizes to have a school flag in the classroom. I believe that every classroom, big or small, should have an American flag to support our country and be proud to live in it. This is one of the many ways to show that you service the people that have sacrificed their lives for us. The 50 stars represent the 50 states that are free because of them. They are American heroes and the flag is representing that we will never forget them. They are one with the flag. Believing in this, there should be a flag in practically every corner.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Depending on where you live, community service is different for everyone. But despite where your community is, there is always a way to help out and contribute. Community service is a way to show that you as a citizen, are grateful to live in a community that supports you and you would like to keep that tradition going in the town. Community doesn t have to be a thing to get into a good school. It should be something to do out of respect for your family and the people that you care about around
  • 4. Beastie Boys Research Paper When I first browsed through the different topics on which we were to write essays on, I was ecstatic when I saw one about rock and roll. Once I started skimming through all the bands and artists I know and love, I knew there would be no problem writing this essay. I firmly believe that I was born in the wrong generation of musicbecause I am a hardcore oldies junkie at heart. For this reason, the bands I have selected are as follows: The Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, and The Righteous Brothers. One of the main reasons why I adore the Beastie Boys like many others is because of their care free energetic aura that they mix together with captivating sounds discretely concealing rhetorical puns. What makes them especially unique to me is their transformation from a rowdy party punk band to a mixture of pop, rock, and hip hop. In addition to a change musically, it was clear that their maturity shifted alongside it. This eventually led the band to use its widespread popularity and ... Nonetheless, his music is loved by people all over the country for several reasons. For example, probably the biggest reason why people loved Johnny Cash is because of his humble personality which caused all of his songs to feel very down to earth which related to a multitude of people from all classes. From experiencing many struggles in his own life, Cash was able to translate his own emotions and thoughts into lyrics with rhythmic beats that attracted the average individual who shared the same feelings. Even though I am not able to see him in concert since he passed away, listening to his live recorded songs makes me realize that the rock and roll icon still lives through the music he poured his life

Deontological Ethics Deontological Ethics in Location based Social Media There are so many location aware applications on my smart phone; I do not know how I could have lived without these features. There are applications that tell me where is the closes gym that I am a member of. There are applications that give me information on the weather of the current city. There are even applications that will locate the closest driver to taxi me wherever I want to go. And of course, all these can be shared on facebook or various other social networking sites. In the gadget world, this has been a huge issue with every handset manufacturer suing eachother, wanting courts to put injunctions on their products so they don t have a competition. The end result might be that the company sells few more gadgets but stifles the competition hurting the users. The flipside is true for these manufacturers. While these intellectual properties specific process might be easy to judge, design processes are subjective. When companies sue and win injunctions on other gadgets because they look alike would be immoral in that while they reach an end result they might prefer, they are going about in an obscure way. The users will have to use these services with their moral conscience as well. A user could encounter a service at a restaurant that they pay for that is not up to the standards; they can post up on Yelp or similar review sites about that restaurant. These reviews are valuable to the restaurants and they will do the best they can to please the customers. If the reviews are malicious in nature, they will not be moral. However, if the review is a critique of the restaurant in a manner that it will bring light to the issues, it will be moral. Moral absolutism states that some actions are absolutely right or wrong. • 6. Regarding Henry Analysis The movie Regarding Henry tells the story of a man named Henry who is shot and subsequently loses his memory. The movie follows him as he treks through his recovery, picking up bits and pieces of his past along the way as he tries to recall the events that make him who has grown to be. His family and friends encourage him as he searches for clues of his past and attempts to build himself up once again. One day, Henry goes to buy a packet of cigarettes. After walking in at the wrong time and angering a robber, he gets shot in the chest and head. He s left to bleed out on the sidewalk, but somehow ends up in a hospital. After he regains basic functions and he s tossed into the outside world once again, he acts like a little kid much different from his former self. He does silly things such as purchasing a puppy without the family s consent, not taking in any factors of responsibility of owning a pet and instead focusing on the physical appeal of the puppy. After his daughter is sent off to school, Henry s id overcomes him and he convinces his wife to allow the daughter to come home. Henry displays times where his Superego is dominant; however, this is only after instances where he s thrown into adult situations such as going back to work. His actions when he s alone and even a few moments with adults show that his Id is more prominent in his honest form. The largest reveal of Harry s Id is when he neglects to reveal to his wife that he, too, had an affair previous to the gunshots. Henry was selfish in this way, keeping a secret from his family to keep the current balance they had. Confronted with guilt, Harry pushes the need to confess away. This action comes off as hypocritical considering he gave his wife a difficult time for her affair. His solution shows a lack of respect for his wife as well as his immaturity at handling the
  • 7. Worm Lab Introduction Earthworms have light receptors that act like their eyes, and can tell when they are in the dark versus in the light. Their nerves can detect light, vibrations, and even some tastes, and the muscles of their bodies make movements in response. They breathe through their skin. Air dissolves on the mucus of their skin, so they must stay moist to breathe. If worms dry out, they suffocate. (Journey North,2017) Worms are decomposers and break down the soil. They are helpful in gardens to mix around the soil. Knowing these facts, this experiment tested their response to the stimulus of a flashlight. The experiment was ran so there can be a deeper understanding of how worms are in the wild. Answering questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We hypothesized that the worms would move faster as the light increased. When looking at the behavior chart, you can tell that not only they moved slower as the light increased, they also showed signs of early paralysis. When the light was dark, the first worm moved faster and further than the rest. Worm #1 stayed with the barrier and wasn t bothered by the light. Worm #2 moved diagonally from the light as if it were blind. Worm #3 did not move until after 60 seconds. Worm #4 moved faster towards the 4 inch mark then stopped and turned back to start line. The data provided shows that the hypothesis was wrong. Conclusions Unlike what was predicted, the worms moved slower each time the light power increased. When the worms were exposed to the bright lights, that replicated the sun. When worms are in the sun for too long, their skin begins to dry out and they become paralyzed and die. (Journey North, 2017). It can be theorized that when the worms saw the flashlight, they were stunned, and/ or thought they were in danger and that is why they moved slower. During the experiment, the light was moved as to follow the worm, next time the experiment is performed, the light should stay stationary. Additionally, there needs to be more certainty that a different worm was used in each

It doesn t seem to matter if it s the first time you ride a bike or the first time you get behind the wheel of a car, the sensations can be enough to drive you wild. Before I got behind the wheel for the first time, memories of my father and his red pickup truck flooded into my mind. He used to let me sit on his lap and steer while he worked the gas pedal, and we would just drive in circles for hours. But somehow, it didn t end up being as easy as I remembered it to be. I thought I was prepared for my first hands on driving lesson; I had done rather well on all of the in class quizzes over laws and basic driving information, I knew where everything in the car was, and I had been asking a couple family members for some helpful tips I might need. Unfortunately, all the homework and advice in the world isn t near enough to prepare you for the first time you really drive. Having a driving instructor with you in the car feels somewhat like being stalked by a vulture; your every move being meticulously monitored as they wait for the precise moment to swoop down and strike when you re the most vulnerable. By the end of the mandatory three weeks, all the yelling, crying, and the over usage of the emergency brakes had done more than enough to scar me for life, but supposedly, I was now prepared to go out and drive in the real world. It s conceivable that, in some ways, learning how to drive is much easier than learning how to bike; the required classes teach you all the laws and basic information about driving that you need to know, while bike riding is something you have

This paper examines the role of this profession, architecture s contribution to climate change mitigation/adaption and how architect s can assist in limiting the threat of global warming thus enforcing sustainability. Architect s provide information to clients and management about design, size, materials and costs associated with new buildings and alterations to existing buildings. They further associate with compiling and analysing data on economic, legal, political, cultural, demographic, sociological, physical and environmental factors affecting land use (ANZSCO 2009, Minor Group 232). The role of this profession and the management of new sustainable buildings can manage the alterations to the climatic equilibrium, thus contribute to mitigate and adapt to these shifting conditions. Brutality and Deceit in A Streetcar Named Desire Essay A Streetcar Named Desire is a socially challenging play in light of the way in which Tennessee Williams depicts the capacity of human nature for brutality and deceit. He takes the viewpoint that, no matter how structured or civilized society is, all people will rely on their natural animal instincts, such as dominance and deception, to get themselves out of trouble at some stage in life. William s has created three main characters, BlancheDubois, StellaKowalskiand Stanley Kowalski. In the powerful scene where Stanley loses total control of his actions and strikes the person whom he has sworn to protect, love and cherish, William s shows Stanley s lack of control and hatred of the new threat in his life, Blanche. What makes this scene so important to the topic is the way that the three characters react once the party has broken up. Blanche is in her usual state of panic; Stella has retreated upstairs, while Stanley stumbles around calling out Steeelllaaa in a drunken sweaty animal like manner. Surprisingly Stella answers her mate s calls and embraces him, the two of them exchanging words of compassion and kisses. Stanley then picks up Stella and carries her off to his den to make love, which is Stanley s way of apologizing. Stanley has to be the dominant male figure in all his relationships, not only with Stella and Blanche, but with his friends as well. He is a leader and instantly rises to the challenge whenever his status is threatened. Williams uses a different type of savagery in Blanche s character. Blanche is more deceptive and exaggerated than Stanley, trying to hide the effects of her hard life from others through constant bathing, avoiding bright lights and by lying, and from herself, by drinking.

Cash debt coverage ratio indicates the ability to repay liabilities from cash generated from operations without having to liquidate assets such as property, plant, and equipment. What is digital Cinema and what are the advantages and or disadvantages of it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it originate from ? Why did digital film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to come or will it transition to something else ?. Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and camphor. Celluloid can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called Alexander Parkes. Parkes has been found to be the first person who was granted the first patent which described a plastic material which he called Parkesine . (1) However it wasn t actually Parkes that patented celluloid. John Wesley Hyatt an inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their material as celluloid. So celluloid originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid was actually created to become a replacement for the use of ivory in many products. However is made its way into film industry later on. This was primarily down to the work of John H. Stevens. John H. Stevens was a chemist at the Celluloid Manufacturing Company . The main competition in the commercial airline market is Airbus. Airbus and Boeing seem to have the commercial airline industry in a chokehold basically having no other competitors. Since the industry has high barriers to entry they will not see much competition anytime soon. Boeing is the American leader in commercial airplanes and Airbus is the European leader, which means they are constantly battling. Their competing aircrafts are the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. Even though all these companies may compete, each with each other they often create joint ventures because the defense industry requires a diverse product mix that one company may not be able to fulfill. One example of these ventures is when Boeing and Lockheed Martin come to together to own /operate Hellfire Systems, LLC which allows for both companies to sell AGM 114 Hellfire Missiles. ABSTRACT This study tends to unravel the effects of economic meltdown on employee productivity in the Nigerian banking system using the August 14, 2009 CBN intervention into commercial banks (as a result of the meltdown originating from unsecured credits and poor bank management in the Nigerian commercial banking system) as a benchmark to analyze the effects. Data was collected from journals, interviews and direct data from specific units of the bank. The appraisal of the staff of Intercontinental Bank was used to assess performance under the first hypothesis. The second hypothesis tends to seek the staff opinion on effects of policy changes in the system and their performance. The study suggests that the economy ... In this research work, the impact of the economic meltdown and recent banking reforms in Intercontinental Bank Plc has been critically analyzed and its impact on employee performance will be identified and ways to ensuring a positive productive effect will be discussed. 2.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM There has been a number of banking reforms in Nigeria with varying attendant effects. However, the effect of the current reform originating from the conspicuous effect of the economic meltdown has become of great concern. While the reform of 2004 cannot be exonerated from its attendant casualties of job loss among others, the current reforms seems to have raised some dust. Following the financial stringencies in the economy and the role of banks in a depressed economy, the CBN governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on August 14, 2009 relieved some banks CEOs of their duties for wrong exercise of executive responsibility. As the unexpected turn in financial market prevails, forecasting economic changes is growing more difficult, employees which are the success tools of any organization are in no small way impaired in their level of productivity. For most bank employees in Nigeria today, the economic crisis has led to a wave of financial anxiety. Most bankers start to ask themselves questions like, What if I lose my job, will I be able to cater for my family and other needs? The economic meltdown has put to threat job security and an enhanced sustainable juicy

However, the way consumerism works, is if the items being purchased gives temporary happiness. There individuals are always buying the latest products to remain happy. In the text, The Cult you re in Kalle Lasn, discusses a cult like nature of consumerculture on Americans. Lasn uses the work cult as a metaphor; he does not mean an actual cult but American consumers seem to be in a cult like nature. However, Jeffries wanted to be a type of leader, to attract people as customers by marketing and branding practices. Lasn quote is an example of the consumer and Denizet Lewis s quote is an example of Jeffrey wanting to be a leader to attract consumers. However being a consumer or a leader as is displayed in the quotes above, begins before one is even conscious about it. Teenage years are some of the toughest years a person may go through, on account of it being all about the mindset and trying to fit in. The teen years or rebel years, is usually spent in the mall with friends with the endeavor to get away with stealing, drinking or doing drugs by the authorities. Basically, doing such acts that one knows is forbidden, however if you get away with it, gives you a feeling of having great power over authority figures. Starting with Prehistoric art leading to the periods of Early Medieval and the Romanesque. Then when looking deeper at the art pieces created throughout the centuries, something that stood out to me was how people were depicted and idealized. Starting with the prehistoric artperiod, where there is only a few miniature sculptures that depict women and men of that time. Then when looking at the Romanesque and Medieval art pieces, the human bodyis more stylized and depicted differently. When looking at these types of aspects, it makes me think about today and how people are either admired or judged for their beauty and body image. Within this paper, I will be focusing on the major art periods that we learned and explain how people were physically depicted and idealized, and reflect on how it is still seen today, within society and their standards. Starting with the Prehistoric period, where some of the earliest art images were created, people were depicted in miniature sculptures and ceramic pieces. They were usually created small enough where people could hold them in their hands and carry them around from place to place. Then when looking at pieces like these, they would generally give basic depictions of characteristics within facial features, while the humanly shape was something they focused more on. My family usually has about thirteen cars and we were the biggest promoter for the derby. During what we call derby season, our family was divided by this competition.
