Reaction Paper On Salicylates
Salicylates are nonsteroidal anti inflammatory agents that are widely used as antipyretic, analgesics,
and anti inflammatory products. Variety of prescriptions and over the counter preparations contain
salicylates, therefore chronic dosing which can cause toxicity is a common emergency problem.
Salicylates are weak acids and well absorbed from the stomach and small intestine. Peak plasma
salicylate levels occur in 15 to 20 minutes after ingestion of therapeutic doses, whereas with overdose
peak serum salicylate concentrations are delayed and achieved after 4 to 6 hours due to bezoar
formation and pylorospasm. Also, taking extended release, enteric coated preparations delay
absorption and peak concentrations. Approximately, 80 to 90 percent of salicylate is protein bound,
mainly albumin, and distributed throughout body tissues. In the case of overdose, however, patient
will experience an increase in the free fraction of salicylate in the plasma and the amount of drug
reaching the tissues will be enhanced due to the saturation of protein binding sites. At physiologic pH,
which is 7.40, most salicylate molecules are ionized and if the pH is 3, 50% of the drug will be
nonionized. A decrease in the systemic pH produce more nonionized lipophilic molecules that can

its beauty, Grotto, for the cone shape of the geyser, Clepsydra, because it runs almost nonstop, Cliff
Geyser, because it also runs almost nonstop and you can get very close to the geyser, and Old Faithful,

The Death Penalty Is A Capital Punishment
What is the death penalty? The death penalty is a capital punishment that is punishable by death or
execution. This is usually given to people that have committed serious offences or capital crimes.
There are 31 states in the United States that are for the death penalty. Crimes that are punishable by
the death penalty, vary from state to state. Examples of such crimes are; first degree murder or
premeditated murder, murder with special circumstances, such as: intended, multiple, and murder
which involves another crime, rape with additional bodily harm, and the federal crime of treason. The
first known civilization to use some type of death penalty, were the Babylonian s. The Babylonians
developed a law called The Code of Hammurabi around the 1700 s BC, which consisted of twenty
five crimes, that were punishable by death. These crimes included adultery and helping slaves escape.
This code was to become the stepping stones of laws of many civilizations to come. In the Tenth
Century A.D., hanging became the usual method of execution in Britain. In the following next century,
William the Conqueror, king of England would not allow people to be executed for any crime, except
in times of war. This did not last, for in the Sixteenth Century, under the reign of Henry VIII, as many
as 72,000 people are estimated to have been executed, by boiling, burning at the stake, hanging, and
beheading. Capital punishment has had a long history in the United States. Before

Toddler Developmental Delays After Extensive...
Authors of, Toddler Developmental Delays after Extensive Hospitalization: Primary Care Practitioner
Guidelines Dana Lehner and Lois Sadler, investigated how extensive pediatric hospitalization of thirty
days or longer could lead to developmental delays in toddlers. The investigation was conducted in
order to raise awareness about the factors associated with developmental delay in toddlers related to
the length of hospital stay. This article states that the average length of stay for most hospitalized
children is around three to four days, which does not pose a threat to the development of children.
Thirty days or longer spent in a hospital setting, however, typically requires intensive interventions
than three or four day stays. Factors that predominantly have an impact on appropriate age related
development include factors such as the type of health condition, the length of stay, adaptations and
coping mechanisms of the child as well as their family, the degree of parental involvement, and the
frequency of acute exacerbations (Lehner, 2015). Authors Lehner and Sadler stress the importance of
noticing the developmental delays to healthcare workers so that implementations can be developed to
achieve full developmental potential.
Statement of conclusions about the overall quality of the article, validity of the information In general,
the article itself is very well written and thorough regarding the content presented on the development

The Pros And Cons Of The War On Terrorism
Fighting fire with fire, or in this case, fighting terrorism with terrorism. This, simply put, is what many
believe to be the solution to terrorism a War on Terror. NATO is well known for being one of the
largest and strongest organizations or military alliances in which participating states agree to mutual
defense in any event of an external attack. Since the attack of 9/11, NATO, with the lead of the U.S.,
has been determined to eradicate each and every single terrorist group or any form of terrorism. Over
the years, these motivations have sparked countless controversial issues as ethics of this war became
increasingly questionable. Although many may support this concept of a War on Terror , it is simply,
without question, economically damaging, misleading, and a hopeless attempt to solve the issue of
terrorism.
In 2011, expenses for the War on Terror were reported by the Pentagon to be about $1 trillion.
However, when experts carefully analyzed the data and expenses, they had discovered hidden costs
that were left unmentioned by the Pentagon, creating a new total of approximately $4.4 trillion. To put
this into perspective, $4.4 trillion is over a fifth of the total U.S. tax revenue from 2001 2011 (about
$21 trillion). If just $1 billion in education spending adds $1.3 billion to the economy and creates
17,687 jobs, imagine the benefits from the thousands of billions of dollars that are used to support the
War on Terror. As a result, many jobs and economic

Henry VIII And Louis XIV Essay
Henry VIII and Louis XIV
Henry VIII and Louis XIV were both men whose accomplishments on a national level for their
respective countries of England and France were great, but whose very different personal problems
gave them a negative impression in history. The two leaders had very different ruling styles, but with a
few similar themes throughout. Perhaps the best thing to look at first is their very different attitudes
toward God and God¹s power in monarchy and state. Henry
VIII on England grew up as a very strong Catholic, at the insistence of his mother and father. He was
known to be ³a man of daily devotionals, setting an example for his people² (Canon 76). His own
writings, most especially a book of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This war, which ended in 1714, left France exhausted and weakened.
Both men had a common ability to see the goodness in other men as royal advisors. Both hired
surprisingly intelligent and wise men to run their affairs for them, perhaps Henry even more than
Louis XIV. One of Henry¹s chief advisors is immortalized in Shakespeare¹s ³The Life and Times of
Kind Henry VIII².
Cardinal Wolsey is spoken of there as ³a man such as history had never yet laid their eyes upon, a man
who could have others get his own will enforced²
(Shakespeare 78). Wolsey spent little time at the British court, but the time he spent was valuable. He
served as chief advisor to a young, newly crowned, and impressionable King Henry. He formed
Henry¹s ideas about government, spoke for the monarch in assembly, and reputedly taught Henry
everything he knew about economics from an early age. Two other advisors are also known to history
as serving in Henry¹s later life, Thomas Cromwell and Thomas More.
Likewise, Louis XIV, in a mark of true genius, was wise enough to appoint someone wiser than
himself to run the government. He had many, and oddly, most of their names have been erased from
history. Jean Baptise Colbert, advisor to Louis in his formative years as a monarch, later wrote in
prison, ³

New Testament Exegesis
New Testament Exegesis Gospel of Matthew: Concerning Prayer (6:5 14)
Introduction
Matthew 6:9 13 records the Lord s Prayer in the account of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave this model prayer
to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount (Greenman, 2012: 4). The Lord s Prayer has been central
to Christian liturgy and tradition ever since.
This essay will first summarise the literary structure and historical context, including authorship and
date and location of writing and audience of the gospel of Matthew. Followed by an overview and
detailed account of the passage Matthew 6:9 13 before summarising the theological message and
application for today s Christians.
Literary structure
Matthew narrates the story of Jesus. The implied author of the Gospel of Matthew uses all the
elements of the narrative to guide the implied reader s response. The entire text is rhetorical
(Anderson, 1994: 46).
It is clear to scholars such as Gardner that Matthew organizes material systematically at the level of
literary units and the sections to which they belong (Gardner, 2013: Kindle Locations 239 242). The
basic structure of the text is as follows: the Practice of Prayer (6: 5 15 6: 5 6), the Manner of Prayer (6:
7 13), the Language of Prayer (6: 14 15) and finally Forgiveness and Prayer (Gardner, 2013: Kindle
Locations 1843 1844).
Of note, Matthew particularly rearranges Mark s material in the earlier chapters of the Gospel,
especially through the insertion of the Sermon on the Mount (chaps.

In this way, when suppliers see that the purchasing department of an organization understand their
business and value, and work well together with their Sales Marketing department, they will be more
inclined to work with the organization. This means that all parties can gain both in terms of increased
value and respect towards each other.
4) The Accounts Finance Department
4.1) Roles Responsibilities
The Accounts Finance Department provides detailed records of the cash flow in organizations, and
also prepares the accounts as basis for financial decisions. They generally focus on providing relevant
information for management decisions, and also provide daily financial functions.
The department focuses on using the financial resources of the company in order to ensure that they
meet the desired level of customer satisfaction.
4.2) Accounts Finance s Relationship with Purchasing
The two departments work together in constructing a balanced cash strategy, improving cash flow and
reducing costs on one hand while maintaining cordial relations with suppliers on the other in regards
to payment terms.
They also work together in determining a balanced inventory level, taking into account operational
realities and working capital strategies.
The two departments often collaborate when setting financial goals, for example with Purchasing
giving advice relating to how commodity prices can fluctuate for commodity purchase expenses.

The Blood Of Blood And Blood
The ABO blood types play an integral role in conducting blood transfusions. Blood is a complex,
living tissue that contains many cell types and proteins (green). The average adult body is comprised
of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a
specific function. Almost half of the blood volume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and
other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. White
blood cells, which are used to fight infections, and platelets, which form blood clots to prevent blood
loss only make up about 1% of the total blood volume. The rest of the blood, about 55%, is plasma,
the fluid that carries the blood cells, along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red
blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood
cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens
determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a
person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type
AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is
actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the
population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all
Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood
(red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that
the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to
external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the
combination determines his blood type. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive.
Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he
will have type B blood. If, on the other hand,

Hollywood Whitewashing In Hollywood
The new term Hollywood Whitewashing has become popular among bloggers and critics alike .
According to the Wikipedia Definition whitewashing is a casting practice in the film industry of the
United States in which white actors are cast in historically non white character roles. The film industry
has a history of frequently casting white actors for roles involving people of color, including African
Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and any other Non white, non Hispanic culture, including Native
Americans. (WIKI) Once you have your eyes open to this phenomenon, it is very easy to see roles
being switched in many popular blockbuster hits. It seems that in film making and storytelling, the
story teller can use actors that don t fit the character simply because they are well known celebrities.
Specifically, the casting of Asian Americans in film, is very minimal and is strongly apparent by the
casting of Caucasian actors or actresses to portray an Asian character. There are two movies in
particular that come to mind when looking at the issue of asian race representation in Hollywood. The
first movie that I believe is a textbook example of whitewashing of an asian character, is the
Paramount Pictures production of Ghost in the Shell . The other movie that I would like to address and
pick apart in regards to miscasting of an Asian character is Marvel s Doctor Strange; in particular the
casting of Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One (a historically asian character). Are the

Electric Sheep Androids
First published in 1968, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, by Philip K. Dick, still manages to
find relevance in today s reality. Much of that is due to the fascination of androids in the modern
world s pop culture, and how the concept raises debate and speculation on what is considered human,
or equal to humans in consciousness. More recently, Dick s idea of humanity and what it means for
the androids, has had a resurgence in the popular television show Westworld , and shows no sign of
slowing down. The central debate for the question at hand seems to be: what makes something human
or not human? As much as Dick attempts to undo the barrier that separates android from proper human
by making the barrier unclear, there is still a definite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence for this starts to pop up all over the text. This juncture appears in a scene in which two
bounty hunters are looking at the painting entitled, The Scream , by Edvard Munch. Phil says I think
that this is how an andy must feel (Dick 121). This clearly resonates with Deckard as much as it does
with Phil, because the remainder of the novel we seem to feel his discomfort in retiring androids. He
asks seconds after killing Luba, Do you think androids have souls? (Dick 125).
With all of these blurred lines, one can assume that there s a shortcoming of some sort of spark in an
android that would make them equal to humans. Whether it s their lack of connection to animals, their
void of empathy towards living beings and even each other, or even Dick s paucity of explanation as
to why some of these lines are blurred, it widens the rift between human and android. If Philip
intended this vague differentiation of human and android, it works against him this case, and has
instead emphasized our differences in more

Why The Varsity Team Lose For The Junior Varsity Teams
1. Why does the Varsity team lose to the Junior Varsity team? The Varsity team lost to the Junior
Varsity team because of their individualistic mindset. The coach of the Army Crew team admits to
putting together the best crew athletes together on the Varsity team. As Making Star Teams Out of Star
Players discusses, putting the best individuals together seems appropriate on paper, but often ignores
the soft skills necessary to work together as a team. Because the coach focuses on the individual
talents of the Varsity Crew team he creates an air of competitiveness within each member, instead of
how they can work together. The goal of the team is not greater than that of the individual and no one
wants to be the weakest link so they overcompensate their own skills. Every member of the Varsity
crew team believes he is compensating for the other members and blames other members for the
failure of the team, which shows a lack of team mentality and strong leadership. Through
overcompensating, as stated in the case study, that throws off the balance of the boat because one
member being off pace causes slower speeds. Also, through pitting the Varsity team against the Junior
Varsity team it adds to the divisive culture within the whole Army Crew team. The coach also does not
create any positive feedback for the weaker links on the team to work with. Instead of telling the team
they ALL did well, the coach focuses on who are the better athletes. As a result, the members feel

What Is A Foreign Learning Experience
What kind of foreign language learning experiences have you had?
My first foreign language learning experiences go back to 1993 when I went to the English Institute.
That was located in Benghazi, and run by professionals from Garyounis University. I learnt how to
speak. I had to learn a short dialogue every day by heart. The students were given a short dialogue, as
a home work, to read and learn by heart with learning the implication. No listening or writing skills.
Only Reading and Speaking. Grammar points were pointed out by the teacher and explained. Also, the
teacher would monitor our pronunciation and make correction when necessary. The learning process
was mainly reading, memorizing and come the next day and practice what had been learnt with other
learners.

I have been keen on learning as I have always been in pursuit of learning anything related to the
teaching English and language learning.
I believe that a learner must be a high flier and ambitious to learn the language. I don t believe in
spoon feeding. Learners should not be only receptive but also producers. Classroom activities are
important and can make the whole class contribute and get into interaction. This will help learners to
overcome their embarrassment and break the ice.
Despite the long years of experiences and working as second language teacher, I still feel not satisfied
with my standard.
I believe my experience in teaching EFL in an English language environment has benefited me a lot,
though.
I would like to think my experience of teaching English to both adults and children has allowed me to
contribute positively to any course of any group of learners of English. I believe my skills have
developed and make my teaching more effective. With a Celta course I am quite sure it will help me to
do very well in my job.

What Is The Seventh Chapter Of Capitalism And Freedom By...
Inspired by lectures given in 1956 and compiled for publication in 1962, Milton Friedman s
Capitalism and Freedom addresses important modern economic issues ranging from the distribution of
income to the role of government in education (Friedman vii). According to The Times Literary
Supplement, Capitalism and Freedom was one of the most influential books published since the war
(TLS). In the seventh chapter of Capitalism and Freedom, Friedman addresses the role capitalism and
economic freedom plays in the reduction of discrimination against individuals belonging to particular
religious, social, and racial minority groups (Friedman 108). Friedman s argument concerning the
power of capitalism and economic power is supported particularly in the increased mobility of African
Americans following World War I and II despite the temporary interruption displayed by collectivist
trends following 1945 (Friedman 11). African Americans, with newfound economic power, were able
to curtail coercive political power held by whites. However, Friedman fails to properly address the
chain of events which allowed for the establishment political freedom in the African American
community. Despite economic freedom granted following emancipation, African Americans were
unable to translate economic freedom to political freedom because laws in place to protect civil
liberties were not enforced. World War I provided unprecedented economic opportunities for African
Americans. Labor shortages provide

Howard Zinn s Slavery Without Submission
Slavery is a system where an individual can buy or own another person as property. The slave is at the
mercy of their master and is free to be bought, sold, or traded by their master. The United States first
adopted a policy of slavery in the middle of the 17th century. Before American slavery became solely
race based, there were indentured servants. These people worked on farms or government projects
until they had paid off their debts.
Eventually this practice evolved into the race based slavery that is familiar today. African slaves
imported from Africa were cheaper than indentured servants, and they had little to no voice in their
treatment. Hence the first part of the title of Howard Zinn s book Slavery Without Submission . The
African people sent to America might have been slaves, but they never lost hope in their eventual
freedom. Hymns, protests, and spirituals, kept the freedom fervor alive in the ... Show more content on

Although she had been born a slave, she decided to assist her fellow slaves escape. Several forms of
slave resistance were created to combat their masters. Ulrich Phillips, a major historian of the South,
described numerous ways as to which slaves might protest. These included truancy, protests, and to
simply not work as hard . Men such as David Walker and Frederick Douglass felt that slaves were
entitled to their freedom and should in turn fight for their rights.
During the Civil War, the frequency and audacity of African slave revolts increased. For instance, in
1841 a slave ship was overpowered by its slave cargo and then sailed to the British West Indies. As the
war progressed, Africans became willing to take part in more aggressive protests. Slave spirituals and
songs began to carry bolder messages. Such as the song O Canaan, sweet Canaan, I am bound for the

Why Teens Should Be Banned In The Book Lailah
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain District Attorney Harvey

ban the books because they contain themes that they think teens shouldn t be able to read. They don t

Lailah it contains many powerful lessons through a story that isn t real.Teens should be allowed to

you shouldn t trust someone even if they give you everything, and that not all memories will bring
back a happy past. The first reason why teens should be able to read this book is because it shows
Cessie having courage on a dangerous situation. When Cessie and Jonah are going to be attacked by
the original vampires she decides to take action by letting Jonah drink from her so that they can escape
death. How will your friends heal you? I demanded, He looked at me puzzled. They will bring me
someone to drink from. His reply was flat. I thought about it for a few seconds. If he drank from

Male And Female Roles In The 1800 s
Male and female roles have been changing as time goes on over the years. Women have fought to
have the same rights as men do. Men have always been dominant over women, for instance women
have fought for rights such as voting and being able to work in the same workforce as men do. Men
used to believe women should stay at home and not go to work, but instead they should do household
chores such as cleaning, cooking, and tending to the children. Male and female roles have changed
dramatically over time. In the 1800 s women stayed at home and done the cleaning, cooking, and

Income Base Apportionment Formula
Mission: To assess current expense apportionment calculations in comparison to income base
apportionment, GCFA (as charged by the 2012 General Conference) presents the attached information
for review. Current Apportionment Formula: Currently, conference s net expenditures calculate
apportionment amounts. In theory, all 501(c)3 entities like The United Methodist Church should give
an estimate of local church expenses equal to their income. To define the apportionable amount, Net
Expenses (E) expresses the total church expenses less deductions: benevolent giving, capital
expenditures, payments to debt, and a portion of apportionments paid to the conference. Next, the
Base Rate percentage (p), approved by General Conference, is summed with the i factor (i) and finally
multiplied by Net Expenses (E) to define conference apportionments. The Formula is expressed

Conferences with higher than average income, either grow or give at a higher than average rate.
Changing to an income base expense model will cut their ability to give. Thus, redistribution would
come at the cost of previous growth and giving. Summary: GCFA s review of an income base model
illustrates the feasibility of a simplistic and transparent apportionment formula. While the idea behind
an income base model remains relevant, the practicality and feasibility of its implementation is
reduced by its abilities to work best through complexity. Thus, if the income base model works best

The Evolution Of Early Human Migration
The vast early human migration could have been the starting point for what would eventually blossom
into the agricultural revolution, and the mutation that could have happened in the human brain has a
good chance of being the starting point of written language. At the time of early human migration,
humans still maintained their hunter gatherer mentality. This influenced early humans to constantly
move from one location to another in an effort to find more food. Possible mutations in the early
human brain could have been the beginning of organized groups of people as well as spoken language.
This brain mutation could have also influenced the development of technology allowing for early
humans to obtain more food more efficiently. Early humans

First off, Donald Trump is a businessman not a politician. He treats all people of color as if they are
immigrants or terrorists. Trump says he wants Americans to feel safe from immigrants, but he really
wants america to be a white only country. Treating woman with no respect is not what we want for our

Theme Of Antixism In The Merchant Of Venice
The play, The Merchant of Venice, written by William Shakespeare thought to be written around 1596
7, is set in Venice and in Belmont. There are several examples of anti Semitism, anti Christianity and
human behaviour in extremis, throughout the play. This statement will be substantiated with the
following arguments; how the Christians treat Jews, mainly Shylock, and Shylock seeking a pound of
flesh from a Christian character. A variety of speeches from the characters will also add to these
arguments.
According to Dictionary.com, anti Semitism is the discrimination against or prejudice toward Jews,

Lorenzo believes that Christianity is the only religion that is powerful enough to admit one into
heaven and therefore Lorenzo is predisposed against Shylock the Jew, when he says; If e er the Jew

implying that if Shylock is saved, it is only because of his daughter, Jessica, who converts from
Judaism to Christianity.
In Act III, scene i, Shylock says, Hath not a Jew eyes , If you prick us do we not bleed? (Shakespeare,

equipped with the same abilities and emotions as a Christian. Shylock s behaviour and desire for
revenge exposes the injustice and intolerance of the society in which he lives, (Gibson, 2005). Shylock
s speech, For sufferance is the badge of all our tribe (Shakespeare, 1597), indicates the prejudiced
treatment the Jews had to endure. Shylock and the other Jews are portrayed as victims of racism.

The Holocaust During World War II
The Holocaust was an event that took place from 1933 to 1945 in Germany. During this time, Adolf
Hitler was in charge, resulting in the prejudice actions that are well written in history. Facing
economic, social, and political oppression, thousands of German Jews wanted to flee, but found few
countries wanting to take them in. Eventually, under Hitler s leadership, some 6 million Jews were
murdered during World War II. In this time period the Nazi s waged a war against the Jews and other
races that they considered to be unequal in race and superiority to the German race. The actions that
took place during the Holocaust were seen as the Final Solution . The Holocaust was one of the
darkest times in history, and can be traced to the rising of Hitler, An egomaniac with delusions of
grandeur, and power (Steinberg 240). The Holocaust resulted in the deaths of many Jews and other
non Germans, until they were liberated by America.
When Adolf Hitler gained power in Germany in 1933, he knew that only sudden death awaited him if
he failed to restore pride Germany. During the Holocaust, people from around the world were shocked
at the actions of Hitler and his people. He rose with his anti Jew campaign and it soon came to pass

American Colonialism
Colonialism s effects are often noticed within certain ethnic and national groups. However, the roots
of the effects of colonialism extend far past the group; they begin in individual people. Conrad s Heart

unique environment created through the clashing of cultures allows individuals to redefine and
discover themselves. Mr. Kurtz embodies the redefinition of oneself through colonialism. He is

Huckleberry Finn Should Be Banned Essay
A country that denies its own history is destined to fall. Toshio Tamogami This excerpt extracted from
an essay written by Toshio Tamogami, a former head of Japanese air force, expresses the importance
of embracing the corrupt phenomenons of the past. While these occurrences tend to be unsettling to
most, does not mean that they shall be neglected and ignored. Even in this day and age, Japanese
textbooks continue to utilize euphemism in portraying their own country s obscenity in war. Allowing
for these textbooks to be censored leaves the possibility for these past occurrences to reoccur because
the younger population will never learn the true horror of these atrocities. The censorship of these
textbooks in Japan closely relates to the banning of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark
Twain in specific schools across the United States of America. The quote from Toshio Tamogami
perfectly encapsulates why it is important for works like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which
although unsettling to some, should be celebrated and remembered. There are arguments made by
some over the use of the word nigger, the negative portrayal of African Americans, and ... Show more

Twain is ridiculing the white s ignorance by portraying Pap s outrage that a black man possessed so
much freedom. Pap believes that he is intrinsically better than black people just for being white. Twain
is trying to portray how absurd the beliefs of the white people were and point out how they were
entitled to nothing. Mark Twain basically put up a racist disguise in writing this book in order to

Improving Personal Oral Communication
As I have gained more knowledge and have become more familiarized with how auditing works, I
believe since my midterm reflection my oral communication has been well received by the audience. I
was able improve on my articulation with technical accounting terms and the feedback I received on
my listening and oral communication was positive with minor areas of improvement.
Personal Oral Communication Question
Question: What are some observations that you have made from other people you worked with that
will be beneficial to improving your oral communication?
Response: Some observations that I made during the second half of my co op terms were the non
verbal features and vocal aspects of oral communication. From observing my manager on my biggest
real estate client, I noticed he was excellent at maintaining eye contact with the client which showed
that he was engaged in the conversation at all times. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason why this class was the most valuable was because it taught me different techniques of
communication and to be aware of the bad habits that I was having. It was also taught in a small,
comfortable environment of 30 students which gave me more confidence to participate, thus giving
me more opportunities to practice speaking in front of other individuals. In addition, in SPCOM111
we had to do an individual presentation on a topic of our choice. This was a memorable experience
because it forced me to get out of my comfort zone and to present in front of 30 students, what I
learned from this experience was to be confident in myself and that it will show in my oral
communication. Overall, the takebacks from this experience was improvement in my confidence in
public speaking, different skills on how to communicate effectively in the work place as well as the
knowledge to consciously make an effort to break bad habits when

Central High School Parking Case Study
Game day at The University of Alabama is filled with excitement from students, faculty and die hard
fans alike. They also bring frustration when it comes to finding parking. Two Tuscaloosa City schools
will once again be opening their parking lots for game day parking in order to offer patrons another
option.
Central High School and Tuscaloosa Magnet School Middle will both begin opening their parking lots
for the Saturday, September 9 home game opener against Fresno State.
We have taken part in game day parking since 2010, said Tuscaloosa Magnet School MIddle Principal,
Kristi Thomson.
The middle school charged $10 a vehicle in previous years, but starting with Saturday s game will
charge $20.
We normally park around 100 cars each game, but can easily handle up to 200, Thompson said.

Central High School has been participating in game day parking for at least 20 years and has used the
funds to improve multiple programs at the school.
Four years ago we were trying to find ways to improve retention rates so we decided to use the funds
from game day parking to allow our students to dual enroll at Shelton State Community College and
Alabama State University. This year we have added Stillman College to the list of options for our
students, said Principal Clarence Sutton.
Last year 11 percent of graduating seniors left with 12 or more credit hours earned from one of the
colleges. This year they have 20 percent of the 11th and 12th graders enrolled in dual enrollment.
Before the funds were used to for dual enrollment, Central High School used game day parking to
improve their athletics departments.

Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet
The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the play
the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from his
interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of the play
are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger
idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the
film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed
by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that
sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell the exact way Claudius poisoned the
King and for what reason. When the actors perform the play and recites the sixteen lines, Hamlet joins
the actor on stage and begins to yell while looking directly into Claudius s eyes. As Hamlet is yelling
towards Claudius in rage he exclaims, You shall see anon how the murderer gets the love of Gonzago
s wife. While yelling towards Claudius, the camera switched between the two six times during the
span of 3 seconds. This is to allow the film audience to recognize the negative and damning effects
Hamlet s words are causing towards Claudius. As Hamlet is looking into the eyes of Claudius, Hamlet
yells the word murderer , the zoom and jump cuts are very

Benin Art in Museums and Galleries Essay
The display of Benin art in museum and galleries reflect the attitudes and perceptions of Europeans
towards non western artefacts, especially African. Thus as European attitudes change towards non
western art since the discovery of Benin art in 1897, Benin art has been revaluated and re categorised.
Initially there was a great deal of debate about Benin art and its display, as it did not equate with the
perceptions then held about Africa. Until the British conquest of Benin in 1897, little was known
about Benin and its culture apart from brief interaction with other Europeans in the sixteenth century.
The perception of Africa was of a primitive, savage and uncivilised land, full of abuses and fetishes
and idolatries , (Hodgkin, 1975, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This posed a display problem to exhibitors including the British Museum as they tried to fit them into
the ethnological museum to explain the emergence of civilisation from prehistory (Loftus, 2008). The
predominating attitude towards the Benin artwork was that it was the exception and lost treasure from
an ancient, African civilisation. This resulted in the display of the Benin bronze plaques in the British
Museum as a collective wall decoration, halfway up the main stairs, one more element in the eclectic
mosaic of artefacts (Wood, 2008, p72). The rest of the display of various antiquities of art and
functional items like weapons and transport displayed jumbled together in glass cabinets with little or
no detail as to the function or cultural value of the artefacts often misrepresenting ideas about
primitive life.
The primitive nature of African art attracted many artists looking for new inspiration and expression as
urban modernity lost its vitality in the late 1880 s and 90 s (Wood, 2008). In adopting primitive
African art as the catalysis for their expression of modernity, avant garde artists created a more
positive perception of the primitive rather than the negative barbaric perception. Wood (2008) quotes
the early twentieth century, avant garde critic Carl Einstein in that the Benin artworks were of no
decisive significance. In fact, the western artists reduced their sophisticated beauty of the artwork as
seen in

  • 2. Reaction Paper On Salicylates Salicylates are nonsteroidal anti inflammatory agents that are widely used as antipyretic, analgesics, and anti inflammatory products. Variety of prescriptions and over the counter preparations contain salicylates, therefore chronic dosing which can cause toxicity is a common emergency problem. Salicylates are weak acids and well absorbed from the stomach and small intestine. Peak plasma salicylate levels occur in 15 to 20 minutes after ingestion of therapeutic doses, whereas with overdose peak serum salicylate concentrations are delayed and achieved after 4 to 6 hours due to bezoar formation and pylorospasm. Also, taking extended release, enteric coated preparations delay absorption and peak concentrations. Approximately, 80 to 90 percent of salicylate is protein bound, mainly albumin, and distributed throughout body tissues. In the case of overdose, however, patient will experience an increase in the free fraction of salicylate in the plasma and the amount of drug reaching the tissues will be enhanced due to the saturation of protein binding sites. At physiologic pH, which is 7.40, most salicylate molecules are ionized and if the pH is 3, 50% of the drug will be nonionized. Authors of, Toddler Developmental Delays after Extensive Hospitalization: Primary Care Practitioner Guidelines Dana Lehner and Lois Sadler, investigated how extensive pediatric hospitalization of thirty days or longer could lead to developmental delays in toddlers. The investigation was conducted in order to raise awareness about the factors associated with developmental delay in toddlers related to the length of hospital stay. This article states that the average length of stay for most hospitalized children is around three to four days, which does not pose a threat to the development of children. Thirty days or longer spent in a hospital setting, however, typically requires intensive interventions than three or four day stays. Factors that predominantly have an impact on appropriate age related development include factors such as the type of health condition, the length of stay, adaptations and coping mechanisms of the child as well as their family, the degree of parental involvement, and the frequency of acute exacerbations (Lehner, 2015). • 8. The Pros And Cons Of The War On Terrorism Fighting fire with fire, or in this case, fighting terrorism with terrorism. This, simply put, is what many believe to be the solution to terrorism a War on Terror. NATO is well known for being one of the largest and strongest organizations or military alliances in which participating states agree to mutual defense in any event of an external attack. Since the attack of 9/11, NATO, with the lead of the U.S., has been determined to eradicate each and every single terrorist group or any form of terrorism. Over the years, these motivations have sparked countless controversial issues as ethics of this war became increasingly questionable. Although many may support this concept of a War on Terror , it is simply, without question, economically damaging, misleading, and a hopeless attempt to solve the issue of terrorism. In 2011, expenses for the War on Terror were reported by the Pentagon to be about $1 trillion. However, when experts carefully analyzed the data and expenses, they had discovered hidden costs that were left unmentioned by the Pentagon, creating a new total of approximately $4.4 trillion. To put this into perspective, $4.4 trillion is over a fifth of the total U.S. tax revenue from 2001 2011 (about $21 trillion). If just $1 billion in education spending adds $1.3 billion to the economy and creates 17,687 jobs, imagine the benefits from the thousands of billions of dollars that are used to support the War on Terror. As a result, many jobs and economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Henry VIII And Louis XIV Essay Henry VIII and Louis XIV Henry VIII and Louis XIV were both men whose accomplishments on a national level for their respective countries of England and France were great, but whose very different personal problems gave them a negative impression in history. The two leaders had very different ruling styles, but with a few similar themes throughout. Perhaps the best thing to look at first is their very different attitudes toward God and God¹s power in monarchy and state. Henry VIII on England grew up as a very strong Catholic, at the insistence of his mother and father. He was known to be ³a man of daily devotionals, setting an example for his people² (Canon 76). Both men had a common ability to see the goodness in other men as royal advisors. Both hired surprisingly intelligent and wise men to run their affairs for them, perhaps Henry even more than Louis XIV. One of Henry¹s chief advisors is immortalized in Shakespeare¹s ³The Life and Times of Kind Henry VIII². Cardinal Wolsey is spoken of there as ³a man such as history had never yet laid their eyes upon, a man who could have others get his own will enforced² (Shakespeare 78). Wolsey spent little time at the British court, but the time he spent was valuable. He served as chief advisor to a young, newly crowned, and impressionable King Henry. He formed Henry¹s ideas about government, spoke for the monarch in assembly, and reputedly taught Henry everything he knew about economics from an early age. Two other advisors are also known to history as serving in Henry¹s later life, Thomas Cromwell and Thomas More. Likewise, Louis XIV, in a mark of true genius, was wise enough to appoint someone wiser than himself to run the government. He had many, and oddly, most of their names have been erased from history. • 10. New Testament Exegesis New Testament Exegesis Gospel of Matthew: Concerning Prayer (6:5 14) Introduction Matthew 6:9 13 records the Lord s Prayer in the account of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave this model prayer to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount (Greenman, 2012: 4). The Lord s Prayer has been central to Christian liturgy and tradition ever since. This essay will first summarise the literary structure and historical context, including authorship and date and location of writing and audience of the gospel of Matthew. Followed by an overview and detailed account of the passage Matthew 6:9 13 before summarising the theological message and application for today s Christians. Literary structure Matthew narrates the story of Jesus. The implied author of the Gospel of Matthew uses all the elements of the narrative to guide the implied reader s response. The entire text is rhetorical (Anderson, 1994: 46). It is clear to scholars such as Gardner that Matthew organizes material systematically at the level of literary units and the sections to which they belong (Gardner, 2013: Kindle Locations 239 242). The basic structure of the text is as follows: the Practice of Prayer (6: 5 15 6: 5 6), the Manner of Prayer (6: 7 13), the Language of Prayer (6: 14 15) and finally Forgiveness and Prayer (Gardner, 2013: Kindle Locations 1843 1844). The average adult body is comprised of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a specific function. Almost half of the blood volume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. White blood cells, which are used to fight infections, and platelets, which form blood clots to prevent blood loss only make up about 1% of the total blood volume. He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood (red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the combination determines his blood type. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive. Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he will have type B blood. According to the Wikipedia Definition whitewashing is a casting practice in the film industry of the United States in which white actors are cast in historically non white character roles. The film industry has a history of frequently casting white actors for roles involving people of color, including African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and any other Non white, non Hispanic culture, including Native Americans. (WIKI) Once you have your eyes open to this phenomenon, it is very easy to see roles being switched in many popular blockbuster hits. It seems that in film making and storytelling, the story teller can use actors that don t fit the character simply because they are well known celebrities. Specifically, the casting of Asian Americans in film, is very minimal and is strongly apparent by the casting of Caucasian actors or actresses to portray an Asian character. There are two movies in particular that come to mind when looking at the issue of asian race representation in Hollywood. The first movie that I believe is a textbook example of whitewashing of an asian character, is the Paramount Pictures production of Ghost in the Shell . The other movie that I would like to address and pick apart in regards to miscasting of an Asian character is Marvel s Doctor Strange; in particular the casting of Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One (a historically asian character). Much of that is due to the fascination of androids in the modern world s pop culture, and how the concept raises debate and speculation on what is considered human, or equal to humans in consciousness. More recently, Dick s idea of humanity and what it means for the androids, has had a resurgence in the popular television show Westworld , and shows no sign of slowing down. The central debate for the question at hand seems to be: what makes something human or not human? The Varsity team lost to the Junior Varsity team because of their individualistic mindset. The coach of the Army Crew team admits to putting together the best crew athletes together on the Varsity team. As Making Star Teams Out of Star Players discusses, putting the best individuals together seems appropriate on paper, but often ignores the soft skills necessary to work together as a team. Because the coach focuses on the individual talents of the Varsity Crew team he creates an air of competitiveness within each member, instead of how they can work together. The goal of the team is not greater than that of the individual and no one wants to be the weakest link so they overcompensate their own skills. Every member of the Varsity crew team believes he is compensating for the other members and blames other members for the failure of the team, which shows a lack of team mentality and strong leadership. Through overcompensating, as stated in the case study, that throws off the balance of the boat because one member being off pace causes slower speeds. Also, through pitting the Varsity team against the Junior Varsity team it adds to the divisive culture within the whole Army Crew team. The coach also does not create any positive feedback for the weaker links on the team to work with. Instead of telling the team they ALL did well, the coach focuses on who are the better athletes. Inspired by lectures given in 1956 and compiled for publication in 1962, Milton Friedman s Capitalism and Freedom addresses important modern economic issues ranging from the distribution of income to the role of government in education (Friedman vii). According to The Times Literary Supplement, Capitalism and Freedom was one of the most influential books published since the war (TLS). In the seventh chapter of Capitalism and Freedom, Friedman addresses the role capitalism and economic freedom plays in the reduction of discrimination against individuals belonging to particular religious, social, and racial minority groups (Friedman 108). Friedman s argument concerning the power of capitalism and economic power is supported particularly in the increased mobility of African Americans following World War I and II despite the temporary interruption displayed by collectivist trends following 1945 (Friedman 11). African Americans, with newfound economic power, were able to curtail coercive political power held by whites. However, Friedman fails to properly address the chain of events which allowed for the establishment political freedom in the African American community. The slave is at the mercy of their master and is free to be bought, sold, or traded by their master. The United States first adopted a policy of slavery in the middle of the 17th century. Before American slavery became solely race based, there were indentured servants. These people worked on farms or government projects until they had paid off their debts. Eventually this practice evolved into the race based slavery that is familiar today. African slaves imported from Africa were cheaper than indentured servants, and they had little to no voice in their treatment. Etiology and Course It is sometimes difficult to determine whether a child truly meets the criteria for having an ODD diagnosis because many of the behavioral qualifications are commonly seen among youth in early childhood and adolescence. If a child s behaviors consistently cause distress to the family system and have an effect on his or her social and educational functioning, further evaluation is appropriate. ODD has been linked to many other comorbid disorders, such as anxiety; depression; and, most commonly, attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (Erford, Paul, Oncken Kress, 2014). Disruptive behavior is the most common mental health problem seen by pediatricians. Although attention deficit/ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Toshio Tamogami This excerpt extracted from an essay written by Toshio Tamogami, a former head of Japanese air force, expresses the importance of embracing the corrupt phenomenons of the past. While these occurrences tend to be unsettling to most, does not mean that they shall be neglected and ignored. Even in this day and age, Japanese textbooks continue to utilize euphemism in portraying their own country s obscenity in war. Allowing for these textbooks to be censored leaves the possibility for these past occurrences to reoccur because the younger population will never learn the true horror of these atrocities. Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the play the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from his interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of the play are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that sixteen lines be added to the play. Thus as European attitudes change towards non western art since the discovery of Benin art in 1897, Benin art has been revaluated and re categorised. Initially there was a great deal of debate about Benin art and its display, as it did not equate with the perceptions then held about Africa. Until the British conquest of Benin in 1897, little was known about Benin and its culture apart from brief interaction with other Europeans in the sixteenth century. This posed a display problem to exhibitors including the British Museum as they tried to fit them into the ethnological museum to explain the emergence of civilisation from prehistory (Loftus, 2008). The predominating attitude towards the Benin artwork was that it was the exception and lost treasure from an ancient, African civilisation. This resulted in the display of the Benin bronze plaques in the British Museum as a collective wall decoration, halfway up the main stairs, one more element in the eclectic mosaic of artefacts (Wood, 2008, p72). The rest of the display of various antiquities of art and functional items like weapons and transport displayed jumbled together in glass cabinets with little or no detail as to the function or cultural value of the artefacts often misrepresenting ideas about primitive life. The primitive nature of African art attracted many artists looking for new inspiration and expression as urban modernity lost its vitality in the late 1880 s and 90 s (Wood, 2008). In adopting primitive African art as the catalysis for their expression of modernity, avant garde artists created a more positive perception of the primitive rather than the negative barbaric perception.
