Is Seagram A Long History Of Success From The Company And...
Definition of Project: Seagram has enjoyed a long history of success from its inception in 1924 with a
single distillery in Canada to a world wise company. During this timeframe, global recognition has
afforded Seagram the opportunity to grow to 14,000 employees as well as creatively diversify in a
manner than many companies could not imagine. Unique purchases of oil companies as well as what
some might argue to be more logical partnerships like fruit juices such as Dole Food Company, Inc.
created continued accomplishments that would shore up the company and create a secure future. In
addition calculated investments with DuPont, MCA Inc., which includes Universal Studios and them
parks as well as electric companies build an impressive portfolio for Seagram as well. We know that
highly diversified organizations are more successful, firms whose business units are highly related to
each other, such as in a focused company, are outperformed by those whose business units are
moderately unrelated to each other (Graham, 2012, p.14). Although this argument makes little sense,
Seagram has, for years, experienced the benefits of being highly diversified. With the strength of
diversification Seagram has created over its long life offers a firm foundation for future growth and
stability. The objective of this current project is to evaluate the assets and design a plan that will utilize
the strengths of the organization while shoring up new systems to realign Seagram for maximum
growth

Case Analysis Of LAnd V Contractors, Llc V. Heritage...
Case Summary
In the case of L and V Contractors, LLC v. Heritage Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc., et
al the vehicle owner and plaintiff, Alejandro Leone sued AAMCO and Drive Train for fraudulent and
negligent misrepresentation and statutory theft. Claims were also bought against Heritage Insurance.
The charges against the aforementioned defendants stem for the interactions the plaintiff had with
each party.
The following events lead to the case against the defendants. In 2002, Leone purchased a van with
extended warranty through Heritage Insurance. Leone wanted his van repaired when the transmission
failed, and brought it to Crowley Chevrolet. Heritage Insurance refused to pay Crowley Chevrolet
repair rates, so the vehicle was brought to Drive Train in East Hartford. Heritage Insurance authorized
Drive Train to examine the vehicle, but then refused to pay the shop.
The vehicle remained there for about month before Leone received a letter from Drive Train owner,
Gary Gross stated Leone failed to respond and his vehicle remained in the shop. A lien would be
placed on the vehicle, and it will be sold at an auction. Leone would also have to pay storage fees for
each day the vehicle remained at the shop. A few days later Leone went to Drive Train letting Gross
know that he was trying to work out the payment with Heritage Insurance.
On March 2008, Leone received another letter stating his vehicle was to be auctioned. It should be
noted that all the letters he

Macomber Gender Roles
Nobody truly wants to live alone in their lives, and many pursue marriage to secure those means. The
problem is that the relationship requires more than simply two people coming together. Ultimately
they bring out the darker parts of their nature and the insecurities they hide within. The short story The
Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber by Ernest Hemingway depicts the struggles between people
caused by their weaknesses, yet are built upon the inner workings of gender roles, and how losing
their fears could have let them break away from their cycle. The story starts with the wife, Margot
Macomber, trying to join the men, Francis and Wilson, in conversation but they both quickly kick her
from her wants in the discussion. She leaves in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her only means of empowering herself is by sleeping with Wilson. When she comes that night back he
says to her you think that I ll take anything I know you will, sweet (12) because she feels that she can
at least have power because of his weakness. She knows that she can t get even by doing her acts in
plain sight because that would be disrupting the calm, complacency of a wife s place. She was smart
enough to know that she won t be mistreated without at least standing up for herself. The story seems
to make it clear that American Females have cruelty and that is why men take a domineering role to
ensure they remain respectful . Wilson represents this sort of manly and domineering personality. He
makes sure that he owns the situation when he says to Margot I say, you wouldn t like to drop my
beauty as a topic, would you? and she says I ve just started it and just coyly responds with Let s chuck
it (2). With just that being said it isn t overly disrespectful if he truly didn t want to talk about his
beauty , but she complains about how conversation was difficult and he merely replies saying No
difficulty, got a damn fine lion . She made it clear that she wasn t eager to talk about the damn fine
lion , but he doesn t care nor does he care if she doesn t get to talk because that s not what the men
were talking about. Wilson also gets annoyed when Margot cries about being excluded from their
conversation and Wilson tells Francis

squares show that the estimated models explain 46%, 63%, and 59% of variations in growth of
employment, income, and congestion, respectively. The coefficients for the endogenous variables
(Employment growth, income growth, and congestion growth) are statistically significant, indicating
the interdependence of employment growth, income growth, and congestion growth. Table 2.

Poem Analysis Essay
Poem Analysis: I Go Back to May 1973
The poem being analyzed is entitled, I Go Back to May 1973 by Sharon Olds. In the beginning of the
poem, the image of innocence is lost but as the reader goes deeper into the heart and core of the text,
the tone rapidly spirals into violence as well as resentment. I m assuming that the author of the poem,
Sharon Olds, is the narrator of this literary text. Sharon starts by reflecting her life story. She tells the
tale of the beginning of her parent s relationship as two fresh college graduates who venture into the
world of marriage. The couple started off in an optimistic account for they were both unassumingly
innocent. Nevertheless, everything started to go downhill later in life as Sharon, ... Show more content

next in the young college graduate s lives as their relationship as a married couple turn into a train
wreck and their bad parenting come into effect. The couple s life fast forwards as one of their children
start speaking in angry words of her current situation. The child, Sharon, would love to have the
opportunity to go back in time and just warn them of the dark future that lies ahead of them. She says,
they are about to
Ramos 3 graduate, they are about to get married/ they are kids, they are dumb, all they know is they
are/innocent, they would never hurt anybody. (10 12) Although her parents would not deliberately hurt
anyone, it just so happens that they were too young and inexperienced in life to get married, have
children and pass on the knowledge that would ve been acquired if they still waited and figured out
what they wanted most in life. Although Sharon constantly complains about the horrifying events that
affected her childhood, she also says that:
I want to live. I take them up like the male and female

Expectancy theory recommends that individuals will adjust the level of exertion they put into make it
reasonable contrasted with others as per their observations. So on the off chance that a same raise is
given this year, it will be a significantly less exertion, this theory proposes that I would scale back the
exertion I put in. Different speculations don t take into account the same level of uniqueness between
individuals. This model considers singular recognitions and along these lines individual histories,
permitting an extravagance of reaction not clear in Maslow or McClelland, who accept that
individuals are basically all the same. Vroom s expectancy theory could likewise be overlaid over
another hypothesis (e.g. Maslow). Maslow could be utilized to depict which results individuals are
inspired by and Vroom to portray whether they will act based upon their experience and desires. The
ramifications of Vroom s expectancy is that individuals change their level of exertion as indicated by
the quality they put on the reward they get from the procedure and on their impression of the quality
of the connections in the middle of exertion and result. Along these lines, on the off chance that

Why Is Truck Driving Difficult
Truck driving is a difficult profession requiring exceptional driving skills, judgment, level headedness,
independence, and stamina. Passing the CDL test alone doesn t mean that one possesses the above
qualities that mark a true professional. Only years of experience will do that. Semi trucks are huge, top
heavy, and unwieldy vehicles that are difficult to drive even when road conditions are good. During
bad weather and especially in the winter, avoiding trucking accidents requires much concentration and
skill from the driver.
Other factors that make truck driving difficult are:
Pay is based on mileage. Truck drivers are commonly paid by the mile rather than by the hour. This
means they aren t making money in stalled out traffic, during mechanical breakdowns, and when

Federal regulations limit the number of continuous hours on the road in order to ensure that truckers
get sufficient rest. This increases the pressure to meet schedules because they can t drive longer to
make up for slow traffic conditions.
The Safety Implications of the Truck Driver Shortage
An increased demand for trucking services accompanied by the retirement of much of its workforce
have produced the current truck driver shortage. The problem is further exacerbated by the high
turnover rate of new hires. Although many people are attracted to the low barrier to entry of this
profession, they quickly learn that the work isn t for them when they encounter the previously
discussed difficulties. An increasing number of truck drivers on the road are inexperienced, and the
high turnover rate perpetuates the problem because few truck drivers remain long enough to gain
sufficient experience and proficiency.
What this means for the average motorist is that they re sharing the road with increasing numbers of
inexperienced truck drivers who must carry larger loads to make up for the driver shortage and are
simultaneously facing the intense pressures described

Media s Influence on Women s Thin Ideal Internalization
Sociocultural factors, or in other words, customs, lifestyles and values that characterize a society or
group, play a large part in the way individuals think of themselves and others. Throughout childhood,
children are socialized to understand how to be accepted in society and what it takes in order to take
the status of portraying what the right way to look like is. The act of adapting behavior to the norms of
a culture or society is called socialization. We are shown these norms through magazines, social media
websites, and through our peers that have learned these norms from other various subjects. Exposure
to the thin ideal concept through sociocultural factors, produces body image problems, shame, and
depression.
For over ten years, analysts have been looking at the part that introduction to glorified media pictures
of female perfection plays in young ladies and ladies frequently antagonistic association with their
own bodies. There is much confirmation that one normal for this perfection, as spoke to by the media,

Stainless Steel Alloys Essay
The design of new stainless steel alloys with novel physical properties is vital to the petroleum
industry in order to develop technologies which will perform more efficiently at high temperatures and
pressures. While stainless steels with the addition of nickel have mechanical and thermal properties
which are desirable at high temperatures and pressures, the high cost of nickel is prohibitive towards
development of new devices which can be used in harsh conditions, so discovering stainless steel
alloys with similar properties with little to no nickel content with be ideal. Ferritic alloys (Fe Cr)

What we know The development of materials used in harsh conditions is a very active field of
research. This is mainly due to the broad range of industrial applications and of large interest in the
development of equipment for oil and gas industry. [1] In that respect, different stainless steels have
been proposed in the last decades and they are nowadays used in industry. Though they are not as
recognized as carbon steels, there is a steady growth that indicates the necessity to understand the
atomistic details of its performance, its potential crystallographic phases and the changes of the elastic
and corrosive properties for different alloying agents. The atomistic and microstructure knowledge is a
decisive factor in the design of a specific alloy. This will provide us with the local understanding of
the alloy and how the properties can be modified by the inclusion of other atoms. We can generally
classify stainless steels based on the different crystalline structures which can be formed at different
temperatures and under different pressures. [1 3] Austenitic stainless steels (γ phase) are face centered
cubic structures (FCC), mostly nickel based, which are quite weldable. They are used in a broad
number of industries from chemical plants, food processing and diary equipment. Though in very
large use, they are prone to weld metal hot cracking. These materials occupy almost 50% of the global
production of stainless steel. Martensitic

Essay on The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum
The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum
Knowing about the writer of a literary text can shape significantly the way that it is read. Consider the
effect of the writer s context on your understanding of The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum.
As a writer of fiction Böll was interpreting history, creating patterns of meaning, ordering his material
to enable his reader to make sense of it. The experiences of Böll and his values that arose from these
events have been influential on the content and themes of Böll s novel, The Lost Honour of Katharina
Blum. Böll experienced both the first and second world wars and the effects that these wars had on
German society. Events such as the economic collapse in Germany post WWII, the construction of the

In Böll s eyes,
After the experience of the trade crisis, of being at the mercy of economic forces, now came the
experience of being at the mercy of political forces, which was almost worse, since you could get used
to the former and somehow do something for yourself, but there was nothing you could do about the
other.
Böll found it especially distressing that the people who could have best afforded to resist the rise of
fascism, for example the university professors, did so little. In The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum,
Böll s attitude of contempt for the Nazi s can be viewed in the lack of interrogation of Konrad Beiters,
Konrad Beiters voluntarily admitted to having once been a Nazi and that alone explained why so far
no one had paid any attention to him . Konrad is the only character close to Katharina who is not
questioned by the police and this shows the right winged political stance that West Germany still had
in 1974 and the misuse of authority by powerful people in social institutions such as the media and the
police, especially men.
In 1949, Germany was divided into the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and the
German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Böll was living in West Germany at the time and this
is where The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum is set. West Germany was allegedly the democratic,
capitalist sector whereas East Germany was governed with communist ideologies. Great paranoia was
present in West Germany about East Germany because

eventually splitting the land east and west. Emperor Constantine s influence to create the Edict of
Milan was driven by a personal experience during his time in battle. Constantine had a dream where
he saw a Christian symbol in the sky and a heavenly voice telling him to fight beneath the symbol. As
a matter of fact Constantine had all of his men paint the symbol on their shields, they then won that
battle, attributing their success to the power of Christianity. Notably emperor Constantine was not a
Christian at the time, not to mention that his mother was Christian, after this experience in battle he
created the Edict of Milan and converted to Christianity. Because of the document, many Roman
authorities were outraged. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lennie s Savior In Of Mice And Men

Lennie s Savior
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, tells the story of Lennie Small and George Milton, who are two
migrant ranch workers, moved from farm to farm in California trying to find new jobs. This story took
place in the United States during the Great Depression. In this essay, I argue that George should ve
shot Lennie because Curley was about to do ten times worse to the poor fella, he got the better end of
the deal. I can still tend the rabbits, Goerge? I didn t mean no harm, George, quoted from Lennie. That
just shows how innocent he really is, which is another reason that George killing Lennie was really a
saving of torture for the guy. All he cared about was tending those rabbits and he deserved a peaceful
death! George was right to kill Lennie, his intentions were to save Lennie from a worse fate. He really

Compare and Contrast the Way Rupert Brooke and Wilfred...
The title of this poem is very powerful. It tells the reader that this is a very sad poem and that by going
to war death is almost certain. Sassoon has done this to give the reader an idea of war, and, as the
reader reads the poem their insight into the brutality and the sorrow of war increases.
The first paragraph of this poem tells of the slow death of a soldier as the sun rises. Sassoon has
skilfully manipulated language and his choice of words in order to create a visual image that is slowly
sculptured as the first four lines are read.
Dark clouds are smouldering into red while down the craters morning burns the dying soldier shifts

Wilfred Owens makes use of many devices, but one of the first ones used in the poem is a simile. Bent
double, like old beggars under sacks. This allows one to imagine a group of people hunched over, to
malnourished and beaten to even stand up straight. Another example is flound ring like a man on fire
or lime. The man described has been poisoned by gas, but he looks as though he is running around
trying to put out a fire on himself. The simimle illustrates the suffering of the man and his
hopelessness.
The author also utilizes words that have definite negative connotations in order to give the reader a
feeling of unease and malady. Words such as sludge, fatigue, guttering, froth corrupted, vile, and
incurable, all have negative connotations. The words taken from the context of the poem still do not,
and likely could not have any possible positive images or ideas associated with them. By choosing
such words Owen condemns his poem to being sorrowful, sad and ugly. This is likely the author s
intent as he sees war, sorrowful, sad, and ugly.
Owen uses these literary devices and others to reach a single end. A sensory image of watching a man,
in service of his country, die a terrible death. These include, the images of hunched men traveling
through mud, hearing gas shells and putting on masks, a man drowning in gas, and the horrible ghastly
death of that man. Owen incorporates sound with the

IMPLEMENTATION ANALYSIS
The full policy process is often described by the following steps:
1) problem definition
2) alternative generation
3) analysis of alternatives
4) policy adoption
5) policy implementation
6) policy evaluation
While this course has focused on the first three steps, the last three steps are equally important. A
thorough policy analysis will include some consideration of policy implementation, monitoring, and
evaluation.
The policy analyst can sketch out an implementation plan for the most highly ranked alternative(s)
that considers:
1) relevant actors and their interests
2) required resources and who might provide them
3) facilitators and barriers likely to be encountered
4) reasonable time frame ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The policy was implemented (uniforms were adopted) but the expected change did not occur. The
theory that violence occurs due to style of dress is wrong. There must be some other cause of school
violence, which would require a different policy to address.
An implementation failure occurs when the policy is not implemented as intended. For example, the
school may adopt a uniform policy, but the majority of the students ignore it. The level of violence in
the school does not change. We still do not know whether adopting school uniforms would lower the
level of violence in the schools; we only know that uniforms were not adopted. FORMATIVE
EVALUATION
If adequate monitoring processes are in effect, it should be fairly easy to detect whether a policy has
been implemented as intended. This type of policy monitoring has been referred to as formative
evaluation. Formative evaluation documents and analyzes how a policy is implemented, with the
objective of making improvements as the implementation process unfolds. EVALUATION DESIGN
Policy evaluation applies accepted social science research methods to public programs. The same
research designs used in laboratory experiments are not always practicable in the field, but the same
principles can guide the planning and execution of policy evaluation.
Before and After Evaluation: a policy is evaluated for the changes it has produced since its
implementation; the situation is controlled to

Moral 1943-1947 Analysis
The Painting selected for the collection is Mural 1943 1947 by Sante Graziani. Sante Graziani was an
American artist and artist and art educator. He was known for his morals which adorned many public
buildings. The painting allows for an effective opportunity to inspire and evoke interest for arts in
students.
In the fall of 1942, the Museum of Fine Arts declared a competition for the formation of a mural for
the museum. Sante Graziani won the competition. Graziani incorporated the greater part of the arts
dance, music, theater, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography in his design.
I found the painting interesting as it illustrates the relation between all fine arts in a very skillful
manner. Graziani painted four panels which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the left of the group a man in a horse mask symbolizing the stage of the theatre. Amidst the group
is a young man, maybe speaking to Graziani s desire that both young and old people should take an
interest in the arts. The second panel incorporates a group of young men working on a potter s wheel.
In the center of this panel the artist Leonard Baskin, Graziani s previous school roommate, carves a
square of wood. Music is represented by five youths sitting on a bench: one is playing the mandolin,
on the clarinet, and the others are singing. To the far right of the mural, a man in overalls leads a
young boy up the steps of the platform to enter the scene symbolically entering the world of the arts.
The work can be a great choice for the selection as it highlights the significance of art in a very
holistic manner. The inclusion of African American women and blue as well as white collar workers
depict a realistic picture of the society. As is true about any form of art, a great piece of work is always
rooted in the culture of the artist; the scene in the painting is localized by an inclusion of the local

passion project I wanted to perfect a balayage. Which is almost looks like an ombre, the difference is
that we weave through your hair, so you see some highlights are up higher and the bottom half is all
lighter. I did something similar to my friend s hair but with red instead. I got it down pretty fast and
then she wanted a blonde balayage. For me to do this I need to understanding color choices, which

Theme Of Bliss By Katherine Mansfield
Bliss is a short story written by Katherine Mansfield in 1918.The story focuses on a day of Bertha
Young who is a lovely, restless and kind of hysterical woman. She is married Harry and they have a
little baby called as Little B and on that day, they invite their friends, the Norman Knights, Eddie
Warren and Pearl Fulton for a dinner. During all this conventional scene, we, as readers, witness the
journey of Bertha from ignorance to awareness about her love and sexual desire for another woman,
Miss Fulton. Mansfield reveals Bertha s sexual orientation through the technique of symbolism by
using many lively and colorful images such as a pear tree, moon and a walled garden. In the late 19th
the early 20th century, homosexuality was common among people in England although it was seen as
a criminal act and there were many penances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She organizes, for instance, the fruits according to their colors and her garden, especially the pear tree
in it, bears importance for her. She likens herself to that colorful and blossomy tree. And she seemed
to see on her eyelids the lovely pear tree with its wide open blossoms as a symbol of her own life (6).
That s why, at the end, when she learns the affair between Harry and Pearl, she runs over to window to
see the pear tree, to see that it is still there intact. Oh, what is going to happen now? She cried. But the
pear tree was as lovely as ever and as full of flower an as still (16) Also, the pear tree serves Mansfield
s view that one can be both female and male at the same in a relationship. In many literary works,
especially the ones that belong to Medieval period, pear tree is used as a symbol of phallus of male.
Thus, Mansfield ascribes masculinity to Bertha in her relationship with Miss Fulton by likening her to
the pear tree. Like a pear tree, moon is also used as a symbol of gender

The inconceivable events that unfolded between the years of 1941 and 1945 have left a deep and

Following the election of Adolf Hitler in 1933 as Chancellor of Germany, the Jewish population was
subjected to a decade of discrimination and cruelty. April 1st of 1933 saw the deliberate instigation of
boycotting Jewish businesses by Nazi Stormtroopers. This destruction was then followed by the
infamous Nuremberg Laws that were introduced in September of 1935 that would continue throughout
Nazi reign. These laws were based upon the conception that Jews were racially unequal and inferior to
pureblood Germanic citizens, or Aryans . These laws included isolating decrees such as: curfews,
banning from certain public areas, exclusion from German schools, prohibition of inter marriage
between Jews and Gentiles etcetera. The notion of anti Semitic policies represents an extension of
classical anti Semitism during the fifth century in which similar policies were introduced in the Edict
of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian. This establishes that the Nazis were not introducing new concepts
but were reiterating ideas from earlier centuries. Nonetheless, these laws highlighted the intensity of
Jewish hatred within the political climate of Nazi Germany. The last crucial event that unfolded pre

The Problems Of Year-Round Schooling
Alan Dessoff reports that year round schooling may or may not be on track. One problem that a lot of
schools are having is overcrowding. More than 2 million students, in 3,000 schools, in 47 states were
attending year round school in 2006 2007. The numbers are still accurate today. This is a problem
because there is not enough room for that many students year round. Year round schooling is also
costing schools a lot more money than the regular 180 day calendar. Bus fare, lunches, and staff
attendance is costing schools a lot of money that most schools cannot afford. Year round schooling
also may affect high school children more than it affects elementary and junior high students because
students in grades 9 12 are looking for summer jobs. One

The Benefit Of Bilingualism
Benefits of Bilingualism
In modern society, owning a place in the bilingual community is a special trait that allows for people
to have a true connection with one another. Bilingual is a term describing people who can speak more
than one language, and with more than 7000 languages inhibiting the world, the demand for bilingual
speakers is steadily growing (Okal, 2014). The number of people who speak more than one language
is increasing world wide as it is estimated that over a billion people in the world speak more than one
language fluently (Okal, 2014, p. 226). With that being said, some studies show that approximately
one in five Americans speak a language other than English at home, and that is just in the United
States alone. Moreover, the number of people who are able to speak more than one language is more
than likely going to exhibit an increase in the near future as well (Callahan Gandara, 2014). Along
with an increase in speakers, an increase in demand for these speakers will increase too. Bilingualism
opens the gateway to opportunities and benefits for people all around the world. However, many
people do not see the importance of increasing the spread of bilingual speakers throughout the nation s
communities. Without these bilingual speakers, various people and their neighborhoods would not be
able to communicate with one another because of the large language barrier sitting between them.
That is why being bilingual contains many benefits, including its brain improvements, career benefits,
and social skill boosts that will help out the speaker and his or her listeners in the long run.
Opposing Viewpoints
Of course, the art of being bilingual may display a few faults. One of these faults may be that both
languages can be present at the same time, which means that when a bilingual person hears a word, he
or she is able to make a connection with both languages based on the sounds. In a study by Dr. Viorica
Marian and Anthony Shook (2012), the authors explain how bilingual speakers connect sounds with
both languages. For instance, if an English and Spanish bilingual speaker hears the word to to, his or
her brain may instantly try to find words in both languages containing the sound to gives

Lenin s Legacy Of The Soviet Revolution
Lenin s Legacy
History will not forgive Revolutionaries for procrastinating when they could be victorious today, while
they risk losing much tomorrow, in fact, they risk losing everything (Vladimir Lenin. Call to Power).
Lenin was a persistent Russian ruler who wished to instill his communist views in Russian society at
all costs. He was influential in motivating his followers to rise up and overthrow Russia s weak
government which lead to the reformation of Russia s weak economy. Although Lenin faced opposing
forces from the West, he was able to institute a number of reforms which boosted Russia s broken
economy and led to the transformation of Russia from a war struck country into an economically
stable power, prior to his death.
Prior to Lenin coming into power, Russia s corrupt government was stuck in a state of war with
Germany along with other Western European powers which ultimately led to the revolts of angry
Russians due to famine and political issues. The Russo Japanese war began the first Russian
revolution in 1905 when Russia suffered a tragic loss on the battlefield (Vladimir Lenin. World
History). The Russian loss to Japan forced the government to give up on its expansionist policy
resulting in the government losing its followers. This was the most devastating defeat Russia has ever
faced to a non European force and proved Czar Nicholas unfit to rule the nation. To restore order
within the society, Czar Nicholas instituted the October Manifesto, which

for preventive maintenance program for fire apparatus. The term fire apparatus can be used to any

Some examples for a fire engine would be the testing of the pump, hose, and water tank. While testing
for a fire truck would include testing of ground and Ariel ladders, tools, and generators. Having the
proper preventative maintenance and testing of an apparatus is important, and having all the
maintenance documented is important because it makes sure there is accountability. Documentation of
efforts allows a comprehensive list of all maintenance done to an apparatus. If actions done to an
apparatus are well documented it allows for work to flow smoothly and cuts down on the possibility of
duplication of work. Once all work is done and documented the work is done and the apparatus can be
put into service until the next time it has to be inspected and tested. All in all NFPA 1915 important
because it reduces failure rated due to preventative maintenance. Maintenance is a crucial part of any
apparatus s ability to operate, which is why NFPA 1915 s fire apparatus preventive maintenance
program is so important. NFPA 1915 allows for proper care of fire apparatus s as to help the apparatus

The Philosophy Of Law And Law
The Philosophy of Law explains and covers various aspects of law. It provides an overview of the
diverse theoretical justifications for our legal rules, systems, and practices. In Philosophy of Law,
pages 171 through 299 covers the two major topics of International Law and Property. In covering
International Law and Property, there are many subtopics to understand. International Law stands for
the law governing the relations of states. This term was explained by Jeremy Bentham; since his era
international law has been a major topic in jurisprudence. International Law covers four important
subtopics within its concept: 1. Sources of Doubt, 2. Obligations and Sanctions, 3. Obligations and the
Sovereignty of States, and 4. International Law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This prior question is: what is meant by saying of a whole system of law that it is binding ? The
statement that a particular rule of a system is binding on a particular person is one familiar to lawyers
and tolerably clear in meaning. To argue that international law is not binding because of its lack of
organized sanctions is tacitly to accept the analysis of obligation contained in the theory that law is
essentially a matter of orders backed by threats (177).
(3) Obligations and the Sovereignty of States gives examples of sovereign states and explains their
obligations under international law. Great Britain, Belgium, Greece Soviet Russia have rights and
obligations under international law and so are among its subjects. They are random examples of states
which the layman would think of as independent and the lawyer would recognize as sovereign . One
of the most persistent sources of perplexity about the obligatory character of international law has
been the difficulty felt in accepting or explaining the fact that a state which is sovereign may also be
bound by, or have an obligation under, international law. This form of skepticism is, in a sense, more
extreme than the objection that international law is not binding because it lacks sanctions. For

Planning And Implementing Curriculum Accommodation
Planning and implementing curriculum accommodation in content areas Many students with LD
experience trouble with reading abilities that are significantly below grade level. Consequently, the
high school text book in history and other social studies classes will represent a problem. If students
have problems with interpreting what is seen, they may have difficulties with timelines, graphs, maps,
charts and other visual display that frequently used to explain information in social studies. Steele
(2007) demonstrated that modification can be implemented to help students with learning difficulties
succeed in social studies. Textbooks are usually hard for students with learning difficulties, it is better
to utilize supplementary reading material, for example, historical fiction, easier textbook and resources
from the internet. For instance, websites that have many timelines and clear description of historical
events, newspapers can contain information that related to social studies topics to students lives and
communities, establish reading abilities, boost critical thinking skills and integrate concepts across
social studies topics.
These resources might explain topics, themes, and abstract ideas that are too hard to understand in the
textbooks (Steele, 2007). To make students with learning problems more successful, the teacher can
provide lesson about a particular book, discuss part of the textbook like glossary sections, appendixes,

majority of Mississippians claim to be of the christian faith, which as whole generally does not believe

was not their issue to rule on but rather the states . This being the case, states that did not currently
allow same sex marriage were forced to begin issuing marriage licenses. This change of law begun to

Life Of Pi Expository Essay
To discover is to progress, experience and to transform. As one encounters discovery, an individual
may encounter a transformative experience that most certainly can lead to new perceptions of others
and ourselves. These ideas portrayed about how discoveries are transformative, is effectively
exemplified in the poem The Road not taken by Robert Frost. Which conveys how discoveries can
push one into a wider world full of possibilities, which may transform one immensely introducing new
perceptions of them selves and others. This concept is also shown in Ang lee s film Life of Pi .

This concept is portrayed in the scene where Pi discovers carnivorous island. Don t you see, the island
was carnivorous ? The extreme close up of the tooth symbolically represents the island itself. The
appealing nature of the bud represents the luscious life giving Island during the day, however the
rotten tooth symbolises the carnivorous nature of the island during the nighttime. The toxicness of the
island, forces Pi to continue his discovery for salvation in order to live with humanity, due to the fatal
repercussions of a life lived without humanity. Which conveys how through discoveries ramifications
most certainly arise which as a result alters ones perceptions of themselves and their surroundings in
order to survive which aims to transform one for the better.
Likewise this concept is significantly portrayed in the road not taken, demonstrated in the lines I shall
be telling this with a sigh the first person narration indicates a change in tone, displaying a sense of
regret in which discoveries can introduce as a result of ones choices in embarking a discovery in
which shifts ones perceptions on themselves and the wider world hence transforming them. Therefore
how through discoveries individuals encounter impacts, which may transform one shifting their

Newspaper Article Assignment Julius Caesar
March 16th, 44 B.C.E Roman Republic Times
Conspirators kill mighty Caeser
Yesterday around noon, Rome witnessed the fall of a mighty leader named Julius Caesar. The
conspirators involved in this murder were witnessed by the names of Cassius, Casca, Cinna,
Trebonius, Ligarius, Decius Brutus, Metellus Cimber and Brutus.
It was supposed to be an ordinary gathering like any other at the Capitol on March 15th, 44 B.C.E, but
things ended up turning out very differently from what was normally expected. It started out with
Caesar heading to the Senate house with all of the conspirators surrounding him. Caesar sees the
soothsayer and blurts out with arrogance that the ides of March of have come and nothing bad has
happened. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This attempt quickly failed when she said that his hubris just took over. I knew that Caesar should
have stayed away from the Senate house yesterday, but I guess his pride just took over his mind, it was
just all too much, Calpurnia sobbed. This has turned out to be the most tragic moment in my life and I
hope those conspirators kneel to the gods, for they have upset the heavens with the killing of the
mightiest leader Rome has ever seen.
It wasn t just Calpurnia that was upset, Mark Antony, a good friend of Caesar, was completely
depressed and raging with anger at the same time. Those worthless blocks of stones, how could their
hearts be so dark to inflict pain on one of the most generous and good hearted people of Rome, Mark
Antony explains with tears in his eyes. They shall suffer great consequences in the near future and
only time will tell when their journey will also come to an end.
Some Romans on the other hand believed Caesar s death was a gift from the gods and portrayed a sign
of peace in Rome.
He deserved his death, he was becoming too conceited, Cassius, a main conspirator in the murder,
explains as he was walking on the streets yesterday evening.
Brutus, the leader of the conspirators also felt the same way about Caesar s death. The Gods knew that
it was time for Caesar to fall, everything happens for a good

Thomas Hobbes And Locke s Leviathan
Several writers in 17th century England published incredibly influential works on political philosophy.
These pieces detailed the nature of humans and consequently explained the best method of governing
them. Published in 1651, Thomas Hobbes s controversial Leviathan details a rather dystopian view of
humanity s natural state and advocates for an absolutist government. Nearly 40 years later, John Locke
published The Second Treatise of Government, detailing his own views, many of which sharply
contrast with those of Hobbes. Despite both Hobbes and Locke arguing that all men are equal in the
state of nature, Hobbes s belief that this equality causes constant warfare leads him to recommend a
repressive civil state in which a sovereign acts as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Locke s list of natural rights, life and health are fairly straightforward. Everyone has a right to their
own life and well being. The right of liberty is each individual s right to do as they please as long as it
doesn t infringe upon the rights of their neighbors. Locke deduces the right to property in the
following way. Each person obviously has a right to their own body, as well as all the labor they do
with their body. Therefore, when that individual adds their labor to some foreign object, that object
becomes their property because they mixed their labor with it. However, there are some limits to this
right. One can only possess what they can use without spoilage. One can only claim property if the
labor that was mixed with the object is their own. This is linked to the idea of natural law. It breaks
natural law to infringe on one s neighbors rights; this includes the right to property. If one claims
someone else s property as their own, meaning the labor in the object was not theirs, then that person
is breaking natural law. The final limitation of property is that one must leave enough for their
neighbors when claiming property. This goes back to Locke s ideas about human reason. Locke
believes that human reason dictates that preserving the well being of mankind is second only to self
preservation. This means that after an individual in nature secures their own well being, they will
begin to help their neighbors. In terms of

Martin Luther King Charismatic People
I can prove that MLK was one of the best charismatic people of his time. Did you know that Martin
Luther King JR was shot and killed in a hotel in Memphis? Martin Luther King is one of the best
motivators of his time, with words like, don t judge someone by the color of their skin, but by the
actions that they choose to make. MLK (Martin Luther King JR) was a shooting star, that actually
makes dreams come true, you only see that once in a lifetime. First, MLK was one of those people
who knew education like it was the back of their hand. Notwithstanding, if it wasn t for his speeches
we would be right where we were before he made his speeches, race against race. In the end, he had
the confidence to lead him into these speeches and no one could take that, sure he was a Negro that
does not mean that he doesn t have the charisma, the education, as a White person. MLK made a
difference, so can you. Those are some reasons why MLK was and will forever be, one of the best
inspirers, he shows differences, he is smart, he is charismatic, he simply is a, owl, a cat hunting, a
dolphin having its jumps in life, he was the dream maker, a huge impact on racism, he wanted to make
sure that the people, you and me, would be together, knowing that someone in life had sacrificed so
much to get you where you are today. Conversely, Martin Luther King was one of the best in his time

Cause And Effects Of Migraine
Migraine
Migraine is extreme head pain whereby one also experiences other phenomena such as intolerance to
light, one may be disturbed by sound and also distressed by smell. Migraine is debilitating to many,
with sufferers experiencing some or all of the following: nausea, vomiting, eye pain, blurred vision,
intensely intolerable throbbing pain (usually on one side of the head which may come and go in
waves), sensitivity to light and sounds, smell and touch, and migraine may last up to three days1.
Statistically, women suffer migraines more commonly and often then men, by an approximate 3:1
ratio.
Many sufferers mention they know when a migraine will come on (they experience an aura). Aura or
warning symptoms may occur before onset or during migraine, which may include blind spots, flashes
of light or bright spots, tingling or numbness (facial, arm or leg).
Causes of Migraine
Migraine may be caused by a number of triggering2 factors, some being:
Hormone changes (women especially experiencing estrogen fluctuations, which happen with the
monthly cycle, and which may also happen even during pregnancy or menopause).
Brain chemical imbalances. Serotonin, which helps regulate pain in the nervous system, is one such
chemical under study by researchers for it s role in migraine.
Foods, some of which may be red wine, very old cheeses, chocolate, caffeine, soy, dairy, food
additives, monosodium glutamate, salty, pickled/fermented and processed foods.

Pros Of Laser Surgery
The placement of the eye itself allows us to see length, depth, width, and distance of any object. The
eye is made up of three layers. The layers in particular are; the sclera, choroid, and the retina. Deriving
from website source, The sclera is a dense, white, fibrous membrane that, with the cornea, forms the
external covering of the eyeball. The choroid is like the chorion; membranous. The retina is the
innermost coat of the posterior part of the eyeball that receives the image produced by the lens, is
continuous with the optic nerve, and consists of several layers, one of which contains the rods and
cones that are sensitive to light. The sclera also maintains the shape of the eye. The sclera has muscles

These views are deriving from a youtube video. A pro of laser surgery is it decreases the use of glasses
and or contact lenses. You won t have to depend on them as much. I can recall when I was in Jackson
for Blue White weekend. I didn t bring my glasses and I lost one of my contact lenses, I couldn t see
anything. I couldn t see my band, I couldn t drive back home, it was just sad. However if I would have
had a laser surgery done in the past, I wouldn t have had that problem. So that is one pro of having a
laser surgery that I can relate too. The first con of the laser eye surgery is the cost. Having a laser eye
surgery done is very expensive, so that is always a con and a big factor when it comes down to pros
and cons. Another con is that it is possible to have an eye infection in your cornea. Another con is, the
flap of your cornea that is being cut could potentially fall off. It is also possible that the cornea can
heal inappropriately. The cut can grow underneath the flap, which could cause eye problems, as well
as vision problems. Of Course there is no surgery that is completely risk free, however the eye is so
sensitive it s hard to even think about it. But this is how the eye functions, and this is all things playing
into the Chemistry of

Some People Have the View That British Generals Like Haig...
Some people have the view that British generals like Haig were incompetent leaders.
How far does the sources support or contradict this interpretation?
Some people have the view that British generals such as Haig were useless leaders. Famous sources
like O What a lovely War , Blackadder and The Trench support this. However from the 1980s many
military historians have challenged this interpretation and states that under Haigs leadership, Britain
and her allies won the war from encouraging new weapons and military tactics. After Haigs death in
1918, historians blamed him for needless laughter of nearly 750,000 British soldiers on the Western
Front and biographers pilloned him for his overconfidence, insensitivity and logical ... Show more

Another source which supports the interpretation that British generals were incompetent is source B1.
John Laffin worked as a tour guide in Australia. His parents both served witht he Australians in
Gallipoli and France as nursing cops. Even though he didn t have a history degree, he was a military
historian who earned his living taking people on battlefield tours. He researched the war from the
soldier s viewpoint and wrote a successful history book titled British Butchers and Bunglers of World
War One a very emotive polemic title which released to the public in 2003. The book aims to expose
the guilt of uncaring and stupid generals. The passage from the book says that Haig and other stupid
generals must be blamed for wilful blunders and wicked butchery and that there can never be
forgiveness for their sheer incompetence . This source lacks reliability as it has been written in
confidence with other sources he has researched online. Laffin only presents one side of the argument
and doesn t discuss the situation in Verdun. The passage of the book was written in 2003 80 years later
from World War 1. However, his job as a tour guide in battlefields gives him an advantage over other
historians. This source is supported by other historians (B8 an B1) and soldiers (B2). This
interpretation is contradicted by sources like (B14).
David Lloyd George (B4) also supports the interpretation that British generals

Argumentative Essay On Dnr
I support liberty and I support less government, but i guess my line of thinking on this is a little bit
different. I know that this would be the government tell you what you can and cannot do, which as you
could probably guess I despise as well, but I kind of see this as taking power away from the
bureaucratic DNR. This is something the people and for the people to decide, not letting the DNR
decide what is good for our deer herd, which historically we know is not the greatest. I have family
and friends all over the state that wish Wisconsin would implement an antler restriction. I recently did
a small policy analysis on this topic and regardless of how poorly the DNR has handled the issuing of
doe tags, an antler restriction may save the herd. Eventually, there would be more bucks and bigger
bucks in the state, meaning more breading. As a result a rise in deer numbers. I do think that if this
ever did happen it should wait until the doe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, as much as I d love to believe that landowners could work together to establish a QDM
program, it just won t happen. A state that could be a model for this is Arkansas. In the late 2000s,
Arkansas implemented an antler restriction throughout the state and for the past three years there
harvest numbers have been very consistent. It is viewed positively in the state. Georgia, Mississippi,
and Alabama also have statewide antler restrictions and their herds are now thriving. Looking at this
from an economic standpoint, an antler restriction may increase the number of hunters in the state
again. In the year 2000, nearly 700,000 hunters bought deer gun licenses. Last year, just over 600,000
people purchased licenses. The number of hunters in this state are declining big time. This means less
money for the DNR and businesses that usually profit from hunting equipment and ammo sales.
People are hunting less because there are no deer and they never see any nice bucks, and this may be a
step in the

However there is lack of empirical studies that explain the relationship between the destination
personality and destination image (Hosany et al., 2007). Crask and Henry (1990 cited in Hosany et al.,

the destinations is very important in today s growing competition and destinations substitutability.
Aaker (1997 cited in Ekinci and Hosany 2006) states that destination personality uses human
characteristics to describe destinations, such as Europe is traditional and sophisticated; London is open
minded, vibrant and creative and Paris is romantic. These characteristics become values that connect
consumer with the destination in a unique way, create an emotional relationship (Baker and Cameron,
2007), some of the most well known are: I love New York, Incredible India, 100% Pure New Zealand
or Amsterdam capital of inspiration. Pike (2004 cited in Baker and Cameron, 2007) proposes that this
process of creating emotional relationship is through the development of a unique image. According to
Crompton (1979) image is a concept consisting of the sum of beliefs, ideas and impressions that a

However, after the Fifa scandal that occurred in 2015, sponsors are now regretting their decisions of

voice that if the governing global body doesn t make changes, then they will reassess their

The Fifa article is relevant to the sponsorships segment of the learning strand because it talks about
how upset sponsors are about the recent Fifa scandal. Since there was allegedly cheating through

  • 2. Is Seagram A Long History Of Success From The Company And... Definition of Project: Seagram has enjoyed a long history of success from its inception in 1924 with a single distillery in Canada to a world wise company. During this timeframe, global recognition has afforded Seagram the opportunity to grow to 14,000 employees as well as creatively diversify in a manner than many companies could not imagine. Unique purchases of oil companies as well as what some might argue to be more logical partnerships like fruit juices such as Dole Food Company, Inc. created continued accomplishments that would shore up the company and create a secure future. In addition calculated investments with DuPont, MCA Inc., which includes Universal Studios and them parks as well as electric companies build an impressive portfolio for Seagram as well. We know that highly diversified organizations are more successful, firms whose business units are highly related to each other, such as in a focused company, are outperformed by those whose business units are moderately unrelated to each other (Graham, 2012, p.14). Although this argument makes little sense, Seagram has, for years, experienced the benefits of being highly diversified. With the strength of diversification Seagram has created over its long life offers a firm foundation for future growth and stability. The objective of this current project is to evaluate the assets and design a plan that will utilize the strengths of the organization while shoring up new systems to realign Seagram for maximum growth ... • 5. Case Analysis Of LAnd V Contractors, Llc V. Heritage... Case Summary In the case of L and V Contractors, LLC v. Heritage Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc., et al the vehicle owner and plaintiff, Alejandro Leone sued AAMCO and Drive Train for fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation and statutory theft. Claims were also bought against Heritage Insurance. The charges against the aforementioned defendants stem for the interactions the plaintiff had with each party. The following events lead to the case against the defendants. In 2002, Leone purchased a van with extended warranty through Heritage Insurance. Leone wanted his van repaired when the transmission failed, and brought it to Crowley Chevrolet. Heritage Insurance refused to pay Crowley Chevrolet repair rates, so the vehicle was brought to Drive Train in East Hartford. Heritage Insurance authorized Drive Train to examine the vehicle, but then refused to pay the shop. The vehicle remained there for about month before Leone received a letter from Drive Train owner, Gary Gross stated Leone failed to respond and his vehicle remained in the shop. A lien would be placed on the vehicle, and it will be sold at an auction. Leone would also have to pay storage fees for each day the vehicle remained at the shop. A few days later Leone went to Drive Train letting Gross know that he was trying to work out the payment with Heritage Insurance. On March 2008, Leone received another letter stating his vehicle was to be auctioned. It should be noted that all the letters he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She knows that she can t get even by doing her acts in plain sight because that would be disrupting the calm, complacency of a wife s place. She was smart enough to know that she won t be mistreated without at least standing up for herself. The story seems to make it clear that American Females have cruelty and that is why men take a domineering role to ensure they remain respectful . Wilson represents this sort of manly and domineering personality. He makes sure that he owns the situation when he says to Margot I say, you wouldn t like to drop my beauty as a topic, would you? and she says I ve just started it and just coyly responds with Let s chuck it (2). With just that being said it isn t overly disrespectful if he truly didn t want to talk about his beauty , but she complains about how conversation was difficult and he merely replies saying No difficulty, got a damn fine lion . She made it clear that she wasn t eager to talk about the damn fine lion , but he doesn t care nor does he care if she doesn t get to talk because that s not what the men were talking about. In the beginning of the poem, the image of innocence is lost but as the reader goes deeper into the heart and core of the text, the tone rapidly spirals into violence as well as resentment. I m assuming that the author of the poem, Sharon Olds, is the narrator of this literary text. Sharon starts by reflecting her life story. She tells the tale of the beginning of her parent s relationship as two fresh college graduates who venture into the world of marriage. The couple started off in an optimistic account for they were both unassumingly innocent. Nevertheless, everything started to go downhill later in life as Sharon, ... The child, Sharon, would love to have the opportunity to go back in time and just warn them of the dark future that lies ahead of them. Different speculations don t take into account the same level of uniqueness between individuals. This model considers singular recognitions and along these lines individual histories, permitting an extravagance of reaction not clear in Maslow or McClelland, who accept that individuals are basically all the same. Vroom s expectancy theory could likewise be overlaid over another hypothesis (e.g. Maslow). During bad weather and especially in the winter, avoiding trucking accidents requires much concentration and skill from the driver. The Safety Implications of the Truck Driver Shortage An increased demand for trucking services accompanied by the retirement of much of its workforce have produced the current truck driver shortage. The problem is further exacerbated by the high turnover rate of new hires. Although many people are attracted to the low barrier to entry of this profession, they quickly learn that the work isn t for them when they encounter the previously discussed difficulties. An increasing number of truck drivers on the road are inexperienced, and the high turnover rate perpetuates the problem because few truck drivers remain long enough to gain sufficient experience and proficiency. What this means for the average motorist is that they re sharing the road with increasing numbers of inexperienced truck drivers who must carry larger loads to make up for the driver shortage and are simultaneously facing the intense pressures described ... The act of adapting behavior to the norms of a culture or society is called socialization. We are shown these norms through magazines, social media websites, and through our peers that have learned these norms from other various subjects. Stainless Steel Alloys Essay The design of new stainless steel alloys with novel physical properties is vital to the petroleum industry in order to develop technologies which will perform more efficiently at high temperatures and pressures. While stainless steels with the addition of nickel have mechanical and thermal properties which are desirable at high temperatures and pressures, the high cost of nickel is prohibitive towards development of new devices which can be used in harsh conditions, so discovering stainless steel alloys with similar properties with little to no nickel content with be ideal. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What we know The development of materials used in harsh conditions is a very active field of research. This is mainly due to the broad range of industrial applications and of large interest in the development of equipment for oil and gas industry. [1] In that respect, different stainless steels have been proposed in the last decades and they are nowadays used in industry. Though they are not as recognized as carbon steels, there is a steady growth that indicates the necessity to understand the atomistic details of its performance, its potential crystallographic phases and the changes of the elastic and corrosive properties for different alloying agents. The atomistic and microstructure knowledge is a decisive factor in the design of a specific alloy. This will provide us with the local understanding of the alloy and how the properties can be modified by the inclusion of other atoms. We can generally classify stainless steels based on the different crystalline structures which can be formed at different temperatures and under different pressures. [1 3] Austenitic stainless steels (γ phase) are face centered cubic structures (FCC), mostly nickel based, which are quite weldable. They are used in a broad number of industries from chemical plants, food processing and diary equipment. Though in very large use, they are prone to weld metal hot cracking. These materials occupy almost 50% of the global production of stainless steel. Martensitic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Böll found it especially distressing that the people who could have best afforded to resist the rise of fascism, for example the university professors, did so little. In The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum, Böll s attitude of contempt for the Nazi s can be viewed in the lack of interrogation of Konrad Beiters, Konrad Beiters voluntarily admitted to having once been a Nazi and that alone explained why so far no one had paid any attention to him . In 312 AD this document was enacted by the Roman emperor Constantine and his co emperor Licinius. The Edict of Milan was the agreement that freed Christians to worship as they please without prosecution by the Roman authorities. Indeed This document was the first step to the spreading of the Christian faith, one that would come to dominate the union of European empires, eventually splitting the land east and west. Constantine had a dream where he saw a Christian symbol in the sky and a heavenly voice telling him to fight beneath the symbol. As a matter of fact Constantine had all of his men paint the symbol on their shields, they then won that battle, attributing their success to the power of Christianity. Sassoon has done this to give the reader an idea of war, and, as the reader reads the poem their insight into the brutality and the sorrow of war increases. The first paragraph of this poem tells of the slow death of a soldier as the sun rises. Sassoon has skilfully manipulated language and his choice of words in order to create a visual image that is slowly sculptured as the first four lines are read. The man described has been poisoned by gas, but he looks as though he is running around trying to put out a fire on himself. The simimle illustrates the suffering of the man and his hopelessness. The author also utilizes words that have definite negative connotations in order to give the reader a feeling of unease and malady. Words such as sludge, fatigue, guttering, froth corrupted, vile, and incurable, all have negative connotations. The words taken from the context of the poem still do not, and likely could not have any possible positive images or ideas associated with them. By choosing such words Owen condemns his poem to being sorrowful, sad and ugly. This is likely the author s intent as he sees war, sorrowful, sad, and ugly. Owen uses these literary devices and others to reach a single end. A sensory image of watching a man, in service of his country, die a terrible death. • 30. The Benefit Of Bilingualism Benefits of Bilingualism In modern society, owning a place in the bilingual community is a special trait that allows for people to have a true connection with one another. Bilingual is a term describing people who can speak more than one language, and with more than 7000 languages inhibiting the world, the demand for bilingual speakers is steadily growing (Okal, 2014). The number of people who speak more than one language is increasing world wide as it is estimated that over a billion people in the world speak more than one language fluently (Okal, 2014, p. 226). With that being said, some studies show that approximately one in five Americans speak a language other than English at home, and that is just in the United States alone. Moreover, the number of people who are able to speak more than one language is more than likely going to exhibit an increase in the near future as well (Callahan Gandara, 2014). Along with an increase in speakers, an increase in demand for these speakers will increase too. Bilingualism opens the gateway to opportunities and benefits for people all around the world. However, many people do not see the importance of increasing the spread of bilingual speakers throughout the nation s communities. Without these bilingual speakers, various people and their neighborhoods would not be able to communicate with one another because of the large language barrier sitting between them. That is why being bilingual contains many benefits, including its brain improvements, career benefits, and social skill boosts that will help out the speaker and his or her listeners in the long run. Opposing Viewpoints Of course, the art of being bilingual may display a few faults. One of these faults may be that both languages can be present at the same time, which means that when a bilingual person hears a word, he or she is able to make a connection with both languages based on the sounds. In a study by Dr. Viorica Marian and Anthony Shook (2012), the authors explain how bilingual speakers connect sounds with both languages. For instance, if an English and Spanish bilingual speaker hears the word to to, his or her brain may instantly try to find words in both languages containing the sound to gives ... • 31. Lenin s Legacy Of The Soviet Revolution Lenin s Legacy History will not forgive Revolutionaries for procrastinating when they could be victorious today, while they risk losing much tomorrow, in fact, they risk losing everything (Vladimir Lenin. Call to Power). Lenin was a persistent Russian ruler who wished to instill his communist views in Russian society at all costs. He was influential in motivating his followers to rise up and overthrow Russia s weak government which lead to the reformation of Russia s weak economy. Although Lenin faced opposing forces from the West, he was able to institute a number of reforms which boosted Russia s broken economy and led to the transformation of Russia from a war struck country into an economically stable power, prior to his death. Prior to Lenin coming into power, Russia s corrupt government was stuck in a state of war with Germany along with other Western European powers which ultimately led to the revolts of angry Russians due to famine and political issues. The Russo Japanese war began the first Russian revolution in 1905 when Russia suffered a tragic loss on the battlefield (Vladimir Lenin. World History). The Russian loss to Japan forced the government to give up on its expansionist policy resulting in the government losing its followers. This was the most devastating defeat Russia has ever faced to a non European force and proved Czar Nicholas unfit to rule the nation. It provides an overview of the diverse theoretical justifications for our legal rules, systems, and practices. In Philosophy of Law, pages 171 through 299 covers the two major topics of International Law and Property. In covering International Law and Property, there are many subtopics to understand. International Law stands for the law governing the relations of states. This term was explained by Jeremy Bentham; since his era international law has been a major topic in jurisprudence. International Law covers four important subtopics within its concept: 1. Sources of Doubt, 2. Obligations and Sanctions, 3. Obligations and the Sovereignty of States, and 4. International Law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This prior question is: what is meant by saying of a whole system of law that it is binding ? The statement that a particular rule of a system is binding on a particular person is one familiar to lawyers and tolerably clear in meaning. To argue that international law is not binding because of its lack of organized sanctions is tacitly to accept the analysis of obligation contained in the theory that law is essentially a matter of orders backed by threats (177). (3) Obligations and the Sovereignty of States gives examples of sovereign states and explains their obligations under international law. Great Britain, Belgium, Greece Soviet Russia have rights and obligations under international law and so are among its subjects. They are random examples of states which the layman would think of as independent and the lawyer would recognize as sovereign . One of the most persistent sources of perplexity about the obligatory character of international law has been the difficulty felt in accepting or explaining the fact that a state which is sovereign may also be bound by, or have an obligation under, international law. This form of skepticism is, in a sense, more extreme than the objection that international law is not binding because it lacks sanctions. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, the high school text book in history and other social studies classes will represent a problem. If students have problems with interpreting what is seen, they may have difficulties with timelines, graphs, maps, charts and other visual display that frequently used to explain information in social studies. Steele (2007) demonstrated that modification can be implemented to help students with learning difficulties succeed in social studies. Textbooks are usually hard for students with learning difficulties, it is better to utilize supplementary reading material, for example, historical fiction, easier textbook and resources from the internet. For instance, websites that have many timelines and clear description of historical events, newspapers can contain information that related to social studies topics to students lives and communities, establish reading abilities, boost critical thinking skills and integrate concepts across social studies topics. These resources might explain topics, themes, and abstract ideas that are too hard to understand in the textbooks (Steele, 2007). The right of liberty is each individual s right to do as they please as long as it doesn t infringe upon the rights of their neighbors. Locke deduces the right to property in the following way. Each person obviously has a right to their own body, as well as all the labor they do with their body. Therefore, when that individual adds their labor to some foreign object, that object becomes their property because they mixed their labor with it. However, there are some limits to this right. One can only possess what they can use without spoilage. One can only claim property if the labor that was mixed with the object is their own. This is linked to the idea of natural law. It breaks natural law to infringe on one s neighbors rights; this includes the right to property. If one claims someone else s property as their own, meaning the labor in the object was not theirs, then that person is breaking natural law. The final limitation of property is that one must leave enough for their neighbors when claiming property. This goes back to Locke s ideas about human reason. Locke believes that human reason dictates that preserving the well being of mankind is second only to self preservation. This means that after an individual in nature secures their own well being, they will begin to help their neighbors. In terms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
